#Elden Ring (DLC hype room)
1 messages · Page 41 of 1
Yknow what's really funny
I've never run into Melina in-game
Wait Melina
Caelid lady
Millicent
they are called the wandering nobles
you've never gone to that church?
do you just never max your flasks
on runs
Nope
and a couple other
I've never ng+
game just doesn't relaly force you to go that way
Also I hate Caelid
you just walk over
also
the dumb bitch invades me
with the prosthetic already on

why do i need to go and get you another one
My guess is grace lead us there to meet a finger maiden (the dead body you yoink a finger from)
How did we get there? Uh, big crow I guess
Also this does mean yes I beat the dlc without maxed flasks
Yeah I did Castle Redmane
I did all the major stuff in Caelid
I just didn't explore too much
As the opening cutscene portrays, we're a Tarnished of no renown who is blessed with grace and who has to "cross the fog, to the Lands Between;" given what we know about Godfrey after the war and being kicked out alongside a bunch of other warriors we are, presumably, dead in the beginning and our soul is pulled from the afterlife by Marika and shoved back into our corpse to get us a'movin'.
Which I read as our body is in that church for whatever reason--either we were of so little renown that we were just left there forgotten, or put there in a coffin or something afterwards as some sort of funeral rite.
We were put into one of those flying coffins and they lost track of us
like someone letting go of a balloon
The Tarnished is Amelia Earhart, in this essay I will--
"Is that a flying coffin?"
"I told ye no flying coffins ah feck now look at the Tarnished"
"they're flyin' awhey"
The presence of the Grafted Scion at the spawn in actually implies to me that the chapel is the entry point for a lot of Tarnished
Its been staking out hunting grounds
From the anime "Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan" Episode 1.
Deer vs. door frame, it's obvious who will win! And yes, there will be casualties. This scene was so great, just had to post it. Truly parody shows are my favorite genre.
how I'm going to arrive on NG+1 and I see that Grafted Bastard again
His greatshield won’t protect him from flame of frenzy aerial attacks!
lmao
Been enjoying my Quality build for the DLC, but I think I wanna try switching to faith
and doing faith things
I've always found Quality to be a little awk in elden ring tbh
just because the softcaps at 80 are still generous enough that you really have to dump a looooooot of points in
I wonder if the dlc introduced any more weapons that are best on quality builds
I think pretty much any Infusable weapon gets peak damage out of 80 80 quality but obv that's a question of level
TECHNICALLY speaking all phys somber weapons are too but that obviously matters far less when some have got d or e scaling in one stat
yeah quality always feels to me like something designed for higher NG cycles in Elden Ring just because you probably don't get the levels to make it better than a single-stat infusion in NG
I've hit the point at which I'm getting better damage out of quality than strength on some weapons
But I'm built for 2h Str so I needed comparatively little stat investment to hit my main stat cap
I mainly went quality so I could use more weapons lol
There's also that yeah
I have 20 dex on my str/faith build and have honestly no memory of why
it doesn't even contribute to the weapon up to the first softcap since it's heavy
Weapon requirement for something you stopped using/didn’t end up using?
i don't think so, it was a planned build (this was my third playthrough) around a weapon that only requires 10 dex, which I beelined for at the beginning of the run
and while I don't remember what I used to get to that point (it did require killing a night's cavalry in Liurnia) I started vagabond so radagon's seal should have carried me just fine if I needed something with a modest dex requirement
without needing to dump like 7 levels into it
I just genuinely have no idea why I did it like that lol
Dex increases casting speed a little bit, doesn't it? Could that be why?
maybe, I guess, though all I really cast is buffs
it's possible that was the logic at the time though
But anyway re:faith, it's fun, the dlc added some sick Flame Art ashes
Flame Skewer on a Great Katana is a fave
Giant Hunt+ with a self buff 💋
also got more dex faith hell yea
Even on a quality build I've got 20 Faith bc I like using the death knight axes and the anvil hammer
I find it hard to not get like 15-25 faith just for buffs, unless I'm going heavy on sorcery
Yeah, for a long time I had 12 just because Bestial Vitality and Flame Cleanse Me are so incredibly useful
did they mention settings?
...also speaking of Rykard, I could bump up my faith 1 more and get access to Blasphemous Blade. Hmmm...
blasphemous is cool
Nein
it's most likely scaled
i doubt they did unscaled
so it's not bad
remember that serpent-hunter melts rykard even without anmy levels and stats
would be worse if it was malenia 💀
Bestial Vitality _ is_ efficient for dungeon crossing but tbh I don’t buy flame cleanse me. It’s good but situational, and the situation is generally predictable enough you can slap on two fingers talisman to hit 12
Well yeah, he's a snake, I'd imagine he has scales

True but I already have 12 Faith for Vitality and slots to spare, so at that point just being able to say "nah" to poison at will is pretty worth it
Is fair
i run flame cleanse me so i can clear rot (i don't craft items)
Crafting is nice but i wish more mats were freely respawning-gatherable or sold by merchants
Ugh yeah. Gathering crafting mats is a pain
i doin't think i've ever crafted anything except on accident
There are so many cool craftables that are too precious to use
no wait
there was that one time
i was doing cruci misbegotten fight inradahn and rummoned friend
ran out of items to see symbols
Because I don’t want to grind rot basilisks for more Aeonian butterflies
I've made this argument b efore, but all craftables should have been like Cracked Pots
Incidentally the new rot pot is renewable in a not cancer way
Hefty pots are pretty fun and useful; unfortunately they're DLC exclusive materials so I don't have my massive stock of passively gathered materials for them
You slowly find more across the game, they come back when their crafted item is used up
Scarlet Buds respawn and fly mold has a bell bearing
That way you'd get actually interesting decision points on what to craft
and the mind numbing tenidum of neeidng to grind would be solved
Reminds me of how dragon age 2 did crafting off the top of my head
Grand Cloister: From the site of grace, run along the south side of the Lake of Rot to find four Basilisks, then towards the ruins for eight more. Roll around in the rot and then go back on land before it fully builds up to trigger a less damaging form of Scarlet Rot.
