hullo fellow hellers, one question, and an odd one at that...is there a way in game to turn off the HUD and UI in game?
I’ve been using it vs bots (mostly because that’s what my crew likes fighting) and it shreds what the autocannon bounces off
I like the railgun alot, but yeah, the sights leave a lot to be desired
you can futz with pretty much the whole UI in settings
Autocannon does tanks better than the railgun in my experience
Vs bots I really like the autocannon, but the AMR works in a pinch and the spear is actually fairly useful (the ammo issues are so real though)

It's very quick to triple tap the vents with it, the railgun has to reload twice
vs bugs there just isn't anything else which can pen a charger's leg armor up close and not blow me up
Scorcher, amazingly, can magdump tanks and cannon towers in a reasonable length of time
although you need to be pretty much in the middle of the rear arc or it'll rotate away before you're quite done
God tier for bots, mixed for bugs
The AC can two tap Hulks with two very precise shots to their small head, and kills tanks with three shots to the rear heat sink on a flank
I would like a martyrdom booster just because I want to embrace diving into bug holes once you're out of grenades
Failing hitting a Hulk's head you can dismember their weapon arms with like 4 shots to the limb joints
It handles them just fine
The headshot is a bit finnicky sometimes but the arms are easy

The more we play the more ways we find to trivialise heavier armour
George'ing a hulk is pretty trivial yeah
The main really tanky bastards are Bile Titans at this point
Best against Scorchers, since the flamer is the big instakill threat
Bile Titans are wild
Autocannon being able to turn anything the bots have to jam really makes it the god weapon once you know the hit locations and are confident without the personal shield
They just inexplicably survive all kinds of shit
It's actually harder to George a Hulk with the Railgun than it is to just kill them.
I don't understand Biles. I've done the one shot railgun kill, I know it's possible

And then I've had so fucking many survive all kinds of Railgun shots too the skull etc
500kg underneath them seems the most reliable
The grenade launcher is better at mulching groups of scout walkers, infantry and devastators than the autocannon, especially when they drop in tight balls, but it's much worse at hulks and tanks and doesn't have absurd building snipe range
I can see meta bot teams being one GL with supply pack and three autocannons
Supply pack is 100% slept on
not that the AC really needs it
Esp since picking up supplies with it reloads everything as normal and gives you extra charges in the pack
And at one point when I ate a pack I had 7/6 grenades, which was a thing

I think the Railgun is way more consistent for Hulks, so it has a place on a bot team, but the AC is definitely a swiss army knife there

My favourite is abusing the piercing of the Railgun to send it through multiple enemies and still kill the Hulk

It's so satisfying when you shoot a devastator in the face and get the 3x skull
i think someone has described why hulks are so much better/fun to deal with than chargers as hulks having more "interactability" and i think that explains it a ton
with a hulk you can hit the head, break off the arms, or hit the heat vents
with a wide variety of weapons
Do operations you've partially completed stay active if you exit the game?
with the charger you either hit the leg or you hit the ass, very little interactability

There's also weaker armor at the bottom and the side plates but those are very hard to interact with
The back legs open up to normal weapons after they crash into a obstacle, but that's very non obvious with chargers
I still haven't got the achievement for killing a charger with the resupply pod, apparently a clean headshot doesn't do it
which means you need to damage a charger, presumably with a few railguns, then get it wedged somewhere

My friend runs supply pack and railgun and you can press 5 to reload the railgun ammo from your pack and be an armor destroying monster

Someone in the discord said they got a mech drop, idk if they're lying or if the GM pitied them or if it was a hack or what but its interesting (they are lying nothing ever happens)

the HMG emplacement actually kind of rocks if you use it wisely
it seems super situational because of how slow it turns
it also can just directly shoot objectives like bot AA guns/mortars to blow them up
like probably shines defending an extraction with good choke points
if you look for good spots you can often find decent places to put it out in the field for mowing down a patrol or into a base
it's certainly a situational thing and you gotta go out of your way to use it to full value tho

my group and I successfully did a diff 6 evac the day before yesterday with that. But if you just try to hold the middle the highest diff we've managed is 4

The big ones with the vents on the back?
Hitting that vent with a primary or sidearm does huge damage
alternatively, for support weapons, the disposable anti-tank is good as long as you hit with it and reloads quickly
Railgun and AMR are strong too, though you need to aim more with AMR
I think hulk vents might still have some armor although I could be wrong

I just keep an orbital railgun in my pocket for tanks
I steal Hades Autocanon after they DC and shoot them in the back.
I think Precision Strike is safe enough for me given how slow they are, but Railcannon is definitely a good pick for just deleting some problem armor enemy without having to think about it too much.
Plus it auto aims so I can hide behind a rock and limply throw a ball roughly in their direction and it'll focus them
one I do wonder is the rocket plane
Like it says they target at the strongest person in the area but I don't know if it actually does anything because it just seems to bomb immediately where I threw it
For the bot tanks? 10/10, I don't think I've ever had it not kill them first shot
Against other armour, I've had mixed to poor results
It's not as generous with its targeting as Railcannon, but it's still enough that you don't need to be exactly precise with the beacon, just get it close.
Other armor, yeah it is fiddly because they tend to be moving too fast (Chargers running, Hulks trundling around especially the faster ones, also Hulks are relatively small targets)
i actually struggle against hulks most
impacts do not hurt them from the front and hitting them in the back is just luck
Really requires teamwork to have one person run off in a direction that exposes their back to a friend.

