#Terrarcraft (Minecraft/Terraria and such)

at peak you hit something like 6-8000 roentgen
well
peak i can measure
i think the real peak is in the center of the reactor and i dont want to use my magic book to tunnel to there incase it somehow breaks the multiblock stuff
i really hope you have a hazmat suit
ok i am off for the night, timer had a bit under 9h left on it (dont know if it will tick down or not without anyone on) parts of the area should be briefly survivable otherparts are still very much a drop and run situation
for those that play terraria please try this texture pack out
it's in progress but all pre-hm bosses (except deerclops) are finished

although this gives me an idea
radiation based mob farm
...why was there radiation?
cus onno made an oopsie
I mean who hasn't accidentally devastated an ecosystem in minecraft
I wanted to check out their base and instead my computer and character were both thoroughly cooked
Now I want to go make a dungeon filled with traps and radiation and things
But that sounds like effort
NGL, if I have enough polonium I am probably going to retire the Mekanism reactor
you no doubt do
you just need to process some of it and save the rest for antimatter
the fun part will be dismantling all the radioactive stuff and running things just right to perfectly use up everything, or sitting through another rad field
I have a meka suit now
With all the addons that I wanted
I have a nuke shed to store all the poo
But…. You may have the right idea on making another radiation accident
was frying me once not enough
Sadly Extreme Reactors just aren’t as energy dense as the MEK ones
I could swap the Fissile reactors with Fusions and make a lot more steam
I’m plus I don’t think those explode
A passive cooled reactor of 18x18x18 only makes 240KFe
An 18x18x18 with 6 optimized turbines only makes 140KFe
It can run 12
it's a bout to get toasty for these guys
they're gonna get fuckin blendered
i need to make a few infinity nukes so i can pull a sans
Beginning the decommissioning of the fission reactors
Dismantling one half of the fuel complex
processed all the yellow cake
No rad leaks so far
Oops…
Only 5 Roentgen per min
Well, good news is that I won’t have to worry about another leak so long as the poop shed is left alone
Is this the second time y'all're having issues with radiation?
send help my neighbor is a superfund site
I recommend investing in lead fencing
I don't live on mars so I should be fine
there's a sushi plant under my base now
i'm going to nuke mars
i either joined just before the server reset or i crashed it setting a machine
protip dont set the ad astera cryo freezer thing to output west to a pneumaticraft huge tank
hmmmm i was joining for a second and now cant i hope i didnt break it break it
this whats exactly what i was doing and it crashed as i clicked the button so if a roll back is possible that may be a good idea
in the meantime i will go test that in solo
oh yeah thats what did it
yeah do not set the ad astera cryo freezer to output to anything
lol noted
Yeah I rolled back to the nearest restore point which was like an hour ago
That sucks that you can’t automate that tho
from my single player testing you can have like mekanism pipes pull from it just dont have the machine push
copper go burrrr
obligatory teraria question which has been asked a million times before: do you think they'll ever make an alt-hallow, like how crimson is an alternative to corruption?
no, the game is not really getting new content
That... is false, depending on how you define "content".
I don't think they are gonna get Big content but still gonna get content.
Side note: there is a Minecraft server people are enjoying; if I were to start a Calamity server, who (if anyone) would be interested? And by "server" I probably mean "I play and people join and play alongside me" rather than finding an actual proper server hosting place.
it's getting things on a scale far more minor than "an entire new hallow equivalent"
I think tmodloader multiplayer is kinda busted atm
Yeah... biggest stuff it's getting is lots of new secret seed stuff. Also lot of language/localization work.
it's maybe one of the mods we were using but two of my friends, as well as me and a separate group, have had major desync issues with it
but I did discover today that the game has grebes so that's a win
when do you think we'll get TErraria 2.0
they are at 1.4.5 so when will they go to 2.0
1.4.3 was the final update I'm pretty sure.
so was 1.4.3 and 1.4.4; those were both final updates too. 1.4.5 should come out fairly soon?
er, I meant 1.3 initially, or maybe 1.4? I don't remember.
1.4 was the only one they called the final major update iirc
that said, if it does work, would anyone want to play multiplayer Calamity with me sometime?
I dunno if my timezone aligns with yours, but sure why not
its possible to mix thorium wiht calmity now
Yeah, but I don't trust mod mixing to work well.
What time zone are you? I'm UTC-5 meaning it's 6:15 PM for me right now.
theres a mod thats designed to mix them
I know basically nothing about Thorium, and... even if they're mixed, I don't 100% trust them to mix well, you know? But I think they can go well together... is that something you'd want to do?
ive been playing vs mainly but when i played terraira semi recently i did both and it worked fine
i actully like thorium more
thorium adds some neat new classes to the game
Bard, healer and i forget the third one
just those 2
oh thrower
I've never done anything with Thorium; I've done some calamity but it always feels weird to me to play terraria alone for some unknown reason and I've never gotten a character far enough to get to the real endgame calamity content.
Honestly? Might play/stream some now/soon if anyone would want to watch.
and start yet another new character/world but whatever, it's fun to have a fresh start
I am going to play & stream Calamity in HORUS vc; anyone who wants to join would be very appreciated.
UTC+8, you sent that message at 8:15 AM for me and currently it is 2:46 PM
We're not too far from being on opposite sides of the planet methinks 🙃
That would unfortunately be workable if not for my attempts to fix my sleep schedule 🙃
might play/stream some more terraria now as a celebration of randomly being awake at a human time.
protip: dont mess with electric locomotives in the direwolf 20 pack
They like to explode and take the whole server with them
sowwy
before i get on again i'll do some single player testing and see if its the high speed tracks or the train
...gonna play and stream some more Calamity if tmodloader doesn't randomly crash on me
after some testing... no idea why it crashes. i know on the server it crashes when it explodes but its not heppening in single player
going to pivot and figure out create trains i guess
Well I just found a ton of stuff including a glowing mushroom biome, kept going just a little too long, died, and lost two gold 🙃
dwarfmaxxing
me finally using create: https://tenor.com/view/asdf-movie-asdf-i-like-trains-train-i-like-trains-kid-gif-19006285

