#Baldur's Gate 3

Very tanky, Tavern Brawler con bonus also applies to wild shape forms, also you're a druid and have 5th-6th level druid spells so
Trying to pick between sneaky for Druid for my next run
Tavern brawler works on wildshape? Damn
But most of the unarmed stuff doesn’t work in wild shape iirc
theres not that much that isnt Monk Feature Specific iirc
It didn’t used to but they added it
In like patch 5 or 6 I wanna say?
It was specifically mentioned in patch notes
Honor Mode nerfs the funny broken stuff as best it can
Right but that's not crazy broken
Wildshapes don't have much going for them besides being tanky
Except if you're moon druid but even then they fall a bit behind due to the strong magical items martials get
It's the that again, me listening to everyone's barbarian rages
Four variants of the barbarian's rage sound effects for each custom voice and origin character.
0:00 - Voice 1
0:34 - Voice 2
1:05 - Voice 3
1:38 - Voice 4
2:10 - Voice 5
2:41 - Voice 6
3:13 - Voice 7
3:44 - Voice 8
4:15 - Astarion
4:51 - Gale
5:26 - Karlach
6:09 - Lae'zel
6:43 - Shadowheart
7:20 - Wyll
8:01 - The Dark Urge
8:33 - No Voice
I learnt there's 4 variations of each rage voicelines
Sharts sounds like she needs mega therapy, minsc laughs while laughing, Wyll sounds like he's gotta sneeze first, halsin damn that's bear rage, and gale rages in lowercase
I don't think I ever noticed before that the weapon switches hands while raging >_>
I didn't notice that either and I've done a barbarian playthrough
Damn it's not even like they pass it to their other hand like I thought you meant it just teleports
I guess it's to differentiate the stance
I'm pretty sure it switches to the left hand during the rage animation and then back >_>
Wonder what happens with dual wielding or fighting with a shield?
Honestly maybe I haven’t found a really good one but Phalar aluve seems like one of the best weapons for a martial spellcaster hybrid character
The auras are so nice to have if I’m not gonna use the sword as a sword
So like, how do you romance Astarion in a good playthrough?
Because I’m in act 3 and he’s the only member of my party still at neutral
Because every time I would gain approval with him I’d lose it later by choosing selfless options
I think you need to be a bit snarky
But you can get a lot of rep in act 3 still
There's lots of it to go around
He approves of some surprising things, but it’s a bit guide dang it
Alright
I find that by the end of Act 1, just doing enough general nice stuff without being a saint will have the entire party approve of you
Wyll is super easy to get approval for
Especially if you're nice to Karlach early on
Just don't to be evil
Same with Karlach
Except her approval is more let me punch a baddie
She will disapprove if you diplomacy out of a situation where you could have fought an asshole
The "bad trio" just wants you to not be Lawful Stupid
Gales like, good, evil, I don't care. Did you know I'm the chosen of Mystra and the greatest wizard in water deep?
Gale likes it when you persuade people not to be morons
Yeah, he's a man of reason and fancy tea
There's no real party members who want you to be straight evil
Minthara's kind of an exception
but she almost feels like she isn't a companion
Depends Minthara is pretty classic definition of evil but even she won't side with the game's antagonists
I htink my issue with her is that if you do recruit her you get her so late that it doesn't quite matter
If you go Full Evil you get a lot more Minthara time, and you can get her pretty early in Act 2; even on a good route, you can still make her one of the first Act 2 bits you do, so you get all of Act 2+3 with her
thats a lot of game time
I may be biased because Minthara is in my Top 3 romances with how she's written
and shes the funniest companion by far
Yah you’re able to recruit Minthara pretty immediately in act 2
So long as you go to moonrise quick
Honestly kind of. I think he is a great secondary character, but after act 2 I never used him again
Halsin has act 2 moments and not much in 3 I believe
Minthara has an arc for all of 2 and some in 3
If you want to be evil but not murder madness
i also found that with Minthara || I don't like ow she's only on board with become Bhaalspawn . My understanding was her story was abut how awful gods were, so why would she want you to sell your soul? Especially since the become bhaalspawn ending leaves you a braindead zombie in the end of the game||
||I think she's more enamoured with the livo embodiment of death and brutal efficient killing machine and admires those who want power at almost all cost||
She’s big into heritage and birthright
I mean it makes sense
Halsin is a character that was, from all my research and playing the alpha, hurt a bit in regards to some cut writing stuff
I'm always haunted knowing that at some point in the EA datamine, ||Halsin was the one who killed Isobel with the spear that would become Sorrow, which would have tied him into Act 2 even more||
that weapon is an insane reward
did you know it gives you thorn whip as a bonus action
Yeah; I dont tend to use it very much, but its a neat weapon.
It’s really neat too, ||the way it’s described in the leaked stuff was that Halsin went into a murderous rage because of Shar’s influence and stabbed Isobel without even realizing he had done it until it was already done||
Yeah! Its juicy and dramatic!
||So like, it wasn’t even to make Halsin a better person, because he was influenced by the curse we knows influences people to evil||
Also makes his talks of ||the shadow curse being his fault feel more real, because even if it was orchestrated by a higher power, he was still the instrument of it and he doesn’t know that||
Damn that would have made his involvement in act 2 feel more impactful
yeah, there's a level of sadness to Halsin that isnt quite there w/out that cut note
Hmm I wonder what class to try this sorrow build on
It’s a glaive so there’s always the classic sentinel polearms master fighter build
I’m thinking to pair it with the gish items, so I need some kind of spell casting
I did try that ona paladin a long time ago and it seemed buggy on the triggers of the sentinel part.
