#Monster Hunter

Xu Wu is great
That random bullshit throw owns me many a time
Also I should clarify, my that was a terrible fight was me still beating it in 15 minutes, with only one faint to being reckless. So ya know, my standards for terrible fight may be a little hard on myself, lol
Fair
I remember Gore being a steamroller with attacks back in GU
He was a brute back in 4U
it was really hard to get his feelers back then as well
well "its" feelers
because Magala's lore is FUCKED UP
Niiice, sub 5 minute kill on Ebony
Not speedrunner, but pretty dman fast for me
Followed up by a 3"27 on Dosha (special v.)
Even better, these are slays, not captures
Gore flips around a lot as well
you ever wanna be damned to an eternity of pain just cause someone else evolved faster than you or someone else fucked with your molting
my favorite apex
Worse, shaggy doesn't lay eggs.
The scales are infections, and gore is basically a parasitiv overgrowth of whatever the host body was
And then when one successfully molts, it fucks over every other gore near molting, just to deny the competition as you say
i mean on the plus side i dont think it's an eternity, they're actively dying
I hate how far gore goes after some attacks. Just runs the other side of a massive arena and it's like... cool. Now I have to run all the way over there
Well what did you expect a caster main to do? Stay in melee range? /jk
Which is then hilarious when his armour set is the stamina boosting stuff as if he's telling you that you need to keep running
I even plugged it full of stamina jewels
I honestly don't know why, I feel like I never run out of stamina
IIRC Gore armor doesn't give you more stamina, just less spent on dodges
Dashing would be unnafected
On the flipside, I also hate how Gore is only in the Iceshard Cliffs. Rooms are way too tiny, plus half the time it insists on getting itself stuck in a corridor.
The ISC just seems like a weirdly designed area for monster hunter because most of the larger monsters literally just won't fit in it
Like, bizarrely, it restricts having Jho or Bazel come back because I don't think there are many spaces that they could move through in it
Does make me hope they bring back Lunagaron actually
speaking of areas, i've never actually had a monster fight in the forest area with the big breakable dam
I've fought gore in the big arena area before
Which is where the chasing problem was very noticeable
time to play some monster hunter with the new controller
The Apex monster will sometimes go down there from the top of the dam
actually, sometimes it just goes there too
It's probably just rng
i've hsd like 3 times where im chasing a monster and it goes to the area but it just passes through. i just wanna drop a dam on something π
I've fought the apex there and scared the shit out of my wife both times i collapsed the dam
omg
I can hear the music
himb
I killed Uth Duna with the dam once!
god i wish that were me
So the whole sticker situation is kinda insane
what's up
I saw one the other day that was something like "monster gooned" after we'd finished the hunt
Finished, definitely.
Maybe I should steal a Max Dood joke and make a "Monster Runner!" sticker to deploy whenever a monster fucks off to another area
I have one I'm super proud of but pretty sure I can't post here
Not what I'd call pg-13
10/10 game no notes
Dm it to me
dm it to me as well pls i want to witness
If you say so
Now I'm curious, show me as well
I actually like that funny beast so much
In worlds when you're fighting the Odogaron in the highlands and you both turn and immediately get flash banged.
Hey uh, spoiler this gif please? It's actively painful
mb
Gotta flash em back
Or pole vault outta the way. New kinsect tech feels incredible by the way
The indicator for your buffs is huge qol
skill issue lol
but legit yeah no they can be kinda painful
I'm a sucker for a raptor fella
They're one of worlds ecosystem monsters, stuff that basically exists to make the world feel more like... A world
tzitzi-ya-ku wasn't that bad to fight IIRC. The shamos are just really annoying.
Question: do you think the shamos are as closely related to the jagras and girros as they seem to be, and are unusually divergent in their lack of strong sexual dimorphism? Or are they totally different and this is a case of convergent evolution?
correlation: wasn't that bad to fight with the literal fastest weapon types. If you're using something slower, results may vary.
They seem to be relatives, but are missing a Great version for whatever reason
...why did I say "correlation" rather than "correlary"?
it was fine with gunlance and switch axe
it helps that it kinda just
Ah. I have a half-remembered old playthrough with glaive, and then a more recent playthrough with dual blades that I'm working off of.
doesn't do anything dangerous
other than the stun
which is a cone, unlike gypceros's larger aoe as an old/new contrast in wilds
yeah. And its stun telegraph is very easy to exploit on dual blades, since you're already right next to it and circling to the side isn't hard.
yuh
you just hug its body since it doesn't have any scary get-off-mes
and when it tries to back up to flashbang you, you just get to its ass
or roll through it, but that's always inconsistent without EW
or its side, honestly. A lot of monsters have backward kicks and are weaker to their sides. Plus then you can get the side of its head.
I honestly consider it a waste of a monster spot
Great girros is similar
(great jagras is fine because it's an intro monster, and also greatest jagras)
But honestly, breaking its head is not ideal because the flash is so incredibly exploitable on dual blades that you want it to do that.
Just gotta be behind em
Or flank em
Or mush them into paste with hammer
I just... are you rating the Tzitzi-ya-ku itself, or the Tzitzi-ya-ku fight where it runs away and you have to fight a trillion Shamos in the middle?
Because those are different things.
