#Elden Ring (DLC hype room)
1 messages · Page 52 of 1
"The big bang was a mistake" is basically FF as an ending
Motive: Interesting
Goal: boring
It's deffo frustrating we cant shit-talk Gids over all this
the only character who i feel still has an incomplete questline going on
she's just snacky
I cast! HEAT DEATH OF THE UNIVERSE vibes fr fr
"Gids my man, you will NOT belive what i found"
Gideon deserves less
i guess the quest end is supposed to be killin her?
Gideon, five hours of talking later: "Okay tarnished. Here;'s my armor and weapon. I'm going naked srcreaming through teh countryside. Bye.":
I gotta give him props for understanding the story better than 90% of players, and without item descriptions
I choose to believe gideon just doesn't believe you
he thinks youre fucking with him
also good
I do wish we got more ofa n answer on why the hell he just FLIPS THE FUCK OUT
His claims dont make a lot of sense
"uhuh. sure man. yeah they just carved a chunk of the continent out"
“Imagine Gideon. 3 Demigods”
“Okay cool”
“Maybe more”
“Okay thanks Tarnished”
“Imagine…”
I think he's onto something
I think he might find out that ||the greater will isn't here||
in that ||I think Marika legitimately wanted to die||
sicne it;'s all but explcit that ||Mariak is literally guiding you, and, amusingly, Godfrey||
It's the "Contiuine to fight, unto eternity" bit
gideon just gets dropped all of this and it's just
Higher resolution, better quality, subtitles off
Overtime I started to get iffy on if you even kill the EB, or the God Slain text refers to Marika instead
Oh, no, it’s that Gideon thinks you can’t beat the Elden Beast
||with the dlc, I'm more confortable in that read - Miquella gets the same treatment||
He’s just like “nah that shit is unbeatable. We lose. Ggs.”
I kinda love his breakdown tbh
GGS TO THIS, IDIOT
I think he's a doomer about your chances / actually doesn't think it should be done
I HAVE FIRE DAMAGE
Wrong, messmer's orb
it feels suitably like a man gone mad
"Also I died like six times sucking Saint Trina's Fingers"
"too much information, newcomer."
Oh, I just realized why I find "cause universal heat death" boring as a goal: It's cause I'm deeply Polites-coded and believe that change is possible with work and power.
I mean i don’t agree with it
But I think it’s an interesting analogue to
Essentially depression
But on a global scale
its neat how it crops up all over the place like a metaphysical curse
“Life isn’t worth living, everyone pack it up”
you suffer enough, you can manifest the flames
And then any time anyone is overwhelmed by the death drive it’s frenzy time
and the take - "Life itself is a mistake", is a good basis for madness
Shabriri is… kinda Persona Nyx coded
Yes! Again: FF itself is cringe, but interesting. The goal is bleh imo
its not just 'woohoo I'm crazy 🤪', but its something I can totally imagine a medieval society calling mad if you geniunely believe it
The point is that to be interesting is to suffer
I do appreciate ||that we finally fight a frenzy fucker||
I mean I agree but I'm crucible-pilled and a GW apologist
so
lmao
Also man a lot of stuff in the lands of shadow is probably about to break containment and be a real problem for the world after you become lord
If you don’t deal with it
Huh
Eyup
||Midra is probably about to go on a frenzy crusade, Saint is cooking up a new rot fester, Miquella is about to rock up back to the lands between||
||Count Ymir is probably about to do… uh, something?||
Romina seems to just be chilling in nowhereland tbh
hoenstly.
He’s so baffling
His robe is made of banana peels
I’m a scholar of fromsoft I think but Ymir genuinely took me so off guard
Making him immune to pratfalls
Also yeah I was telling a friend about Ymir
I was like “uh yeah so there’s a guy who knows everything. And he just casually tells you the secrets to all space and time, then tells you to phone God about it”
The most effective eldritch horror ever
Like
Better than bloodbornes imo
As horror
||Midra|| only goes off after you disturb him tbh
I knew from the moment that he just Knew Everything that this dude was gonna spring some fucked up shit on me
And he sure did!
Yeah but like….. ||he was probably gonna do that anyway eventually||
Who knows how long he would just keep meditatively enduring
I love how the Hornsent react to the threat of frenzy
Like just instantly
“Nope fuck that kill them all”
Ymir being a guy who just casually goes “hey Tarnished, want to know the secrets of the cosmos? I literally know everything btw”
Was peak
Well
thats' assuming
that
||The inquistoprs werent doing a false flag.||
which
They may have been
Oh right an aside, with the DLC done i'm gonna give goldmask's ending a peek this time round
relaxing in Leyndell one day (still cleaning up the ash)
Boc trying to rediscover cloth dye technology, Sellenball drifting happily around Marika's stone tablets.
We've even got a delegation from Stormveil, starting to re-open trade.Lordship's good
suddenly hear a splintering noise, sky starts to turn white
giant fuck-off invisible tree made of shadow appears for a second, then explodes
entire new continent on my front lawnlook inside
||It's Godwyns||
The problem is the way they do Midra basically perfectly ensues ||He becomes a lord, by letting him fester in dispair for however long||
MAN YOU DONT RESOLVE THAT EVEN IN THE MAIN GAME
Those fucking Godwyns, man
THATS JUST HANGING OUT AND GETTING WORSE
It’s so fucking funny
Fresh from the stoooorrreee!
The cadaver surrogate thing was just like
Hoenstly i think teh answer is the Scadutree and Erdtree are linked
“Okay, so that problem still isn’t solved”
GGodwyn is basically a cancer on the roots of the Shadowtree.
Yeah
“Sweet. Horrors beyond my comprehension.”
So the cancer is now being mirrored into the shadowrealm
why his death knights went after them is just ????
hehe new meme brain
"shabriri, this is the seventh time youve show frenzy to the class"
Intereistngly, someoen pointed out the scadutree appears to be two trees, and one of them is being strangled by what appears to be am irror of the sealing tree.
