#Baldur's Gate 3

Oh my god ranger is actually good
Started reading it for the first time
How is this better than the WOTC reworks lmao
heavy armor strength ranger is very silly
Ranger Durge lookin kinda silly
grabbing multiple elemental resists really helps
I don’t like playing the same class as a party member and I don’t like jaheira
So that works out
jaheira is a druid
Yeah
Don’t know why I thought she was a ranger
She does dual-wield Scimitars, by default
smh emily doesnt think dr00ds can sw0rdz
(They have two droods but no bard?)
I get it in some ways from dev stuff, Halsin wasn't originally planned to be a recruit
Bard is a really good PC choice it just feels a little inappropriate for Durge
And also yeah people really liked him in EA
Is my understanding
he's very cool
He's a hugely buff elf with a friendly voice and seems like a capable leader and good quest npc
He does seem quite cool, I really oughta use him sometime
Tbh minthara is kinda the only non-origin companion I fuck with
He just seems kinda, chill and nice
Feels like a Solid Bloke
A Good Lad
Actually kinda gives me Reggie vibes now that I think about it
:0
I will continue providing my first playthrough confusion and "AHHHH" to the channel when it happens
Please do, sorry about all the untagged spoilers
I know some things have been spoiled to me though
It happens
I am also enjoying being a bard
Is Minsc a ranger? I always felt he was a Ranger with Boo as his animal companion
he is!
Good, yes
Minsc is a GOOD ranger man
Since he’s supposed to be a fake Barbarian
love him very much
I haven't tried it yet BUT having extra bodies is reeeeeally good in bg3
gonna get Minsc and Braum and I'm gonna rub them together
mostly i just dont like having to take all the extra turns lmao
and Hunter Ranger is like... insane damage output with Volley in this game
Is melee ranger good too?
Sure
yeah
Hunter works as whatever
Ranger is genuinely good in bg3
I wouldn’t say none
It just makes u a bad person
My friend is looking forward to playing a wild sorcerer, anyone done that run?
But the balance is pretty good
Wonderful
Oh man, I need to get back to my BG1 replay
I’ve solo’d BG1 a whole bunch of times but never completed it with a party
So I was finally doing it with a squad
wild sorcerer effect where you wake up as a prisoner on a cart scheduled for execution
love Withers so much
Withers is an insanely funny addition to the game
Like he FEELS very much like a TTRPG character your GM introduces for some houserule shit
“Uhhhh yeah this skeleton walks up to your camp and says “for 300 gold I can respec your character”
i love how he just
does not give a shit about like anything
refuses to answer questions in any kind of satisfying way
also just like
if you want a fun bit of dialogue, try to kill him
knowing who he is after finishing the game
||that shit is so fucking wild to learn||
Epilogue spoilers:
||him kicking your ass if you try to hurt anyone is really funny to me. Just “CUT IT OUT. GO HOME.”||
(ending scene spoilers) ||Withers trash talking the dead three and being just like, mildly annoyed at all the insane bullshit they caused is really funny||
||could be worse, me and my party killed the mom and the baby in both our playthroughs||
||I went to pet the baby but she went aggro so I had to kill the baby first||
||tbf, the second one was on accident, one of our summons decided to beeline the baby to kill it||
||first time was intentional though||
I did feel like ranger was a bit too similar to Paladin
I wish it had more of its own thing
don't worry ||she was probably gonna eat her baby||
wtf
owlbears are cannibals y'know
i mean ||the baby did eat the mother's corpse but she was dead||
this is a spoiler but ||if you have speak with animal you can talk to the baby owlbear later on and he says he had a brother but that mother ate him||
you'll see him again at ||goblin camp||
and then ||if you free him there, by murdering all the goblins, you'll see him later at your camp||
these two feel.. similar? i s'pose spell progression..
They will use very similar gear
you can also just buy him
Ranger and Paladin are the parallels to druid and cleric w/ fighter respectively
both are 1/3rd casters with a martial focus
though you cant really make an archer paladin w/out sacrificing a lot of goodies
i wanna punch her

talking smack about me god while i never really talked smack about hers
when i get cookies for everyone she wont get any
btw
at the goblin camp
if i kill everyone in a specific room
are they going to notice it?