Kinda become commentary on the highlands at that point
Which I have strong opinions of
sooo true
I think the highlands look cool. And it has some of my favorite monsters. It just also has shamos.

i should work on getting out of the cone
it just comes in whenever i'm fighting something else and kaboom
π
Paolumu was fun with glaive and a bit more annoying with dual blades; legiana remains probably my favorite fight, or in a close tie with odogaron.
It also has the despair pits
Legiana... I really like its arena, and it feels extremely fair to fight. You can hit it, you can evade it, it isn't hip-checking you. When you get hit, it's because the Legiana attacked, not just repositioned.
I really can't think of any monster that I dread fighting. But paolumu? Meh pass. Don't like that critter.
paolumu is cute and funny. I dunno.
i dread fighting nergigante and pink rathian
paolumu is a nothingburger to me, but nightshade paolumu
Nergigante is pretty fun but pretty hard. I did not like Pink Rathian. She's the queen of hip checks, and the weak point being the tip of her tail is weird and awkward.
I still have a loathing of Diablos, for a very specific insect-glaive-exclusive reason: you can jump high enough to get over its sprite, but its charging hitbox is just a bit taller than its sprite is, so it will be able to hit you when charging even if it clearly shouldn't.
And it drops the ice insect glaive parts...
Paolumus stink face is pretty funny I'll give you that
I lied I kinda dread Kushala Daora
Was hell to fight that thing with glaive
I haven't played in forever, and even longer since I did glaive; I don't remember exactly what I dreaded. Uh, Jyuratodus, but only because I was very unlucky with it and I needed a lot of its drops? It wasn't hard; I just got sick of it.
I think thats where I'm at with Paloma
That's fair.
Kirin was annoying, partially because I like to wear the lightning-weak legiana armor out of greed, partially because it just plays so differently to everything else?
Also I always refer to Radobaan as "Autobahn". I don't know why I randomly remembered that.
It's just so pretty
And was kinda fresh with the glaive, I remember rocking that for a while
Until I got the Odogaron stuff
I should play again sometime. And maybe even consider buying Iceborne. Or Wilds, if I'm making a big purchase (which I'm not doing anytime soon).
Wait on wilds, it needs some stability stuff. The community is gonna be huge
Iceborne is super worth it
Shnow shark moment
I think that was the last thing I was doing in world. Getting ganked by Beotodus
And I had to say "mm, that's enough of that"
i love iceblight
beotodus was ok for me other than being hard to smack out of swimming, but barioth is my mortal enemy
one day i will smash its claws with a hammer and leave it cowering on the ground
...I don't know how I feel about Pukei-Pukei as a fight, but I have to say, it's an extremely well-designed tutorial.
it's basically a walking tutorial for tail cuts, but it also leads you around more of the Ancient Forest and kind of shows you what the various plants in the environment do via its own interactions with them? But mostly the tail cut thing.
Cool dog
RAD Armor
It is a brutal fight tho I'll absolutely grant you that
ooh the helmet gives evade extender 2 π
They're gonna be Iced out! Drip or drown!
Lol Theja, I was like "I should forward that to Throne" bc of the conversation happening in there, then I saw where you forwarded it from π
Boutta have chicken for dinner
Howmanytimes.png
Let's just say I've been getting a lot of protein in my diet lately
I got a sticker for that too but that one's just for me.
This is why we put our tents in the places labeled "Safe" and "insecure"
The actual mechanics btw:
||Safe can never be found by monsters. Insecure can be found, but only if you lead monsters to it. Dangerous is actively in the path of mosnters and will be found by them no issue||
lol.
I will say, it is possible for monsters to find Insecure camps on their own, although it's pretty infrequent. Not sure if that's true for every Insecure camp, but it's happened to me more than once.
living up to my discord status
She did the math. She did the monster math.
||There's one Insecure in the desert that can be found, but monsters can't actually reach it so they just kinda sit there yelling at your tent||
It's fucking hysterical
||It happened with a Gypceros once and it sat there for a solid couple of minutes just yelling at my tent and barfing poison at it||
lol i think i got that one
i wasn't there so i couldn't see what was happening
i was just picturing the monster finding the tent and going "??? ????? ?? ????" but not doing anything
so many pins
woo!
time to craft
What's your weapon on choice again Topple? Show us what the Gore design looks like on it
I have unlocked my Gorn
oh, i'll post once i boot back up
i just stopped for a bit to play FTL
i also don't think i've actually made any gore weapons
i've been mostly playing sns with a side of gunlance
and those need artian and arkveld, respectively, so i just never bothered
i have been meaning to craft the gore switch axe, because it looks peak
man it's crazy how good wilds looks
going back to videos on rise and it looks like a mobile game
ehich, its for the switch, im not blaming it
just in awe of wilds
Oh hey, got a small crown rey dau
investigation saved too, if anyone needs/wants at some point
Tiny boi
Sad they made the names be in that order
The klangers
Kummerklang is such a better name then gramklang (kummerklang translates to sound of sorrow/grief)
That is a pretty good name for the gorn
She's just Laios but in Monhunt and fem.