Considering playing more terraria; deciding if I want to wait and play Unexpected Scheduling Tango, or if I want to stream the game and also possibly record it?
I will play, I will stream, I will not record, I will not try to save bosses or other content and I will try not to feel bad about this.
Finally beat Desert Scourge after too many tries! The solution? Actually finding, and then equipping, a double jump never mind that I could have technically crafted one before this.
I feel the need to share an absurd thing I found with you. Yes, that's the same statue in both (not a copy of the same statue; I mean, I wanted to capture an area bigger than one screen width.)
Calamity gives glowing mushroom biomes a big open cavern to make a boss arena in, and I guess that screwed something up and took all the spawns that would be across the biome and stuck them in one place. (Not pictured: the biome treasure shrine, a bit off-screen to the right, which I did not loot due to full inventory.)
Huh, I think that type of thing pops up in vanilla world gen sometimes too
It's certainly possible! It just caught me very seriously off guard.
yeah I find I often get strangely flat mushroom biomes
I mean, it's good, because again: I will have to build a boss arena in one of those. There's an early-game boss that can only spawn in the glowing mushroom biome (Crabulon, who I think is after Eye of Cthulhu but before Brain of Cthulhu? I forget the exact order.) I also need to do Torch God; I was putting off using heart crystals so I wouldn't proc Eye unexpectedly, but since I think Eye is next or approximately next I want the extra health so I can better do Torch God. Any tips for it? It's not exactly a traditional fight but I don't know if there's any little tricks that make it easier. ...actually, I probably want to do Eye first because the shield will just be extremely helpful for torch god.
I usually just cheese torch god by bringing in a hardmode character and just tanking half the shots ngl
Sounds like boss checklist would be a good add to your mods
Oh, I have it and it's on. I just don't remember it.
As for tips and tricks? Hammer your platforms into stairs
I'm going to check it next time I log in.
That way when you fall through them, you don't get "hung up" on them (as in there's no delay)
Torch God is just a bullet hell so stuff that applies to Post ML bosses would apply to it too
Huh. Should I be doing that for boss arenas too?
Depends on you
And the difficulty you're playing on (and possibly whether or not your computer lags mid-fight)
It's not commonly thrown out there so I'd say you'll be fine
Shouldn't lag, I'm currently playing Expert Revengance, and... I think I will play and stream some now, probably try to do EoC and/or some basic mining and caving (I need sapphires, I need to find and explore the Sunken Sea, and I need to decide on and settle on a class rather than doing "melee but kind of indecisively".
Mood lmao
Can't watch since I'm running on mobile data but gl mate
Might wanna grab enough for a gem hook while minung
Might just do melee becuase I haven't done it as much and also yoyos are much cooler and more interesting (and effective) than I expected.
One of us, one of us, one of us!
I have an amber hook. The first major cavern I found was from giant trees connected to the underground desert, and I lucked into an extractinator, so I got a bunch of fossils and have an amber hook and fossil armor+pick.
saved up a bunch of life crystals because I didn't want to fight EoC so I stayed at 180 HP... turns out? I had 7 saved without realizing.
That's a hefty sum of life savings right there (pun intended)
...what should I do with my lantern night? Underground desert for golfer, or regular underground? I need sapphires, underground NPCs, and just Stuff In General.
Idk if luck affects trapped NPC spawns but Incase it does - the former
Could still find sapphires there, or desert fossils if not
it does I think, and also I instantly found the golfer so that's nice and I'm going to the regular cave now
That's wicked lmao
got the Eye of Cthulhu down to 40 HP. I am a little tilted. I think I should just try to get better gear and try again since I'm that close.
just realized I might not have had my summon resummoned during that second attempt. Now I'm really tilted.
Try and try, you'll get there, but you'll also die
Managed to get the kill! Now I need to make a good number more houses, because I know I have NPCs waiting to move in. Also do a bit of juggling for pylons.
READ THE DESCRIPTION PLEASE!!!

Yep! Crabulon is next. I just have to build its arena.
which I will probably do right now in HORUS before bed.
Trying to decide whether I should try to do some biome management now (I don't think the crimson's spreading too bad, but it's next to my ice biome; thankfully, it can't spread into it pre-hardmode, but once hardmode starts suddenly it can spread through the snow underground and immediately it becomes nearly impossible to contain), or fight Crabulon, or search the underground/caverns for more heart crystals & the webbed stylist, or search for the Sunken Sea to fight the giant crab. Either way, I'm gonna stream it.
Probably want max health before you do biome containment stuff, would make it less of a pain
Yeah, I'm 1 short of max health now. I also want a depth meter before do torch god because I want to reuse the arena for a gem tree farm.
...think I'm gonna play and stream a bit more, either breaking one crimson heart (not to properly do Brain of Cthulhu, just to get Arms Dealer and potential goblins), or setting up for and doing Crabulon.
Actually I think I already have a crabulon arena, just not a summon, so I'll break a heart & take the summon crafting materials with me.
...wish I knew where my sunken sea was 🙃 anyway I think I will search for that and the Webbed Stylist now (Dye Trader + Stylist is better than Dye Trader + Painter for "two random NPCs I barely care about who I can stick in random biomes to buy pylons from").
Nurse + Arms Dealer + solitude is guaranteed Pylon no?
Excluding for the Snow biome?
Oh I'm guessing you didn't land a gun
I got a gun from my crimson heart, and there's many guaranteed pairs for pylons, but:
- Sylist loves Dye Trader, so it's a cheaper pylon
- Neither of them is selling anything I especially care about, so I don't mind having them in really weird places and moving around a ton.
Uhhhh... I am in the Sunken Sea and cannot appear to break the backwalls or place new ones. What gives?
Glitch mayhaps? Or maybe you have to beat a certain boss
Iirc water pools in because of the walls so latter is more probable
...apparently you can only break walls if they're adjacent to a spot without walls (or you can replace walls if they're next to nothing or another identical wall).
I’m not sure why they did that tbh
Might be a engine thing
From what we know, Calamity Mod doesn't like it when you Fuck with things
The "only break cave walls next to broken walls" thing is vanilla, I'm pretty sure. I think you might be able to place walls, just not break them...?
Yeh
Fair and true
It turned out okay in the end, and I was able to make a house in the Sunken Sea. Which was close enough to the top that it also counted as the Desert, meaning I could buy the desert pylon (although, alas, not the underground pylon as well... and I did already have a desert pylon set up, it was just interesting).
I thought you had to beat a boss to break the blocks there.
You used to have to beat Desert Scourge (which I already did) but now it just locks the Giant Clam and maybe some drops?
you definitely should be able to mine that stuff then.
unless jts beating the clam now which seems wrong. what's your current pick at
#Minecraft #StarTrek #AkaLxndon
Welcome my friends to one of the coolest Minecraft videos I have produced in years. This Minecraft replica 1:1 Scale USS Enterprise from the 2009 Star Trek film is something I've seen floating around on Google and Discord for some time now, and not only did I get the chance to tour this monstrosity, I also made...
oh I have a friend who's been doing that sort of thing
I could (and can) mine the blocks just fine. I was talking about the backwalls.
ohhhh....does dynamite not blow it out?
It probably does, but I didn't think to use that. Thankfully, there was a very nearby spot with no backwall so I was able to just hammer from there and it all turned out good.
Also, I am attempting to start to build actual real houses and not just wooden boxes! I am having limited success with this but it appears to be somewhat happening.
well, time to try to find my shimmer and then make the goblin move there
...well, I found glowing moss, and it seems to indicate that not only is my shimmer very close to the edge of the world, it is also very deep down 🙃
the shimmer is usually on the outer 1/5 of the world, that's where it tries to generate
What does moss have to do with it though?
uses the same random seed