Even with that halberd, I'd hit but they'd still keep moving
I’ve done hexblade and Paladin
Though there is one major issue with ||Halsin killing Isobel, he’s not proficient in the glaive he used||
||Isobel you have like 15 ac how were you hit by Halsin’s -1 strength non proficient glaive attack?||
||Halsin's playing a homebrew druid and he's actually a bear that can wildshape into an elf so he gains weapons proficiency when he wildshapes||
||that checks out actually||
||It'd be more funny if glaive was something elves learnt instead of longsword||
||But also Halsin's like a 350 year old archdruid and he's like level 5 (3?) when you first meet him and doesn't have any tadpole thing to explain his weakness||
||yah in general the ways characters strengths in this game are weird||
||like why is random flaming fists from baldurs gate nearly as strong as Ketheric Thorm, immortal paladin of Myrkul?||
Because video games
Yah it just gets funny
Like ||a singular flaming fist could have wiped out the entire goblin camp||
||we did not need to be there||
||Flaming fist I sort of get, they're well trained soldiers. The random dock workers that kidnaps Volo though could have solo'd the goblin camp and that group as a whole probably could have killed the Avatar of Mrykul post no invulnerability||
||I just like to think that it would be in fiction because the dead 3 are just so bad at doing anything||
||why did Halsin not just hire a single beggar from Baldur’s gate to stop the shadow curse? Is he stupid?||
||Halsin's not strong enough to walk to Baldur's Gate, he could die to a random level 10 dog||
||I mean as a NPC he has like 20 strength and an unlimited bear form||
||Maybe being near us saps him of strength||
||Does he? I feel like he was easy to kill in the goblin camp||
||I know at least his NPC statblock has an actually good strength score||
|| Halsin's best role though is the 3 way bears. Spec him 11 Ranger, 1 druid. Summon level 11 bear, that bear summons level 7, and Halsin has a level 1 unique bear transformation||
Whelp another run another glitched Halsin, we told the kids to f off and stop attacking the bear then the fight happened and we tried to let Halsin out of the cage in the middle of combat to help us and he turned hostile then we knocked him out and the journal thinks we killed him
it seems to work more often when someone is "temporarily hostile"
for instance you can safely knock out alfira
I do wonder what would be the studio’s next game
Modding support for bg3 coming soon too
Hoping it means more crazy classes
Baldur’s gate 3 episode 2
Baldur's Gate 3.5
Baldur's Port
More seriously they have said they’re done with D&D for the foreseeable future
I suppose it'll probably be a while before we see whatever they're next working on
but it should be pretty cool
Yeah
But I am curious about what the big project they said they wanted to work on is
Yeah wotc burned every bridge
#shorts #baldursgate3 #baldursgate
I think they are fine with wotc
It’s just they have been working on dnd for like
Five years
While they also have had this plan for another big project
“Githyanki being peaceful is about as likely as a flying gnome.”
Gnome: immediately begins drafting plans for a flying machine.
I wish they didn't give the gnomes and halflings quite such bizarre proportions
We should have had at least one mini companion
They did say outright that basically every person they knew and worked with at WotC was gone after the big purge, but, I do think it’s more likely that they are just happy with the work they have done and want to move on
Sometimes stories finish
The purge probably just means that it’s even easier to move on since
You know
“I have no more friends involved in this”
It's probably a bit of both
We spent a ton of time, it worked out, and we're good
and we finished the contract with them, and are not interested in continuing it
And honestly good for them
I know there’s an urge to just want more, more, more of a story you liked
Yes
The Dark Urge is a compulsive media watcher
They have an encyclopedic knowledge of Star Wars canon
They are a Wookiepedia editor
(Tav, on the other hand, edits TFWiki)
||Orin’s duel with them is just that scene of nerds quizzing each other on shit||
it felt pretty clear at their speech at the game awards that the massive hasbro layoffs really rubbed them wrong
Also act 3 spoilers ||free the artist sucks||
Orin: ||turns into a giant abominable monster||
Me: ||guess who took hold monster as a warlock spell ||
Is four elements really still that bad ?
Monks in general are pretty good in BG3 due to good itemization and easy access to stat boosts
But like
Open Hand Is Better
Is the thing
There’s some shenanigans shadow can do
But Open Hand can Punch Better
That’s a tough act to follow
There's like a handful of magic items that cater to 4 elements but it'd be hard to be on par with open hand
But monks in general have very nice magic items for playing DEX/WIS and makes being MAD less of a punishment
It’s arguably worse in BG3 because of how strong strength monk is in this game
Tavern brawler alone increases the damage on do nothing but punch builds by an insane amount
Prone is just strong in general for melee users
Flurry can trigger sneak attack?
I don’t trust people who think Wyll is boring
Even when I can tell he has the least total content of any origin companion
I still don’t trust them
Yeah when I use the prone option it triggers sneak attack but I haven’t checked in a while so maybe it’s patched
A few of the classes benefit from the fact you can abuse the strength potion to essentially invalidate that stat
Won’t you eventually run out of the potions?
shop vendors replenish on rest and level up
so you can time things so you never run out
like I respecced everyone at level 3 early on for Auntie Ethel to buy her strength pots
each person who leveled I think put 1 pot back in stock
Withers MVP
A cheese with Withers is when you Respec you can steal your gold back from him and he doesn't care if you get caught
How do you get infinite money
I found out you can also pickpocket your money from the oathbreaker knight
Unfortunately though he does care
He cares a lot
He stabs you very hard with his sword
Dude is a level 14 paladin
With all the features that comes with
No
He has a +1 greatsword, potion of heroism and some javelins
Level 14 and only has a +1 great sword?
Broke bitch
It’s the real reason he wants us to spend so much gold to get our oath back
What a fool
Everyone knows that the real way to get weapons in the game is to stab someone who has it
Or cast Command on them >_>
Wait Oathbreaker Knight is lvl 14 and has a fucking +1 sword?
Damn
No space in the budget for good gear
That's kinda pitiful
Tbh if he had a good weapon everyone would stab him for it
+1 is still above curve
You are right let’s stab him
He's flexing on us
TIL that act 3 ||Orin kills Grub the cat if you have like no kidnappable companions besides Yenna and grills her on the campfire. The most evil of the main 3 antagonists||
I think that’s how that conversation went
#bg3 #durgetash https://t.co/FPIcwAk8MR
💖 2.04K 🔁 396
If you ally with Gortash as a Durge he really ||Talks so much about how much he likes you as an ally and how much better you are than Orin, there's no way it was just platonic||
Even if Gortash is the ugliest man in the game yet the narrator calls him handsome
I can at least see handsome but like, the narrator calling him young I take issue with
Dude looks at least in his 30s
Reasonably in his 40s
That’s not a young man by any definitions
I mean Astarion was a minister by 30
I think Larian made elves age quicker but last the same
Honk
And then he got shivved
By like 12 dudes
Hes handsome in a sad old guy way
Did astarion get Julius caesared
There are a few opportunities to just stab him and instantly kill him narratively
I know it's gameplay but there's a few times when Laezel was trapped and could have just misty stepped away since gith get it as a racial spell at level 5
she couldnt make those pesky verbal components, too busy complaining verbaling
Gale is such a fuckin’ dork
So is Wyll
So is Karlach
So is Lae’zel
Not Shadowheart or The Very Popular Astarion tho
Actually no Shart’s a dork too

Baldur's Gate 3 - By Larian Studios
I did not expect this reaction from Shadowheart's, she's a prankster all of a su...
You can't see this and not call Shart a dork
It's funny how she goes from mean emo girl to like, basically her VA IRL with how dorky she is
Admittedly I don’t get dork vibes from Lae’zel
She is
Extremely serious about everything
Not entirely, with that bg3 cartoon which idk if it's canon or not, Lae'zel is considered extremely humour among the Gith
Wait cartoon?
Like you can’t tell me that Lae’zel isn’t the equivalent of a military nerd
At last, the party leaves the land of Early Access and reaches Baldur's Gate! But a new foe awaits, stronger than a cursed frog -- Gale, Astarion, Shadowheart and Karlach must face the Launch versions of themselves.