it'd also solve the "X is unrewarding" issue Elden Ring had a bit, since renewable crafting materials are a good reward\
That still reqwuires you to grind the gatehring, and it's frustrating/unfun.
the point is to minimize the friction of engaing with the "Get up, try again" loop of these games
yeah but there's definitely tiers of gathering misery
like Bloodrose is fine, you can get like 10 per lap in no time at all from rose church
look at it this way
At least you don't have to craft anything for it to come back
and you can rest at a grace and wait time
means you can quickly rack up a couple dozens and hten just be set for a while
instead of having to use up that item first then go back, make it, retry fight
the mind numbing tedium of having to run back after every time i use them is just wack
I was watching, him wearing that hat the whole had me crying, you're making it so much harder for yourself 😭
This has to be why the DLC was like "here's the rest of the bell bearings"
That one did get a bell bearing I thought?
assume that's one of the nice ones
The DLC includes a personal taunt to me because one of my joking demands was "a merchant that sells unlimited miranda powder"
there is a merchant that sells miranda powder, but only ten
God I love the Dryleaf set, it's SO fucking good looking
It's just a nice hat, a bigass cloak and a long coat with a really stylish satchel, some good looking arm wraps, and a good pair of trousers
10/10
Just wish I could get more poise wearing it
And also wish the sleeves were longer
Bullgoat talisman
Yeah but I can only hit 40someodd poise with bullgoat
yeah many many light fits just flat cannot manage 51 poise even with bullgoat talisman
it is emphatically not the Wolf Ring
Aye
Ended up wearing Greaves of Solitude, went for a more armored up look
...side note, the Armor of Solitude is fucking nuts
yeah it's pretty jacked
it gets you most of the way to 51 poise by itself and actually looks good, unlike bull goat
Solitude is great for giving us an Ultraheavy Armor that does not look like shit yeah
75%ish damage reduction on first hit
I like Verdigris a lot too but it's definitely a lot harder to mix and match with other heavy sets than Solitude
now you too can become Guts Berserk
I'm typically not a fan of armor that makes you look fat alas
eh, I don't think it makes you look fat
I ran rellana's armor, solitude greaves and arms, and the witch hat during my playthrough
IIRC that set up with bullgoat got like ~80 poise?
it's definitely bulky but it's not like Lionel's or Fire Prelate
but if it's not to taste it's not to taste
It's pretty bulky
Are we discussing outfits
extremely happy with my fit
Yooooooo
Solitude Helmet on Fire Knight Armor is a good match
solitude gauntlets also
My fave so far has been vulgar militia pants and gloves, shadow militia chest, pelt of ralva
With either beast claws or backhand blades
Backhand kicks mean ass btw
I'm playing bloodborne again😌
Ratatouille food critic flashback ass
What shield
haligtree greatshield
its annoying to farm off one single guy with a 4 percent chance
Haligtree Crest Greatshield
And yeah there is specific one enemy that drops it with a 4% chance
I found that by accident on my first playthrough, had no clue how much of a pain it was
My first playthrough was arcane so that likely helped
Cheat engine it is!
there is a pretty good way to farm it, im lucky and it only took 20 minutes
but yeah its pretty obnoxious
i have 10 arcane i have no idea how i got it so quick, white scarab charm for the win ig
I got it the first time I killed that guy and assumed every knight had the chance to drop it until like
A week ago
Because suddenly everyone wanted it for uh
Reasons
heehee i got it after that boss, i used the black knight one
I got the unaltered banished knight chest on my first kill of the one guy who drops it lol
i didnt even know it existed till i saw freyja post the fit the other day
10 arcane
How is it compared to distinguished b
Main selling point is 98 holy resist with sacred infusion
Oh that's good
It's for my challenge run to mostly use soldier ashes to do the work
And I just support them with healing and buffs
Need to grab some bleed spells and go kill mohg for the busted ass rune effect
30% bonus damage to ashes when bleed procs within 7m of them
Stacks wish exultation if you're using a mimic
i recently learned moghs rune buffs enemies when you invade its so silly
Yeee
Watched aggy's video
When he started leveling fth, oh boy
Flower be gone
...I really hate this final boss fight, dude
God this fucking sucks
Take a single hit, there goes half my fucking health bar, and he's mobile as shit and of course has neverending comboes and doesn't let up
And whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy does he have so many AoEs
...prolly doesn't help I'm fighting him on NG+ lmao
i just discovered this guys channel and been binging his stuff while i do other things, good shit
deadass
the viewer torture and legend of zelda elden ring ones were so good
watching him and gino is great
This is absolutely making it waaaay worse
It's not that bad on a normal run if you can get the timings down decent and have a good amount of defense shit stacked up
I figured
It feels incredibly unbalanced that ONE attack just instantly removes half my HP bar
yeah this dlc definitely has some instances of pecking away for 3.5 minutes at a thing you can make 2 mistakes for
I might summon some help, I try to avoid it on final bosses but this is just kind of turning into a slog
I can't even get to phase 2 half the goddamn time because "WHAMWHAMWHAMWHAMWHAMWHAMWHAM you're dead teehee"
Yeah I'm finding the NG adjustments on the dlc to be FUNKY
By ng+2 char is breezing and my ng+6 char is struggling hard
Despite both strolling through the base game with similar ease
And like, I'm not wearing shitty armor either, I've got all but the Helmet of Solitude on and a really nice grave scythe
Loretta's slash on a reaper is a real classic surprisingly good tool
...