So if you are very quick you can prevent it
Without spoilers, keep following her character arc and show her compassion. You will be particularly interested in where it's going.
With (heavy Act 2) spoilers (seriously these are big don't click recklessly) ||if you play your cards right she will forsake Shar and turn to Selune at a climactic moment||
Oh i think if you kill the dude in that room, the big boss dude, the entire rest of the camp aggros
so maybe not best idea to try and kill him
I think
At least until others are dealt with
did you find the trick to the outside area btw? The booze tub
Oh the owl bear should be at the goblin party
oki
I wonder if the bunch of children we see or hear about in bg3 will return as playable chars in bg4 if they make it
Warlock Mol, Druid Arabella, and cleric/paladin Lily
That little necromancer girl at the cemetery
Wouldn't Arabella be a Sorcerer?
Proximity to a powerful magic item (the Idol) rubbing off on her, from what I understand
Possibly; Shadow Sorcerer from her time in the curse?
There could also be ||Githyanki child option for Lae’zel if you let her keep the egg||
Jaheira Is There Again
She’s too old
Wonder if Astarion would show up in bg4
Jawhereveryouarea
And if so would he be Batman or Cazador mk2
He better be Batman
Somehow sarevok returned
big ogre buddy?
He's a big fluffy
and no threat to anyone
which means he's easy to kill and you should totally kill him
i'm a dark urge who can be trusted around other people so you can trust me

wish he could be my buddy
imagine
going round with beeg ogre buddy
anyway
time to think of a plan
I just went to the castle wall and rained death upon them
while putting down a cloud of dagger on the hole that goblins use to climb up the walls
there's probably more subtle solutions
and also less subtle solutions
Theres a ton of ways to do it!
When I'm going aggressive, I like to poison the booze
i poisoned the booze and told the goblins that they should ocnsider it an honor
I could have chosen to stab them instead
but they mercifully died choking and screaming on poison
I just fought the entire camp head on
They're a bunch of goblins, what're they going to do?

idk
but i do have a spell that can work for me in that way, not as damaging as the uuuhh
dagger thingy
but it should do the trick
that's not supposed to happen
You can have ogre buddies once
By allying with the 3 ogres and getting their horn which only works in act 1
Best place to use it is outside the goblin camp or boss room
It never seems to work when I try to use it in the boss room
It just doesn't work. Nothing
I think there's something wrong with your game they're supposed to be alive 😉
spoiled cause yeh spoilers early game, he stole my do >:c
raphael is way too fond of animal metaphors
Just cause you're a devil and am embodiment of lawful evil doesn't mean you can't be an animal lover
but he hates animals
or well, he hates kittens anyways, which are the most important animals
I do wish you could have some different buddies along the way
but that's what DLC is for
I want a goblin party member
or dwarf. Or halfling. or gnome.
I want a fellow smol
smol
gith was one that surprised me

to be fair I was making her read heresy at the time
what's your party look like Skully?
oh i have the gith, cleric lady and vampire fella
Oh dear oh dear
Shadowheart and Lae'zel do not often get on
are you romancing anyone?
not really
i was thinking on shadowsun but she started being real mean to me so i just
yeah Shadowheart... like she gets better apparently but she's pretty rough at the beginning
Have you met Karlach?
Shadowheart is pretty rough at the start, yeah. Lots of them are very terse and mean at the start
Fair fair, I found her before the goblin camp
You might like Karlach the most
so you gotta work a little magic on her
Karlach does little fornite dances when she idles and I love her
yes
where can i find her? i'll go there once i clear this place out
I like Lae'zel because I have several problems that need to be professionally examined.
So you know the ruined town?
If you go right, there's a bridge you can jump
yeah
just keep going right and she's below an area called the toll house
ok ok
Also the toll house has some cool stuff in it if you get the basement key (and deal with the people inside, but that's something Karlach asks you about)
There's so much just extra stuff in the basement, cause you have to get the key, and then there's a puzzle, all stuff
What's your class?
oh yes I remember you saying
Powerful foks
No wonder Shadowheart's rude to you as well
I don't think she gets on with other gods
I'm getting me ass beat so i don't feel like im cheating either
specially mine
i picked the one that's a rival to hers
Yeeee
Bard ones tend to be performance and persuasion. I got a really cool one where I remembered stories I'd heard about a place and it gave me advantage on the history roll.
What race did you go with?
Moonbeam very powarful
One thing with Karlach that I found hilarious is that she's so strong that she can grapple and throw smaller characters quite easily
I had her in the goblin area, I threw a goblin at another goblin
lmao
I'm just going to the high ground and moonbeam the one path to me while riddling it with grease and death from above
i hope the leaders don't solo me
They can be difficult
I know I convinced Priestess Gut to see me alone in a place and I ambushed and killed her
ooh
And I took out some of the ones around the drow lady before we began to fight because she's a little separate from others
i killed everyone who was asleep outside, could try something like that here
made friends with bear man
(the drow lady is also recruitable if you're being evil, and there is a way of dealing with that, but it's a bit tricky and I don't want to spoil if you don't want to)
Halsi is great yes
also "someone in the camp wishes to talk to you" how do i know who thay is?
The big guy who's asking the corpse questions is tougher, but I made his fight a bit of a joke by casting hideous laughter on him so he was out of the fight for a while, while I dealt with his allies then piled all on him
They usually have a little exclamation mark
don't see anyone with that, funny
right
oh found em
So what I did in his fight, which was dumb but really fun, is I climbed up to the rafters on the ladders in there, and I dropped a bomb on the group below to do some chunky damage, then we had a rafters fight!
It's not very good if people get pushed off of course
I positioned my archers up above in the rafters
and then savescummed a shot on the goblin mage to launch them down into the pit below with the spiders
ha
once they were down everyone else just kinda... fell to Lae'zel and the fiery greatsword from the first big devil guy you fight
that weapon is unreasonably hoss and I love it
You can also pick up a goblin and beat a goblin to death with it
Using improvised weapon attack
i think i'll pull something similar to what i did outside
i have minor illusion on the vamp fella
i'll lure em to a spot and grease them, then moon beam them, and arrow party
funny
So you have ten rounds of dealing damage while no one can harm you
yeah so if you cast sanctuary on yourself you can just cast moonbeam and watch them fry
Though I don’t use that for my radiant build
I want to be attacked
Gotta trigger my cracked helmet lol
What might be fun is to go up into the rafters and grease areas that people have to walk on, and see if the people slip off the rafters
I wish one of the sneaky classes was more fun for melee stealth
I’ve tried it a lot of ways and it’s always kinda, just okay
what feat should i give to vamp friend?
i'm using him for stealth kills most of the time so idk
If you're keeping him as arcane trickster, the one that reduces the number by which you have to crit is nice
but you can also just pump up his stats, I'm always a fan of that
stats up = good
I found Arcane Trickster doesn't quite have the kick in this, the spell list is so.. idk, and limited mage hand..
good
As a rule, Thief rogue is really strong
It gets an extra bonus action
If you do multiclassing, dipping it is widely beloved
Arcane Trickster gets a lot of mileage out of Shield
That do be useful
I made them assassin and they're strong
Specially with sleeping enemies it just rios them apart
i'm dipping 4 levels into it for my Way of Ascendant Dragon Monk!
There are some great items for arcane trickster, like a longbow that can steal first level spells on crit
There's a ring that let's you cast illusion spells as a bonus action if you attacked
It's in Act ||3|| in ||the dinosaur land in the top right corner hidden on a platform with a skeleton||

