I remember this being a trend a while ago
no wait this wasn't a trend
this was just some guy on YT buying 9,999 binoculars
FUCK
at the very least
yeah 😔
the consequences of 10x items on the steamworks
I'm crashing the economy of seliana and astera
HUH
I feel like I belong in Yharnam
Oh yah!
like look at this thing and tell me it ain't some trick weapon
I mean it is a Switch Axe
true, but the ||Shara Ishvalda|| Swaxe really does feel like a trick weapon
more than the other ones
tho it is a bit too bright for Bloodborne's aesthetic
Fair
With an active volcano
If Gogmazios can somehow sneak into Dundorma and eat a bunch a gunpowder without anyone catching wind of what it is, then yeah, I think a 257.64 meter tall world turtle with a volcano on its shell can easily evade the Research Commission
these motherfuckers have zero observational skills
exactly my point
yeah apparently
The Average Egg Quest:

Yeah... diablos is a bitch to fight
And that's not counting the actual bitch diablos "subspecies"
Its technically a female diablos in heat, and is a whole lot more angry
Diablos's animations have pretty short warnings, I'm pretty sure it's still using animations from older games.
Diablo is a fun fight for lance imo
Giant Dino flies out of the sand at you. Shield up. No.
Diablos is not a fun fight for Insect Glaive, though, I remember. For instance, its charging hitbox is much taller than it should be. And you have to farm it for the ice glaive… it’s etched into my memory.
I run guardup and guard3~ for comfort
I'm the unhinged player who has at least 2 different weapon styles kept at or close to max level, so if I ran into a monster that I couldn't best with my current gear, I'd just switch and hope the other playstyle worked out
I've got like... Longsword, Switch Axe, and Hunting Horn as my primary weapons, tho HH has been falling off as one of my mains
I barely play HBG and stopped using Charge Blade since I entered the elder dragon territory in Master Rank
Gunlance remains my go-to "either I win or time out" button, but LS and SA seem like they should shred
Swaxe is all about damaging it out, but has ZERO forms of evasion or defense
LS has a lot of mobility, but its damage isn't swaxe tiers of good and no defense 😔
besides like
Foresight Slash and Iai Spirit Slash
Try Hammer, it's remarkably mobile and bonking monsters is enormously satisfying
There is nothing more satisfying in all of MHW than sliding in to the spinning jump attack and smashing a Radobaan to splinters
GOOD LORD?
Great scott!
this was my third time hunting it
Good stuff
VALSTRAX IS REAL
Quoting Dexerto (@Dexerto)
Meteor in the sky seen in Portugal
Valstrax theme is such a banger
This rise or world? I quite liked Diablo with cb in rise, the wireskills were very abuseable
world
Yeah I don;t remember much about that matchup in world
This year marks Monster Hunter's 20th anniversary. To celebrate, Capcom is bringing two games to PS4 on June 14
🐱 Monster Hunter Stories: Join forces with your Monstie to conquer beasts
🪽 Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin: Use the Roar skill to get enemies off your tail
IT HAPPENED AGAIN
L + Ratio + No Molies + Capture Net Bungled + You Fell Off + Skill Issue
Anyway, is it viable to hunt an Alatreon with an elemental Hunting Horn?
cause I heard somewhere that the performance shockwaves and the impact wave don't deal elemental damage
I don't necessarily think shockwaves or impact waves would do elemental
Though you should google it
They do not deal elemental damage
darn
Well. Take 1 into Brachydios went better than I expected. 2 carts and sub-10 minutes left but I capped the stupid snot monster
Yes, you can absolutely do it with horn. Horn spin should be your main attack. Shockwaves and impact waves do not do elemental.
But will they help knocking it down?
or does Alatreon have some bs immunity to getting hit in the face and suffering a concussion?
It does not
Spin doesn't do a ton of impact damage but you can supplement with super slam or golf swing in between each spin
And that'll rack up some stun
ahh I see
just avoid using performances and impact waves as your main source of DPS
gotcha
Performances do great stun, I wouldn't completely discount them
yup, and keep in mind elemental horns with element up songs will really crank out the damage
gotcha, thank you!
I've got a little over 3 hours of free time if there's anybody interested in hunting together. Please ping me, as I'm not constantly monitoring this channel :)
anyone down to play?
@umbral osprey if you're still around, I'm down
anyone down to play?
sure, i'm on my day off, what is your progress tho? i haven't reached end game IB yet
if you don't mind me bringing a friend im good to play whenever
no time like right now i guess, vc?
Monster Hunter Wilds is an action-RPG that lets players freely explore a living world and experience best-in-class combat as they take down fearsome monsters alongside friends.
Monster Hunter Wilds comes to PlayStation 5 in 2025.
#MHWilds #MonsterHunter
putting it here
https://www.monsterhunter.com/wilds/en-uk/
The website is updated with some information too
Specifically:
- You can take two weapons and swap them while on the mount
- Every map is going to cycle between "nice and welcoming" and "scary and dangerous" in some way
- There's more than one map (no open world, good imo)
- Slinger is back
- Some kind of new camera option I don't quite understand
is the last one Focuse Mode?
