#Baldur's Gate 3

I'd agree with that advice!
If it helps, you can change your mind mid-route and go the other way.
Do both, get to the end of one then loop back to do the other
i do think Underdark first is an easier curve
Spoilered for my reasoning ||I suggested it cause, does the game even tell you about Last Light if you go the Mountaim path?||
||And even if it does, with the mountain pass you've gotta double back and stuff||
||You do run into the Last Light Inn survivors as you explore past the Mountain Pass area; for me, the logic is that the githyanki creche and Mountain Pass revenants are strong if you go early, and I think the Underdark is such a cool place with lots of cool content
Mountain Pass feels like Act 1.5 to me||
I strongly recommend doing both.
you get some weird changes if you skip mountain pass
Oh yeah, go back around for the mountain pass
There's some really nice stuff in there
The pass I think is harder bud has better gear so I try to do it first
If you can swing it
You can do both?
I guess I need to start a new run
Or you could save it for the next one
Restarting just cos things didn't go perfect is a great way to burn out
In my current and partly unusable 2p run we skipped it
But every time I try to do multiplayer it kicks me to the main menu right now
When you want to try the tempest cleric sorc build but create water is bugged lol
y’all got any suggestions to help with my OoV Paladin always going dead last in initiative? my dex is at 10 and i’ve tried running at dex 16 with a rapier, but i want the extra damage of 2h GWM
Alert feat later on?
^
There's the uh, Elixir of Vigilance, which you can save for tough fights where you really need to go first
Which is just an Elixir that gives you the Alert feat
🤔 i wonder if Enhance Ability Dex works with the way bg3 does initiative
There's a few items that give some bonuses to Initiative but really...
Going last in initiative is kinda the cost of the build you seem to be going for?
If you have low Dex you're gonna get low initiative there isn't really a whole lot that can be done about that
I would ask why you want to go earlier outside of "killing them sooner"; if its a problem like getting CC'd, might be easier for some defensive buffing like the paladin aura
my urge for incredible amounts of violence mainly
because the of the way Vow of Enmity(?) works rn i just get advantage against everyone for ten turns
i was originally gonna go OB 7/Fiend warlock 5 but vengeance has been so fun i’m just gonna wait and see if i break my oath naturally
Bow of Awareness is pretty good to keep on you
keeping bows for their passives on big melees is a nice trick for the game
i’ll def keep that in mind
So far my oath of ancients warlock mix has been my strongest build
what patron?
I have officially finished all of Act 1 on Honour, whew what a ride so far
Nobody dead yet?
I almost had a tpk in the forge due to some bad shoving rng but a scroll of misty step + invis helped me run away to regroup
Oh my gods. We were sweet talking a cat in order to pet him, only for "Lae'zel disapproves" show up in the corner. Ma'am, you can't even understand what he's saying.
Again! Let me talk to this cat in peace.
not a cat person!
Lae'zel does not appreciate you talking to the cat lmao
Laezel is a cat that doesn't like other cats and when you give any cat but her attention
Astarion approves of complimenting the cat
Astarion a cat person confirmed.
Um actually a cat person is a Tabaxi which is in in baldur's gate 3
Who knows with the size of the game it might be and i've missed them every time
Great Old one patron, it’s great
I did Archfey patron, don't think I used any of the Archfey features, and still had a blast
Okay, actually
I used the uh, what is it
Misty Escape was very good
It did give me a very fun dialogue option in Act 3 though
Bard has the absolute best options
I quite enjoyed the options rogue gave me tbh
Bard might have the best options, but then I have to play a Bard
(I do not like playing Bards. I don't know what I'm supposed to do with them.)
Take 2 levels in Paladin, explode things 😄
I don't really like multiclassing tbh
bard only has the best options if you're the sort of person who enjoys playing bards imo
I like to be a Lore Bard and get access to a lot of funny control spells and being amazing at skill checks; I've also seen Sword Bard be used very well
i do think some of the bard dialogue options are A Bit Too Silly
I think a lot of people look at bard and go "my favourite ergo the best objectively"
Its fun for sure, and the extra short rest fuckin rules
I will say, I've only ever been a Bard at like, level 3
I am bored
I have come up with a solution to my boredom
I am going to play a "fuck everything up" run
Might do Durge, might not
What class should I play
Monk is great fun but I already have two
Sorcerer? Get those metamagic big blasty spells
Alternately go rogue so you can get that sleight of hand expertise on your character in case you're gonna tell astarion to fuck off
Nah Astarion will probably like me for being evil
Monk is...
Very tempting, but I will restrain myself
For now
I might do a storm sorcerer, actually
...
I'm gonna take poison spray!
Also I'm doing a custom difficulty run with some of the settings set to tactitian
Poison Spray is not working out that great.
Poison's in a weird spot in 5e, half of things resist it, cantrip has shoooort range..
Actually I'm not going to play I don't think
I feel like if I play more outside my multiplayer run I'm gonna get burnt out and that's no good for anyone
Wild Magic Sorc is very funny for everything going wrong; I think if its a "kill everyone" run, Rogue Durge is very fun.
damn i just murdered the SHIT out of the goblin camp
i love this game
poison and sentinel glaive paladin at a chokepoint works wonders
We've figured a new, more interesting form of fraud: simply sell a merchant you dislike several high-value items, kill them, and then loot their corpse for your items again.
Also... ||we're fairly certain we've found barrels of firewine with live kobolds in them. We're going to be holding on to them until an opportunity to use them arises.||
They're just chilling in your inventory
Let them out in the middle of a populated area (don't)
Do not throw random pokeballs you find in the camp
I might have thrown a certain flask into a crowded place in act one to not have to deal with the people there
We've assigned Karlach role as pack mule, what with her having the Mighty Cloth. 480 carry capacity is nothing to sneeze at.
BG3 turns me into a menace whenever enough barrels of fun material appear
If I was skilled at modding there would be a crab vendor somewhere with what I need in this game (sells smokepowder and oil barrels).