How to find exactly (!!) where your Aether is, using clever tricks and some math
Actually useful tidbit

anyway, I very confidently tunneled down very deep trying to figure out where the shimmer was, because I knew it would be low-down, and then hit Hell without finding it and was pissed... and only then noticed that my Guide's name was not, in fact, Andrew, meaning I was completely and totally wrong about the x-coordinate.
And I think this is my original Guide... if not, that'll be substantially more annoying.
but I just dug a (fairly inconvenient to access) path down to Hell, although I didn't actually enter there yet. Maybe if the Aether's close-ish the cavern pylon will deposit me close to the edge of hell? That would be... almost useful! Not great, but almost!
I can just take the same path and skew it over to the side and I... should have a decent chance? I don't know the exact y-coordinate, but I know it should be down into the lava caverns.
...the top of the lava layer. Not actually in it. But it will hopefully be useful. ...interestingly, if I do connect through from the Aether, that means I'll have a teleport to the west side of Hell; I can get to the center via hellevator (or actually demon conch; I don't actually need to finish the hellevator anymore, since I have a way to get hellstone if I follow through with it and Calamity makes the demon conch craftable); and the east end will be the special Brimstone Crags biome, which, someone improbably, can have a pylon set up at it! (And, thankfully, that one pylon in particular is special and does not require people near it to function.)
This was supposed to be a quick jaunt, though, since I'm still very early in progression.
Also I somehow managed to just... throw away a good yoyo and I don't know how (presumably whacked the "drop held item" button and had forgotten to favorite it) so this was kind of a botch of a day overall. I will try again, though, and this time, instead of going shimmer hunting, I will do something actually resembling progression (trying to build an arena for, and subsequently fight, the Brain of Cthulhu).
(Actually probably Torch God first.)
Anyone who wants to join is very welcome.
...and then fell down and died because it somehow didn't occur to me that switching to a set which lacked my fall damage negation accessory would cause me to die due to fall damage.
...just did the most scuffed torch god of all time (turns out? The range at which torches aggro on you is much greater than I had thought) but I pulled through.
Now: poke around for Aether, or do Brain of Cthulhu? Probably gonna briefly aether hunt.
If you smack some of the creepers then you could get just enough to make a faster pickaxe and thus aether find quicker
Yeah... honestly? I do not know if I want to use the Smoky Meteorite (dev yoyo) against the Brain of Cthulhu because it has pros and cons. It's much shorter range than most yo-yos, and it has less damage than the other stuff I'd be using, but it's larger and it rains down stars periodically. This makes it absurdly good for exploring since the stars pass through blocks for some distance and then explode into particles and the yo-yo itself glows. I don't know if it'll be good against Brain specifically? If the stars are all hitting it should be stronger, but I'm not sure how well I'll be able to stay in range, and I don't know if creepers will eat all the stars because they're not AoE. I think I'm gonna try it, though. (And then I will be able to make many things including better armor, a better pick, a better yo-yo... just, a lot of things. And then prep for the Perforator, who I know less about how I'll manage to fight, but who unlocks aerialite which is going to be extremely good for many things.)
...gonna try Brain of Cthulhu again, and hopefully get tissue samples from the eyes, which I somehow didn't the first time around???
Playing Dwarf Fortress and I feel bad now.
Got attacked by a bunch of Kea and had to kill them
They just keep coming
Eventually found my shimmer and managed to get my Goblin Tinker to actually move there 🥳 and am slowly but surely plugging along on fishing quests too. I have the info accessory and the angler set; now I just need all the fishing power accessories.
Yeahhh I just don't have the gear to handle Perforators well. I think that's tomorrow's problem.
@bold hazel you doing clamity?
from the looks of it, expert too
Yes and yes, and revengeance too.
I beat Brain of Cthulhu by the way; I suppose that wasn't clear because you can technically do perforators first. But I think I'm gonna try them one more time, this time with a slight tweak to my accessories to see if I can't fit the Shield of Cthulhu and the Brain of Confusion on there.
gonna try Perforators again now... come watch and/or wish me luck
Beat the perforators! and then I noticed that, hey, there's another cyst nearby and my buffs are still up so why not try for a double kill... and I got it 😏
Nothing like the thrill of opportunity
Anyway, because of how perforators work, the material drops are just used to craft the boss weapon drops, and I got all the melee weapon drops and so the only thing left to craft with the blood samples is the perforator summon (I have no reason to do this). And from fighting it twice, I got two of the boss expert accessory... which is good, because you can turn the crimson one into the corruption one and I'll need one of each of those.
(Still have to beat Brain one more time for the same reason.)
Anyway... I can technically craft a sky mill (which is needed to make most aerialite stuff) but I really should just go sky island hunting anyway because in addition to potentially getting one of those I can also get useful stuff such as the enchanted sword instead of having to craft it.
aw nuts
i'm playing on expert rn
it's Tough
just had the most "FUCK"-inducing experience yet
i was wailing on a juvenile eidolon worm to get some sick lootz for like
6 or so minutes
then suddenly A COLOSSAL SQUID SPAWNED RIGHT NEXT TO NE AND KICKED MY ASS PSYCHO STYLE
CURSE YOU, IMBECILIC CEPHALOPOD
THE WYRM HAD 40K HEALTH LEFT
Oh that's. Yikes! Are you on Revengance?
...next up: probably taking a break from bosses to search the underground jungle or search for the underground jungle where it isn't a cave that goes nowhere or a zillion giant beehives, then looking for sky islands.
I swear I didn't mean to do a yoyo playthrough! There are, in fact, many other neat melee weapons I want to do stuff with! And yet, nevertheless, I Crave The Yo-Yo.
just had my own "oh fuck" moment! I was using my thing which calls down stars for illumination, because I needed it to explore; I hadn't been using it near the hives because I didn't want to randomly break an abeemination and spawn queen bee. But apparently, next to a marble biome which was intruding on the jungle for some reason, was yet another hive. (I think this was a separate one? If it turns out I was coming up on the bottom of a hive I definitely knew about already, and I had no excuse for this mistake, I will be mad at myself.)
Oh, and apparently Queen Bee will not despawn if you magic mirror away! So I saved and quit the game and am hoping she will just despawn.
Okay, I see the top of what is probably the same hive, but I wouldn't have guessed it connected. And I didn't see hive blocks above me at the time, but that doesn't mean they weren't visible. Either way... jeez. (thankfully quitting and re-opening the game despawned her.)
good news: I lucked into a reaver shark, which is Just Better than the crimsonite pickaxe I had previously (though not as good as an aerialite pick... but I haven't made that quite yet). Bad news: the icon for the reaver shark as displayed while you're using it is annoyingly, disruptively huge for no reason?
I have officially Found What I'm Looking For (in the underground jungle), which is to say I found an Anklet of the Wind (and also the Staff of Regrowth, and enough spores to craft everything I need I think). I still have to fight Queen Bee but on purpose this time, set up a few more houses just to make room for NPCs, and also use my gravitation potions to find more sky islands and hopefully one has a sky mill so I don't have to craft one.
They're tenacious like that yeah. In a game I had years ago with a buddy, we broke a Larva pod accidentally and recalled back to our beds on the jungle surface. She followed us up, smashed in our NPCs, and then us shortly after. We had to walk back to our main base that time, lmao
Gonna touch back on the topic of getting done in, but first, thanks for starting the Terraria talk @bold hazel, its slowly getting me back into the game
Yeah I quit out entirely since it was a single player world... already left the base so she wouldn't kill the NPCs at least.
fully logging out despawned her. ...anyway, I think I accidentally found another larva? So I'll just need to set up platforms. And housing so the witch doctor can move in, because Calamity makes him sell a ton of useful potions.
I made it a habit to make these huge so that I can reuse them for Plantera later
And yea it's nice that they spread in a bunch of potions throughout the vanilla NPCs (Merchant has some too iirc)
Anyway a story in return for your troubles: I recently started a vanilla multiplayer game with another friend, and since our last playthrough was riddled with shared braincell moments, I convinced him that we should play Expert Mode, on Mediumcore. Details I learned later:
- Homeboy was slacking as much on the game as I was (to the point that he forgot how to progress other than to fish)
- He had not done Expert mode before
- He still misunderstands the Glory of Granger /j (poking fun here)
Anyway fast forward to now, I go AFK by worldspawn and I come back to an empty inventory because a slime rain happened to start. My friend's panicking because he died too while trying to save my items and we're scrambling to chest things (we hadn't made any special prep). The slime rain stops but only because a Goblin Army took its place. Cue several failed "rescue missions", attempts to flee & destroy the regenerating graveyard, and cries over VC when we normally just use text
In the end we mutually agreed on me bringing an end-game character to just end our suffering. We recovered from there, with the exception of our spawn, which now looks like purified Corruption because we tried bombing our tombstones to clear the graveyard (it grew back)
...wow.
I'm looking at some of the calamity get fixed boi changes and some of them are just brutal BS as you'd expect, and then there's a miniboss where the only change listed is "now wears a hat".
Is it a nice hat?
I don't know; the wiki doesn't seem to show the sprite, and I am not playing get fixed boi any time soon.
let's hope that, with the help of a ton of aerial mobility, I can find a sky island!
that has something worth something on it!
I'm torn between just crafting a sky mill immediately, or spending a tiny bit longer searching for one, since I do still also want to search for stuff like enchanted swords.
Kill two birds with one stone, imo
I ended up crafting a sky mill because it wasn't that expensive, and in the worse case, I've found my shimmer and can just uncraft it. But I did a lot of sky mill hunting, with no real success. Got some red balloons! Which are very cheap and easy to craft!
Also built an arena in a beehive the approximate size of Norway, discovered there wasn't even an abeemination in there, and summoned and beat queen bee twice. Might want to actually fight her again for an accessory... though, that said, what I really need is to start building more (and better) houses so that NPCs can actually move in since I don't have room for the Witch Doctor already (let alone anything else).
...also? I put the Goblin Tinker near the Shimmer, but I'm tempted to move him to the Sunken Sea because then he's underground (which he likes) and in the desert (which the Bandit and Dye Trader both like; the bandit likes him, he likes the Dye Trader, and having the bandit near him is at the very least convenient if nothing else).
Wait, no, that isn't underground; I couldn't buy the Cavern pylon from those guys.
nope, just plain expert