i'm speculating it's a resource gated enhancement
like, spend resource to get into focus mode, and instead of one dot to lock on, get dots corresponding each distinct zone to lock onto
YOOOO
or like, have hit zones highlight for you if you're a ranger
i'm so fucking down with the slinger's return though
the clutch claw was imo a failed experiment, but the base game slinger fucks
I like the slinger yeah, and it means (as shown on the site) more environmental traps and such which I enjoy
and the fact that it's got a baby clutch claw specifically to gather resources and rocks is peak
you can still shoot hanging rocks onto people's heads
the smith is cute though
although the leg perspective on these characters is fucked
in their big portraits
looks like they've been scrunched down
love the ponytail
same
huge sucker for ponytails in general tbh
especially these like
massive flowing floofy tails
apparently going to be more Wilds stuff next friday at Summer Games Fest
fuck yes
hope we get to see something about that presumed baby pukei
god i love monhun so fucking much
enrichment of the goddamn soul
i do wonder
if weapon switching requires something like interacting with the mount
or can be done more ad-hoc
the former is way more reasonable, for sure
it seems to be tied to the mount
I am curious how it will work because armour skills are usually pretty specialised and wouldn't incentivise having two very different weapons
PROBABLY allows for armor swap too
I wonder if the armors are going to have like
different skills active per weapon
or some insane shit
"fukkit all armors are cosmetic and you just sew different mon parts for skill"
based
Man the aesthetic is so strange to me
Curious about the shield weapons, given how much the sword was blocking
And that it seemed to be holding off enemy attacks, rather than just having block frames
the greatsword can block, it just ruins your sharpness and usually isnt a very good idea
gameplay in these trailers is usually engineered to look cinematic and not represent how you'd play for real :p
Sure
anyone down to play right now?
Did they voice the Palicos
Greatsword users winning big on the wild trailer
isn't GS usually the trailer weapon?
I wonder how their gonna balance being able to use items and potions while moving at faster than sprint speed with your mount
WILDSSSSSSSSSSSSS
It's been a while since i saw a game with save data bonuses
capcom would definitely be one of the ones that still do this
Oh my GOD I can have the ADORABLE ICEBORNE ARMOR YESSSSSSSSSSSSS
if those are it, shame no bonus for having stories 2 and rise
Monster Hunter Wilds makes its next appearance at Summer Game Fest 2024 on June 7th!
Learn more in this special message brought to you by the game's producer - Ryozo Tsujimoto, the executive director/art director - Kaname Fujioka, and the director - Yuya Tokuda as they look back on the release of the 1st Trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds on May ...
probably the same as how you could do that in Rise
Yeah I'm glad to see that "open world" seems more to just mean that you can just stay in a zone and start new hunts without having to go back to the hub
Or even that the hub itself will sort of move around
i'm imagining it'll just be like World, yeah
huge sprawling zones that you can go on Expeditions in
and not have to leave
Also I really fuck with that goofy frog gorilla thing, even though I know his gear is going to be useful for like twenty minutes in all likelihood
The art direction of this feels very different from previous monster hunters, even world which was trying to be relatively more grounded overall
The wording on the Playstation Blog is "swap weapons" not "swap equipment" which probably means armor will stay the same, meaning either you'll need to plan out which weapons you can swap to or the skills normally unique to blademaster/gunner armors will need to be combined again to keep certain efficacies. Not impossible, but could affect builds in interesting ways.
yeah unless there is some corresponding change to armour skills it seems like you'd most strongly want to just... keep two different variants of the same weapon
but I will assume there probably are changes to armour skills that we don't know about :p
This is a HUGE discovery, there's a secret new monster in the trailer! Enjoy!

Monster Hunter Wilds is the next new monster hunter game with incredible new Monster Hunter Wilds gameplay with all the Monster Hu...
If it's hinted at again but still not revealed on Friday it'll probably be the mascot for this game
A snake wyvern leviathan $lag ship sounds fun!
Ah yeah flagship, couldn't remember the word people like
Was tempted to say "box legendary"
The last couple flagships have been elders so I am kinda hoping the next one isn't
Outnumbered, but not outgunned.
Turn the tables on attacking monsters with a swift transition to mounted combat on your Seikret, enabling you to immediately swap to a secondary weapon of your choice.
#MHWilds
Malzeno was a fanged wyvern
Not Malzeno
Uhh
Magnamalo
the real question on everyone's lips.... is lagiacrus back in this one
The question on my lips that I'm shouting from the rooftops is "did they revert hunting horn"
I tried so hard to like the new one in Risebreak but it's just not even close to the same
get on my horse and pull out my gun to blast a monster
hunting horn might be important in a game where you have two weapons and an apply buffs before switching to something else 😅
Rise was made by the portable team (GU/XX was what they made before Rise), and Wilds is probably keeping the World version of HH.
Based on the movements of a background monster during the bear attack they very well could be
I really enjoyed the GU iteration of horn, double notes are a really cool idea and I wish they just refined that a bit for Rise maybe. I know the rework was supposed to bring in new users since HH is consistently in the running for dead last as far as weapon usage goes, but the rework didn't help. Short term increase in new horn users but sharply dropped off to pre-rework levels pretty quickly
New users didn't stick with it and old users felt alienated by the weapon changing so completely. I do hope that we at least get Worldborne horn back, it was at least very fluid
World horn was definitely more interesting. I enjoyed Rise's horn, but ultimately did most of the game with bow
rofl gaijin hunter audibly thirsting for gemma in his video: https://youtu.be/_4AY9icwwIY
In this video we check out the latest trailer shown at the SONY State of Play on May 30!
so i'm hearing that the new smith is Little Miss Forge from MH4?
speculation but people are convinced
i kinda hope it's real, but i'm not super holding my breath
that said, if it is her, i hope we get to see some of the other members of the caravan show up
well you know who everyone wants if they break THAT ice
i didn't know there were that many ace palico fans out there /j
They already broke that ice in World
oh yeah. the Ace Cadet was in World
how did they handle it in rise?
if you brought your dog on a hunt, you could mount it with pretty minimal delay, then use items while it ran around
where you got to bring two pets with you in a solo hunt, one in duos (and trios?), none in a four player hunt
god I'm so fucking excited for Wilds
did they give monsters greater speed or range to keep up with that?
not for the most part
tbh it didn't come up very often when I played. If you needed to get away from the monster it usually made more sense to wirebug away.
most monsters in rise really can't catch up to you
wirebugs, dogs, and occasional movement abilities
ngl ace palico is god tier but we all know if there's a guildmarm reveal it'll be in the big hype trailer at a major event
The whole crew of the capital c caravan is a delight
Guildmarm has never been topped
hm
a thought occurs
if we're getting like
these sand skiffs, mounts in a current-gen hardware game, and a bigass desert
...jhen moran return?