I thought phase 1 was bad
At least phase 1 doesn't summon fucking orbital lasers with each attack
This fucking sucks
a greatshield can help ignore some of that but yeah its nasty
...whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy is there a delay in dodginggggggggggggggggggg
FUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
i found the sekiro tear quite helpful as well hes got a good amount of places to guard counter, and 3 of them staggers him, but its hard
Why is there a fucking half second delay between me pressing the fucking dodge button and my character dodging
What the fuck
Wait Sekiro tear?
what's your blessing at
id maybe have the braid instead of the pearldrake? as well the boss really only has holy damage for elemental
Literally maxed out at 16
there is a new physick tear that when you drink it, puts sekiro deflect in the game
max is 20
but 16 ain't bad
I thought 16 was the max
I'll go grab the other fragments and finish maxing that out, thanks Lynn
the deflecting hardtear is what its called , its in the first golem you encounter in the dlc
Oh I beat his ass
I'll try that out, that sounds really fun
...more fun than beating my head against this metaphorical wall anyway
i had royal knights resolve lance spear talisman greatshield talisman, deflect guard counter for some good damage, learning the parry timing was quite fun but it falls apart a little in phase two
Also yeah boss's only elemental is holy so slap the braid on and cast divine fortification. Really only applicable in phase 2 but every bit helps.
I really liked learning phase 1
its good!
phase 2 is. idk it's not my favorite fight in the game
what spells you running
and any ashes?
i see no reason to not run ashes unless it's pure spite
Holyproof Dried Liver gives the same bonus as Divine Fortification but lasts 30 seconds longer, so there's that too.
also an ally can be useful, ||i brought ansbach, which helped stack bleed, and though albeit it did increase the boss bar by 1.5 and he got miquella'd twice and died instantly of charm, it did take long enough for me to put all my buffs back on and clutch||
yeah holyproof dried liver is jacked for some reason
lord's divine is 60% 🥱
my whole playthrough i didnt use a guide and somehow never picked up any dragoncrest shield talismans, 1 2 or 3
yeah, i'm a bit mad that such key items like that are so missable
Yeah that one is 30 FP compared to 20 for DF, and dried liver takes 0 FP.
its insane how i managed to dodge them, superhumanly
Depending on what buffs someone does it can matter.
what the fuck do you mean 20% phys resist is locked behind an optional boss in an optional area behind an optional boss
--oh also Lord's Divine lasts 70 seconds, less than DF and the drid liver.
dragoncrest greatshield is also just like, right on the way to Malenia
which is a thing people are presumably doing if they're interested in elden ring optional hard content
oh, forgot i can see them here
get rid of black flame protection and glaive, pointless on this guy
also im fairly sure for reference ldf wont stack with the crab
Body buff, so no.
i beat her 😭 i just never found it somehow any of them lol
or with dried liver
Doesn't he smack you a lot with swords and rocks?
you got crab
May or may not have forgot I had seafood
glavie is pointless
so is fleeting micro and gravi missile for the most part
also does loretta's greatbow still do that fucking shit
where 2 arrows just hit the floor
Just one now.
if you are doing a little bleed on the scythe ansbach might be some good help, just to help him proc, while you do frost, and his flame will reset frost cooldowns ( i think)
of course theres drawbacks but some breathing room is nice, also scythe and scythe is cool
what if they added a fight against three crucible knights one of each type that would be funny I think
After the DLC I'd think that'd be a cakewalk.
Ordovis the sequel
siluria ordovis and devonia trio
Better that than this final boss, at least they don't have infinite comboes like every fucking dual wielding enemy FromSoft makes
Also what are these goobers doing lmao
Scared the fuck out of me
I love the horrible kodama tubeworms
||OH GOD NO NOT THE FUCKING LOBER||
Lmao
Oh god yeah that place
Real fun times I found that bastard before the boss version lmao
...is he harder?
I backstabbed him and hit him with the Unsheathe heavy and he just immediately perished
Who else tried to backstab the Horn Warriors
I don't think he's harder, he's just kinda there with no expectation or lead-up. Dungeon bosses, you know you're gonna face something a little punch-happy at the end, but out in the field no one really expects Yoda.
Pain
You know you’re in for a bad time when you sneak up, press rb, and do a basic crouch poke
5
||Will Miq just charm me no matter where I’m sitting?||
1 will get you stabbed for daring to be between Leda and her god.
2 will at least be quiet with Thiollier sleeping through the flight next to you
3 leaves you both awkwardly next to Hornsent constantly making remarks about your race and you have to listen to MAY CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD for the whole flight.
4 is similar but replace the remarks with shouting in your other ear. This seat is loud.
I have multiple answers to this
1 so i can ||kill Leda and Miquella||, 2 so i can chill with the homies, 4 so i can kill Shabriri and chill with Igon
||If I’m in no danger at all of being charmed, I’m sitting in 2||
||Thiollier and St.Trina might have something that could knock me out for the whole flight, and even if not they’d probably be pretty quiet. And it’s an aisle seat so easy bathroom access||
If i sit in 6 i WILL kill Patches
7 will kill ME cause Malenia is definitely contagious
8 will see me killing Ofnir
Probably giving Sellen the stink eye after he's dead
5 is okay but you will be listening to Roderika’s trauma-dumping. On the bright side, Florissax brought snacks and will share.
6 guarantees patches will kick you into the Aisle.
7 is a mixed bag. Melina doesn’t take up space so you can stretch your legs, but you’re going home with exciting new diseases from being next to Malenia for hours.
8 has the issue of proximity to Malenia while Gideon tells you about the good old days and mansplains at you the whole time.
20 hours actually!
2, 3 and 5 are the only options where i don't kill someone or die
True!
7 kills me cause i need to sit next to rot disease woman for 20 hours
And in 1, 4, 6 and 8 i am most certainly killing someone
Worth it.
The flight will go smoother if i don't initiate a battle to the death
I thought of a bit for 5
Oh god, can you imagine the yapping going on between Gideon and Sellen about glintstone sorcery? That’s gotta be agonizing
And personally i don't want to die on the flight cause i sat next to Malenia and contracted god powered super cancer
Really though 2 or 5 seem like the best options overall
No yapping i would go for the kill on Ofnir post-haste
Lean gang
Okay but like, if you weren’t just gonna kill then I mean
I would kill Ofnir, he'd be absolutely insufferable otherwise
Not massively fond of Sellen either but she's not godsawful like he is
The real question is who the Air Marshal who intervenes in Freyja strangling another passenger is 😛
Sellen pretty so I could tolerate whatever she's saying.
