yeah holy shit this boss has so much hp
ok i got a good weapon for it now
this seems more doable
choked on a really good run just now sadly 😔
oh my god
the ice city retainers can slip on the ice and eat shit
that's so fucking hilarious
i was shooting some of the retainers right next to the second bonfire and one of them slipped off the cliff trying to chase me
sat there for a solid few seconds before getting up that's so funny
ok new least favourite area along with the harbor in base game
||Archon Fleet Shipwrecks||
think i just need to not be near water
ok Aegis and perfect block grindstone go hard on ||Lumacchio||
It's a reference to "the old man and the sea"
ahhh
The Old Man and the Sea is a 1952 novella by the American author Ernest Hemingway. Written between December 1950 and February 1951, it was the last major fictional work Hemingway published during his lifetime. It tells the story of Santiago, an aging fisherman, and his long struggle to catch a giant marlin. The novella was highly anticipated and...
need them to stop spamming fast annoying enemies at me
The order guys with the snake hats?
omw to ||rose estate||
game this like "fight the weak enemy hordes" only works if the enemies don't fucking all kill me in two hits
cursed dogs evil evil evil
The dogs are the worst
That was such a fun fight. Esp when you dodge the grab and it's just stuck eating ice
god tier amulet
My amulet budget is too tight v-v
have grown too attached to Stamina Regen +
and holding every object i own at the same time
the only thing i summoned on was swamp
I might have also done one for High Priest Whatever, I could not read his ass
ok got fucked by the final boss
but my game was lagging so bad i couldn't do anything
it's incredibly laggy in the ||Rose Estate|| for no reason
also hit up ||Blood Artist|| with the Aegis poke
actual skill differential
confused asf what the game wants me to do with ||Arlecchino's second phase||
imma try it tomorrow ig it's a bit late now to grind
||WAIT YOU COULD REVIVE LEA TO HELP WITH THE FIGHT!?||
well that certainly changes things
aight i won lmao
Aegis + ||Puppet of the Future Welder blade/Lorenzini Bolt handle|| get fucked ||Arlecchino, Blood Artist||
genuinely just hit him with the skill diff
got to the end of ||Rosaura's story||
genuinely just made me cry
ok finished up with all the final stuff and uh
||Simon and Gepetto deserve worse||
is my main takeaway
things did not go bad enough for them
fucking owned, L Swamp Monster
I’ve been playing Heavy Bonk with a side of fire damage
And it HATED that
I have finally made it to the DLC
Nice
The dlc will give you some incredibly fun weapon options
I'm thinking about doing a ng++ run but lowering the difficulty so i can just have some good fun with it
May be a lil bit obsessed
Grats! There is a lot of fun to be had in teh dlc. there are also elephants.
i got to the frigid outskirts
this shit sucks I'm not coming back here
i was under the impression it'd be like okay maybe it's just a long path of bullshit spam enemies no it's probably that and also it sucks to do anything in
I will get no satisfaction doing anything here
I did tell you
Frigid Outskirts is not a place of honor
There is no fun to be had there
Nothing of value is there
no don't do the passages
Freyjas words echoed
i didn't think it'd be literally elden ring's snow biome
wow that sucks
also
on the final boss of the dlc because im not doing that shit
these knights are not helping at all
none of the passage bosses are good
no wonder this place froze over
Ngl
bunch of bums
Burned Ivory King is the GOAT
you got blue smelter, touble cats, and the gank squad
two smelter demons including fume knight in one dlc is crazy work
Biggest gigachad in ds2
gank squad is actually like. whatever compared to all this other shit
But in the lore he is like
Actually genuinely the coolest guy ever
Genuinely just the best
oh what's his lore?
TL;DR Burnt Ivory King is basically the only cool king in ds, he loved his wife and treated her so well she overcame her nature as a shard of manus and loved him back
He also built his entire castle and throne dirdctly over the chaotic abyss specifically so he could personally jump in if there were any problems so he could save his kingdom
He's just fucking based
antipontiff
Gwyn be like "ooooh i'm so scared of dying please link the flame ooooh" and in comes Burnt Ivory King who personally jumps into the chaotic abyss to 1v1 the Old Chaos
i might put on symbol of avarice and just throw myself at this until i can wield bone fists
gwyn conquered by fear
vendrick is a fraud who bailed
bik personally fights fundamental forces of nature itself and has an entire circle of knights who respects that shit and went with him
and then whoever was left also is STILL down to do the same shit
He's also the only king who married one of Manus shards who didn't get backstabbed by his wife
Cause he loved his wife
moral of ds2 is just love your wife
Unless you're Vendrick
unless you're vendrick
He was too busy missing Alonne ig
Lmao
The moral story is Kings ain't shit
The exception that proves the rule is Burned Ivory King
part of what ilike about ds2 is its a lot less crytpic
Gwyn could never indeed
theres still cool stuff to discover but its no longer
just to understand major events
i never actually delved into ds2's lore
i should do that sometime
also holy shit bone fist is so fucking cool
i don't know what else i would run
this is absolutely my next playthrough's main weapon
The giants in ds2 are cool
they are
Hey.