Nah this makes sense actually
KId: MAY CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD! eyeballs explode
They’re looking for a proper Godwyn corpse to form so they can kill it and he’ll be dead for really real
I think its two-that-are-one
but the sealing tree parallel is real
It's just very interesting the whole sealing tree bit
||I think its how the lands got seperated in the first place||
They’re also a spiral
I was eating so good this dlc let me tell you
oh yea h that kinda never gets brought up
same as what the fuck is marika actually doing in that trailer
The spiral being dna linked nad the curicble being an evoloution methaphor
is well
great
|| i miss my son, moore, i didn't realize trying to help him would make us fight||
i love it
with the hair
||sad, forever...?||
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fgbvv0OHOwY Someone actually made Blue Dancer charm good
Master your martial arts in this weapon breakdown. This review contains all you need to know about Hand to Hand Arts (movesets, hitboxes, unique aspects, infusion, frame data) #eldenring #艾爾登法環
Please help me continue my YouTube journey by buying my fantasy novel! (both ebook and paperback available): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B6XNQH7D/ref=tm...
i'm actually impressed
|| THE WAY HE SAYS IT WHEN YOU KILL HIM, I GENUINELY DIDNT WANNA SWING ON HIM IN THE FIGHT CAUSE I THOUGHT MAYBE KILLING LEDA WOULDVE ENDED IT, BUT THEN IT WAS JUST HIM||
the fcks up part of that for me is that ||he says he wants miquella to make him forget||
Fuck I wish Elden Ring had Bonfire Ascetics, I yearn to fight Divine Beast Dancing Lion again
There’s actually a means of doing this
It’s called fighting the second Divine Beast Dancing Lion
||There are two in the dlc||
|| so i'm just sitting there running around the entire arena going 'NOT MY SON' and dear god i will never not swing on leda anytime i see her now||
Or NG+
also hes totally a kindred under that armor right
But I already fought the second one :(
The ||Second one|| ios very funny, it has a fourth stance
like
I saw someones take that ||she was inside the gate and looking out, since Enir-Illm has that Golden Sky||
hes gotta be
The funniest stance
I wanna kick Margit's ass again, ngl
||HURL BASILISKS||
which was a fun one
I guess there's always coop
My boy?
yeah
honestly i'd believe it, that or someone somehow enduring the rot
Fully transformed lol
I think either that or a human raised by them
the cookbooks say they're shared by the kindred to Moore 'and his kin'
Just 100% bugpilled under that Armor
but yeah i don't know why but moore might be one of my favorite fromsoft characters period and he's like
barely one
so he might just be a guy whos buggin'
Moore, visually is interesitng
alongside ||torrent is afraid||
his face reminds me of someone with Down's or similar.
||It wasn't too hard for me but i didn't realize the consequences of telling him to move on||
Not meaning that as an insult or things, it's just how it's put togther is interesting
which is maybe the creepiest thing a game has ever told me
Between friendly and hostile NPCs, Shadow of the Erdtree adds a decent chunk onto Elden Ring's already massive cast.
Song used: Gravesite Plains - Elden Ring OST
0:00 - Drake Warrior Igon
0:08 - Dragon Communion Priestess
0:16 - Ancient Dragon-Man
0:24 - Swordhand of Night Jolán
0:32 - Swordhand of Night Anna
0:40 - Fire Knight Queelign
0:48 -...
he is friend shaped
Ansbach is also very interesting, as he doesnt have the tattoo every other Knight of blood has.
not what i expected freyja to look like
when ||Queelign|| invaded me, my first reaction was I could not lose to someone with that hair
Okay I’m not gonna lie I am having a 4AM brain blast
I figured out the missing element to why some people Caelid: Become Bug from the rot and others don’t and melt instead
It is quite literally the armour
|| Queelign genuinely felt like he should've been whining for a parental figure anytime i defeated him||
Bugs turn into liquid on the inside of their cocoons right
Yeah p much lol
OOHHHHH YOURE SO COOL
Armour is the cocoon for Rot victims
do people turn into the pests?
If you have armour you fuckin- you metamorphose into a bug
Like the Cleanrot Knights
Who have bug wings
i thought they just kinda came up from the lake of rot
but that also makes sense
me who realizes my main outfit has the cleanrot chest armour
maybe both
they definitely do this, but the cleanrots are starting to bug out
perhaps pests are created and cleanrots are the 'metamorphosed' ones?
pest thread spears my beloved
mining glintstone, the way dragons slorp up the elements of where they live, etc
... oh my god i am just a bug
so it wouldn't be out of place for rot to do that
Anyways this is complete crack theorization but my new insane pet theory is that the Scarlet Rot is supposed to turn you into a bug
But like
thoughts on pickling livers? or pickles in general?
I enjoy both, depending on the liver
i think the blue warrior actually did fight an avatar of the rot who was a big bug
so
yeah that tracks
||romina||is..... also a bug
God i find it hilarious now, one of my favored chest pieces is the cleanrot knight armour and my favorite incantations are the pest thread ones
and KLS, but everyone likes KLS
oh yeah reminds me
||Metyr has the outer-spacey / gravity tag that the Fallingstar Beasts and Onyx + Alabaster Lords have, that makes anti-meteor weapons do more to them. Is there any lore implications to the fact the Elden Beast doesnt.||
this is actually not unlikely though
Goodnight all
speaking of god-avatars
more the magic, than the origin of both from space?