The way she talks about dragons is the same way people talk about fighter jets
Romancing her as a red dragonborn gets you like really horny lines from her
Oh no
She's very obsessed with red dragons
to her you are like an F-35 gijinka
Yea basically, it's been her entire life's goal to be a champion of Vlakith and ride a red dragon only given to her most trusted. She's like the kid who wants to be an astronaut and like hyperfocusing on everything that you need to be one.
laezel's autistic interests are Ways To Kill
Just tell me you can’t imagine her talking for 30 straight minutes about attack helicopters
She’s the one leaking military documents on war Thunder forums to win arguments
She would do that
That sniper shitpost but it's Lae'zel and how she'd call in Vlaakith to power word kill TPK your party
Fuck it, when I get the new computer running and I do another playthrough, I’mma do red dragonborn
even though they’re objectively worse than tieflings
Yea shame cause brass dragonborn get a fire breath that's a column which I find easier to line up without risking friendly fire
Also admittedly while I do think they can be good
I don’t really like how dragonborn look in this game
Especially the feminine body types
Their heads are to big
The masculine body types are better but the feminine ones look way to big
I think there's one dragonborn specific polearm that gives disadvantage on enemies to your breath but I don't think the breath scales with level
Isn't that like weaker than a cantrip and it's rest limited?
I forget is it a bonus action or action?
It's an AOE, so lagging behind cantrip damage isn't totally unreasonable...but it still adds up to something underwhelming
https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/556 There’s this mod
It's limited to a few casters but Acid Splash is also a cantrip with AoE in bg3
Which comes in more and less overpowered versions
does 1d6 and scales normally
Here’s another one https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/7697
https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/1793 And one more for the road
Since we were talking about bg3 races I looked at them all again and man humans got the short end of the stick
Half elves get all the same equipment proficiencies and fey ancestry alongside 3 subraces with decent minor bonuses while humans get an extra skill proficiency and carrying capacity
To be fair gith are crazy strong in this game
They get a shit ton of good and a bunch of unique equipment
Sure but what I’m saying is that humans get almost exactly what gith get but worse XD
Fair enough
Gith got really buffed, light/medium armor for spellcasters is huge and there's a more number of gith specific magic items than any other race
Like dragonborn get 1, and I believe Gith have 5?
They’re good stuff too
Gith were definitely someone's favorite at Larian cause they added so much support on top of a race that was already good
My guess is they buffed races that they thought people wouldn't want to pick and nerfed the most popular race, humans to encourage more diversity
They were absolutely making fun of the brown-haired male human fighter crowd
During early access
Like it was a thing
It's funny cause Gale is the top played origin character as a PC
“You guys are boring”
And I believe paladin is the most popular so basically a fancy fighter with oaths
Brown-haired male human, yep, tracks
Paladin is a strong and versatile half caster
Reddit: Ok so just invest all your spell slot in smites and never cast
I mean, smites good though
Aye but you should at least be using your level 1 slots for Command
Pro-tip: ring of the mystic scoundrel is really good on paladins
What’s that?
Bonus action to cast illusion or enchantment spells after hitting creature with weapon attack
Oh that is good
Minor Illusion is also great for a cantrip, you can easily use it to distract NPCs to like steal or break in undetected or clump up enemies for an AoE attack
Melee casters have some great tricks
And it works in combat too, enemies will run towards minor illusions casted in combat
And they really priortize it for some reason. So you can draw aggro away from a squishy member with minor illusion
Also good for stealth
It draws guards that normally don't ever move to the other side of the room where the illusion is
Act 2||Us is also seen as a kitty and no one cares
||
Astarion approves when you compliment the cat
some of the companions may be evil but they're not monsters, sort of. I believe all companions will turn hostile if you hurt scratch
Even Minthara
I wish I could have Shovel hang around my camp
There should be more Shovel content
In fact that should be the DLC
Shovel Quest
(I know there is no DLC)
(And there will be none)
I just love how you can rename Shovel and she often refers to herself in 3rd person and they had to like probably double the number of lines for her VA specifically if you call her Fork or Basket
isn't there some kind of bug where if you rename her to fork as a warlock you can't resummon her
Idk if it's a bug but you can't recruit her permanently if you rename her as a dragonic sorcerer or warlock.
I don't think as a wizard either ifyou go the dialogue route, of course wizards can just scribe the scroll then rename her
he has some really neat custom stuff
Custom stuff?
If you do Origin Gale you can get extra spell slots and other goodies
its pretty cool content
I know one gale specific thing is in act 2 ||You can create a shadow lantern that's a club which lets you summon a shadow if you find the dead pixie in balthazar's chamber and looted the broken lantern from Nere and only Gale can create it||
you also get Tara in Act 1 which rules
As origin or companion?
Origin
Gale Origin just has a lot of neat player content within
Karlach and Astarian also have some really neat stuff within; pretty good options for Origins
Gale's cat
Tara's fun. Gale conjured Tara cause his parents didn't let him have a kitten
Also epilogue spoilers ||Withers canonically has tea and lunch with Tara and Gale's mom several times in 6 months between ending and party||
Gale wanted a cat and got a aunt basically.
There's a fun line that Tara said something along like how Gale is the most expensive pet in waterdeep
Ok so this is weird
Yesterday me and a friend lost a bit of progress in our multiplayer playthrough because we accidentally killed a civilian in front of the house of brilliance and we wanted to do their quest
So we stopped playing then
But today when I got on to redo the stuff we lost alone, it defaulted to my friend’s character who interacted with those NPCs before
Despite me clicking on them with my character
If there’s one place I do kinda wish the game did better it was inter party talks
Mostly the companions talking to other companions in more then just those brief interactions while walking around
The fun thing is, BG2 pioneered those kinds of interactions, but it was Dragon Age Origins that laid out the current, “inter-party quips when passing designated terrain features” model
I could see more interparty talk at camp when you rest that'd be fun
Probably not open world cause a cutscene could get annoying when it's just banter and long dialogues without cutscenes mean it could be interupted by a surprise combat and you won't hear the rest
I feel like te Dragon Age games have hte best companion talk
I liked dragon age banter, the weird thing is they say like 2 or 3 brief lines to each other and continue conversation later in the game but the devs seemed to have planned it where in vanilla there's no way to skip dialogue by being in combat as they only banter in areas far enough from a combat that by the time you get there even beelining they'll have finished their banter
the DA writers are really good at banter
https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/9907 now this seems like a fun mod
Hey folks, I’ve got BG3 running with mods on my new machine, but I’m experiencing a graphical oddity with the position of the party selection menu on the left side of the screen (and also the portraits there are blank). Anyone have any experience with that?