throne room is bad for the rafters thingy...there are too many paths they can take also a lot of casters
i wonder if i can drag some of them to a corner and
Maybe
to be fair I dropped a bomb on them from the rafters as the opening fight
which helped with the whole casters thing
Once/Short Rest
I have Lae'zel as en Eldright Knight because team needed Int and do love a turn of 'fuck you, 25 AC'
huh
turns out just spamming stealth attack fromm the rafters was enough to take out the lady that brands folk
my multiplayer group accidentally triggered that fight by wandering into the pit below them. turns out, they have LOS through the floor.
the camera was not happy with our decisions

@austere hinge u there?
||dream person is telling me to absorb the parasite, should i?||
ooh
Personally, I have decided not to absorb more parasites
I do not trust things
But I may be wrong
i absorbed one
dont think i'll get any more of these
dream person feels real suspicious
There are some around. I remember there was a bottle of them in Halsin's lab
I am just... unsure
The rafters are hilarious for doing some real damage to folk
Assassin Astarion and Wyvern's Poison does some funny stuff in Act 1
It’s a bummer Assassin doesn’t do anything against bosses, I feel like it’s where it should shine
It's not the greatest opener, but it sure is an opener
Not sure if it will get sneak attack bonuses if you use Astarian though
normally I'd say "it's not an attack, so it can't get sneak attack", but I never know what things've changed for BG3.
it's gonna be fun for me when i get to higher levels with my new monk character
lvl12 is going to be so fucking good
action, 2 bonus action, extra attacks, i'm going to be doing some real punching action during fights
it wont get sneak
Well, still a good boom
very much so
it killed both casters so we gucci
we also managed to clear out all of the other rooms before so
:c i've been scammed
Why
anyway everyone dead
anyway. ya know the ||treasure room|| in the goblin fort?
||it had way less gold than it seemed to have||
it has good magic items and a key item for later!
The iron gud yes
This is religious discrimination
I get whipped every playthrough
Must acquire all permanent bonuses
All of them
Except the strength potion
And the Scalp
that gives you bonuses?
It gives you a status effect that does... Something
The whipping is a buff of some kind when you go down to like, under 1/3rd health?
Karlach?
She is a bit north of the Druid Grove, but you have to go around since there's no path straight there
(There's some jumps you can do to shortcut there, but)
Do you have Wyll?
Balder gate
She's in the area of his quest marker, if you picked that up
Like, around it
Not in the area, just that general location
what's Wyll?
Another companion

You can find him in the grove
he jumped into your fight with the goblins outside the gates to the grove. he's hanging around in the grove...somewhere. Near where the tieflings are living, maybe?
oh
(literally jumped, apparently in EA he'd die to fall damage a lot)
i'll go look for him now that all the goblins are
He's training them to fight,

