#Baldur's Gate 3

"why you lookin in my travel chest"
"they were on sale"
My friend has voice claimed Ralph Ineson for Aznakh and I've not stopped hearing it since
Me, the huge half orc murderhobo, is also the Nice One in the party.
i decided to do my character without consideration for morality so for her it's not about good or bad but interesting and boring
Meanwhile the cute little tiefling fighter is a student of higher commerce and extortion
and helping people and being morally steadfast is usually boring
so she goes around doing stupid shit and being a psycho
my tav was both a very gentle soul who tried to do what was best for people but also was a thief with like
an insatiable need for more busted character powers power
my Tav is the kind you want to be friendly with
because if she has positive interaction with you, she won't ever try to hurt you
"yes we should be nice to everyone but also i want that free 60ft flight speed"
so long as you have some kind of positive interaction you are immediately on the VIP list as far as she is considered
the downside being that negative interactions generally lead to murder attempts
my character, Kharalathri
Aw hell yeah
Oh those screenshots don't include it but Aznakh is hag-eyed
neat
I love the glow on your eye
Kharalathri is hag-eyed, and a necromancer, and has had some fun with tadpoles
my tav, looking like freyja and i had similar design sensibilities for rather disparate characters lol
Az ate the funny tadpole so Mal couldn't use it
He also teleports around and summons black holes now so his fate is probably sealed
sounds like it
Kharalathri won't
as much as she dislikes thinking about consequences, there is a method to her madness
Aznakh is used to people looking at him and going "oh no, a horrible bloodthirsty monster" so why not go all the way
My character is:
I want to be a good guy
I want to use the cool Illithid powers
I cannot guarantee that I will ever play this game to completion again
that third point is so real
Enter my cute little Tiefling Warlock who believes that power is not inherently good or evil, but what it is used for determines that
Besides, imagine an eight foot tall squid man with a greatsword who appears from stealth by immediately entering a rage, but also saved the local village because it was the right thing to do
That's fuggin cool right there
Squidbarian
Kalamarauder
Some other pun
mind slayer
Ayyyy
killithid
AYYYYY
I wish the necklace that lets me cast black tentacles was a ring so I could keep my speak with dead amulet also
Easy just read the book
You think I can read
Yes
My friend every time a character flirts with her in bg3
I say this to be funny but she has legit come to the conclusion she is neither straight nor monogamous over the course of us playing together
Hm
I am about to fight ||Sarevok|| in Act 3
I have a feeling this is going to end poorly...
I was scared when he was ||level 16 but it wasn't as scary as I thought||
See, the real big problem I have is
I didn't rest before the fight
There is, however, one thing that if it works is going to be so funny
I have two scrolls of Hold Person, Hex, and the ability to throw 6 Eldritch Blasts in a single turn
Also, I've got a single Portent left and that's an 11
If I've done this right, he has no legendary resistances left...
love when the game randomly doesn't fucking work
try to run game
doesn't even start
turn off steam
game starts
well it started, doesn't seem to want to load though
I was having some problems this morning, maybe due to the hotfix?
and it still will not launch through steam and i can't do multiplayer without steam
might be
how did you fix it?
It did not work
I didn’t. I didn’t play this morning >_>
ok so the game WILL launch without steam
but that doesn't help
ok stupid bullshit bypassed
i just closed steam, opened the game and used Direct Connection
forgor that ||my blood is explosive||
fighting ||Ethe|| in act 3 and i am comically weak against ||her, she has magic resist and i have disadvantage on all my attacks. As a warlock this is a bad situation||
God that's such a silly ability
I love it
||Ethel is fucking dead, owned||
if i ever die in the middle of a group of enemies my allies will be able to do something really funny
Oh boy
I'm level 11 entering the (Act 3 spoilers) ||Raphael|| fight
Time to kick some Infernal ass
S'got some pretty nice music
Shame it goes away as soon as you leave the room
Orin: Slain

||Halsin died while I was clearing the goblins for the refugees in the druid grove, and his corpse has been in my camp since. Any ideas on how to get rid of it?||
||it's making my camp a bit smelly||
Have you tried bringing him back?
Withers won't let me revive him, and revivify scrolls didn't work
can't even use Speak With Dead
Weird
You can throw it in a box
I'm not strong enough to pick it up :(
Entering Baldur's Gate with your smelly-ass box
"What's in the box sir?"
"Druid corpse?"
"Carry on"
Can anyone else pick it up?
You can control them in camp
Can also get a very strong hireling
I'm playing a barb. Halsin is just a fat fuck
For my next character, should I be a Duegar or one of the other dwarves?
duergar seems fun. Lots of conversation hooks, a tie to the mindflayers, and fun abilities
Duergar abilities are really good, iirc
Hm
I seem to have set myself up for a bit of a challenge
If I long rest again, a prisoner I am trying to save will be executed
Oh well
Time to be a big damn hero
Again
I made a mistake!!
I forgor to cast my spells after long resting but before starting a tough fight
In other news: Cloudkill is... aw man
When Cloudkill works it fuckin works
It's great, I love it
Whoooo level 12!!
Yeee
Hm
Get those max level spells
Would it be worth taking War Caster on my Warlock just for the advantage on Conc save?
Oh, I got 6th level spells like, a level ago
Its not a bad choice
The only Concentration spells I use on her are Hex and Hunger of Hadar
Really the only other option I feel would be taking Tough
I'm already at 20 CHA
Resilient is good for int/wisdom proficiency for the endgame bit if you have an odd stat
And, to be honest, I barely get attacked on this character
Wait
That's...
I may have found something silly
So, there's a hat that gives you a +1 to Charisma somewhere in Act 3, yeah?
And it's not capped at 20?