Behold my greatest spell, infinite explosion
Unironically the ability to place down smokepowder barrels next to HVTs and then set them off later is what got us through the goblin camp.
Strategic management of my barrels is fun but I would like to be worse
The Squad on our way to [End of Act 2 Spoilers] ||Push Ketheric's shit in||
We now have a Skeleton and two Ice Mephits
God
Everyone died
Except for one member. It wasn't even the boss it was from the fucking Runepowder Barrel wiping us all
Lmfao
Rune powder is great nuke
It chunked the [BIG end of Act 2 Spoilers] ||Disciple of Myrkul|| for like, 3/4ths of their health bar, killed everyone in the party except for the druid who was in Owlbear form and me, the monk, killed all of our summons, and threw everyone off the platform
I had like, 6 hit points left after getting hit with a crit Smite so I got killed immediately after though
I think my favorite thing is making the boss of act 2 drop their weapon and they just kind of swing with their fists like a baby
Honestly I'm kinda sad we used it here actually
I'm wishing we saved it for a certain Act 3 Fighter
Oh, important note
Nobody actually died died
They all went down and got thrown off of the platform out of range of the boss
There was an Earth Elemental that surrvived the explosion too
Spoilers regarding Raphael's arc: ||I've been told he sings his own boss fight theme, and that if you cast Silence on him, the lyrics cut out of the song. Can anyone confirm?||
yes
Amazing attention to detail imo
I wonder if I can ||keep him silenced the entire fight||
me and the boys ||blowing up an entire fireworks shop||
||we literally killed everyone and the child just went "the smokepowder smell is good"||
Question, I want to try a close range caster. What’s your favourite build that also suits dark urge ?
Warlock
Interesting
there are gloves you can get that make all spells melee range so you can do funny shenanigans with that
Sorcerer feels Durge-y too, but not super melee friendly
also if can do multiclassing into stuff like Warrior or Paladin for Heavy armor and weapons specialties
i had 1 level of warrior for heavy armor and a great sword for most of the playthrough i am in
Tempest or War Cleric will do excellently as a close-range caster with very little fuss
Cleric Durge also has fun weird lore bits
Bard 1(or3) / Sorc 2+, be a smooth talking breaking and entering monster
Lot of fun Obscurment magic items
welp
seems my party ||completely missed out on the steelwatcher factory||
||it was literally just exploded when we got there for some reason||
i wonder if theres a way to ||mess up the gnome/hostage stuff to that degree to cause that 🤔 like fucking up w/ barcus, pissing off wulbren, not making a deal with gortash, not doing or messing up the submarine stuff? ||
trying to think of all the "triggers"
i do know if you immediately kill|| Gortash, the Foundry blows up on its own||, that may have happened
due to some failsafe stuff cuz he's a fucker
hey, you killed him! thats a w
and its fairly hard to do w/ the watchers still up so good job
(Act 3 spoilers)||vampires in Cazadors dungeons: talk about how Astarion tricked them||
||Me, who murdered Astarion in cold blood immediately in act 1:||
||... well then||
||Cazador died in one turn to our Paladin with all sacrifices still in play, fucking owned||
nope normal run
The party is hunkering down for some well-deserved rest... But who is the crimson-robed figure awaiting in the forest?
Check out our latest collaboration between @twitgera and @mashed! Goes perfect with a w…

Karlash melting through the snow had me laughing
good ol Ghaik head for christmas, works every time
Wow that's so much BG3 packed into a tiny video I love it
So have little game references
Gale telling them not to lick it was a fun reference
Huh wonder what happens if you just hold onto the corpse the entire game
Better yet, enter the boss room, leave and then reanimate him
See if it gets you two
an interesting idea
We forgor to rescue [Act 2 Spoilers] ||Rolan|| :(
Perception check
but the Dark Urge is a ✨BARD✨

Uegh
Playing my evil Durge bitch and I wanna leave Shart in the tube to see what happens,
But I also want the fancy flaming sword cuz that's useful to have
i love the little fucking pogface that Durge makes in the beginning of the vid
i am filled with joy
Not a thought in his head, fantastic
he is so happy
he gets to play the flute for once
I just found out something amazing
So, Cloudkill, my favourite 5th level spell, does shitloads of poison damage just as you enter Act 3, which has a lot of normal humanoid enemies
lots of nice enclosed areas too
Anyways, problem: It's indiscriminate
If the enemies just leave and run up to your frontline, what can you do?
Solution:
Monks get Immunity to Poison damage at level 10
Final Ending (involving Karlach's plot) spoilers:
||Y'all have no idea how feral I'd get for DLC that focuses on us killing Zariel and getting away with it with Karlach alive and able to live in the Material Plane. A power fantasy of killing evil named NPCs in big time settings is a NEED, not a want for me. Bonus points if Mordekainen shows up so i can punch him in the face for his whole "b-but balance is needed in the Blood War! Killing Zariel will give the demons a huge advantage" spiel. He SEEMS like someone who would look at Karlach and go "I'm sorry for the suffering you went through but you fighting for Zariel was a net positive for the multiverse".||
Okay unhinged rant over
I don't think that's impossible, given that the ||devs did have some plans for a Hells/Avernus level at some point in development ||
Or ||redeem zariel as is possible in that one module that features karlach and have zariel fight the demons to maintain balance||
The module that is a prequel to BG3, in a funny twist.
The module has such a different vibe to BG3
It is an entirely different campaign, yeah.
I mean like the city itself and such, Gortash and his army was a surprise
In the book it's very. Bad. In the city, mostly
In like a classical medieval way
Baldur's Gate is a city of corruption, but still a walled in protected city, its got its charms.