Or, he was, no idea where he goes after you kill the goblins
Almost certainly not
oki oki
Honestly, he might show up at the party going "Hey, you seem pretty good, let me join you"
I lost him forever when I killed the goblin camp without his presence
According to the wiki he'll pop back up again: "If the Druid's Grove quest is completed, ||Wyll cannot be found within the Hollow anymore. He will instead appear after recruiting Karlach upon taking a long rest.||"
Ah that explains it
Also there is a halsin now
He's pretty neat, but having him whine about how he's a ||devil now|| to my tiefling makes me go <.<
i forgot where to find her
Go right of the Village
Or my route is to go right of the owlbear cave
You'll meet a dog, and theres a river you can jump
a deadly dog?
Basically go right as far as you can from the ruined village
No you can talk to the dog and calm it down
The dog is next to a dead body all very sad
Ah yes that will happen
Spoders
You can get out I'm sure
i've been here a while aaa
Remember you can check your map for places you haven't been before and can help direct you
Also should have teleport options
yeah, you can almost always fast-travel
Yeah no that happens to me too
left-alt hotkey is the best hotkey
Karlach and Wyll are good. Wyll can be a bit wet at times but he's decent.
I like having a team of Karlach Wyll and Lae'zel, two good beans, Lae'zel, and my tomfoolery
i have a few fave combos
shadowheart, laezel, astarion is hilarious; gale, minthara, astarion is very sassy
gale+laezel is also a very fun combo
Shart and Lae'zel needle at each other almost constantly, and I feel like everything I do to impress one annoys the other
After they have their... Act 1 Moment, it turns into begrudging respect, which is fun
I kinda want to just hit Gale with a stick, I'm the snarky fool in the party.
he just wants to give you trivia so your team can win quiz bowl!!
I'm the bard here
🗞️
🗞️
🗞️
Get your ass back to camp Gale
I'll probably do a run where I take him along and it's basically folk I haven't played with before. But I don't do too well with smug buggers so he and Astarion are almost always at camp. And SHeart
they'd make a very fun trio for a next run!
i rotate people constantly so ive never really had a set party outside a durge run where i... ran out of options lmao
I sometimes switch out Wyll but Karlach is too fun and I want to experience Lae'zel
lae'zel has so many good story moments i completely get you
Recently found that heresy disk in the arcane tower
she threatened to cut off my toes
I didn't know she did PDA's
the forbidden text!
I still need to do a playthough with Shart tbh
Shadowheart and her romance have a soft spot in my heart
I think she's got a very sweet arc esp if youre supportive of her
I find it hilarious that Shadowheart is willing to do polymory with anyone EXCEPT Lae'zel
Which is unfortunately why she's in the camp
AIUI it none of the origin companions are willing to share with each other
Some of them are fine with it at first then basically make you choose later, which I do believe is cowardice
Gale is a god damn hypocrit as well because he's strictly monogomous except not when he's ||diddling with Mystra himself|| so I continue to hit him with a shovel.
This is why I mod
Poly mod, or just... add it to the game Larian you cowards
Wyll and karlach poly relationship
Locking horns
I think my favorite is the mean girl team of Shart, Laezel, and Minthara
For an easily missable companion she is a really well written character with great lines
So poetic in an evil way
And her VA
My favorite banter in the game is Wyll striking out HARD with Shadowheart and Lae'zel
Her romance routes are nuts
So many cool variations and shes such a true homie

