i have not been able clear tempered jin due to people just dying constantly, most of the time they get frozen and the combod
I kinda want to tr a spread HBG build now
It's very powerful
take advantage of ballistics and you can blast at point blank
I prefer pierce
Steve HBG is also maybe the only thing that actually makes spread recoil in this game usable 😔
I play pierce on LBG
I've only really played World, but Wyvernsnipe works wonders
World is fun for the Legiana pierce 1-3 low recoil fast reload
I'm on the rey dau rapid-fire pierce lbg grind
Fucking hilarious mistake if true
omg i opened this earlier but forgot to finish reading, let's see
It seems convincingly verified, I'm eager to test the mod once it's released
oh my.
holy molyyy
so that might be why some people got worse experience as patches went on...?
#fight-club message
i really hope this is true 🙏
oh my god
yeah, right? 😭
It would also explain why it got pass the devs, since dve builds would likely have all the DLC by default for QnA testing at least
Making games! It's really hard!
yeah I can't imagine
I often write some code and forget about it in tiny little projects, I can't imagine trying to debug something on this kind of scale
Replaying World rn, trying to get black belt coins for some armor
Great fuckin idea not giving any energy drinks for nightshade paolumu's arena quest, Capcom, stunning display of thinking
I want it for fashion
I think I have discovered that I am possessed of the sauce with the fast weapons
longsword, dual blades, and insect glaive in particular are uh
coming quite naturally in a very fun way
What game?
wilds
as soon as I realized perfect dodges activated archdemon on dual blades uth duna became my bitch
I've always wanted to run Insect Glaive but I already struggle with the technicalities of, like... the Greatsword.
I could not be assed to micromanage bug juice
lmao, very fair
I am very much good at longsword, dual blades, and insect glaive in that order
I've picked up longsword lately, learning the timing for counters is tricky but the greatsword's offset attacks helped me train my mind for it a bit.
I don't think I'd turn out any good at gs
my only good 'heavy' is good ol HH
Which, if I may say so
I was fucking goated
GS is so fun
but!
my big flaw with Wilds...
is that there is no punishment on GS for just spamming offset attacks.
You can unsheathe into an offset, any move can be followed up by an offset. The only restriction is you can't offset directly out of another offset, but it's not harsh enough.
maybe this is just a me problem but it's way too easy to spam offset attacks with GS specifically and get rewarded, even against larger monsters.
Hammer's offset, for reference, requires a lil more setup to get into than GS.
offset is your charge stance right?
it is a charge stance
off-set is just the word for "big, high-commitment slaps that stagger a monster if one of its hitboxes collides with it"
Capcom should've never let me use a Greatsword with a counter. Now I am become John Monsterhunter, the hunter of monsters.
you are given i-frames if your offset hits
in theory, this is good, GS struggles with movement a bit so giving them the choice to stand their ground is a fun notion...
in practice, though, an issue comes up
Offset attacks are high-commitment, so on other weapons, you have to time shit pretty well to make the offset worth it. If you miss the timing, you'll be sitting around like a dumbass for a little bit after the whiff...
but that's just how greatsword plays already!
The only real cost of the offset attack for greatsworders is that you're not working toward your True Charge Slash in that moment...
except if the offset attack lands, you can instantly go into a TCS regardless of what you were doing beforehand!
and because there's no cost to using it, you may as well spam offsets at every opportunity, especially because sometimes it'll fully stagger the monster while setting you up for your highest-damage move.
other counters have some sort of cost. Longsword has the spirit gauge, hbg has an offset that is really compromising and can only be used up-close, Lances trade damage potential for counters and survivability...
but GS has almost seen a shift in optimal playstyle, in a way. Before, you'd interrupt charges with tackles to get to TCS a little faster. Now, it's almost like GS is... a counter-attack weapon.
From that perspective, it's actually kinda cool, now that I think about it...
You're not required to learn how to use the offsets if you prefer base greatsword plays, but there are huge rewards for those who are willing to stand their ground against a monster and just keep swinging...
I think I talked myself into liking it, actually.
lmao nice
Believe it or not, that happened before wilds!
looks at raging slash and strongarm stance
Wilds GS is great fun though
Also
Found out you can guard against a lot of the continuous beams in wilds, and even Gog's nova?
oh yeahhhhh
5 Views - Watch i paid 70 dollars to block by dannyquil and millions of other Monster Hunter Wilds videos on Medal. #monsterhunterwilds
found out by accident
my tiny little shield protecting me against the world -w-
...Jesus Christ I forgot how anemic World's longsword feels
One downward swing should not be taking this long to perform
World Longsword is anemic?
maybe after rise and wilds 😭 I don't think it's objectively too slow
Wilds LS feels
about the same barring the new tech when your spirit gauge is fully leveled?