She's way spacier than laois. Like"put me in your pack and take me along on the mission" level spacy
If we want to compare MH characters to Laios I'd have to bring up the Handler from World since she has the food obsession going on
But laios loves monsters more than eating monsters, Eating monsters is just a bonus
I love them so much I need to wear them as a hat
i love losing the quest when the monster has less than 10% health left and victory is a foregone conclusion
i'm actually going to go insane
fighting Teostra and someone died to its nova
going to scream
literally like, almost every quest i've done recently trying to farm for items has ended with me getting nothing due to failure
not that i don't love hunting monsters but spending 20-30 minutes locking in on a hunt for the grand reward of one singular item is not fun
That super nova got my ass so many times
i just jesus jump, invincibility frames are goated
ok just need a fulgur anja mantle, brachydios pallium, immortal reactor and a large elder dragon gem
just going to grind guiding lands gathering stuff
If you're getting mad about other people frailing, it's time to solo stuff
Right, but if you're coming and raging here... like you gotta take al ook at things ath at point, surely.
3 full x10 overdrives no celestial wyverian π
mfw king armor spheres
going to need to keep farming i guess
at least i've got all my regions up to max after this run
nice
congrats
ore n bone
needed uh
coal chunks for the steamworks
easiest way to get them is to max the guiding lands gathering
want those celestial wyverian prints
Isnt the easiest way to do the event zinogre that gives you a ton per hunt?
Might be mistaken here but the zinogre event is def great for it
i just read about that today!
you can net the back for silver and gold eggs instead of bugs :O
maybe
Whump, over doubled my hunter rank...
however
farming guiding lands also means i have guiding lands materials
which i will need
i've already gotten tons of the rarest gathering materials for every zone
YOU WHAT
FUCK
i already fucked it by mining a thing too much
welp
guess i gotta fix that now π
Oops
yeah uhhh... I do way too much side content
so when it undoes the limiter...
@frank epoch they won't know what hit them
hell yeah
I don't know if this counts as "too much" but it's a tool for a job
I'm torn between using Paralyzer jewels and seeing what Drain jewels do
there's no kill like overkill
having tested a variation of that, just use ko + paralyzer
drain doesn't do too much on top of both of those
unfortunately "increases certain attack's ability to exhaust monsters" is a terrible description
it just builds up the exhaust status on the monster
like when they start drooling and moving super slow. makes that happen quicker
I mean it's kinda useful
but not better than a tazer to the nostril
I managed to get a few tier 8's from the get go
got the kae-jin's lament, which is the xu wu one
Uhhhh.. managed to save this as an investigation if anyone wants to do it in the future
I feel like it's going to beat my corpse into the floor when I fight it
I then also managed to save a tempered gore
i'll do it with you
I'm stopping for now, but we'll tackle these buggers together
hopefully they've got some good loot
heck I forgot to check what gore gave
You uhh, you may have delayed to long on uncapping XD
Realize?
I love the swaxe in this game so much
So many funny ways to make sword explode
I will doot a horn for anyone whenever they desire
Well, except bed time
I will say, not sure what to do now the plot of the game seems fully done. Is it just... farming for end-game gear and designing the perfect horn?
Pretty much!
also capturing all the enedmic life, etc
Get all the small crowns/big crowns, etc
I'm making all the armor sets
crown grind seems like a real pita
So much gracium ore ;.;
It's better than any previoius game with binos showing you if they're crown sized + investigations being saveable so you can share with others
If you're real desperate there's a mod that makes it so any investigation omsnter is garunteed to spawn tiny crown or big crown
now begins the "farm your brains out and wait patiently for Title Updates" phase of a monster hunter game's release cycle
Yeah itβs the βprepare for the title updates that have the hard stuffβ time
Especially with AT or an equivalent coming in April
How does AT (assuming that means arch-tempered) compare to something like apex? i didn't click with world so i never got to be hands on with it
Much tougher than axpes. Arch tempereds have usually been pretty brutal - they're an existing monster with added moves to it's moveset, higher hp, higher damage
put it this way: I can reliably takedown Fatalis in a group in worlds. AT Velkahana? ahahaha, it's a crap shoot if the team wins or not
Now that sounds like exactly what i want
so closer to risen basically, got it
i liked apexes in 4U but it really did come down to "you just have to use a special stone"
...
oh fuck right rise had apex too
genuinely forgot about that
They're much more analogus to like, 9/10 star Deviants, or yeah, Risen from what i'd heard of them, i hadnt actually fought anyh of em
it would make sense to be apexes here too
since the phenomenon is directly connected to frenzy
Risen also had a few new moves
Would be fucked up to have 3 different games with apexes and only two being the same type
i hope we don't get wystones back
they weren't GOD AWFUL but it was too much rock paper scissors for my tastes
Rise Apexes were because of the whole rampage thing though
Either way it's apexes were very much not the same as apex frenzied
Yeah, it's apxes were baiscally just deviants with a new coat of paint
rise's was more... environmental than being tied to the frenzy
Aye
a shame they didn't get armour with a fresh coat of paint like the deviants too
seriously some of the deviant armours were my favorite designs and it sucks that they're never coming back
I would actually enjoy deviants bakc, with some rethinking of the system
(Having to grind out 10 levels of werid quest variants not fun)
Soulseer mizu's male armour is genuinely my absolute favorite mizu armour
I'd admittedly bring them back as just unique versions of the monsters, they were already subspecies but with just way more difference, lean into that since we're more or less seeing the typical approach to subspecies being phased out
(with unique weapons and armour, of course)
I gotta say, i do not miss "Species, but <color>"
and i like that stuff like Brute Tigrex, Acidic Glav etc are distinct fights
Oh i don't either
that's why i think we should look at subspecies and just full axe anything that was a recolour, but keep the special ones and bring in deviants
Stuff like lucent narga absolutely stays
shoutouts to fucking green nargacuga
Stygian zinogre?
as cool as it is, it's just an elemental swapped zinogre
and also blue/pink raths are just
nothingburgers
literally just regular raths with number+
i think they gave pink rath deadly poison at one point to try and make her unique?
