I have a lot of similiar thoughts on Valencina (she's a horrible fucking person and an awful parent, don't get me wrong, but she's a very well written horrible person)

Like it's very very clear that she never really left the Smoke War behind- I'd speculate that led to her alcoholism and her explusion from Sottocapo for embarrassing the family.

Much like Callisto, she's incredibly talented but keeps trying to scrabble back at the past, when she was respected, when she was Someone.

None of this excuses the way she treats Ryoshu and Lucio (or anyone else), of course, but I think she's got a lot of interesting stuff to look at thematically.