🙏
mhm, and the ISS being the rise version (+1 level on counter, 0 on whiff)
I should get into a melee weapon
it also feels like spirit meter is a lot less strict ime; the full combo feels like it costs about 75% instead of 90-95% now, along with the hold for roundslash charge
Fade Slash gives about 50%? instead of maybe 30%, which is a crazy change that helps to keep up with the pace of the game and the cycle of building and dumping meter
Issue being, CB is the one that appeals the most
ohhh, and the directional Spirit Slashes (which I greatly dislike)
I'm not the hugest fan of Wilds LS :( it feels too fluid to the point that I feel clumsy using it because I'm too used to GU and 5th gen
go for it!
take it slow, use it on some easy monsters first and put your moveset together a bit at a time
you don't need to (and probably shouldn't) use every move at the start
Be aware that SAED spam is noticeably worse instead of being roughly equal to Savage Axe in Wilds
But don't let that ruin your fun like it has mine
I feel bad that my main reaction to it vs World LS is 'oh cool I feel pretty fuckin sauced now'
<xD
Moves are kind of like if bullets had combos 🙂↕️
hey so
longsword, right
is it even a sword?
or is it long enough to count as a polearm?
Well
Several varieties of sword irl blurred that line while clearly still being swords
So
Both!
XD
Also uh
Holy fuck Hammer is fun
Me When I Fucking Beat You To Death
Sword, yeh
Irl greatswords are about the length of a Monster Hunter longsword actually
You're not entirely wrong though, irl greatswords are used sort of more similarly to polearms than swords
Zweihanders in particular
Zoh Shia crashed my fucking game lmao
Too much Wylk
I think the most fascinating thing about Wilds' performance for me is that I've only ever crashed on quest completion
I don’t get the whole performance thingy
I’ve never had any issues with performance
Game runs smooth as butter
Except when my pc overheated once during a rey dau fight but that’s an exception
The problem is basically that hardware that should theoretically be able to support it completely fine can't because they made very fundamental mistakes in implementation and optimization
and the diminishing returns diminish far more rapidly than with most other games
and even then, that "smooth as butter" experience is almost guaranteed to be thanks to either frame gen or upscaling, because the game can't take proper advantage of powerful hardware, and handles resources super inefficiently, and any rig that's hitting a locked 60 fps at maximum settings (or even optimized settings bc the difference isn't much more than a few frames on the high end) likely cost upwards of $2500
I don’t have frame gen on my graphics card or on the game
I have 100-120ish fps on max graphics I think
What kind of GPU?
5070 ti
Yeah that'll fuckin do it
Roblox runs worse than mh wilds sometimes which I find funny
lmao
but yeah uhh. you're in the "really good hardware tanking terrible optimization" category
Ahhh
and if the game was "fixed" you'd probably be getting closer to double that
if you count having an excellent and expensive graphics card lucky
I just remembered that my old laptop was barely able to run mh world with like 30fps
And that one was more Optimised I think
Or is that an issue across mh titles in general
it is and it isn't
it's kind of hard to judge the performance of most of the games in the franchise since they were in a situation of "they're on hardware comparable to a PS2 and they run playably"
World was rough on release, but not to the same magnitude as Wilds
I think Rise was briefly rough on the Switch but not long enough to get a reputation for it, and then the PC port was actually excellent
which mainly has to do with it benefitting from smarter development in general
Ah
Wilds also has a ton of CPU optimization issues, which is an issue when most games don't and the most popular cost-saving measure for building a gaming rig is to shoot for a CPU that's just good enough to avoid bottlenecking your GPU when it's maxed out
but it's a lot harder to talk about and quantify "the math the game is forcing your computer to do on the fly every single time it draws a frame"
well. not harder to quantify. since it's math. just more complicated to make it understandable in a way people can casually talk about
but tldr they did a bunch of shit really inefficiently and it makes the game perform very badly on the hardware most people own, but fortunately people are identifying a lot of it and pointing out ways to solve it
Was wilds also released on consoles and thanks for explaining it all
Yeah
Part of the problem is that it was developed for consoles first
porting a game that was developed for consoles to PC can be more complicated for a whole number of reasons, but a lot of the mistakes they made also hurt console performance
but that's even more complicated and I'm way too tired to be confident that I'll explain it even slightly well
i love lance, just get to nuh un monster attacks
also ran a build without shockproof for the first time and im feeling it, had a dual blades user on me and it made it so i couldn't attack
flitch is a pain
So when I get to High Rank, do I gotta unlock all the different HR monster quests one at a time or am I gonna be able to just
Hunt HR Uth Duna after the credits roll?
there's a HR story progression too
...i don't remember if HR monsters start popping up on the map right away or not, though
i think the main thing is unlocking tempered monsters, and the monsters that are in HR only
My current drip is just monsters I already have access to so I just wanna hunt them
First I have to kill Zoh without
A CTD
The most powerful monster
capable of directly attacking my GPU
waow
Baby...
Could I perhaps request a little help with Monster Hunter World's Zinogre arena quest?