The Frozen Reindeers have a rare chance to drop the bone fist
I have to go back in
I do like the idea of phantom only drops
but not here
I'm free again!
vendrick slander
honestly all the shards except Nashandra were pretty chill ngl
Iron just hid away and blessed the guards around her, Sunken got a little spiteful but tbf those drakeknights deserved it, and ofc Ivory is alright
and even then, Nashandra is honestly not as bad as Gwyn or Pontiff, she's really just ambitious
I think?
admittedly looser on the ds stuff but she really only ||encouraged Vendrick to attack the giants for personal gain + seek the throne of want - which is also what you're doing, and I don't think her getting it would be particularly bad? It would pass in time?||
Pontiff is over there fucking making tortured dog-people. for fun I guess!
It's how he gets rid of inconvenient people IIRC
yeah he's the worst
running a torture dungeon, culivating The Deep
just nothing good. awful guy.
Still think they should have kept Pontiff as the big bad end boss
I also
give gwyn some credit for actually biting the bullet and sacrificing himself for his age
it at least wasnt a cynical ploy to personally hold power, though you could read it like that for the gods as a whole
he did literally kill himself
I don't super like that Ringed City made Gwyn worse retroactively
mmm
I can see that
he was always a little suspicious for unpersoning his son and giving Seath so much leeway to do his experiments
and afaik even in ds1 the gods didn't see the humans as equal in any way
I dont think the war against the dragons was a slight on him or the other Lords though
Gwyn was definitely never great
But what Ringed City sets up is different I feel I dunno
I never felt like linking the fire in Ds1 was a particularly bad ending
by ds3 I think the argument is stronger, the world is literally just ash and suffering
but in 1, yeah, it makes things good again, for a while
Both endings in ds1 are pretty terrible
Ds2 has a good ending on a personal level (immune to the curse, never hollowing), but that's it
You know, i almost htink the damage in the dlc isnt that bad, it's actually just the enemies have too much hp vs the damage they put out
thingsi n the dlc are crazy tanky compared to the base game
The basic enemies are kinda copypast ngl, theyre like Goombas
With color variations
Also their poise is too high i had to equip the +30 stagger ring to make them flinch with a zwei
Btw
Aside from the blacksmith hammer, whats a large blunt weapon with a sideways swing attack?
*one handed
I feel this way by 3, though its dark seems calmer than the ds1 age of dark
but even then, its an end to the world by letting it rest with a strong maybe that all this will just happen again cyclically with the birth of another flame
for most people in most places in ds1, linking the fire at least allows them to live their entire lives without (metaphysical) issue
imo Its closer to lulling the DeS Old One back to sleep than what prolonging the fire is by ds3
Wooo, True FInal Boss down on the first attempt this run
Complete with the ol' classic: SHOTPUT TO THE SKULL, SUCKA
oh i just realized you probally skipped alonne due to not having the heart
huh
oh the fucking ashen mist heart
that's in the aerie isnt it?
that's so far offff
one of the last areas in the game, yeah
AUUGGGHHHH
throne
no i was thinking more of the twin throne fight
watcher and defender yeah
you can do them once you get the kings ring i beleive but i could be wrong
but that would make them before aerie
you can but yeah
i never do
if you swerve back and do it asap it's before aldia's and aerie
but I always just chainsmoke em
i think that belfry, and chariot are the ones i don't like that isnt a passage bos
oh and authoiry
take a guess what the worst boss was in my sl1 run
big dragon
or giant lord maybe
i didnt do much of dlc in my sl1 run
or ancient dragon
fuckoff huge healthbar
there're a lot that can be tricky
it is actully giant lord but not giant lord at the same time
its the giant lord runup
giant lord superposition
yeah that totally tracks
in specificly sl1 the worst run up in the game is giant lord
giant lord has a fuckton of HP and the run to him is "if you breathe wrong the firebombs will kill you"
which makes it just an unpleasant fatigue battle
the lord was no the problem that much its the fire yeah
he also has the most one hit kills
even nash and veldstat only had a few
You can farm the giant lordfor mega runes
but the flipside a lot less pressure
I did a whole training montage with giant lord
i think the best early farm is heide
ive not touched the dlc other than to grab some i tems i think
That sounds awful
veldstats phase 1 doesnt have any 1 hit kills
phase 2 does
ive thought about doing a level 1 challange of nioh
i doubt id finish it
my sl1 run of ds1 run died at 4 kings
4kids suck
im not gonna attempt sl1 ds3
that just sounds painful at all times
i wouldnt be surpised if you just get instant killed all the time by the half way mark or less
I've done all three games sl1 once or twice, ds2 is more grueling than ds3
ds3 is 80% ohkos
but your dodge is so blandly overpowered that it doesn't matter very much
you just roll forever
ds2 at least has limited respawns and i didn't get oneshot outside of the really easy to dodge magic until veldstat
that and with all the extra souls i could buy so many yummy gems
jem...
the surge feels like it would also suck at no leveling
brightbugs are fuckbusted too
since you would never be able to get a full armor set
and not be able to use most stuff
the surge?
as much as people like the rally mechnic of bloodborne i think its done better in surge
or something simlar
Yeah there's a couple armor sets you can buy or find in chests but you wouldn't be able to upgrade to keep up with enemy stats
i think at min level the only thing you can equip is 2 of the light armor arms
and thats it
and a leg or head
wait there is actully one armor set you can full use
that you canont get until part 2
it has zero requirements
otherwise you can wear head and arms of lynx
and that is your best armor until ironmaus
how the fuck do i kill this guy
who?
how is rally done in surge?
iron or ivory?
i assume ivory
first phase can't really be sped up
you just have to get your frogs
ivory
and put them in the portals
do i have to like do anything special
seems to be after killing enough mooks
but like being bum rushed by a whole platoon is pretty tedious for the kiting alone
Iirc it's timed in some way
I can't remember how i did it
But there is no escaping the knight gank
its basicly a damage race
so, the burned frogs come out over time
and then after the "wave" is done spawning
your frog seals the portal
and you move on
it's all time-based
so just kill the idiots as they come out
with whatever you've got
Don't the portals stay sealed between attempts?