Because
It seems that the Actor feat gives a +1 to Charisma
And my character sheet is telling me it'll put me up to 21
I'm gonna go see if I can find that hat actually first
Eh, it looks like it actually gives +2, and I didn't take the Hag's deal, so
War Caster or Tough
Oh
It looks like I might have accidentally permanently locked myself out of the hat that increases Charisma?
That's...
Not very nice...
Oh, no, nevermind
I found it!
I have a feeling this is not going to end well, but also I really want to see what happens, and it might end up not terrible
It has the potential to be good, even
Y'know
I just realised
I probably could be doing non-lethal attacks as I storm the prison...
Eh, whatever
Fuck the Flaming Fist
I did
A thing
That I thought was "haha clever" but actually it broke the AI in such a way that it takes like, a full minute for every character to decide "I am going to Dash and then stand still and pass my turn"
But like, they are coming down the stairs one at a time...
yeeeeah mess up the fist they suck
ACAB
I've seen like, at least 3 discrete instances of fists shaking down and threatening random people on the street
Time to kill a Hag
||again||
ive thought about just stealing Ethel to make her a campaign antagonist, shes got the style for it
AGAB
Guards
Ah
Sometimes you just wanna pack your shit and go to Neverwinter instead tbh
Not me seeing ||all the portals and not being able to go through them||
Mood
Neverwinter and Icewind Dale are my famorite places in Faerun I am a simple man
The Gods seeing you eyeing those portals and making sure you don't try to do a runner
I hear Neverwinter has a great Night-life
Alright, I think I have completed everything in Act 1
I am more than halfway to level 8
I cannot find anything else to do
Scream
So I guess it's time for Act 2
The Underdark is pain
haven't done the pass yet
Ah I meant for gkatheller
Minor act 3 spoilers ||I clearly didn't talk to Naber enough last time||
Didn't realise he'd do... all of them
Yeah, I've reached Act 2 before (got most of the way through it), this was just a much more comprehensive playthrough. I think last time I got to level 6.
I restarted to install a few mods
Oh god turning down Wyll's attempts at flirtation is uh
I feel like I have comitted a crime
Take me away coppers
Got any good ones you'd be willing to share?
Ugh, I should probably kill the big bad vampire, but also I don't really feel like it and like, Astarion isn't really part of my party comp...
Eh, I can swap out Karlach and take him, why not
I'm making a hard save though cause I think something very horribly bad might happen if I long rest...
it can be a pretty tough fight!
if you have anyone who can make some daylight or bring some summons... that helps
i don't think me and my friends are going to be fighting any vampires
Is Sunbeam daylight?
Astarion is dead in our playthrough and we have told any other vampires we met to fuck off
Here's what I'm using:

Adds visual notifications to tell the player when they should long rest due to camp night events and dialogues waiting to play out.
You can now date any number of companions (in any order too!) without getting dumped.
Don't you love it when you take your specialist at a skill to do a check, and you roll, and you fail, and so you use inspiration, and you fail 4 more times?
How so?
Or do you mean they have their own launcher
the event notif mod is very good
I might mod my evil run
it literally refuses to run the launcher
if i click start on steam it says it starts the game then does nothing
You could try doing a reinstall
Can you try running it as admin from the executable?
I think you may also be able to skip the launcher by using options and adding “—skip-launcher”
Verify files?
act 3 spoilers ||me and the boys entering the bank and starting to steal things not a minute into being inside the bank||
||if they didn't want their shit stolen they shouldn't have put it in a boring crate instead of an interesting safe||
Huh...
So, I started a fight in the Vampire's house,
And the door closed...
And all of my party is on one side, and all the enemies are on the other, and the door can't be opened
And, I can't end the combat, but I can't kill them either, because there's an unpassable wall blocking them
Did I softlock myself?
Maybe flee combat?
Or reload earlier save
The one inside the room won't be able to flee but once they die your party will all be in camp
I reloaded an earlier save
I can't flee combat inside this area, and there was nobody inside the room period
Lmaoooo
kisses and crimes update
You can't stop my spree, Larian
Gale just wants to make sure you know he vapes
He managed to pass the concentration check though

Ooohhhh this fight looks like it is not going to be easy...
Doesn't help my bloody inspect function broke :\
one of my friends ran into that in our last multiplayer session. I think she said restarting the game fixed it?
Y'know that fight wasn't so bad actually
Lmao I had a party member get downed before I even reached them
Oops...
I forgot to take my gear off of Astarion and give it to Karlach...
Also I'm having a very funny and very endgame Act 3 spoilery experience
So, I ||freed Orpheus, became a mindflayer and took him with me||, and he keeps missing like, every single attack he makes
This fight is both like, really cool, and also oh my god I hate it
There's like, thirty enemies
that last 1-2 hour combat is huge
Having friends helped a lot
Friends as in like, other players, or friends as in the ingame allies you can call in
Oh yeah, they definitely help
(Even if the Harpers that were supposed to give me ranged backup got stunlocked and killed without doing a thing lol)
It is kinda weird how Act 2 places so much emphasis on the shadow curse, and then gives you the means to circumvent it almost immediately if you ||free the pixie||
The people I summoned to be meat shields were actually very helpful outside of being meatshields
Oh great
I am very upset now.
One of my party members was downed, so I threw a healing potion at them to try to heal them
It killed them.