That's one hope
Lagiacrus (and general leviathan-in-water physics in the current engine) is my big hope
I really fucking want a current-gen abyssal lagi fight
Based on the one sand lizard that moves like a Leviathan in the sand, plus with the time they would have saved using World as a base, I'd be surprised if they didn't bring in more unique monsters
Leviathans and Bugs
if I can get lagiacrus and namielle in the same game I'll pog my fuckin nog
Wouldn't hold my hopes for Namielle, since Elders don't often make return appearances
not often, but it's not just limited to gen 1 privilege
although I constantly wish we'd get more interesting elders in the gen 1 slots
no, I don't want kirin and teostra in every game
Kirin I don't mind so much since it's the introduction to how weird Elders can be
Kinda like how every gen has the first big monsters to introduce you to how different they can behave from the small guys
sure but they can do that with a new one
exceedingly glad that World returned Alatreon
even if i'm not a fan of the monster's fight, i'm always happy to see old faces
but like, between alatreon in world and valstrax in rise, we have gotten Elders from gens 3+ in later entries
oh, and gore/shagaru magala in rise as well
I am still disappointed we didn't see the Shagaru's in Iceborn.
so i'm not gonna rule out jhen moran, ceadeus, gogmazios, nakarkos, namielle, vaal hazak, etc.
magalas in iceborne would've been cool, but at least they're in sunbreak
i do hope World was popular enough to give its final bosses a recurring presence at some point, though
i.e. the fatalis treatment
like, it's the most sold capcom game ever
but i'm not sure anything's enough to kick the ever-present weight of tradition in some places
and god do i fucking adore shara ishvalda
and its equipment
huge fan of the designs of every gen 4 and nearly every gen 5 Elder
malzeno doesn't really wow me and zorah, while compelling in theory, was very lackluster and just kinda too similar to dire miralis
and dalamadur's fight is...resoundingly okay
but its design is great, and i fucking adore nakarkos, gogmazios, gore magala, namielle, velkhana, shara, gaismagorm, nergi, kulve
the list goes on
I'd be surprised if Shara appeared, if only because it was tied in to the story so much, what with the earthquakes and all
You say that but they did bring back the magalas
True
I think the bigger problem with Shara is that it's goddamn gigantic, such that I don't know how it would work outside of a special arena
Also that
But then they also brought back Alatreon which you only fight in its own arena
God
With 3 phases
The Fatalis fight in World FUCKED
Especially that last bit when Proof of a Hero kicks in
IKR?!
But I wouldn't expect it outside of a special addition later on like Alatreon or Fatalis unfortunately
Because Shara's theme is fucking incredible
And I'm sad we'll never hear it again
It's so cool I used it for a Tarrasque encounter!
Which boss wyverns are the most edible in your opinions
black diablos, if she counts
Uncertain, as I get the feeling that Elder Dragon meat would be difficulty to prepare safely given the nonesense they can do innately
But you know who would be the least edible? Vaal Hazaak
Fucking undead motherfucker gonna kill you before you swallow
you cannot eat elder dragon meat
they are full of elemental energy
which is not safe for consumption
Maybe the moose in iceborne?
i'm not sure banbaro would be great
feels like if you want a muscly herbivore you go with diablos and its cactus-eating ass
Kulu Ya Ku seems like a decent bet
Dalamadur
Isn't black diablos's whole deal that she's in heat and changed color as a result
I can't imagine meat so full of hormones is gonna taste good
Anyway, I vote pukei pukei
Sure it produces toxins, but its diet primarily consists of nuts, which I'd imagine would help make it taste better
Prolly be like fugu
most of the athletic predators probably aren't going to taste that great
but maybe the hunter is onto something by eating aptonoth steaks every day several times a day
plesioth might plausibly be good, or gobul
I could see Paolumu being tasty although there's less meat on it than you might hope
Bulldrome is an obvious candidate
I'd certainly try Zamtrios or Tetsucabra legs (may or may not be due to me craving frog legs)
Ok I just saw the in the field quest system or whatever, I think I have to give it a shot when it comes out
gammoth meat...
drip with the squad
Love it
My slump is officially over and I am on the comeback trail. Got a clean tempered lunastra tonight and I am going to be playing more this week
Damn just got to MR for the first time on PC in World and I am once again reminded of how terrible they made the seething bagel armor
I mean, stat wise. It looks great, though I wish there was still a regular bazel version in MR too
hmm
I just remembered
I was making a document about how to eat and cook various monsters from world
currently doing the base game's small monsters, sans felynes
...sans felynes.
This sucks
i made it slightly worse, I think
Something something bad time
Finally I can date a Rathian.
you have to fight hers seven evil ex-rathalos'
azure, silver, dreadking, apex, ffxiv, smash, monhun

...
New Trailer - Lighting dragon in there, which i i'm guessing is the flagship. looks cool!
also simulateinous pc/console release and CROSSPLAY
I do hope we retain 'incoherent grunting' as a language option
i presume hunter language is not going away anytime soon
Voice acting is fine and all it's just super distracting for me in MH particularly, idk
i'm just resisting change on that end
'Whoa, it's spitting water!' sure is hon, thank you
Those new leviathans really remind me of several species of polychaete worms, especially their mouths. Definitely my favorite of the new monsters we currently know about (what can I say, I like worms).
I actually really like the lightning dragon just from seeing its horns act as a conduit
Though it does look a little zinogre-ish from what we've seen
Yeah, it looks pretty cool!