Oh wait lastly
The Scarlet Aeonia flower is both a cocoon and the bud of Romina all over again
oooooooooooooo
I really like that Romina's buds are lighter pink because they aren't tinged with gold
i think gravity stuff is legitjust aleins
aliens
||so does the Elden Beast not count as an alien?||
Aliens
why the elden beast is like... a god child
||Should I read into that, or just 🤷♂️ and go 'huh. weird.'||
idk
Elden Beast has been filtering earthly things through it
Erdtree rebirth is a whole thing
Rune recycling with the stronger runes being increasingly coppery instead of yellow-gold
its definitely tied to the world a bit more strongly than ||Metyr||
literally dictates how life and death work
|| i still think metyr is one of the grossest bosses i've dealt with in the from series for me which is weird cause there have absolutely be objectively grosser||
||I felt that way in the fight, but looking at her model later I felt a bit of the majesty||
||she reminds me of the finger crones in posture||
I think it’s because she’s just
(also goodnight! fun talk)
Completely out of nowhere
i think i might just also be more affected by hand critters than stuff like gaping dragon or ludwig or
... well honestly the list of gross bosses is kinda long
I feel like in her prime she must have been beautiful
||Romina freaked me out a lot when I first saw her, cause of the bugs||
her theme definitely helps this
|| Bugs don't really do much to me, the only way a bug gets to me is if it's like, big spider and i'm actively in its nest||
the scorps at the start got me too
I don't like how quiet they are
does it bug you
Oh yeah, got the blinkbolt ash of war
is nice, part of me wishes it infused the weapon
i know it couldn't get a unique attack out of blink obviously so that would've been a nice alternative
dlc final boss is 100% the worst boss the series has ever had in terms of visuals
its like fighting a strobelight that kills your fps
yeah it's not the best
my ring elden and my tree scadu
entering the dlc with a bloodflame build
because im evvil
are you using the confffor helm?
confessor
if you are try removing the cape on the glemir set it makes the confessor hood go over it and hides the chest lance plate
Firespark perfume bottles are insane with frost builds.
Nice! Also grab yourself the Beast Claws, they go great with Blood flame
uhh no i am using the thief hood
it has a cowl that goes over the mouth and nose
yeah it's just called the black hood
oh i think thats one ive just always missed
do you buy that one from patches or have to farm it from his dudes?
can never remember
doing another elden ring run
So um. The lizard greatsword's projectiles don't seem to have a spawn limit
They do not, no
my favorite part of winning fights bow-only is seeing my opponents just hilariously peppered with arrows
i also noticed its a blunt greatsword
which is honestly neat
if it wasnt in the dlc it would probally be my blunt weapon of choice
it always kind of rules tbh
It doesn't seem to actually deal strike damage unfortunately 😔
another good one
New Mission Unlocked: spawn as many of those projectiles as it takes to crash the game.
So. I think I've gone mad
I'm trying to learn playing the game without crutching on Dragoncrest Greatshield.
While wearing Curseblade mask
Mistakes really hurt!
But also, free talisman slot & 5 dex! Five!
Just uh, ignore the -7% healing penalty
i miss upgrdading armor honestly
i really think removing it really messed with player defenses
it really feels like the def talismans are in a way a replacement for it
...ough
Cool shield...
I'm debating if I want Thops's Barrier or Holy Ground on it, or if I wanna leave it ashless
The idea is to get me more actively using shield and parrying, and better timing my rolls
So yeah, basically. I feel my play is pretty sloppy because with defense buffs I'm good enough to brute force the game
And I'd like to get more finesse to my gameplay
I'm in the opposite train, my mind doesn't want to take a hit or put down second weapon for defense, trying for a parry thing but.. twohand.
Also Staff of the Great Beyond is an absolute godsend
sadly in elden ring parry is only viable on shields
Yeah, I'm trying to get more fluid in managing swapping so I can respond better
seriously the parry dagger has worse frames than small shields
It's at it's best on shields, but parrying dagger is still useable. Depends what you mean by viable
I think shields are the superior option, but that's a product of a bunch of factors, some of which are just bad choices on froms part
OOOOOOOOOOOOO I GOT A LEGIT PARRY IN PVP
OOOOOOOOOOO I FEEL SO FUCKING COOL
AND IT WAS AGAINST BEAST CLAWS TOO
(communication around when the parry is active, the extreme difference between Carian Retaliation and every other parry, the fact that medium shields end up the most forgiving with Carian, etc)
golden is 3 frames, carian is 6, bucker is 5, small is 5, storm wall is 5, pdagger, is 4 ,thops is 5 and rest are 2
But can you still parry with the parrying dagger? It's perfectly viable
Golden Parry is identical to Carian.
It has more range, but always costs fp
I don't know why FEXTRA is claiming otherwise
When i messed around with a parry build I used Storm Wall
AND THE HOST JUST IMMEDIATELY DIED THE SECOND THEY STEPPED INTO THE ARENA
It’s fun
Holy shit I'm wheezing
Classic dlc boss fight moment
||...also why can I not parry Promised Consort all of a sudden...?||
||Golden Parry was doing fine but Carian Retaliation doesn't seem to be doing anything||
probally range
Golden parry has a lot more range so maybe it’s that?
Maybe, but I'm parrying right in his face and it's not working
Does Golden get more parry frames than Carian?
That might be it
I don’t think so?
Apparently Golden does have slightly more active frames, but I don't think it's enough to make any real difference
I think it's just me getting the distances wrong
with the two new status attack boost talismans i'm surprised there wasn't a frostbite exultation one still
That or I straight up flubbed the timing
then again i suppose that effect is already built into the status itself
Would've been awful in PVP, good god
Can you imagine that on top of the Bleed shenanigans?
golden parry has the same number of active frames as carian, but the larger parry hitbox effectively gives you a more generous window for any given attack to make contact
i don't doubt that that would be terrible but it'd also be really funny and probably be 10% at most
Yeah it's definitely me flubbing the distances
Yeah, true
since the attack moves through space while your active frames are happening, and golden allows the parry to occur in more space
I just wonder who it would've been themed around
Bleed exultation is themed around the bleed boss, poison/rot is themed around the rot fellas, madness exultation is themed around those winter lanterns, but idk any really significant figures you could theme a frost exultation off of
Ranni
Maybe Ranni? But that doesn't feel right somehow.