I tried to use a Revifiy scroll, and I have no fucking clue if it's actually able to be used in combat or not because they seem so buggy and they just never actually work it seems
Okay nevermind I finally figured out how they actually work
This fight is even more annoying wow
Ah yes killing or missing with a thrown healing potion
It took a while for me to get it right
Had no idea you could kill with a healing potion
Yea it deals default throwing damage if you hit directly on the character
So if you're like at 4 HP there's a chance to kill
Yea the hitbox is wonky, I've accident hit my character even though it looked like it shouldn't
It's all about being just close enough to have the hit target circle show up and back up a little until it's gone
lmfao
One of the final cutscenes. I'm saying goodbye. The camera cuts to me. My head is dancing around like a gmod ragdoll
Oh hey, neat
Nice
Welcome to the cool kids club 💪💪💪
The Big Punch
Strength Monk is extremely rad
But I think I'm gonna take a break for now
I have Karlach kitted as one, which on the one hand makes her racial spells basically useless, but on the other hand it doesn't matter because she's Captain Freakin' America
Ginormous AC, routinely has a 95% chance to hit without advantage, pretty decent saves, more attacks per round than anyone in the party dealing enormous damage
Basically killed Grym on her own
And that's at 7th level
Plus the Monstrosity-hunting crossbow's advantage against Monstrosities applies to your melee attacks as well, so she's carrying that in her ranged slot
How'd you get good AC with them?
Aaaaaah I want to start again
Fuck it I'll make the character
Start Fighter 1, take the Defense fighting style, wear heavy armor and a shield
Then take Monk to 8
Open Hand
Ah, Multiclassing shenanigans
Tavern Brawler at Monk 4, +2 Str at Monk 8 for 20 Strength
Hm... Monk only gets a feat at level 12...
Finishing off with Rogue 3 for Thief is my plan
But yeah I strongly endorse going the heavy armor + shield route, makes life a lot easier, and there are really good shields even early in the game
You can pick up +1 Chainmail from the Grove early on and be rocking 20 AC nice and early
Currently I have Karlach wearing Adamantine Splint and an Adamantine Shield, so that anyone who attacks her in melee can get sent reeling, hit or miss 😄
And not needing any ability-score modifying items means she can wear fun gloves
I respecced everyone, because that's just the kind of guy I am, but fundamentally this build is a beatstick and should fit into any party that needs one
You could just do the classic Fighter/Rogue/Cleric/Wizard
See, the big thing is, I don't really want to take one of the people I had in my main party last time
Fair!
Wyll is a perfectly reasonable 4th member with those two
Warlock would work fine IMO
I really don't want to play another Warlock, I just finished a game where I was one
My Wyll is respecced into a Paladin 2/Bard X
A warlock in the party would be fun and nice, if someone else was playing
Ooooh
Paladin
You could also do something like Paladin 6/Sorcerer 6 for those fun sorc/wiz utility spells
Gets you Aura of Protection and real good smites
Wyll makes a fun Paladin!
And still kinda has those Pact of the Blade-y vibes in terms of mechanics
Shadowheart also makes a funny Paladin
See, the big thing for me is not really the mechanics, it's that Wyll's deal with the devil is like, a big part of his character and quests
Don't really like Sorcerer, esp the subclasses that are in the game
I always see Paladin and Warlock as sort of interchangeable, and great to multiclass for that reason
My MC is a Pallock
MC monk, Wyll paladin, SH cleric Astarion rogue is a great mix
And gives you a good mix in terms of itemization
It'll also help me learn how to play a Cleric lol
Clerics are my fave class!
I've wanted to play a cleric for a while, but never actually have
Being able to switch up your list whenever in bg3 really helps, as well as how nice Guidance, Bless and Enhance Ability are early on
Shadowheart's Trickster subclass works well, but my advice would be to play around with the different subclasses, each one has neat tricks.
Im personally a huge fan of Light for the reaction
Life Cleric is also baseline great just for giving you more heal per heal and a nice aoe heal action, just really helps lessen the impact of harder combats
What weapon do you use?
You can use anything 1 or 2 handed until you get the monk level
I just got it
There's even an argument to keep using a weapon for a bit, maybe until you get Tavern Brawler at Monk 4, but bear in mind that unless you're using unarmed strikes or a monk weapon, you cannot use the bonus action unarmed attack that monks get (you can use flurry, but not the one that doesn't require ki)
Might just use a longsword, honestly
Yeah, honestly just use the best thing that comes along
Unless it's Heavy or Two Handed, if you have proficiency in it it's a Monk weapon
Oh, huh
Live and learn!
But yeah, once you get Tavern Brawler, you'll want to switch to unarmed
Oh, my preferred gloves for the early game are the ones that give you lightning charges on hit
When I did monk it was pure 12 levels, and i was just a Dex monk until i got the Club of Hill Giant Strength
And then later when i got those 18 Dex gloves, i respecced points into Str so id have like, 16 str 18 dex 16 con 16 wis or some nonsense like that it was great
Lightning charges are just very nice for most every build
Its a fun item set
Spell sparkler and magic missiles stuff can carry early game so hard
Haha yeah, spell sparkler...
Totally didn't botch getting that and accidentally killed counselor Florrick in a game where I'm thinking of possibly respeccing into wizard or anything
Accidently?
Fun fact, did you know that if you run up to the waypoint to get it as a fast travel point, and then go do something else, florrick will burn to death?
Oh huh makes sense
I wanted to like, get the waypoint, kill the gnolls and then fast travel back and do all the Waukeen's Rest stuff in one trip ;w;
Is there any way to not have them end up dead?
Never enter the region or talk to ethel ig
I guess you could nonlethally knock them out before they run into the swamp...
yeah, nonlethal attacks is the only way i've found, but i'd love if folks found another weird solution
i feel like i learn about new weird ways to do quests every week
Yesterday I learned I could just go to the druid grove, jump off the ledge above Zevlor's hideout, and grab Karlach without triggering Raphael or any of the things between there and the grove. I am slightly embarrassed to have only learned it now.
Moreso that I did not use a scroll of feather fall despite having one and just ate 24hp
Oh, huh, I didn’t know that either
I finally found Lae'Zel
Feather Fall lets you do some neat shortcuts
The Feather Fall boots are a big deal
Feather fall boots?