The MR one that has a weirdly good longsword set
Only managed to solo it once so far
interesting
i haven't tried any of the preset arena quests yet, but I'm down to try tonight or tmrw depending on installation status
Thank you Este, I appreciate it

we know the person who commissioned this
[Reply to:](#1164963928531533855 message) https://bsky.app/profile/kaerura.bsky.social/post/3mckoh4zykk2j 📎
wish we had the money like that
must feel nice
what times might work for you tomorrow? got started on the installation, I'll probably be available mid-late afternoon (EST) at the earliest, more likely in the evening
okay here what i learn about in 2 weeks of getting back in the game
HBG and SA are a bit too clunky to my taste, keep them as back up to the CB+LBG set up
The akuma set is really fun and i will mesatsu all the monsters
I am trying to make a poison build
Mizu longsword and pants acquired 😌
i havent done the omega fight yet but i have heard horror stories
i should really play it
Be aware it does not scale down so you either need to be VERY good with amazing gear, use the NPC Hunters, or play MP
omega is real funny
it's also designed around the assumption that you're going to have someone tanking and someone healing the way that the game is nudging you to do
fortunately the support hunters are actually pretty decent at this
Lagi weapons are also p good for Omega if you build for thunder resistance
gog is beating me up
tried it 3 times but lost in p3 each time 😔
granted the tv I was using felt a little latent, but still feels bad :(
P3 can be pretty rough
are you wiping to the nova, or are you just getting carted by its regular attacks?
regular attacks, we were meeting the dps checks
i have to dive the big slam more instead of thinking I can roll out, because it has some aoe around the body and arms
also got a bit greedy shooting the guns
ahhhh yeah
tbh my strategy with the big slam has been mostly "don't be standing there to begin with"
it's a very positioning-aware fight
did that a couple of times 😌
I ended up having 6 winter fest tickets so I can make a majority of the armour, which is good since there were only a couple more pieces I was looking at
I like the type 1 armour but the fluffy cape isn’t always the best vibe
i just discovered that SA has parries
yeah i’ve got to play around with offsets more
I’ll see what changes the steam patch brings, it’s tough to do timing stuff on my rig
i’ve never been this scared to do Iai Spirit Slash before
Has anyone here played Gen Ultimate?
Will my hands hurt if I play it on a switch? <XD
hmm, assuming you mean handheld, it was a little uncomfortable for me but not horrible, especially compared to sunbreak’s demo
I don’t think it’s too bad given that the combat isn’t too fast >.>
have you played other games in handheld mode?
I tried 4U on 3DS
and
ow
<XD
But yes I've completed both BotW and TotK in handheld (it's a Switch light and thus my only option lol)
the original base game (...and the version of it we never got in english) was built for the 3ds, so it's perfectly fine on handheld mode on a switch
...assuming regular gameplay on a switch hasn't caused major issues before
^^
having played GenU on Switch and 4U on 3DS, GenU feels a lot easier to handle
much more like your standard analog stick setup
I'm so used to The Claw™ that I still reflexively resort to it even while using an Xbox controller on PC
If you have two analog sticks, you'll be fine
the little pseudo-c-stick thing by the face buttons saved lives
THAT'S A FUCKING C STICK????
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
old MH titles were demanding in every way compared to newtypes
Sometimes I think about aiming bowguns with that and it still hurts
it was, still much better than having to claw
I may stick to World, Wilds, and then get Rise instead...
it's easiear to make a palico that look like my dog than a palico that look like my brother cat
Sorry for not responding, had to work a long shift. Any time after like 6ish works for me, what works for you?
npnp
I have other plans for today and tomorrow sadly, and will be getting quite busy this week 😔 sorry about that
Started Rise
any way to display the action commands in game?
really liked that in World
That's it, we think we're gonna be a Longsword weeb in rise
Once you get armor with rapid morph, give the Swaxe a try in Rise
It's the best it's ever been and it feels so fluid and flashy
lmao same, i had no idea why my game kept saying Circle Pad Pro was activated and then i found out about the Nub(TM)
again, would like to strongly emphasize that GenU is in no way as painful to control as the 3DS titles, and will feel pretty intuitive and comfortable to you if you're at all used to using the Switch joycons. do not let the horrors of 3U and 4U controls put you off from experiencing a quite fantastic MH game
lolol
which is not to say that Rise is not also worth playing
this might be a spicy take for this thread, but: MonHun games are good
not really joycons as such since it's a Switch Light but I've played Zelda on it
yeah, i tend to think of it as a capstone celebration of the entire franchise pre-world
not to mention the style and hunter arts system means that playstyle customization is positively absurd
so it's a very meaty game
WHAT
😠
yeah GU has a lot, it's really nice to have as a side game or you can dig into it full speed (but beware of burnout!)
