Nioh 2 is my first Nioh, so I got no context on who the big guy was besides a lesson that discretion is sometimes better than valor
I was trying a Odachi/Fists combo and it sure seemed neat
Nioh 2 is a prequel so playing Nioh wouldn't have helped
I was asking only because beating Gozuki (big bull yokai) at the start is either something you do on repeat visits with better gear or if you're a vet of the first game and know what you're doing already
You're supposed to just run past it for now
Yeah I think I got like to the first bonfire after it, leveled to 5 and got some ninjutsu, and just got busy before I could finish the level
Found the menu for Martial Arts in Nioh 3, looks like weapons are Swords, Odachi, Spears for Samurai. Ninja get Dual Ninja Swords, Talons, Kusarigama, Ninjutsu.
No Axe, which really sucks
My previous builds were Odachi and Axe based
One for humans one for yokai
Okay you have to unlock High and Low stance with points
It sounds like they have certainly made some choices with nioh 3
It's possible the low and high stances are unlocks in the previous games too and I'm forgetting, but still
Then again this is an alpha demo taking place partway through the early game so shrug
What's really annoying me is I want to gwt with this, cause experimenting and changes are necessary for a franchise to grow and evolve and stay good, but it's hard to like the Samurai/Ninja role split the way it is in this Alpha Demo. Not to mention it being an Alpha Demo is going to make almot all of my critics have an asterisk of "May Not Apply to Full Game" which is a dumb kind of frustrating.
The new open world stuff they're doing in the Nioh 3 Alpha Demo is interesting at least. No more mission select screen will take some getting used to but having secrets in the world maps is neat.
Seems like it to me
Armor skills, weight, defense
Stats are a touch different as onmyo magic seems to be based on yokai cores instead of its own skill tree right now
Nioh 3 Alpha Demo, found an open world boss, it's ||Mezuki||
LIES OF P OVERTURE IS OUT NOW. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.
I REPEAT: LIES OF P OVERTURE IS OUT NOW.
oh shit i gotta beat the game now
on a note about ds2, wow im not liking this tower shield thing i got going on i think I might switch to dex but also ohhh my god there's so many poke weapons it's really hard to choose
but also i do like seeing weapons bounce off my shield urreghhhgg
wait. i could just upgrade my armor and trade all the time
In Soulsborne fashion Lies of P DLC does ask a lategame save, so if you're like me ( foolish ) and started NG+, well
Getting back to the Nioh 3 Alpha Demo, I am starting to see the appeal of the Samurai/Ninja split, in theory. Though I'm not a huge fan of the idea of needing to track two seperat builds to swap between on the fly in combat.
blocking is still good in ds2 but something ds2 teaches you is that 100% block isnt actully that important
also upgrading shields does boost their block and stablity a little
for example my favorite shield the watchdragon parma has i think 92% block?
boosts your item find and has several resists
isnt too heavy
you can get the dranglic shield now which is also good
but its 1.5 heaver
just for 10% more block
like look at this thing
most other shields with stats this good are way later
you can get this early on in SOTFS
the few earily 100% shields uslaly are heavier and have poor lemenetal resist
this has 60 on all elements a min
yeah watchdragon is cracked out of its gourd
I've never actually bothered to use shields in DS2, but that's because I'm a sicko, not because they're bad
I also don't really use shields much anymore
Two handing is really strong in 2, since it gives you double Str instead of just 1.5
two-handing also goes hard but powerstancing is the one true path
Powerstance also good
Powerstanced maces can clobber just about anything in the base game
it's just like
i haven't done a plank and board build before
I've done strength
sorta dex maybe
faith
int
im a shield addict but i go w/ shields w/ good drip over stats in ds2
all the damage scaling stats whatever
but like
haven't done the "vigor" one
and like ds3 is nice and all but i appreciate 2 way more
2 is my favorite of the three
same
same
i just like how shields like the royal kite shield look
they do have a lot of drip in 2
they had the uhhh
design contest
so some of the shield designs were outsourced to other people who Knew What Was Up
also i am warming up to the playstyle now that I've upgraded my gear more
still have an elden ring itch to play the Guy Who Has Every Damage Type and Assassinates Enemies
but im slowly getting over it
Split damage is very good in 2
Because it has no flat damage reduction
Also you can stack buffs and infusions in 2, and it's also very strong
yeah that's what tempts me
i heard dex controls status buildup infliction
is that true?
