Roll into the charge, you're literally trying to roll straight through him. You wanna do it right as he's about to impact, to try and maximize the inviciblity frames through him, because he's well, arse like that

He burns the minor Erdtree at Mt Gelmir, which prompts Morgott to send his armies to attack the Volcano Manor. Sometime before, after, or during this, Rykard allows himself to be devoured by the Great Serpent in an attempt to bootstrap himself into a sort of godhood, only to lose control and prompt his forces to rebel||
