#Elden Ring (DLC hype room)
1 messages · Page 48 of 1
I mean, sure, but we see the Manflies are all living in water runoff from the Rauh Ruins no
Just saying, it’s a disease that turns ya into a bug-person
Romina’s a bug-lady-saint-thing
Godwyn's also got flies buzzing around deathblight brambles
That he does, insects are not exclusive to the Rot
Is scarlet rot that bad? Aside from it having first to wipe out all existence that was before it.
there's a lot of bugs y'know
Anyone who helped tend to/alleviate the symptoms of the man-flies did not get infected. This matters and I don't know why.
It does seem like all kinds of funky life comes along with/from rot.
decay is an extant form of life
it does seem to cause unspeakable harm to everything it touches
Nah I’d win
I like to believe that the Cleanrot Knights will someday be rewarded for their faithfulness to their lady by shedding their armour and spreading beautiful wings
(Yeah it’s scary)
YES BUTTERFLY YURI
I would call that pretty wack
B-but Malenia pretty…
Knowing Malenia she'd probably be horrified
Most likely
Yeah true maybe the rot isn’t all that good
Now do we still know if ||Moquella abandoned Malenia||
The Rot seems to like, instill instinctual loyalty to Malenia in victims who survive
I'm sure it would be fine. ||LET ROT TAKE THE WORLD||
The Rot is clearly more than a disease or a decay because it simply does not touch those who cared for the man-flies
and any creatures that spontaneously generate from it, like the kindred, appear to have adoration of her as a basic trait
Assuming the Man Flies are born of the Rot
Yeah, fair, but there’s other cases where the Rot just kinda… doesn’t do what it usually does
Do we have much information about kindred of rot?
not much
Not much
there's a bit
but in the base game, the Kindred of Rot believe that being infected is a gift
Aside from them being presumably somehow spawned from ut?
Cleanrot Knights are just different
so being kind to the infected would be rewarded with...being infected
current scarlet rot, probably
but rot as a concept, probably not
They’re just built different, I want to think sacrificing themselves to bear Malenia’s curse means something relative to that
like the forager brood items say all fermentation is rot
Unless you kill her and give millicents needle replacing the unalloyed gold needle which you take
That makes the third bloom which will hopefully fix things in a few hundred years
Things are never simply malign by nature in Souls games, it’s a weird but tender element of the way these games are written
imo it says "Formless Mother" more to me
what with the flies, blood spellcasters nearby, and the ones who cared not getting affected (Formless Mother has like, a little bit of a 'love for the unloved' thing going on)
The R children are excluded from being cursed because they’re not produced of taboo
they all had "curses" later in life
Them and Godwyn basically
yeah the Formless Mother has a bit of Goddess of Misfits going on
but yeah, they were exempt
cursed from having Red Hair
Whereas as far as we can tell the Rot sees itself as sublime beauty
Oh right, the G line. So easily forgotten.
The children of Radagon and Marika were cursed, probably because Radagon is Marika... except that Ranni is an Empyrean and Radahn was inexplicably Large. And I heard a suggestion that Godwyn had or was connected to Deathblight before his death?
I must admit, those spellcasters never brought out anything for me except the buff
So if they do blood sorcery, I missed that shit lol
radahn wasn't inexplicably large
Ranni being Empyrean is not a curse and notably she has no imbued Outer God fuckery curse to go along with it
he was just normal large
as was ranni
and as such presumably rykard
so is rennala
Radahn’s largeness is completely explicable
people with power are just pretty big
Ranni's body is pretty big.
Power just makes you huge in Elden Ring
Its magic bro he ain't gotta explain shit
Rykard's face is pretty big on that snake
You literally have a skill issue if you’re short in the Lands Between
Go kill some monsters or something
Imagine that fight but Rykard’s face was normal person sized
pfft
I thought Radahn was explicitly called out as big but maybe I'm wrong, and Malenia and Miquella are both Empyreans and cursed and I suspect those two facts are roughly equivalent?
pulls a player model blasphemous blade
out of a normal sized mouth
wields it with the giant fucking snake hands
i know some people think Radahn practiced Dragon Communion
You see uh
As a hopeless romantic I must say Malenia can do no wrong
Malenia and Miquella, like the kindling children, are children of a single god and therefore Empyrean on both sides lol
hm, nothing really points to that besides caelid imo
She’s just misunderstood
and the dragon blessing he got was "get big"
At least I kinda assume Messmer and Melina were Empyrean and simply discarded because they were relieved of their Special Eyes
Messmer ||had the serpent in his eye, along with the kindling inside|| was Melina just ||kindling||?
Messmer got a bum ass replacement, Melina lost her whole ass body
[Insert here a bad theory that Melina is the guidance of grace]
Wack
honestly i wouldn't have been surprised if Melina was Marika pretending to be not-Marika
It's been all but stated external influences dwell within the eyes. And I absolutely love the fact that we could have gotten much more melina lore and instead we... didn't. We got confirmation of something that was kind of suspected, and that's it.
Shake Melina down for exposition.
Melina isn’t even in the DLC so we can’t bully her for more lore smh
I kinda miss my travelling companion
I wish she showed up more tbh
Mandatory Vigor Checks for Hornsent
Like, if she showed up every time you leveled up if something
i'm kinda fine with her only showing up when she actually has something to say
it'd be nice if you could just call her and sit by the fire with her though
the proverbial fire. Look, you sit next to the grace like it's a bonfire anyway
that said yeah it'd be kind of nice to hang out with her in the dlc
I wish the Roundtable Hold had bit more regular faces
on the other hand it'd be depressing to miss all that in a save where she is no longer alive (or just no longer present)
To me it just feels like she isn’t around often enough for me to notice anything changing after she dies
I really want a DLC where we meet her in the afterlife
make it so that every time you summon torrent there's a 5% chance she's just riding behind you cuddling
Cuddling you or cuddling Torrent?
yes
Okay but that’s setting you up for heartbreak later no matter what
Melina DOES leave your dog ass, Tarnished
I think that's the point.