I figured it out
One of the mods had an outdated reference to the Improved UI mod
Installing the current Improved UI fixed it
Bwahahaha the default camp clothes for male Dragonborn have no shirt
No wonder Lae’zel is so into it you just wander around like this XD
Nice. I just spent all night last night trying to figure out how to put artificers in the game
I may even just switch to camp clothes full time, I think this is really funny
Using the mod manager? There’s an existing artificer mod
Yeah but I had to figure out how to get it to work
You want a couple of things for mods: the script extender, the mod manager, and the mod fixer
Plus any prereqs for the mod itself
Yeah so figuring out putting all of that in the game is what took me all night
to be fair, it was still trying up until the past hour xD
now to figure out how it plays
My current mods are polyamory because shut up, camp alerts because seriously go install that right now, some misc enhancements for dragonborn, a thing that makes dragonborn tails better, and the UI mod that enables something in there
for female dragonborn too
ehehehe
Dragonborn do not believe in shirts
I think this is now in my personal canon
I ended up taking the weird dragon bra thing off for my dragonborn because it felt more suggestive than just having nothing
since female dragonborn have not a hint of boob
https://gamestegy.com/post/bg3/995/abjuration-wizard-build#level-8-wizard-lv-5 I was looking around for fun wizard builds and this looks intensely cool
Hate "best" in the title but
i go oathbreaker/old one warlock in my current playthrough
Today’s discovery: you can break the Oath of Vengeance by letting Auntie Ethel go, even if you also save Mayrina
Probably just gonna stick with Oathbreaker tho, Spiteful Suffering is stronk
Yea oathbreaker seems the simplest to me not to break, if they're wicked then don't not encourage punishing them
I lost my first oath with ancients by letting mayrina have connor
But seeing oathbreaker guy and listening to him speak is why i break oaths
I feel a bit like from a pure optimization perspective, Oathbreaker is better for a companion character since then you don't have to bring them to fights where Aura of Hate works against you
When it's not a face character I like ancients paladin, 2 turns of healing for a bonus action and spell damage resistance is pretty great to me
Ancients is for sure the strongest if you're going up to at least 7
Vengeance is better as a dip since its oath is fine without scaling
That's true
I don't think I've multiclassed a paladin in bg3 surprisingly
I do in ttrpg but like I didn't feel the need to in bg3 cause various magic items can shore up weaknesses
It's extremely good for that and has a whole bunch of breakpoints
You don't even need Charisma
Unless you're going to 6+
Like risky ring means always advantage without multiclassing, and boots of speed usually means you don't need ranged options
Discovery: Sleep can be quite effective against druids since their wild shape forms have low HP
Glyph of warding sleep doesn’t work on elves so my cleric uses it like a close range attack and places it under themselves in a fight
Yeah
It’s amazingly written imo
And it meshes so well with her non-romantic character arc
80% of Lae’zel is defined by her never having had any exposure to any culture but that of the space fascists, and her worldview getting utterly obliterated by culture shock in fairly short order
And her romance makes the PC a part of that process
(The remaining 20% of Lae’zel is thinking about dragons)
I am a big fan of her
It's a fun display of cultural differences too, for gith who are laissez faire about sex cause regular sex as we know it won't cause pregnancy for gith is like an emotionless detached activity to relieve stress for them and they just romp around with each other as needed. But your average creche gith will probably never form a relationship ever cause there's seemingly no benefit or purpose in their society cause Gith under vlaakith won't ever just settle down together in a nice astral plane house to retire they'll be shipped off to increasingly deadlier fights until they die there with no guarantee they'll be deployed together
Relationships are often strictly practical and transient and again Laezel is an outlier for a gith devoted to Vlaakith at first for having romantic feelings of wanting a long-term partner
Or if they get high enough level Vlaakith will literally eat them
Not literally eat them, just eat their soul and turn them into husks basically
Vlaakith Laezel ending is like the worst ending for a companion imo cause in a way she did nothing wrong and she wasn't punished for her own misdeeds but placing trust in someone she shouldn't then the gith who Vlaakith ate just surround her and you can see the moment of regret in her eyes when she realizes she was wrong before being drained
And I learned if you're gith you can also join Laezel and you will also get ate
IIRC she’s trying to use them to jumpstart godhood, in addition to removing the possibility of competition
Yea
There’s a certain twisted logic to it because when a god’s follower dies, their soul does eventually become part of the godhead
It won’t work
But there’s a logic to it
I think for a lot of gods their emissaries claim the soul's from the true neutral purgatory city to their realm
Vlaakith just straight up eats and destroys their soul for power cause she technically has no like deity realm as she's not technically a deity
And also it's a secret to the gith, so she doesn't want gith to know she's gonna eat their soul so might as well just eat the most powerful souls if you're limited in how many you can take
She does also need worshippers
She’s trying so hard to fake it til you make it to godhood
(You cannot fake it til you make it to godhood)
She found a weird loophole, cause while technically she's just a very powerful lich. She can grant divine spells to clerics with her millionth divine law breaking ritual she enacts with the vast resources of the gith emipre
But yeah the normal afterlife cycle is that you become a petitioner, achieve enlightenment after a while, and become part of the godhead
(Enlightenment will vary a great deal depending on the god)
(But being a petitioner is basically variations on Pure Land Buddhism)
Or you get courted by a devil and become a lemure
Or if you’re not on Toril you can just become a regular exemplar
Toril has slightly weird rules enforced by Ao
What god does the githzarai worship
I dont think githzerai have a patron deity specifically so they just worship freely?
Probably anyone but vlaakith
Only reference I can find on the faerun wiki is to fourth edition, where it mentions one city with temples to a pretty random mix of gods. Corellon, Moradin, and the Raven Queen
No one in particular.
they kind of have a vlakith figure in Zerthimon? but its more in line with "we follow his teachings in our lives" rather than a religion
I think Zerthimon also died a natural death, and while there is nominally a wizard king descended from him the githzerai do not really have a centralized empire
Wait I thought Zerthimon was killed by Gith
I don't think so? He left as part of the proclamation of two skies
But he's more culture hero than immortal deified monarch
Hey folks, I’m trying to trigger the “Lae’zel tries to kill you for using illithid persuasion too often” long rest scene before entering the Goblin Camp to trigger artifact cutscenes, and I’ve basically run out of people outside the camp outside of the Underdark. Is there anyone you can use it on in the Underdark or in Grymforge?
hmm. not that many cultists down there. you can try it on the Duergar in Grymforge (but it doesn't work), but I don't remember whether it was an option with the drow there. Maybe the petrified drow? but we killed him in my playthrough so I don't know
Oh she does that? I mean fair, I really don't like being a weirdo who messes with folks heads
Do you remember if it not working counts as a use, though?
I have no idea, sorry.
Gotcha
Is it where she tries to kill you and the other folks at the camp scene
Yeah
Huh weird is it based on tadpole power usage? I use the illithid persuasion like once or twice a game at most
And I usually get that scene where you're having a bad trip by the river then she sneaks up and tries to cut your throat?