Considering act 1 was in the complete wilderness and act 2 was in lands blighted by shar, baldur's gate is a nicer place
if youre not wealthy in Baldur's Gate tho life sucks
There always must be an archduke of Avernus
So even if you take down Zariel you gotta think about who to replace her with
She’s not the first and she won’t be the last
Asmodeus views the leadership of Avernus as extremely replaceable
Monk is absolutely cracked I love it
I'm running around killing like, 2+ people a turn
💪 👊 💪
man i would LOVE if the devs would try to patch some of the optimization bugs and shit, i've been having so many fucking problems with crashing and things not loading even though my pc should be more than capable of dealing with it
Replace her with His Majesty ngl
hear me out
what if we replace her with vampire lord astarion
seal two evils at once
(act 3 spoilers) ||most normal party member||
Seems normal to me yeah
ironically not even close to the most evil inclined person in the party
I remember fondly the day when I walked into the ||newspaper office ||caked in blood to confess my sins
I'm sorry you're having those troubles, Freyja, but if it helps those are a part of pretty much every patch/hotfix they're doing
so they are actively working on it constantly
And the fop didn’t even use any of my most lurid crimes
(act 3 spoilers) ||This is the true face of madness||
||tbf i consider her to be chaotic neutral even if my friends call her chaotic evil||
||she's ruled by her own perception of the world and acts based on a kind of standing system where she is antagonistic to people who she has negative interactions with||
||very much a kind of self based morality||
My durge has been ||chaotic good to friends, chaotic evil to her enemies||
Would that balance out to chaotic neutral
that's basically how my character has been
the reason why my friends ||call her evil is because we've had a lot of interactions she considered to be negative so she's generally been pretty hostile to people||
(act 3 spoilers) ||finally summoned The Boys™️||
So many boys
Act 3 really loves huge fights
And gives you lots of summons for even bigger fights
It's the war of action economy
||THE BOYS DIED INSTANTLY 😭 ||
||one of them got killed and they all suicide bombed the one who did it and killed them instantly||
||THE FUCKING COPS SHOWED UP IN A SHAR CAMP PLACE LMAO||
||we walked into a Shar place and the last of them fucking called the cops on our rogue and they actually arrived||
||she got obliterated||
The ||sharrans|| evade taxes like any other citizen
They totally deserve police protection
Don’t you know ||it’s guilty before proven innocent||
||where is your evidence that you did not cast chain lightning||
Most relatable Warlock post

||Sharrans are rich and bring in that tickle down wealth so they don't need to pay taxes /s||
Blep
Blep
Mlem
Has anyone actually used the storm sorcerer/tempest cleric build
It’s all over YouTube but it seems clunky
Cleric 2/Draconic Sorcerer 10?
It seems fine? Honestly doesn’t have much over just vanilla Tempest Cleric since it misses Chain Lightning.
Yes, it’s fine
It felt too one trick pony for me ultimately, and I got bored.
It is certainly good damage wise.
You can dip wizard for lighting, yeah I really want a close range caster, I’m guessing cleric will be the way to go in the end
Spirit Guardians is a hell of a trick
Cleric has a bunch of spells that love being surrounded by clowns
Destructive Wave is both such a good name and fun spell
Spirit guardians, spiritual weapon, guardian of faith
All the summons
So much passive damagr
I wish I liked guardians but since it doesn’t do damage when you go in and out anymore I feel like there are better spells
Oh i'm guessing they nerfed it to work as intended?
Hey so the mourning frost staff used to apply chilled very easily and now seems to never work
Anyone know what’s going on
Huh, weird. Ill test when im home to see if it works for me
I heard the DC is locked at super low, but it was just one old Reddit post
Most item DCs are class-based (in sometimes weird ways)
fr?
man
it's so fucking weird hearing about all these changes
my friends and i are still playing the same campaign we started literally the day the game launched
so everything has been changing during our first campaign
yeah i imagine coordinating 4 people to play takes time
Did you have a chance to check ?
i will still be at work for another few hours, alas
no problem! i never mind pings
I am now beginning exploration into modding Baldur's Gate 3
nice
Aberrant Mind Evil Durge playthrough let's gooo
It makes me sad you can’t get the best robes for warlock on an evil run
...
There's a mod that adds the Mystic...
Oh my...
I might do that instead...
I am rather fond of the Mystic, even if it is kinda busted...

It’s okay games still great
Do I do Aberrant Mind, or Mystic durge?
Drow Mystic.
So I don't feel like I have to cheese Potent Robe
Hm.
I can't seem to choose the new classes/subclasses I downloaded?
Anybody have experience with downloading class mods?
Alas, I have no experience with it myself; I'm assuming this is using Nexusmods/Vortex stuff?
My usual go-to checklist is to make sure I have all the required pre-req mods, and then make sure each of those was set up in the right order, since that matters
I seem to have gotten it to go from seemingly no mods existing to crashing on startup
Unfortunately, I have no clue how to arrange my load order
Well how many mods do you have
14
If this is your first time, I'd cut that down
Something to try is to start with 1 mod and just add 1 each startup to see what happens
^
And make sure they are all upto to date with the latest version of the game
(Sometimes they will say in the description, otherwise see if it has been updated since the latest game update)
Any that aren't, I'd remove
I did figure out the problem, actually
Yay
BG3 Mod Manager doesn't actually like, apply the mods to the game automatically, it seems?
You need to tell it to add the mods you've put as active
Which means now I'm getting into figuring out why it keeps crashing and not working, but at least this time it's a problem I have experience with
These days a lot of mod managers try to let you swap things in and out
Try installing one at a time
That's usually my strat
Well there's something
progress 💪
I've got it.
Lae'Zel is now a Psionic Warrior!
So like, spoilers for Act 3 but
||Lae'zel has been kidnapped by Orin, and I need to catch up on levels so I want to sidequest a bunch.|| If I take too many long rests/do too much, will she just be dead when I get there?
||If you side with Gortash I think it’s the only way she dies||
||No, there's no time limit unless you find where she is and go after her pre-Gortash kill||
||You can even go into the sewers iirc|| just not to her base
That WAS kind of my plan yeah, because fuck Orin
I figure she's going to be the worst to deal with so get her out of the way first
||Nah she’s a great last one to end. It feels like the conclusion imo||
Also is this chatterteeth guy SUPPOSED to do nothing in the Cazador fight
he cast Eyebite: Sleep and then proceeded to do nothing
wich face should i give to my half elf druid, the punk or the youth pastor
The first is cooler
Punk
my man listen to Infected Mushroom since he join the circle of spore
Punk for sure
If hes concentrating on Eyebite he usually Ray of Frosts
Honestly I might respec off of Mystic into Aberrant Mind Sorc
Mystic's cool and all, but so is reactivity and magic item support
I do wonder how well these mod classes work
Not just mechanically but how well the game can actively support it with the encounters in the game as is
What do you mean?