I maintain that any run of a "golden" ending includes accepting the frenzied flame long enough to burn the tree, then purging it with the needle. She'll be mad, but she probably will forgive you someday. Probably.
Yeah, I want to actually feel her absence when she dies
Agreed
I respect her right to chose her purpose
tbh most of the quests where an npc dies but gets what they want I see as good endings
they got their ambitions
Agreed
I hate when ||gaius|| randomly passes through my spells.
Oh i know the feeling, i fought him with some friends earlier and seeing || him unintentionally duck my black flame balls was annoying||
One area I feel is a bit of a mistep on that front is not really establishing mr 'Told In Blood's' servant as a character in the first visit there before you later find her dead.
...it feels odd that despite telling myself I'd do a dex build and beating Mohg way earlier than you're supposed to so I could get milady and backhand blades, I just ended up going "fuck it" and going all in on the marais executioner sword instead
I guess the dlc does have the putrid cleaver and ancient meteoric sword if I ever want to switch off of it
I am terrible at committing to runs as it turns out
Hahaha
@frail sky for what it's worth, when i started my streamed run, i was like "Okay, wer're going strenght faith, here's why etcera"
Currently: Heavy dex, some fiath, Milady.
Pffffft
So don't feel bad
(I say all in but I’m not killing Millicent this run, I can just use the two handed talisman instead of her prosthesis and even get a better damage buff from it)
i PUBLICALLY SAID WHAT I WAS DOING for reaosns of teaching the game
and then i failed ON STREAM
mostly because i kept picking upggreatswords and going these are great! I really the kNight's greatswoprd moveset! It makes me want to play MIlady!
...fuck it, we Milady.
I really wanna do light greatswords but dex is not my friend
beast clergyman might honestly be one of the most annoying required bosses in the game. up there with gideon
in particular, the fact that you can stand directly under him and be unable to hit him with short weapons, is mildly irritating
LMFAO
I FUCKING FORGOT I WENT DOWN AN ELEVATOR AND NEVER SENT IT BACK UP
AND I FUCKING LOONEY TOONS FELL TO MY DEATH
That was fucking funny, goddamn
...also, interesting little detail I just noticed, there appears to be little glintstones appearing in the runes you drop
Fascinating
I wonder if that has any real implications
Fwiw, it does fine heavy (esp if going two handed) and does well Magic/Sacred/Flame Art.
You only need to dex it up for Quality, Keen, Blood and Cold
not sure if the devs meant anything by it, but ||Glintstone and Runes both carry the energy of life||
so they're at least connected
Hm
admittedly i don't two hand often, i tend to have my seal or shield on hand at all times
Holy SHIT I fucking LOVE PLACIDUSAX
This dude fucking RULES
OH my god
Such a thematic fight
...wish he had more health though, even with my shitty 628 AR Obsidian Lamina he's getting killed quite fast
Ah fuck it, i'll give it a try, worst case i just switch back
Mmm that seems rough
...debating if I wanna help or kill Millicent
Cause on one hand, Prosthesis Talisman
On the other, I don't want to betray her
Man
Having finished the dlc now
||Holy shit the Miquella/Griffith parallels run deep huh||
||casting aside everything for a world of “kindness” that must ultimately be controlled and brought about through horrors and atrocities||
||including violating and nearly killing one of the people who trusted you most in the world (Melania, in the case of of Miquella||
||Idk much about Griffith, but is he nearly as well-intentioned?||
||From what I've heard, he seemed more self interested, while Miquella is driven by geniune desire to improve life for people||
||ehhhhHHhhh arguably. He wants to create a genuinely good kingdom, at least whatever that looks like - with some expression of desire for the good it would bring people||
nvm flame skewer makes this thing fun as hell
...ugh
Obsidian Lamina really could go for a buff
Namely a reduction in the stamina use, this thing fucking eats through stamina
...could also go without the longass pause when you use the weapon art
Eh. AR's passable at least.
And the Bleed buildup
Hella stylish too
I think thats better than my prior look honestly
(banished knight helm will not leave my inventory until there is another helm that gives me a shawl AND covers my face)
Banished knight helm fucks
i just feel generic using it but also like
shawls are so fuckin' rare on helmets
even rarer on a full helm
anyone wanna play elden ring in VC?
Either help or be helped with bosses or whatever?
I do love comedy invasions
I still kinda want to make a level 50 character, beast claws etc, and just invade early game areas while named "A Bear"

#eldenring #eldenringshadowoftheerdtree #eldenringdlc #shadowoftheerdtree
I think my favorite invasion type is people running over, drinking Thollier's concoction, and just dying.
"hold on bro I gotta drink my lean" 💀
i find it deeply funny that my best weapo nagainst horned warroirs is the halo sickle
the frost warroir however is deeply unfunny
He's a jerk! I remember finding some way to reliably do him in, but he's a jerk
i think they are the worst enemy in the dlc
thats a regular thing
not to menion the walk back is painful
just havelmonstesr that kill you in 3 hits while having 6 hit combos
I just ran past
this boss is nothing but stomps and eye blinding firework explosions
its completely rng if you die or not
and its dead
I think milady technically has higher ar on strength or quality builds
milady has higher dex scaling by a solid amount, and none of the str infusions beat their dex equivalents
although quality does win eventually bc quality
just takes a ton more levels
AR calculator is saying it does more damage at 80 str than 80 dex
Also does 607 damage at 50/50 quality
(These are all assuming you're two handing it)
I'm not 2 handing is the thing
but flame art has been doing wonders due to its faith scaling
If you're not two handing, it's 572 keen vs 568 heavy
That's...quite close
Yeh
close enough I'd suggest it's just preference
Min reqs
Fine, 17/80 keen is 578 damage one handed, 585 two handed
Oh okay
Honestly milady is just pretty cracked with most stat spreads
I just like it's moveset
admittedly wish the blade was a lil thicker so i didn't feel like i was holding a toothpick but hey
I wouldn't say busted, but it is incredible
it goes rather well with my current look too
I think this is tied to doing the dlc before him, even with the Scadu stuff it's still very Endgame scaled
also fun thing i learned since i had no one left to use it on
You can use an eye of grace yourself as a rune arc
ye
Yeah
mentions that in the item desc
idr what the eyes of occultation do, but they mention something similar
Same thing
3rd to last mandatory boss spoilers:
||https://fixupx.com/deadpool_yuchan/status/1812808970345857483||
i really liked that boss
its also the complete opposite of its codevien counterpart
i wish she had more health
or was broadly slightly more threatening
her attacks whiffed so much
I actually like it at its current width because it's now the best cosplay lightsaber
i think i have only two bosses i can think of
you can buff it and it looks good in any color
left
Okay, so this is wild fucking gameplay speculation but
nice
Take 50% of the final boss HP and distribute them around
I think Horned Warriors exist to train you up for the final boss of the dlc.
