You can do some save file shenanigans to swap in a character with one drop it off and restore your old character
In the load save menu there's an option to open the save folder and somewhere in there is a file named after a steam ID, thats the character save and you can just move that between save folders

i have now used ther sleeb, click this button from the load game menu, then open the character folder and then Player data and then the Player_###.sav file is your character.
you can back that up for your world then make a new world get a hammer and move that character to your original world drop off a hammer in a box or on the floor and then restore your original save.
you can also use this to like redo your perks but you'll clear out all your xp and stuff (drop off your full inventory if you do and dont forget your backpack)