oh yeah i heard poison bleed is scary
yeah dex affects buildup
which makes sense also since if youre doing status you want a 'faster' weapon
There is some new stuff in NG+, so you could respec too
i did uh.... poison ricard's rapier i think, w/ pyromancy to cast the poison/toxic mist spells also, it was funny
oh true
i
gotta admit i don't think I've ever done a ng+
and i forget ds2 actually adds stuff
I tend to ignore NG+ as well, so that's good info
lots of funny ng+ pranks in ds2
Though maybe I should go back and do it on my DS1 playthrough so I can use these absurd Str weapons I picked up
One very nice thing 2 also does is that in NG++ you can buy covenant rewards from Wellager
BK greatsword and demon's hammer
So you can get everything without needing to do covenant mp
Hell maybe even the Smough hammer
all but elden ring require ng+ to 100%
and ds3 does it for the dumbest reason
1 is knnights honor requires you to get to ng++ giant
ds2 is some spells skip requiresments in ng+ and ng++
WHAT
SERIOUSLY?
yeah he sells the spells you'd normally need to do covenants for
Wrath of God, Bountiful Sunlight, and Great Chaos Fireball
it does need to be actual NG++ though unfortunately
ascetics don't count
which speaking of
bonfire ascetics exist, they are quite useful
I've actually never used them
not sure when i should tbh
like yeah free souls but Where's Best
you can look online what are some good pspots
because you can turn on unlimited enemy respawns its not really useful for farming enemies
but placed items
most useful application of ascetics is if you want certain chests again
or if you want the NG+ boss souls immediately
Nioh 3 Alpha Demo, seems the farther you get the more skills th game tells you about, so it starts awkward but seems like it'll get smoother
yeah same
im not playingh for a while thought as i want something less hard before going into lies of p
Sadly it does appear short I am half done it seems, but it’s pretty solid personally I might feel depending on how long it goes. It might not be worth a $30 but considering I bought the game on a sale 30+30 is 60 so 🤷♂️ , hears to them doing ||the Wizard of oz sequel ||
i was disppointed to find out that the new diffculties are just easy very easy and normal
started my Lies of P replay
that polearm they give you now is pretty dope
Nioh 3 Alpha Demo, so turns out the game just locks some skills that help make it feel better to play behind finding them in thr world/doing story related stuff. Makes for an awkward start, hopefully they make it easier to get this stuff or have training for it at the Shrine Dojo.
I love having beef with bowman guthry because i can absolutely just flatten him with the dragon tooth and move on
Yeah the central room is pretty awful
Just open up the exit and leave tbh
Or just book it over to Smelter
trying
hard part about this tower build is that i put a lot into strength
not a lot into stamina
makes me think this is really a ng+ build
since it takes so fucking long to get online
also the slower pace means seeing six knights with katanas and greatbows pull up on me is like fuuuuuck i gotta fight them
i might play naked dual ugs
nvm
upgraded the jesters set and decided im never taking this off
Lies of P because of the DLC has entered the rare hall of games that made me cry hard as hell alongside the like of
Bioshock 1 (good ending)
Paper Mario and the thousand year door
Mass Effect 3 (the objectively worst game on my list in my opinion lol)
I'm gonna have to spend money on the full game and the DLC
the base game is half off at the moment
Holy shit the DLC is 30 bucks?!
Yeah I don’t think it worth the 30 dollars personally, but if you can get the base game on sale it might be worth it
Well right now the game and DLC on steam as a bundle is the price of the game not on sale
If only I could justify the expense right now
Playing ds2 sotfs once more
continuing my Lies of P replay
I'm on the middle difficulty, and it does feel a good bit easier than the "normal" difficulty
I also very much enjoy the Dragon Glaive as a weapon
i hate that they only added two easier modes
well tbqh, I don't really think the game needed an even harder difficulty
so I'm quite fine with it
I think it would have been nice to have both a harder and easier diffculty
even more so if it was well made
YAAAAAY
also
for the first time ever
i net aldia!
turns out the rotten has a primal bonfire that's extremely and stupidly hidden
like wow please don't make it behind shitty fire effects
note 2: they are jumping the fuck out of me in the dlc
the poison one?
