To the degree it seems almost 100% certain they saw trailers before the trialers went live type deal. There's also a bunch of datamined stuff - like a full on nest area for Lagiacrus that's partially in the game, just not accessible - that implies Lagi and Steve were very close to release, and got cut very late in dev ||

||Reading this, I get the impression that Zin might actually have been intended for TU1 in the very early stages, alongside Mizu, but got pushed back to much later in order to use Steve and Lagia to fill in more recent TUs. Zin, being the most popular monster according to official Capcom polls, they probably wager could be used later on in the games lifecycle because he will be a big boost. Zoh being apparently always planned to come back as TU makes me more confident in my cynicism, unfortunately||

Speaking as an optimizer, and as someone who's very good at games, I find a lot of the meta chasing incredibly silly.
You should understand it, and the context behind it - monster hunter is always going to be a game that favors offense over defense (because of various mechanics).
But unless you're actively the best at the game, the 5% might not do much for you vs some comfort skills

Just as an example of this actually: in breath of the wild/tears of the kingdom, the "best" armor is the set that gives you the bone damage bonus, so you can eat for attack up.
But it's super restrictive. Especially if you want to super optimize and use gerodo weapons as well.
Or, you can just wear attack up armor, use the highest tier normal bases, and slap silver monster parts (ideally silver label) on them.
90% as strong, dramatically easier to maintain
More than enough to brutalize anything you come across

SLicing pods just do a bunch of cutting damage, i dont know if they have any bonus to cutitng tails.
Piercing rewards you for firing them "Down" or "Across" the monster depending on what has more mass. (generally sending them int othe skull and down the stail gets al ot of damage)
Explosion Pods will do 80 on a direct hit... but they arc, and after a short itme, they fragment, and every single hit will do 80 form the fragments

On the plus side when you get to a highe enough HR you can use existing decos to fuel medling for higher rarity decos (I forget when you get it, but it'd be before 100 since that's when you unlock the final melding upgrade)

The downside is that a lot of the common decos are worth fuck all.
thankfully a lot of the junk 3 slot decos are worth 120 points
so you can convert 1 of those into 1 t3 weapon deco/2 aqrmor decos

Worlds captures were just the funniest thing. You beat the shit out of the monster, but you donโt kill it. You get a ton of materials from the monster. Then you go into a gladiatorial arena and THEN kill the monster but maybe you donโt and you just restart the cycle which is even funnier.

I was gathering and just tested the Brightmoss against a random rath and this actually works. Pretty crazy stuff. Only caveat is that you need to hit the monster in the head to make them fall.

For context you use the same amount of meter to apply a coating, and you get that much meter back when you perfect dodge an attack, so while they are weaker that are still tactical in how that attract arrows to the target part and it becomes a matter of knowing when to use them and being aggressive enough to refund that meter like how you would coatings anyway.