😛
She doesn't feel the type to exult
either a snow witch or zamor theme, i'd think
Frost exultation but you're actually just putting the doll in your talisman slot after she's left it
Zamor is a good callout
...true, maybe Zamor Knight's Exultation
that said frost is kind of its own exultation because it cuts its targets defense
Yeah, like Yadana said, it already kinda has it built into itself
as redundant as the hypothetical it would have at least been possible. alas there's never going to be a prince of death's exultation
deathblight got such a bad hand it's easy to forget any player-facing tools even got it
Everything that applies cold applies it by the boatload anyhow
eclipse shotel, two spells and... yeah that's it
i can't imagine a way to implement it in pve that isn't spookier bleed so, fair enough
Wish deathblight got more uses
Like I'd even take just an alt bleed that deals a big burst of damage
my thought its deathbligh acts like frost but without a burst
Just SOMETHING that would make it more useful for things beyond PvP
ive thought about making madness and deathblight frost but magic and physical
without the burst in damage
I hate how deathblight is either completely worthless or absolute horseshit to play against
It's either "this does literally nothing to what you're fighting" or "you're instantly dead now"
crusade insignia is kind of prince of death exultation 😛
kind of
||Scorpion River Catacomb|| is magical though
genuinely such a funny dungeon
The dungeons all felt great in the dlc
I've had invaders use that against me while cooping in that dungeon
Can't even be mad, it's a clever tactic
Going back to this, I think Golden Parry comes out faster than Carian Retaliation
Yeah it seems like it comes out a bit faster
It’s off, been dealing with this for a while
God, Melania's fucking FUN
Shame about Waterfowl but she's genuinely really enjoyable besides that
Probably the boss I’ve fought and experimented with most
she was a lot easier with the morgott sword than dual katanas
i think because morgott has enougyh poise damage to stagger her eevery hit
This includes a tactic where I deliberately draw as much aggro as possible with items to make sure I’m the one dealing with the waterfowl dance
Just wish Waterfowl Dance was less terrible to counter
Or shoot, even just dealt less damage
That one worked best with a mage who had the big laser spell, they knocked her out of the wind up for wfd
Speaking of staggering, Rellana's twin blades are GREAT for this fight
Fast and they stagger her constantly
....but hole
Hey
we were talking about the previous owner of Torrent
and how that may have been Marika
wildcard pitch
It's ACTUALLY Radagon
i think its refering to melina
My evidence?
Radagon also has 3 wolves
now so does miquella if that statue posted earlier is to be believed, and has official art riding torrent
Why are there so many people who have three wolves
This shirt sold fucking numbers in the Land Between
oh yeah speaking of statues
||Haligtree one matches the one of Marika in Messmer's room||
i always assumed it might have been godwyn, unless he looks really like his mother
no braid though
hmmmm
theres a little bit of a curve to the chest, but its ambigious
I could see it being Radagon, too?
He had a good relationship with Miquella
I know post dlc ||people were asking if it was young Radahn||
Isn't it kinda weird that Marika seemed to by all accounts be a shitty mom but Radagon seems like he was an alright dad
and if Marika split off a piece of herself to make Radagon, I think this was definitely in the part she split off
||like the divine tonics for Messmer in the dlc say: Marika once created several of these physicks for Messmer's sake. But never again.||
IIRC someone made fanart of ranni wearing this
could've been that she split off her 'attachment' in order to banish Godfrey, lock away Messmer, etc
now im honestly wondering if miyazaki just saw those shits
and thats the out of universe explanation
||Radagon's character arc is very much about reaching for prefection / completion, or bringing disparate elements together. Maybe in their split, Marika became about pushing things away?||
Wish we could have gotten more Godfrey interactions
The only evidence of familial shit from him we have is his interaction with fading Morgott iirc
||his rune is a lattice a trellis that holds and binds the rune, however he wasnt a great husband, i still think he was a seperate person before fusion together honestly ||
i must have totally missed this what
||from the st trina stuff, i feel like split-halves are leaning towards more "what the other is missing" rather than two different elements - like the implication that st trina IS the loving side that miquella rejected rather than a similar person w opposite aims or smth||
I actually think ||he did geniunely love Rennala, but was called back / needed to go (or made the decision to leave) in spite of that||
||like, radagon might have also similarly been the part that cared about unifying things, where marika got sidetracked by revenge etc.?||
I saw an interesting take the other day that the Dectus Echo of Marika was from Marika to Radagon, after Godfrey's banishment
on the path between Liurnia and Leyndell

Godfrey holds Morgotts dying body in the cutscene before you fight him and is seemingly incredibly distraught about his sons fate
||"The Erdtree governs all. The choice is thine. Become one with the Order. Or divest thyself of it. To wallow at the fringes; a powerless upstart."||
I think they were cookin' a little bit, injects some extra tragedy to the whole thing
citation very needed, since he actually has six wolves
morgotts body is one of the few bodies in the souls games that are like, visibly on the map after you kill them, and stay there
Notably, this manifests in the form of Serosh letting out an incredible roar
well. five (unless he is the Champion, in which case the Red Wolf of the Champion is also his)
Since Godfrey himself is sorta limited in his emotional expression
He has the bearing of a lord, which is a product of Serosh upon his back
Serosh roaring like that is imo a great expression of Godfreys sorrow
its still not clear how or when they show up
oh not remotely
I think from ||what happens to Trina||, and how Radagon is treated, that there is an 'original' in the relationship
Radagon was an amazing husband from what's seen
||"hound of the Golden Order, thou are yet to become a god"|| type stuff
Rennala adored him and the divorce did seem to be the major thing that shattered her psyche
though taking his old wedding gift and reforging it for the golden order was kind of a dick move
That's a question if he had free will in that decision
||i mean, we now know for 100% sure that radagon is part of marika but marika came first, since radagon was not involved in the land of shadow stuff||
specifically i was under the impression that was the plan though
I kept it as a possibility until the dlc ||shed light on the Saint Trina stuff||
But why elevate and take the kids with him?