In the Underdark wizard tower theres a pair of boots hidden away that give you Feather Fall
Same, although Necromancy of Thay can clear the need for it
Always get the forbidden free speak with dead
If only there was a speak with animal permanent buff
Yeah, that’d be nice
Laughs in warlock
at least Scratch gives you a ton of free Speak potions
Totem barbarian, I'm so angry I can understand animals
i have a necklace that gives me unlimited feather falling as a passive effect
it's pretty sweet
Having to give up an invocation for it is rough
And as it’s a ritual spell, a regular caster actually gets it more easily
Fortunately your eldritch blast lacks the ability to push me, since you used your second invocation on Speak With Animals XD
me using my third invocation to regain the ability to push stuff with eldritch blast
technically i think my warlock has 4 out of the maximum 5 you can have, though i don't think i used any of them for the speak with animals thing
I have a mod that raises my party limit and I've learned
Having 10+ party members is really weird
They really like walking into traps
Doesn't having that many characters kinda trivialize the combat a bit?
Strangely enough most of the time I'm struggling to use them all because they're all bunched up
My party is playing on tactician and even then we honestly didn't have too hard of a time going through the game
I just like having them :(
But yeah the trade-off is "I picked a bunch of melee characters and everyone is stuck in the Friend Blob
Gotta just jump everywhere
The AI is not meant for friends
our party didn't exactly min-max but it helps that now in the endgame our paladin can dish out like 400-600 damage in a single turn
Bwuh
That's a lot of damage
our Cleric also has insanely good melee damage cause his character has a deva mace that has like, 50 potential base damage or something to that effect
so when he starts swinging he also does great damage
Those are numbers that make my head spin
and then our Rogue can kinda just crit whenever he feels like so he also pops off often
low-key my Warlock is like, the weakest when it comes to damage without expending spellslots, which i am kinda stingy with
though i have like, 5 spellslots i can use and i can easily do like 50-80 damage a pop if i wanted to

we are, pretty strong overall
Yeah
again not min-maxed but overall pretty good
single target damage is through the roof so honestly group mob fights take longer to do than bosses
Just get a Wizard, teach them Cloudkill and boom
i would fireball
I'mm scared what you could do with minmaxing
Unless you're fighting Undead or Constructs, they're taking 5d8 damage whenever they start or end the turn in the cloud
like when we fought (Act 3 spoiler) ||The Dragon in the prison, we fought it once while just trying stuff out, died to it, then tried the fight again and killed it in about 2 turns||
Fireball's a one and done
Cloudkill lasts 10 turns and can be moved
Now, it does take Concentration
But honestly I think it's worth it
funny thing, when we fought (Act 2 finale spoiler) ||Ketheric Thorm, our Paladin hit him so fucking hard when he finally caught up with him that he immediately went to his second phase||
(Act 2 finale spoiler) ||and we absolutely bullied the Avatar of Myrkul when we finished dispatching all of its minions||
when we are done with this playthrough and do a modded one we will probably add some kind of difficulty mod
as it turns out getting to lvl 12 makes you very fucking strong
yes!
I'll put it in spoilers, but: ||theres a mushroom cliff in the Underdark that leads to a portal that goes behind that door!||
There is
There is but you can get there in other ways
yeah theres some stuffz
its just another route into / out of the underdark, really
Epilogue party?
They're changing the games epilogue?
Maybe some kinda final hurrah at camp before credits?
yeah, i could see it as the dock scene -> camp -> withers epilogue
I think this is biased to my undead friend
Howdy gang, Like a holiday turkey overstuffed with a moist heap of meaty bread, so too have you overstuffed our collective heart here at Larian. Since our launch in August, over 1.3 million players have completed Baldur's Gate 3, which, to continue the holiday metaphor, has made even the most blackened Belgian heart expand to at least three time...
Honour Mode ups the intensity of what was previously our most challenging mode - Tactician - and not only makes the game more difficult in and out of combat, but also introduces over 30 new tweaks to all of Baldur's Gate 3’s boss-fights, with a new Legendary Action system designed to catch players off-guard and increase the challenge. Now, bosses can perform new actions, adding twists and turns to all major fights throughout the game.
And
Patch 5 introduces a huge quality of life update in the form of improved inventory access. Now while in camp, you will be able to manage the inventory of companions who are not in your active party without having to recruit them first - all from one single UI.
Wild Shapes that do not have weapons will now benefit from having the Tavern Brawler feat.
Ohohoho
fancy
the boss thing sounds sick as fuck
i found that the bosses where a bit lacking in oomf, due in part to how hard we could hit them when we got to some of the more serious ones
yeah, finally a reason to actually do silly minmaxing now
a lot of bosses in act 3 where kinda trivial with how much damage potential we had
especially because it was bosses which we generally went all out for
Fixed an issue with the Tavern Brawler feat where damage bonuses were being incorrectly applied multiple times while making a throwing attack
RIP
they gave the damage to owlbear wildshape now
OHO!
OHOHO!
Lots of good stuff in these notes
yeah, owlbear leap and stuff like that was already Good and Cool, among other things like neat control spells and constant access to Speak w Animals stuff, but now you can dish out a lil more damage and thats always nice
Owlbear even has 20 Str, so maximum Tavern Brawler benefit 😄
sounds like big money
Sounds like a great update
A guy I like reviews from said the one thing he wanted from the game was a harder mode
So he'll be happy
I hope bosses getting legendary actions are a part of the custom difficulty, and not strictly part of honour mode. It'd be nice to have more optional difficulty to toggle on when things get too easy.
Same
I'd like a tactician with honor mode bonuses
Just no perma death
I hope I still have old saves from my first playthough
Same. I'm being a bit optimistic about needing a harder hard mode since a bunch of mephits just kicked our butts on tactician
we struggled a bit on a lof of earlier stuff but we're kinda coasting now that we've gotten to act 3
the bosses in particular have
not been a particular challenge
In the forge?
Those early mud mephits have wiped me once or twice on tact
nah, level 3 in the swamp.
