With Honglisto coming out people are talking about Callisto again and I feel like people kinda, don’t get him. Most namely that Callisto isn’t really a bad artist persay, it’s that he’s a stagnant artist.
Callisto was a maestro and did earn his rank, his work is extremely technically impressive and he’s very willing to learn other styles (as seen by his education of Ryoshu being very all encompassing).
However corporism became seen as outdated by the ring, and Callisto as dedicated to it also was seen as outdated. So he was made nursefather and basically bared from seeking out new inspiration or emotions to drive his work, creating that technically impressive but uninspired gallery Hohenheim talks about.
When Hohenheim does talk to him and does offer him genuine critique he is elated since that’s something he hasn’t gotten in decades. Someone who engages with his art not as something tacky and outdated but as something he’s actively trying to still make.

okay so it really depends on what you have, but ime:
- tremor is fucking stupid. the TKT watches genuinely just give you +4 coin power. take allegory. take molar outis. just take anyone with coins in abundance. I watched Wu Sang clash 60 off of tremor alone.
- Bloodfiend bleed team. There's so many gifts for them, and if you have all of them, and two other solid bleed units, you have a very strong team
- any poise dual status. 12 clash power makes anyone strong, honestly
- dual status in general is strong, especially poise or tremor
now then, with trials
- basically never take base, clash, or final power. maybe two in your entire run, max. take as few offense level ups as well, and if you have to, take brutality. brutality can be overcome with a tiny bit of savescumming, especially in packs against enemies with SP. besides, you'll get them earlier, so it won't be as hard anyways
...don't take brutality over like, 3 offense level, though. use your noggin.