Oh that lightening dragon is so cool, looks like a flagship style mon
It does look to have the same skeleton (or at least very similar), so there is hope. Agnaktor is so good I miss it
oughhhhhh I cannot wait for the demo
continues to huff Lagiacrus themed copium
I was going through the frames and the electric monster (seems to be a flying wyvern?) appears to have a jutting chin (this is of note to me cos it's a really common design trait I use in my monster designs). Really like its horns as well, fun shapes in them
TBF these sand wyrms having that movement does lend evidence that we will see more Leviathans at least
Hopefully also some big ol' bugs
God I hope we get more big bugs
It has been a while since we got some big ol bugs, hasn’t it
Big ol' Bugs that generate Gundam Armor, such boons
God there's a very specific species of polychaete that Balahara's mouth reminds me of, but I can't remember the name. Definitely in the subclass Errantia but other than that, I'm not sure. Maybe a bloodworm relative?
wait a fucking moment
those tiny blue things lining its mouth
those can't be eyes, can they?
like clam eyes
look like eyes
like clam eyes
I cannot get over the sound design either
especially that new flying wyvern
God I think Balahara might end up replacing Gigginox as my favorite monster, or at least they'd be tied
It seems like that the worms I am reminded of when seeing this wonderful beast's jaws are both bloodworms and several species of scale worm
They also have Clam Eyes!
Oh I see it now
and here I thought they were blind
Yeah! My biology autism is having such a good time with this
WOOO
It feels more like a Resident Evil monster somehow?
Idk
The new monsters feel TOO realistic to me somehow
hewwo. hammer is still my favorite. i hope Wilds keeps the Brave Stance Hammer
I never hammered much. How does brave stance work?
Balahara is cool it reminds me of different types of invertebrates
Well if we wildly speculate based on the gameplay we say before there may be some equivalent way to pull that off.
Unrelated to the above https://youtu.be/_HeVa2VKh_Y?si=qwETiusSOjSdqQGB

Monster Hunter Wilds is the next new monster hunter game with incredible new Monster Hunter Wilds gameplay with all the Monster Hunter W...
It’s the alt-stance for hammer that’s about chaining charges together rather than one long charge. It makes it easier to stay mobile and get consistent pressure on the monster i find!!
But you don’t get the Full Charge Swing, just a Follow Up from your Uppercut
Honestly what I'm hoping for is some kind of talk about some of the weapon changes we saw. Maybe not a full deep dive but an overview, if only to get confirmation or denial on some of my stupid speculation.
there'll be a floor demo at an event in August apparently
In Germany
so some questions about gameplay will probably be answered by media people
IIRC the way Brave worked in Gen/Ult was if you charged immediately after throwing out the charge attack you could progress to the next level of charge.
Yeah basically
Oh boy, fingers crossed for the detail oriented peeps like GaijinHunter
the legendary elemental hammer build...
Gaijinhunter already hates Wilds lmao
I love it in Rise especially
It's not "rustic" enough
hey man i think that’s like
idk he seemed perfectly happy with it last i saw
I am not really seeing it tbh
Had to go digging for it
i dont really get whats so weird about a dog bear, very normal big animal
For some reason I'm surprised to see something from RGV here...dunno why
I kinda see what he means, these definitely are a departure from raptors and bears which are the usual starting monster fare
Even in World it was a giant lizard and a T-Rex
The bear is very Star Wars to me, but that’s charming
Im just mad at these critiques cuz Im overwhelmingly happy the new monsters are actually monsters other than wyverns
I'm sure we'll have something to brazenly tackle us midfight
Plus it could be part of the environental story telling, like the ones we've seen up to now were just the ones people could deal with when settling down. Now we're running into the bad mamajamas that ain't got time for that.
Since we're entering the Forbidden Lands and such
Nobody's going to like all of the new monsters
New frog does have Rancor energy though
Personally haven't seen any to _dis_like yet though, very appealing animals
Yeah, I imagine the fights will help bring people together on them
For better or worse
What variety of Fish shall we get
okay well you’re allowed to disagree with someone, just like. say you disagree like you did here instead next time yeah?
it’s news about a game, no need to get heated
Bleh okay
I'm just very passionate about MH and this happens every time a new game comes out in either direction and it's frustrating
Can't we just enjoy the speculative biology
Sometimes you just gotta slot in some Evade Window and roll with it
I hope we get multiple food animations
maybe instead of looking for a fight, just like. accept others differences in taste, yeah?
as much as I like the new creatures my enjoyment isn't really predicated on everyone else liking them
frankly, they're already in the game so if I like them then I've already "won"
I'm not necessarily looking for a fight per se
Twitter just kinda dumped it on my lap
and you decided to pass it on? :p
yeah exactly
posting something cause it makes you mad doesn’t really, do anything useful
not for here at least
It doesn’t help the vibe, yeah
Fair enough
Regardless I disagree with his opinion. I think the monsters look great, as they seem to be properly adapted to their environment and uniquely fill an ecological niche. Balahara reminds me of a polychaete or a bobbit worm so much, and the scallop-like eyes it has adds to how unique it is, as well as to add to the fact it doesn't have proper eyes cuz it's subterranean.
I shouldn't have come out swinging here but the trailer just dropped and I was so excited to see a leviathan, I just kinda got really annoyed by someone calling a really unique leviathan "too sci-fi"
Like ughghhhh I dont want another fish but for sand please just let me have a weird wormy guy
I need to be clear: you don't need to come out swinging
gaijinhunter might be a big personality but he's also ultimately just some guy
his opinion doesn't ultimately matter
the monster is already in the game for you to enjoy
he actually can't prevent you from having the worm guy, it's in there
Seeing other people express their dislike of this monster makes me feel invalid for liking it though
As always, my opinion is the only objectively correct one
why are you complaining about someone disagreeing with you, it’s tilting at windmills
I don't want to be like... too dismissive here but that is a problem you will have to work on 😅
this is me telling you to stop posting like that
people are going to have different opinions from you like, constantly
Not to invalidate your feelings, but that sounds like a you problem that you may want to address to avoid such outbursts in future.
you need to be confident in your own beliefs
I'm confused on something about the Balahara
Is it...small monster?
Large monster?
It seems to be a large monster
Medium monster?
large monster
Huh...