I think we can beat them on our next try. We almost got off an ambush but everyone accidentally broke stealth for separate stupid reasons (I dug up a treasure chest 😅 )
the only thing i think i want to do right now in BG3 is (Act 3 spoiler)||actually make use of my explosive blood||
||It would be so fucking funny to die, have an enemy get close to my corpse and have one of my friends ignite my blood to kill the enemy||
||or just fireball myself while standing in a puddle of my own blood||
Larian cannot get rid of ||corpse explosion in one way or another||
has anyone done the epilogue party? i'm not really getting how to start it properly
ill let you know when the download finishes in 4 hours
Noooooo potion of healing
aight solved, for anyone needing it you need to get ||at the final choice, just after beating the netherbrain||
||is the 6mo later stuff before or after the withers cutscene||
||oh nono, i'm talking like "destroy or become the absolute", that choice||
oh yeah i know
i should have phrased mine better, i guess im asking where the new stuff fits in as far as like....
||do you go dock -> new stuff -> withers, or is it dock -> withers - > new stuff||
the first one
still have to check cause the game is giving me a lot of graphical bugs
aight mine is not triggering but i saw online and can confirm what i said
Was the fun mandatory as advertised?
OMG they changed how adding radials work, now you add one behind your selected one instead of just adding a new,one on top of the others!
So I'm exploring this new ending thing and
They gave the fans what they wanted
It's just full of ||dye and clothing||
||For all the folks who want to play dress up||
I'm honestly very bummed out cause I can't seem to get the epilogue to trigger, idk why
also, my last file of the playthrough seems, sort of corrupted like the textures are all jumbled, missing or straight up removed
not the best of feelings, getting the epilogue would be enough tho
I ran the save from the ||final choice at the brain||
But sounds like your save may be corrupted
It's possible your hard disc was getting full at the time?
i did the same, i could re-try the fight from the start but honestly idk
Throw it on easy mode
did a clean re-install just to be sure
the bugs are still there
Reinstall wouldn't change it I think
so it would be best to just, re-do the fight and see what it does
It can get corrupted if, at the time the save was made, there wasn't enough hard disc space
i see, that would explain the black textures and missing objects
so re-try it and hope the files work this time
lmaooo the new difficulty rules i love it
Alfira no 😭
New difficulty?!
new difficulty!
I'm realizing what I can do with my Too Many Characters run
Custom tactician plus with all the funny bits added on and no revival mechanics allowed
Monosave with all autosave functions on
also i found a way to recruit laezel on the beach which rules
No revival mechanics allowed? So permadeath?
Seems wild early levels
Gonna run through all the hirelings
Seems wild at all levels tbh
Idk I feel like latter levels you have tools to prevent death on tactician, usually by cc and murder
you can still use revivify scrolls but if you party wipe the files done
Until that one enemy succeeds on all their saves and rolls a nat 20 on pushing you into the pit
Ah, that's fine
Oh I aee
I feel like I've done playthroughs where there were no party wipes but I wont risk it cause traps early level have gotten close to wiping me out several times
the biggest part of Honour Mode is you cant reload saves at all, and you only get one
Yeah, im currently like... inching my way through the game to try to get as much easy/free exp as possible first, every point of HP and damage prevention counts here
im scared to hit one of the new boss tricks and get TPKd early LOL
hell yeah
I'd be worry about glitches, which while relatively rare in bg3 still prevents me from playing any ironman mode
so i did learn for that, if you close the game via task manager, it doesnt lock the save
happened again so might as well ask here, any tips on what monstrosity this is
what in tarnation
it happened just at the last cutscenes
I suspect it's related to VRAM but well
file got corrupted in some way and this happened
Might be worth throwing up a support ticket? If you're lucky they might be able to fix your files, or at least tell you what's breaking them
i was reading though the letters you get at the epilogue and just had to make this for one of them
(obvious end of game spoilers here)
|| ah yes, that bhaalspawn that will totally come into existance one day... sureeee||
lmao
Luckily it was "just" a vram thing
Resetted the graphic options, closed the game, reopened it
Worked like a charm
Currently sobbing after the epilogue🥲
Every time my friend speaks to Popper I must flee
Say, does anyone know if something special happens if your druid approachs the owlbear den while in owlbear form?
fun fact about it
before you take the ||raft ||to the || elder brain den|| there is an book an a table, near the docks
in that book there's a conversation between ||Gortash ||and the ||Emperor|| in which the latter says that's ||all part of the brain plan and everything he does goes to the benefit of said brain, he never rebelled||
How does ||destroying the brain aid the brain||
||finally gets that one song out of its head||
||I think the endpoint of the plan is "now the nethercrown is Mine so i can Control All of You and no one can destroy me", but lmao we're too cool for that||
||he has no morals and just sides with whoever he thinks gives him the best chance of surviving with control over the brain||
||yep, just survial istinct of "side with the strongest||
ooo
Judging by his ||”For thou mayest yet be needed again. Until we meet again.”||
I won't be surprised if we get a lvl 12 to 15 dlc
I want to go back to Neverwinter and Icewind Dale ;A;
Personally I'd like to get afield from the Sword Coast and the Spine of the World
The most interesting place we've seen in FR games was BG2's Athkatla, and I don't really want to retread that
Oh, and I suppose Rashemen in MotB
The point is that FR has plenty of weird and interesting places that aren't just Standard Fantasy
If we're committed to the setting we should do some of those
Honestly I'd love to see a D&D game in some other crystal sphere of interest
Do old-school Greyhawk
Gun paladins, sci-fi elements, the works
Oh man the days of hex crawling your way through and finding like literally cavemen and crashed UFOs depending on how cool your GM is
4e's Points of Light seems like a good place for a big sprawling crawl that gives them leeway to make Whatever, but really now i just want a Spelljammer/Starfinder sort of deal
I would love classic Spelljammer, the 5e version just makes me sad
i just think cool scifi crpg is something that Larian/Owlcat would knock out of the park
Owlcat is working on Rogue Trader
Yeah but i dun like warhammer
Fair enough
I’m just happy to see Karlach and Tav ||pursuing another lead to fix her heart in avernus||
Give larian an eberron game
Warforged my beloved
Lightning Trains, more than one lore-and-theme having city.. warforged, Eberron's great
Call it Five Kingdoms, make it a continent-trotting epic that ends in Sharn
Eberron even has it's own version of the Zone
Speaking of is the pronunciation of Cyre still intentionally ambiguous
I am 3 failed Honour Mode runs in, but i can feel it. This one is the one.
