Just did a mission where I swore I was diving into bot challenging but when we dropped it was 9 and the host had unlimited orbital lasers

for some reason the game seems to be crashing a lot whenever I go to switch up armors
(it seems to be directly corelated to it failing to load them in)

Well, this last match is the literal first time I've had someone answer accidental friendly fire with seeking me out and deliberately teamkilling me.
Unrelated: yeah, the spear fucks, now that I know the trick is largely to mark the enemy first, then lock on.
One-shot three chargers back to back to back.
How do you mark enemies with it?
just the normal enemy marking system
you do it before picking an enemy to focus. so mark them, then aim just below the arrow on the mark symbol, lock on, and fire.

(though right bumper for me, because I play on controller. on pc. like a heathen.)
While I don't get it myself, if playing on controller works for you, more power to you.
I only use controller for character action games, and stuff like monster Hunter, dark souls
I use controller for basically all third person shooters, honestly.

TL;DR marking the enemies points to their centre mass
which is where the spear tries to look for and lock onto
making it easier for you to try and let it lock
(a bit longer) oneshots bile titans and chargers if you get them to face you (not 100% consistent) but it's really nice for the BTs and whenever the opportunity presents itself for chargers
however something like nursery spewers and spore spewers (as well as enviromental fog or dust) can heavily hinder your ability to properly use the Spear
EAT is genuinely becoming one of my favourite support weapons with how easily it takes out chargers
I mean since the one hit to head kill buff RR and EATs have become much better
also- I do feel that the spear should onehit kill chargers no matter where you hit them
considering you get- at most 4 missiles on you at any time
(1 in the tube 3 on the back)
not to mention the current unreliability regarding lock about 20-30% of the time ive been trying to run it extensively
so if the lock-on got fixed the charger matchup could remain unchanged

the more annoying issue with the spear is that versus automatons it often doesn't hit the roof of tanks or hulks, if it manages to lock-on in the first place
(the only targets besides fabricators you should really be using it on- striders are a waste of your very limited ammo supply)
which means that a lot of the time you will need to use two missiles on a very dangerous enemy that simply wont give you the time (not to mention all the other things that could be stopping you from solo reloading, which you will be doing 99% of the time as having someone else carry the spear backpack is largely not worth the very rare circumstances where you might need assisted reloading)

- Sometimes the player’s loadout customizations will reset after restarting the game.
Mostly great patch notes, I think.
I wish they'd do something about all the fizzles on the arc weapons and the spear lock-on, or at least acknowledged these as known issues, though.
Although the most pressing stuff is probably fixing the social stuff.
I think some of the fizzles are intended, it's just the feedback on what causes them isnt consitnet

I'm pretty sure it uses tracer rays with a random deviation from the barrel to find targets

Hitting turrets unless you're on the same height as them is a pain at times
but like I've felt with many weapons like the arc thrower, pointing the muzzle up helps with targeting

Comparing 150 AR + Explosive Resistance and 200 AR
Showcasing Vitality Booster's health increase on all previous ARs
And demonstrating that headshots currently ignore AR
These videos were recorded on the Patch 1.000.102 of the game

people seem to be far too clueless about what they're supposed to do against shriekers and I lack the patience required to deal with that right now

fresh new enemy's flies akd tries to swipe at you, worse than stalkers (side objective is their spawner which looks like a spore spewer almost) and nobody in randoms seems to be able to deal with them

They seemed to be more uniquely designed with a good variety of enemy comps and hostile side objectives
automaton chaos is always great
and I get randomly onetapped by rockets a bit less with the enforcer armour now
Cannon towers, detector towers, AA, jammers off the top of my head really affect the field and you can technically ignore them if you play around them
The big sides like spores, stalkers, new flyers nest you can't really ignore since they're in you're face all the time
the new flyers are a def shake up to the bugs
Thoguh they also play into the big bug thing: BUGS LOVE TO DISTRACT YOU
spores are not really a concern since you can just shoot them
Bugs I feel like are a bit under developed compared to bots there's just more bot structures and slightly more subtypes iirc
Bile Titans are literally just distraction carnifxes
They are "scary", but mosxtly not actually hugely threatning unless you play very poorly.
...however they're really fucking good at making everything else scarier/force multiplier
I mean they're the fastest enemy I believe
(Though it is very, very, very funny to bait them into vomiting on chargers/groups and teamkilling)
They just look slow but they got long looooonfg legs
Yeah, but like, if you break their sacks (An impact or two will do it) all they can do is teh melee.
And the vomit is pretty dogeable
Biletitans are just somewhat unthreatening cause they gotta stop to attack you, so everytime they catch up to you, you just gotta continue running
most of their threat is because they split your attention off the hunter/spewer swarms.
Bile spewers and nursery are deadlier to me since there's like x3 the amount
Yup, Spewers and Hunters are the big bug threats imho.
And they still one shot you without shield
Warriors if you let them overwhelm you
But warriors generally only overwhelm you if things are going sideays
Makes sense bugs deadliest enemies are the one with numerical superiority
Yeah, in general i actually really like the enemy balance
as a Slugger fan, warriors are the least dangerous enemy
i think the only things that really need tweaking to me are Heavy Devs and Rocket Devs\
Chargers you can juke in small numbers so like the big bugs are really distractiobs for the deadlier swarm
everything else feels pretty good - like spewers are mostly a "did someone bring a good explosives"
Chargers you can flat out turn against other bugs
like you can bait them into hitting bug holes and they'll die and close the hole
Bait them into their smash attack and tehy'll kill each other, or crush a spewer and kill themsleves from the explosion
Honestly just a really fun enemy.
Spewers thenselves are totally fine, i just dislike that every spawn has like 3 of them at once
if their numbers were more on a brood commander level i'd enjoy them a lot
Ever since I used GL spewer swarms are a lot better for me
Everyone without explosives call them out worried and me or autocannoneer is like I got this