Maybe I just missed the trigger
But I keep getting warnings after I use illithid persuasion
“A voice in your head says SOON”
Kinda stuff
I dunno, I’ll try a quick jaunt to Grymforge
I was today years old when I learned you can just pick up a death Shepherd's corpse to prevent them from doing a revival loop on each other
Thanks reddit for being useful sometimes
Ehehehe
Oh also, I solved my question: Grymforge does not have anyone illithid persuadable
However it seems if you have not had the “Lae’zel contemplates murder-suicide, then the dream guardian visits you” scene yet by the time you get the scene where the artifact saves you near the Goblin Camp, you will get it that night
In my multiplayer run we skipped the artifact and seeing the 3 baddies scene somehow
We did goblin camp 2nd to last besides the gith
Just got done with a melee only playthrough of honour mode
Honestly thought it would be harder, but even a lack of healers or casters really didn't hurt as bad due to the abundance of better and better healing potions once you get to act 2
Act 2 spoilers || Ketheric was a bitch though, turning off my healing while also having a stupid high AC and having a pet mind flayer and horde of snacks to heal himself with. Fortunately we had a Karlach, so it all worked out in the end||
||I've never fought ketheric I just talk him down||
||It's still so funny to me that Ketheric attitude flips on a dime if you pick the right dialogue. From "It's nice if you to try, but there's no saving me, I'm to far gone." Sad dad face to "BOW BEFORE I AM THE CHOSEN OF MYRKUL!"||
I still think it's funny ||because when I first killed him we didn't do any of the stuff that let's you see him in his throne room and hadn't spoken to his daughter at all, so he was just just Some Guy in my head. Now I just have neither sympathy for nor interest in him and he's just another evil guy.||
Tavern Brawler Battlemaster with the returning pike is going extremely well
Too bad there are no other returning weapons before Act 3
I actually really like eldritch knight instead
You can toss any throwing weapon that way
Oh I didn’t know that, interesting
I was planning on going for Nyrulna in the long term
I enjoy it but if I have anyone else that’s melee it can get annoying
Mm, troo
My theory is that I don’t want to be locked into throwing as my entire schtick
What do you tend to use as an eldritch knight?
I see the ||orphic hammer|| is inexplicably a throwing weapon
make sure to quick save a lot if you're throwing your bonded weapon, though. If you forget to reapply the bond after a long rest, or if you trip a couple of edge cases then it won't come back to you.
(my group's EK thinks it's from surprise attacks outside of initiative, but sometimes the game just leaves the weapon on the ground)
yeah it seems to be attacks that initiate combat stop it returning
which I kept forgetting with karlach
To clarify: does the combination of Tavern Brawler and Eldritch Knight allow you to effectively throw just about anything?
yes
Hm. I’ll have to think about that then.
Tbh I feel like tav brawler is better spent on monks than throwing barbarians
Just because of the sheer number of attacks that it procs on
I think the trick is that if you start with 17 strength on a strength fighter and don’t intend to use Ethel’s hair on them, it’s close to free
Since it gives you +1 strength
I believe, a few throwing weapons are also two handed and work with great weapon fighting
But I could be wrong
Also the fact that you can get infinite strength potions is kinda cheating lol
Does eldritch knight thrown pact weapon work like other martials? Cause isn't the way regular throwing works is if it has thrown then it deals weapon damage but without thrown it deals damage based on weight of item even if it's a weapon?
it doesn't give the weapon the thrown property, it just makes the weapon you bind return to your hand if thrown and it can't be dropped
Ig there's a lot of thrown weapons that don't have a returning property
The interactions with tavern brawler and other related stuff are unclear
I’m sure someone has figured them out but
Eh
Assuming you still want Thrown on bound weapons, the big one that lacks returning is the ||orphic hammer|| which inexplicably has Thrown
But I think I’m just gonna keep Karlach as a Battlemaster with mixed-use melee and thrown Nyrulna
Also worth noting that the nature of thrown lets you switch returning melee weapons as part of a throw
So you could switch between them if you had some reason to
The big one is in act two there the crab claw thingy lol
drow, tiefling or dragonborn for darkurge run ?
I like drow or tiefling for various synergies
Could be any, give us more information
Class and subclass could be an important factor
I will note that Dragonborn is fabulously underpowered without mods
Yea shame since they look cool
I have mod recommendations if anyone wants them though
multiclass paladin(oathbreaker) and warlock (7/5)
I hesitate between old one and fiend for warlock subclass
I really like doing the "canon" dark urge run of dragonborn sorc at least once
Fiend for sure, and imo I’d advise Ancients over Oathbreaker unless you’re going full evil
Oathbreaker has the best RP options
but really the games power level is not so drastic that theres really a bad choice, imo
Lae'zel is so funny
"I killed four people when I was growing up! I'm a cool evil murderer!"
"Why?"
"They came at me first but I mean I'm still cool and evil--"
Oh god turning down Wyll is like kicking a puppy
I’m very glad I never got the romance scene with him despite his approval being so high
Because I was going after Karlach and I couldn’t handle turning him down
It feels terrible
Hm, Charge-Bound Warhammer or Soulbreaker Greatsword for Lockadin Lae'zel ...
+1 attack/+0.5 avg damage vs. +2 initiative and a cool super move
I want to try a charge bound hammer tempest lock/cleric
There's a moment in the Creche where you find some apples and Lae'zel talks about how a real warrior would never eat fruit
pfft
She's such a dork
I'm honestly surprised there was an achievement for having food that was all alcohol and no secret little animation or something
just drinking for the entire night
Sad
Just clicked a mirror and Tav said "still me - even after everything" XD
This is why scurvy rate is so high among Vlakiith’s army
Rogue undertale ref
Started Act 2 ||by going straight to Moonrise and rescuing the prisoners, instead of visiting Last Light first. Works fine, but I was a bit disappointed that Jaheira confronts you in the exact same spot as if you had entered the camp from the front.||
The gf just showed me the scene with the replacement for Alfira if you KO her, and her scene is hilarious
They know that you know she's about to die so they have her ham it up as much as possible and drop as many death flags as they can fit in
alright dm, i know i missed the first session, so wheres the party? okay, mind if i join them at the next downtime at night? yeah i figured i could like, play a song or something, make a strong impression - wait, i forgot, do dragonborn wear pants? oh well, anyways-
It gets better at higher levels
Did they ever fix the bug(ish) where spells from items would use the primary stat of the last class you took level 1 in?
I believe it's just the last class you took a level in
But yes that's still a thing
I don't know if that's a bug to them but that is still how it works
Mm, yeah. I'm kind of giving them the benefit of the doubt that it's a bug, since it's kind of just...weird and unintuitive design if it's intentional
The alternative would be that it's based on the highest level, I suppose
I'd probably just say if it can be multiple stats then pick the highest for the players sake
Larian already made a good number of changes from ttrpg rules to make players stronger and more diverse like removing stat requirements for multiclassing
BG3 has good armor
Just did the Act 2 boss, much harder on Tactician than he was on normal
In like a very good, satisfying way
I really feel that Tactician has the vibe of a much more definitive experience
once you get fully into the groove, going back to lower difficulties feels weird imo
i did my first playthrough on tactician so i haven't actually tried any of the lower difficulties
in fact me and my friends added a mod to add the Honor Mode modifiers to our modded playthrough cause we wanted a bit of a boost in difficulty
i should try the game a bit on lower diffs to see how it feels
to be honest, we kinda ended up not having too difficult of a time somewhere around the beginning of act 2
prolly cause 2 of our party are sort of habitual power gamers
Same. We've mostly only had trouble when something bugs out (Act 2 prisons ||Wulbren going hyperaggro and then running out the front door||) or because we started a fight in a stupid position (again, often because something inexplicable pissed off NPCs)
Okay, hm. I think I found an issue with the timeline. Minor, but present. (Act 2+early 3 spoilers) ||So we know the curse on Reithwin happened about a hundred years ago when Ketheric first turned to Shar. We know that the absolute stuff didn't start until fairly recently, when he turned to Myrkul to bring Isobel back. And we see in the Emperor's flashback that when he visited Moonrise Towers and got captured it was a nice sunny day out and Moonrise was not enveloped in the Shadow Curse -- but the cult of the Absolute was already present.|| This doesn't quite square.