No wait that was dreadqueen
and tbh, metal raths are also mostly unnecessary now because base raths have metal rath attacks
yeah
Metal Raths are at least kinda iconic
are we still going to get 13143656 rath variants? yes, rathalos is charizard
but they're unnecessary now
Base raths inherited the pink/azure moves
the only variants of raths that are unique anymore is dreadking/queen
and even then some of dreadking's aspects have been schlorped into wild's rath
what dread rath uniqueness did wildlos get?
pink rathian sucks
It's not the exact same but either guardian or the normal can spit a fireball that lingers now
it's kinda like dreadking's lingering explosive fireball, without the explosive
isn't lingering fireball on iceborne/sunbreak metal raths?
Wouldn't know iceborne, i forgot if sunbreak even got metals
it did didn't it?
god they're so forgettable
but yeah metal rath might've had it
they would never miss a chance to put metal raths in G/MR
As said, tehy're pretty iconic
and as long as they keep getting some ugprades etc
i dont mind
Another reason i want dreadking rath back is the fucking drip dude
rathalos set with cape
so who was going to tell me that artian weapons look cool as hell
i like the artian cb
They're pretty divisie in the fanbase right now
though the b ig issue is that there's no layered, so you're kinda stuck with Very Samey
even just beign able to change the glow color would help
wow that is...holy shit thats cool
when we got day 1 layered armor
Yeah, it's my favorite rathalos set
it keeps my preferred style on the helmet, spikes it up a little, and adds a cape
which, in GU, was colour able
and since the older games had The Rainbow Pigment
you know what most hunters put on it
Dreadqueen was also super good
no cape but peak knight drip for guys and frankly a really cute armoured skirt for gals
tbh, if there was a game to bring back deviants wilds would be the game with the more fleshed out set bonuses
i don't think we need, or should get, 1 to 1s of the Soul skills since some of those were busted as fuck (earplugs and attack up XL was fucked)
but it'd be cool
this is all so COOL
shoutouts to disposable earplugs, speaking of fucked
Deviants were fucking rad man, the only bad part was having to spam hunt it at least 10 times, likely more
i do and don't want those back
Hellblade had some good shit, forgot about that
Glavenus with blast blight was frankly really fucked up
Whole gameplan was priming you and then trying to pop you with a tail swing
BLOODBATH ARMOUR WAS SO COOL
In general or just deviants?
in general but damn these deviant armors are incredible
huge fan of vaal hazaak
Ooo okay that's gonna be tough, gimme some time to check some armours
VAAL HAZAK SWEEP! HELL YEAG!
i can see why
Damnit i used a mixed set in 4u, i was gonna point to that but i can't
lemme check
Not my favorite but i am sad we've never gotten this damascus helmet back
isn't the wilds masc damascus helmet very similar?
Not closed face and i think it lacks the plume sadly
ah
but yes EXTREMELY close
mm, with the exceptional similarity on wilds', we might see an MR alternate with the closed faceplate
I prefer my helmets to be closed face
also fucking- amazing detail i learned while checking out the gallery, story spoilers
|| in the by my order scene, when the glass shard flies at you, IT ACTUALLY SPARKS OFF IF YOURE WEARING A FULL HELMET||
That's what i'm hoping, specially since the HR version already has the cape
Garkveld's is another top contender for armor sets to me
as is xu wu
i prefer primary masc but with fem head
Normal arkveld for me, i prefer the style for the helmet for
obvious reasons
i much prefer the glowing runes on the mask
I think i'd like garkveld more if i could colour the actual armour itself
having a starch white no matter what will always mean my colours have to compliment it
fair
Also think i finally have an answer on absolute favorite armour
it is admittedly a generic pick,
...maybe? i don't actually know
regardless, primordial malzeno
Masc version specifically
dunno the fem version
the shield like pauldrons, the horned and plumed helmet, the opening for your eyes on the helmet, the wing membrane cape, the fact it's entirely colourable outside of the bone (which is a very flexible tannish colour)
understandable, that set is incredible
Oh it's apparently more or less the same for both genders
But yeah, it's that or soulseer that i posted earlier
i like malzeno's, but i'm pretty ambivalent to that mizu set
I personally love it, specially because iirc you could colour the sole eye?
I also just prefer it cause the headpiece is more 'armoured' than what mizu armour's usual headpieces look like
which are basically just a wig with some small mizu scales
i'm also just really biased cause mizutsune is one of, if not my most, favorite monster in the series with the deviant being even more so
it's part of why i'm excited for wild's mizu cause i really hope they do something new for its MR/G rank armour
it would be nice to let other monsters get a chance, at least
still waiting on gigginox Literally Ever instead of two khezus
gigginox armor...