i am a autocannon lover and i'm still annoyed by the hordes of spewers
You dont know if tehy're going to be in a mission or not.
My issue is they're silent
I don't think they even make noise even while spewing or if they do it's faint
Same with chargers and biles but those have the biggest signalling
It is, afaik, teh only enemy type (I'm grouping Spitters and Bile Warriors as subtypes of spewers, since they only spawn on Bile maps) that can just... not turn up at all.
(At least, once yoiui're high enough in diffculity)
Every other enemy type, there's defintely a modifier that faovrs certain classes of enemeys for a map
(i.e hunter heavy maps or lots of heavy devs, or lots of assaults)
I think with bots every bot type that can spawn on the diff will spawn throughout the mission? Just might not include certain subtypes
Bots feel more consistent in that regard
Bots are also a lot more similiar
Assaults (jetpack doods) seem to be the ones that'll go missing most often
but they're a subtype of b asic troopers
rest in piss jetpack men
same as Mauraders etc
and honestly, MG Raiders are way scarier.
Assaults are just anti-breaker tech.
(Breaker will kill but not yeet them, so they tend to fall onto you and explode)
The way they react when shot feels more satisfying too
Slugger on the other hand, time to go skeet shootin'
They seem to always spawn troopers, berserkers, devastators, and usually both tanks and hulks so you're expected enemy comp is relatively easy to prep for
I think spewers should be in every bug map even if in small amounts so it's not like a prepared or not type effect
And against bots, at least you see what is coming for you when the dropship drops them, bugs feels more random

Yes most bugs just die to a shot anyways, I think one thing is that animations for bots are bipedal so you can notice when they stagger more cause gamers are used to bipedal enemy animations, bugs kind of just flinch which is harder to notice when they're already so jittery and they just slump or ragdoll on death so it's less of a difference for a quadruped to slump than it is for a bipedal character to fall to the ground. Me the armchair game dev

Ironically with flamethrower you do not want to W at all or else you walk into your flames on the ground

yeah the flamethrower move is just M1 and standing perfectly still
fire resist armour would be pretty great actually
you could wade into a napalm strike and go nuts
Yea it's sort of a defensive playstyles imo, you kind of either side step or move backwards from the enemy as they advance towards you is the most movement you're getting
flamethrower + jetpack to fly away when they get close
yeah I found jetpack against bugs is the 'OH SHIT' button to jump away when surrounded
I can't get use to the jumpjet cause I keep trying to use it like a jetpack and fly my way around, brain won't accept it's a jumpjet, for jumping and jetting
if only the 95% explosion resist armor was real

So if you turned too fast, the missile would collide with the inside of the barrel and blow up

Shriekers don't have quite the same range as stalkers, from what I know. BUt they will swarm you once you aggro them
and their nests are a bit more visible

both encounters i've had were on 7 as well

now that i have almost all the pink samples i need for current upgrades i might drop down to around 5 because it's more relaxing
allows me to try some different weapons than the shotguns for once
I need to drop diff for common sample but 7 is a sweet spot for a VC squad for me, 6 with randos no mic
And I'm reaching max requisitions now I've unlocked everything so I can afford to not get a huge payout. I can now have fun and enjoy myself but will I after all this time
my main gate is rare samples at the moment, which seems to be an unusual problem from what other people are saying
only two upgrades i'm missing are hellpod steering and "instant" deployment, both of which are purported to do not much at all
I had like 100+ rare samples and only a couple common samples not too long ago