One thing I've noticed with Mystic, although I haven't made it very far, is that the game seems to be giving me Wizard/Sorcerer dialogue options
Like, for example I think a Artificer class would need more mechanics that the base game doesn't really have
And like, there's not loot to support how they work unless the other classes
etc
Yeah that's kinda my thinking
The game is like, too tightly woven to be able to add stuff like that
I think it'd doable but just needs more time than modders have had
Yeah, sorry
*without significant time and effort
Is all good
I am eager to see how the modding scene develops!
Same
Divinity 2 got some big ones
Not content wise but class overhauls, new classes, gameplay overhauls etc
Although it's class system is very different
Ok time to go beat ||Alfira|| unconcious so I can get that sick Act 2 Robe
Maybe
Unsure if I'll be able to get that if I side with the goblins...
I find it rather amusing how of all the origins, the one that would probably get the most use out of the Potent Robe is the one that is locked out from getting it
Yes, I know Wyll exists, but come on, he's clearly a Bladelock not an Eldritch Blaster
RIP but also fair
Did get the robes from Karlach, though
Okay
Why is my Charisma modifier +3?
Because it's only 17 is why
Why is my Charisma only 17?
Oh right you can't start higher than 17
correct!
Sorry I am... unused to being this low level
I am not sure who you are apologizing to or why, its all good
My own preference is the level 1-10 range so BG3 was nice for me there.
I find below level 5 to be not the best, for me
Also it's more that I've been playing my multiplayer game where we're in Act 3 so I'm used to that
yeah me and my buddies have been in act 3 for months
i've been playing this playthrough since launch
Er, which launch
it'll be wild if you do another run Freyja, stuff has changed
the one when the game fully released
me and my buddies are doing a modded run next
but yeah a lot of shit has changed since we started this run
||hey is it true that if you fight the emperor at the begining of act 3 it's gameover ?||
Spore druid dual wielding staves is funny
||In the fight where he reveals himself as an illithid? Yeah, technically. It doesn't make the Gith hostile, and if you kill them without killing Empy then it puts you in a dialogue where Emperor thanks you for seeing reason, and if you do bring him down to zero, he starts a dialogue where he says again he's the one protecting you, the narrator goes "Yeah he's protecting you" and you can choose to let him back up or kill him, and if you then choose to kill him yeah, it's game over.||
thanks 🙂
Best part is, this is up to date as of, oh, last week? Cause I did it in game then!
Wish there were more magic clubs and more magic staves geared for physical combat, though.
Yeah
got the CLUB OF GAINS early on at least but i agree
I just like beating the shit out of people as the Funny Mushroom Man
Accurate
Me @ the entire duergar clan
My druid's name is cordyceps and he has a zombie buddy
i wanna be friends with cordyceps
Are you a friend of nature
Enemies of nature are enemies of justice, bad and naughty adventurers get the Thagomizers
My favorite pc so far did start as a nature paladin!
They ended up oathbreaking but not due to any nature stuff, so they can still be Pals
You can always pay the tax
Oh, question: Aura of Hate applies to undead and fiend enemies, right? How much of a pain is that in practice?
Oathbreaking is just how you unlock the cool spells
Okay but since I have no plans to go full evil, perhaps I will take a fighter level instead of Paladin 7
Honestly if you have the right gear and builds, undead are so easy
I wouldn’t worry
they are mostly an Act 2 problem
Honestly same
I do not leave that place better than I found it
(except for Thaniel maybe)
Trying out a Wild Magic Barbarian Karlach
Holy shit ||Ansur|| is hard.
Also I made Astarion mad by ||Killing Cazador|| and Orin killed ||Lae'zel||
Though the fight with Orin felt so... it felt really anti-climactic lmao?
I just beat ||ansur and Orin too haha||
I just used ||hold monster on her and blasted her with eldritch blasts||
So much for ||Bhall’s blessings, cousin||
Honestly hold monster and flesh to stone made a lot of climactic boss fights trivial
Gnomes screaming some|| nonsense about creating their greatest war machine ||and me noticing I have 90% chance to hold monster on it
Globe of Invulnerability is pretty busted too
||Ansur|| is dead. Also, I've encountered a bug where my EXP bar appears to be missing.
It just says "EXP to next level: 0" but keeps track of how much I have
but there's no actual bar
Small joke I tried today that I’m pretty sure works: ||if you cast silence of Raphael during his fight, his part in the theme song doesn’t happen anymore!||
I have learned that the reason my bar no longer exists is because 12 is the max level
interedasting
12 being the max level I can understand for balance reasons but it kind of makes the enemies we face seem like wimps a little
Also 7th level seem like a nightmare to implement for only a short part of the game
Baldurs Gate should have to figure out what to do about 'Dream of the Blue Veil' like any other DM
I simply refuse
It should always be, truly a weird inclusion
'The main deal with Spelljammer, yeah we made that some spell you can get'
I have completed my first run.
||I made Karlach the Mind Flayer because it would stop her from exploding. I refused to let Gale detonate the orb, and I managed to save Shadowheart's Divine Intervention for when we were IN the Netherbrain's mind. ||
Easy, ban the spell
absolutely worth it though
the reward is ||balduran's giantslayer, what i used on my barbarian, made the final boss on normal a cakewalk||
||Ansur was very funny in my playthrough cause me and my buddies fought him once to get an idea of what his fight was about and lost, then we reloaded and our paladin dropped like 400 damage on him in a single turn and he died like, the turn after that or something like that||
Me and the boys are gonna fuck you up
the lads have hella dps
If you want to see more of my tav I'll probably post more on twitter and tiktok so follow me there
Bard Tav is named Sophie she doesn't actually play the flute but continuity can suck my-
The babysitter/ wild magic sorcerer tav is named lori she's played by my friend Poi Boi : https://linktr.ee/poiboipng
check out my art and vgen commissions...