They have long combos that are very good at roll catching, but they're actually very bad at guard breaking you
They do not succeed if so
i think they exist to being annoying duelwielding havelmonsters
skill issue
Horned Warriors be like "Hey, is that Gundyr's Movese-"
and very vulnerable to hitbox displacement
(YOu can, with a well timed Savage Claws, dodge their entire combo and it is HILARIOUS)
They don't ||scream like a cow into a 100-death gravity combo||
|| fromsoft knew we couldn't handle the divine bovine warriors||
...You had a very different final boss experience to me
You happened to be the perfect build to counter it
I've uh, done it twice now, i had to give up on Milady the first time nad used Carian Thrusting shield
I think they punish specific kinds of players
You have to be insanely aggressive against it
second time around i beat the final boss to deaith with Beast Claws
i definitely keep trying to treat them like shitty chump enemies and smack smack them with like
middleweight weapons
and get clowned on because they're not
Because well, i was stubborn and also commited to the bit of "A bear has eaten the shadow lands"
Yeah no they’re an elite enemy
They’re the shadow equivalent of the faction knights
they don't have a ton of poise, but i haven't gotten to the DLC with anything super heavy like a greataxe or greathammer
or especially a colossal weapon
"a bear has fallen into the lands between ravine"
Prayerful Strike on the Black Greathammer is a god tier combo btw
so i can't just r1 spamlock them like i keep trying to
I’m baffled I haven’t heard more people talk about prayerful strike btw
once i actually started to respect them slightly and guard counter they got trivial
This shit is cracked
They stagger in like two jump attacks they're not so hard
Look, i'm just saying folks, if you havent played Old Lord's Talisman + Golden Vow + Bloodflame Blade on Heavy/Quality Beast Claws
You owe it to yourself to do this
it is hilarious
incorrect, they stagger on some weapons' jump attacks
YOu just jump on things and they start screaming and then they go pop
it's long since carved out a niche in various challenge runs
... huh that just made me realize
|| today's set of radahn tries will be the first time i bring GV into the fight||
there was one boss that im really glad i looked up their weakness because they resisted my entire weapo nreally really strongly
which boss/weapon?
Prayerful Strike is one of the go-to ashes for runs where you have to fight overburdened or something
twin swords boss, and morgot sword
ah
ALso great thing about using BFB over occult:" it tends to result in you chain staggering the target with Savage claws, you finish the combo, and then they're like oh "I'm safe!"
...and then the bleed pop goes off because off the six fucking bloodflame stacks on them
a lightning milady was the trick
And they flinch out of whatever they were trying to do, andi t's great
Lmao yeah I've been messing around with the bloodflame blade beast claws build myself
it's hilarious
(Like it legitemately is one of the big reasons to go BFB Heavy Beast Claws over Occult Beast Claws, just because that extra stagger is so sweet
kinda surprising considering she's broadly got Armored Enemy resistances (high bleed res, 0 lightning res, solid physicals)
It's great, isnt it!
I also really love the running heavy.
It comes out so fucking fast
and it stacks your multi-hit talsimans really effectively
i think my first challange run in elden ring will probally be magic only, just cause both of my playthoughts have been physical focused
because savage claws can get you killed against anything it doesn't chain stagger
I did prayerful for this playthrough
and ive got two other planned runs that will also be physical probally
just BEAR UP lady.
😛
It’s insane
as ready as ill ever be
(No, you're totally right, the over commitng is a big issue)
The only thing it couldn’t carry me through is the final boss
209, damn
I've been working on Rellana
It's part of why i like the Old Lord's talisman + enough faith to throw out some useful buffs
i cleared the final boss at 165
im at 190 i think
although i guess a lot of people do endgame at like 180-220
i also wear the rune scarab constantly
oh yeah it's a well-understood good ash
Also @languid tiger wait which boss is weak to pierce?