Feelsbadman for Rennala
||i think she might have absorbed him with her flesh melding powers to be a consort and god as one being, rather than him being a fragment like trina - that he was his own beforehand||
Honestly he feels like such a nonentity in everyone but Miquella’s life
though theres the question of if Messmer was a child of Radagon
almost certainly
The most Radahn has to say about him is he likes his hair (which Radagon hates)
I wonder about that
Because Radagons red hair is iirc a thing that he got from the war with the giants
A curse from them
||i havent been convinced radagon wasnt his own person honestly before they were merged the giant's whip really leans into him having being a decendent of giants which wouldnt be hte case if he was created from marika||
imo the Minor Erdtree Church echo of Marika is actually from him, he did found(?) GO Fundementalism
Yeah Rennala was really dependent on him but his actual kids with her actually seem somewhat dismissive of him
There is a possibility
That Radagon (the man) and Radagon (the god) are actually two individually seperate entities
I personally subscribe to the wild speculation/mass guessing that Radagon started as a Beast of some kind and rebirthed himself with the Amber Egg into his more humanoid form
Because the only positive thing any of them have to say about him is about a trait of his he hates
Could have been a misbegotten or similar
I personally think Radagon is from Zamor
There was a mortal named Radagon descended from giants that Marika took as husband, but took into herself and the Radagon we see is but a vessel and sliver of her personality
Radagon is surprisingly intertwined with the Misbegotten
I think the misbegotten thing is an artifact
It's hard to say
Heck, one even has his sword
Fromsoft lore moment
Because the misbegotten are aesthetically really tied to Radagon's Red Wolves
this but also they use Misbegotten for stand-ins for Radagon
One of them also has his marriage sword
the same way the Fell Twins are stand ins for Mohg and Morgott
We'll never know for certain, but it's fun to speculate
If you buy the theory that he's the Champion of Morne, two Leonine misbegotten wield his swords.
Well you see as a fujoshi with an entire library of yaoi, Rennala fell into despair when her long-haired prettyboy left her and--
i'm pretty sure radagon the dude on screen is objectively not from anywhere thats not marika
one of the wildest things about the Champion of Morne is that all evidence points to him having fought the golden order, but he's remembered as a Hero
like he had a background where he was trying out different things but its explicitly stated he always wanted to be "complete"
and thats why he was studying different things at different places
he did combat, sewing, sorceries, incantations, blacksmithing...
Given what we know about Marika the evidence is now stronger that he was originally independent
radagon the dude on screen is obviously part of marika, i wouldn't say "not from anywhere else"
i think it's intentionally quite ambiguous
dlc spoilers ||i'm also inclined to believe the red hair is directly a fell god's curse now more, since i think messmer being also cursed with fire from an external source + fact that marika realized she couldn't actually get rid of the fell god entirely makes me believe that she got stuck with it afterwards.||
There is a question of,
If Marika was planning the Shattering from when Godfrey was banished, why was Radagon the second Elden Lord?
There's significant evidence that he's both independent and only a part of Marika
what exactly the shaman merging does, and how independent radagon originally was, and what all the misbegotten's connection is to him is all pretty ambiguous and mysterious
the carian royalty had a thing for red haired emo boys it seemeth
as is their right

Actually part of the evidence that Radagon was an independent being and not tied to Marika is that his line with Renalla is the only one completely free of any kind of born curse
All of Marika's children sans Godwyn are all fucked up
True
who benefits from this? Why would Marika have it happen, if their goals were so opposed?
HOWEVER
This means that two normal humans can give birth to an Empyrean
since Ranni isn't a "natural" demigod
i'm honestly not 100% sure on that one either
i'm still not certain that radagon's kids didn't retroactively become demigods
I mean Marika was one and came from somewhere
when he fused with marika
also the magic element, yeah
or they were always Demigods but not considered as such, because Radagon is Marika (and this isnt known)
but also we do see the hornsent grandam, who's still explicitly an empyrean
wait fucking what
Theres also the other read of ||Trina, that shes "Miquella's Love" in a romantic sense||, which might apply to Radagon
her name is (was? idk if it got patched) Empyrean Grandam in some items
(I think it means she was a grandma to Empyreans but Fromsoft Lore™️)
That was my read also
||Messmer is described as being born of “an affair that gave rise to gold” in believe, which implies that Marika at some point had an extramarital tryst with Radagon, which is an odd way to word things if they began as a single entity||
||But its also depicting whatever she did at the divine gate, and claims 'so too was shadow born' - I think its refering less to the birth of any of her children, and more the birth of the Erdtree||
||affair as 'series of events' instead of 'sex'||
though ||Messmer was also old enough to be as / an older brother to Radahn, so there was probably something going on out of Lordship between them||
Radagon did 'come out of nowhere' according to Miriel
which is also what the base game says of Saint Trina
Yeah Messmer being the oldest child chronologically, seemingly, throws everything for a loop
I've heard a relatively compelling theory that Radagon is some aspect of herself that Marika cast off
Yeah we've been discussing it
Ah ok, I wasn't sure what the start was
The two main camps people are in is largely "Was Radagon ever a normal man and thus fused with Marika" or "Was he ultimately only just a facet of Marika that was removed"
I lean towards the second
but its weird
theres also the D-twins, which draw a parallel with R/M
1 soul, two bodies, never standing together - only accepted by the GO
so Radagon and Marika are 2 souls, one body?
As the husband of Rennala of Caria, the red-haired Radagon studied sorcery, and as the husband of Queen Marika, he studied incantations. Thus did the hero aspire to be complete.