But this game seems to have a feature where you can sometimes be attacked by quite large groups of large monsters, how you deal with this or if they're just weaker is not yet totally clear
Yeah I was about to say
(see also in the first trailer, begin attacked by four copies of the dog bear whose name I can't recall, haven't commited any of them to memory yet)
Pack tactics
I don't think you're being too dismissive; I fully understand. I'm just explaining why I acted the way I did
There were apparently a lot of Balahara during the cutscene
We don’t need you to explain, we need you to correct. The “yes i get it” was a good answer and could’ve been the end, but you kept doing a pattern we recognize as Last Word-ing, which is a behavior we want people to avoid. Thank you for your apology
Now I am imagining a gigginox pack, so much poison and giggis
i am don’t play me i got so many sushifish
Everytime a new one shows up the theme restarts and they keep trying to invading monster each other because it's all they know
That just put the mental image of a group of Valstrax flying in formation like a bunch of fighter jets in my mind.
“Ready in the front, ready in the back? Here we go!”

This ...
Sorry
How many explosive scales would a Bazelgeuse flock drop onto the hunters below?!
Enough
I have to hope and believe that Bazel is territorial and doesn't like having a lot of friends
God yeah
No, the theme doesn't restart, it just adds an overlapping song for each Seregios in the fight
Oh god not multiple bazels
I bet somebody will make a mod for that once it releases
I hope it becomes an invader again like in base world
Hm
I guess I have to pick a weapon to carry along with hammer
That's gonna be interesting
and is basically hammer
I managed to capture a bazel right after fighting the pukei that introduces you to high rank while still using low rank equipment, god that was stressful (was a new save)
I'll probably use lance and heavy bowgun
I really wonder how mounted combat is gonna work too
probably not all that differnt from palamutes
Based on what little we see, probably a limited move set
One or two hits, no real comboes
I noticed that in the two gameplay trailers, the movement of the Seikret was different depending on if you were aiming with the bowgun
IINM the HBG was using burst fire while grounded bu single shots while mounted? Though I could be misremembering
Honestly my main hope is that there's still a pause functionality. I love world, but sometimes I need to watch Smokey eat or give him attention and I can't do that when I'm in the middle of a hunt if I can't pause
Yeah Bazel is pretty great
I hope Glaive retains that torpedo switch skill from Sunbreak, Kinsect Slash...
It felt much more fun that Advancing Slash
Ooo yeah the pause function was pretty nice
Do y'all think the Wilds hubs are gonna be 4 players or 16 players? Or somewhere between?
Personally I hope for 16, or at least more than 4, because the hubs felt so much more alive with that...
Gotta lock in
I assume you'll probably be able to disperse them with traps or scatternuts
The packs of large monsters
Or they'll just be lower level monsters that a stronger hunter can effectively deal with
Like a pack of great jagras wouldnt be too much sweat
the first trailer showed them using the slinger to split monsters up with the environment, although it also just showed you fighting three monsters at once so who knows
The guy you are with in the second trailer said to go for the rocks so maybe some monsters won't go to certain areas and you can use some like real hunting tacticstm to drive your prey away from its comrades
What new World or Rise monsters are people hoping make a comeback/expecting to?
I've never used any Namielle equipment but I'm still hoping they return just because the design is so good
Also I think my weapon set up is probably going to default to hammer and longsword, for smashing horns and cutting tails respectively
Id that a sand lagiacrus
Honestly I figure regular legiacrus is going to make an appearance, the sand worm guy that got revealed seems to have exactly the right skeleton for him
based gigginox enjoyer
IF Lagiacrus is coming back, as Balahara has a pretty convincing skeleton, then Namielle must come back IF there's water combat
if there isn't... hmm...
Legiana?
Legi or Odogo are both probably pretty good bets for returning, honestly, if this is also set in the new world
They would also fit well with the new art direction
🤔 Odogaron seems... odd. Since I can't really see it existing outside of the Rotten Vale
same with Radobaan
Ebony Odogaron, however...
i think radobaan is an easier stick than base odogaron
because all it needs is a location with a lot of skeletons, and a few monhun games have had Old Battlefields or Big Swamps
Dunno, odogaron could definitely exist beyond the Vale, but I doubt there's a ton of places a radobaan could find bones
Or at least bones suitable for its size
I could see them doing a variation of the rotten vale, like some kind of Wyvern boneyard or something that's drier and more deserty
Unless it like, actively hunts down other monsters and makes carrion nests to let the meat rot off so they can snag the bones
...that is metal as FUCK, I wanna see that now
I also want to see Nakarkos come back with a better fight because that would look incredible with the new graphics
And honestly I'm still shocked they made an entire environment out of bones and never had it return
But I guess it needs its own particular arena
Like a dusty fossil valley maybe instead of a rotting carrion one
Equal parts the elephant graveyard from the lion king and the actual Egyptian valley of the kings
He's so great and so damn funny
Honestly I hope they start bringing back Bazel more than Jho
If anything, make Bazel even more menacing. Make him even bigger
bazel with a dragonator for a tail
I like both Bazel and Jho
so i'm fine with w/e
though ithink giving Jho a break in RIse was vey sensible
Really, Great JAggi needs to come back (he does not)
but i still love the reason he got retired for a while was because he was being punched too much
Just absoloutey bullied
I'd like Great Maccao to come back
I suspect they're going to keep doing new Great monsters for a while, though Maccao is definitely my top pick for a return. It's design is just so slick, it would also fit in relatively well with the new art direction too
Something I noticed rewatching the trailer is that the new lightning Wyvern actually gets struck by a bolt before redirecting it, rather than generating it itself
Yeah, seemed unlikely to be an elder since it has the flying wyvern body type
I'm almost betting on the new lighting Wyvern being the mascot
I'm assuming it's the flagship, yeah
hyped as fuck about balahara though
the leviathan skeleton in the current-gen engine is huge
If it's not that raises the bar for what the flagship is considerably
idk, most of the games have had some really impressive non-flagships
i don't think it's a raised bar, so much as like
odd use of foreshadowing if it's not
considering it's been teased but isn't registered on the website
i'm thinking of jho and barioth in tri, anjanath and legiana in world, chameleos in dos, etc.