the poison one is def hard but in a way i don't hate it
i don't hate it either
especially considering my strength build is finally online
its mainly those rooms with the giant doors
so im like pancaking people
the greatbow room is pretty shitty
like cmon. leave anor Londo alone
oik is
Bad
like just a bad boss fight
i really only hate the big doors
and the aesthetics are cool enough
in the tiny room
ah the indoor bit?
yaeh basicly all of them are just aweful ambushes that feel like you can't do anything
but get ambushed
i got really good at fighting him due to being stuck on him so long in my first sl1 attempt
yeahh he's just extremely boring to fight
especially considering you get jumped by an elite squadron of knights with katanas (kickass concept) the whole time
i would have loved like
looking mirror knight esque stuff where he was more vulnerable and slow but did get you boss invaded by the familiar rogues gallery
I have unlocked the copse and the bastille and have so far not died yet woo
I miss DS2's slower combat pace so much
me too
i have never once figured out how to get that stupid bonfire next to ornifex and i doubt i ever will on my own
it’s definitely a weird one, yeah
oh also the ganks are so much nicer to deal with because of the combat pace
We remember it involving a lot of jumping or falling
which the brightstone cove already has
and the tutorials are mostly not in sotfs edition too
I forgot how i did it
I think i just broke down the door maybe
Or looked for the path above
its a wierd path
even i forget how to get to it
Location of the lower Brightstone cove bonfire
what if i told you that the shine of amana doesnt really bother me anymore
same [prepping as much magic resist as possible]
oh i just got good at dodgeing the bolts and i figured out in the third section most of the enemies don't aggro if you go around the edges
so you can just use the pillars as cover to kill the mages without the holy knights in the center being aggroed
i figured this out on my enemy drops only run
i think my only gripe with it was the water
i have the patience the wade through the enemy placements I just don't like the environment it's in
I love how you can just play pranks on enemies in the uhh
post black gulch dlc
like
im just leading this ghosts into the spike pit and since they can't climb ladders they cannot get to me anymore
so this gank of like five dual wielding ghosts is becoming a more and more dangerous spike pit field trip
Conversly, i think this was a great choice. We got a story mode for folks who wanted story only, we got a "Intro you to soulslikes" mode, and we got to keep our existing diffuclty.
and for folks who want hard as balls, there's scaling NG+ diffuclties now
I don't like playing ng+ unless it drascly has new mechnics
I'm hype for New Game+ modes because a bunch of games really pop off when you have all the tools from the start, like Salt and Sanctuary
pretty much any time ive played ng+ it was because of an achvment requirement
its actully something i find really disppointing about the genre as a whole
ng+ most of the time just adds a few things and stat boosted enemies
A lotta times I wouldn't mind DLC that started you at New Game+ scaling and an appropriate level
nioh has some cool stuff but most of the stuff that is cool doesnt trigger until ng+++
The Surge 1/2 was interesting because by NG+1 the equipment capped out at rank 10 so the New Game+ 2 and beyond you just had to be good at surgin' because you were on par with the enemies
Nioh is weird because a bunch of its systems effectively don't matter until you are several NG cycles in
ds2 gank squad in shulva?
The passages all kinda suck
yeah
yeah just skip the passages
They're meant to be something you do in coop
shulva's is the least ass, though, because the gank squad is pretty easy to stagger
their movement and attack speeds are pretty different, so you can separate them and then they're just standard ds2 fat-ass npcs with their fat-ass healthbars
except less damage
...not counting dragon tooth guy
i haven't spec'd into superpoise so I'm finding that if im not staggered by havels toothy adventures those statues are staggering me
that still hits like a freight train
yeah
he also can just sprint at you? sometimes he even approaches first instead of katana man
huh
i don't think i've ever noticed that
although i'm sure it's happened before if you say that
usually i wait for one to approach because i really don't want to lessen my reaction time between a greatbow firing and me getting impaled
fair
and sometimes he just pulls up on me like okay
what's your build?
fuck me ig
pure melee?