something about that armor feels off
it's probably because its textures are from 2009
no, older textures have no impact on that. i cant tell if its the colors or the banners or the hood but something feels wrong
You understand me
Genuinely fucks with me that we keep getting khezu over giggi
I wonder what khezu would taste like if you cooked one
I think the absolute best we can hope for is like squid
Given all the descriptions of its flesh as "rubbery"
Most all predators taste bad aiui
They smell worse lemme tell you
Bioaccumulation! It's really bad for you
They actually menion bioacucmulation as a problem in this mosnter hunter, whcih i liked
Diablos is quite possibly delicious though
(Since it's a herbivore)
Me trying to bioaccumulate enough frenzy particles to gain the buff it gives monsters
(it doesn't work)
I mean it does
That's kinda what gore armour is for
(Granted, its not exactly the same as apexes, but still)
And the Antivirus jewel, for extra going crazy
how much am i missing out on damage outputwise if i just skip out on artian weapons
is this super significant
it probably is, but its muscles work out a LOT given its nature as an aggressive, super angry burrowing wyvern that travels between cacti patches frequently
so its meat is probably very tough
good for stews tho I assume
Not incredibly imo. Mostly depends on the weapon you normally use
swaxe
Ehhhhh
Tbh stuff dies so fast in this game that having a good artian weapon won't make your hunts so much faster that I think it's a requirement to get them
Like I have a vespoid hunting horn and it's got pretty noticeably lower damage than the artian horn but it feels like it makes MP hunts quicker and easier due to the ridiculous amount of paralysis
About 5-10% damage. It's not nothing, and the flexibility of Artians is really good ... But it's not everything either
Ya paralysis seems insane in this entry.
Artians only pull ahead when you've got them properly upgraded, and have the decos for them
If doing that is too much grind for you, just using monster bit weapons should be fine
Basically, if you want the best stuff, they're the best stuff
But building one requires you get 3x attack parts for the thing you want (para, probably), then you have to get at least 3 attack rolls on it (around a 5% chance, I think?). And then you gotta have the decos to fill it up, and I have no idea what SA uses for decos
Probably at least one crit boost.
it's the "you want something to grind? here you go" feature for the base game
Yeah, it's really good. I'm rolling with an artian paralysis switch axe and just decksweeping monsters, my buddy runs a paralysis hammer. Most monsters get to do like 1 attack every minute between the knockdown, stagger, paralysis, mount, tail cut, wound break, environmental damage...and the entire time we're just dumping damage into it. It's good.
Current set for SA I'm using is 2 piece Fulgur, 2 piece Gore, Ark chest (the one with more slots). Max Might, Agitator, Crit Boost, Antivirus (you can get 3 off the Gore legs with 2 sane gems), Power Prolonger, Counterstrike, and then a single point of Burst.
The fulgur 2 is mostly to guarantee having max Might up 100% of the time even if I need to dodge or roll in sword mode
Fun fact about Counterstrike is that it works even if you counter the hit in sword mode or superarmor through it in full release slash
Free damage buff!
Shout out the goose π
I'm still split on my loadout. I picked up huntie horn last night and I'm kinda in love with the sax

A party member is running para sns and coupled with the big bonks It feels like bullying
Also works for greatsword tackle
also works if you take chip damage during an offset
basically if you take damage during anything that gives you super armor
Yeah, GS is competing for my favorite weapon this gen
So many tools in the toolkit. It's fantastic
I'm still very much a charge blade homie
i'm liking CB this gen too, but i'm still very much learning it
like i didn't realize how many perfect guard follow-up options you had until i watched a video guide the other day
I'm just happy to escape the chains of axe hopper spam
checked the Zinogre quest for getting fuel for the steamworks and i still think it's more efficient and easier to just go guiding lands
i just got 4500 fuel in one run, and the zinogre only has a chance to drop any amount of giant dragonvein coals, worth 1000 fuel each
so unless you get really lucky and get a bunch of them in a single run, it's more efficient to grind guiding lands
although i would get MR levels for hunting zinogre so that might be useful
Huh. I think one zinogre hunt gives like 5 to 15k depending on how much you break / with plunderblade. guiding lands for sure more chill tho. Its close enough tho that farming is just gucci if you dont wanna deal with perma zinogre hunting
made a new set for thunder weapons, got a good fit for it
big badda boom
ic ic
currently i need Large elder dragon gem, fulgur anjanath mantle, brachydios pallium and an immortal reactor
which is why i was trying to do stuff with the steamworks since i need like 4 celestial ticket items
Ye that's super legit
it seems that when an event is active it's basically impossible to get celestials
so like
i'm kinda fucked rn
since the overdrive bonus during events is gold tickets/king armor spheres
which is the closest thing to useless to me rn
and the only way to get celestials is through a red proc, which has a like 1% chance to give you a celestial wyverian instead of the other red proc rewards
If you are a db player join the cult of full Safi armour π
ok but that means i neeed even MORE celestial wyverian items
Good alternative btw for an endgame DB set is full silver rathalos excluding pants and garuga pants. That way you also don't need kjar weapons of you don't wanna go safi
then i need Deviljho crook, Zinogre Skymerald, Velkhana Crystal and still an Large Elder Dragon gem
also furious rajang dbs do fuck hard
they are the ones i'm using for thunder element
for water dbs you can get the event fish ones with inate protective polish
ice its prob actually the frostfang barioth ones. Mayyyybe velks? but frostfang is just way easier
i have Velkhana, Safi Fire, Ebony Odogaron and Furious Rajang for my setups rn
endgame you do though are like really good with an ice db and dragon db
yeah
i'm working mostly on ice and fire for Ala
idk what Fatty is weak to but i'll cross that bridge when i get to it
i guess i oughta just like fight any of the monsters that give the high level items i need
since i'm trying to get my mastery rank up anyway
best for fatlis is dragon
makes sense
i love using flashpods on flying monsters trynna run away
nah, you don't get to just fly off, run it back
yay
i got a large elder dragon gem from hunting Namielle
now i just need to hunt fulgur anja and brachy
omw to cause an extinction level event to get a rare item
today i learned affinity sliding is 30% for 30 seconds
when it said "a short time" i assumed 5 seconds or so

hammer time
gonna grab affinity sliding, airborne, and slugger
though i won't be able to get slugger on my event set
I only have slugger gloves
fun fact: doing a sliding attack with Dual Blades instantly activates Affinity Sliding if you do the archdemon mode version. Which requires very little slope.