TBF Jho and Chameleos are in a unique category by nature
sure
there are just a lot of those "unique category" monsters
i assume this is going to be the flagship, but i wouldn't be flabbergasted if it wasn't
but i would be surprised, because of the narrative weight it's got in the teaser
They could also do a multiple flagship thing like they did for Generation with the Fated Four
It also got struck by a bolt after
electricity is one of those ones where they like explaining how the monster can do it so "is a lightnng rod" is fun
"attracts lightning bolts" is very on theme for what we've seen of the first biome. I bet you there'll be some lore about the ancient lightning rods being inspired by the lightning wyvern
There's also still questions about the giant ring, which seemed to be conducting some electricity of its own
Plus we've already seen the lightening rod armadillos
I'm willing to bet sandstorms generating lightening is going to be the why of it at least
all I'm going to say regarding this, in my inexpert opinion, is that I love Legiana and Odogaron... even if they're somewhat strongly tied to their home locations.
I have a friend whose favourite monster is (I think) Odogaron so I would like to see it back for their sake
as long as i get jho back i'll be a happy camper
I think jho's been in every game since its debut
probably won't change now
oh wait
it might not've been in rise
but it's definitely in 4, world, and genU
i'm mostly hoping for new monsters made to fit the style they've got going on gameplay wise, but i wouldn't mind if they fixed gammoth and made it an actual fight
jho was decidedly not in risebreak.
Jho with Rise pace would be horrifying
Jho was not in Rise nor Sunbreak
I'd love to see Gigginox and Gobul return, Nibelsnarf would be nice too
Dalamadur fans unite
imagine, a game in which they fucking acknowledged gigginox
the objectively better alternative to khezu
Shagaru's aside, could be fun to see Nakarkos again
Ooh yes, absolutely love that cuttlefish
With new skull weapons to account for new monsters
I think we should get a new carapaceon based on decorator crabs
👀
speaking of crabs
how would hermitaurs and ceantaurs taste?
could be the giant ones, or the "less" giant ones
Probably relatively good
probably gr8,,,,
I'd definitely use butter though
Or vinegar if that's your thing
I know some people like seafood with vinegar
Personally, me? A hermitaur dipped in garlic butter sound fantastic
I'd think the larger carapaceons would taste good, albeit tough. Also, according to some account items you can get, their brains are considered a delicacy
probably because you can only get so much gray matter from a single crab
also boiled hermitaur with butter 👀
I had a dream once that Laios and I were hunting hermitaurs
He would so do that
Cold medicine, MH4U, and Dungeon Meshi manga is a helluva combo
i should try the older monster hunters probably i've been playing the shit out of rise and really enjoying it
GenU is probably the best one to play, coming from Rise or World
4U is fun but it is marvelously clunky
I wanna play 4U but I haven't had any luck emulating it
I do have a 3ds so I just kinda...been doing that
i've installed it on my 2dsXL along with some other games
3U and XX with an english patch namely
also GU
highly rare opinion but if you feed me truth serum i might answer GU as the entry i had most fun in
That's a valid opinion
4 has Dalamadur which instantly makes it the best one because Dalamadur is my favourite monster
granted, it just might have to do with GU being the last time i played monhun face to face
and seems like to me monhun w/o face to face is just always going to miss some feel
i'm a bit wary of older titles due to QoL stuff but i am definitely going to be giving a few of them a go
oh yeah pre-world qol stuff that world fixed can chafe quite badly if you don't have the tolerance for it
What do you mean by "face to face"?
as in my party member is in the same physical space as me
monhun's initial popularity in east asia pre-world was largely propped up by the portable games yeah
pretty much the entire reason it got properly popular was due to portable games
World kind of spelled the end of that unfortunately, though Rise did bring it back to a degree on the Switch
tbf the transition is healthier for the franchise due to the decreased focus on portable gaming on non-phone devices
oh yeah no absolutely
never said it was a bad thing
just
a thing
you know?
wish GU had gotten a english release so i could play it and not just XX with a slapdash english patch
suppose i could just emulate it
uhhh
on switch or on pc? cause GU does have an english release
oh yeah
but not for 3ds
oh right
which is where i'd like it to be
i gotcha
it only released as XX in japan
i did managed to make a slapdash english patch version but it keeps asking me to update everytime i launch and i find it annoying
GU my beloved
the epic highs of GU are probably my favorite in the entire franchise...

ah, that actually makes sense
09 and 11, but maybe tri was 10 in its global release
but yeah people have been malding about monhun's identity since tri
dos was enough like 1 to escape it, aiui
Some people got to play already

Love Max so this seems promosing, but it's less of a hardcore monster hunter perspective
With a desert I feel like they must include dalamadur or jhen moran
THEY EVEN SHOWED THE BOATS
if we get Dalamadur it's going to simply be peak
They teased us already with the rotten vale 😔
I hope for tetsucbra 2 seeing as we got its lil cousin in wilds already
Other then that I just hope for world fidelity amatsu
My hottest take atm is that the lighting railgun dragon looks atm to me like a cooler Astalos
mhm mh rise on ps plus
Can you tell me if any of the weapons got a big overhaul, kind of similar to how the Hunting Horn got an overhaul in Rise?
YT: Yeah, so if you had to really answer this briefly, it's really the two Bowgun types. So the Light Bowgun and Heavy Bowgun have received some of the most kind of broad action changes, as well as the Hunting Horn. The Hunting Horn is going back more to a World-basis of the action, but on top of that, it's also introduced a lot of other changes. So we hope you're looking forward to that.
https://www.ign.com/articles/the-monster-hunter-wilds-devs-answer-all-of-our-questions-sgf-2024
Can you play through the story in co-op together seamlessly?