victorian sweatshop owner vs a glorious yet horrendous being capable of throttling a volcano
hmm. I've been tempted to pick up Terraria again. I've started way too many playthroughs, but I don't think I've ever stayed interested past early hard mode (and usually I drop out before hard mode). Is Calamity aiming to make things more difficult, or just different?
calamity add tons more things
bosses, biomes, enemies, items...
even mechanics!
it's really good
it also makes characters faster by default to speed up early game progression
So that's why it felt like I was wearing iron boots going back to vanilla terraria..
Precisely!
you can also dash at the start!
well not really a dash
you press left or right twice to instantly reach maximum acceleration
and you can also make yourself fall faster by pressing down in the air
i rlly don't recommend doing it unless you 1. know what you're doing and 2. have wings or horseshoe
cus it means you instantly take fall damage if you're high enough
Maybe Bananatron? Was asking the same thing before, I'd ask to be sure tho
This is new tho, ty and TIL
bababntoesm
oh god
bananatron is doing revengeance
and I don't feel like getting my ass kicked yet

Revengance isn't as brutal as it may sound? You just need to treat the game with a lot of respect; don't try to take out a boss without an arena, use buff potions judiciously, and stay safe on blood moons.
we still wanna beat the vanilla game lmao
fair... I haven't though tbh
We're just like
Not good at the game and it's probably worth some refinement before we take on modded challenges
Yeah that's fair.
I might play + stream some (have been at various times), but I'm currently at the less-interesting point of just needing to build more houses and maybe even some that aren't wooden rectangles.
How have y'all been prepping? That's an unusually big factor ime (a boss beatable with an arena is suddenly much harder without one)
Okay so we've been building arenas we just think we're
also not good at it
But we generally try and get the best gear we can get our grubby hands on before we think about fighting a boss
(i.e. Hellstone kit pre-Skeletron)
I am in actually the exact same spot of being pre-skeletron and considering going for hellstone. Honestly I maybe shouldn't?
FINALLY
beat up tsukiyomi (final boss of The Stars Above)
on expert
took me a week or so of on and off trying
immediately after, i did a shmaltzy jig all over her nonexistent corpse
bosses from TSA are very different than what you're used to
instead of moving all around like lunatics they stay put in one place
and do attacks on cooldowns and timers
and have voice acting and cutscenes (cutscenes only applicable for the last two bosses, really)
I should try The Stars Above, honestly, but I'm mid-Calamity playthrough.

been playing it with calamity and it's Good
you can also play it standalone if you're so inclined

wrath of the gods is an addon that adds two post-endgame super bosses
which are, as the name states, gods
I will attempt a TSA Calamity run after I finish this Calamity run.
I'm also trying to remember... does Calamity have anything to say about the Torch God?
hit a wall with DoG and i'm not willing to rip my hair out at it any longer
who thought giving a boss 1,420,000 with damage reduction up the ass was a good idea
eat my entire dick
inhale
exhale
you gotta crack it like an egg I remember
I know that beating DoG in gfb/maybe ftw has it drop 1-90 of every torch because the torch god was one of the ones it devoured.
Yeah there's some Funnies in the secret seeds.
...honestly? I like the idea of the Torch God being one that survived for longer due to being a) relatively inoffensive especially once "bad torch luck" got patched out and b) basically intangible and not physically present?
I'm sure Yharon would still kill it, given the opportunity, but it was lower-priority.