just going to have to hunt more fulgurs i guess
my opp
How do you do the slide thing? So far I've had to run for a while on a steep slope
run down a steep slope, I think crouch to start sliding? Or just attack. I have muscle memory but not conscious memory.
you need your weapons sheathed.
aha
in world you can attack with one of the buttons to initiate a slide

my opp
although now that iβve fought velkhana a bit more, I could deal with the sweeping beam better
I read that as "Violent" Mizutsune lol
All the mizus we see are violent ones lmao
I got Espinas on my wishlist
Flaming even, if base makes it in
ehhhhh
I'd rather see one and not both
since flaming is basically just "this is the dangerous version"
Wound up on a team full of honkers
wow
doot doot
look at that buff bar
Someone had the sharpness and song duration one too
so we literally just kept on dooting
D O O T. DOOT DOOT. DOOOOT
does the song duration one affect everyone?
because that would go wild with a bunch of different horners
ye
what is 'research help: monster bounties'
the other bounties
Yee
I got confused too
so, is it better to have all attack infusions or all affinity infusions? Or can you mix a little?
for artian weapons
I need a single drop for a type cause I wanna make a sleep horn
going all attack is usually better because you can already get plenty of affinity from armor skills
Unfortunately all my sleep drops have been affinity but it's good to know
its also like, because it is 5 raw vs 5 affinity
5 raw is just simply better in all scenarios
they shouldn't be the same number if there is to not be a clear numerical winner :p
oh wow, yeah that's not even close to a fair comparison
I will simply have to live with it if I want my cool weapon. Unless I get insanely lucky drops
At hr100 you unlock the ability to forge blades/discs etc directly
And tempered apex+ whatever quests are decently common and drop a bunch of tier 8 parts
Tldr: getting the bits is not that bad
I can see what I can do. Because sleep horn might be fun.
I've been doing my best to hunt tempered apexes to get the tier 3 hunter certificates
do you like doing multiplayer?
because if you do i will tell you that sleep is pretty much useless there
in like 50 hunts with a sleep weapon people have sleep bombed/let the Big Weapon do the wakeup a single time
I do dip into multiplayer a lot
Honestly I want a sleep horn just so I have a horn for all ailments
The best horns are the regular horns after all
So I'm gonna slap them together and be like "neat" and then go back to my other cool horns
Oh fuck Congalala's back! I can't wait for him to fart on me!
Exactly! I can't believe Es Penis is in Sunbreak
Oh fuck yeah Nibbelsnarf is returning!
hey now
nibelsnarf only has one n there
All good!
I think there's a lot of Frontier monsters that would absolutely kill it in Wilds. From how they'd interact with Wild's gimmicks and maps to their own strengths as combatants. Here's 3 or so Frontier monsters that I think would work well on each map.

All attack cuz you can cap/go overboard on affinity but not attack
Gonna need to craft the pieces properly
I've got some good tempered arkveld investigations we can use for artian parts
it grows
lifes good,
finally hunted what (i assume) is the hardest hunt in wilds atm
Tempered Ark/Gore?
im assuming ||Tempered Arkveld|| is the hardest hunt atm
I'd personally put gore a little harder because I feel he's more unpredictable
But the game puts Ark on a bit of a pedestal and he's still harder than anything else that isn't gore
i was down to my last cart so i was cutting it really close x3
yeah, I'd argue that tempered gore is the hardest hunt in the game currently.