Truuuue
Morgott
Haha that works
Ofnir is getting off that plane one way or the other.
If i had my spells i'd just do inescapable frenzy on Ofnir
DLC gives us funny options to olympic-toss hammers at Ofnir so we can bash his ass without risking the funny brain juice.
Ofnir sits down, looks over, and immediately has hid head grabbed and just gets fucking frenzied immediately
Wait why is Melina not sitting next to Malenia, she doesn’t have a body anymore so the rot shouldn’t hurt her right?
I imagine she probably doesn't smell great
It's so you're forced to be in the middle of two siblings sniping at each other verbally.
Malenia is actually literally rotting from the inside out and has wounds all over her body
She bullies moon mom and i really don't like that
Doesn't bully her for long!
Melina and Malenia don’t really seem like the type of siblings that’d bicker too much
Yeah it’s not a bit that Malenia is contagious, her loyal cleanrot knights all have the rot
Honestly
Everyone on the plane dies
Realistically Malenia is going to just rot everyone
Yeah I don’t see it either, they’d pass the flight in silence.
You think that but what actually causes the plane to crash is Patches after he strips it of everything valuable, engine included, and bails out the back with a parachute.
Its a shame since if Millicent is anything to go by Malenia is actually a pretty pleasant person
I mean
The problem is Millicent i think
It's sort of implied that Millicent and her sisters are bits of Malenia that she cast away
See the real risk of the seat next to patches is that its an aisle seat so when you get up after he asks you to make room to go to use the restroom he kicks you from behind
I don’t think we can draw conclusions about Malenia’s personality from Millicent per se, but there’s no reason to disbelieve she’s generally quiet and pleasant
The real question is, how long will it take before Leda starts killing people?
Oh, minutes
Not a problem, i kill him immediately
Me and Leda starting witch hunts on the plane
Yeah i’m assuming that Millicent is functionally Malenia personality wise
Or as close as we’re ever likely to get
The moment the stewardess says she can't have another pack of peanuts.
Tfw me and Leda are those united in common cause
They’re not even good peanuts tho
“The stewardess cannot be trusted; she is plotting to withhold food until we starve. Prithee are you with me?”
invasion sign appears in aisle
Leda can root out the Non-believers while i kill all the people i don't like
Alternatively, the moment a stewardess comes down the aisle she starts going “Don’t you dare approach Miquella the Kind”
Then we can 1v1 at the end
With me and Leda combining our efforts the plane ain't making it to destination with most of the passengers
Roderika leaves as the only survivor
True
I wouldn't hurt Roderika
Or Moore realistically
Or Dragon Priestess really, she a bit freaky but i don't got beef with her
Leda would definitely kill the Priestess though, who knows what Placidusax could be telling her?
Also nobody is sleeping
Igon is going to scream himself hoarse about Bayle for the full 20 hours
yeah seat 4 is loud
CURSE YOU BAYLE in one ear, MAY CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD in the other
Bro is going to monologue the entire time
Thiollier and Trina will figure out a way
Here it is. The full version experience.
listen at 2x speed for enlightenment
All performances go to their owners, seriously, this is just a stupid meme lol
5 or 6 seems fine
So long as 6 does not have a conspicuously glowing item pick up on it
as soon as you try to pick up the peanuts from the Stewardess, you're getting kicked directly into her
4 is hell itself
My only issue with 5 is that if you need to go to the bathroom it might take a bit for Moore to get out of the way, that armor is heavy
Hornsent in front, The Weirdoes on either side
I feel like Igon would regale you with tales about the various dragons he’s actually killed… at the exact same volume
Insane madness guy and mentally broken dragon guy either side, racist genocide avenger in the front
This is the same bits from above, I've just edited them since originally posting them and also not spreading them across two posts
We're not making it out of this one 🔥
Y'all only remember the last part of igons quest
He would be moaning and babbling insanely the entire flight
I mean, it's a bit
That and screaming
several of these people would probably be fine
Like Moore
Now here’s an important question: who’re the pilots?
He ain't regaling you with shit
(I am also being facetious mostly)
There are only 5 or so i really have to kill
Otherwise, chillin
Hewg and Enia
😌
Radagon and Marika, but one seat is always empty if you check in on them. They're still bickering over the PA whenever it turns on
Hewg leaving the cockpit with a hammer the moment anyone tries to start something with Roderika
Just remember that hewg it's the same model as the axe misbegotten, just with the hair moved from his head to his beard
So the fucker is jacked
Alas, he is chained to the pilot seat
If anyone touches Roderika they will die by my blade
God, the lands between tsa sucks at their job
Now a missed opportunity for this meme format was not having messmer in there somewhere
Preferably close to hornsent
I'm relatively certain being chained is not a big problem for a smith
The chains he's got in the roundtable sure work 😛
Seems pretty dedicated to making a weapon to ||slay a bloody god||
I'm not convinced he ever tried breaking out.
just picture malenia taking off her limbs for the metal detector line...
Oh man this sword is pretty
...Jesus Christ who thought the Greatsword of Damnation's skill was a good idea
It's just a onetap instakill that seems to catch you even if you roll how did this get into the game
That shit's something you see a hacker do, not just a regular-ass weapon skill, Jesus Christ
I'm not even mad, I'm just astounded by how unbalanced this is in PVP
Goddamn
it is completely scuffed
Fuck, and I thought Moghwyn's Spear was bad, at least it's a limited range AoE you can just spam Comets at
Or even Corpse Piler spam, you can parry that shit or just roll through
Here it's just
"If you exist in the general vicinity of this weapon art you instantly die"
...oh god that gravity drill art is NASTY lmao
Someone put it on a flamberge and I got nearly instantly bled, that was honestly impressive
...oh, buddy
Someone tried to use Placidusax's Ruin against me
I should've just sat down and waited for them to finish casting tbh, would've been funnier
This is why i generally do not bother with pvp too much
It can be fun in open world, but the oidea of "organized" pvp in this game
is uh
screming
Wish I could get a second Star-Lined Sword, these things would look awesome powerstanced
if you ask, somebody can probably drop one for you to powerstance w/
speaking of power stancing, how does that work with smithscript weapons?