i saw the romance option with shadow lady
and honestly
not gonna go down that route
it feels so weird with her, she's so mean to me(and i picked the god who's opposed to hes)
Funny enough that gives you a unique romance dialogue
Shadowheart ||got really annoyed that she was his second pick lmao||
Poor Wyll
i thought it might
|| "Kiss me like you hate me."
"Easily done. How will I ever explain this in my prayers?" ||
||As a servant of goddess of abandonment clearly abandoning her religiously indoctrinated animosity towards Seluniges by kissing them is the best way to serve her goddess||
Truly sharran devotion is the most oxymoronic of faiths
If you are truly devoted to Shar, you would not worship her.
For to be devoted is anathematic to the sphere of abandonment
oh shit
smooching hours
It's cool they added a whole crpg to this dating sim
I wonder if they’re doing. Anything for Valentine’s Day
I think the kissing update is coming out then
Yeeee
what's a crpg
Computer Role Playing Game
oh
Hey good news I am entirely sane don't worry about it
It's actually Crunchy Reese's Peanutbutter Gup
short king
Hyenas are more closely related to cats
is this the right way?
To the east, you'll find a crossing back to the grove/south side of the river. She's on the other side of that crossing
There is also a dog outside the goblin camp
I cast tashas laughter on one just so I could beat on the other with a big stick
They are tough
But yes, karlach
Woo
There do be cool shit in that basement though
One of the ways to Karlach has a dog
i think i'll just pull a stealthy bastard again
we call that "tactics"
viowence
I had to try multiple tactics to fight ||the duegar|| because I got bodied so hard a few times
I'd eldritch blast
A few ambushes clearing out side areas and playing hide and seek around a corner while the enemy had an adventure with grease bottles and cloud of daggers.
I feel like the reason my party didn't have too much trouble even on tactician is cause two of us were power gamers
Our Paladin in particular had some nasty combos to drop on unsuspecting enemies
My warlock felt a bit underpowered but it might just have been the monotony of casting Eldritch Blast for every fight
I mean paladins are always gonna be stronk
He could drop 400-600 damage in like one turn if he was prepared
Hard to feel strong when your ally can just drop bosses at a moments notice
simply break their oath and run away
He basically 1v1'd both (Act 2/3 spoilers) ||Avatar of Myrkul and Ansur||
We were on tactician so it was pretty dang impressive
The band of the scoundrel makes things crazy
/seven hour rant about paladins and 5e balance
I'm a bard, so I'm the opposite. I'm here to unbalance the skill challenges
i played Warlock in that first run so all i had was a railgun(eldritch blast) which made every problem look very much like a target
I'm wearing multiple rings of skill boosting, gloves of thievery, and I know the spell friends, speak with dead, detect thoughts and speak with animals.
Freyja with the hammer/nail problem, me with the multitool approach
i also had a sick as necklace which let me turn into a dire raven
my spell slots were usually otherwise occupied with Counterspell
That
is a sick ass necklace
I mean all the spells I've listed are ritual spells so literally just free to cast all the time forever
i just had my Eldritch blast
It's a VERY good spell, I've been enjoying it through Wyll
tbf shooting a railgun powered by invocations and 22 charisma like 3 times every round is still pretty good
I keep debating a dip in wizard just to memorize ALL the rituals spells
I also have a club of hill giant strength equipped because I don't melee stuff often so now my 8 strength halfling is one of the strongest party members, for when I need to pass strength checks and carry all the shit I'm looting
i'd prolly dip a point in wizard on my monk but i don't have any space for a wizard level since i'm already dipping 4 levels into thief rogue
...hm. but is this actually all the ritual spells? https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Ritual_spells 2/3 of them are Disguise Self's variants...
As a lore bard I just stole lightning bolt from wizard and that weapon summon from cleric
i'm doing way of ascendant dragon monk so i wanted to grab that extra bonus action from thief rogue for maximum punch
Honestly those are more ritual spells than regular DnD gives you, at least without including spells that aren't worth the time and money to do them.
Like oh I can ritual spell identify I just need a 50 gold pearl first
Or you can just know what you picked up
yeah lol
I just think it's weird how there's a few spells that are rituals in tabletop, but not BG3. like, idk, Knock
Also I cast lightning bolt at my enemies and hit four Duegar at once, and Cutting Words'd the guy right in front of me so he failed his check and took the full damage.
looking forward to having two bonus actions, an action, and extra attack on that
Okay so I was in ||Grymforge trying to figure out a good way to start the Duegar fight, and I noticed the two standing by the entrance of that hall are right by a ledge. So i thought I'd try and be smart and I shoved the main guy off the wall and onto the floor below... and he didn't aggro. He did get up and heal and go back up to his space though. So I move Karlach down there, shoved him off again, and for some reason that time everyone DID aggro, but karlach killed him, and the other dwarf I pushed down after him, just chunking them both while I threw a grease bottle at the direct door, then dropped a cloud of daggers so it became a slippery blender and that's when I stepped out and lightning bolted the four chumps gathered together.||
thats one way to do it!
||i like to use Diplomacy to turn it into a duergar vs duergar fight to help against or with Nere and then deal with the remnants in a few different ways depending on character||
Oh you can make them fight each other?
||I mean they're all a bunch of slaver scum, even the nice dude who asks you for help with archeology So like... didn't feel too bad about it. I even took the chest full of weapons I sold the guy back and sold it to someone else for a ton of money.||
In exchange for selling your soul
nah
no need to do that last part
||If you talk to them one of them will prompt you about helping kill Nere, who you probably want dead anyways, so you can help him out, get them to help you kill half the duergar, and then either turn on him or tell him to fuck off and leave the gnomes free||
I've developed a habit, and it's a silly one but what I do is I get a chest, and whenever I kill someone in battle and their weapons are just normal chump weapons I give them all to Karlach and put them all in the chest Karlach is carrying. The weight is still there, but she's a strong lady. I then just sell the whole chest when I get to a merchant because it sells for everything inside it too.
i dont consider it evil so much as the path of least resistance
I took them all out then opened up the cave in and killed Nere myself.
just something to try for a future run!
doing so even gives you one of my fave lines of dialogue if youre a certain subclass
I don't think that's quite the 'hard way', I think the hard way is opening it up and having to fight them and Nere all at once, which is rough
Oh?
Oathbreaker Paladin: nere will tell you to help him and you give him a line along the lines of ||"I have already betrayed my oath, my faith, my word. Betraying you is nothing to me." ||
bard gets some very fun ones
I wish I'd seen more halfling ones more often
Maybe once I've got to Baldur's Gate
You can get Halfling ones when in the Tiefling camp talking to folk
One from the lady cooking, one from Autie Ethel, one from the guy who is scared shitless of Lae'zel, and one when you're breaking up the fight between the two guys immediately after the first goblin fight.
the main thing youll get there is all the holes you can fit in
True, I've stuck my hand in many a hole
have you crawled through any
Yes, but also there's a wall full of holes in the underdark that as a small race you can stick your arms into and I pulled out a really beautiful gem
I know there's even smaller holes though
Which I'm not sure what you have to do for those. Perhaps a Druid thing? or a spell? I'm sure I saw Duegar using reduce spells
they don't work with familiars, but I'm pretty sure ||Gaseous Form|| works.
Ohhhh that's fair, yes yes
I saw a hole that could let you into the basement of the toll house if you couldn't find the key
Also I solved the little puzzle in there by accident
It feels weird with a club of hill giant strength, because it's so not worth using it on an actual fighter, because it like... maybe gives a +1 over their usual stats? And as a weapon it's kinda pants since it's a 1d4