Ark mostly just feels a lot easier to offset/counter
Thankfully for me I got the Gore stuff done fully by now
technically don't have to touch them ever again
arkveld definitely doesn't feel very difficult to me, but i badly need to do a fresh run with something other than sns
i have a feeling my perception's been skewed by my familiarity with the weapon and its freshly absurd perfect guard
darn
only got one ticket from hunting tempered Frostfang, i need 3 π
ah well
guess i'll hunt it again
one benefit of messing around with steamworks is that i at least have like, 100+ gourmet vouchers to use for quests
what do those do?
gourmet vouchers? they make it so all meals give max health and stamina, and all meal skills proc 100%
regular vouchers just force skill procs
ayup
but funnily enough
they're like
infinitely rarer in iceborne than gourmets
because you only get them from normal places
whereas gourmets were supposed to be rarer, but then got added to the Infinite Ancient Potion Machine
ohhh wow
gotcha
so i can use it to handcraft any meal i want instead of relying on fresh ingredients, and get all the food skills + stat boosts anyways?
unrelated, but very importantly: title update 1 soon...
the gourmet one, that is
correcto
sheeesh
it basically means that once you hit like
five hours into iceborne, you just have infinite Atk L moxie/slugger/whatever you need meals
yup
instead of having to worry about the whims of rng
also the revive once a quest skill
dang
what's that?
moxie
moxie
i thought you'd played monhun games before

wonder who i was confusing you with
ahh
yeah π
monster hunter is two things as a franchise
and neither of them is "action games"
it's a dress-up game and a healthy eating propaganda machine
π
i see
i always used dango defender + recovery up/ele res, and money maker if it showed up
indeed

moxie's mostly reserved for AT elders and the first-class elders
i will take a look tonight
what's it do for cb?
Can give you felyne bombardier I think which boosts phial/shelling damage
yep
felyne bombardier boosts wyvern fire, wyrmstake blast, and shelling for GL
and boosts impact phials
and boosts sticky ammo
wow.
and boosts wyvern ammo
and boosts ballistae and cannons, for if you're fighting fatalis
but mostly those other things
i have been doing a decent amount of ingredient quests on the side in world at least
I'll make some meals tonight
no clue if rise has the same
wilds is easier
although iirc the shared meals from villagers give super random extras
they have guaranteed food skills and then random ones
which is a shame, because they can give stacking versions of skills like offensive guard and evade window
Unfortunately for Shirou Fates thesis on human mortality, i have eaten 6 pieces of meat and have a cat
Thus i can die at least 2 times before i am killed
oh, also, PSA: there are event quests up right now for farming size 3 decorations
lala barina for weapon decos, doshaguma for armor
π the first 2 skills aren't too bad either
during a mount, is it better to attack for the finisher, or regrapple to do clutch claw stuff?
finisher
it topples
you can always claw while they're down, or by putting on rocksteady and then disrespecting them to do it whenever
or just in between attacks like a normal person
i should also grab the rest of the mantles, maybe boosters too
boosters are more tame, but mantles are broken yeah
temporal and rocksteady are...problematic
but evasion is nuts too
as is assassin's, but only for cheese shit
and while you're still learning a fight, eleproof mantles are just good safety nets
then once you get them all, you can upgrade them to shove decos in
you don't get temporal's until iirc MR100 though
yippeeeee
i got two tickets this time
Bergel Vetra here i come
kinda crazy how Velkh dualies have less sharpness, less affinity, less elemental, and only like 10 more raw than Frostfang barioth dualies
God bless Bazel armor
Frostfang kit is insanely stacked, yeah
another reason to put him in wilds...
feelsbadman i wasted time on making the velkh dualies
EVADE WINDOW 4+ JEWEL
big sex, i really wanted one of those
fixed all my layered armors for the elements i have setup also
Ice scarf is very pretty. Love the overall look of the Dragon one
thx
i have a lot of fun making armor sets
i think this is still the hardest set i've cooked, but that was on my other character
finally got Fulgur Anja mantle π
dang fashion really is the endgame
i like the shagaru horn
damn, they really did just call that GS Hubris but in German
need one more armor piece
going to need to fight Brachydios until i get the pallium
got a few levels of MR up which is nice
Why does this mf sound like the Man in the Wall
||https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAQQptDHkBg||
Part of me thinks Capcom might have genuinely sampled that one bit of Wally dialogue
You can't prove they're not related
Temporalism!
its roar is so fucking cool
It is
I think ||Xu Wu might be inspired by Lovecraft and Abdul Alhazred , to some degree||
the cephalopods have incredible noises
For me the ||Xu Wu|| is inspired by ||the sikh. The not very subtle turbant + the variety of weapons, including throwing ones, evokes that image of the sikh warriors mastering every weapon||
i don't think i'm good enough to cut velk's tail with GS.... yet
i'll need to get stuns to hit it, or hit it with some hit and run overhead slashes
Better off getting tailcuts with longsword anyway
oki
Five hundred artian parts
not higher rated
it's a different threat subsystem
not a fan, but it's whatever
monsters have stat variance from 1-5 purple stars
so it's a 4-strength congalala and a 3-strength arkveld, but that's just stat mods vs the actual quality of each
"some people call me the space cowboy"
Wicky wicky
velk time
Some people call me Maaaaurrrrice
cut the velk tail
70% chance for tail
hit the 3% for crystal instead π
but luckily, i got it from an investigation reward
slightly more dripped out now
and i've got a new weapon
namielle down, i really like it
a bit on the chill side, i like the design, somewhat easy to hit and doesn't shake you off with charges
probably good to test weapons on, since you do have to think about positioning still
which mon gave the outfit?