What’s a Good sorc armour for an urge run?
Does the one from bard lady work for sorcerer
Of course you gotta do things differently to get it with durge
Yeah that’s my issue
You can still get it
||knock her out before you go to camp and trigger the cut scene||
||She’s dead Jim||
Ah you've already done it
Good to know though
What's your thoughts on Karlash?
Cos ||you get robes for killer her for Mizora|| i think
And I think she's leaving you anyway
I like the early game resistance robes
Oh, I did not know that
I've been told you need Wyll with you
Then kill, and get robes
+1 ac and fire resistance
That’s solid
Not sure about end game but I can always equip the helldusk
Thanks a bunch
I love the little oomfies in the temple of bhall
Crowding around displayed corpses and discussing finer points of murder methods as if Bhall cares
Bhall doesn’t give a shit if a kill is beautiful or not
Only its quantity
I like playing halflings, and I made one. So far the characters in my party aren't a big fan of me, but the only two who do like me are the old ladies in the tiefling area. I've also noticed that Aunty's race is "fae"
She LOVES me
there's a special halfling interaction with her where she gives you extra of whatever that drink she gives you is
I have found ||speak with dead amulet, I have speak with animals, and just learned detect thoughts. I'm a social machine.||
Auntie Ethel is lovely
the companions warm up to you as you go through act 1; its hard to trust anyone at that stage
Yeah they get arcs
Hmm
In the hands of a halfling
Does everyone count as a large target for ||Balduran’s|| greatsword?
it needs to be a Large creature, not larger, sadly
Random cool thingy, if you flurry of blows topple you will trigger sneak attack
Like as part of the attack
So here's a thing right.
I've just about met Wyll, and because of doing a thing off to the side I've just about hit level 3, so I've picked a bunch of cool stuff. I picked for Wyll to get that warlock ability of mage armour that they can just have, cause I'm going to have them as a semi-front liner, playing around behind Laez'el. Well in order to have mage armour working you need no armour worn. but taking off Wyll's armour now has him running around in his underpants...
That will happen
I'm not sure how to make him un-running around in his underpants
Change his underwear to someone’s who’s less silly ?
There's outfits that don't count as 'armor', yeah
Gale kind of had a homeless cowboy aesthetic for a while for this reason
you can also switch him to his non-combat clothes for the meanwhile?
if PC's can wear camp clothes in and out of combat i would imagine NPC's can too?
I'm gonna need like an extra paragraph just describing what she's wearing
Then it'll be My Immortal
theres outfit toggles on the inventory screens
Ok
Yas
it's a true my immortal fic
so it's shadowheart x astarion but astarion is dating super cool student the dark urge and also everything else you could imagine in my immortal
Huh, fairs
Not my fic
Laezel is JROTC kid who takes it too seriously
True so she’s an uptight transfer student
Laezel is canonically likely to be the class clown
She is self proclaimed considered extremely humourous among the gith
In gith school at least

Jaheria, prep?
Jaheria is famous already so definitely prep even if not by choice
Even the professors are preps or goths thou
prep?
duke ravengard is the headmaster
He's prep
Prep as in preppy
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preppy#:~:text=Preppy (also%20spelled%20as%20preppie,or%20alumnus%20of%20these%20schools.
Preppy (also spelled as preppie or prep) is an American subculture associated with the alumni of college-preparatory schools in the Northeastern United States. The term, which is an abbreviation of "preparatory", is used to denote a person seen as characteristic of a student or alumnus of these schools. Characteristics of preppy individuals incl...
It's one of the very over used terms in My Immortal
Well in my immortal, a goth
Vampyre
Astarion and Shadowheart
i see i see
Astarian
Although shadowheart can become preppy goth if you romance her
not sure if she's goth but she's definitely not prep
Yeah she goth
And then there's gale
Gale's like 'Prep that dropped out of the college he bragged about, not sure what to do with himself now'
post-prep depressions
No he's still prep
gods i love how gaudy her wizard outfit looks
You can't become a goth or prep
It's an immutable essence of you
You can only become a vampyre
Which is the super coolest thing ever
Maybe you can't begins to study and get good grades furiously
Prep with a patina, then
This is my immortal
Oh! Another interesting halfling thing: laez'el insulted my nose.
All logic should be left at the door
not sure if she does that to everyone but we were talking about races and not knowing each other's much and she was like "your nose is weird"
She does have usual nose commentary but I am pretty sure shortfolk have some extra dialogue from her
You should see what she says about dragonborn
Doesn’t she like lust openly about them?
Especially red dragonborn
Fitting
||I guess she doesn't want to be a Kith'rath dragon rider for no reason||
I love that there's halfling dialogue options that seem designed to piss her off
"we'll make no friends doing that" and she practically backflips into orbit
There’s extra epilogue for Lazhel ascension ritual now
It goes about as well as expected
damn it's REAL easy to break paladin oaths
We have two Drow in my multiplayer game
One is a barely-contained mass murderer urging the others to kill everyone,
And the other is a Dark Urge

How evil can you truly be in Baldur’s Gate 3? This is something I wanted to see for myself so in my last playthrough I decided to m...
Big Dan's videos tend to be pretty good
This is the only one I've seen so far
They do a lot of similar stuff
Did a fair amount for mass effect back in the day
Like it's a lot of Top 10 X content things but they do their research and give opinions on why
So I just finished my first play through and
||I found the Emperor's face-heel turn to joining the Elder Brain to be rather undeveloped. Though it was pretty funny when he taunted us about knowing all our thoughts and plans, and then we blew him up with a ton of explosives||
Yeah that bit is a bit sudden
||Like, I get him turning against you||
||But I assumed he'd have another back up plan to be against you AND the brain||
||Like the classic, he shows up at the last second and tries to take the artefact from you, but then you'd need to explain how he's still benefitting from it's protection etc||
Had fun thou?