yeah i just usually lock myself to a certain level cap
prayerful strike
rellana
hits like a truck, actively keeps you alive
Oh, yeah
im in NG+ so i have a full run's worth of levels that i've built onto
0 pierce res
And you will NOT be knocked out of it
Pierce is a rare resistance in general
Yyyyyeah, in retrospect my "Oh i one shot her" and everyone's HOW!? reacitons in here were very funny
Unless you get hit by a heavy ult style attack
but hwen you realzie that Wing Stance just leaps over most her attacks and hits her with BIG DAMAGE
this is one of the rare mercies of bow run
It makes a ton of sense
I think the only normal enemy to ever knock me out of PS was the horned warrior
very few things are like "fuck you, I resist pierce, you do even less damage"
(also the funniest fucking thing is when you get wing stance timing wrong and just eat shit in mid air)
and pancake to the ground
20 vs 40 for the others phys, yeah
It one of the few things he doesn’t resist in phase 2
im in my flame skewer arc currently cause that follow up is so fun
And pierce gets the counter attack bonus
yep
In general al ot of things have a big hole to Pierce damage
i just wish more spears had less POKEPOKEPOKE movesets
lots of 'Medium armored guy"
the dlc did seem to like slash resist though
again, this is absolutely critical to doing remotely functional bow damage
i want like
Well if needs must i have my sword lance i can use if milady doesn't pan out well
thrusting but with some interesting mixups
I was actually venting about this the toehr day, i wish wepaon movests in general drew a bit more on historical manuals
maybe i should get the luecerne out
or just more like the enemies' movesets
Because like a sword? is a complicated 4 sided weapon if we're talking about english longsword styles
one issue i have with elden ring is how little varience there is in movesets within a class
The hilt and pommel are not just for show "Flip it around and use the fact you have armored gloves to hold the blade and break someone's head with the pommel" is a thing
yeah i'm just the least interested in swords, because they already get the most varied weapon types, unique movesets, and generic movesets
I'm still uppity that the sword lance doesn't do swinging heavies
it literally calls itself a mix between a greatsword and a lance but has zero wide swings
sword favoritism throughout fantasy has completely burned me out on sword love
Oh, agree - like Spears need a ton of moves that use the haft for counters etc
now i cope with cool scythes as my Generic Edgy Dickhead option of choice
I like my axes but i'm not exactly confident in trying them out in ER since i assume greataxes are slow
the dlc hasa really really fun greataxe
They were, they're... not. They're actyually kinda scary fast now
its probally the most fun one in the entire game
They could never make me hate swords
That so? i'll see if i can find a great axe i like then
and Wild Strikes
I have that death knight one i was itching to try
thats amazingly fun
it's kinda wack that sword dance is an ash that's not sword-locked, but so many others that are just "x blade" are
i wonder if it's a tl thing
it can be used to dodge some attacks and help close the distance which is really good
Are we talking Death Knight's Longhaft or Putscrence Cleaver for "Neat axe"
greataxes are probably my favorite weapon type in the game
Okay, Longhaft Death knight
i know a lot of people dislike the boar guy apprently?
admittedly my preference to one handing for incantation usages does mean i hope it does good 1h attacks
the axe helps against him a lot
greataxe 1hs are pretty good still, yeah
Best weapon art tbh
i've done like 10 different greataxe runs lmfao
He was another "Why are people hating this" "...oh, you're not running Milady Wing Stance, i get it"
...okay then don't load correctly
Which just craps all over him, because he's yet another Medium Armor Guy.
my powerstanced crescent moon axes run was one of my favorite i've done
there was one boss in this dlc i've hated and likely is the only one
and it's not even a super special unique dlc boss
i don't know if it has any iframes
Beast Claws vs Gaius was TERRIBLE
lightning crescent moon axes fucking rip the entire goddamn game apart
it's that a random ass ancient dragon on jagged peak
but ive albosutely dodged attacks with both parts of the art
Like genuinely that was a pretty horrible time
i HATED fighting that, which is weird cause i adore the dragon fights usually
but that one just had so much
the best way to beat that dragon is radhann bow
Oh yeah no that's what i was using
it was also the one fight i torrented for too
Oh, see, i just spammed the WA aiming at his head
i think in most fights torrent is a downside
I think on my Beastclaws run i pulled out Black Blade and used that
i can't think of any fight reguarlly using torrent felt like upside
Zombie you describe fights like the enemies don't ever attack you it's buckwild
gaius actually has some of the worst resistances for a boss in the game, iirc
It's like you don't factor in that that part is hard
In the dragon's case it let me jump the electric waves easier, and faster hit and run tactics since i basically jousted the thing
Watch my stream! Then watch how many times i eat shit XD
20 all phys except 40 slash
You will understand why i do not consider this worth mentioning
(I eat shit all the time)
the dlc really hates you if your using slash
ye
But also, in the case of the Dragonhunt Katana it takes you off the ground for a long time
me who mains greatswords:
and most of the risk of that dragon is his lighting attacks which ripple through the water
...so if you're busy flying through the air to anime slash his face off
Greatswords do 'Standard' damage
Which seems to be Slash but they didn't want to call it that
Slash is it's own special thing. Hoenstly having Standard damage is usally a good thing
very few things resist standard damage to any notable degree
i just like swinging at enemies with something big enough that if it connects it splats them against a wall like a fly that's all
Yeah, i agreei t's kinda silly
i like morgott's sword but it really doesnt do well in the dlc
standard is fucking dumb
but i honestly think that overall from's dmaage types system might be too complicated
it's all axes
it feels like the dlc exists just to hate it at times
Every sword is like Standard/Pierce
and some blood stuff
I feel like if we were to give standard a more evocative name it would be Chop
Because vibeswise that is what distinguishes it from slash
yeah thats how i see it
chop
i think a lot of weapos should get buffs to standout within their class in some way
for example id make the shortsword and weathered sword both have way less stamina usage
i would also spread movesets around more
i dislike that not single normal weapon can use the lazuli block
or miquella sword's thing
Lazulli block? Miquella's Sword thing?
yeah the layuzlli sword when you do a heavy blocks for a few frames
and mqueilll's sword in the tree has a special heavy attack
its not real fancy but still would be good to spread
i think adding passives or speical traits to a bunch of less than popular weapons is a good thing to do
Rellana is tough but to me the toughest has been Messmer by far (haven't fought Radahn yet)
make the noble weapons have like 5-10% more rune drops
Messmer was fun as hell
Can't wait to refight him
otherwise i only summoned stormhawk deenh
The Bayle summon doesn't even seem that OP when the dragon-slayer great katana is so OP.
They really need to put the summons for the last boss inside the door
wait deathknight axe feeling kinda good though
im tempted to just make a list of every small weapon tweak i would to make more weapons vaiable
I've been using basically exclusively Cold Milady and it fucks so hard.