i guess most importantly the chest and waist pieses
A friend got me Iceborne :3

chest, waist, and gloves are Rose Armor from the full bloom event (this is world btw)
legs are layered Artemis armor, and headpiece is hidden
maxed out Kjarr daggers Ice
they have dog sharpness but they have a lot of elemental and raw
oh shit
you can put custom upgrades on Kjarr daggers
so i can pump even more elemental out of them
my healthbar sometimes has this yellow line around the middle and sometimes it doesn't and i have no idea what it's supposed to indicate
is there a skill that prevents you from dying when you get hit down from above that hp threshold?
felyne moxie from meals
yeah it will be if you got the moxie food skill
getting the improved moxie food skill will move the line a little lower down
if you would be carted by an attack but had a health level above that line before you took the damage, it will save you and then remove the effect
oh neat
Ok so i'm gonna maxout at like 430 ele on kjarr ice with the custom upgrades
Not even counting augments, that's crazy amounts of elemental
Once i add augments it's gonna go stupid hard
Threshold for things like Moxie, or Heroics
Goes even higher with full Safi π
drawn with full safi π . I dont have ele maxed out tho and am running health yoink augment
is it worth it to create dragon weapons for elderseal
i'm not even sure what it does on most elders, shuts down their auras?
it normally like, reduces the potency of whatever their "unique mechanic" is (typically some kind of annoying aura)
but i cant say that i ever felt like i needed it
yeah i haven't really noticed much of a difference using it
if a weapon you otherwise want has elderseal, great! but otherwise it's not really worth crafting for specifically
btw, fun fact about Xu Wu that i discovered today
if you fire ice ammo into its mouth while it has you grabbed, you get a free topple out of it
not sure if this works with other slinger ammo since ice is (iirc) its weakness but it was pretty cool
tyty
"AUGH FUCK BRAINFREEZE"
You should be able to do it. Make sure you've done all side quests?
I might not have done the fish side quest... and I need to catch the sand star...
I dont think it has to be frost ammo, though it does need to be and you can also do this to other grabs from other monsters.
throw tech..
I know throwing knives don't really cut it, and stones are usually nor great, but I suspect it's something along the lines of rock burst, and elemental ammo that the target doesn't resist
Or heavy pods
I once shot an explosion pod down the octopus' throat and he shat himself and rolled over backwards stunned
any advise for catching the sandstar?
so far just having "any non-basic slinger ammo" has worked for getting out of grabs for me but its possible i just coincidentally had the right elements
The dunes, and I think only at night
It might also be locked to a season, but I'm not sure
The area northwest of the oasis. Look where the nitroshroom is by the overhang that Balahara climbs up. It's easiest to find in Plenty, but you'll probably need to reset the area multiple times.
They glow cherekov blue so you'll see it pretty easily, but have a screamer pod ready to stun it or you'll have to chase it.
Yeah I think they're just uncatchably fast without a sonic pod tbh
You CAN do it but you're gonna spend 30 minutes trying to pin it against a wall and then react to the juke!
Northwest of the oasis, righto
Much more north than west
oh sorry, I think I know the confusion. The mystery parts are one rarity lower than the part they award. So rarity 7 mysteries give you rarity 8 parts
you want the red ones
should be the same as what you get from tempered apexes
Honestly, I've seen is spread pretty wide through the dunes
I have created
a critical sleep horn
I had three affinity pieces
gonna test it out
honk shoo
FCUK
FIGHTING TEMPERED ARKVELD
SAW THE FUCKINIOGN
CHASED HIM DOWN
FUCK YOU SHITMOUSE I CAUGHT YOU
The rarity 7 shards resolve to rarity 8 parts
I'll be on this weekend for anyone wanting to group up
I'll show you power of the Horn
thank you, ffdzdf mentioned and I dumped a bunch of stuff in and made an affinity sleep weapon now
And I randomly got the thing I was looking for in a drop just now
ah well
Violence them to sleep
ayyy
woo nice
Jeebus
the bigness
Honestly I've been rolling up to fights with a sleep horn and the paralyzer horn
So I'll start the fight with the sleep horn, usually get at least one or two off, then switch to the para horn for the end of the fight
if I start with the para horn I build up the immunity so fast it doesn't help too much at the end
yeah two statuses seems like a fun use of two weapons
The artian sleep horn also comes with a status effect up song too
Really darn good
finally did enough quests to get 15 VIP tickets, melded them into the tickets needed for this :D
bro is going
iceborne final boss spoilies

i fainted twice right before the VERY end lol
-28800
It's just occurred to me that Shara is an omnivore probably?
Is it okay to mention wilds spoilers unmarked
Possibly? I think at this point things are pretty disemanted
just saw someone wearing full Artemis armor
finally got my full armor set π
that brachydios gave me the pallium i needed
also looking at a guide for DB's
this shit is painfully specific
ain't no way i'm going to be able to do all that
but i can approximate it at least
gives me an idea of what i should be doing
which guide is that? would be curious to take a look at it

tyty
Ye i am seeing
eh I will prob just chill in full safi
but very cool guide i shall keep
i've been considering full safi
but it seems kind of annoying to upkeep
and i stow my db's way too much to really be compatible with it
tbf there is a relative easy way around it. I can boot up worlds to show what I am running
aight