Honestly, any of them power stanced might be interesting. Although the cirques automatically power stance when two-handed, and I wouldn't be surprised if the daggers do the same... no clue about the axes.
?
everything powerstances with itself
nearly everything powerstances with other weapons in its class
i don't know why smithscript weapons would be an exception
No, I mean, when you try to hold the weapon in two hands, you switch to holding a copy in each hand, like how claws do and swords (usually) don't.
ah
backhand blades all dual-wield
throwing knives also dual-wield
the other weapons are just other weapons
no native dual-wielding axe or hammer
I'm also not sure what happens if you try to power stance the smithscript axe with another axe, or if you power stance it with another smithscript axe; on what attacks will a projectile be thrown, and how many?
What about if you use both throwable spears, which don't throw on all the same attacks?
there is no overlap
isn't r2 just... a heavy attack? which power stancing frequently changes?
powerstancing also changes (nearly?) all movesets to a specific, unique L1
I keep being tempted to give Twin (Transferring one from another character) Ice Axes on a dex build. They seem pretty cool and don't need int.
not carrying over any movesets
no
powerstancing changes L1
ah, I didn't remember what button was what attack.
and nothing else
native dual-wielding from claws and fists (and backhand blades) changes R1 and R2
I thought that heavies on power stanced axes/hammers did a unique (if not necessarily good) thing where they swung in sequence, for instance.
I mean yeah, but I'd feel bad asking without having anything to give in return
it takes basically no effort to drop one lol
you can also just reset from steam cloud save to un-drop that item anyway
if you're still around @atomic plinth i have an extra +0 copy, but i'm going to bed in a short while
I love/hate how I'm watching a dude level only endurance and he's cranking out the same damage as me lmao
Also man, I wish they did more with snakes
Rykard phase 1 is so cool but it's just a gimmick fight
😭
Some stamina
Gideon learns extra spells in that fight based on you telling him about the Lords you've beaten
If you tell him about Malenia, he gets Scarlet Aeonia
ah alright
explains a lot, watching a challenge run rn so i guess he talked to him after malenia
Presumably he uses his gigabrain to reverse engineer it in the lore or whatever
oh, it seems to just be if you kill the bosses
Yeah that'd line up
Oh really? Huh, alright
he'll use rykard's, bloodboon and scarlet depending if you killed htme
and if you kill 2+ before burning the tree, he won't use comet
neat
oh
gideon scepter is a unique debuff for 10% magic and holy negation
i thought it would be in the power shred category
oh shit
he won't cast triple rings of light if you kill all 3
why is a cool dynamic boss like this a complete pushover 😔
i really hope next souls game from them has a col boss like that who's not actually a pushover
On the other, why put the effort in when he dies in 2 microseconds
yeah SoC fucks
Watching Frenzygrab devour his Healthbar was satisfying after all he's done though
god
Thankfully DLC gave ||absolute stellar npc fight(s)||
imagine elden beast but it does attacks of dififerent major bosses you killed
"OH NO, MIRIEL WAS RIGHT"
The ||Leda group fight is fucking peak||
Even the Mausoleum folks are solid
||Blackgaol|| is a perfectly hilarious boss to park next to the entrance
i killed him right off the bat
it's really hard to enjoy npc boss fights when they just don't dodge 😭
Try another playstyle!
i'm trying
i'm just bad lmao
i kinda ruined the game for myself by using a spell that boosts itself by 50% for no fucking reason while already having insane damge
A good portion of the player base Terra Magica Azur'd their way through fights and I meteored a good number there's no shame but I just likes variety
Well, congrats but also alas
i just
idk
i don't really vibe with any of the movesets
i was hoping i'd like the moon and fire blades
but they're not actually light greatswords
they're just straight swords called light greatswords
because god forbid
how the fuck does leda's sword weigh almost as much as 2 swords while being same category, man
Fulla needles
rellie's swords - 8
milady - 6.5
broadsword - 4
that's not a light greatsword
that's paired straihgt swords
also the targetting feels off
half the beams will hit the floor when on a flat plane hitting anything where lock on is same height as me
Made for Big Tall Lady, we need to adjust stance
i'm just kinda, eh
haven't found a single weapon that's not just helphen's or dmgs
that vibes iwht me
I'm a big fan of SoNaF
I really wish i could like it
but i just
idk
doesn't vbibe
HAHAHA
gino's bow only run
scion actually kills him
doens't just fade to black, actually dies
and the attack didn't even look like it connected
glad i'm not the only one beign fucked over by wacky shit
if it makes you feel better, he was a brutal wall on bow-only
and not just in the sense that everything is harder than it needs to be on bow-only
Godfrey took me one attempt. Gideon took me closer to three dozen
still not as bad as radagon though. I still haven't beaten Elden Beast bow-only
TBH ofnir hasn't felt like a pushover to me since the early patches
At least if you don't use a spirit ash to break his brain lmao
Infinite FP comet spam tough as it were
what, this guy?
Yeah. Bow-only does very poor damage per shot and while his HP is pretty weak for an endgame boss, he still has way more than most tarnished-type enemies in the game, and like those enemies he has ultra instinct for dodging arrows.
this is a bow
He's actually pretty tough when you aren't on a mega DPS strength build
The fuck bow does 2900 damage
And actually let him finish talking lol
ah, greatbow headshot
that's...a very different approach
this is a non-headshot
if you're actually hitting him with a greatbow, that's impressive
radahn's rain?