Been doing same and can't decide if I want to offhand some Script Daggers for cold resetting
I'm fine with the magma sorceries but they sure aren't fast
In general what i'd like to see out of Elden Ring 2, is less weapons in general, but more distinct movesets, and a bigger empahsis on weapons having combo trees where they chain ineto each other etc
Like how mIlday's R2s can be followed up into R1s or R2s, etc
They made just having One Damn Katana feel good in Sekiro, Bloodborne has a much tighter spread.. they go either way
Just make everything feel al ot more fluid and like you're well, ifghting iwth things, because it really thwos me off when you do a R1 combo with Backahnd blades, and then hti the r2 and suddnely you're charging a lunge
and it just feels very artifical in a way i do not like
Milady with Wing stance is the most dynamic combat in the entire game. You've got 4 distinct starting moves that can be chained into 6 more follow ups and then another 6 combo chains.
I just wish it's R1 stance move was a bit better, about the onyl redeeming facotr is you can immediatley launch into the stance r2 out of it
It also stunlocks the shit out of any NPC
I've found mixed reuslst on that? I need to check vs fire knights again
I dunno, i always feel like the R1 combo is too expensive for how easy it is to get staggered out and the relative damage
Fire Knights are bigger'n NPCs
Is 51 still the best stance in the game? I get stunned by nearly all attacks with it.
while the R2 just goes "Fuck you"
Yes, because the next breakpoint is... 101.
Which you literally cannot get without Bullgoats
51 is a breakpoint for light and midweight hits
the next poise tier feels like it's for specific moves that add it
101 is what lets you eat shit without flinching
Going by Fextra - the tiers are 11,51, and 101, with a bunch of attacks (There are acutally more than there are 101, or 51 poise attacks) that cannot be endured at all
so 11 tier is projectiles, 51 tier is stuff like long sword guys, rats, dogs, 101 is the bigger two handers etc, and then the last tier is stuff like "A dragon stepped on you"
but the max avaible poise via armor is... drum roll 99.99
So you basically go for 51 poise, because otherwise you'd have to give up a talisman slot to endure hits
You are missed, Iron Flesh. You are missed.
and those are the hits that'll chunk you
so you're better off just like... slapping on something that gives you damage
They do not get close to DS1 Iron
I was literally about to metnion tehm, yes 😛
10 poise
Are those genuinely the only points poise matter? I swear the difference between 51 and 81 poise does help with some attacks
That made you damn near invincible
They’re kinda cracked tbh
So, okay, the way it actually works is that every attack does a certain amount of damage to your poise bar
And they're limited ;-;
iirc yes but they're pretty low
Poise bar is HP basically.
factually untrue
SO if an attack hits you and does 50 poise, you have 1 poise reimaing, you're fine
everything for them is extremely farmable
And then you take another hit, your poise goes to 0, and your bar resets
ironjars don't need anything from sanguine nobles
(and you flinch, ofc)
Ugh yeah, living jar shards are a pain to farm
I see I see
ohh i was thinking of the damage buff perfume
theres not really a good place to farm them really until the dlc
so more poise does in fact help with things like "Take a projectile AND a longsword hit without breaking"
jar shards are pretty easy if you clear auriza side tomb
which is probably what you're noticing @frail sky
bloodboil is a bitch and a half, yeah
Also, this is only relevant for PvE enemy poise
arteria leaves suck
In PvP it's a totally different ball game
Arteria Leafs, not Sanguine Whatevers from the DLC, that's what I meant, i was double wrong
and it's much much more complciated, depends on the butto nad hwere you are in the chain
Arteria leaves seem to be everywhere until you realize how good they are
Like daggers go 40.5 poise for the 1h r1, then 63, 63, 63, 63 and hte last sixth hit does 126 poise damage
so like
fucking lol, you aint posing through shit there.
a short sword does 135 on it's first hit, but then drops to 67.5, so you can do werid stuff where you take the first hit and then can start trading back etc
and a zwei just hits you for 460.8 poise damage.
GOOD LUCK
Oh and then i belive various weapons and there movesets have mutlipliers to all of this and shit
as do some spells and weapon arts
and it's a headache of a fucking system to understand
TLDR: For most people's purposes, 51 poise is probably enough in pve. For pvp more poise is generally better and can better enable trading
if yo ureally just want to trade hits, drink an ironjar and do that
and stay away from electricty sources for a while.
DO NOT PUT IRONJAR INTO ELECTRICAL OUTLETS.
To be fair
Its not the same animations but the thrusting shields have that exact mechanic now and its really good on them
And they're infusable
yeah its kinda silly on thse lazila sword
i think when it does it it should have honestly 100block
and like 60-70 guardboost
death knight greataxe fun
I wanna do a Deathkight with the Long-Hafted Axe, and Knight's Lighning Spear
As someone who runs the axe and KLS they can pair together r e a l l y well
Knights Lightning Spear is just fucking goated
slot it on any build and it will fuck
currently going with a martial arts run right now though
KLS
when one lightning bolt just isnt enough
it's honestly so good that the additional bolts still go off if you get staggered out of it
Knights Lightning Spear, the ultimate power
What's more powerful than a bolt of lightning? M O R E lightning!
I've noticed that I'm forming a preference for weapon arts that let me close the gap
i think part of that is the dlc has a lot of big steppers
things that love to yeet themselves away from you
Blinkbolt, Flame Skewer, Savage Lion's Claw...