What the fuck did this mean
He was going for the platinum trophy
Also apparently the lore about Radagon reforging the greatsword is different in Japanese
And it makes it sound like he made it as a reminder of the Dark Moon Sword as an affection for his time with Rennala
Be nice if you could get two of the same item from duped remembrances
Given how limited the remembrance duping is it doesn't feel like it'd really be too strong
yeah theres not even that many choices it would actully be useful on
the entire list of stuff i could see being reasonable useful is
grafted dragon, giants red briad, and hand of maleina
For me it was Rellana's twin blades
Was wanting to powerstance them so I could have two of the light greatswords rather than an LGS and a longsword
The longsword part is nice, but the LGS part is nicer
i have no idea how that works with that weapons specificly
...ah, dammit, left hand weapon will always be the fire blade apparently
Oh well, it's not AWFUL by any means
what is the powerstanced moveset
is it the same on the twin swords as normal
or does it have its own
If you power stance it with itself it's the same as the regular twin swords moveset yeah
it is interesting that you can wield it in the left or right hand for faith or int scaling respectively, though
what happens if you powerstance it with milady and try to use its art
I honestly have no idea, but usually stance arts will sheathe whatever's in your other hand
WAIT
Okay
hold on
||What the FUCK is Malekith then?||
||If Marika is just a normal human shaman, how is Malekith her "half-brother"?||
afaik ||in japanese its closer to 'blood-brother' / uses the same words as Blaidd being a 'step-brother'||
||I mean, she's a normal human shaman up until she becomes a God, at which point the Two Fingers (at least that's who Ranni says provides them) give her a "shadow" as her bodyguard. Gods/empyreans seem to form very close bonds with their shadows, since Iji also refers to Blaaid as becoming like a brother to Ranni||
||Yes but the description in English is that they are literally siblings||
||I mean, it's Elden Ring; I think taking it at literal face value considering everything else is not really gonna lead anywhere||
Lmao what a name
...well, that's Malenia down
Not a lot else to do in this playthrough
Suppose I'll look and see if there's any weapons or armor I wanna grab before I head into NG+2
Oh yeah have i shared this one yet? SOTE final boss spoilers

what is this helmet
The helmet that creature's wearing?
aye
Shadow militia
thx
Of course
...so apparently
I was wearing my gold scarab talisman during the Malenia fight
Lmao
Netted me some extra cash I guess
Early game dungeon bosses become a JOKE with palm blast. Like, wtf?
the vulgar militia joined the shadow wizard money gang
it's so good
They hate me castin spells
oh wow. Rellana's armor actually goes pretty well with blue silver mail
which is nice because blue silver mail has always been a nice set that's hard to color match with anything else
more things to go with the programmer socks hat :)
oh, people do that yeah
Funny
it's a bit
Okay, took a few days away, changed up my build for the final dlc boss, and on my first try with said new build got to phase 2, while only using ashes and npcs, for the first time! I’ve only seen it once while helping with a different build
Definitely need more practice with this kit though
Genuine Question: Why the heck are Dry Leaf Arts so effective in early game Limgrave?
the weapon or skill
probally ebcause they didn't expect you to have it then
both are pretty good against anything with low stagger-resistance
i do think the stats on some of the dlc weapons are slightly higher than average in the base game
not poise but like. whatever number covers the hitstun effect
ive noticed a lot have better guard
Like, I'm just stomping some dungeons, but a full-charged PB is doing like 1/3 of boss hps at 14str/14dex and one or two full light combos staggers most bosses
is this NG+? or dropped item
Dropped item
It's Limgrave
EVERYTHING is effective there
To some degree, yes. But I'm having a MUCH easier time at a lower level than sorceries or a dex polearm build
the stagger on them definitely punches above their weight, i feel
heh, punches
Your riding heavy with the DLA is also just an open hand slap, which is 💯
NG++
This is no joking matter, it's RICK, mightiest of foes in all the Lands Between
I barely made it out of there alive
(Read: I mulched 75% his health with a Comet and finished him off with a parry)
...man is it ever nice to not see a sky full of fire
Rick, Solider of God is a running joke
since he's a totally generic troop given bombastic boss music
I know that. Wamly's picture just contained dlc gear and he doesn't respawn, so I was wondering if Wam was on ng+ or had just not done the tutorial for the express purpose of the meme
Oooh
Beat the Red Bear
Yay!
OMF WTF ahahaha
you know that supuid
annoying
obnoxious Spira spell?
teh one that gets spammed form underneath you?
you can parry it with carrian retilation
Looool
Amazing
I'm belruit towers praciting my parries on things
oh, nice
Eeeeeeh
trying to parry the bloody Big cleaver shadows
It seems pretty whatever as a player incant
too easily dodged
hilariousyl, the Horncalling AoW are very good
mm, damn
Yeah it’s mostly just there
yeah Horncalling goes insane
I did a build with Horncalling Storm for pvping just to give it a whirl with all the +storm effects
and uh
it went fucking berserk insano
Stompstompstomp
I was mulching ganking parties with it
Also i have pretty much got parrying Horned warriors down reliably
it's very satisfying =3
Even the dual wield ones!
and tehre silly spin to win combo!
(You have to wait to right till their hand slows as they're drawing it back - when it's bacially come to a stop they're about acclerate foward and that's when you hit parry)
and BAM
Is melee just.... easier for early game than sorcery?
It really depends on the fight
like sorcery incant has the infamous "I cast comet azure and the boss does not get to play"
I should try and finagle that ancient meteoric blade back into my build, i remember loving the shit out of it
and melee has "Club. I cast club."
i think early early game, sorcery struggles a lot with trying to get decent fp amounts to use
Mohg is significantly harder in melee than with even a bow imo
Really?
