I've been using the 380 a lot lately because it's pretty much the most reliable base destroyer
you prefer it to orbital laser?
Unlimited uses and shorter cooldown is nice, and it doesn't get distracted killing a hulk scorcher or something wander off the base
Just needs communications
Since its a 50-60 meter standoff instead of just throw it at your feet lol
And it takes out bug nests nicer
i'd just throw a grenade
yeah, orbital laser definitely wants you to throw it DURING an assault sometimes
I like the orbital laser for stabilizing a bad objective or something but I prefer the 380 for taking bases
oh vs bugs i don't think i've brought either 120 or 380 in a good while
You just toss it in, wander off, and if there's anythign left its easy to finish

does it work for heavy bases as well as the laser?
bugs tend to not be as neatly spread out as bots
or do you need like 2 people to throw bombardments
You need to land the marker relatively close to the actual fabs since its biased towards the middle but yes
It's about 60% it kills them all and 40% one fab in a weird spot lives
But it also tends to destroy all the MG nests and defenders so its easy to finish off
The thing I'm really impressed with is command bunkers
I think its actually the best strat in the game for taking them out
500kg crying in the corner
it feels kinda nonsensical which buildings take a hellbomb vs which can be stratted
looking at you, gunship facility
500 kg used to be good for bunkers but after the bunker buffs it takes too many of them and landing the marker close enough is risky with all the gun turrets
i want to use it but the battle master goes too hard
it's worth a try
380 is just "land it vaguely nearby and hope that at least 2/23 shells land near it"

if its exactly on the eye its like 2-3 seconds, so not too slow, just easy to slide off target when it moves
best done from crouch or prone to minimize sway
but it does burn out hulks pretty quick if your aim is good
i'm learning other weapons b/c i think the autocannon's gonna catch a nerf before too long
laser seems to do a lot of the same jobs just a little worse
i've been experimenting a bit with the spear. Surely it'll get fixed/buffed, right 🙃
if they fix the spear lock it'll be one of my favorite weapons by a huge margin
i love it for running around doing objectives vs bots

turns out if everyone has the backpack to reload everyone else, its super smooth

it's actually balanced. The devs think so, at least- it takes a backpack slot, eats through ammo, and isn't the best at dealing with any one thing
it's an all-rounder (if anything its best vs medium targets), can't take out heavy armour, isn't ideal vs infantry but can work
yeah autocannon and grenade launcher are the supports they are ballancing arouns

I wouldn’t be shocked if the AC lost a tiny amount of damage or ammo pickup efficiency but I don’t think it’s overpowered
If there’s something up with it it’s how it’s ammo economy is good enough you don’t really have to… switch off it
Support weapons should feel strong, they're your reliable combat lynchpin for basically the entire mission
You do run out of ammo if you're using it for everything, it's very inefficient into small targets

a lot of my usual squad runs sickles
often a MG as well, so light targets usually aren't an issue
which frees me up to run autocannon
It's one at the moment and the explodey one doesn't super grab me
So it might be worth waiting a few days just to see if anything you like better comes out in the other warbond

It's a completely different experience than say fighting on draupnir vs creek which are both bot planets
as a bug player i just enjoy seeing the funny red number and making sure we prioritize the right targets before they blitzkreig their way into a bile titan spiral
i just like being able to run heavy armor, bug missions usually mean too much running for my taste
the mid-light armor is fire tho
i run the enforcer armor (medium heavy) and its fine
The extra bit of armor lets you tank quite a bit of things
that's probably true, i haven't tested bugs with the latest armor patch
As far as Im aware its the only type
(it being medium with slightly more amror/lower stamina)
yeah i think there's one per armor type
light gunner, fort commando, and ig enforcer, tho i don't have it
there's also the titan armor in the light-medium slot
slightly higher armor rating than light for less speed and stamina, with engineering kit passive
enforcer doesnt have the extra armor trait tho, it has exp resist and recoil reduction it is literally in a seperate catagorey, the default armors are the medicum equivelent for what your talking about

With the explosive changes I might actually start using it for bots too

the rocket changes are amazing, in battle master i can just eat them for days
the endless rain of lasers makes it a bit of tough sell, but I love it so much I use it anyways
I like the light medic armor for bugs and heavy medic for bots for bots now explosives aren't a death sentence
i'm starting to believe more armors are viable against bots than bugs now
now that rocket explosions deal intended amounts of damage
with bots you can tank a decently high amount of gunfire if you don't get randomly domed, and it's actually saved me decently well especially with the ballistic shield
on bugs if you're not running light armor you get mauled to death by hunters though
I think my new bot setup has 3 support stratagems of quasar, ballistic shield, and mech with 500kg

I have been doing AC/Airstrike/Precision Orbital/Rail Cannon lately
Anything with barrage in the name I forget exists entirely
I have been blown up too much
EMS turret is also great
I just ran some missions with heavy explosion resistant armour + backpack ballistic shield + defender + EATS and then something to take out buildings.
I also run healing light armour + DMR + the lock on missile combo sometimes because they're funny.
Sickle Senator Impact and a engineer kit medium armor also
sadly I don't have the Sickle or the Senator
A part of me wants to start dropping in with basic kit stuff like the starting armor and liberator and whatnot just because after like level 15 you never see them
Just start giving off the menacing aura of the newbie gear on a higher level character

My bot build is mostly the same as my bug build, just differernt primaries really

And either blitzer/plasma punisher, senator, or stun nade
Blitzer for bugs, plasma pun for bots
My fun bug build is