So I've been playing a really unique adventure map on mobile Terraria called Infinity
It's unique in that it's:
- Ruleless
- Has rebalanced loot
- Starts in HM and is intended for you to play to the end of the game vs Moon Lord
Something came up gonna finish this later
Anyway, Infinity has custom structures/dungeons, and I decided to go through it in Mediumcore
Rather precarious sight no?
This was a sign at the cliff
Top left is the nearest outpost I set up (Demolitionist's head), bottom right was where I took pic 1
Long story short, I lost a lot of stuff there 🙃
Among those were Fossil Armor (best set I've found so far), an Ice Bow, a Phoenix Blaster, and a Dual Hook I lucked out on (found the former two as loot)
Oh and two bottled blizzards. Anyway I'm probably not getting those back in awhile considering this is hardmode
wait is that on mobile?
Yep!
Holy damn
Ok the map was made on PC afaik (with TEdit at the very least), I just downloaded it on Mobile (and added Shimmer since its last update was after Journey's End)
No need to port
(afaik)
Cuz I just threw the world file into my Worlds folder
And voila
Oh! Its that easy, huh?
Now yes
P sure it was harder before
Anyway I have Rlyeh Nexus too
But I'm doing this one cuz I just find the experience exquisite
Nothing like running away squealing from HM slimes only to remember you have a portal gun
wait you can mod mobile too?
Mods afaik are an impossibility
unfortunate 😔
By HM I just mean hardmode (slimes get a buff by then)
Infinity's p damn close tho
Ohhh I thought the portal gun was modded
Oh no no no
The Portal Gun is a moon lord drop
It just so happens to also be in a chest that you can reach within minutes of spawning into the map
Huhhh
well, mobility options are always nice in the early game unless its the rod of discord/harmony
funny story about the former
I was playing on a multiplayer world with a friend and my gf
and minutes into hardmode I managed to nab a rod of discord
completely by chance
Lady luck smiles upon thee
I really hope that happens to me tbh
The Hallow on Infinity is...let's just say cruel
The map's dungeons are all rigged with traps ofc but the Hallow is ouch
I forgot to mention it but this whole area minus the small trees on the cliff have pockets of wraith statues rigged to proxsensors and it was pain
oh no
I also remember the Rod I got was retextured to be the Discord logo on a stick
can't remember which mod did that
That might just be a regular texture pack
I've seen it before on the workshop but I can't remember for sure
lastly
I use these two texture packs together
making dying more bearable
Oh I think I have the perfect add to your pair
lemme have it 👀
ty
Np! It's not as big as either but I enjoy the new adds
It should be fine
I've got a texture pack that shows each NPC's preference in their happiness menu, too. It's a bit buggy, but it works
Right back at ya, c'ya!
...it would be really neat if there was something that blocked blood moons.

it seems kinda cute but "mmo" makes me raise an eyebrow
I still find it a little funny how the majority of the communities between Minecraft and Terraria are just chill with one another.

