The real point of Arcane builds, to me, is you can go Occult for great physical damage + bleed/poison build up, there's some very nice arcane scaling arts of war (Blood Tax, The Poison Flower Blooms Twice), and you get Dragon Commuion Seal, making them a very good, if stat intensive, way to do a spellblade type build

full dlc spoilers ||i kept malenia alive this playthrough in case any new content happened but i think thematically it's better to assume the tarnished has already killed her by the time they reach the shadow realm. solidifies the parallels between miquella and marika if the one person miquella ascended to save is already gone. and also sets up an obvious Other for him to wage a gruesome holy war against: the tarnished. they even give you a reminder that tarnished are Othered by the golden order with messmer's dialogue.||