Railgun, autocannon, and AMR can all kill it with hits to the eye.
Railgun is great for taking them out at range.
The railgun even does decent chunks if you hit the arms and such
If it can turn around and shoot you the railgun is less good.
Aim for the joints, it's amazing at disarming (hah) bots. Especially if you aim for the waistlines of devastators, it instakills them.
You do about the same amount of damage with the RG hitting them in the back or front it feels like.
If you charge the railgun in one shots devs pretty much anywhere around the torso or head. Including through a shield.
I can't be bothered to focus on overcharging it tbh.

My habit is to hold charge and aim for the right weakspot, so I never practice with overcharged shots.

I tend to be bad at locating samples that aren't around human built places. I so easily lose the ones near bug nests

eagle strikes are fast and low cooldown but they have limited uses before needing to rearm
The N/A cooldown sort of confused me
And I haven't even attempted to try and find stuff in bot missions

I mostly just realize where the bot stuff tends to spawn and know to check those areas when wandering around

One thing to note for having multiple plane drops on the same mission, when rearming it will rearm all of them
Ye it also means until you rearm all then you're empty eagles won't recharge
So if you have a 500kg and smoke drops it won't rearm your 500kg until you've either dropped all your smoke or you rearm manually
Slight advantage of of orbitals is cooldown independent of each other effectively
I still like eagles more
The 500kg is great for closing everything, but it's a lot longer to recharge than others
If you only have the 500kg is it just the standard like 2 minute rearm?
I tend to try and have one orbital and one eagle, a support weapon and either a backpack or a decent turret to drop

Yup with throw range armor I've gotten good at destroying small and medium nests before anyone can get close
Honestly it might be worth replacing the eagle airstrike with a regular orbital shot because it recharges so much faster than all the others
Usually a single walking orbital can take out a medium nest or fabricator I've come to love it

iirc, there's invisbiel walls so you cant land in some areas
I don't have specific examples but I've definitely had my pod forced in one direction while falling before, not just "you can't maneuver this way" but more like if I had been holding DOWN+LEFT the whole time.

impact grenade is my goto honestly. impact is my goto for a lot of situations now.

Yeah those are pretty good but being able to just hit them all with a dozen burning shells is pretty goated

esp before they start rolling out balance patches
It’s fucked up it seems to do nearly as much damage including the dot and has an extra 10 shells per mag
“Downside” is that it has to burst fire so you can’t waste them all as easily
okay that extra 10 shells per mag is damn near an advertisement to use it over the base on its own

My ballistic shield takes so many rounds
Reminding your stratagem keys so you can WASD walk while using arrow keys to ⬆️ ⬇️ ⬅️ ➡️ is huge
Genuinely a difference of life or death, success or failure
You can trundle towards the objective while keying and throwing the reinforcement beacon to summon the next trooper to walk and call you back down, taking turns
so what you're saying that I should rebind them to arrow keys and then get an extra arrow pad so I can type in the keys with my toes
so both of my hands are free
You could do that, though you do need to also rebind CTRL to the toe pad too
DDR dance pad for calling stratagems

As it is right now on default controls on PC you can't walk forward and punch in strats
And if you have ⬇️ in the inputs you use a supply from your backpack
My backpack supply useage has been abysmal because of it

I am an eagle stratagem stan. Rocketpods and 500k > laser
The rocketpods are so good. They've saved my life against tanks and those terrifying cannon turrets. Pop fabs and arty pretty good as well.

For anti-armor, the AMR, EATs and Autocannon all do plenty of work.
Oh yeah, the AMR hits pretty high above its weight. I think it'll kill most Bot stuff if you hit the heat vents?

AMR can kill hulks from the front if you nail the red line
Note that the default AMR zoom is a weird zero so your bullets can be above your crosshair.
I have only seen 2 hulks
The first I defeated with the managed democracy of the AMR at max zoom
The second I was upholding democracy by leaving on the evacuation shuttle so I can go do another important objective instead of wasting time with the 2nd hulk

Ever since learning that devastator waists are just as vulnerable to railguns as their heads I've been relentlessly cutting them in half from afar.

The exception being heavy devastators who wisely shield their waists while facing you. They get headshots or at worst two shoulder shots.