I don't remember
No
nnnnnnooooot from what i remember
no
frustratingly no
this is one of those cases where I'm seriously considering asking for player help once im in a region with better wifi
since lucatiel is well intentioned but
dies almost immediately
I could technically just learn to do the second phase hitless i suppose
any extremely quick strength weapons?
whats your armor like
armor in ds2 is actully pretty good
not as good as 1
but still really good
+6 to 10 jesters
no poise but uh
wearing heavier armor makes me roll kinda stubby
cycling between demons great hammer and two large clubs
it's helped me learn how to equip swap from the menu at least
The more aggression and counters and damage you do in The Surge it turbo charges your little companion drone and you can use the energy either for heals or offense
so how equipload works is 70% is the fatroll break point and 30% is the fast roll one
but also it affects your stamina regen
yupyup
i guess weight isn't that bad of an issue
rather i need a weapon that doesn't have an end lag with a prosperous retirement account
i think i got a mildly upgraded one somewhere in my box
mastodon is farmable and is str
there's a lot of random small enemies that drop weapons ten times bigger than themselves
old knight is veyr fragile
I've personally experienced them
i don't think i've ever actually gotten a mastodon greatsword spider drop
a million zweis and mail breakers though
oh, i clear the spider pit out every playthrough i ever do
because i'm arachnophobic and jesus christ dark souls 2
its spiders hit me infinitely harder than like
any other video game's
especially the horrific parasitic ones
i think if i ever made a soulslikes id do some cruel likes like make the third time you kill an enemy drop an estus shard
so people think its a random drop
be funny without being cruel though
Need to make something like ds2's incessent breaking wooden planks habit but add an area that's played completely straight as being made and held up by as few wooden planks as feasibly possible
the footstep sounds echo and reverb just to heighten the experience
the gutter comes close but there's a few falls. i need this to feel like how the dragon rider feels seeing a speedrunner for the 50th time
ive played too much ds2 i just speed run the gutter
one of the monsters of all time
and the shrine no longer is a problem
the only thing that sucks is when i need something form the gutter
engagingly mean*
so blighttown but with ds2's OSHA team
yes
a sort of meta-meta or post-meta antagonism for anyone that's used to playing soulslikes
excellent
it'll be full of slightly different colored patches of wood that will have darkened shaders when you look through it, giving the impression of a breakable section
there's going to be a cave at the end past the boss fight and it's there where you fall in an untelegraphed area of stone that breaks for no reason other than to plunge you (with temporarily boosted gravity) into the next zone without taking fall damage
like my ideal soulslike if i were a gamedev would be a pretty tame comedy if it were your first entry into the genre, but a horror-adjacent piece if you're used to playing them
i think pranking player is better when it doenst result in loss of progress like that er sewers
the er sewers is just stupid and seeing the 3d map im like
yeah alright
fine you can have that one
you got me
Oh? 👀
it's just the same sewer layout like three times on top of each other
Oh, do you mean the catacombs?
maybe, it's been a while since i touched er
Mmm
Afawk the sewers themselves are just terribly laid out, but the catacombs is designed to make you go “wasn’t I just here?”
yuuuup the triple sewer attack
The Sewers Are Good
We hate the sewers but we love that catacomb
I know but im greedy
I want Two
Gonna fuck up my Soul Memory for that sweet minimum str/dex for dual wielding bone fists
Vengarl and O'Hara watching me lead them into the cold ninth layer of Hell just to farm the accursed horses for bone fists:
They drop bone fists?
honestly speaking
i never gave Frigid Outskirts the time of day aside from trying to get through it to kill Lud and Zallen
The fact that you cant just bumrush it because the Hell Kirin are faster than you can sprint
the inability to fucking see anything or find your way even when you're looking at an actual fucking map
while being constantly harassed by the hell kirin
lmaooooooooo
this is SO real
Had a really funny moment playing yesterday where my friend watched and asked me why the fuck i was throwing so much shit at enemies
also TIL there is something you get for doing boss rematch
i will be doing some boss rematches
would have been interesting to actually be told this at any point
I sniped a miniboss earlier at the end of the fight with a single gear
Just maximum disrespect kill
Based
I used Aegis to no-diff the final boss of the dlc
Pulled out my great lance and started playing Monster Hunter
Might be my favourite weapon in the game now
Dlc weapon spoilers btw
For reference it's the ||Puppet of the future welder's blade and the Lorenzini Bolt handle combined||
What does the handle do again? I know the head is a flamethrower Lance
The handle is ||rocket powered, it's basically a stab version of the Booster Glaive handle||
The blade is ||the longest blade in the game unless i'm mistaken, and really good for a poke weapon, especially combined with the bolt handle, it has incredibly impressive range||
apparently you can only get the drops if you're a phantom in someone else's world
ds2 why
Oh, neat. I'm not a fan of poke weapons generally, but glad it's working for you.