It's not that elden beast is that hard, it's Radagon that's the problem
I have yet to actually beat Radagon with anywhere near enough flasks and ammo to also chew through Elden Beast's Healthbar.
yeah like
But it'd be inaccurate to say I haven't beaten Radagon because I have
use a normal bow for raddy and a greatbow radahn's rain for beastie
I've seen the EB fight
1 radahn rain
That has been my most successful strategy, yes
the problem is actually chewing through Radagon's Healthbar with one stack of arrows
gino is doing poison and rot
are you doing bow-only runs or just checking youtubers who are way better at this than I am? 😛
with barrage for quick procs
i'm just watching gino do a bow only run and oyu happened to come it
Radagon is hard to damage with a bow because if you attack him in neutral he'll slap arrows aside 100% of the time and you'll do like 10 total damage
i'm not touching those awful sticks
and you have limited shots, if you run out you have to hardswap to a different type of arrow or start over
that one damn wide-swoop hammer dive
yeah like i'm watching him and he just procs poison, rot then tries to proc ice
unless you don't use rot and poison then idk
99 arrows that do 300 damage each is much more limiting than FP
Poison is fine, Rot arrows are miserable to farm though
so are frost arrows tbh
i thought Radagon was immune to statuses for some reason
only Bleed and Sleep.
weird and rude
EB is hard immune to all of 'em tho
that one tracks
anyway yes this is my experience
Godfrey took me one attempt bow-only
Mogh took me two.
Gideon took me dozens
🤷
I think Malenia took me under twenty, though I wasn't keeping count
buffs, perchance
I had crab, but not much else. Bow-only didn't invest in int or faith
though you can make a pretty cool magic archer build with the horn bow, dwelling arrows, and the significant quantity of magic buffs in the game
yeah there are defintiely builds that struggle hard with npc fights
the input read dodge is the big thing
yeah, he's got flame grant me strenght, howl of shabooboo and golden wov dag
incidentally I've also done most of the DLC bow-only
a few fights have given me trouble but it was mostly a lot easier than the basegame lol
the new longbow and the skibidishards mean the damage still isn't earthshaking but feels less...utterly underwater
I haven't needed special strats to deplete boss hp bars before I ran out of arrows like I did in the basegame
aside from the final boss (still haven't beaten this one)
(but I had one attempt where I ran completely out of arrows mid-fight)
yeah good luck
I think the dlc final boss might genuinely be like
orphan of kos tier
in terms of difficulty
he gets trivialized by a couple specific strategies, but otherwise yeah
i can agree with that
took me like 4+ hours on two or three separate days to do it riposte-only
I mean i can't think of a single boss in the game who is impossible to trivialize
yeah fair, elden ring is a game that you don't actually have to play to beat
which I mean
for what it's worth thats a skill on its own
if you wanna beat every boss by targeting their weird specific weaknesses i would argue thats an intelligent playstyle of its own
i don't think i can beat last dlc boss legit
even with no hitbox on yourself so you cna't get hit?
..... okay well
yeah
using cheat engine is different lol
that whole fight is just pure fucking eye cancer to me
i'm trying to track a move and he throws a fucking screen wipe at me so i get lost
i don't remember any other boss being so visually annoying
just sucks walking up to a cool fight, trying to learn it and my brain just going "haha, no c:"
Block and poke his ankles
I'm not even memimng, he has a massive weakeness to the humble 100% physical block shield
Patches vs ||General radhan|| it's patches win.
yeah, that's the easiest way to cheese him
I'm not sure "just block" counts as cheesing
Like, let's be real here, if use one of the basic defensive methods is cheesing
it just reduces the fight down to "look at green bar, poke"
The word has lost all meaning
I mean
in the same way that a shooter is click on peoples heads sure
very few builds can get away with just holding down the block button tho
just as "this makes the fight a meme"
Well, that's because it's arguably a bad fight from a design perspective, being a lot of visual spam and mechanics that focus to punish dodging to the exclusion of all else
eh
visual spam?
i never really had any trouble with the visuals
surprisingly, considering the boss type
We literally just had someone complaining about the visuals.
literally 2 messages above when you entered the chat lmao
it's more just
sure, i can hold L1 and poke with a shield
but my brain will just spazm whenever he does anything that puts a light on the screen and i won't dodge
and it's jsut painful to play
Bandai patched out the flashbang when you start the game and shoved it into the DLC
Honestly
it's why my preferred build is moons
I do not think this is the fault of the game
but yeah, i wouldn't compare this to a fight like FG or giant lord
Yeah, come on. The boss is visual overload is a consistent complaint.
And I'd actually agree! If it's not for you, sweet, but for a lot of people it's a fucking mess. Especially in phase 2, where the majority of the visual overload comes from his role catch shenanigans
it's much easier on my eyes and brain to just sit back and throw a moon at someone
where i have to constantly fight the camera
like
I'm aware it's mostly my brain being fucked up
yeah for sure
That's getting into the weeds on is it a bad fight is is it just the camera being bad, and I'd argue it's both
while i dont think it was cheese it did feel a little lame, but i do think it was fun to have him send out a billion clones of holy fire and i just spam shield parry and ignore that shit we do not care
like in ac6 when there's more than 2-3 ACs on the field, my brain is overloaded and i just don't know what to do
Like froms camera sucks.
regardless also
yeah, i just don't think this one having fast attacks makes it an objectively bad fight
or maybe it's the angles i was taking in the fight, and i just didn't experience the rear visual clutter that other people did
Don't put words in my mouth, please.
i'm responding to this post
"arguably a bad fight from a design perspective"
and i'm just saying i am arguing with that
You are. I said visual spam, that's not equal to fast attacks.
it's a terrible fight
It is a visually noisy fight
i had omre fun against the sad snake twink
i was addressing the aspect i thought "visual spam" was referring to, as the ||lasers behind the sword swings have been, in my experience, far enough behind the camera that they don't obstruct the attack cues||
i'm not trying to be hostile or aggressive, here
i'm just trying to disagree with the idea that it's fundamentally bad
No, I'm with Emily here, let's drop this please
okay
We're not going to agree and this is seriously getting my hackles up.
fight sucks, my brain doesn't work, i cheated through it and found out it wouldn't even be worth it to struggle through it
next convo
why bow bad
what bow do to be bad
Bow bad because it insulted Michael Zaki one time back in college
lynn just fyi if someone wants to stop a convo like that is very bad form to like
get the last word in like that
just a gentle note
Bows are bad because from approaches thimgs from a narrative first approach, which dictates that bows should have good long ranges etc.