big hammer that flattens humanoid characters
nice
you could switch around to a power stance build
hmm
not sure if i have the titanite to afford more weapon upgrades but i could try power stancing spears
something like double red iron twinblade
if you've got a spare ascetic
or single red iron twinblade if you prefer
it's a pretty good weapon single or double, and a pure str one
amana somewhere
I'm not past brightstone cove because i found out that there's a primal bonfire behind the shitty fire in the gulch
Red iron twinblade is pretty notoriously good yeah
and like
look
i know dlc is meant for a later game
but I'm stubborn and i like my open world
extremely fair
black gulch is a cakewalk, though
if you want to just...do it and grab some gubbins
rotten is a pitifully easy boss with a bonfire right next to it, so it's extremely easy to kill the first time or farm for +++++souls
gotcha
in all my time playing ds2 i never realized
there was a 2mm hole behind a bunch of fire effects
lmao
it's not in the fire seed area
oh okay you got it
mad about
lmao
It's somewhere between the third bonfire in Amana and the boss area, apparently
there's a primal bonfire behind every lord soul!!!!
gahhhh
shanalotte tells you this at the start of the game!!
i knowwww i knowww
i was looking for it too and then i gave up on my first
what
three playthroughs?
unforchies
for context my glasses prescription is extremely heavy
i might just start playing on online mode tbh
just to get some coop for the boss
the dlc passages are very deliberately meant for co-op, yeah
their gimmick even included the ability to summon people without DLC access
just to do them
I'm not sure if people even still play this game outside of uhh
lightning hex dual rapier pvp players
There's also regular events to replay the game
oh?
yeah, the DS series subreddits (incl. DeS and BB) have yearly events
where they coordinate certain times to do replays, so as to boost co-op activity
oh shit
the password features of later games help, but
even just Having A Couple Hundred Extra People is a huge blessing
dunno if anything's going on right now, but
hey, we've got dark souls players right here
that'd be happy to co-op
kickass
it's been a while since i booted up ds2, so i could help if you don't find anyone for Jolly Co-Operation
also yeah a couple hundred extra people is a huge boost
at least with what im used to
i distinctly remember being in the uhh
the castle with the soul golems
or rather the part of the castle
lmfao
yeah the central one?
with the stone spearmen and the three fucking ruin sentinel doors?
yupppp
the entire game is one big prank tbh and im here for it
i appreciate the meanness because it's actually attentive than going through the motions
and also because you can absolutely prank the game back
the cruelty is mutual
and i kept running into this one fucking guy with some username similar to the npc invader like Forlorn or some shit
he might have been a forlorn-esque roleplayer
but every time i booted the game up on different days
I'd see his ass in red and he'd rock my shit every time
safe to say i was stuck in that area for a while
since ds2 has a weird like. priority system for invasion

as much as the soulslike genre has developed
i would like more games inspired by ds2 than the more fast paced uberserious stuff
like how people made uhh
kingsfield inspired stuff
spiritual successors and all
people are rock hard for the ds3 type, but i agree
OH that reminds me to play the lunacid thing made in kingsfield 1
i want more deranged shit like Exactly One Illusory Wall In The Game
IT'S SO BULLSHIT
or the first chest/bonfire/door/whatever unhinged thing they choose you ever see is a mimic
EVERY OTHER WALL IS INTERACT
which is one of my favorite parts of ds3
i don't think so unfortunately, but i might be misremembering
the iron chest before the forest of the fallen giants right after you get out of majula
tbh my motto is to just have my corpse run done before i open any chests
that way there's a little push and pull
it kills me
i obliterate it into a pulp
all friendly stuff
Theres sometimes yeah i just do what i call "rat runs"
where i just around around grabbing stuff even i fi cant beat the enemies
yess
another thing i like
is when the game just doesn't fuck with you
like haha a button that opens a door to a dead end room with an item
i finish up all my business which takes like an hour or two
return to it like ohh noo me and my 800 souls
and then it's just a normal dead end with a corridor like ah
god this game is so fucking good
Lies of P has two new quartz levels in ng+, and they have some good shit in them
Does Lies of P still have just the one character option?