Yeah, game is good
I haven't done the epilogue yet, admittedly
|| Were you on good terms with Emp? I find that being on bad terms with him has it make more sense cuz you learn more about his atrocities and how far he'll go for his goals even by spiting himself ||
Oh yeah to be clear ||he's 100% a dick whose using you and only looking out for themselves||
But that doesn't make the ||turn to joining the brain super sensical||
||we were on good terms||
Did you find ||Ansur?||
||there needed to be an explanation for how freeing Orpheus interferes with his plans... at all||
Yeah
That wasn't super well established I feel
||I dunno, he is a mind flayer, Orpehus won't work with one without killing them, even if it's you or himself||
||he seemed perfectly ok with letting someone turn into a mind flayer and didn't try to kill them, at least pre-epilogue||
||Huh, maybe I'm misremembering. But at least if he becomes one he ends his own life, I feel he wouldn't be okay with the person whose kept him imprisoned for ages||
||But fair that it could be clearer||
I can see paths to it making sense, but it needed to be developed a bit more
||Like, the way I see it, The Emperor, if you're on good terms, thinks they can control you. They can't control Opheus if they are freed cos he knows all the Emperors talk is BS||
||you get the choice to kill yourself if you become one instead||
||I think if it was like free Orpheus -> he refuses to work with the Emperor -> he then gets netherbrained if you choose Orpheus, would have made things reasonably understandable||
Yeah that'd make sense
And maybe ||you fight him then and there before he gets turned||
Or something
||Like he'd rather die trying to stop you than get brain controlled again||
But maybe he thought he could ||keep his independence somehow, he did once before||
||that would make sense, or Orpheus revokes his protection and then he makes his mistake while mind controlled||
||though that's heavily implied to be him being outwitted by the brain||
i think something else relevant is that ||Emp is conflating Opheus/gith hatred of all mindflayers with hatred towards Emp specifically for keeping the shackles on, from my read on doing the ending a few times now||
||theres also a book right before your big netherbrain meeting that hints that everything Emp has done, even keeping you free, has been a calculated part of the Netherbrain's plan anyways, which i find interesting||
I have found stuff that indicates ||Emperor was working for the Brain the whole time, it was the Brain's plan to get a bunch of adventurers to steal the nether stones from the Chosen so that Brain can be freed. Emperor, and by extension You, are just pawns in that plan. Emp is just pretending to be free/on your side||
If he had good intentions he would probably have a somewhat less imperialistic name
||the Emperor was definitely part of the Netherbrain's plans, but the Emperor isn't pretending as he will help you kill it if you don't free orpheus||
||Will the Emperor destroy the Netherbrain if you ask him to? I can't find any videos of it lol||
||Yeah||
||Emperor is entirely okay with killing the netherbrain. What he wants is to be the king of his own faction of free mindflayers||
||He can't do that if he's under constant threat of being mind controlled by the netherbrain||
||Without the netherbrain he can start building his own empire of mindflayers||
Yeah, thats a few of my endings; ||he doesnt even seem to really care about making his own Empire, just being able to do his own shit being in charge of his crime operations or w/e. ||
||he seems to actually miss the good thing he had going pre-Gortash||
I think he only mentions creating ||a new illithid empire if you are also an illithid||
||so honestly I think him saying “I’m content with just being a crime lord” is a cover story||
Considering he also|| lied about not dominating the people he worked with in previous crime lord life||
||That's a fair reading! I see that one as opportunist, in the sense that 1 mindflayer is a crime lord, 2 mindflayers is the beginning of an empire, sort of thing||
im fascinated by him, he's a fun character
Yeah
He’s a pathological liar which makes getting a good read on him basically impossible
||Its interesting to compare him in his multiple facets; how he presents himself, how he tries to win you over / others over, what he might have been like while he was mortal and not a mindflayer and how much of that man still exists/lives on, etc||
these are all ending / act 3 spoilers, for folks seeing the spoiler tags, fwiw
||imo he's super power hungry and very pro illithid. He just wants to be on top||
||you can push him far enough to say, do what I say or I'll kill you||
||and ansur shows the whole story||
||the biggest tell was when he was flirting hard with you, and the second you turn him down he acts like he was never flirting and the thought would never cross his mind. He is obviously just trying to use you, you are just a means to an end||
He only flirts with you if your relationship is bad
Also just like ||Stelmane in general||
||Its pretty easy to miss that stuff if you get along with him, which I love||
Honestly too real for manipulative people irl
||he acts like he has your best interests at heart, but only when what you're doing benefits him||
Is there a way to set the Githyanki dude free without ||ending the game||
From the ||Astral Prism||?
Yee
Dope
Question about doing an urge playthrough, ||since you can easily recruit Minthra now (semi easy) would you suggest not destroying the grove or it’s worth it for the alternative route?||
How bad do you want to be?
For me it also depends on if youre romancing Minthara or not.
||The thing is, if you knock her out with non lethal she will appear at moonrise ||
I know, but you miss a big romance flag for her
You miss out on more content by ||destroying the grove because several folks will leave you and the guys who die can't give you quests / items later||
But you get the extra content in return of ||that scene||
This is my second run so I’ve already done the original stuff, but I do know you miss a lot of important gear
Like, a lot
Unless you're on like tactics or honor mode I wouldn't worry about gear tbh
Aren’t there some build defining things you miss out on ?
Like yeah you miss out on good gear but the games still gonna be doable, it's not that hard
||that scene is so long it lasts like 3 times as long as other Romance options||
You don't need meta builds on normal or easy mode imo
I like durge destroy grove for like faster playthroughs
The quests given by the Grove npcs dont have too much variation besides they live or die
So once you've seen it you've pretty much seen it
Okay so for a quicker second run maybe I’ll go full evil
And you still get xp for doing evil so you won't be under leveled
I think the big Durge question for rp choices is "am i trying to be redeemed"
Yea durge is basically 2 playthrough of resist or give in
Both are rewarding
Evil is especially rewarding in game mechanically
Resist gets a lot of good scenes thou I mean
Sounds good, thanks a bunch
Like Resist isn't just Durge without the Durge
What builds get overpowered early nowadays
Tavern Brawler
didn't it get nerfed, or is that only in Honor mode?