He's kinda a joke to me >.>
he has no poise, no real melee reistances
he just folds
since you run out of FP super quick if you have like 5-6 flasks total, and only 15 or so mind
Big ol' blood sack to stab
and you don't have the damage to offset that yet
Yeah bow run slaughtered mohg but i had actual trouble with him on my dex fighter
Also early game you are up against static defences
which really hurt split damage early
within ambiguous cast / spear attack range
this is on purpose, because from soft bosses train you to linger in that rangeband
but late game you start getting so many stacking damage modifers, and resitances manage to overshoot
so suddenly multihit spells go nuts
and single target dmaage does start to fall off
so.... "probably, but not for all fights"?
but melee generally stays good because AoW abuse
I... honestly ithink it is overall easir ofr everything
but also like
hwo to put
the entire theme of the game is that the Tarnished is not static.
We keep moving foward
we loose to malenia with our fancy footwork?
We come back with a club, junmp her thrust, and introduce her head to the pavement
Counterpoint: maybe it's a skill issue on your part
(Malenia is infamously very easily killed by jump pancaking her with various attacks)
Bow build comically slaughtered mohg though it was hilarious. Two tries and the first was a mutual kill
Also Godfrey, oddly
Bow build is so damn hard
It;'s true, i am better than you =3
Malenia, Gideon, Malekith, Fire Giant…all of these took a fair few attempts tho
true
oh yeah
Godfrey with my poison and bleed arrows?
Cakewalk
Took me two tries
Yeah i just gutted him first try
And that's just cause I didn't have my bleed arrows the first time
After dozens of deaths to gideon it was rather refreshing
Oh, wait wait
Not Godfrey, Godrick
That's who I trashed
Godrick took a few tries because i was still getting good with the bow moveset
It's the same but with more lion killing and angry roaring
Totally fair
tbh i can see it though, Godfrey seems very vulernable to jum, ping arrow attacks
that was also the run where I learned that Godrick's wind moves deflect arrows
they can hit you
his storm stomp is actually an arrow shield that sends them flying right back at you
If oyu time it right, you can do the same with Zamor Storm
lmao nice
I wish there was a way to buy stormwing feathers, then maybe I could actually use stormhawk arrows
I think the same is true with Stormstomp things
that'd be cool
apparently they're boosted by the divine beast talisman, which I think is really funny
"It has storm in the name, I guess it counts"
there's at least a pretty decent farming spot near the first grace
but yeah it's bad
Extremely fair Miriam's Vanishing combos #1: vanish into Inescapable Frenzy
Bahahaha
The conseumable discussion always fascinates me
esp the psychological trap of "I if u se it, iwont have it to use later"
it's a huge problem for people!
(i'm very sympathetic to it
It's just a very interesting psyhcological *thing8
another skill solution tier warp cast is to teleport into the AoE burst of Placidusax's Ruin
I've found exactly 1 consumable that I 👀 about wanting to use but also spooked about using
So at 10 arcane with the silver scarab hat (+75) and the silver bud tender (+60) you'd have a 235 discovery which makes drop rate...
(.15 * 2.35) / (1 - .15 + .15 * 2.35) = .29313929313 or about 29% chance of dropping the stupid feather
yeah comsumabnles are stupid compared to their non conmsaule counterparts
weaker, often require the same state investment, and require lots of farming for regular use
firepots being the main exception
I dont fully agree. THe way i see it, there's like... 4 categorieso f conseumable
Pots are pretty good in general
a lot of it could be fixed just by letting is actully buy the matrials at reasonable prices
There are the reaosnble ones that provide a short, useful effect, and shouldnt really be something you always have acess too.
Silver Horn Tenders and Gold Horn Tenders are great examples here.
There is the stuff you should be able to rely on, but can't. A lot of the cracked pot and other crafting items are here
There's the stuff that the fact it's a conseuamble isnt a problem, it's the everything else - Rune Arcs
i honestly think it would be better if they just drasitcly boosted the item find in general and the silver conusmables didn't exist
Also a few oddballs like crystal darts, cuckoo Glintstones, and spark aromatics
(where the issue is that Great Runes are binary, and that's what sucks)
nobody liked the coins in 2
And then there's stuff you can buy - Kurki, other throwing knives
these are fine
My personal soloution would be to basically try and split things up into three categories, plus a rework to rune arcs
at release i think a lot of the berrings you got from bell hunter had the items 2-3 times their current price
Category one: Reuseable crafting items. THese would work off the Cracked Pot Logic.
Eg across t he game you can find Eternal Scorching Butterflies - buit only, say 20 of them.
So if you wanna make 20 Fire pots, sweet, you have 20 fire pots, but you aren't making any Fire Grease or whatever until you use up those fire pots.
Horn Tenders, etc, i'd leave alone (and just move the fowl feet etc into this case, and make sure they're reasonbly generous)
Some crafting materials i'd shift oiver to being stuff you can simply purchase for runes at reasonble prices, in infinite quanities
I would personally let people buy or craft quivers with the associated effects, rather than buying or crafting individual arrows
i really dislike how low the arrow limits are
when they were 999 nobody was going "wow this is so overpowered"
QUivers are a great idea, and you can always make it so they auto-regenrate or something if you wanna keep stuff like Spread shot in check
(Eg so you cannot just shotgun bolts willynilly)
Oh, interesting, I've never tapped a full arrow pool, but maybe in later encounters it might come up
and rune arc's i'd rework so that a:
Great Runes have an always on passive effect (say godricks always givies you +2 to all your stats), while Rune arcs are something that you can use, the use animation is super fast, and they give you a dramatic power u p for a short window
(Eg Godricks suddenly boosts all your stats by 20, but it's only for like 30s or something, and has some other effects. Basically an OH SHI that's awesome power up)
Though in genral i would rather avoid "maintence" buffs - Buffs are better if they're somethign you weave into combos, and are balanmmced around those expeations
the current state of buffs is just awkard
Yeah this has been the real bane for bow only
I have absolutely run completely out of arrows in some fights
Wish this helmet didn't have the chess piece on top, it's so fucking good looking otherwise
there was not a good reason to reduce them ever
Thought I suppose the chess piece gives it character
Even the 600 storage limit has bitten me in the ass a few times, as i chew through my stock at a stake of marika and end up having to leave the dungeon
in the game they first reduced them bows were at their weakest not worth using even for utility
i think the only time i ever used a bow in 3 was to aggro or snipe something off a cliff
there are a lot of consumables which are common enough to stack some 30 of but just rare enough that the hoarding instinct kicks in
theoretically infinite but a huge pain to farm, so they're functionally limited
sacramental buds, arteria leaves, rune arcs as previously noted
string was also a huge one but at least that one got a bell bearing in the dlc
Storm arrows
yeeeep
oooof, yeah that's a big one in the ammo side
I know there's one Arteria Leaf plant near the First Step grace, so there's that to consider
It's not quick by any means but it's at least easy to farm
Arteria leaves don't respawn.