you WILL play Pinocchio yes
i love the Return To [area] yearly events, theres something really special about a bunch of sunbros suddenly popping up in DS, or getting invaded in ds3 and its not just a 10,000 hour curved sword pro
s/o to that DS1 sunbro who took out the channeller in the Undead Parish even though I was already dying. Literally did it for no reason but to make my next run easier, peak sunbro
i always love being able to leave up a summon sign on a hard boss or skillcheck-for-new-people boss
or showing people shortcuts
communicating exclusively through dark souls emotes and spins and attacking walls and shit
I love that "block repeatedly to say hi" has become a thing among souls players
Easy way to communicate that you're here to have fun
the lil shield shuffle is so funny yeah
i love to summon someone and then preload my greeting
I've started using the "By My Sword" gesture as my default greeting in ER. Giving you a lil salute
I like a nice Inner / Outer Order with a backdash right after the pose
how early is early
you can't really go wrong with the giant stone axe
but there aren't a ton of pure str boss weapons
the good ones are like, that and chariot lance
i'd rec plenty of other str weapons as well, but those are the two boss weapons that are any good imo
at least early
been using the large club
the paler one
stuck with me since i got it toooo
ivory king dlc which im doing rn
im not sure how it compares to other weapons but i find myself swapping through multiple great hammers per clearing of an area
gargoyle bident is also nice
not interesting but it's good and does respectable damage
Got past both Tyrannical Predator and the first actual ergo boss
nice!
Tyrannical was a bit of a pain, def noticed the camera issues. first ergo boss is by far the best Orn and Smoggy type i've ever seen
trying to achieve zen by not malding after losing 50k souls to some damn headless manikins in ringed city cameo peak
tis just souls, sire
you will get many many more
especially with bonfire ascetics
holy shit you can get more
and apparently in the late game there's an infinite farm for them?
I can't recall which spots I farmed to the point of things not spawning anymore but it was a strange vibe
i usually farm a lot of areas to that point
i get mad at a gank and then i target them for the twelve fifteen whatever respawns they have
and then im happy again
which ends up with me clearing the area just cuz
a wicked sort used to prowl about here...
That's fascinating
big fan of Grym Greathammer
though you'd need to run up a bit to Tseldora afaik to farm for it
its a bit faster than most other weapons in its class
yeahh
if it weren't for his crossup unblockable I'd have beaten him by now
i am a little disappointed that i haven't seen a soulslike pull some havel bs yet
as a side note to nothing
I'm powering through on NG+ because I refuse to start again for DLC tomfoolery, but also using the Two Dragons Sword for the first time and goddamn this thing is a demon
It's so satisfying to do, too
And the hypermobile R1s are just nifty
/and then Puppet Ripper in the back pocket when i don't feel like thinking too hard vs 6 dudes
oof
dodged his unblockable for the first time in attempts that spanned over a few days
I never have the weight for two weapons
that cursed polevault-y one
but I also always use the heaviest armor parts I can
also Weight Limit +1 Talisman helps a ton with that
instantly clicked onto the rhythm only to die to the fire combo
horf
this game can be so feast or famine with the defenses
some enemy combos just hurt so damn much
his sans eye move that crosses you up
basically every other move i can get down but without the red flash for the unblockable it's giving me a tough time
the fire combo is usually what murders me
Those have dodge I frames, just for extra bollocks
Remember you can space his attacks too. What legion arm are you using?
I found Deus Ex Machina is great to fuck with him. Get mined on, idiot
Puppet string is also really good
using string yeah
(it remains a tragic missed opportunity they never let you upgrade the arm of steel so you can just go I Cast Punch
i guess i can try running away just to bait out the moves im not used to or his pitiful combos when im at range
it really is
Other things: remember to use electric abrasive+ grindstone, that's a 25% more damage right there
might need a grocery run on those
Malum district has a merchant right by the stargazer that sells them for cheap
Also, bonecutting sawblade + handle of choice (Dancers curved/bramble curved are my favorites) is an amazing weapon that works great with technique, quality or motivity
It's what I used to destroy the true final boss the first time I met him
oh nice
might look at that then
oh that's in the malum district
how'd i miss that?
I've been looking for a greatsword handle for a while now
Other things with King of puppets is just remember you have Items and they're really good in this game
It's amazing how much more cooperative a boss is after getting a shotput to the face
If that fails, give em another two.