But on my bard that stays at range and pings people in the face with a pair of hand crossbows it's an amazing carrying weight buff and jump distancer
I'm currently having a great time using it with the Titanslayer longbow on Astarion
With Sharpshooter, he's regularly getting like, 40+ damage a turn
its really good as a "i dont need a weapon" weapon. finally, gale and wyll can Jump
Every other combat he just instantly kills an enemy from full health
The Astarion Railgun
Thing is I probably should have like a magical staff
I have a crone's staff
but it feels weird to have a magic staff as a bard
if you aint using the staff's stuff, just use Da Club
or offhand it for one-handed stuff
True, could keep it on the offhand
dual wield staves one handed and just be poppin the spells they got
my group blocked ourselves off from that one
we ||cut a deal with Rugan|| so we had to fight. (and then the buggy jerk ||started a fight when we untied him...||)
Rip
This isn't to say I haven't panic swung the club of course, it still DOES damage, even got a kill with it
Oh, the club's good on Monks, too
Cause it's a MA weapon so they use their weapon dice instead
Truuuuuu
I'm gonna be a monk second run through I think
.... or maybe go tavern brawler
I do love the idea of just being a stronk boy tavern brawling folk
Tavern Brawler is very strong, I believe
Because they made it so it doubles your Strength modifier for attacks
My preferred Tavern Brawler is Fighter 1/Open Hand Monk 8/Thief Rogue 3
(Unarmed and Thrown attacks, that is)
tavern brawler monk with the club and open hand damage dice is funny, with additional stuff from items
i dont mc, just 12 monk, and it was doing 200+ damage in the end game
Damage and Roll
Truly someone had problems with STR being lame in 5e
later you get stuff like 23 str gauntlets and 18 dex gloves and stuff and you can just make the beefiest stat monk ever
why fighter 1?
it's so busted in BG3
Heavy Armour Prof, I think
Heavy armor, shields, defense fighting style
ah ok
Really solid 1-level dip
i might do something like that as well
i wanted to go 4 thief rogue for the feat but it might be more worth it to have proficiencies
I mean it just depends what you want to do
Heavy armor and shields gives you great itemization
yeah
makes the monk animations look kinda silly
i am doing a modded run with my friends so having armor profs gives a lot of potential
still don't really need weapons since unarmed attack is kinda nice with monks but getting access to armor would be kinda good
Yeah but an 85 pound chainskirt and a wall shield isn't captain america
i have pretty good unarmoured AC atm
I don't know why they killed Monk Slow Fall though
was thinking about going for The Graceful Cloth
it's so easy to just get Featherfall Somehow why not just let monks have their thing
but i might do that then when i get to later in the game where armor has better AC i might switch
Also, and this is fun, give your monk a ranged weapon that gives them advantage against certain creature types — like the anti-monstrosity crossbow
It’ll apply to melee
It’s rad
i'll need to keep an eye on that!
Also just a real ton of monstrosities
Yeah lots
They didn't want creatures to be beasts because it'd make Rangers and Druids silly
but this bites 'em for it
i have a few items planned out i want to grab
there's a 29 strength belt one of the mods adds in that i absolutely need
then the Gloves of Soul Catching cause they are super fucking good for monks
That’ll take a lot of pressure off going for heavy armor, admittedly
they are incredibly fucking good
potentially i might grab the Helldusk Armor as well if nobody else in my group would benefit more from it
otherwise i'm considering The graceful cloth
I really don't get it, they made Featherfall a Ritual Spell that lasts for 10 turns but apparently Monks being able to not take fall damage by spending a reaction is too much?
I imagine, like many things in bg3, it wasnt a "this will make monks broken" and more "for one reason or another, monks being a late addition made this weird to code"
this isn't like, the best item ever, but it could be quite good for getting my dex to 20 if i am not going to grab anything else for the slot
There’s also a pair of feather fall boots that you can just put on as needed
there is an amulet that gives you feather fall and lets you transform into a dire raven
sick as fuck
personally i think the auto-18 dex gloves on a monk are fun so you can put your points into con/wis instead
You can, but then you need to get through like the hardest part of the game with low AC/Dex Save so maybe respec into that
I don’t like putting stat-raising gloves on monks because then you can’t use monk gloves
Also that, there's some really good monk gloves
true
and ofc respec, you should be respeccing stats constantly to use the cool item boosts
they are good
but not better than these
more damage, healing/advantage AND +2 con is too good
Ok but those are like, mid-late Act 3, and you can get the dex gloves in Act 1
I'm loving the game so far and I am looking forward to future DLC's, because I highly suspect I will buy them
fair
yeah what madeleine said
i might grab the gloves to have for the earlier part of the game
I’m a big fan of the lightning charge gloves
But there are also just solid +1d4 damage gloves fairly early
i will have no use for Graceful cloth
Those only apply to thrown/improvised weapons, no?
Which ones?
Can’t remember the names offhand but there’s at least one pair that gives a bonus to weapons and a different bonus to unarmed
But I just use lightning charge gloves
Cause I like em
There's the Flawed Helldusk gloves, but I wouldn't call those "early"
I think there’s another pair that are sold by the lady outside the gith camp
Ah, yeah I see those
i think this might be good clothing for act 3
Part of the reason I like the Heavy Armor Tavern Brawler build is because it can get 24 strength if you ask Astarion to bite the horrible woman, and then you get to use the fancy monk gloves of your choice on top of that
Since if you go into the mountain pass before killing the goblins all the tieflings die
So it the gravy just keeps getting more grave
Yeah but they’re still earlier than the Dex gloves
By like, 10 minutes
The lightning gloves are kickass
I think I used those from like, when I got them to when I got the soul catching
That’s what I’m having Karlach do
Honestly I think the only other gloves I was really interested in were the bracers of defense?
Also also: if you do all this with Astarion and you don’t mind a little mass-murder
The boots of Kushigo are amazing too
||Astarion can get his bullshit unarmed damage bonus from being a vampire :D||
oh boy, i do like the look of those kushigo boots
Yeah the boots of Kushigo are rad
Come to think of it, with those, the ||Khalid amulet and the hag hair|| you could get Wis to 18 and Strength to 24, for … like +18 damage per hit? Before other stuff.
Obviously overkill
But I like overkill
There is no kill like overkill
i'm already going with the 29 str belt so i might as well grab some Wis buffs
god 1d10 force damage unarmed attacks
I made Minsc a Monk (monsk??) and slapped these on him
that's gonna be on top of all the radiant damage imma be doing
and also the extra damage from Tavern Brawler
had Minsc fuckin' people up left and right
(i'm a Way of the Ascendant Dragon monk with a crystal dragon focus so my unarmed attacks do radiant damage)
it is
i'll attempt on killing an old lady
any advice? u probably know what i mean
Have access to water
thrown weapons like alchemists fire and acid do an a small amount of unavoidable damage in an area, even if enemies make their saves
be fast
Have fun!
That's genuine advice, being able to get around the arena for the old woman is very useful
Throw water to put out fire, throw fire or acid to always do a little damage, helps with illusions, and good luck on violence. I hope you didn't let her lick you.
twilight cleric time
i didn't trust her from the start
a ||hag|| can't be that much better than a ||demon||
They pretty much are the same for Night ones
something funny i like to do in fights is
send in main character
cast sanctuary and moon beam
shenanigans for 9 turns
send in the rest of the party
It do be powerful
2-20 damage per turn is a lot of damage for 9 whole turns
Yee
Meanwhile I accidentally set off a... nasty surprise in the underdark, got paralysed and my head bitten, almost died in one hit
Bard hours
oh no
Did you Anakin skywalker the goblins
I was about to make a very bad reference
but I went about the ones outside in an alternative way
i have to kill them and eat their brains so i become as intelligent as their boss
you gotta make the deal with them and i think not kill the goblin camp to summon em iirc
He’s wearing a headband of Intellect
If you fight them you can take it off of him
i got the horn after killing goblin camp
theyt didnt become agressive