The Minecraft Survival Guide Season 3 Begins!
In this introductory episode, before the season truly starts, I decide on a world seed, and explain the process of searching for your perfect Minecraft world seed using Chunkbase.com.
We explore how pre-set seeds load the exact same terrain every time you create the world, how to scout a world for l...
I'm a big fan of the "2x1x1 hole for night 1"
for sheep: you're probably closer to sheep than you realize, as long as you look in grassy biomes. you can also look out for villages. they're really useful in general, but without digging into any complicated mechanics they've just got good early game resources, like beds.
Frankly, I wish Villages weren't so absurdly strong.
no arguments here, but I think nerfing them has to come with tweaking a lot of other mechanics. e.g. the way the enchanting table works just isn't fun IMO
what does a barrel do
Those didn't exist last time
Yeah, that's fair. I'd generally be a fan of those.
chest but it doesn't need air above.
barrels are just pretty chests. you can't combine them into a 2x1 double inventory, but they'll open even with a solid block on top
oh cool
you can place them in different orientations, and the sides and bottom have nice texture. so you can e.g. place them upside down for a nice floor or at the base of a pillar for something that looks nice and incidentally has a lot of storage.
decorative options, nice
I understand the basic progression of wood->crafting->cobble->furnace w/bed at some point i'm just a little hazy about if I'm missing other Essential Earlygame Steps
oh, one thing that's probably important to mention: ore generation has changed a lot. you can look up charts on the wiki (which is at minecraft.wiki now, https://minecraft.wiki/w/Ore#/media/File:OreDistribution_1-18-2.png), but the gist is that for iron you want to go either very high in the world for surface pockets (mountains) or close to y=0 underground (
that's exactly the kind of thing the survival guide I linked starts out with, if you're up for video guides. I'd probably add "find some food" (probably punching fish or livestock) early on, "find coal or make charcoal" for torches, and "look for easy iron"
beyond that there's a lot of different ways to go, early on, but it's all pretty much personal taste? (and/or speedrunning nonsense) I like wandering for a bit to find a scenic-ish area for a base, which means keeping a slim inventory full of random trash. If you find some rivers or oceans you can make chest boats now which help with storage until you settle down
I personally prefer to set down a solid opening-base close-ish to spawn.
Particularly if sheep are a little tricky.
The next phase is farming and mining, then exploring once food and gear is stable
My initial strategy was "burrow home directly into mountain"
I think it was a good one I just gotta keep it properly lit
Very solid. Caves are... interesting now days.
And lighting your house should never be a problem.
Random question, but what size map do people prefer for exploring? My friends and I just covered two size 4s
I mostly only use maps for areas that I'm building in. If I'm exploring, it's probably straight wandering and returning based on f3 coordinates or landmarks
This is a shared world, so maps are somewhat so that we can find each other without needing to run home and guide them out.
I always get lost in Minecraft. I'm not sure why I get lost to such an extent? I mean, I'm not always great at finding my way around IRL but it's not as bad. I suspect it's in part because:
- In Minecraft, I'm more tempted to go "ooh what's that over there" and wander off than I am in real life.
- I get a lot of navigation from an internal compass or subconsciously kind of counting my steps or something? There's probably some form of direct physical feedback or something which I'm not necessarily consciously aware of but in Minecraft I don't have that at all and it really scrombles me.
My number one tip is to try and a) move in one direction when exploring without a map. (Preferably locator.) b) keep in mind cardinal directions using the sun.
it also doesn't hurt to make your own landmarks. even something as simple as a short pillar with a torch pointing towards your base (or the last pillar you made) can help a lot
...I think I will log back into Terraria for a little while and attempt to build, not just more houses, but also better houses.
If anyone would care to join me and watch and help me, it'd be appreciated.
neat! Game crashed randomly.
Should I be very stupid and attempt to use the phaseblade against Skeletron because it ignores defense and therefore I can kind of ignore the hands?
Dare ya
I think there's at least one other person in here playing calamity atm
I do, yes! And am about to play and stream more.
:3
hopping into HORUS right now to either build more houses, or build a skeletron arena (and subsequently face it, hopefully).
We still gotta beat Terraria tbh
get our skills up
but we're gonna do MC building instead
please do share if you build something cool
Sharing builds sound nice
What people run isn't a problem here methinks
So dw
Neat house btw, looks cozy
My dungeon is right next to my Crimson, and to make matters worse there's some sort of underground cave full of crimson grass right next to the dungeon, which I'm afraid to go into in case being just outside of the dungeon proper will still count as close enough to get the Dungeon Guardian after me.
so my current build is a big "firebreak" made of bricks (since they can't be corrupted)
Makes sense
I believe you need dungeon brick wall behind you to proc DG
Since mechanically it replaces the spawns of the Dungeon biome
Could turn the firebreak into like a castle tower
It sounds p fitting imho (and an idea I might do myself)
got a really interesting seed for the world
and then directly beneath the island...
super cold up top, warm and humid down below
FUCKING SADHJFHS
enderman teleported into our incomplete house
like adjacent to us
I did it through the ground, just... digging a deep layer, trying to make sure there wasn't any raw stone or any space for grass to spawn if I could help it. But, yeah, that's a good idea... I could (and probably should) try to spruce it up a bit rather than making it entirely utilitarian.
Well, thanks to a slime rain, King Slime spawned halfway through building my arena, which served as a decent trial by fire. Mostly it showed that I have good enough gear to stomp the King Slime, though.
Do not look into its eyes, it is just having a casual breaking and entering visit.
Did it steal one of your blocks?
No (and also we're in creative and also have been a fan of this game since before horses, we know how they work)
God, the time before horses. I feel old.
I remember when emeralds got added
augggghhhhh just barely died to Skeletron. I definitely could have done it. Shoulda done the thing where I slope platforms so I could fall through them instantly, and also remembered to add a swiftness pot to my buffs
second try was the charm! 🥳 aaaaand now I'm gonna have to kill Perforators again so I can make a void bag. I'm just gonna... do that later.
...nah I'm doing that now, it's only one fight.
I killed the wrong one. I needed to kill Brain of Cthulhu, not Perforators.
Shoulda guessed the vanilla item would be crafted with materials from the vanilla boss (in my defense, they have changed some recipes).
holy fuckin' shit i just dropped the Wall of Flesh on Revengeance
hardest shit I've ever done in a video game.
I got so mad after like 20 attempts a couple days ago that for yesterday and today I've just been building
And I just now decided 'fuck it' and went in for a quick attempt and I got him.
now to get ready for whatever hardmode has in store for me...
Nice.
...I keep meaning to do A Proper Melee Build, and yet I still have yoyo accessories and play a yoyo build because it's just too convenient for exploring and too good at multihitting bosses.
It does not feel like I am playing a melee build, even if I technically am, and I do technically have a shorter range than some weapons. If I really wanted a challenge I could try doing some true melee stuff; for the time being, I'm just trying to figure out how to juggle NPC happiness values and figure out who to make happy (since the witch doctor no longer sells every potion you might need).
Time for either more house-building (the correct choice; I still need like 3 more) or attempting Deerclops. Anyone who wants to watch or chat is extremely welcome.
What kinda aesthetic/theme should I go for my underground ice base (Terraria)
I want its presence to stand out and modify the surroundings somehow, instead of being in-line with it
Thinking demonic technocult since our recent trip to hell showed me Stuff
And also because it's a minimap away from the Dungeon
... time to drink a calming potion, go to the underworld, and try to get enough hellstone to make the thing that blocks voodoo demon spawns before there's a problem.
actually, wait, I could totally get obsidian water walking boots before then. Maybe terraspark boots? Also I really should go into the abyss but I don't wanna.
speeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed
Thank you for all the feedback on the previous update! This update is a smaller update to address some of that feedback, while also adding a few new features. I have not played/streamed Terraria in a decent bit... think I'll log back on. I removed boss checklist because allegedly it casues all sorts of problems (I don't trust this, but I still removed it... just in case, I guess) which will not help me with remembering what I need to do, but I think it's mostly just building more houses, making my existing houses not look like trash, and then prepping to fight... I think actually Slime God already, geez...
Update: I already beat slime god? And forgot about it??? sooooo I guess I'm making a hellbridge for the Wall of Flesh.
...not me making a ton of my hellbridge out of bone platforms (they look neat and I have a zillion bones) and only then remembering that stone platforms are lavaproof.
Wait they are?
According to the wiki, them, obsidian, and one other thing won't be broken by lava. Which is good, given that lava slimes... uh, exist.

Calamity Wizard Tower :3 (minor npc spoilers for early hardmode)
very whimsical
thank you :3
had to make an artificial snow biome for fishing quests in the sky because the astral infection decided that it was most comfortable in my natural one.
also my brimstone elemental is there say hello :3