I looked at the styles and i think aerial longsword is my vibe
I think I'm gonna play GU
seeing as two of my faves were introduced in it
@bleak halo Mizutsune and Gammoth are two favorites of mine
Though admittedly Gammoth is a fixation because she is a rare mammalian monster that isn't also a monkey
But, for now
Wilds remains my focus
it's kinda fun to wander between MH games, honestly
i've still got a foot in the Wilds endgame loop, but i'm also slowly playing through 4U
i also need to actually finish Iceborne at some point
we hate doing shara ishvalda ngl
cause you just get dropped into the fight instead of camp
even on subsequent runs
but there's still supply items at camp
very bruhw
I'm... vaguely in the endgame loop of World
But I got Wilds literally a week ago
Also Capcom please add Bazel in a title update I beg of you
I need my Rooksearer again
spin2win

sadly I'm having trouble emulating 4U on my laptop, so that'll have to wait for a bit
otherwise I've been on a bit of an MH break
Still getting used to rise's weight
It feels floatier and heavier at the same time
Somehow
Arzaros was fun, grabbed its LS and some of the armor
Next up gotta fight Great Baggi and Lagombi
Not all bad memories, Glavenus is a tough monster that was satisfying to fight
Just not farm because of that stupid plate that refused to drop
Lol
I would like to play some more MH, but my laptop doesn't have too much storage and I'm playing Lies of P atm 😅
dunno if I'd play World or Rise once I get into it again 🤔
Should I do GU on switch or emulate it?
We named our Palmute "Garu"
doggee
I've never tried switch emulation, so I can't really say
I did find it fine on switch tho
Holy shit the Drifter from D2 is one of the Wilds Hunter voices
"Alright, alright, alright, let's see what we've got. Glavenus! Bring a sword!"
Those Pukei Pukei scales can make a fine deoderant, Transmat Firing!
I have realised I need a crossover
fuckin lmao
Does Xu Wu spawn in High Rank normally or does a Quest trigger it?
Welp
Found the quest l m a o
'Huh I wonder if Tasheen's quest is it'
Tasheen; 'YO ONE OF US GOT FUCKING KIDNAPPED BY XU WU.'
'Oh.'
'Convenient~'
HR Dahaad can eat my dick holy FUCK
I have just discovered what the smelter in Azuz does and I'm gonna cry from joy
Oh my God
armor spheres be upon ye!
I love it so much
There's also an event quest running that gives a good amount of armor spheres as rewards
a regular lagiacrus and a tempered rathalos, I've been consistently getting through it in under 8 minutes with randos, 6 if everyone is locked in
the other Optimal Armor Spheres Method™ is to grind Arkveld investigations with guaranteed gems and then pulp them en masse in Azuz
Wait untill you see the arch tempered version
Guess what I am never fighting lmao
Coming up with my go-to build
ebony odo helm and coil, mizu chest, gauntlets, and legs
and mizu longsword of course
What's the perk that prevents you smacking people?
its both ways too, didnt take it on my lance build and got smaked around
anyone down to play some wilds some time ?
I wish I could but my operating system doesn't play nice with my graphics card
I need to get off my ass and get it changed at some point
I just rolled a charm with Speed Sharpening, Handicraft, and Weakness Exploit, AMA
Hell yeah
I have a Protective Polish 2 charm which would be nice since my Gog LS has about 15 hits of white
but it’s tough to get wex 5 with it
unless i take a different set ig
trying to play with gore atm, so honestly I could drop 1 or 2 levels of wex
oh WOW i didn’t realize blue to white was 1.2 to 1.32
10%
it might be worth it lmao
The current build has full Focus, Burst, Evade Window and Extender, and Quick Sheathe
Then the Ebony Odo and Mizu set bonuses (the minor ones but still L M A O)
It Is I, The Longsword Enjoyer
Evade Extender applies to all the longsword sidestep attacks btw
It's
Pretty fucking egregious, actually? <XD
which ones? (other than foresight slash)
ohh extender, not window
it affects fade slashes?
Those could be some good pants to do a jack-o cosplay perhaps
lmao
spong
How does it feel being the game's favorite?
Well, soloing a Zinogre with massively bloated HP three times in a row sucked, but at least I have Kewl Fashion
Pieces are MR Lunastra Alpha helmet and coil, HR Kulve Taroth Alpha gauntlets and leggings, and the Guild Palace Alpha chestpiece
we have a few more key quests in 3 star so it's gonna be Ludroth/Baggi/Barroth
[Reply to:](#1164963928531533855 message) spong 📎
After the key quest we're gonna look into upgrading our stuff
the desire sensor smileth
It fucking gave me two as well lmao
watches video on teostra and lunastra
"yo by the way their wing dander that they ignite would function as thermobaric weapons irl"
It's because the first stage of a thermobaric weapon is spreading aerosolized fuel in the air with a small blast (in this case substituted by the wings) that then is more readily able to ignite the oxygen in the air
leading to both a much more intense pressure wave and higher temperature, followed by a massive pressure differential (created by the atmospheric oxygen being used as the oxidator rather than an onboard one) rapidly appearing and then collapsing
This attack wouldn't even cause career-ending injuries by burning people, the pressures created can collapse lungs or burst eardrums
Cool, cool
<XD
Go kill it with a stifck
Knowing what I know I'm surprised you expect me to get near one
XD
also you gotta wonder
what the fuck are teostra and lunastra tusks made from to serve as flint?