Unless ||the Emperor is just straight-up lying||
||The Emperor could absolutely be lying||
||was it the cult of the absolute? I thought it was just the ancient mind flayer colony underneath it that he came across||
||the cult of the absolute is super recent and couldn't have possibly been a thing at that time, and we know it was more than 100 years ago because of ansur||
Also isn't ||emperor been in the astral prism for a while?||
yeah
like, long enough for ||ansur, who knew him as a human man, to become a myth, and baldur's gate to like, exist||
||I believe emp is just BSing you, he's fairly manipulative as he pretended to be your guardians before this||
||what part is supposed to be bullshit? ansur recognises him as balduran and doesn't deny any of the stuff the emperor says about their origin||
I meant about gk's comment
||The mind flayer colony is specifically at a very sunlit Moonrise Towers when this happens||
||Unless there was such a colony right underneath it when it was still a Selunite fortress I think that raises a continuity snarl||
||That mindflayer colony was there before moonrise towers iirc||
||The cult of the absolute subjugated it later on after moonrise was built||
And Reithwin was just unwittingly sitting on top of it for a hundred years?
yeah
Okay
more than a hundred probably
I suppose that does work
||I suppose that explains why Myrkul chose Ketheric in particular then||
it's hard to say when reithwin was built but due to d&d's fixed setting weird timescale stuff it could be like a thousand years
||Ketheric just happened to be sitting on top of a bunch of mind flayers that the Dead Three wanted||
Did Reithwin exist before bg3, I don't know if it's preexisting
||Ketheric was the governor of Reithwin||
In which you get to explore quite a bit of the environs of Baldur's Gate
it's definitely at least 100 years old
Yeah I assume it's a relatively old town
Since the Thorms seem like they were pretty set in
I think Larian did create it and the shadow curse tho
(As any good GM has the right to do)
||Ketheric while alive, made moonrise towers as a Selunite, then turned Sharran, and when he turned against Shar when Isobel died then he wiped out all Sharrans and when he was first killed he cursed the lands so everyone would die basically||
he's on some 5D chess quadruple cross bullshit
||Then he got broughy back by Myrkul to basically help start the events of bg3, as for the mind flayer colony? Happy coincidence ig but my headcanon is the nether brain when it was just a elder brain planned for this to happen cause it was the brain under reithwin and likely manipulated the events that led to it's ascension knowing it could break free from the dead 3 champions after being netherized with the help of a 3rd party (your PCs)||
||The nether brain was the elder brain under reithwin during ketheric's life that's not headcanon that's in the game books||
||the Elder brain was playing 6D chess using Ketheric||
I thought he turned ||to Shar after Isobel died, put Dame Aylin in the Shadowfell to get his immortality and power, turned Reithwin into a fascist horror zone with the help of the Sharrans, was vanquished by the Harpers, unleashed the shadow curse in retaliation, and sat in his chair ruminating until Myrkul contacted him and offered to bring back Isobel for his service and access to the mind flayers living under his house||
||No he turned to shar after his wife died, then away when Isobel died||
||I think you are mistaken, Isobel and Aylin both talk about him as a Selunite prior to her death||
||when he got brought back as the dead champion he wasn't invincible so he used dame aylyn||
||Ketheric started off as a selunite when he built moonrise||
||According to the wiki he turned to Shar after her death||
||And I'm pretty sure Aylin says this flat-out||
Ketheric has a wiki
Yes this is correct
||Isobel's, I mean||
I call bullshit no cat would ever say this
don't be mean to Grub!
You know, Act 3 truly gives you the ultimate reward and addition to your panoply
Soap
Well in act 2 ||the crew tried to break out the prisoners using the levers and they ran out the side entrance which has a ton of guards in the way, many were just one shot by the zealots smiting and at the end only 1 person made it out alive which was Nimble, Wulbren almost made it out but was fireballed by accident||
It was absolute chaos
||I played a dash barbarian rogue so I kept up and prevented some of them from trying to fight the zealots alone and they kept running after each fight into the next one.||
you can get soap in act 1
SNRRRRRK
Gotta do that co-op with Weird Alfira
I wonder if you can recreate the dead 3's champions and be the good twin PC party
Orin probably would require mods
:D
i like the tattoo
Wow this is like so specifically and Larian had 3 backup plans for these exact scenarios
I'm gonna be retired and still discovering extremely specific scenarios Larians planned for
They were like player agency will be play agency
Amazing stuff
The flowchart of pathing branches must be insane for bg3
I saw some like behind the scenes structure for ones in ME3
There's some insane stuff
Oh my god Gale
Gale
Please
Please stop
I'm dying here Gale
Gale I did not need to know about your scent fetish
Gale is into omega verse
tav smell also makes lae'zel horny
Sniffa
Canonically everyone says Tav stinks. This gives us an insider view to the developers kinks
I do think a lot of people in the game say you smell bad
I mean I also don't think you take a bath once
Being out in the wilds after a hells-crash would make you stinky too
Jokes aside I do get it, sometimes the salty smell of someone you like/you're into gets folk going, and it adds to Gale's delightful awkwardness
Gale: "I should stop talking" *continues talking*
Considering lae'zel saying "I want to taste you" she is definitely a masochist
I mean considering how time works in the astral plane maybe Gith don't shower
Probably not much dust in the astral plane
Or much water
I just want a writer to say something very unhinged about gith again
You can steal soap early on
Or buy it in Act 3
And if you actually use it, it removes the blood from you
Yea you can find it randomly in act 1 or rarely from merchants
Act 3 is when you're in soap city
it's actually called "baldur's gate"
In my new headcanon Laezel does not use soap unless it's acceptable to creche standard like made from the tallow of a mind flayer or it's many abherrant servants, which is hard to come by cause I imagine creatures that gain sustenance from brains and physic energy don't have a lot of fat to make soap from
It's so much worse if you're a dragonborn
Soap City 3
Probably not that important if I don't know the name, if Baldurs Gate was such a great city then why isn't there a Baldur's Gate 2?
