When someone's getting hosed and you don't have a headshot on a devastator, i like the functionality to peel the dev for a moment and give them breathing room.

if you want what the slugger lost I'd highly recommend the dominator though, it has stagger and onetaps at the cost of mag reloads and a bit less ammo

it's still not the best with staggering the heavy devs if you hit the shield but if you hit non shield parts they really do not like it yeah
I definitely think the slugger nerfs were both warranted and not nearly as bad as people think

Dominator already punked heavy devs pretty hard if you hit the head or backpack so that’s nice

I will say that the arc thrower feels like it got hit pretty hard
you have four stratagem slots
it just chunks parts off devastators(I basically always just pop rocket dev packs now)
No more 1.8x fire rate trick, and the lost of 15 meters of range is pretty painful
the arc thrower is so tasty now, but it takes some getting used to
It stuns every bot except tanks
like this is me being me but I think some people are so used to taking backpack plus support weapon that they forget that you can just not run a backpack

The boosted stagger was not very noticeable to me but I had trouble testing it because of EAT firing squads

also you can keep hordes of berserkers at bay while killing them pretty fast

I find the story of the dominator really funny though
In my mind i just think it was fine in terms of functionality, and the rest of the weapons in comparison don't really enter into it

I would highly recommend running a bunch of different weapons though, like for example I never thought I'd like the dominator until I picked it off someones corpse and onetapped 5 devastators in a row
now it's my main weapon

I prefer semi cuz I struggle with the burst recoil + generally have better ammo effeciency

I think the Scythe has something to do with either boosted weak point damage or something to do with red hit markers

Yeah, but you said it does more than 150dps and to me it feels like it barely does anything at all.
Efficiently taking out patrols or groups of enemies before they can call in reinforcements is doable/fun/rewarding, and usually not too difficult, already. This is especially true in a squad but even solo it's not too challenging with a bit of thought/practice.
Adding silenced weapons will make that trivial and remove a ton of interaction in the game. It also doesn't lend itself to teamwork. Or at least, leads away from that direction.
There are other games you can play if you want the silenced weapon / full stealth gameplay loop.
For the dagger you really need to hit weak points
those are not mutually exclusive

Right, but i don't think that having functional silent weapons is gonna be very good for the game still. Trivializing picking apart patrols without causing alerts is going to be even worse.

You can avoid patrols nearly 100% of the time up until extract, and then you have all your strats and trusty support weapon for the few bot drops that get called
i wonder if suppressed weapons having extra damage on unaware enmies could work..
Which is why I enjoy the quasar a lot when soloing - taking down the dropships when they come in makes things so much easier to handle.
Silent weapons seem nice for taking out POI guards but especially later in a mission or whatever makes the patrols huge its really hard to take them out before someone pops a flare/plume
also sometimes patrols decide to engage you
esp if you're not running stealth armor
Though usually I use an area destroyer like airburst
That is what i run yeah, and especially with the rocket fix it's gonna take some sweet buffs to get me back into trying heavy armor

But that's what it'll do. There was a ton of discussion about this with the GTFO devs, another squad based shooter that has alerts and such, and they spoke and wrote a lot about how suppressors sort of broke teamplay every way they tried testing them

Why's that?
Since you could do it from further away
also with less risk of aggroing other patrols
So normally firing a shot basically makes every enemy in a big radius turn towards you
And in more situations, since you're not going to pull as many other enemies.
Silent weapons, from what we have seen, make it so that it only happens if the enemy sees someone die in their tiny cone of vision (ime)
But like... that's a big part of why teamwork is important. People gotta communicate enemy locations better without silencers
So there's way more grace for opening up on a patrol as a group
That risk requires teamwork to manage
like, first off I don't think this gun is actually very good from the stats but also from the description I don't think it's going to be silent silent
Whereas without suppressors and good teamwork ambushes tend to lose out to "throw airstrikes in front, then rush through" which is practically the battle drill 1 of helldivers
Sure, and now the teamwork is slightly different, since there are other risks. And probably drawbacks to the weapons.
It's just enabling another playstyle.
And simply run away from the resulting reinforcements
Something I think will be sort of annoying is if suppressors are "all or nothing" for a team
if we get a customization system that lets you slap a suppressor on anything then maybe there will be issues but one of the tradeoffs of the suppressed rifle is having to take the suppressed rifle
I don't think that "other playstyle" (stealth) meshes well with the design of the rest of the game and how easily it spills over into the huge fights where it excels.
What I could see suppressors do is that if you snipe with it, they don't know where it comes from so they're gonna not aggro onto you even if they see someone die
but rather do recon by fire in every direction
I do wish the devs were a bit more transparent with how HD2 actually functions but that's also the part of my brain that optimizes the fun out of things
I do recall a tweet from the arrowhead CEO talking about how he liked to do full suppressor missions