I mean then they'd be awful teeth
If they're actual chert we'd see them break all the time
Though I suppose they might be one of those bastards who always grow teeth and the gnashing evolved from a maintenance behavior
I have an alternate and somehow more gonzo theory
Their tooth enamel isn't calcium phosphate, but magnesium phosphide
Oooh
Though that material may be too reactive...
considering it can light on fire on contact with air or water
Not of necessity
Teostra and Lunastra do both salivate
Ah, I see
I think your theory wins lmao
Also God I want the Lagiacrus longsword so bad but I gotta do other missions first
Hell yeah, can't remember how experienced you are with horn but if you've got any questions lmk!
I'm fairly experienced with World Horn
Mostly figuring out what armor to use
Thinking a combination of Foray and Agitator for the build
I think the only counter that doesn't hit like 'gamechanging' is Insect Glaive 'cause it's a bit jank to pull off
It's still a great move but it's sort of the cherry on top
Swaxe just being able to uppercut through anything has been wild
SA's fun but i feel like i'm carting way more than with the CB
no guarding we die like fruit flies
It's also worth trying out Evade Extender 2, which is extremely comfortable for SA in general
Pity upon the shieldless..
Oh wait do I have the clip?
I have the clip! (TU4 spoilers?)
anyone down to play some wilds ?
Max evade extender + 2-3 ranks of Evade Window make swaxe much more comfy for me
Run a bit of Adrenaline Rush while you're at it
do you want to run counterstrike on an offset-heavy weapon?
pretty sure its more of a shield thing
Switch axe gets a parry in wilds?
[Reply to:](#1164963928531533855 message) I just need to learn how to parry then
counter stance, yea
Huh, neat
Seregios HBG or LBG ?
fast or slow ?
on oone hand one do more damage and has more dakka. But the quick evade of the LBG are better with the free shot passif

dug through some old clips
seeing that mizu animation so many times in GU let me nail that bonk 😌
Counter stance in sword mode and offset attack in axe mode
Most Hinged™ Wishlist
Okay I know this is an extremely inefficient use of meter but it was all I could think of in the moment
I just evaded three Rey lightning bolts with red meter foresight slashes in a row
and then killed it with my next combo
Felt like fucking Sekiro
Hit those SA counter is pure cinema
Wahoo
Anyone down to play some wilds ?
dinking about a bit in World, i wound up at this fit accidentally but i kind of like it
what chestpiece is that?
shrieking legi I think?
Also
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Lagiacrus is so fuckin annoying
yeah it's the shrieking legiana chest/waist and barioth arms/legs

rathian longsword
Tho admittedly with a shit build
Mizu longsword unironically might go smoother what with the set bonus it has
wilds outsold codblops7 🥴
the same ranking by copies sold would be interesting to see
anyone down to play some wilds ?
am only on 4 Star stuff rn
Just fought Rathian and will be looking to upgrade all of my gear at 5 Star
So for character names
Hunter: Alerae
Palmute: Garu
Palico: Mitsue
you're more inventive than me
all my hunters names are just my government name spelled with a Z rather than an S
did you get to omega
Bawh, I liked Omega. Savage is a bit of a jerkass though
i'm kind of split on Omega
conceptually, i think it's a really cleverly designed fight in the way that it takes the idioms of MMO combat and translates them into something that works in the framework of Monster Hunter gameplay while still being recognizable
practically, you of course run into the question of "is the playerbase actually going to bother with all of this or are they just going to flail at the fight and then get mad when they cart"
granted you do have support hunters as an option, and a thankfully good one
Uno said something recently to the effect of "i think people don't like hunts that have mechanics" and i think that he might have put his finger on something there
See, makes me glad I don't play with random folks. I love mechanics. Gimme a big laser to plug in, gimme a specific part to batter, idk
YAY RISE
ngl yeah
I Am People
I Did Not Come To MonHun For Raid Mechanics
:0
Plate though!
Uhh
As with every Rise player I am happy to play with anyone who wants
I can probably throw together an HR set if you want to stay balanced
I don't think I got rid of all my progression gear..
I am a W/W Girlie sadly 😔
What do u need so many for
rathian lbg, hbg, longsword, hunting horn, and rath dual blades
Anyone wanna hunt Tempered Mizutsune?
For the drip?
And builds!
Our first cart in rise goes to Volvadon
Of course it was capturable at that moment
like every faint is
best we can do for selfies
don't know how to hid the UI
now that we have Volvadon gear we can swap to a Swaxe
and it comes full circle
Holy crap even one level makes it fast
it's wierd that we once thought Tobi-Kodachi was hard
granted we were new to World back then but still
oh heck we should be slaying instead of capturing
well....... we found their god. She's right here, and fresh out of mercy
we keep capturing monsters
apparently rare drops can come easier on slays
or at least that's what we're looking at
(for rise)
we may be wrong
I think it depends on the monster iirc
But I've never really bothered capping and I got everything I needed
capture and carve just have individually defined tables, under normal conditions you get 3 carves and 2 rewards for capturing specifically (for a quest, you also get quest rewards)
which is better depends on the individual monster's tables and what you're looking for
(apparently world worked differently!)