Jarnathan Tiptoes the Durge Rogue will succeed.
I believe in you Jarnathan!!
also i was checking out some of the honour mode fixes and
(Honour mode) Pact of the Blade no longer stacks with Extra Attack
they killed the million attack warlock
Neat its only on honor mode though
I appreciate that they didn't fix it more generally
act 3 spoilers ||just did house of hope. that was honestly one of the best parts of the game so far, I love that Raphael has his own Disney Villain song||

love that shit
Its so funny
I have two questions for the people here
The first question is did you know that you can wield Salami as a weapon?
And the second question is does anybody know how to mod weapons because I need to make a Salami of Storm Giant Strength
One, yes, people did a challenge run with a salami paladin
Two, idk about salami but i saw a mod that added a chancla do the game
Chancla?
A slipper
Ah
Does anyone else struggle to make new characters/attempts at this game? I haven't seen or done nearly everything but the main storyline kind of burns me right out
yes
It's a giant 20-30 hour game for a single playthrough, replays are hard
Also it eats my disk space so I try not to keep it on unless I'm actively playing
Guess it doesn't help that its a much longer game because I lollygag and meander around
also NGL the start is not interesting outside of a first playthrough
I wish there was like a "skip the nautiloid" option if you already finished the game once
More than 20-30 tbh
Closer to 60
I'm on second playthough thou and looking to a third
I just.. I feel like I enjoy myself less as I progress, I dunno
I've finished 8 full runs, not including failed ones
i think it helps that outside of wanting to see new dialogue/reactions or things that have been patched, you can learn what you want to skip or not, and spacebar through a lot of dialogue
just gotta spacebar through the whole shadowlands part, don't know the secret code for that'n
If you want to speed that one up, best advice I can give you is to just
||- rush to the last light inn, get the blessing of selune do the big fight, then go directly to the ambush to get the moonlanturn and free/keep it, then go straight to the shar temple
- or side with minthara/nere, get the spider lyre, get escorted to moonrise tower, get the lanturn/way to use it from balth's office, then bumrush the shar temple again||
Or just free the pixie immediately upon entering the shadowlands, and never worry about the shadow mechanic ever again
It's really not even the shadow mechanics, that's just where things start feeling rocky for me / I begin second guessing every decision and begin the Alt Feelings
yeah thats what i said :P
Are you second guessing the big decisions, or is it all the micro ones getting to you?
Alt feelings?
The game has a ton of micro decisions.
"This has been nice, but what if I was a dwarven bardadin"
And it's the micro ye, there's just so much to remember in the moment
I'm weird about respec, it's more about the "character"/roleplay of it and there'll be some cryptic magic item I already threw away I'll second guess
But like I do feel like the first third/half is the strongest part of the game?
But might be bias due to living in it more now
The first act is very hard for me to get through personally. There's a lot to do and parts of it feels very slow
also there's no merchants close enough to a warp point for it to be truly convenient
ive had to get used to the druid warp->arron run
Underdark's got two right there
thats mid-act 1 at best
i thought we were discussing act 1 ;-;
arron is a real schlep i'll admit
by the time you get to them, youre almost done with act 1
Eh, if you know what you're doing you can get them really fast
You can get to them only doing the first Bulette fight in the Underdark, I think
Run to Blighted Village and do the stuff there, go through the spider cave and there's some web you can break, and if you've got Feather Fall it'll take you to the minotaurs, but not actually in the fight, you can sneak away if you're quick
Pick up Phalar Aluve along the way,
And then I don't think there's any other encounters from there to the Myconids?
Less feasible on higher diffs but thats a good path to go if youre just needing a merchant
I've only played on uh, middle one
Even then, you can easily do the Underdark stuff leading up to there at like, level 3
Ye once you're comfy with Act 1 you can do some really funny stuff with it
Level 3 underdark is 2spooky5me
But i recently did a level 2 ethel so anything is possible
I will hand it to Larian they made it really hard to make skipping around feel like sequence breaking
Geez
Yeah theres so many solutions
If you can do a level 2 Ethel you can absolutely run to the Myconids
That was very specific cheese, but on Tact/and now Honour I didn't even bother going to the village for the spider until nearly level 4
I'm still finding new stuff for A1 too
I have an idea to solo as an assassin (at least thematically) and see how much of the game I can complete in total stealth.
Honour Mode has been a really nice change as far as really forcing me to take my time and maximize my items
Bring the lads in when I can't but just see how much of it can be Hitman'd through
The full skyrim stealth experience gets better if you have a good way to flee combat too, like misty step
Wild, it's one of the first things I've done in my past few playthroughs, specifically for the Myconid colony
All those extra attacks in Tact really add up in the underdark 😭
I am gonna figure out the Salami of Storm Giant Strength like, tomorrow or somethin
Does anybody know if increasing Strength that high would even be supported by the game?
(Storm Giant Strength is 29 STR)
Everything seems to be hill giant but i'm sure you can go higher with mods
I know there's an item that gets you to 23!
That would be the gauntlets of hill giant's strength.
Ye, so at the very least you can get 23 if it doesn't allow you to change the values
Would it do +1d4 fire if the salami is spicy
Can you look at companion's inventories while they are in camp?