Airburst
Mech
Airstrike
ive grown to like the clusters after the personal order to use them
Breaker incendiary is really good with both direct damage buff and fire DoT
Helps that i actually know min-safe on it
ok sickle just goes really far from how i usually operate
(aka semi auto reliant, shooting for accuracy)

i'm not good at controlling full auto guns i find, that and i really don't take shot spread into account when i shoot far
basically no recoil makes it a lot easier to dial in
tbf you have quasi-infinite ammo

the gun is both a literal laser beam
and a metaphorical laser beam
Oh I usually get lime 70%+ with at least 2000 shots fired with a sickle
that has basically bottomless mags
Idk if accuracy is correct cause I usually get like 40% in most gamss
I love that it's accurate enough to snipe the top of a strider pilot's head over their shield with even a little bit of elevation
Or maybe I'm just shooting really close targets all the time
It has very little recoil
It's no sniping weapon but it can easily do 50 to 100m hitting devs in the head with short bursts

Found two in the same mission, killed that first one, avoided the other
Both times I just threw a 380 and started praying
it took me nearly 2 whole spears and a 500kg embed to kill it
(whole counting the backpack to be clear)
so like.. nearly 7 shots didnt even kill
The second time, I killed it via hellpod landing, so I got lucky there
(the 380 missed due to complex stratagem plotting)

See I used 120s for base clears but it would often just... not hit the fab
So I tend to just go for eagle strikes
380 tends to clear bases... eventually
But with the upgrade it lasts like 30 seconds

What's the tradeoff between the orbital gatling and airburst?
They both seem to do basically the same thing
orbital gatling is a lot less continual
airburst fires a huge blast at regular intervals
gatling fires for like a second and then stops
Orbital gatling has a marginally shorter cd and hits unreliably but continuously
gatling is also dependent on the position of the super destroyer in the sky so I've found it's largely useless
Airburst hits 2x (3x with extra guns!) at about 1.5 second intervals and kills basically everything with less than heavy armor each time
Airburst is kind of the goat

the attack pattern is basically like shining a flashlight down on the ground, if that helps you visualise it
the problem is that the flashlight can be pointed from fucking anywhere

And airburst is a big cone that comes out three times
cluster is pretty reliable just because it chucks out a trillion submunitions
so everything will get hit at least once if not multiple times
(including your teammates)
but I've also been killed by what I think is a bounced submunition at least once
cluster is super reliable at the cost of occasionally pinging your teammate in the head with frangible popcorn

I'm good at clusters
they cover a huge area

i think explosions just can hit even if they explode on the bars or edge, as they aoe
no specific weakness i am aware of
okay, I heard somewhere that the abdomen end of the bile spewers is only a weak spot to explosive
i dunno i dealt damage there with the countersniper but maybe that was due to armour piercing
if you have medium armor pen aim for the head, it gets the job done faster

I played a ton with quasar tonight and loved it.
And then as I ended the night I realized I spent the entire thing on a cold planet, so I think the baseline gun is probably quite different from what I experienced!

Cold planets make it take longer to charge to fire but I think it’s bugged and they don’t cool faster for the next shot

the lib concussive for instance
for spewers
idk about hulks since their vents are weak to most things
plasma weapons aren't explosive which gives them some weird properties
the scorcher is explosive iirc?
but yeah most weak spots (vents, spewer and bile titan sacs, etc) take increased damage from explosive-tagged weapons
spewer sacs take like 90% reduced damage from regular shots but full damage from explosives

Strap the remote detonation grenade on the 95% explosive resistant armor
i got that dawg (sand worm) in me i have taken the water of life (cool blue gatorade)

gimme a PIAT (personal infantry anti tank) a reloadable shoulder launcher that throws a huge directed charge with a small bullet and a Big Spring in a short ranged arc. A reloadable EAT that does more damage but fires in a short arc. Great for hitting the top of hulks and tanks or hitting bile titans from the underside.

There's a few armors that are really worth grabbing, mainly ones that don't have a version of that armor type in the passes
these mfers just got out of the damn trenches wtf
though it rotates pretty fast
for example there's a light armor with a perk that gives it the armor of a medium which is really nice
that does sound cool
There's also a heavy armor with said perk which just gives you absurd levels of armor

diving into tank shells(as long as they don't hit your head) means you usually survive em

the only thing that irks me on that armor is the lack of neck

its Lé chonk, higly recommend, just get the helmet too so it matches

Also I suggest rebinding your prone key(not dive) and crouch keys to where you can quickly press them cause ducking under devastator rocket barrages never stops feeling amazing
and is much safer than trying to dodge them by moving

it's a stratagem
backpack slot, you can fire one handed weapons with it(sidearms, smgs), and when you're not using it(sprinting, using a two handed weapon like for example the arc thrower), it's on your back and still blocks stuff that hits it

Each planet has a base percentage where the liberation drops by like 1.5%(?) per hour so if everyone is spread out equally then it's effectively 4.5% loss every hour vs the 1.5% of focusing on one planet
Yea you kind of get kicked a lot in pub games for being low levels, accidentals, wearing the new cape, "bad" loadouts, and my favorite not reinforcing during ion storms or in jammers

i didn't really like the bug missions i've done so far so this current major order suits me fine
the best reddit post i've seen in the last week is "hellbombs should detonate instantly if you mess up the inputs"
yeah freyja, bug missions are a horde shooter, bot missions are a LOT more tactical
they're both horde shooters i guess
every correct button input is one (1) second of fuse
automaton missions haven't felt much like horde shooters personally tbh
there are a lot of enemies sometimes but like
the prospecting missions
automaton missions still do the horde shooter thing but the lots of ranged enemies and wide open areas make for a really unique feeling experience where you have to deal with "hordes" of fire-and-maneuver sections
you can also USUALLY burst down automatons very quickly
so it's like, even if there's a ton of bots it's usually possible to just wipe the infantry then kill the others at a slower pace

bots are straightforward ranged power, but illuminate were tricksy