in the world.
The only renewable source is the hoary frost trolls in Flame Peak, which drop them at 30%
Yeah, arteria leaves are very goofy given the best use of them
is a buff you want to keep casting
for the bubble
Hey, no slut shaming
Ditto Aeonian Butterflies, which are an 8% drop from Rot Basilisks and a 1% drop from Kindred of Rot and otherwise nonrenewable
...okay that's flat out untrue, I keep running into respawning aeonian butterflies
Again: There's a reason I think that "Quivers" instead of individual arrows make a huge amount of sense
i would love to know where, because I assure you they do not respawn in any of my tests
Aeonian Butterfly found in the overworld do not respawn after resting at a site of grace.
and if there's a non-cancerous source of rot arrows, I would like to know
honestly I wish specifically the ones in Malenia's boss lobby respawned
would avoid making rot arrows universal in the earlygame but would allow easy gathering for later
Preach
then there's the just plain weird ones like black key bolts and golem great arrows
Black Key Bolts are totally unique right
They tend to spawn in massive enough groups that it's easy to miss some the first time around
Like you can never get more
yeah there's a flat limited number of them in the game
that's correct
I mean, if the material needed to craft a "Rot-Soaked Quiver" was a post-Radahn drop, I'd allow it
that many per new game cycle
golem great arrows are farmable but absolutely awful to farm
now
golem's magic arrows are worse
because they only fucking drop from the two golems on the way to the great-jar
and there are zero other sources of them in the game, even in single nonrenewable bundles
I think ds2 had something similar with bleed arrows, but at least there you could use bonfire ascetics and also bleed was terrible in ds2
Those exist?
extremely obscure ammo
yep
Black-Key Bolt is a special ammunition that cannot be crafted but a total of 90 are found throughout the game.
This is so gross to me for some reason
Like, if they're so powerful that players can't even get a full stack, why are they in the game at all to start with?
all that nonsense basically turned me away from crafting & arrow type stuff for the whole game. only throwable i used consistently were crystal darts because those are piss easy to make
they're okay
rotbone bolts are good
and they're strictly better rotbones
but like
not by a massive margin
40 damage, 100 crit, have some degree of ap, and 60 rot
Rotbones have like 5 less buildup
Yeah
It's a difference so minuscule it baffles me why Black Keys are so rare
Idk, I think it’s fine that they’re really limited
Just cause it’s like
A flavor thing
And they’re not actually important
They're basically a flavor thing\
like Emily said
my actual objection to Black key bolts is it creates a Cheaters Prosper issue
?
Mhm
but have zero kind of checking that you can dump them in via cheat engine
Or do save backup shennagins if you're on ps5
Marika Blessings are another one
This has been somewhat ameroliated by the update to colissuem making it so invaders get their items refunded
Eh, i dont agree they're werid as hell
A ton of From's odder decisions make sense when you realize they're very Watsonian in how they do stuff
that is, they do narrative first.
and everything is internally coherent for narrative reasons
Mariak's blessing are limited because marika only made a few of them
Now, from a game design pov, it's werid as fuck and creates issues
and it's endlessly fascainting to me
but like that friciton point is i think part of why their games have so much charm for people
There’s never gonna be an issue where like
even if i dont see people always recongizing it
Your build doesn’t work because you ran out of Marika’s blessings
So I don’t really care on that end
It’s stuff like blood vials that make me legit mad lol
Yeah, it's only the "Too Precious to Use" psycholigcal trap, and the cheaters prosper parts that bug me
Iirc, blood vials were the estus equiv
except you had to farm them?
or somethign insane?
(I never played Blodoborne)
Yes
it was that and like holy water pots to cheese a deathbird once
They replenished on rest but FROM your stockpile
So you could basically run into a situation where you’re doing too bad and are punished with mindless grinding
funnily enough mimic tears copying what's in your item bar has cropped up with some people giving it marika's blessing. would make me incredibly paranoid about misclicking but it exists
Yeah
It’s pretty strong like that
But honest at that point I say use the meat dumplings
I've done it!
and sucsceuflly accdinetally drunk my blessing too 😄
They also do massive healing and aren’t at risk of disappearing forever lol
(The mimic is immune to poison)
huh, it is?
I need to rember those things exist, lol
thought it'd have the same status resistances as the player
Also the dlc added the really good craftable fp restoerer
At the very least it can’t poison itself
ah
Me when sharks are smooth:
the biggest draw of the dlc for me wasn't the cool bosses or the fashion or the lore or the new open world it was the talisman that regenerates fp
It's so damn good
I keep waffling on it
becuase it's good
but also slow
but also good
but also
slow
.5 / sec
Restores 1 point of Focus every 2 seconds (0.5 FP per second) when equipped.
No record of a nerf
Wild okay
Also, lol, apparnetly the reason why Gold Horn Tenders are hard to get
are because the enemeys who drop them are bugged
and don't respect item drop
even setting it to max via cheat engine will not make them drop it
(consistneyl)
while any other enemey will vomit all it's drops
very funny