I think you can now?
Does anybody know how?
Gimme a sec I'll have a look
ty
There's a button on the left side of the screen at camp
It pulls up non-companion inventories
It's a little cumbersome but acceptable
That's a lot of cheesewheels and completed games
I'm surprised berserker is in the tops considering the top 3 classes were the CHA ones

Spoilers for durge and act 3
I still want to see how much 'well, there's no paladin in the starting lineup' influenced the numbers but the survey would be impossible
Gale #1 is a surprise
🤔 You can reset every companion NPC's class yeah
Tbf when starting the game you dont know that
Oh I see
Funny meme run
gale tehe barbarian
Mostly sad that I can't get the mod that adds a bunch of 5e races to work, assuming its out of date
Goliath would be fun ;-;
If they are doing a dlc expansion / remastered version
I wouldn't think it impossible they add some more races
Especially since dialogue wise it doesn't often come up
More so if you're the only one
You know what race id love to see? Goblin that'd be so interesting in act 1
2nd choice is kobold cause you'd be megahated by the goblins in act 1
I think there's a good few that can be crossed off from happening
Kenku for example
do something solely for me specifically and make shardminds from 4e playable
Shardmind are so fuckin cool
Honour Ethel is fun

He earned it
We've started playing this recently, and we just got to the night where you party after ||helping save the tieflings at the grove at the beginning of the first act; talking to Lae'zel, only to have her immediately go "I will never fuck you" was certainly a surprise.||
Lae'Zel is certainly a character
She doesn't want to have sex, she wants to... check notes
Lick the sweat from our brow
Laezel is one of the gith of all time
Lae'Zel doesn't have sex, she fucks.
Oh gods. They actually made a scene where Volo lobotomizes you.
we win these
I sort of already knew the games award would be dominated by Baldurs gate 3
Best FPS: Baldurs gate 3
truly
What other game lets me abuse dialog cutscenes to push enemies off ledges while my friend interacts with their monolog
You can probably do that in dwarf fortress /j
The number of conversations that have ended with the sneaky half orc throwing them off a cliff mid sentence
Truly awe inspiring
||Nere took a swim in lava|| but somehow we got the loot
big
me and the lads murdering our way through every situation on accident after attempting to be good and heroic
the fact that our Paladin still has his oath with the sheer amount of creatures we have senselessly killed is astounding
We have a system. Her cute half elf pretends to be a bad guy sympathizer while I play Hitman with the environment
My barbarian is very good at being a rogue despite having no levels in it
as a Warlock i was uh, very good at shooting eldritch blast i guess?
incredibly charismatic /j
honestly probably the least helpful person in the party cause i kept acting like a lunatic
My experience with warlock is very similar to my experience with 5e warlock: I remake Elric of Melniboné
Diseased little man with a fucked up magic sword
my Warlock basically does not do morality and instead works on like a rep system
you are nice to her, plus rep
you are annoying, all your rep goes away and she starts to plot your demise
praying on the downfall of half the world cause they mildly inconvenienced her
My half orc tiger barbarian with all the items that let him cosplay a low level necromancer and the sneaky drow hood creeping around is somehow
Somehow
actually just impossible to reason with because as soon as she gets annoyed or bored all negotiations break posthaste
On par with Halsin and Wyll in terms of "unquestionably a good person"
it's a good thing we had a morally questionable Paladin and Cleric to keep her in line
and our morally righteous Rogue
Running joke is that I've adopted several of the kids we've met over the course of the game
our Rogue kinda did that too
I am killing villains to pay for this family I've collected
our Paladin and Cleric are on the Virgil DMC grind
our Rogue is actually just like, a credit to the neighborhood type beat
I'm very close to being a whole ass squid also
and i the Warlock am a menace to society
funnily enough, only our Cleric and Paladin dove deep in that pool
our Rogue i don't think has used tadpoles at all and i've only used the normal ones
so our holy men and women are the most like, fucked up in the party
it's honestly kinda hilarious
"the worm can let us control others' minds"
"Forget that watch this" teleporting and summoning black holes
I love zipping around and forcing enemies to move around with blasts and pulls
i have two resistances i can pick, one is elementals only but the other one can allow me to resist any type of damage and i can switch it once per long rest which is funny
What's the elemental resist from?
funny weapon i found
Hey I’m doing my first dark urge play through, which class would fit the story (no spoilers pls) but also “feel powerful” I’m leaning cleric or wizard. I want that imposing battlefield control vibe
what about paladin
It's hard to strictly go wrong with divination wizard
You could also do a wacky multiclass, if you vibe with that
Maybe, I wish four elements scaled better there visuals are really nice
Honestly the default Sorc is really good.
I think for battlefield control Cleric, Druid, Wizard and Bard are good contenders; im a big fan of Bard Durge
I went with warlock
Note that without shenanigans you miss Potent Robe with Durge
Which is very nice for warlocks
I think, if you're trying to be a Good Durge, having proficiency in Wisdom Saving Throws is a good idea.
there is a feat for it thats nice, but getting it innately as a class helps
same w/ being able to... buff yourself in some way, with Guidance or Enhance Ability etc etc
Clearly the answer is to be a bardbarian
bardbarian durge: oh no im out of spell slots
some guys: yeah get 'im!
bardbarian durge: :) what a shame im out of spell slots i cast Axe
im currently doing my honour mode run as a bard/rogue mc which is going nicely
i refuse to fail a skill check
Guidance gate 3
guidance+enhance ability+expertise+20stat+i'm cool+ratio
+respeccing a party member into a paladin? Not sure if that works for durge dialogues
bruh
i'm gonna need to fucking reinstall Baldurs Gate 3
game still does not fucking launch through steam
Have you tried verifying the files?
no
Id try that first to see if it saves time
^
last time i had an error and tried that it did nothing but i will give it a try tomorrow before i reinstall it
All oath breaker party
https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/15wvft5/comment/k86adoz/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
Encase you still have trouble
tried installing the x64 visual studio's version and it did not work
ok i guess i'll do it tomorrow
unless i need to uninstall all the other versions which i don't have the energy for
then this fix does not work for me
shrug I tried
thanks
honestly incredibly fucking annoyed that the game just stopped working through steam randomly
I enjoyed wizard for this.