can i still eat his brain?
I mean if you like? I’m saying you can in fact become as smart as him :D
I mean... give it a try!
worst that can happen is you reload a save
Also I threw the dog's ball and summoned them and they got... well they only have 5hp
they're just like any summon right? It just takes a rest?
anyway time to show the old lady who's da boss

she must think i'm some kind of idiot
i mean i kind of am
yeah, and the dog has a good chance of finding shovel piles
Ahhh fair
Good boy
Probably better to keep them out of a fight honestly, or act as distraction or help
wow she cheats
no she's good
she gives people free apples
and pies
and her lands are full of friendly sheep
and lovely frogs
i liked the sheep
i blocked the door so they couldn't join the party tho
i'll take them for myself
It's funny if you can speak with animals them
secret Donkey Kong platforming section
lmao
am i just free to explore now that i took her out?
i just made this so much easier on myself
It's not five wooden barrels that means a wooden barrel with five things inside
Oh did you kill her before going downstairs?
Impressive, I had to go hunt her down
i had a lightning bolt scroll, that came in handy
Is the reason you were having such difficulty with the fight because you were trying to kill her before she ran into her den?
Because all the suggestions we had was the idea you went through her den and fought her at the end like people usually do.
i almost killed shadowheart with the lightning bolt
I just went through after her and whacked her dead
Oh dear
Also yeah you can look in the barrel
If it's a container in people's inventories then the number on them shows how much stuff is in the container
I use this method sometimes to trade a bunch of stuff all at once on Karlach. I have her carry a chest, then every time I pick up a mundane weapon I stuff it into that container. Then when I find a merchant I sell them the container and like a dozen daggers, leather armours and great swords all at once.
And if I wind up killing the merchant (like the goblin merchant in the goblin camp) then often they have the chest I sold them in their inventory. So I can just pick it up and sell it to someone else for another couple hundred gold