Except their cloak is so visible, I almost always see them from so far off. But they do scare me pretty badly solely because of the fact that they sprint straight at you
Yeah honestly at times their cloak makes them easier to see in dust/spore clouds
stalker nests become incredibly high priority on higher difficulties because their spawn rate really cranks up
I've seen 12-16 stalkers attacking almost simultaneously

Stalkers are interesting because by itself the cloak is useless.
But you throw in a bile titan, chargers, spitter artillery, and a couple warriors for taste all of a sudden that cloak becomes very good at it's job.
A lot of the stalkers threat is their behavior

basic airstrike is good, because it's able to bother top-tier enemies like hulks, chargers, bile titans, and tanks, break buildings/bug holes, and is more forgiving than the 500kg with it's line of damage
And they're always available (™️)
Rocket pods are decent when you get access to them, they crack charger armor and take out tanks.

it's just very unlikely
the extra strikes module is the best "more strikes per unit time" module available in the game
it is at minimum 25% more strikes and at best 100% more strikes

500kg bomb x2 is the good stuff for bile titans
just pull aggro, drop the beacon just in front of it and then move up to bait the bile attack, which will keep it still long enough
Turret Ammo increase is fairly impactful, especially on the mortars

Ton of flash, small boom, deceptively long call in due to the bomb needing to actually land

Yeah, 500kg being wonky is why I prefer the missile pods for heavies. At least I have two (un upgraded) in case it goes wrong. Maybe with the upgrade the 500kg would be more worthwhile, but it just doesn’t feel right
The fact the missiles can be dropped at your feet and they will selectively target the bigguns are nice
I guess the 500kg is when you want something that does a little bit of everything, but even bigger

I quite like the scorcher for solo because you can dodge and shoot a charger in the abdomen and it will die within a mag or two
mostly cause I don't trust myself to aim well enough at close range
or else you can just EMS strike it and leisurely walk behind

four grenades from the GL pop the abdomen but it's a tricky shot, two impact grenades under the front legs is a clean kill and quite easy to line up
i got a flamethrower.. thats the most that could do some damage to it.. usually someone else has the explosive equipment so i try not to double stack that stuff

Eagle and Sentry modules offer the highest bang for your buck, I think
I want to see how much steering the steering upgrade provides

The difference between unupgraded and fully upgraded sentries is night and day, especially for the Autocannon and Gatling

i keep hearing people say the oribtal 120/380MM is trash what's up with that
They've got kind of a large area spread, especially the 380mm
120mm seems nice for medium bases though, although i prefere walking barrage
Which of the level 8 and under stratagems are worth getting
A single walking barrage can clear a medium fabricator/nest easily and it's more predictable so you can move up while it's ongoing

380mms are highly rng and prone to BF out of nowhere, even if you think you're standing in a safe spot
1-3 is only common samples
4-6 is common + rare samples
7-9 is all three samples (giving 3/5/6 supers per mission)
they have such a colossal range and basically 0 probability to hit anything useful
They both have the same basic problem of "huge spread, small AoE"
They need massive target saturation to hit anything useful over the duration

I would love the 120mm if it was more true to the description and had a tighter area
And the 380mm should have like, double the explosion radius per shell

Yeah as-is with the 120mm/380mm you essentially are just choosing to cause lots of screen shake to potentially zero if not fratricidal effect.
Just far less time consuming to use literally any other stratagem so you actually hit the thing you want to hit.

I like solo runs but I think I'm good for the week LOL
I decided to rebind my stratagem keys to the arrow keys. One one hand, I can now move and call in orbital strikes and CAS at the same time. On the other, I sometimes hit the side of my LMB when I go to grab my mouse to aim said strikes and accidentally call hellfire down directly onto my position.
Walking lasts like 8 seconds which feels like a long time in a game but you can basically just throw it at a base and walk away
That's what I want but bigger for 380mm
By the time the 380mm finishes I expect nothing to almost nothing alive

If you care more about swarms, mortar/gatling is good
they don't track chargers very well and don't really do much to bile titan
against bots they will fairly consistently oneshot tanks and turrets

I think 110s are a tad buggy because they occasionally miss stationary targets for no reason - but they usually do land unless the target is going At Speed, like a charger charging someone
In which case you wait for them to come to a halt first
They haven't missed the chargers for me, my gripe with them is more the fact that they don't 100% kill it, but put it into the limping state.
My tip to is not use it like a normal Eagle strike, aim it closer to yourself. The rockets rarely kill me instead.

Tanks are marginally less dangerous than Biles because you can kill them on a flank very easily, or one shot them with a basic Eagle Airstrike
And they don't have the range of vision they do either
Meanwhile Biles just feel fucking unkillable without someone who knows the Railgun timing to one shot it, or long CD ordnance
I still cannot get the timing down on the railgun

Well. Got a surprise bile titan on a Veld extraction. Rocket pods do damage it, but it needed some more auto cannon and arc thrower shots to actually kill

Bugs you really want speed to kite back away from hordes
The Battlefield 2 Dark Trooper build is a lot of fun against bugs. Arc thrower and jump pack to put maneuver and zap hordes
I think with bots I'm gonna keep the amr and bugs I bring the railgun
railgun does well on bugs
Once armour gets fixed I think you can def get away with wearing heavy, but until then you just want to spec for speed
still want hesh rounds for the autocannon

the revolver is pretty alright on everything is you can make up for the reload
Lightest armour you can get, either an SMG to kite or the Breaker for heavy duty killing, a Guard Dog Rover for a backpack if you're running a non-backpack support weapon, the best of which are probably the GL, Machine Gun or Arc Thrower, otherwise an Autocannon will serve you in good stead