Where Capturing in Rise is concerned, you lose out on one reward "slot" because you roll 2 quest rewards instead of taking 3 carves, but rare rewards are more likely within the drop table. However, monsters tend to have at least one drop option that is not included in the Capture table at all, meaning it can only ever be carved.
Rise also de-obfuscates all drop rates in the hunter notes, which imo is the single most powerful addition they've ever made to any game in the franchise
From what I remember, World and Wilds make the rewards completely identical. There is fundamentally no reward difference between capture rewards and carve rewards.
But (in Wilds) you can eat for a skill that boosts one or the other preferentially, and capping is still faster
Personally I prefer Rise's method, but I wish the games would both use and call direct attention to differing drop rates, so players know that they have two different tools to get what they want, rather than relying exclusively on investigations to bend the odds
It's so much more enjoyable imo to get into the rhythm of capturing monsters by the dozen to hunt for that otherwise 1% drop
apparently you cannot get rewards that require part breaks (or full severs in the case of tails or cephalopod arms) from captures in the quest rewards, whereas if you kill you can
oop
in Wilds
So yeah no not cutting the tail and getting a tail anyway in capture
You need to cut that shit off
Or submit yourself to killing it and getting the diceroll
Killing also gives you more time to dismantle the monster :)
Also this is embarrassing I literally always run Partbreaker
Oh I'm not serious
just "lol I literally run partbreaker because I love breaking parts, but I forgot how part break rewards work"
My build advice I've received, as a main for a weapon whose whole existence is tail cuts ("Hi I'm Longsword Main and I'm an anime addict" "Hello Longsword Main"), is to run fuckin partbreaker lmao
And in my weapon's specific case shock absorber
good advice
my ass just vibing with blastmaxxed partbreaker switch axe, begging them to bring back axe mode's partbreak bonus
WHICH I STILL HAVEN'T GOTTEN TO DROP YOU FUCKIN ASSHOLE MELDER AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Cannot fuckin believe one of the endgame story hunter rank cutoffs is 69 lmao
Magnificent, Capcom
Oh I'm dumb I had just a bit of the bar left
Okay so
I just figured out what Focus Strikes are
What the fuck?
Me when free fucking red meter reset
Beeg beeble go zoom
Also I got back into Rise recently
Hey is it weird that I wanna try out frontier to see just how fucking wild it gets?
It goes places
So kinda stupid Wilds question, do we know if the seasonal festivals repeat, or if there's gonna be a different spring festival than Blossomdance this year?
Cuz I want the Blossomdance armor so fucking bad for Mizu fashion aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I hope so, I missed the Halloween and sads
They're expected to repeat, since World had its cycling annually
I also wonder how many we'll get before the expansion
🔨
Shit goes bonk lmao
unironically might make a mizu longsword/hammer build with partbreaker
I did
Apparently they're genuinely just sitting on multiple fully-formed conlangs
soobar! shaybar!
lmao
Also
I cannot believe the Hawkheart Jacket quest 1: makes you VOGUE
and 2
IT'S SO GOOD
PUTS OLIVIA IN A FLAPPER DRESS MADE OF MONSTER PARTS WITH THE LALA BARINA FLOWER STOCKINGS I AM NOT OKAY
What?
I think her outfit actually varies? Let me check
Yeah that's maddening
I've been working on one alpha, one beta, and every switch axe, and I got fatigued halfway through
Have you done Gemma's sidequest to get her jacket?
a whirlwind of slashes and gemstones and scales and fur and teeth and colors
I have yet to start Wilds
Aha yeah it's a single outfit I just forgot what Peak looks like
Spoilers for Wilds :)
asgfhgbm
Olivia
girls.,. nbm
girls :)
girls are the only thing keeping me going on this goal

Coughing Baby VS Hydrogen Bomb
that gore magala doesn't stand a chance
I know it'd be three games in a row with the Geuse
But I hope he gets added to Wilds
I would vote against the Goose if only because I feel that its inclusion might preclude or at least discourage any more new Blast monsters
Especially shadowdropped
Invaders should 100% be shadowdropped every time they're added
No patch notes, no warning, just
Monster Hunter World OST: Bazelgeuse Theme 飛来せし気高き非道 ~ バゼルギウス [HQ | 4K] https://itunes.apple.com/jp/album/1336356191?app=itunes
if they add Qurupeco they should just sneak Deviljho in along with it
Qurupeco but it summons every invading monster the series has ever had at the same time
That would be a dedicated recurring event quest in every game if Capcom gave Qurupeco the respect it's owed 😔
I would unironically be so happy
I love my angry B52 Albatross friend
Magimarshmello hunted
Sinister Greaves
Nargacuga Cutwing
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
oh no
so, for Maganamalo, does fire ignite his hellfire?
or blast?
or is it just enough damage?