I'm just having fun pale knighting everything and or Cataclysm
Very No Survivors!
I've been enjoying ||The Claawwws||, very very violent
And so crit
And then discord ate a message :Yc
I like the idea that it's supposed to encourage cooperative play, since the community of ds1 is like NEVER SUMMON YOU'RE A CASUAL DO NOT USE THIS GIVEN MECHANIC OF THE GAMEEEE
but also like I'd be happy with an incredibly small drop rate and it being boosted 20x from being a summon
I understand why it's there, you can also just get another bone fist by using a bonfire ascetic, too
and not have to touch what i think is the worst area I've encountered so far
you could actully do parts of the dlc with people that didnt have it
thats what those wierd hub areas are
for example if you didn't have the dlc you could enter the first room but couldnt go farther and people could summon you into the dlc despite not having it
yeah
unfortunately I don't think I'll find many people wanting a sunbro summon in the frigids
id just recomend getting it in its normal location
im at Aldias keep so i think i can nab infinite ascetics, unless the video exploit is outdated by now
yeah
after i clear the area I'm just going to ascetic it
i really wouldn't recomend carring about powerstancing it
my awesome beam...
also you would need to powerstance about 20-25 str and 45 dex to powerstance
ill just soul vessel it in the next run
you can powerstance it with just normal cetus or your hand
Bone fist has a unique moveset if power stanced
It has three movesets, one handed, power stance, and two handed
Gives it immense mix up potential
Also it has an absurd counter rating which means hitting people during their animations makes them explode
i think it also just has S rating on everything when you infuse it
so it basically works for anything i have as long as i meet reqs
it's soooo cool
I really hope whatever they do next in this series, we get more weapons in the lies of p/light Greatsword style, where the movesets actually smoothly chain into each other
i just want weapons to not be so homogenized
You mean samey?
yeah
ds2 doesnt really have this problem
but in elden ring a lot of weapons have the same exact moveset with very simlar stats
within the same class
theres not a single valid reaosn to use the weathered straitsword vs the shortsword or longsword
Yeah, is a product of their design approach
in ds2 the broken sword has decent durablit yand the lowest stamina cost of any weapon in the game
which makes it really good for poison/bleed
There's a ton of cruft in Elden Ring
its also the only thing that sl1 can powerstance without boosts
(but also I'm the sort of crazy person who would argue you should get rid of two handing/one handing, and it's just locked to the type of weapon).
Great success
But yeah the Bolt Lance as i am calling it is my fav weapon combo along with The Gyroscope
The Gyroscope uses ||Maniacs pinwheel blade and La Vendetta handle||
The "will it blend" combo
It's got one from neutral, one from a light attack, and one that's a follow up to any other charged heavy
You can use ||Arche sword|| to become ||Budget Laxasia|| which fucking rules
Which also deletes any sucka stupid enough to be behind you
I also made lore accurate Mjolnir using the ||Coil Mjolnir blade and Arche sword handle||
I
AAAAAA

As if Frigid Outskirts wasn't already the worst area in the game by a country mile
is it wierd to say i wish lies of p had like a jokeish weapon
or a weapon that everyone agrees is the worst
that you get early on
like broken straitsword, surge's pipe and paddles etc
You want a weapon that'll be used for challenge runs
yeah kinda
can i parry the ivory king
is ds2 advanced enough to let me parry this Maybe Sword mf
i beat him
the deciding factor was discovering the second summon sign and just having a better phase 1
would be such an enjoyable fight if he did less backflips and also had no phase 1
time to ascetic the outer wall
Yeah, so it's releasing Friday, June 20th 2025.
Thank you for all of your support this past year and a half! I can't believe I'm saying this, but I am actually releasing my first game. I never thought I'd get to say that.
Also I'm releasing my first album! The OST will be out on streaming platforms the same day as release.
-mrkogamedev
oh that's a lot sooner than I thought

3D metroidvanias are basically entwined with soulslikes as a concept yeah
The Soulsy genre is like, one part Metroidvania (specifically Symphony of the Night as a core influence tbh), one part old school Zelda games, one part Resident Evil 3D survival horror
the demo was neat, but I could not beat the boss tbh
My big theory on why souslikes popped off is because most 3d actio ngames have pretty mindless combat - Which isnt a bad thing (Like i find ToTK/BoTW to be deep enough). So getting "combat actually matters + explroation actually matters" in one box was very good
Ambushing a target with a fully amped Pale Knight Y is hilarious
Guardian down
One of the best Incredibly Large Type Guys I can recall in recent Souls, never felt like I was fighting the camera or hitboxes
it's a fun boss
did you run into issues with hmi on ng+?
hmi?
i didn't have much problems with Guardian no
assuming we're talking about the same thing
door guardian?
Anyone got any Nioh 2 tips? I'm reinstalling on pretty much the start of the game so I'm rusty
yeah i had issues with it on ng+ i could not down it until i swaped to a strat that invomlved just spaming the fire arm
i just pulled out my big stabba and stabbed it in the leg 200 times to stagger it
Get magic and ninjutsu for buffs
one thing to note nioh 1 vs 2
you get magic/ninja points by using them
so you need to use the consumables to unlock the refillables
I thought the onmyo and the ninjutsu were kind of an either or thing in builds? You can grab both?