Yeah, I've noticed that with the fire knights
Mobility on was just helps you feel more dynamic
(mostly bc I don't have the last smithing stone bearing so I've been farming them for 7s and 8s)
And when enemies are getting to be crazy ninjas, it's great to dive lunge them
Flame Skewer on the FK Greatsword is a deeply satisfying experience, let me tell you
Just lunge in and then go straight into the light attack chain
The Longhaft Blinkbolt also lets you go into the light chain rather than the heavy follow-up, which makes for a nice mixup
yeah this has been a thing for a while, but it's prominent here too
Fighting Depraved Perfumers in melee always kind of sucked without a long weapon
"Hello I am 20 feet away now and there's a wall of fire between us"
it it just me or did they buff their fire attacks
i don't remember being oblerated so hard by perfumers
They can be nasty
I remember the one in the Albinauric Village giving me some trouble
yeah but i remember it not being so extreme since the first time i played
Okay, slight issue with this plan: the two handed talisman apparently does not buff ashes of war
Which I guess makes sense, it's already absurd even without that
Guess I've got to kill Millicent to maximize damage then 😔
is it wierd i think i would have perfered if the twohanded talisman instead was like the greatshield+pearlshield talisman for weapons
(In seriousness, even without Millicent dying you already get like 3 buffing talismans for the marais's ash of war and you're probably gonna use the fourth slot for utility so it's not actually a big deal)
same tbh
there's already lots of damage boosters in the game
talismans that enable playstyles are cool
the deflecting tear is neat
As in it makes the weapons better at blocking? Yeah that would definitely be nice
and should not be a tear
it should absoutely be a talisman or something
also i think the dlc should have given us an extra talisman and tear slot
It would absolutely blow other talismans out of the water is the problem
it would be far too good as a talisman
make the effect less powerful
keep both
i also don't think the ablity is that amazing
its pretty short time
and theres some insane talismans
you use weapo arts a lot alexander is just a free 15% damage boost on your strongest attack
greatshield is 20% physical resist, the new crimson seed is 30% more health form flasks
Those don't fundamentally change the game
The Deflecting Tear is so strong
and nerfing it would be an option I guess but then it's not.. the Deflecting Tear, I guess
yeah shard of alexander is one of those things where like 60% of all builds probably slot it unless they truly cannot fit it
deflecter tear also has extreme comptution in tears that are more useful a lot more of time
if your using an element your probally using the element tear, and the opaline tear is also a good 20% resistance to everything
Deflecting Tear feels like if the Opaline Bubble 99% damage resistance just re-applied after you got hit
it is so, so strong
You could just remove it's stacking guard counter boost
i don't even use those, like
just the innate Sekiro Parry
is such a gamechanger in ways nothing else is
And introduce a spam penalty
Tbh, I think you're underestimating the opportunity cost it being a talisman is
Where the f is ansbach? I entered Enir-Ilim and realized I didn't give him his letter... and he's just... gone
I for sure don't think I am
Dude Elden Ring quests are so shit.
Esp when this game has multiplicative stacking that means stuff like Winged + Millicent's is wildly better than either alone
Welp guess I’m killing Millicent
I know it's been posted before but every quest feels like this:
i do feel like its worse in the dlc than base game
They have the most random lockout conditions and they never tell you about them.
My only hangup is the weird Ansbach-Frejya timing
And you need a guide for every single one because nobody tells you anything
moore's is just why
Moore's is pretty straightforward
Its certainly a unique effect but great jars arsenal, dragoncrest greatshield, and two handed sword exist
Its not like there arent Build Defining Talismans already
The biggest one I think is the seal breaking
if it were "upon entering shadow keep" I wouldn't mind it so much
15% damage boost is not the same tier as Deflection and idk if I can be convinced otherwise
honestly i feel like the DLC quests are way easier to do than a lot of base game ones
but there's an invisible line that just kind of abruptly progresses everyone's quest and locks out interactions if you haven't done them yet
the dlc quest design is mostly fine though a few are skeeeetch
The Dragon Priestess is the worst offender
moore requires you to go to 6 random npcs with no hints where they are
I accidentally killed one of the Forager Brood
ope
i did her quest blind
didn't notice it wasn't aggressive
Maybe it isnt but idk
Make it a talisman 😭
I'm literally never gonna use it as a physick
the thing is yu don't want a gamechanging mechinc on a temp buff
the deflection absolutely should have been a talisman
then it because awkard
imagine if playing as a mage you had to drink a tear to cast spells
make it reduce resistance if necessary
i disagree wit hthat
but it needs to be an always on effect IMO
This is perfect for a Rune Arc
i think the whole "lets make the downside be you take more damage" is just stupid
rune arcs are aweful
because it absolutely shits on every other defensive talisman
I mean it's just the easiest downside I can think of
there are other options as well sure
its such a boring one that just ruins items 999999999.999999% of the time
if they're going to make it a talisman and not nerf it might as well just make it how blocking works
Wait wtf there's more steps to Moore than just telling him not to kill himself???
Did forget about the extended Brood quest
theres 6 forger brood hidden about each one gives you a forger book
I mean, I do also highly agree with that tbh
deflects as baseline would be great IMO
i just want blocking with a twohanded weapon to not be hot garabge on all but like 5 weapons
I'd want them to straightup buff dodging and parrying then
cause like
Deflecting wins
and this is probably why it's a physick tear
if it's a Talisman it'd need the Crucible 'you take 45% more damage' thing
that talisman is fucking stupid though
yes exactly
I do feel most defense options have started lagging behind the speed of the rest of the game
so yeah I do think defense could use a general buff, and deflects could be part of that
the cruciable talismans wouldnt be good if it gave you 10% more resistance
cause it gives you less of a defense bonus than the extra damage you take
it's actually just bad
what does the backstep boosting talisman actually do
it makes you take more damage
That one I've actually heard good things about but i'm not 100%
the backstep specifically might have something going on
okay cheers I was wondering what the "boosts backsteps" function meant
probally iframes
11 i frames apparently
(Christ that’s a lot)
That’s immunity for more than a third of a second
now to find the weapon with the coolest backstep attack
My main thought is
A lot of people already permaslot shit
And people who dont want to bother with active guards (a lot of people I bet tbh, the timing is tighter than sekiros) dont have a reason to slot it
60 frames per second no?