I have several thousand gold right now by doing this method, and I still buy every random magic item I want, and several I intended to feed to Gale
I had to buy some purple worm poison off a trader because she ran out of money to trade me for my items
And that stuff is NOT cheap
i do not want gale around
also i feel bad about rejecting people lmao
Looks like patch 6 is out
(ignore deleted messages 😛 old patch notes)
But patch 6 is out, 19gb update
He's making a duck
||If you romanced Lae'zel, grab a red dragon and saddle up - you can now join her in the rebellion against Vlaakith, even if you are not gith yourself.||
Act 3 Spoilers
But very cool
"Increased the number of valid methods of knocking Minthara out to recruit her." Good
It will do
It's gonna happen if you mod the game
There's not really anything they can do to stop that
I recommend turning off auto update on steam for BG3 if you're modding it
Same as any other game
I'm gonna do so much stuff with laezel
Could always load an old one to check if it still works
Does the dismissed companion still get pissy at you though?
oh shiiiiiiiii
QoL! QoL!
QoL! QoL!
Whassat?
...well then the patch notes lied
"open camp inventory" button
Oh cool
I know I shouldn't but I like to send books there
Just have a giant library
reading is good
I stream the game and I pause to read each note and book
My favourite one is the book about eels
In Tactician Mode, Dror Ragzlin's Leadership Aura will now also debuff his enemies.
ah shit
The whole party's inventory is now present in the trade interface, which doesn't require you to switch characters to sell their items from their inventories anymore.
this is very nice
Added some extra Narrator lines for the Dark Urge when interacting with Gortash in his office.
:)

Ba...
fuck wulbren
I feel this is getting into spoilers territory
because I'm in act 1 and I helped the dude and he's talking about saving his friend and that's all I know
oh righto
Barcus is a cool guy
he just wants to help his friend/possibly boyfriend?
the issue is ||the boyfriend is a massive asshole. Barcus deserves so much better||
I'm not sure if ||his friend is capable of complex emotions such as love||
neat I cannot read what is being said
Make your own opinions
The spoilers mean nothing
Here's a spoiler you can read if you want leika: ||you roll dice in this game||
i wish i could romance barcus
barcus is just so sad and pitiful and yet kind
We can't have a romancable halfling lady I think Karlach would have conniptions and just be on fire forever
Hey so I started playing BG3 with mods and was wondering if there's a usual turnaround time for when mods get updated after the game updates, like if anyone here has any insight into that? I kinda left off the game with a full squad of 7 and don't want the game to get weird about me loading back in witht he limit back in place. Also item stacking.
Has your game already updated?
Typically I'd give it a week
Although party size mod may have more work to do
Most mods often just need to tweak a few things assuming they were effected at all
But of course that assumes the modder is free to do those tweaks
It updated a couple days ago
Tried playing with the mods on just in case and the game crashed before loading in
For the future I'd disable auto update on steam on games you mod
The option will be something like "only update when I launch"
But if you launch in offline mode or with your Internet turned off for a second you can do it
Does it let me know if an update is available for the game before I launch it?
I have that option enabled. Steam still auto-updates my games
Still worth doing it
Can't recall, but you can check the games news for updates etc
i usually have a 0 of X for my downloads and if i want to update i can just do it then, which usually alerts me to if bg3 has an update
"To Weynon Priory, then"
Is he dubbed by sean bean too?
that's a death sentence
feels like something he would hang in his living room