Yeah I was gonna try a ninjutsu run since it seemed like a good pair with odachi / fists and good to know I can pick up some freebie magic on the way
odachi i know has magic
as a third scaling stat
I do konw the best way to farm the levels is via fire
slimes are hyper alergic to fire so they take a ton of extra damage thus giving you more xp
It's not
You can have both, and probably should
Both have very important buffs and debuffs
Omnyo for instance has a magic spell that gives you Ki regen and instantly purifies Yokai zones
Well that sure is handy
And Ninjustu has damage up pills
Outside of "use the thing to level the thing" and "maybe match your damage type bonuses" is there any general buildcraft to worry about in NG or should I not worry about armor weights and the like until NG+?
Every Souls I've played I've beelined to the heavy armor so the trend will probably continue
Builds don't come up too much in NG
I don't really recomend heavy armor that much until really late
Softcaps are all really low
its just too heavy most of the time
oh and if you see any gear with a good transferable effect (look for a rectangle next ot the stat) save it.
Like is there a tangible disadvantage on the armor weight besides slower dodge because I've done the slow rolls for a while
the loss in dodge speed is not worth it in nioh
even medium armor you can be kinda pushing the weight a bit sometimes
you can find sometimes gear that weights less than normal
which if you can find a transferable version can be really good
this is what my final gear looked like at the end of 100% for nioh 1
Never let your weight threshold go into the yellow
Never
And for context, I use heavy armor in y Nioh 2 build
Specificially the Yasuke gear
But I had to invest hard into getting my threshold high enough to make it work
i had for a time a single peice of heavy armor
because it had some goofy stat o nit before i had this setup
i think it gave me some inssane resistant to projectiles to the point i wore it
this one peaice of gear gave me about 30% firearm damge reduction
also there is a secret
firearms reduction isnt just firearms
its actully more like projectile damage reduction
That's pretty neat - will keep an eye out
some bosses can drop their armor sets as blueprints you cna craft them
Will the blueprints tell you the item bonuses before you craft so you know what you're getting into or is this something that'll need a wiki lookup
theres even an accority item that counts itself as one of a set
so you can wear 2 items of two diffrent sets and you actully get 3 of both
Yeah that one is used fucking everywhere lategame
I'm thinking there's no way to pause Nioh? Got it installed, redid the tutorials, punched a couple of red summons, got a phone call and got got
there is
i forget how
but there is a way
it might be start then select
yeah its start then select
Thanks, that's a win
made it to the final boss of Overture
I feel like the importance of certain characters may have been distorted by their reception by the fanbase somewhat
Like, it feels like at some point there was a throughline for this plot where all the major bosses were focuses of the story, but at this point it feels like everything got hijacked by ||Arlecchino|| because the funny man from the maingame who never got a boss fight or a confrontation needs his time in the spotlight
It does feel a little out of the blue
Also ||this is powered by Wish Magic, but they couldn't send us to actually change all that much, I'm sure Romeo would have preferred a save a week ago||
I don't really agree. A lot of this legendary stalker stuff was established or implied in the base game, overture is just giving us context
Also ||King of Puppets sure has extended red arms, huh||
What gets me is she already did the thing that made her Legendary
And now it's Again
I feel like I have less context now
|| /also kind of distracted by the Heath Ledger Joker Impression type voice||
|| and like why did this thing need Buzzsaws, it could have murdered a bunch of rich people without them installing some kind of insane Devil Trigger Blood Wizardry ||
i do like the fight and all
||and wait how does he even end up installed in the goddamn phone system from here, i'm just a bit 'huh, alright, sure'||
No this is explaining how and why she vanished and how/why various other events happened
That seems pretty obvious? Alchemists dragged the corpse off afterwards and locked it away, in case it would be useful later.
They need to get over their obsession with this fella, tons of puppets out there
And that's partly what I mean! I think it's a little anticlimactic that the other big thing that happened is just the first thing that happened but different
/not to have a similar issue with the SOTE ending but I guess that's me
At least this is our first time seeing it
I don't see it the same way them, so agree to disagree.
I do like the sort of.. idek how to express. ||The narrative concept of Arleccino? Old-school Harlequin Del Arte nonsense||
Game continues to paint Simon as the stupidest person alive
lmaooo
(Lies of P: Overture spoilers) just saw someone write ||"there it is, twink death"|| in response to the ||Lumacchio|| boss fight
i do like how we get to see like, a lot of the important characters mentioned in the basegame
||Alidoro, Medoro, The Legendary Stalker, Romeo, etc etc||
damn Nightreign fucks this shit is fun as hell
yah
Netherworld Covenant is a dark fantasy 3D isometric action roguelike centered on precision combat and Soul Companion powers to deliver a hardcore, strategically rich experience. Control the survivor of a catastrophic disaster, wielding the Nether Lantern—a forbidden artifact bridging the mortal realm and the netherworld—to forge pacts with the…

isnt part of the thing with him that like, the alchemists are making themselves less-than-human in their search for the 'Truth'?
I still haven't beaten the game 💀 but thats kinda where I felt the messaging was going
'Lying' makes you more human, but its really about the small kindness you show to others through those lies, considering their perspective and choosing to soften it for them
and the Alchemists throw this away for power
& I got the vibe the game sees this as misguided at best, and maybe a little horrific to do to yourself
You definitely want to see what happens if you go no humanity, all truth option
It's taken about an hour of punching and stabbing and I've made it 100% further in Nioh 2 than my first attempt, to the second bonfire in the first level instead of the first. Game's pretty neat.