YT: In two player?
Or four. Multiplayer.
YT: What we can say is that, so there are going to be story elements in the game when you're playing that you have to witness in solo mode before you can actually play together. So you won't be able to play perfectly together in sync throughout the story with other players. But we've made it a lot more convenient, and we've introduced new features in the game, so that in the background, you're always connected. And so as soon as you're able to go into a quest together, it matches you up quickly and you can seamlessly go back into multiplayer gameplay. So we've made it a lot more convenient.
And of course, you can also have it "meow, meow, meow" as in previous titles. So you can give it cat-speak in the game if you really choose.
this is the best news i've heard about wilds all week
I really hope that co-op question means they figured out a seamless option compared to World. It reads like they're definitely aware of the complaints, but I wish they went into more specifics.
seems like as people guessed this game is like "expedition-focused"
the hub is literally in one of the maps and you can walk out of it with no loading screen, attacking a monster will automatically start a relevant quest, and defeating one will not return you to camp automatically
also apparently you stand on top of monsters while carving them now instead of clipping inside them :p
this is incredible
mantles are back, and there are sneak attack animations for all weapons now
I was just thinking about that as a fun detail, but it's potentially some pretty interesting technology. Maybe there'll be monsters we stand on while they're alive?
well I believe it is sharing some engine tech with dragons dogma 2 so its not out of the question :p
Palico: "Nyah! Meowster, doshaguma hunt in packs!"
its kind fear ice and fire both
my palico is going to be meowing and everyone else is going to speak monhun language as the gods intended
Will my hunter's constant barks clue me in on monster attacks that would otherwise faint me? sure. Will I find them infinitely less annoying in monhun language? definitely
Just pay attention to the monster's movement
Me performing DB beyblades atop aptonoth corpses 👀 or cut monster tail into using it to jump on monster
if monster corpses are solid I wonder if we're gonna get any that do "play dead" sneak attacks like gypceros
DUAL WEAPON ATTACK
Monsters can destroy temp camps seems cool
I wonder what exactly sneak attack entails
Seamless quests sounds v nice
Power crash must be that end shot from the trailer
How the fuck do you do a HBG GS combo attack
im assuming its some kind of synced sneak attack animation like you get in elden ring or whatever
I wouldn't be shocked if the sneak attack is just a bit damage hit that deals a lot of stagger, but it'll probably tie into the weapon's gimmick a little. Like, I'd be surprised if there wasn't an elemental discharge window or something for the charge blade
I wanna see that HBG GS sync attack 👀
shoot the sword

NOOOOO
i'm so hype for Wilds
I'm so hype that I'm just numb
i'm losing my fucking mind
Two Weapons is so huge in itself, so many Bowguns with.. less than stellar ammo amounts more viable now
Don't have to restock midfight or carry ingredients
Less 'viable' more 'accessible' i guess
one of my favorite things about Monster Hunter is being nightmarishly overprepared
also one greatsword does trick, elemental weaknesses are for lesser weapons
I do think it’ll get me to experiment with more weapons than just greatswords
it's a good time to go absolutely insane
Yeah but what if I need two greatswords
Sometimes there's a Flying Bastard
two weapons means i can have twice as many insect glaives
going to become attain vtol status
I do a little thing called jumping
gonna have TWO rotors
Desperately pleading with the bird-horse to not eat the insect from the glaive
Bird horses can have some insect glaive users instead as a snack
they cannot
So where did the chocobos come from
desert
Do you think they’ll be edible?
And do you think we can bring both a birb and a cat into multiplayer hunts?
Id imagine Seikrets are less like palamutes and therefore probably don't fuck with balance
If the maps are truly twice the size of world and you don't have wirebugs to take shortcuts, it would suck to be forced to choose
I always tend to take a palico bc I like taking in the scenery
I wonder if the reason they've only shown load outs with bowguns is because it's the iconic ranged weapon to contrast with great sword as the iconic melee weapon, or if it's tied to the bowgun changes
One could argue the "iconic" ranged weapon is bow
Could be they wanted to go with the big heavy equivalent for theming
I for one think the iconic ranged weapon is the gunlance
based and correct
I def am coping but I hope for seltas and queen
Ahtal-Ka in wilds would be a dream but she in wilds/world format seems very unlikely
I know people want returning monsters a lot but tbh I really just wanna see new monsters in relatively unused classifications
Carapaceon cope here
Though I do have a solid bet on Gammoth
I just want a pet nargacuga. It would be very safe, an excellent mobility aid, and super cuddleable
some asshole cutting your tail off is a constant risk
imagine being a weak enough monster that your tail can't even be lopped off
Gnarlycuga
Okay something that had never occured before to me but now I absolutely want to see it eventually is Great Aptonoth or Great Apceros
great aptonoth introduced, it has like 30k HP, does nothing, and you get 5 big raw meat carves from it
GaijinHunter came around, hype train going full steam, whoo whoo! https://youtu.be/ArEpVc9Bpjk?si=gcu9sXvpie7bt_wb

This video actually does have a lot of info
Very informative so far
Bakagaijin
the trailer has got me thinking about everything thats going on in the game, and im wondering exactly how these weapon clashes will be triggered.
that and how exactly the expedition/guiding lands way of hunting monsters is going to work.
-
are we gonna temporarily hunt monster species to near extinction when farming for a specific drop, or will the game hit a minimum and like, spawn some new ones 2 areas over as soon as you land the kill
-
how are rare variant/rare species going to work, is there always going to be one out in the world for you to find, or are you going to have to go on a quest and wait for the populations to randomize again.