11f ~= 1/6th of a second
I frames are measured in 30 fps aiui
ahh alright
And it definitely is in this case
okay in that case that is a whole bunch of iframes
https://youtu.be/UG2gwwhLvuY
got me looking like
Original Video: https://youtu.be/Qwwga6t_lBg
#xenobladechronicles2
the ancient days of the Havel Flip
more the kbd lol
med roll has 13 frames btw
though I don't know how exactly the recovery between both stacks up
Looks like 8 recovery frames on mid backstep, 6 on light
8 is the same number of recovery frames on light and mid rolls I think
And 17 on heavy, if you’re ever in heavy load for some reason
Is the shotgun crossbow worth using over the pulley crossbow?
it really depends on your usage
the shotgun is a serious ammo eater, firing 10 at once
and is best used point blank
it does big status buildup though
Pulley Crossbow is more of a pressure tool, where the shotgun is a pop it when you have an opportunity and then two hand your other weapon sort of thing
Spread is a little easier on the stam though
Pulley is probably still the best option for most builds interested in using it
Spread is good for spike damage/status in PvP though
the repeating crossbow is unfortunately a worse pulley crossbow 😔
99 arrows is probally simlar to damage to a full flask's of magic damage
in some cases
but theres no arrow refill flask
depends a lot
I applied 99 arrows to the final dlc boss and got it to half health
an infinite arrows tear would be magical though
wasnt there something in bloodborne that let you use hleath for bullets
base mechanic, yeah
what if they added ranged support spells to the game
like casting it gave you 10 free shots of (insert elemnt here) of orsomething
there's a button that lets you turn some hp, idr how much, into 5 bullets
The square button on my controller has broke
I have been taught the truth of flasks on pouch slots as a result
...why not both
red glintstone bow
funfact there is actully a bow in ds2 that requires no ammo
well crossbow
you can only fire that mode like 4 times
manifests inert glintstone
for basic projectiles
heavies do magic bolts
ash turns to a blood mode with bleeding magic r1s and bloodflame r2s
doesn't it consume durability instead
yeah
a lot of durablity
its one of the few sources of unlimited ranged shots you can farm in a loot only run
I gotta say
About the equivalent of a single blood vial, which is 1/4th your health.
yeah
i didn't really hate it that much but it always was annoying or pointless
the thing im glad is gone the most is sweetpoint hits
aye
you mean, like scythe/halberd sweetspots?
aw, i was a big sweetspot fan
sweetspots really only make sense as, like, a unique weapon gimmick imo
like you have a specific weapon that has Marth tippers
or whatever
making it apply to an entire class of weapon just means that this entire family of weapons is a pain in the ass to use properly and gets completely filtered out of the discussion if you're fighting in tight spaces
id probally like sweet spot if it didnt gut the weapon when you didn't hit it
it should have been like a 10% boost
imo they should've just been like 30% stronger than they are on sweetspot
but with the same penalty
make them fucking juiced if you hit and ass if you don't
no thats exactly what i hated about it
god, no, making the sweet/sour spot thing even more extreme means that you have to play a whole ass minigame with that weapon
spacing is my fucking jam
here is some ds3 numbers
why add a scythe if you're not gonna play around with how utterly dogshit it is as a real weapon?
because it looks sweet
make it bad if you can't
and fucking sick if you're sick
no other classes just scythes
give me my fucklord dickhead spacing weapon category
okay see it's tough because I get it but also I get that I'd have a fucking headache trying to do my ego-compelled scythe run
don't threaten me with a good time
give me the bleed red glintstone bow
give it to me
that ain't a threat that's a lustful yearning
I want it bad
gimme the pure int bow that deals phys on r1 mag on r2 and ashes into a new fuckin moveset
magic archery is actually surprisingly well supported
with bloodflame glintstone r2s
though generally a worse gameplan than just casting glintstone pebble
yeah I just mean like
the pre-ER moonlight/ER cipher weapons
solo int scaling, nothing else
actually shit
red glintstone is regular magic r1s, r2 costs hp and does bloodflame, ash is phys thorn projectiles that explode into briars of sin
I can picture it now, a bow of red thorns, that scratch your fingers as you pull the string.
should be pure arc actually
I want one for each magic stat tho
pure arc red glintstone + bloodflame + thorn 'splosion
pure fth should be the lightning arrow ds3 spell
but just
red lightning r1s, gravel stone phys r2s, branching lightning ash
i think one thing id def love from mods is to see powered up and down versions of niche spell fields
Please. If it's red glintstone, it's faith. That's the pattern the game has established.
idc, faith gets everything and arc needs more cool shit
give us toned down cruciable incatations
arc can have wacky blood bullshit
Yeah this is where Im at
Scythes are cool, I want to use them
I do not have to deal with a finnicky gimmick for them to be effective
We already throw lightning spears 😛
Scythes can be good in the lands between
yeah, sweetspots are good
God bless
...aw, man, apparently I missed out on getting Ansbach's Longbow
gotta help him yep
only one of them breaks if you go there and its only if you actully respodn to their question
If you've killed the bosses of the first two legacy dungeons and talked to everyone until they repeat lines you should be good
But once you enter shadow keep you should go back and talk to everyone cuz it does in fact trip some flags
I broke a mini-quest my first time through from not finding Thiollier before breaking the seal
so I never got the black syrup because moore had moved onto his next quest stage
It's hippoing time
Eh
Literally just had this experience. These questlines are fucking ass dog.
I don't use bows, I'm mostly just vaguely disappointed I missed out on another thing for my collection of shit
I'm a mage, my bow is Loretta's Mastery
God bless that spell
there's no 100% winning route there fwiw
getting Ansbach's Bow is mutually exclusive with either Leda's second talisman or the Obsidian Lamina
Ansbach: "Hm... I am feeling ever so slightly... perturbed... like the wailing winds on a branch."
Elden ring quest designers: "So clearly that means you have to bring a letter to him before your next meeting with Leda."