new terrar character for classic mode and we took off our wood helmet for the first time in a bit and
prebby,,,,
sadly her pretty hair will be in a different helmet but we were just like
struck by it wdk
local girl forgets character she made herself
got two demonic chain knives hell yea
(been using one and wow this weapon's a hell of an upgrade)
tried to make our house a little bit prettier
we're not that great at building in Terraria but, hey! little steps
probably gotta put some lights in the stairwell area but we'll figure that out later
Fun fact: the hairdresser sells a "familiar wig" which can be worn in the helmet vanity slot and looks exactly like your hair.
that's the clothier
I put Amidias in fish jail
aw he has a little castle
we're aware of the Familiar set but also we don't have that available rn so
Fair.
this corruption is becoming troublesome
we may need to uh
shear this mountain off the map
thats very close
might want to set up blocks it can cant spread on
and sunflowers
The Great Corruption Containment Project has begun
do sunflowers stop corruption spread?
yeah
corroptoin also doesnt spread underground until hardmode
just put like 6 woodblocks on the surfance
in a row and it stops it as well
until hardmode
removing the mountain wouldnt help with the corrptuoin
getting started on the Hellevator might be fun though
the drop into hell
(just used stone slabs on the walls because like... neato...
author's note: will not drop into hell because it goes directly into a lake oops
query: we know the corruption spread speeds up in hardmode but like
what specifically happens
its faster and it can spread in more blocks
id recomend just looking up the more specific details
it can spread on background blocks is a big one
non-grassy dirt doesn't seem to be susceptible to corruption spread so that seems like it should be okay?
something to keep an eye on
nongrass dirt will become grassy dirt
the walls we mean
non-grassy walls
also that would explain how this little pocket is persisting since. Only has contact with ebonstone, no dirt.
the range is very limited pre hardmode
as well
in hardmode that little bit will be gone
got a goblin army that kinda kicked our ass lmao
purchased fox ears from the zoologist (new) but nora hasn't underwent enough character development for that yet so they go in cold storage
Alright! full kit of fossil armor, ready to fight things
Zoologist is both good to have, and easy to make happy (so you can sell stuff to her at least as well as you sell it to the Merchant if by some fluke you find yourself needing to sell things for money rather than just to clear up unnecessary duplicate accessories). Also, she sells the single most important item in the game, the Guide to Zoological Preservation. (And some mounts.)
The flamingo in particular is neat because if you're on the flamingo and floating in liquid, you get a fishing power bonus (I think only for fishing in the liquid you're floating in, but I'm not sure). You can get the same bonus while sitting on a toilet, because 🤷
howdie :)
I built this today. Heavily based off of a design I found on google images. Link here https://imgur.com/gallery/dezkV
sky boat
oooooooh nice nice
an evil presence is watching us 😨
the arena we have going rn
(full fossil armor and a musket with silver bullets. hoping that's gonna be enough)
Should be
also because we have an accessory gap rn, 5 free defense
What difficulty are you on?
normal and yeah actually that wasn't that hard
(we would normally play on Expert but. we've never beaten the game lmao so we'd like to build our way up)
so! this means
- dryad (can grow plant)
- meteorite (better stuff)
the progression chain continues....
actually we're gonna fight another one
bc we have an eye of cthulhu
or whatever the summon item is called
so it turns out we're gay and powerful and can kill skeletron in a third of a night
terraria pre hardmode is al ot easier then it used to be
how'dyou mean?
just how they have added in items over time and qol
we're not sure we've been using a ton of those. and are sorta wondering why you're bringing it up
oh im just comparing current to really old terraira
when skeletron was the final boss
wait Item modifers wasnt in the game at launch? Or sticky bombs?
it would make sense that the buildup to skeletron would maybe be a bit less intense when there's an entire other half of the game that comes after
Im also kinda shocked when hardmode came out
for somereaosn in my brain it was a year later or more
but no its about 7 months
another wierd one is beaches did not exist in the 1.0 version of minecraft, nor did trading, mineshaffts, or iron golems
Beaches is funny, because iirc the early versions were coded to try and spawn you on sand on shore. So a beach biome didn't exist, but there was some kind of mechanical concept of a beach
we did not realize the necro set had a midriff
but also considerable defensive and offensive upgrade for The Build
Good luck! Nothing quite like beating it for the first time.
To be fair, at that point pre-HM didn't exist
Because there wasn't a hardmode to precede yet
Helluva vibe
Speaking of early terraria, the april fool's day joke was just terraria 1.0 and just... wow the game has changed so much
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/105600/view/4165340162528363746
Not mentioned: vanity items did not exist yet and neither did statues (other than the literally useless angel statue)
Hey at least it had a very unique purpose back then (being the only statue lmao)
we have combed the world
there is no meteorite
which sorta sucks because we've been farming fallen stars and the star shooter would be a very nice add to our collection of weapons
Maybe it fell in a hole or on a sky island low enough?
I recall meteors embedding themselves in the bottom of the latter
And one in my first world that shot itself through a 2-wide shaft into my underground desert
a sky island actually seems likely. We haven't been looking up in the clouds yet
Blockswap doesn't work?
Time to setup a meteor farm
y'know, we didn't try that! will give it a go
so large

yeah savannahs currently have nothing going for them
they are just plains with ugly grass and ugly trees
plains at least have flowers and nice grass
acacias I like. the bark is a nice blue-gray and orange is pretty. but the way they grow looks pretty bad, yeah

theres actully a lot of questing mods in minecraft
quest driven packs can be really nice
Ever heard of Spectrum?
real neat magic mod that genuinely feels like a Thaumcraft successor
😔 fabric only iirc
its like a progression-based magic mod with a whole lotta story
which i find neat
spoilers for the mod: ||As you research more into the mod's book, you progressively get more insane, in a way similar to Thaumcraft's book, but more tangible. Like when you, in your hubris, combine all the gemstones together, hoping to mech the ultimate gem, only to create a terrible ooze and an odd clumb of crap that just feels wrong to hold||
its cool!
At a glance, reminds me more of Chromaticraft
I can definitely see the similarities, both being color themed mods with magic
But trust me, Spectrum is VERY extensive
it even has cooking!
and fermenting! that takes several real life hours!
But don't worry, it still ferments even when you're not logged in, even on a singleplayer world
somehow
Probably it checks the system time before and after rather than actually running some sort of a timer.
but, as a tremendous thaumcraft enjoyer, I'll have to check that out sometime! I remember doing a good amount of Regrowth, which is a FTB modpack with Thaumcraft (I forget which version), and my opinion on Thaumcraft is that it's the most boring-looking fun I think I've had.
It's very fun, but if I try to describe it, or you look at it, it looks boring. But scanning stuff satisfies a certain part of my brain. Although I always had trouble making working piping systems that didn't require manually piping stuff around, even though it should be simple.
a lot of timers that only have effects once the duration is passed are just a time stamp and a have we passed it yet check
simpler to code and less expensive to run
Thaumcraft 4 piping was arcane and incredibly confusing
I understand in theory how it works (it's transfer of a gas, not a liquid, and various things pull not push) but I could never fully grok it. In theory it is simple to set up a one-way loop for something like providing to a crucible. In practice... no.
Some addon adds a wireless transfer system (Remembering from Blightfall) which is really the only way to handle it
The magnum opus is a system that has a jar for every essentia (base ones are voided) and that device which breaks down excess essentia into components
Mmmm, essentia...

it's not too hard
yeah i got it setup now
pnet modded server? 👀
nah this is private
Isn't there already a pnet modded minecraft server though?
there was one for a little bit a while ago
We got to Hardmode!
so far, it has mostly been "disaster relief" but like
we should be done with cutting the Corruption and Hallow off semi-soon
the hallow i don't think interferes with npcs
it doesn't! but we wouldn't exactly call it a "safe" biome.
Besides, our Hallow spawned like dead center in the middle of one of our Corruptions, so they go hand-in-hand.
our corruption stripe cut right through our Snow biome though, which did give our Tinkerer and Mechanist some trouble but it worked out
Update: The underground situation is way worse than we thought it would be.
yeah you just accept the underground is like that and just focus on isolating things you want kept safe
we mostly just don't want it to start cutting into our primary mines y'know
...or to start leapfrogging its way back to the surface
what tje fuck
This Pirate Invasion has been fucking insufferable.
Skeletron Prime spawn in the middle of an invasion when we're not even that ready to tackle the overworld.
This is genuinely the least fun we've ever had playing Terraria.
alright invasion is over we're feeling more normal now

Gday everyone. I'm super excited to announce that building is now in the game!! Finally. This was huge update and was the most complex thing in ...
Update: Somewhat significant advancements actually! Managed to beat Queen Slime and the Twins with use of buffs
Clentaminator finally acquired
We beat The Destroyer!
rate the base??
we're feeling somewhat good about our construction this run tbh