Iirc it's just how pissed off you've made him
The game saw fit to give me literally all the rathalos rubies my entire wishlist needed 😌
In one hunt
sakura slash 🧎
Rise SWAXE my beloved, and Magna is definitely one of my favourites (though not necessarily design wise)
Yeah I feel the same about Magnamalo
its design, ecology, and characterization leave a lot to be desired, but it's an excellent fight with great gear
Oh I more meant just the Magna weapon designs I don't love
oh the axe slap (mechanically)
Though I do agree with you, but I do feel like he only needs a little toning down
Like, the concept of explosion tiger monster with some samurai theming isnt bad, they just stuck too many knives on him
I do love that hellfire basically just means he's stinky
And gave him the proportions of an 80s wrestler
Christ I never even thought about it that way
He is just covered in exploding farts isn't he
OOOH YEAH!
He's just such a ridiculous beefcake you can't even take him seriously
MAGGY MARSHMELLOW'S GONNA BE THROWN IN THE RING FOR THE INTERCONTENTAL BELT
YOU NEED TO TAKE HIM OUT, HUNTER
yeah, it's a fun fight
too bad he's always across the Shrine Ruins from the start
Magnamalo 🤝 Ebony Odo
Ate something that upset their tummy :(
Tummy hurt 🙁
Deodorant is a gamer's worst nightmare
Real
I love charging 50% meter with one move thank you
was a change from the R key switching modes to mouse 3
So far with monsters not already from World, we're in love with:
Tetranadon
Arzaros
Aknosom
Royal Ludroth
Great Izuchi
Lagombi is okay
Khezu...... do not want
Khezu is peak, wym? /j
Somnacath is okay
You're thinking of Tetranadon, Tetsucabra is the giant tusk toad
yeah, just remebered that
Was gonna say, isn't Tetsu in Wilds, not Rise?
i believe it was last in GU
I mixed them up
the big rock planter
Tetra is one of those monsters you wish wasn't a starter monster because it could be a really cool monster if it were a powerhouse
Tetra is the mosshippocroc?
Volvidon has cool armor
okay fight
Basarios is silly cause I can't tell where the fuck it goes when it goes to sleep
Bishaten, also a fun fight
Can't wait to fight Mizutsune tho
Thoughts on Rampage mode?
No idea
I've only seen up to about where you are
I should play Rise, tbh
I have it installed
:)
I think there's only like two or three required rampages?
"what if a siege hunt was a tower defense" is a really cool idea and it's kind of shame it's probably gonna go the way of underwater combat reputation-wise
hearing word that they fixed the wilds dlc check issue, anyone having performance improvements?
Tetsu is not in Wilds 😔
we only have Tetsu's underachieving cousin Chata
That was it
Hey, I like him x3
Doing some quick before-and-after comparisons with the new Wilds' PC/Steam performance patch!
#mhwilds #monsterhunter
OH SHIT I MISSED A PATCH?
thank you shocked akuma
plus frames ☠️
yeah he gets those
God I love this fucking series dude
🗣️
Seems to be
My understanding is that yeah it is actually a reasonably significant boost in performance, especially if you know what settings to mess around with (properly turning off TAA is important) but the game still doesn't run as well as it should for how it looks
But there is another performance patch coming as well
I'm not enjoying it as much
Because
I think I accidentally did the thing where NVIDIA, if you start a clean install and then that install gets interrupted
Just
deletes your old drivers
awesome possum
2nd cart of the playthrough goes to Zinogre
I let it cart me just because it's a good puppy
3rd to Anjanath
alright, time to do a new monster
mizutsune
Mizu was fun
Is it bad I don't enjoy their gear?
also this is straight up nightmares
Almudron was fricking hard
Good
was getting a bit bored
pushed me to run through all my herbs
No, that's a fucking crime! /j
In all seriousness Mizu seems laser targeted at The Furry Weebs
Of which I am one so of course it's my favorite monster
nightmare blunt rotation
it's a fun fight
but the armor is okay imo
Valid
I only actually use the 'male' pants in Wilds cuz Blossomdance isn't back yet for the normal ones
i.e. normal hakama, not fuzzy ones made out of fur lmao
Wasn't as bad as I thought
we stand corrected
AGONY
Aren't those the quests you do to skip the LR guild quests and start right at the HR ones?
rise had a village/hub split like the old days, so the special license quests are effectively "hey you just played through the single player low rank, so if you don't want to play the multiplayer low rank, you can fast forward with these"
So you don't have to do these, they are entirely self-imposed
the female helmet is good enough for bunny ears
We're already at hub level 3 and 4/6 done
Rath
Tobi
Barioth
Mizu
Forgot how much we hate Viper Tobi's moves
Yeah
hell yeah
I like Zinogre a lot now after fighting it a ton
Thunderlord is a bit iffy but it's got some cool moves
Tobi in Rise is in a really good place tbh, once you get used to the moveset
Base Tobi in World fell a bit flat because it was so easy to bully, and Viper was arguably too much juice
Viper really is too much juice
also we found out village quests are 66% health of hub quests
oh god
Time to bully Cool Guy
i think they gave rathian the diagonal dreadqueen flips in wilds
gave me a bit of a flashback

She's got double flips and the corkscrew 🥴
Wilds actually added quite a few of the deviant moves to the standard monsters
Rathalos got a couple of his, mizu basically got a whole ass soulseer mode
Nargacuga
Hmmm, yes. It's still around
such a fun monstie...