400, 220, 0 😔 and i need a couple of super rares

mightve been because all my friends have the opposite problem and skimp on rares

can clear out like half the map with 3 in a row
i don't usually run it because it feels like whenever i see that marker on the battlefield i or another member of the team becomes a skull icon soon after, but that's the price you pay with randoms
On bot exterminates, 5 clusters can easily rack up 80 kills with little effort and works if you die often
though it being able to kill bug buildings probably makes it better on that front
I've come to accept cluster is best ad clear spam for both enemies and friendlies

I would say "maybe they somehow changed the ragdoll physics in the patch" but that mission had like 8 chargers on the field at once so there was just a high probability that some of them would be weird

Helldivers isn't like, I'd say "intuitive" to most gamers since most games that do horde shooting gives you breaks then you move on in a lull and rewards for clearing the horde but in HD2 it's worthless to kill patrols except for fun, and detriment to do so at 8+

yes, the shrieker nest is on a bit of a platform, with a spiraling path up and then there is a little pool at the top surrounded by the shrieker towers and you can clal in a hellbomb in there

I’ve taken one out with a 500kg, and the other two with an airstrike
and its about equal to the one Extraction point thats on top of the rocks, but not the one with the T intersection and the cliffs going above the platform

There’s like three towers in each location
So in order to clear the nest, you have to destroy all three
Though the exact number of towers might vary like in stalker lairs
its basically the Spore tower asset copied 3 times as a little bouquet of bird nests
like maybe 5 meters apart from each other

it does actually look really pretty and creepy if you are up between the stalks!
and i did have that funny interaction earlier today where i called in the hellbomb for it and it smashed a Stalker to bits that was following me up 😄

Y’know, I’ve started to warm up to the muscle enhancement booster
Hot environment is an absurd stamina decrease - enhancement negates some of the effect, but even with it on, you're looking at a 25% decrease or so
It makes a big difference on planets with bushes or ice

What's the recommended anti-charger strategy with the autocannon now? I used to try and finesse leg shots but I'm unsure it's worth it anymore.
Shoot the tail if you can, shoot the ground beneath it if you can’t
Or shoot any obvious breaks in the armor
If you have stuns unlocked, throw them down as it's charging toward you, dive past, and shoot 4-5 times into the abdomen to burst it
Before the armor change the AOE damage was negligable, has that changed?
Not sure, but I’ve had decent success either shooting its underside or missing and hitting the ground beneath
How many rounds do you end up using?
Hard to say, but if I run out it’s usually hurt enough to finish with an impact nade

Well I bring it up because finessed leg shots kill in 2, it matters when there are at least 3 chargers on you at any given time.

Last night, i did a 4-person lv9 bugs where we all ran the exact same loadout:
Personal shield / orbital rail / EAT / arc thrower
95% arc resist armor
Impact nades, slugger (primaries were all over the place actually), redeemer
It made diff 9 feel like diff 4
Chargers die instantly, and you have a staggering amount of AT for biles
Hordes are wiped in seconds, arc throwers from friends can clear bugs off of swarmed friendlies
one arc thrower is helpful, four arc throwers is comedic

Massive overkill vs everything. If arc thrower doesn't get nerfed, that team comp will be good on higher diffs too
any unlimited ammo power weapon is always gonna be a bit sus
They'll probably pull the damage back against big units

I think for bugs it's S-tier free, but against robots where there's return fire and significantly more risks to standing out in the open at relatively close range

but there are times against flame hulks running atcha or rocket devs that are out of reach
If you hit like, the top half of the front plate of a scout walker they die
I like using laser cannon on bots
I like the Autocannon too much to ever give it up in my typical loadouts
I don't like it vs bugs but vs bots it's a perfect weapon
AC is always extremely extremely good in a team comp
The only things it doesn't kill from the front are tanks

You can stun a Titan and then onedeag it in the head with an EAT fairly trivially
and hordes are enough of a concern that I think the arc thrower nerf would also be very fair since it can still really shine against hordes

Now personally, I'd make the arc thrower unsafe like the railgun and remove its backscatter protection
you have to dodge several charges to kill a charger with it for example
Maximizes Fun per unit time
and you have to make sure that this enemy that you very much cannot control well, isn't between you and friendlies

You can stun lock their charges until they die before the get to you
You can actually kill a charger in the time it takes to do 1 charge if it starts near max range and you're lucky/good at aiming

If you're not at the difficulty knife fighting with chargers due to the amount of them I feel like any balance talk is out of the window anyway
there are cases where I think it can be very clunky (flame hulks) but the ginormous range is really fuckin wild

it's shockingly efficient at killing chargers like the arc thrower but killing yourself with no agency in the matter is a much more effective deterrent than occasionally killing teammates with some control over it