Only in Honour Mode
alas, i am intending to play honour mode
Was the doubled strength mod nerfed in honour mode? I don’t see anything about that
There is this undocumented change for it in patch 5
Tavern Brawler no longer creates a separate damage instance on throws.
Honor mode is pretty rough
Im crawling through act 2 slowly
I did half-orc rogue/bard to stay alive forever
I use rough here for "really fun but oh my god every encounter is terrifying"
Lore Bard is cracked
Being able to retroactively modify enemy saves is not default 5e and it is so powerful
I have also been enjoying being able to just go "sure yes I can do these things" and slapping my hands against anything I come across.
Hitting level 3 and suddenly going from a +0 to a +4 in medicine because I decided to pick up prof and expertise in it at the same time is a hilarious boost.
I think I also saved someone's ass by uh...
||I found a bugbear assassin sneaking up on a tiefling lady and I panicked and ran just into iniative range. They then rolled dead on what they needed for a hit on the tiefling, and while I wasn't in line of sight properly yet since I'm a halfling, I yelled a swear word over the cliff edge and the bugbear missed||
Nice!
What Bard mode did you go for Murdoc?
Lore, for the skills, spells, and better use of my bardic insp dice
Heck yeah
oh yeah
i need to decide on a build for my next paythrough
Is this your first playthrough?
The halvesies
For me yes
Do you know how the reaction system in the game works?
Cos you may want to tweak it as a lore bard
I've just about gotten to the part with the ||Owlbear||
And I do not think I do no
You can sorta toggle if the reactions are automatic or you choose
i think the idea i had was to do multiclass wild magic sorc and wild magic barbarian
Choose makes things a bit slower but gives you a tactical edge
As a lore bard you'll be using that one reaction they get all the time
Where do I make that change?
thought i might try Divination Wizard and Lore Bard for the "i control the dice" build
It's somewhere in the bottom right of the screen
Baldur's Gate 3 Guide to Reactions & UI - Must Know Tips For All Players
In this Baldur's Gate 3 Guide, We're going to talk about the UI of the game and not only but how to set up your skill bar and how to set up reactions properly. A lot of people probably trial and error at this point, their way through the game and they know a little bit abou...
Halfling Diviniation wizard and lore bard is incredibly control the dice
Thank you Rance ❤️
halfling rerolls nat 1s
not me dropping in with both Portent and Cutting words
i'm going to be playing with mods for second playthrough so we will see what race i end up picking
Wizard+Bard is rough stats wise so good luck, grab those stat items
yeah
not going to be superb but i think it could be very funny
thinking maybe a 3 bard 9 wizard split
Honestly if someone wants to go a full "I know everything" skill character a gith bard might be an idea. Since Gith can learn all skill of a certain stat, and Lore Bards get so many in general. So you can have your skills focused entirely on charisma, dex, or wisdom, and use your gith powers for intelligence.
Thats why im a rogue-bard
coild maybe go for a 6 bard 6 wizard split
Ahhh yes
I have all the good skills
though idk if that would work
Thief rogue?
cause you get extra portents as a divination wizard at lvl 6
Wizard 2 Bard 10 is my vote
probably a solid idea
Can you Barbarian Druid and just turn into a very angry bear?
Just take support spells that dont use intelligence
conceptually enjoy multiclassing but it gets kinda difficult to balance it so you don't hamper either class
I did thief rogue 3 for my xbow swords bard and enjoyed all the proficiencies
and so you become strong enough by endgame
i mean my current character is technically a multiclass for all that singular sorc level matters
Love me some proficiencies
Dips are easy, bigger multiclassing is rough and usually bad
i had a level of fighter for most of the game to get armor and weapon proficiencies
What race was your thief rogue Sevens?
Gith
VERY skilled them, with their ability
Gith is so silly
Yes it was primary bard so she was the face
Dual xbows with sharpshooter is bonkers considering the ranged flourish and bonus action attacks with extra attack
Basically eldritch blast machine gun except you're a full caster and more damage
i might do human fighter for the meme
Battlemaster disarm is ridiculously strong
It is
the trailer is from elder scrolls online
im 100% gonna get copyrighted
me when i play Human fighter
Half my honor mode strat has been Big Disarm
Wish they made champion fighter stronger
Champion fighter is pretty much the simplest of simples
and it's like... alright?
But they kept it a little too close to book
It's a little better than 5e since jump is good but not that good since there's a ton of movement items
My vote in EA was to give it better shove/jumps and such but alas
I turned my Lae'zel Battle Master but she's more of a commander/tank type, at least how I'm building
Meanwhile Tavern Brawler
I haven't seen Tavern Brawler in action but I should check it out honestly
Its extremely good for either throwing build or unarmed
Its goofy silly
I wasn't sure to make a talky character or a brick for my first character
I pretty much decided to go talky so I could see (and stream) as much different stuff as possible
Battlemaster was already the best Fighter archetype and they made it even better
Kinda nuts
Same with open hand monk
kinda want to just get like, max amounts of attacks per turn
I always like to encourage folks to do at least one Paladin run, i think they get very fun options and a chance to meet the coolest npc ever
become multiattack sword gremlin
my friends challenged me to play as a good alignment character also
since they don't think i can
so i might go with that
the gods most unhinged blorbo is what i've been playing
Ms. Kharalathri "i eat brains" Khemmeri
Be a paladin without breaking your oath at least once challenge (impossible)
our Paladin has only broken his oath like once just to check if it would actually happen
Does it warn you that doing the action will break your oath?