Is there any point to punching all the red revenant graves around the levels or are they just kind of a distraction?
When I'm at a shrine it says online's turned on so I don't know how to turn online off - I'll check settings.
I do get like 9 glory per red phantom so it seems neat and also a bunch of them kill me dead so it nets out?
if you turn off online you should only get the ingame phantoms
Oh that makes sense on the death messages with the phantoms, I was thinking that was a whole lotta phantoms around the bonfires
yeah the npc phantoms are a bit more intresting as you can see names of npcs you know in various ways
and some npc friendly phantoms have special interactions
Trip report - I've made it to the first dark realm so I think I'm almost to the end of the first stage. It turns out weapons cap on familiarity to encourage you to rotate them around so that's neat.
How does item storebox stuff work in regards to consumables? Some deaths I have a lot of arrows and then I don't no more.
Anything above cap goes into storage
Then if you die it tries to top you off from storage if you're missing any
Is there any kind of in game way to tell if a move will stagger something because some do and some don't and that makes a big difference versus the axe and yokai folks
sekiro
Don't think so
Unfortunately
Yeah it's mostly been a feel thing so far and hasn't been a huge issue
a lot of them hate being hit in the face too
i actully for a while used to think rocks were a secret weakness
Yeah breaking off horns always does big ki damage
but it was just me hitting the min the head with them
That actually makes a lot of sense
Patch is out for Lies of P
feels good - enemiesin the DLC still do hefty damag,e it's just not "two shot you" anymore
Great success
excellent
Oh, yeah,. that's real nice
also
looooooooooool
Doing the first boss of the DLC
BIG S UCCESS: fully asmped Pale Knight fable art destroyed the boss and the boss sidekick
Damn
Charred Loyce Knights got hands
I dont think we can do this at this level, +10 lightning Zwei
Fume Knight i thought was very easy
Ivory King is tough as hell tho
mainly due to the charred loyce knights
Beat the first mission in Nioh 2 after about four hours and many many deaths, somehow managed to get Mezuki on the first try with axe pokes and lots of burst counters. 2/7 kodama found, will go back for them. After starting on odachi with the stance changes on heavy attack I thought the other weapons would have that too and looks like the other ones you gotta swap stances manually.
I don't really understand the anima bar in terms of what to use it for besides the burst counter so I think it'll become more apparent as I get a couple more missions in. I do like the visual cue on the ki bar on when to do the pulse.
Should I beeline the sub missions or main missions as they turn up?
Uhh
I completed lucatiel's quest yesterday
Does she still show up as an available summon for ivory King?
Only other weapon with the stance swap on attack thing is the switchglaive
[Reply to:](#1162109930472493066 message) Beat the first mission in Nioh 2 after about four hours and many many deaths, somehow managed to get…
Im a summoner soulsborne player
Id mimic tear in ed if my pc could run ed
I think I'm starting to get the hang of the Nioh 2, going back through Mission 1 for the kodama resulted in punching Gozuki and Mezuki in one go (deaths from dodging off ledges into water nonwithstanding) so it's neat to be affirmed with the trophies.
finally made it to the DLC in Lies of P
Welcome it's very pretty
is the bow actually worth upgrading?
I made use of it but might wanna hold on to see what else needs upgrades, full moonstone remains hard to come by
Still useful for distant pokes even at +3 though
brume tower
is there a way to mitigate the Curse in the tower that Maldron invades me at?
ah RIP
kinda
There's another 8 or 9 full covenant on the dlc.
I think ehhh, given there's 3 other boss weapons that are all genuinely great
(Claws, Pale Knight, and the final boss reward)
Pale Knight esp is a monster that inflicts status like it's going out of style while having immense burst damage
It's fable art can flat out do 4k damage
got Markiona down, though I had to use the summon
it's ok she did too
and this is where I realized I can't use the boss soul yet 😔
goddamn Alidoro leaving
are the new arms any good btw?
Cataclysm lives up to name
It gets a sort-of parry bonus and can knockback most enemies enough to stop 'em but otherwise mostly Blast Away
Nuke shit.
It really shines when it's fully upgraded, so you charge at range, dash dodge in and let go so it gets tshe super-charge bonus.
which shunts you back out of range, and does immense damage
combine iwth Concentratedl egion arm bonuses, and it can get really high damage
i can do 2k+ and i have neither of the Legion arm amulets on for it currently
jIt's good vs crowds too
The other legion arm is very good as well, but it's more for Big Fuckers, since the blades linger in place
you basically wanna throw a blade out to get it's damage up bonus
then constnatly supply double blades
so it'll shred down whatever's stupid enough to be in one place
Ooof, Veronique still has serious hands
I'm starting to slowly get the ninjutsu up and find the magic talismans to get magic stat going in Nioh 2, these are pretty neat having restockable buffs/throwables
I'm consdering playing soulsbornelikes in order
I played dark souls 1
so Idk what comes next
you already havent played them in order
2
cause I can't read japanese
its i think demon souls, darksouls, darksouls 2,bloodborne,salt and sancuary,ds3,nioh, the surge, code vien, nioh 2 ,the surge 2,elden ring, lies of p
Then Bloodborne, then 3
also I'm not playing legend of zelda metriodvania
wait conduit wasn't a soulslike?
conduit?
actually I can't remember what that juryrig soulslike game was
had a sequel
inshock?
juryrig is the setting
the one with the power legs?
with the powered armor suit thing yeah
yeah thats the surge
yes
Hi everyone! Today, we’re unveiling more of The Surge’s fast, technical combat system in a brand new combat trailer.