I actually played a dragonborn specifically so I would get those lines and she barely said a word :(
Targedy
It's mainly in act 1 tbf
Huh, I got stuff
She had like maybe one line about how I have the blood of dragons
I was so disappointed
So much hype
maybe you have to be red
lobster man
She has like 3 red dragonborn specific lines if you romance her act 1 but you have to bring it up when available and be proud of it
I recall them being options at times when she talks about vlaakith and her champions red dragon mounts
is this the whole "you dropped the netherstones in a place you can't get them back from" stuff?
Yea specifically iron throne
They had 3 paths in case you dropped the stones there and left
A whole dialogue scene
An NPC that exists entirely for it
For someone probably less than a dozen people have done
Quick question: if I slaughter my way through Wyrm's Rock Prison, is anyone upstairs gonna mind? I don't want to antagonize them juuuuust yet :D
If I remember correctly Yes (it's been a while sense a played 😅 )
Danke
I checked, it appears you can kill the prison fist without alerting the rest of Wyrm’s Rock if you do it right
(Get them to go hostile from seeing ||Florick||)
Hm, I wonder if Barbarian 8/Rogue 4 might actually be better than Barbarian 6/Rogue 4/Fighter 2?
Probably not
What's that a feat and better initiative vs second wind, fighting style, and action surge?
Personally I'd prefer the initiative and feat mostly cause going earlier is usually better if you're not already to remove key targets before they can't really act
I assuming this is a stallion wild heart/thief rogue which is what I've been playing with my crew.
But using larethians wrath as a 2H finesse weapon so I can invest in DEX and use Great Weapon Master while benefitting from sneak attack for the big hits so in this case I care less about initiative since DEX is my main stat and I go first usually anyways.
FWIW this is a dex character, so initiative is not so much of an issue
Action Surge is just such a force multiplier
Honestly if I was going two-handed Great-Weapon Master would probably make an extra feat worth it, since no Ethel hair
Yea can't really think of a feat besides great weapon master that'd rival action surge. But also it's not mutually exclusive since you can do that for your level 4 feat
But I intend for this character to be using Duelist's Prerogative
I find it's not needed to have good stats, im running 17 in DEX just fine
The magic items more than make up for it
Hot take: the optimal race for this build is gnome, since there's the gloves that give +2 dex to gnomes >_>
Between a strong feat like GWM and +1 stat mod GWM just does more imo
Even +2 stat mod I dare say
Yeah I agree, but you do need your attack bonus to hit certain benchmarks to be able to hit at all
But either way it's a moot point since duelist's prerogative
I know exactly where this is from lol
||Ansur|| down
Bardadin at level 12 ... magical secretttttts
I guess ... counterspell and spirit guardians sounds alright?
On honor mode I just take counter spell on all my characters
||Raphael|| down
… did you wish really, really hard?
:P
No I've been cursed with the knowledge many sharts exist and I know none of them
should i romance astarion or Shadowheart as a drow
Depends on who you like more
Your being a drow doesn't play into it much
or just get the polyamory mod
There is one very minor mechanical downside to romancing Astarion, and that is missing out on a certain potion of permanent +2 strength
I guess I should ask, is this a paragon or jerkass playthrough?
resemption durge playthrough
i mean Shart is cute but i dunno Astarion's attitude is mor einline with my vibe rn
(I'm doing the good thing reluctantly and the worse way possible
||also maybe if I romance Astarion, Fibonachi will give more cavia reputatyion in warframe||
My only real comment is that insofar as "abused person starts to deprogram themselves" is a central theme of BG3 companions, the hierarchy is something like Astarion = Lae'zel > Shadowheart > Gale > Wyll = Karlach
Technically what you can do is just, have Astarion himself approach that lady
He won’t get mad with you if he himself accepts the deal
Ehehehe
Ugh, I finally reached (Act 3) ||Viconia|| and like ... why even give her that name? This is not even remotely the same character.
Is it even accurate to like, a non redeemed version of her?
What even happens between the games that she ends up like that
well no because she has a British accent now Honestly it doesn't feel like it. ||Viconia|| was always a bad person but she didn't have the vibe of an abuser so much as a woman who, set upon from all sides, expected little succor from anyone.
And expected to give little in return.
In general, my feeling about BG3's references to the earlier games is that I am doing my best to pretend they are not there, and this will be no exception.
Like, this character is a perfectly reasonable big evil priestess of a big evil goddess.
She's just not ||Viconia||.
OH SHIT I JUST MET THE CHARACTER VOICED BY PHILOSOPHYTUBE
Shadowheart says trans rights
Now to save scum the mirror of loss
wait what
||Nocturne||, in the House of Grief
Save scumming complete, everyone has their +2s and +3s :D
Now to go murder ||Cazador||
Act 3 spoilers
Lae'zel ||is now a socialist XD||
Alright, final thoughts on Astarion's arc: ||the good ending is really good||
Top-notch writing
That's why I actually think Laezel is so good
I have found an exception: I do actually believe this is Minsc.
Ac1 Spoiler
||I love how you try to negociate with the Gith inquisitor in the creche when you're a warlock||
Honestly Shadowheart was probably so flabbergasted she just didn't process it.
Last I check 100k players, which seems great
That's like what, 10% retention from launch which is wild for a story based game with an end
For reference it's expected for any game to only retain 5-10% of players from launch after 30 days and a lot less over a year
||I'm sorry emperor i spend way too much time making my character i'm not letting you changing me into a crack head||
The real consequences of your actions
Although for melee characters ||the 60 ft of fly as movement is really really good||
It's absolutely phenomenal, changes everything
Personally I think just fuckin' ||eating the astral tadpole instead of absorbing it properly is too funny not to do||
Even if it means ||only you can benefit from it||
||well you always have the option of eating it after the first use so the last person who uses it can eat it||
||Aye but leaving Emperor completely fucking baffled is the best way to do it||
It will never stop being funny to me how, in my multiplayer game as a monk, [Big end of game spoilers] ||Going full Illithid was a heavy nerf to my fighting abilities||
||I went from killing like, 4+ enemies a turn, down to one.||
||I forget what does it do again, I remember using Karlach as a barb and like, just not using any of those abilities cause barb||
||It gives you all the tadpole powers, plus a few new powerful ones. Like, you get that one that lets you use actions/bonus actions interchangeably as a permanent passive, and can still spawn the thing for your allies, but it also removes your unarmed attack and replaces it with a once-per turn ability that does not scale off of any of your Monk stuff||
You can, yeah
I guess that's something, although you'd burn up the ki fast
Yeah
I think I did just ||start using a longsword at some point? (I was a gith)||
But I was Open Hand so...
Yeah that sucks
My build would almost certainly benefit from ||going full flayer, but I don’t want to give emperor the satisfaction||
Oh, also you ||can't respec at Withers at that point either||
Being unoptimal out of spite
Respectable
I just thought of how you get to meet act 3 spoilers, John ||Baldur's Gate|| like for real and it wasn't a joke
Like wow that bombshell was just dropped and it took 3 games to come to fruition
Tbf, BG1 takes place around BG and eventually in it, and BG2 way south in Amn — neither is really about Baldur’s Gate.