So they do!
And because of that they can't have any kind of good damage or the entire game falls apart because you can sit back and plonk shit to death. (Compare how many spells just go I travel exactly this far and then I go poof)
It's an ugly cludge that doesn't really make any sense, but it's the sort of weird thing they seem determined to stick to
It's not even a good cludge, because you can In fact... Sit back and plonk shit to death
it's a soft discouragement
They also suck because of ammo mechanics, input responsive npcs, and the terrible camera that takes control away from the player
my thing on it is just that the from games aren't about using a bow
because it demands more resource management and more time
the entire game falls apart because you can sit back and plonk shit to death.
ranni moon in question
comet in question
literally just magic in question lmao
that's about what i'd say as well, yeah
but it's a game about melee combat with magic playstyles available as well
notably, the stronger ranged weapons have usually been short-ranged in some way
but even the magic is pretty craz short range in context
like the avelyn having pretty poor tracking at longer ranges in all the games it's good
This is why we need the spin-off "The Legend of Elden Ring: Patches Crossbow Training"
The problem with that argument is they're presented as an equivalent to various magic or weapon options, even though as you say they're more of a consumable tool
and the triple-shot stuff in ER hitting reasonably hard but only in cqc
The game tells you one thing, the reality is different
greatbows are this big exception to low damage at long ranges, because they're so heavy and slow
but they do hit like a truck
(in some games)
that's fair. I do think it's pretty obvious that you shouldn't invest heavily into using a bow pretty instantly tho
(like I agree the game is about melee combat and that's it's strength, but they need to bite the bullet and design bows around it, not dangle this bows are totally valid! They're not)
i think it'd be hard to be 'tricked' into maining bows
They aren't even really a good side arm option is the depressing part
from also likes letting people explore weird esoteric bullshit
yeah not really, they're a good stats delivery tool tho
status
and some of them do good damage for utility stuff
so bows being in their funky utility space is its own draw
like sniping
when i started as a samurai i typically used the longbow to kill dogs
since they spawned alongside groups of normal guys, and fighting them alongside said groups was really fucking annoying
Huh, interesting.
That's always been in the way to much effort category for me, dog heads are super vulnerable to getting fucking stabbed
... Sometimes people are are brain poisoned when it comes to the lore of this game.
Why is Malenia the severed!? ... Because she's literally missing three limbs. She's been been severed. Just over complicating stuff to the nth degree
Pulley Crossbow with burred bolts and frostbone bolts (rimed crystal buds are hilariously abundant) do be pretty good
why is the pulley crossbow the lightest It’s already the best crossbow in nearly every situation
From has deeply questionable balancing decisions.
Goldmask made it too good
Every other weapon should be designed by a genius don't know what to say
quite literally built different
Truly we need a pulley sword and pulley axe and pulley thrusting shield
That last one has a pilebunker in it
...pulley greathammer
it's just the boom hammer
goldmask makes Bloodborne weapons
You joke but the dlc has the boom hammer in it
(It's a flail 🤮 )
pulley axe is a double-bladed battleaxe that replaced the whirligig saw
Goldmask dresses in rags because he dreams of Bloodborne fashions we cannot comprehend in ER
pulley sword is a gunblade
I never joke about trick weapons
pulley weapon that's actually just the Charge Blade from MonHun
i do think that while i love pinboard rabbit hole stuff some overthinking happens yeah does it really matter who the charo of charos hidden grave is ? or is it just something they picked that sounds like charon
wait is it charos hidden grave
shit it is
i've been misreading it as grove
and apparently i'm not the only one based on autofill
love how i saw a mariner sailing around and was like "ah i know this one, ez" and then ||it summoned a fucking royal revenant||
lmao yeah
Probably cause it sounds like Charon
Going by the fact that the massive tombs are Ships
||the dlc twists on "normal" bosses and enemies are so fucking funny||
||you go to your first gaol. it's a mini legacy dungeon and then it has a fucking demihuman with magic waterfowl dance||
||you go fight the mariner. it summons royal revenants and tells you to shit yourself||
Holy damage in question
||you find the dragon zone. the dragons have chain lightning and ruin your day||
funny thing about that boss is that ||he seems like a decent challenge 1v1 but with a spirit ash summon or cooperator he's a complete pushover bc unlike most of the DLC bosses he has basically no poise to speak of||
i curb-stomped him on my first try because i summoned a spirit ash "just in case"
||i walked up with a cold greathammer and beat him to death, yeah||
||but the initial surprise was fucking funny||
||it's just a demihuman, are you kidding mOH FUCK||
i didn't summon or use phantoms for anything in the dlc except the ||deathblight gank squad divine lion||
Yoda scream
||One of my favorite bosses in the dlc, and that’s saying a lot||
||yeah i'm gonna have to fight him with like, a dane's footwork build||
||to experience the full fight||
||At one point I just took out arrow, bow and quarter of an hour to skewer them because I got insane. Unfortunatly I get framedrops when he uses his minty breath while the Deathfrogs also use their abilities||
Finally, scary Tibia Mariner
I got this experience because I found the one in the world before finding the one that's a dungeon boss
at least with a boss you're vaguely prepared for something
the demihuman guy has a grab that i have never seen

Yknow what's depressing?