I wager that any time you get a quest for a specific monster it will spawn in but if you don't have a specific quest for it it will be random
I both hope and dread an over hunting mechanic, purely because of how frustrating MH drop rates can get as it is
Trying to farm a Rathalos mantle when there's a finite number of Rathalos per instance sounds like a nightmare
I could see they integrating the lure thing from guiding lands into normal expeditions maybe
The lures basically being the specific missions mayhaps
I'll bet it's monsters spawning in as you take missions 100%
The rare drop chances exist to keep playing the game, Capcom wouldn't be so stupid as to punish that very behaviour
made some new drip to go with my Hermitaur Insect Glaive
lookin pretty sweet
Fuck it
Green Rathalos
All the Rathian you're used to, but now it won't come down to the fucking ground
what is the gajalaka sketch used for
it says to show it to the smithy but talked to the smithy and nothing happened.
A turn-based strategy MH game would be peak
took me like a dozen times to beat barioth on my first character i got to icebourne, restarted on pc and beat him on my second attempt. And the first time i barely made it to his sleeping state before capturing him. This time i went to capture, realized i forgot to pack tranq bombs, and went "fuck it, lets go for the slay", and finished with mega pots to spare, which i absolutely did not the first time.
god it feels good
after you learn the moveset and breaking the forelegs it feels so good to fight
he has such a tendency of bringing himself right to where you want him if you can give yourself the right distance.
The real trick to MonHun is get gud, and it was well before Dark Souls got memed about it.
i have simply learned the skill of living as long as possible
which lets me win by attrition against most any monster
"The trick monsters don't want you to know about" restock in tent
trueeeeee
Barioth was fucking awful fighting it the first time
It still kinda sucks to fight but at least I managed to get the little fucker's attack patterns down
god i like
hate the steamworks like concepually
its just a slot machine
when the game recognizes that your doing nothing 60% of the time and gives you a second button to automate what your doing, thats how you know the gameplay is bad
i think the animations are skippable so thats good at least.
based on the title art, I wonder if we'll get a pair of leviathan elders...although that would end up pretty close to Rise's bosses...
Oh did they said Wilds is going to have optional healthbars?
I haven't heard anything of the sort
I hope not personally, I still feel ehhh about damage numbers
damage numbers are fine imo, but healthbars? that seems too much
Agreed, and honestly I'm fine with the damage numbers since they're our only indicator of if we're hitting a good spot or not since the monsters no longer bleed
^^^
If we get blood spurts on weakspot back, then we turn off the numbers
Monster Hunter rise try not to spawn the monster at the other fucking side of the map challenge (ontologically impossible)
genuinely i DESPISE that mhr ALWAYS puts the monster at the absolute fucking furthest point of the map
you have so much space to work with stop fucking making me walk the whole map every godsdamn hunt
Guess I never noticed since I always fast traveled to the closest camp
Yeah. Closest camp + enjoying spider-man time while grabbing birds
don't worry in the next game the maps will have four times as much space for the monster to be displaced from you in 😌
But you'll be able to groove out to the radio while your chocobo taxis you there
Also you can set up temp camps
They can be destroyed but they still work while around
so long as they don't exclusively spawn in the farthest spot from spawn i'm fine
cause like
i've been playing on and off for 3 days
and EVERY SINGLE QUEST has had the monster spawn as far away as basically possible
every
fucking
one
i'm incredibly over it
new fit
is that a hammer or a swaxe?
hammer
I would say it felt more mobile than gunlance but I have blast dash
i'm currently gridning my way through master rank and trying to get to 100 hr so i can fight the monster that you can fight there with my friends
at HR 93 which is good
very close
i do love hitting a monster and breaking three parts in one attack
fighting Ragna Kadaki is nice
i have broken like 20 parts
i feel powerful
I love Rakna Kadaki. great design, great fight, and great upgrades
love standing behind cover and having Magnamalo do his big tail laser and just one-shot me anyway
good stuff
dual blades fit
yooo
No lmao that was a troll
playing with DB a bit and it feels like kind of a cheat code
wish i could get some different silkbind skills though
i don't care at all about tethering myself to a monster
and i really would prefer some kind of attack to another form of dodging
this is why i play world cb
don't have to deal with thinking about that
just hit with sword, put in shield, turn to axe, HIT 'EM DIFFERENT
holy shit
they gave me the ability to slingshot drill monsters and sharpen my weapons mid combat
fuck that's cool
so if i manage my bugs i can actually have like
100% uptime on attacking
cause i can sharpen without disengaging
I'm just waiting to see if we get any of that footage from those hunts I heard some creators got to see at different events
Apparently all the weapons got changes to match better with their identity
oh yeah rise is now up on ps extra
Yeah, Dual Blades in Rise is immensly broken
This is pretty standard for a new generation/game, tbh. I'm looking foward to see what they do because they're wizards with game design.
Tackle being added in rise was so fucking amazing
DB got the fucking cheat code unlocked by default
It really pops off when you get the aerial bounce
and then you learn that thting has iframesx
so if you time it right? POING
Hunting horn revert
yeah, it's nice that HH is going to be fun again
I wonder if you bring two you can stack songs >:|a
hit 'em with the orchestra
I do hope that the echo attacks make a comeback in some way
It basically enabled elemental and status horns
Loved maxing out Slugger Secret, Paralysis Attack, and Stamina Thief. Monster doesn't get to do anything
lookin pretty cool
is that a bow or the widest gauntlets known to man
Gauntlets, Gore Magala has very cool dual blades
oh wait are those the dual blades
Indeed
Yup
Woe, Stygian Zinogre art upon ye
Hammer fun
I need to properly stress test my technique against an actual challenge but I think I might make it my off-main
i still don't know any weapon I vibe with as much as the greatsword
but I might start carrying a bow as off-main
cute bird horse archery

Also i swear except those 15 seconds Safi theme is not that great
Aw damn no Shara theme
Shara's fight leaves a lot to be desired but their theme fucking slaps and it's really unique in monster hunter, the gamelan and shehnai instrumentation hits so hard
First bit of 3D Animation I've ever done, just a test run of Blender, getting used to posing and animating before I make a start on the next main video.