Bro they making Minecraft farms in Fallout
Only difference I can think of is that in minecraft this would be fully automated
Getting back into (modded) Terraria. Perhaps starting with a Master Mode Revengance World was not a good choice.
Yeeaah
If it's of any solace, Revengeance has all the Master-exclusive stuff (pets, trophies, etc.) so you're not missing out if you use another mod to switch to Expert
And Master has no AI changes, just stat bumps
Yeah I'm going to see if there is a mod to change the difficulty afterwards, I don't feel like making a new world
...if you made a new world I could theoretically join you (did I just... not look on here all of yesterday?)
TEdit erases any modded tiles when used on a modded world iirc
Doesn't look like it did that
I've seen plenty of modded tiles after that change, though it might have affected modded chests
Oh it might've only touched on the properties
Either way I hope it goes well for ya mate
Yeah I only changed properties
I did feel a bit stupid as shortly after I found the items that can change difficulty
Hmm
Looking for a modpack that combines adventure and building with minimal magic/tech. Sorta like a Vanilla+ pack

What are people's recommended Minecraft launchers? I've been trying to figure out some stuff around basic moding (optimization type stuff, mostly.)
prism launcher
Thanks! Have it all set up.
my god...
I did end up making a new world for Terraria, mostly to pare down mods. I'm now sitting at Anahita & Leviathan
A long time ago when i was doing modded Terraria with friends, they/we found ??? in the Ocean in pre-Hardmode
Went, "What's that?" and proceeded to kill it. What I got in my chat was just <Friend> was evicerated by Leviathan x3.
And looking at the map to see some icon flying towards spawn where everyone else was
Terrifying and incredible
Oh my god it creeper
Oh my gah!
Slime houses
also wow, Terraria on journey mode turns out to be the game that gets me, my partner, and sukispawn all playing the same thing
I'm just playing and building and fighting, sukispawn only wants to fight bosses and loot cool shit, and sukipartner wants to ramble around caves mining random stuff and exploring
yeah journey mode is really nice
these are good
What's funnier is Gregtech NH has Thaumcraft
Look, I have the mats to make a complicated and unnecessary water pump and plumbing system to cool my reactor that only works half the time.
Didn't your last base belch radiation uncontrollably?
It made quite the shrimp farm though
i do have the ol minecraft craving again
I've been debating picking it back up with the new update, but I dunno if enough changed to hold my interest
I've come back to it for a bit due to hesitancy with Terraria, decided to make a minimal pack so I can explore Hex Casting and Spectrum fully
Which will be a funny combination if Spectrum is able to make Budding Amethyst
i used a vanilla pack with upgrades to perofrmance and shaders
adne added a few things after like map
Map is one of the things I removed, in the event either mod has a solution for that. I want to force myself to use the mods for anything above vanilla so I can fully experience them. (Though yeah I use shaders and that does come with dynamic lighting)
the ingame map is just too aweful for me to not use a map mod
its worthless as a map you keep on your person
Looking around at mods has given me an idea about what if you had more strict navigation and exploration requiring progression to unlock new locations. Basic idea came from Thin Air and Create: Air
Hex Casting is a very fun idea for a magic mod, like Psi. But just like Psi, I struggle to find good use cases for the extremely open ended magic when paired with mods that give simpler options
After this I was planning to play a MineColonies Pack, but I wonder if I'd rather make something with Millenaire
i cant really play non modded anymore. doesnt really scratch the itch so to speak
and i basically refuse to use anything but xaero's map, though one of the new ones is okay, but i dont remember which one.
Personally my preferred map is between FTB Chunks (which is actually a map) and Antique Atlas, depending on how diegetic I want my map to be
mine colonies is something i'd like to mess with but the startup is a bit too friction heavy
FTB chunks either doesn't let me zoom out far enough or it has the weird stepped zoom and i cent remember which
and yeah for like themed/curated/quest packs i can deal with atlas and the like
Yeah, Minecolonies is more a midgame mod, but also feels like it opens pretty early
for kitchen sink packs i just want a smooth zoom and to be able to zoom out to see the entire map
mine colonies feels like an early game open tbh, its just in my ecperience like this weird combination where the beginning is so manual yet you cant really do anything manually without weird effort to payof ratios so you jsut end up sitting around waiting for building X to be done and by the time i get my colony to like mid early game i'm at mid late game
I could probably stand to add some food mods
i need someone to force me to play through a mod pack and not just tech sprawl out of a box and speedrun the tech tree
my problem is i want all of my stuff to do things
yeah like
make buildings for things
or at least make a proper base with paths and stuff
but to know how big to build the building i have to build the stuff to put in the building first and then i don't want to move it. or everyone leaves the server and such
like the last pnet server i was working on building a train between my base and the sort of near spawn hub, but like 1% into it i realized 1. everyone was more or less done and 2. there really was no reason for the train anyway there wasnt any trade or anything
Yeah that's a problem I'm having. Want to build a wizard tower for Spectrum/Hex Casting but unsure how big Spectrum Structures get
I wish Create had some geographically isolated mechanics. There's not much reason to trains to transport goods unless you're adding your own constraints
if it were vanilla they'd be great for moving things from vanilla farms, but I don't need to run to a slime farm if I can just dye some wheat with Create
I know Create has an addon that adds infinite mining nodes to Chunks, which could incentivise transport
i have a love hate relation with such mechanics, they tend to either be so overpopulated that you dont have to travel far, or you get terrible rng and have to to cover like 30km to get everything
yeahhh...shoutout the server where multiple people spent weeks trying to find Tetra structures
what would be really nice is a good unified train mod that can cross unloaded chunks that has nice storage access for fluids items and power that scales across early to late game
I might get that short stick at some point in my playthrough, need a Mangrove Swamp in Terralith for Spectrum and I don't have any "Biome Finder" mods
on the last pnet server there was some boss mod and using a biome locater the nearest one to my base was actually like 10-30km (dont remember which but around there) away from my base that was already like 3-5km from spawn so i just never got it
and that boss didnt respawn and had rng loot drops
Yeah geographically distant resources can be weird
The best way would probably be something like "nodes cannot be more than X Chunks away and less than Y Chunks away"
yeah
i did like immersive engineering excavators but i never could figure out a good transport method for power and items other than teleportation or just setting it up to run and heading out my self every now and then
I suppose an option is Large Veins, but since that's a chance per chunk, no guarantees
like theres lots of stuff for moving players, and some stuff for slowly moving items, but moving power late game is really difficult other than just teleporting it
GT:NH might be a reasonable modpack for necessitating transport methods for resources, but it is also GT:NH
i hate anything gregtech tbh, adding 6 dozen steps to something isnt difficulty its just annoyance
though they probably have had a change in ideology since the last time i touched their stuff
GT:NH is weird
gtnh is thousands of hours long
and how much if that is padding?