previously you were pretty much using the cane sword or basic twinblade or accepting that you'd have a handguard throwing off the look
Rell's swords not keeping the buff after you use the skill
Would've been cool to buff them up by using both skills after each other
You're sure? I'll take it if you don't want it but I don't really have anything I could give in return.
what does SoC stand for here?
soul of cinders
ahhhhhh
i forgor him
yeah lol you're fine
are you on ER right now?
set ur pswd to liminal n leave a duelist sign at church of Ellen? near the anvil
they never expect the ol' messmer special
Danke schun
np
this is dlc ng+1 for me and im not gonna use the star lined sword anytime soon
so i just went n killed the dude rq last night to drop lol
Lmao fair
cuz like. i still have another +0 one
and i have like 3 more builds i want to try before it all comes back to dex/int katanas
Damn these DO look good powerstanced
i like da dane hat on that setup
i also wish the er moonlight greatsword had kept that coloring from the other games
i like the teal better than the dark blue
Dane's hat fucking rules, best helmet in the game
frog hat n pumpkin hat r also bangers tho
...Chrissakes I wish there was somewhere I could trade these in for somber ancient stones, I'm practically swimming in these things
lmaoo yeah but if you ever want them you'll run out quick-ish
I think they patched it at some point, though I haven't tried it recently
...forgot why I and literally everyone else fucking loathes revenants
I have never once forgotten my hate
honestly I kind of want to make a build that's just
hyper-optimized healer specifically to badger people into summoning me
to fucking annihilate every revenant
everywhere
I yearn for their agony
Forgot how shitty the Haligtree is in general
Fucking awful
Had to waste 90% of my flasks on the FOUR FUCKING REVENANTS they put in the ONE safe way to progress that won't result in you getting shot to death by fucking shotgun ballistas
And I got stuck in a corner and died because apparently the game just doesn't have enough tree spirits and they HAD to put another in
The trick to fighting revenants is using the Great Heal incantation
It does damage and staggers them if you cast close enough to them
If you’ve got a sturdy spirit summon to draw aggro you can pop it twice when they spawn nearby and it’ll take them out in two castings
...
I
Might uninstall this game
This is tipping me over the edge
I am so goddamn tired of how reliant it is on throwing bullshit at you
...hm
Forgot to take off my arrow sting/reach talismans, that's prolly why I'm having a bad time
the problem with that is when several of my builds run prisoner
the 6 fth class
yes, revenants die instantly to heal spells
doesn't make them less ass if you're not running faith
just an annoying enemy design
Fucking chuck a warming stone at them idk
Try Finger Maiden Therolina if you're having trouble with Revenants
she's a support summon whose thing is spamming heal
...sorry for losing my temper
I know this might not help now, but there's another route - if you jump on the flying buttresses, you can drop onto a balcony above the revenant alley, which leads into a room where a couple of cleanrot knights are hiding and if you book it left you can escape them, get behind the two ballistae on the elevated position, and hop onto another flying buttress that goes directly above the putrid avatar. From there you can jump into the area where the Haligtree Knight Helm is, and climb down to the grace.
that's my usual route for when I'm just going through the area, since it's the least nasty and easiest to get past the enemies
That does seem nicer, thank you
visual aid from a screenshot I searched up on google real quick lol
Thanks Jane
...wait, they added the ability to summon Torrent for the Elden Beast?
Fuckin nice
All I did was beat the grandma until she was unconscious before I went into the boss room..
This is my 2nd play through of the DLC, and I haven’t seen it anywhere. Maybe it has some significant value maybe it doesn’t. Just thought it was interesting.
The DLC has been out for a while now. Maybe there's other alternative dialogue options in cuts...
Just put together how much Malenia reminds me of kushana from nausicaa, both red haired general-princesses with golden prosthetic armor made by a miyazaki
This is rather relaxing
I kinda wanna do this with the other troll carts ngl, see where they end up
RIP 😭
Smithscript daggers seem pretty decent for proccing frost
status does seem like the best use for them
Being in the Rauh Ruins sure be tanking my frames
scadutree avatar is such a fromsoft-ass boss
what if a giant flower was evil, but also tragic?
ive seen many a discussion of the many one eyed characters in elden ring here and elsewhere but ive only today seen mention of the iron prisoner mask
Are there are spells that mess with enemy speed or hold them in place or something similar?
Oh, Gravity Well, ignore me
Just give em the ol' YOINKY DOINK
also @left willow there's Gravational Missile in the DLC, and Collapsing Stars in the base game.
Yeah
I was looking for a spell to translate for my carian knight player's "stop an enemy" spell.
So Gravity Well works well
Gravity mages eating good in the dlc
Grav missile is dropped from a Fallingstar Beast, isn't it -_-
I should grab it
yes c:
oof

The baby beasts? ez
Doesn't matter if they're weaker to it if I'm ass at dodging their shit
i struggled with them at first as wel
those rock horses are a bit of a pain
but the most important thing is to keep distance and if you see any purple around it book it
also, I switched my build over to faith with dex for the Spear of the Impaler, and I’ve been enjoying fire serpent
the range leaves a bit to be desired, but it’s nice to a have a quick tracking projectile for incant builds
ngl
i really wish we got rennala's dodge as a spell
where she jumps back or to the side and spawns projectiles as she goes
That would be bitchin
If there was it’d probably be dropped by a red wolf
or no wait the wolf does glintblades for its dodge and not stars
that's also fine tbh
My main issue with the dogs is that they seem to pop up where I'm not expecting there to be a field boss which obviously causes me some issues
what, the red wolves?
Yeah
Cause I have an exploration set of spells and a boss set of spells and there's basically no overlap
Follow up with a normal attack to cast the Night Comet sorcery,
that's not a night comet, michael zaki
doing Nihil and he pulls the fork out after the 3rd with spaghetti on it
is this a character from something or just twinkified mohg?
i assume the former since
touhou project
fork
probably
Not enough horns to be twinkified Mohg