I'm in act 3 and on one hand i want to finish the game and begin another one... On the other i kinda want to do an actual evil run
And become a squid
BG1 ||does have a bit where you find a shipwreck of John Baldur's Gate. I think werewolves are involved? Idk it's been a long time since I played||
I'm pretty sure those ||werewolves|| hardlocked my brother because he didn't have a save before the timer where ||his party transformed and killed his main character||
||Yeah, there’s an island where Balduran once landed, encountered werewolves, and then left||
||wait how do you spare alfira?||
|| if you knock her out prior to the event as Dark Urge, then the game spawns in a new nice dragonborne lady named Grootslang who gets the ax instead ||
||And the lady is so fucking funny||
||Like, Larian knows you're doing this on purpose, and you know they know, and they know you know they know, and so they give you an absolutely hilarious scene with her||
Act 2 spoilers (?): Did you know a dinosaur can sit on chairs?
Actual Act 2 end boss spoilers: ||I feel like I sort of robbed us of the real fight by accidentally barding Ketheric into throwing himself in the pit. I like being able to pull out a 32 persuasion when I need to, but it felt like shutting off content rather than opening things up.||
honestly you didn't really miss anything and that way is arguably harder
FWIW, ||he always ends up in the pit, you only skipped the first phase of the fight, and the first phase ... isn't really that interesting, by comparison? The highlight is Myrkul's avatar.||
yeah it's just the same as before for a little bit
You miiiiiiight be able to ||deal with some of the adds in the first phase?|| I don’t remember.
you can yeah that's why I said the other way is harder
Huh, that's interesting. ||we didn't really have trouble keeping the adds down, it never got to eat one. Got the cheevo and everything||
||IMO the only real problem is the mind flayer. Anyway, you didn’t miss much||
Thanks, all, that really does help
yeah if that guy rolls well on initiative it can suuuuuuuck
Literally!
On my coop tactician we did act 2 boss like 5 times cause our 5th player wasn't here and 2 of them are completely new to crpgs.
I was an eldritch knight fighter/abjuration wizard and every time i'd get stunned first round
Turns out someone had a certain magical AoE debuffing item in their inventory
I hypothetically might have the same item, but I remembered to send it to camp....after they got the stun off
Yea we didn't realize until like fight 6 and I was wondering why this fight was so hard on tactician when the rest of the game was surprisingly ok with 2 newbies
I never remembered it being that hard on singleplayer tactician then I checked the buffs and one was actually a debuff oops
||Every time he has been alive at the same time as Aylin, he has Dominate Person'd her, and she has never succeeded a saving throw in any of my games||
||It would explain how she got captured||
My favorite thing to do is sneaky-sneak past, yoink ||Aylin|| while in stealth to start the encounter, and then go off from there. Gotta love invisibility.
I am so loud pilled I usually have someone with a teleport just zip their way there turn 1
Yea yea stealth is a stragetic advantage and whatnot but have you've considered I want the violence now
Oh that's what I did the first time around
I was playing a feral gremlin elf whose answer to everything was excessive violence, super chaotic good
and by god I loved just going unga bunga
Also ranged unga bunga, It's very nice to play dual hand crossobow fight or bard and just throw big damage arrows everywhere
Good news ||even if things work out like they did in our game, if she doesn't get whammied turn 1, she dives into Myrkul's personal space and gets one shot. The exact place where her "heal back to 1 HP" trick does literally nothing||
Ig berserker barbarian is most unga bunga, you just need to rage and hit attack and that's it
YOu don't need anything else
100%. I kind of want to swap to longbow bard, though. The range on dual crossbows is just short enough to be annoying
Yeah, ||Aylin is kind of worthless in that fight||
||if she stays alive she shreds, but she's a glass cannon with no preservation instinct whatsoever. Our fighter spent a couple turns chucking her out of the ball pit to get her back on her feet||
There are definitely a lot more better magical longbows than hand crossbows. Hand crossbow is maximize that sharpshooter damage with the extra attack but bonus actions for bards are pretty good and depending on the build worth trading in the 15 damage
Wooooo time to try Honour Mode again!
Last one got bodied by ||Myrkul|| but hopefully this time will be different?
||Drop Hunger of Hadar on Myrkul, it cripples him||
Holy shit powerful
Update: Wyll has entered combat with us
I don't know why but he is temporarily hostile
How long does Temporarily Hostile last?
He's just standing there...
I'd try taking a long rest and see if that resets him.
He wasn't teaching the kids, but rescuing Karlach went as normal
Which is what I figured would happen
Larian effectively sums up the CRPG protagonist
False I don't see a flirting option
Hm, gonna switch my Barb/Rogue/Fighter from Dueller's Enthusiasm to Crimson Mischief + Belm, I think. Just ... gotta figure out who I sold Belm to.
he just hunches right over all the time
started a solo honor run today
not doing permadeath (I died to ettercaps) but I am doing it single save still
my warlock
thinking about whether I should try this again but with a full party, because I'm reasonably confident I could do that permadeath and get the golden dice
Well, started a Dark Urge run with a friend in Co-Op. I, uh. I am glad he decided to be a wizard. ||I cut off Gale's hand||
Still kind of mixed on how ||the first Durge option in the game just permakills a companion||
It's definitely a tone-setter.
Because my friend and I are just looking at each other every time a social situation comes up, because I'm the one with the social skills.
And doing a mental caclulus of "How bad could this actually go?"
fashion souls
I'm not super read up on it but I think the two bigs things are
- more evil endings
- mod support
And lots of smaller fixes and tweaks etc
The ||kuo-toa that promised to build you an army|| will now support you in the final battle. Unless they all died in Act I.
Yessssss
Finally
dang, I killed them in my honor run bc I failed the speech check lol
RIP
You can now start Custom Mode games using Honour Mode mechanics when starting a new playthrough. You'll be able to do this via the 'Ruleset' dropdown. neat
according to steam it doesn't look like patch 7 is out yet?
I'm downloading something on steam right now
And I read the patch was coming out todayu
IIRC, steam hasn't shown the patch notes until like a day after the update before
Well there'#s already a lot
yeah
So first things first will be, they get ported over
I expect all the subclasses and ancestries to be added
I dunno about new content though
Cos of the voice acting problem
You could add new quests that work via like, notes and stuff easily enough
Or maybe recycling some cut lines
Maybe a BG3 cutcontent mod
mm
Save Karlach ending or something
there is that already
It would be nice if you could fix/replace the heart in the narrative but as is the ending says, “she’s working on it”
the ending I got was like "the three of us are carving a path through avernus having an uncomfortable but generally fulfilling time, and have a reasonable chance at fixing the heart in the near future"
Ye but I just mean more, people really want a 'she's fixed' ending
So there'll probably be a mod to do that
it felt conclusive enough for me as someone who is easily frustrated by mediocre endings and romanced karlach
but people do be like that