we finally hit HR Hub
shell yeah
was about to ask what weapon y'all are playing then i looked at the screenshot lmao
straight up switching it 😌
We ended up getting the Nargacuga swaxe
for blue sharpness
gonna go back to Sinsister once I can find an HR Maggy Marshmellow

Hinoa also heard a snek talk about finding a thot or something
we don't follow the plot all to well
But we need the sharpness skill for that
did you all know that LR Nargacuga bounces green sharpness on its forelegs?????
yes :(
I think Silverwind Nargacuga was mean about that even for blue or white...?
😭
it's been a bit though
what a cool deviant
drove me nuts until I played aerial IG though
I love bleeding!!
Oh?
More monsters with weird fucked up jaws
I love you Balahara I love you Jin Dahaad
I love you Khezu and Gigginox I love you Vaal Hazak
^^^^
truuuuuue
give us a Bird Wyvern with some goose shit going on with its mouth
not sure if aknosom does?
I like normal Vaal Hazak
Blackveil can go burn in Maggy's hellfire
Elder dragons don't need their own individual supernova
although it's cool
all monsters gotta have a laser and a supernova tho
Upgraded our armor today
also got working on a new LS
the Guardian tree looks pretty cool
gonna need that blue sharpness

shell yeah
The control text
Guessing I have to press all four keys to do this?
I think that more implies being in motion
yeah it means some kind of directional input
Well see
The difference is that "axe" is capitalized in one of them and not the other
and Mode!
Oh true!
No, it’s just you have to be moving in a direction
[Reply to:](#1164963928531533855 message) Guessing I have to press all four keys to do this?
^
Blackveil is sincerely my least favorite hunt in the entire franchise, but it's made so much worse by Iceborne's balancing choices
Iceborne completely fucking up hitzones and HP to forcibly justify the clutch claw didn't help
Shrieking Legiana: At Least It's Not Blackveil
I really hate being unconstructively negative about Monster Hunter but genuinely what were they thinking
Okay, we were confused cause we thought it was a separate move, rather than a replacement
We will not stand for Coral Pukei Pukei slander
Okay, one exception
i don't mind ebony odo but I've fought it only ~3 times in world, so I can't totally remember lmao
I remember finally adapting to its speed and that feeling awesome
Fulgur Anjanath is okay too, but not Coral level
Viper is my level of ADHD
lol
Shrieking's only issue is the other fucking legiana you have to fight all the time
I love Legi, they're cute and adorable
Please, just don't make me fight 2 at once
yeahh :(
i don't like when there's 2 monsties just swinging at ya
I should bring dungs i suppose 😔
even with dungs the normal legi comes back

I'm begining to believe
Love the Mizu fight in Rise, especially with SWAXE. It really feels like a dance between you and him
Using LS cause it's the only weapon we have with blue sharpness
can't seem to find an armor set with handicraft
The Rise Mizu theme is also an absolute banger, maybe my second favourite track in any monster hunter game (after Shara Ishvalda's theme)
Zinogre's Rise theme is a banger
I think the Damascus set is the first time it shows up in Rise
They're stingy with it even into High Rank. First will be either Damascus or the Hunter's Mail.
Then you get it from Kushala and HR Magnamalo
then it's much more available in MR
It's the best Kushala's ever been, don't worry
"The best shit has ever tasted."
😏
Kushala's alright as long as they let you poison it to turn off its bullshit
and Rise has the least annoying moveset
Rusted though?
||they should add Rusted to Wilds||
Kushala in Rise is genuinely not bad, coming off of World especially but not only because
It's strange that we're fully into HR and there's barely any weapons with blue sharpness base
Unless we're missing something
In World we needed blue sharpness just to start HR
It varies from game to game
REAL
😭 😭 😭
Watch pain by dannyquil and millions of other MH World videos on Medal. #mhworld, #monsterhunterworld

Oh no, I'm talking about MR Kushala
also known as "you can't touch me, I'm behind 700000000 windstorms!"
dread
You really only start seeing them near the end of HR. I think white starts showing up around then too, but on very few weapons (it also varies from weapon to weapon)
Fair
We're just used to already getting blue by now in world
Blue was needed to get through the endgame of base world
Switch axe is kino
Is it just us, or does Rise have less knockdown time than World?
it feels like monsters just get right back up
Grabbed the first HR Ore LS so we can have a better weapon
I think it's shorter, yeah. To compensate for wyvern riding doing buttloads of damage (and the player power level being significantly above average)
Yeah, there's more ways for a hunter to knock a monster down so I do think they reduced the time spent knocked down some
currently grinding HR Rathalos for a new armor set
Fucked up that I've never once used Rathalos armor
wait, does HR Anjanath also give Inferno Sacs or is that Conflagration Sacs?
HR Anja gives Inferno