Leda gives you two talismans if you help her ||kill Hornsent and Ansbach|| respectively
It's genuinely like the craziest leap in logic ever because he says to you:
||What could they possibly have in mind for Lord Mohg's remains? The implications are rather… unnerving.||
And you have to intuit that that means he needs you to hand him the secret rite scrolll... HUH??
one boosts backstep attacks, the other boosts rolling attacks
perfect for my backstep attack only run
The St. Trina questline is even more bizarre ||because you need to exhaust all of Thioller's diologue options, then die four times, then talk to thioller again. And you're supposed to just intuit this.|| Insanity.
i just need to go to the end of the dlc to get it
I like not having quest markers but please let us figure this stuff out on our own without using a wiki.
several quests in the dlc have mutually exclusive rewards
i actually figured this out blind with my buddy
Me and my new buddy
i don't think it's outrageous
though notably ||i thought going back Miquellas great rune actually did something since i used it and died and then got the dialogue, but i then had my friend try it and it didn't seem to do anything so idk what was going on||
i think the only quest i ended up missing out on in some way was Moores
Made another friend
for my money the actual difficult quest is ||The finger quest, cause you need to figure out that you need to use the emote "o mother" at the statue in the room before Gaius boss fight||
I actually did that blind
big W
I don't even remember getting the emote
me and my friend could not figure that shit out
but there were messages on the ground next to the statue with big hints
the clue is not good yeah
yeah when we were doing it
there were no messages
I think that's easier because you get to the point where you look at a map and there's a huge section you can't go to, so you just have to look it up.
i mean
Compared to something like Thioller ||where you can get to it, die once, literally nothing happens, and so you're like: "Oh, that's funny, I guess it really does just kill you." and then you leave.||
maybe it's just my giant lore brain but I figured that one out on my own no problem
i really don't think ||dying several times to St.Trina's stuff|| is too big of an ask
I think it's the dying several times thing that puts it over the edge to me. You have to know that something is up there.
the best parts of Fromsoft games for me is finding player messages that really help with a problem, like near Seath in DS1 finding messages across the invisible bridges
Idk why FromSoft keeps doing these questlines that nobody really enjoys having to puzzle out
||i figured immediately that i had to do something else for it so i tried it a few times and came back later, tried it again, and something happened||
||i think its the multiable times with no input each time until 4 times||
lots of those in Elden Ring too
The message system was the best idea they ever had for these games, unironically
if you die 100 times in ds2 you get a ring
idk I felt pretty smart using the right gesture on the thingy
It's helped foster such a great sense of community and in-jokes
Wait what?
but I'd also already been to Bonny Village and had been paying close attention to the lore
Good ol "Try tongue, but hole"
The gesture thing is also dumb but again, you see the big chunk of the map you can't get to and go: "Okay, I'm gonna look online"
And "Don't give up, skeleton"
Try finger but hole is so last season. It's "I want to go home...and then edge" now
I can't imagine doing a completely blind playthrough of elden ring, you'd miss out on everything.
I unironically love seeing five messages next to a turtle
i think ds2 has the most reasonable quests
base game yeah but i feel like the dlc is honestly a lot better
i got like
the vast majority of the whole dlc covered in my blind playthrough
I got most things playing blind, except I somehow completely missed Rya
i missed rya's manor quest
I did Thioller's questline and all of the locations, but missed out on all of the questlines and I feel ripped off.
just...didn't see her, didn't meet Blackguard either
but not the other one
if you don't talk to her before reaching volcano manor, she's just locked off permanently
A turtle? What's that? You mean a dog?
I think my first run through I mostly missed Boc's questline, and Patches.. >:|a
Boc just.. never got sad? He was fine
typo
Man Moore is such an adorable character
Real talk I picked up that item and ||saw the description of 'only big huge huge brain genius dudes can read this crazy shit' and went 'this should probably go to ansbach'||
||Sad, forever...?||
I think there's a happy middle ground between most souls quest design where it's basically impossible to figure anything out and super convoluted and something like... Dragon Age where it tells you ever single thing you have to do. And I was hoping Elden Ring would do that, but alas.
same lmao
Never
I accidentally killed him on my first run. Never again
A quest journal absolutely would not hurt elden ring
Ansbach is clearly the Nerd Researcher of the group
Especially since ||Freyja says she should have asked Ansbach for help when she had the chance when trying to decipher her own arcane writings||
at least an 'Actually Key Items' tab
it doesn't have to tell you every step of what you need to do, but at least charting your current progress in quests or hinting that things are quests would be nice
you get plenty of clues as to what to do with that scroll
I don't think it needs a quest journal, but at least give us some pointers of what things actually matter and what lines of dialogue are actually worth following up on.
honestly it's a real issue if you're like me and have a lot of saves where you skip around: if I load up a save I haven't played in a while, I have no idea where the last time I talked to Millicent was
It's an info item, there's like... a billion of those in the game.
i literally immediately ||went to Ansbach with it cause he specifically mentioned stuff about Mohg, and Freyja also pointed out that she should have talked to him about reading shit in the library||
it wasn't a big leap in logic imo
He's also like 30 yards from it
ima more of tired of how miserable most of the quests are in tone
I found Freyja before Ansbach tbh
||Text in library> guy in library who reads texts> lady in library who points out she should have asked that guy for help with reading texts> give text to text guy||
because I found the storehouse through church district before going through the main shadowbado keep
is there even one good ending for anyone in elden ring for anything
unfortunately this is Fromsoft
tough luck
ds2 most people are fine
Rya learns self-respect
The fact that there are random lockout points and it doesn't tell you what the lockout points are is more frustrating to me.
its just lucitiel that goes insane
yeah but she's the best one
and mauldin beccomes a snob
so it's a heavy loss
mostly more bittersweet than good, but I think Rya, Nepheli, Kenneth Haight, and Boc all get fairly positive endings on the right route.
oh yeah nvm im wrong yeah nephli
Boc my beloved
oh right they finished Nepheli quests
i stil ldon't understand the patches quest
you talk to patches
Patches trying to date the lady of the Manor
he goes to volcano manor
You IDIOT! You were supposed to give Blimion the bliminister to aid the last rite of sanctification BEFORE you enter the tree of neverending solace! Do you think Blimion would EVER talk to you afterwards??? FOOL!
you talk to patches
I love that his quest has a big fakeout
im talking about the post volcano one
patches I mean