No
You'll know if you broke it thou
his oath is still unbroken since we reloaded
It's a whole thing
so he has yet to break his oath canonically in our playthrough
A really cool thing
it is cool from what i know
How reasonable/obvious are the things that count as breaking oaths
I've added him to my home games
It's pretty reasonable
You get your oath tenants so dont break em
yeah
An interesting thing I've found playing as a halfling, sometimes there are small crevices that appear to only be available to me. The entire party splits if I use the small holes and I wind up wiggling into places.
It leans a little on the lawful good stereotypes even when I was playing ancients
it tells you "this is the list of rules you follow" and then if you break the rules you, you know, break the oath
I've done a reist durge run and have not yet broken it
Works for druid transformations into small things to
You can also shrink people with spells!
And gaseous form
everyone in our party has the shapeshifting hat so we just used that to get into tight spaces
I just love that it's like "ah yes shapeshifting and shrinking and druid transformations" and my true power is being a short arse
Ah yes the faceripper
It's called natural talent
True Strength: 3ft Tall
Oh, I know there are tenants. I just don't generally have high trust in game devs to be reasonable able it lol
Larian can't get over the face ripper
i do love the face ripper
Fane my beloved
Larian did a good job with them imo
I always grab his painting in the game to keep
our Paladin cosplayed as a githyanki for a while to get the racial bonuses for his ||legendary astral sword||
What is a face ripper
It rips faces
I didn't play divinity2
(I do not know)
it does yeah
It's the shapeshiftinf mask that lets you change race temporarily
You don't get benefits I believe but the dialogue options only
Oathbroken Paladins still have a bunch of power right? It's more a shift in abilities than a loss right?
you use it to rip peoples faces off and make a mask of shapeshifting
Divinity Original Sin 2 Wiki has all information on weapons, armor, quests, skills, abilities, maps, crafting, guides and walkthroughs.
Yea the mask of shapeshifting in divinity is made with faces ripped off from a face ripper
Ooo
and yeah the actual item in BG3 is the Mask of the Shapeshifter
Neat
That's the form you're taking is of dead people's faces who got ripped off
Disguise self effects give you the racial dialogue options, usually gives you access to race restricted item buffs and lets you do funny things because people won't know who you are
Excellent for crimes or speaking to dead people you murdered
yeah shapeshifting is really good
Speak with Dead is awesome
my party got way more use out of speak with animals
I wish I could change my race in the mirror cause I was making a gith warlock and saw for some reason it showed medium armor proficiency even after switching to Tiefling in character creation and I make her a Tiefling believing warlock gave medium admoru
mostly cause we just didn't use speak with dead much lol
I wish I could cast speak with dead and speak with animals to talk to the dead fish all over the docks
Talk to the pigs head in yohr camp supplies before you eat it
The game throws so much Speak w/ Dead at you its nice
I have speak with animals, the amulet for speak with dead, and detect thoughts on my bard. I have so many words.
And speak with animals too
Speak with animals is a must cause of Strange Ox is a bro
He's ride or die if you talk to him correctly
The strange ox pretty much is refusing to talk to me now I think I spoke wrong to him
Us 🤝Ox
unfortunately for the game my character is a lunatic
I tried to intimidate them and I'm guessing that's wrong
i have no need to speak to the dead
Strange ox did not communicate his situation well to me ||those image flashes did not give the impression he intended them to||
i am the one MAKING the dead
i don't need to speak with them cause i already know what they are about
I did get Us, and I didn't maim them
I love if the corpse refuses to speak to you vcause you killed them you can shape change to talk to them
yeah lmao
Oh hello I am stranger who wants to speak to you my good corpse not at all affiliated with your murderer
Us is good summon
And fun little guy
Oh did you in act 2 ||free him from the cage||
It happens, and I asked
Your actions has consequences (good one this time)
I don't mind little things as long as it's not like "oh yeah this giant thing in the plot that happens".
I hope youre having a good time
But yeah, I'm still in Act 1
What'd you roll as a character
Halfling Lore Bard
Lore bard my third favorite beloved spellcaster behind fiend warlock and storm sorcerer
I recently met two cultists and convinced them that I was indeed a chosen one or whatever, then took them to the ownbear cave and surprisingly didn't get them killed while we took down the owlbear
I then just told them to wander around a bit
Wow surprisingly usually if you choose the wrong dialogue they'll be hostile and like all but one of their dialogue will cause them to be hostile
Local Halfling Hero
Really? Maybe it's because I chose performance and everything but they really trusted me super hard.
I led them to fight the owlbear and we came out on top.
Also bard dialogue options are fun
Being nice always pays off as long as youre not named Wyll
It's hilarious when you get combo ones like bard/persuasion and halfling/bard
Basically the game going "you fucked up little gremlin, you get to say the special thing"
And that usually pisses off Lae'zel really really hard
specially if you're a halfling
Laezel just doesn't appreciate your helpful time-wasting shes a grad student on the move
"Oh we won't be making many friends if you keep acting like that" shot her into the stratosphere and her eyes did not stop rolling.
And she called my nose blobby and weird
Oh I know, I'm actually attempting to aim for her liking me eventually but it's also really fun to piss her off
The funniest laezel fact i learned was that she was the class clown of her creche
Considering so far all I've heard about form other Gith is them gutting people on sight
How I see her is basically, Lae'zel is female Saltzpyre
"wow this person is terrible" says us, an outsider who has never experienced how bad the rest of their lot can be
Oh you will eventually experience other gith
I'm looking forward to it. In the same way someone who's slammed their hand in a car door looks forward to their blackened nail falling out so the pain stops.
She gave us a chance after we helped her which is more merciful than most gith who'd just tryt to kill us afterwards
She's basically the funny nice girl of the gith
yeah female saltzpyre
which says a lot about me that my first instinct is "i'm going to date that" and "I'm going to piss them off so much"
That's the right approach for everyone but karlach and wyll basically
Astarion, gale, shadowheart, and laezel all need a reality check
yeah I noticed Wyll is just way too straightforward a nice guy
Hes a plain hero character but later on his quest and the circumstances surrounding him is very interesting
yeah
He is also walking around my game in his underwear
He also I believe had a huge rework just before launch
i respect you Mr Original Oathbreaker