Make use of vertical and horizontal attacks, as well as strike power, to target and dismember specific limbs, so you can loot what you cut. Looting upgrades for your exo-suit is key to progressing in The Surge, and surviving...
Demon souls isn't on steam
nope gotta emulate it or play it on ps5
YOU CAN INVADE THE LOOKING GLASS KNIGHT BOSS FIGHT????
yeah
BADASS
More games need ducks and hops into active parries
Priscilla staggered me the moment I killed her (on accident) so I couldn't force quit the game in time to reset the fight so I could try to get her tail
Im upset
wonder if I should just do the main story in Lies of P a bit before continuing the DLC
so I can get boss weapons again
There's a merchant not long after you start getting the boss souls no worries
idk if that's spoiling I thought the same thing
Maybe I am dumb but
Can someone explain to me why we can kill the npcs?
Like, isn't the curse of undeath basically full immortality for everyone that is undead
Sieglind even mentions that she killed her dad lots of times before
🤷♀️
Lies of P question
do you get more iframes with the Survival Amulet tuning your dodge into a roll?
or what is the use of it
I think so
You do, the roll has more iframes
immortality, but not guaranteed soundness of mind, and our worlds are only crossing with theirs by happenstance; you could think of killing them as severing that connection
i fought that guy with summon only because it's a story thing
which is the only exception i make
So did I first time around
I wanted to do it without this time, you know? See how it went. Definitely took a good few attempts
Holy shit, Lumnmachio is way more reasonble this time around
Last time i had to turn the diffuclty down to beat him
this time i got him on my second attempt
Does darkest dungeon 1&2 belong here?
Ah, aight, thanks. Y’all have a good day then
...is there some kind of trick for Anguished Guardian, or is it just a super massive chunk of health?
also related, what's a good Technique weapon with fire damage I can make for this
finally got it down, thanks Puppet of the Future Welder Handle
nah Anguished Guardian is just a hella fight
Can just add a new crank, game is very open to that sort of thing, but motivity is probably biggest return
after trying it out a bit, Pale Knight is pretty cool
I noticed it seems to have a different heavy attack, but I can't seem to do it consistently
the speed at which you can do a charged heavy is very nice though
oh I see, it's just the follow-up after the first heavy
finally got through ds2 recently
summoning is a real challenge since benhart has to survive the fight to count for his questline
you can do it on any 3 bosses he ca nbe summoned for at least
and you can refight bosses
yeah, it's a bit tough with him and Lucatiel
parrylord it
Hey all,Version 0.20.7b is out on stable branch. This is the last planned major update before 1.0 that I plan for December 2025. Here you can find the remaining "big" things. If you are interested in the updates as they are developed, or just want to chat, check out Lost Flame's Discord serverThe update contains several major changes, ...
It has three heavies - light follow-up, neutral, heavy follow-up
Anguished guardian's Horn and hand growth can both be broken with enough damage/hits, which opens him up for a big finisher
yeah but all the bosses are either annoying to get to or really annoying to keep him alive in lmao
my only impulse control for smashing him flat is that I don't really care for the sword
prowling magus?
i will say that prowling magus actully becoming a hard fight on champions
and on sl1 it can be a bit rough as well
first bonfire side and not the second right?
its at the camp in sotfs
i think that's the first bonfire, right?
i think yeah
mm yeah not hard just kind of annoying
i just clear the route and go back and grab him
also the rolling head vs jugo
I'm not actually worried abt giant lord
literally everything else though
glass could also not be bad
at least on first run
cool trick on the stony ponies you can shoot their head off
yeah if you kill them fast enough with headshots before they fully come to life that happens
which boss is this
looking glass knight run up
if you wanted you could probally just use a greatbow and just obleriate them
you will have the best normal bow in the game at that point
also means most damage per soul spent
i conisder hunter better overall
I'd be inclined to agree but if im using a greatbow im not exactly looking to be in range of anything to get to me
oh oops my brain got mixed up
for some reason i saw twins and thoug tyou meant like
dragonrider
cause twin dragonrider fight gives you another soul
yeah tiwnheaded might oneshot them on a clean headshot
oh lmao
dragonrider greatbow is like
i mean reg bow
dr reg bow is ehh
if i want something slow I'll use the big fuckoff greatbow
actully one of the things i like to farm is the explody boys in that one dudes jail cell until they stop spawning
cause if you have a decent bow or magic you can oneshot them without them aggrowing
i also appreciate Elden ring making bows like a main entree instead of like an appetizer
in that it's possible to build around and still be way more fun than the other games
i think they're fine in 2, good bang for your buck but not thaaat fun to use
they are kinda cool in er but their stats need work
and ammo caps being so low sucks
er in general has a problem with consumables being too hard to get for their power
or being wierdly tied to a stat that doesnt have a reason to use the consumable
or using FP
i don't mind the crafting system but i definitely prefer just farming for runes for a merchant
i like it but i think it should have made the droprates a lot higher
also yeah i never used the fp consumables lmao
the only bombs i think are wort using really is fire, lightning, and holy
i would have liked something more like ER: Reforged's crafting mechanic
oh and cold for very specific cases
fire is better than lighting just cause lighting was much harder to find resources for i think
and holy just erases those big crows
i just use pots like batman and prep an assassination kit for every boss that has some elemental or status weakness
but magic was useless cause it was just worse than using a basic spell
it's a much worse alternative
i haven't really found a use for magic pots despite everything
normally, hitting it just works better
same with the other magic consumables you can have
Starlight Shards: for why are they like this
i think if they scaled on something else like arcane
it would be good
like the bell
if the bell scaled on arcane it would legit be kinda cool
or literally anything else but int
that or make it cheaper
i think the coolsest way to make the magic pots work
is make them scale on mind
and you hold them to charge them with fp
I just genuinely hate how limited they are so I never used them
Actully after saying it I love that idea now
make the magic conusmales scale off mind so you can have a lot of fp instead of magic stats
charged heavy attacking on a consumable is a wonderful concept
like the smithscript greathammer you just fucking spin around and toss it like an Olympian
even if they scaled off of mind, if I'm speccing that much into it I'd just build into and use the array of cool as fuck spells to deal magic damage
something i also appreciate are rope pots
sometimes there really is just someone right under you that you need to drop pot on
when I saw how limited they are, I thought they would be permanent at first
and you'd just get slow trickle FP
but no
yeah they are fucking weird
its a slow trickle?