Really that 2nd mech is going to open up a whole new playstyle, where you can be in a mech for every important fight on most missions

Having a teammate with the Big Shield is so solid with a mech
spear locks onto new gun ships and kills them in one, so happy about that
I don't think its super useful because it doesn't protect much but it does something
even bringing one yourself, the popin/out isn't slow

I can confirm I've been kills by a lack of shield pack because I forget chargers charging you is supposed to a lot of deal damage

My silly suggestion is you can permanently overcharge the shield to become completely invincible and it turns you into a hamster ball cause nothing gets in or out not even the ground or air so you got a few minutes to bowling ball before you die of suffocation

I think the blast resist heavy armor is pretty solid
blast resist vs the new rocket damage is hilarious
Lets you just messily 1v1 rocket devs and play with an alarming amount of danger close explosives
But being fast is so good
I use it whenever I'm restricted to 3 stratagems.
Heavy blast resist is very good against bots and you can laugh at rocket devs until you run out of stims
Especially with shield pack for overkill one shot defenses
I definitely used to swear by heavy armor vs bots, but then i actually ran a couple missions in light stealth armor and i can't go back now
Since against bots I really like having some 1-shot protection, which is either a shield or the heavy armor.
If I die more than twice in a 40 minute bot mission I cry a bit in the inside

ive been taking missiles left and right with 100 armor value

i imagine the mech is a lot more usable now
I'm gonna have to see how it feels to replace shield pack with mech, trying to get off the shield pack with each heavy armor buff

I think its much more usable now but ammo boxes not refilling it at all kinda sucks

That kind of ruins it for me I rarely ever use supply boxes and let my teammates have it, I run a very low cost efficient sustain build usually
I think it also has more reloads? Or reloads more consistently?
Upside is while it has ammo it will kill all small bots within its attack radius before you notice them

That gun on the pelican has obscene range and can kill bile titans and shoot down dropships

hamblergh, the best way to do them is to hit buttons, then run outside of the base to force the spawns to be away from the civvies
the best way to do it is to have 1 sneaky breeki in the base and 3 people galivating around the map fighting every bot drop so none of them show up at the base
but you can do it with one person too
unfortunately my teammates still insist on fighting on the obj
so i guess i gotta be the guy that runs away from everything to take the heat off them?

Is randomly you begin to extract before a cutscene plays and you get shot by the pelican pilot and turns out it's the fourth faction
It's so important to offset your defense at least a little bit so you're not neck deep in berserkers next to the buttons all the time
the only way you can clear them consistently is so damn unituitive and it's been like this for MONTHS it bothers me so much

I played 2 which went badly because of poorly thought out defenses and then went to fight bugs
i once accidentally one less loose ended the entire squad
I feel like too many people don't release that when defneding an objective you're supposed to create a perimiter around the objective rather than fighting on top of it
it doesn't help that the bot drops spawn SO close to the players on that mission
it doesn't help that the bigger version of the same objective allows you to get away with squatting on the civs
The problem is the enemies spawn on top of it
we were at 0 reinforcements, i accidentally arc thrower a player right as they prepare eagle cluster bomb, it lands at our feet and kills the rest of us, completing the mission
not to mention HOLY FUCKING SHIT THREE HULKS AND TWO TANKS???? what are these fuckin drops man
had to go to another planet so they wouldnt recognize me

but the 500 did have its radius reduced several patches ago right
120 and 380 got their aim radius reduced
500 has a small damage radius but it's a nuke on demand basically
500 has either a cone or cylinder aoe, not a sphere. It's very powerful, just requires precision

500 is weird because the damage falloff is so extreme
i still like the 500 for bot objectives

i don't usually take 500 on bugs anymore tbf, usually cluster airstrike and orbital rail
Biles have extreme amounts of body health. The head is weaker, but can still take a beating unless you get the shot just right with the eat. Spear is a consistent one hit if the Titan is facing you
The rocket pods will at least tear a hole in the armour, and that usually makes killing them easy - impacts into the hole do them in very fast

retried spear the day before the patch and liked it more than i expected to, though i won't lie the lock is aggravating against moving targets
JAR-5 is going to replace slugger for me vs bugs, so excited to grind the last SC for it
so i might pick it up again especially with all the new spear targets