If you don’t want to do a caster, barbarian/fighter multi class can actually do good control and be absolutely devastating with the right items
battlemaster fighter saying "drop your weapon" helps in a ton of fights
(Act 3 spoilers)||fighting some kind of grease hobo||
||he died by running into an Insect Plague to escape Hunger of Hadar||

Hey quick question, if I have armour of Agathys up and I kill some one, will dark ones blessing over write my temp HP?
Yes, only if it's higher than your current
And I’m assuming that will remove the Agathys damage ?
No I don't believe so, it just stays until you run out of temp HP
That would be dope af lol
lovely, verified BG3 and it work now
yay
cleric is plain useful
I've been having a ball of a time playing a storm sorc lately
i found this
Finally, an open mouth wojak I enjoy
Sans Withers lmao
Mother-
I mean they're both seemingly inexplicably powerful skeletons that everyone is obsessed with.
So I randomly pulled out inflict wounds, in table top it was always mid but it seems pretty damn dope here
Spells feel better when you aren't pressed to save them
Just never use cantrips unless you're a warlock
Is there a way to optimize for it with items I missed ? Nothing jumps out
General spell stuff is like dual wielding staffs that give you +1 to spell attack rolls since they both stack
Also in ranged slot any passive stuffs that affect spells or attacks in general since equipped item effects are always active even if you're not holding them
Cool I’ll keep it in mind
for Inflict Wounds, Prone will give you advantage
Battlemaster Fighter Trip Attack+ ( someone who loves advantage for melee ) is an easy tried and true combo that works on damn near everything in game
That’s cool yeah
This game is going to kill me. My heart cannot withstand this. [act 3 stuff]
||I just managed to kill Gortash and take his netherstone. I've had Karlach in my party for most of the game, and since Dammon got killed in Act 2 (he got corrupted by the Shadow Curse at the Last Light when Isobel got kidnapped) I haven't been able to find anyone to fix Karlach's heart. And holy fuck, her dialogue after the fight and seeing Gortash's corpse nearly broke me. She's gotten revenge on the person that caused all the shitty things that happened in her life, and she's still going to die. And there's nothing she can do about it. Despite all the shit she had to get through just to get here, she's still going to die.||
||I am going to cry||
||At least you had the option of saving her, she's going to die in the game i'm playing despite the fact that Dammon is alive, and she didn't even get to help kill Gortash(we are 4 plsyers and NPC interactions dies an ignoble death in 4-player co-op)||
||:(||
||We literally cannot help her even though we have had all the materials and access necessary since like act 1||
||this game is going to turn into depression simulator during the epilogue||
||This is perhaps my biggest gripe with the entire game and something i think is genuinely just bad, which is that 4 player co-op loses out on all cool party npc interactions and quests||
||aren't there mods that remove party size limits?||
||literally everyone in our game except Lae'zel and maybe Halsin are going to have shitty endings||
||Astarion is dead, Karlach is going to die, Gale is probably dying, Shadowheart fucked off and is never escaping her indoctrination, etc||
||Halsin might get a happy enough ending and Lae'zel is in a relationship with our parties Paladin so she's doing pretty good and that's about it, everyoke else is going on the pain train or has already been||
Yeah the 4 player coop stuff does seem like an after thought design wise
||didn't exist when we started our playthrough||
It really really feels like it
Genuinely one of if not the biggest problem i have with the game
Like they had to add the closet you can throw online party members in if you go without them
Yeah
I think it's probably best with 2
probably, yeah
Cos then you get companion banter + can bring them to their plot relevant stuff
Going to use the extended party mod in our next playthrough
There is another mod that counts all companions as being there for cutscenes etc but not combat
So we can have a chance of interacting with the characters
But I dunno if that works with multiplayer etc
Yeah
Everyone is welcome to mine and Karlash's date
Lmao
Also not being able to interact outside of camp makes relationships difficult
The only person in our party who managed one was our Paladin
Who somehow managed to almost start three
Through the power of their god, all things are possible
"Through Tyr's sword, I was granted the power of exceptional rizz"
That reminds me, I hear you can ||knock out Minathra|| to get them to join you later
Without needing to ||kill the druid grove||
His characters name is Duandrumec Tazdorim but we often call him Blundermec
Which is kinda unearned cause he pulls W's far more often than he fails
But it is funny
now i want to do a multiplayer playthrough
It's a lot of fun
I just need to overcome the age-old enemy of all D&D players
scheduling
Unless they've changed something, you need a mod to do that. But very possible they've changed something.
Ye I think they made the change in patch 5
But not tried it out myself
You don't get that scene
But still
gonna be honest, I had no idea they were a potential companion until people starting talking about it. I just killed her on sight
Yup everyone does 😛
On investigation, it seems like maybe you have to fight her without talking to her first?
||"I think I can do anything if you're there. Even die." my fucking heart||
Big sads 😦
I almost don't want to finish the game so I don't have to see what happens in the epilogue
It works! Ive done it.
Ah nice
You miss out on her Act 1 romance scenes, which is a shame, but you can recruit her as normal in Act 2.
well, clarity: you miss out on a really long sex scene which is whatever for most but the big thing is you miss some vulnerability and a nice, insightful conversation afterwards that i think paints her in an interesting light
Finally getting to the end of the first Act, and we're still unsure if we should go through the Underdark or the mountain pass...
Absolutely.
Personally, I'd suggest going through the Underdark if it's your first time