for some reason i thought it was just a hidden blessing like restore
tbqh, I don't actually know how fast they are, because I never used them
but I imagined it's fairly quick
I was just saying I expected them to be slow but permanent, because there are so few of them
in previous games, the spell restore items weren't that rare
once again dark souls two throwing some herbs at me every once and a while
Souls games and consumables have a real issue with making them very limited resources... But not in a way that fits with the try, die, repeat structure
Unlike estus flasks or equivalent
i felt in ds2 and 1 (somewhat) they actully worked decently well
but then er tied them to a very limited resource and made them not strong eonugh to make up for it
ds2 took the right lessons from DeS
It really depends. Like the sawtooth cogs in lies of p, those are fun
er, unfortunately, took the wrong lessons from ds2
You can carry a reasonable number, they drop often, and they're cheap to buy
(in the specific case of restorative consumables)
But shot puts and other high power consumables would be better if they were find once, recharge at stargazers
Just to cut out the tedium of grinding them and the too precious to use mentality
and then decide what goes in it and that's replenishable
That's actually been my pitch. You have X throwables you can craft, so it's deciding what amount in what combos you want
literally
(and actually making them worth using)
do it like the flasks in DS3 and Elden Ring
Yup, exactly
you have a number of Pot Slots, whatchu want
you have a number of Throwables, whatchu want
etc.
Having to stop your attempts because you ran out of materials and need to grind is just... Dumb
its double dumb when you realize most of the time they are weaker than just using spells/weapon arts that do the same thing and the droprates aren't higyh enough
poor magic pots...
did you see my above idea for them
yeah
it's cute
make em all scale with mind and cost like
%mana
damaging based on the final count consumed
yeah
currently all those items kinda are just worse than casting a spell
but this makes them sorta like an item spell for non int users
well
some aren't
but it's just the pure phys scalers and more esoteric ones like sleep pots
the fth ones are also decent, it's just the cold and magic pots that are truly atrocious
i meant specificly the int scaling ones that use fp kinda of items
but decent doesn't cut it
if i were to fix the faith one id make it put a holy sigil that does damage over time or heal over time
no, i know, and i mean that they should all do that
make that what makes pots distinct from other throwables
they're How To Make 60 MND Good
doesn't even need to be % based, just have them all scale off your mind stat in general, so any caster build with high enough mind gets to make use of other builds' equivalents
bleed pots, rot pots, cold pots, fire pots, they all just need juice
i kinda like the healing pot idea in some w ays
Ds2 sotfs
I love invading
I love fighting hosts with bone fists
I keep losing but ill get consistent W's eventually
bone fist users want one thing and it's fucking disgusting
When you successfully dash attack someone and punt them into the lava, it's the best thing
Also, try two handing the bone fist rather than power stancing, the counter damage on it's two handed heavies is hilarious and actually very broken
i just saw the guy did a running attack and they got flung into the water and i just kept going
Esp since the first attack of the heavies is a quick interript kick into a rising punch
(way to win with none first imho is just maximize it's mix-ups. You have three different movesets and they're all pretty good, so you know)
i think the bone fist wiki page has a mention of the drop kick momentum making people fall off cliffs too
i used the halberd spinning attack at the time
Oho
one handed moveset vs two handed vs power stanced
Bone fist has a 150 counter modifier, which means it does 1.5x damage if you hit something during it's animation
This is pretty dumb, given it's crazy good scaling too, and combined with two handing it can just explode other players
Also a fun fact: most of bone fist damage comes from scaling, so it doesn't give a shit about loosing durability as that only costs you the base damage.
The power stance moveset is good for harassing with the hadaoken and flying kicks etc
I always liked having some pyromancies in my back pocket so I could suddenly switch to those and dumpster someone with a chaos fireball etc
Where do you get that again
Forgor my spell sources
Hot damn tho
I can go ham with this