It's more the number of weapons dedicated to it is somewhat limited
And it's very item intensive
But it's pay off it's incredible damage potential
It has some of the best offensive legion arms, and really powerful items. Plus it's weapons can be immensely strong when they get going
Dlc adds even more advance weapons
It's not my taste, personally, but I wouldn't sleep on it either
Even without investment, the elemental throwables are very strong
advnace's main problem is just selection
Some investment in Advance is worth it imo, the scaling for those that do is real solid
Level 3 Fulminis charge is a firm answer to puppet nonsense
for legion arms, I'm a huge fan of the Electric one
a tap on it and it creates a hitbox faster than pretty much any weapon I'd carry, great for interrupting quick enemies
and ofc the charged one just hurts
Lies of P dlc optional boss spoilers of maybe 3rd area
Oh you cheeky with ||premetamorphic green hunter|| I see I see

also ||La Vendetta|| has been a very fun weapon
Chunky bonker that turns into ||EXPLOSIONS|| with fable art
I havent played with it much, but my udnerstnading is it gets stornger from Perfect Guards?
As far as I understand it's both regular and perfect guard (maybe more charge on perfect). Then it's all released on heavy (not sure if it needs to be charged, I mostly do charged ones)
Fable art on the blade makes it function like it always has max charge for a while + regular hits also get the effect
do tell what you think about the weapon from it
OIh, i have been looking foward to that weapon
I 110% will say i'm glad they;'re looking at the damage
i';m on NG, have all the best possible gear for my level
and the amount of damage eeven blocked hits do is insane
A'right yeah NG+ damage is hhwaaaaay overtuned
Lies of P dlc or base game? Or something else entirely
Lies of P DLC, it's wild
Even in base ng, the dlc damage is crazy. I'm in basically the best defensive gear you can get in ng, and still get chunks ripped out of me even when guarding
Things are also just absolute tanks
I don't want to be dragged into one of those horrid Puppet Axe builds but goddamn it takes a while to whittle some of these down
I didn't find the HP too bad, but I've been using seven coil
I have 40 Vit and the talisman that gives HP/Stam/Legion, if that first boss grabbed me, I was dead no matter what
Mostly when stuff has felt too tanky it's because the damage they do means you can't trade hits, etc
First boss = tyrannical predator?
He was a right git, but not one shot with the grab on ng
also I will never look at elephants the same way again after this dlc
||especially the second one, arrrgh||
||'this seems to have a bit more HP than the last on- oh, ohh'||
But hey, Cataclysm! That thing rocks
Did instantly run out to turn all my advance into Motivity (mostly an Advance type but have side stat)
the scaling with the Triumverate Amulet is solid
It took me a while to get the rythm of how to use it, but it's monster strong when you do get it down
Dash in to perfect release and multiple mooks just die
Also so many enemies slide six miles forward with every animation sometimes it looks so so bad lmao
it's pretty fucking bad
some of the normal bigger enemies are doing as much or more damage than the final boss did
same
they desperately need to have them not do that much damage
also just defeated ||Markiona||
mfw i just throw shit and i win
||Lesbians, in my Puppetgame..||
Cool boss but I don't know how I feel about all this Mystical Orb Business
Omg did not know this thread existed
yeah same
also new favourite handle
the ||lorenzini bolt|| handle...
my beloved
Also wait where the hell do we take this Ergo now :|a
?
the running attack.. never had I ever
i put the spear of honor head on it and now i have mega range
wow the ||deaths talons|| seem SUPER fun
gods i wish they would stop making level up materials so limited in these games
i sorta get why but it never stops sucking
wait you need to redo the BRB fight again, fucksake i forgot how much i want to beat 'Alidoro' with hammers
it's so much worse for the boss weapons since the upgrade materials are even more limited for them and you can't upgrade them past +3
brb fight?
Blackrabbit
Non unlimited upgrade materials does suck yeah
Alidoro isn't in the Hotel after the attack
ahhhh
Until after you beat the next chapter boss
So you unlock the DLC
and then can't buy weapons
until you unrelatedly go to that
i have access already
having beaten the final boss already won't limit me in some way will it?
i hope not
Probably not
great success
also let me fucking buy the dark moon moonstone of the covenant
i beg
it's so ass to have to farm it out every time i wanna try a new weapon
Yeahhh
i will never not think that it is bad design, let me try everything
there is literally no downside to doing so
Well this killed my motivation for at least right now so good luck with progress o7
this is a singleplayer game
Ohhh there's a DLC merchant ok ok OK
I was truly like 'why would they do it like this'
Ah, nice
Now.. will there be one that sells high end upgrades >:|c
need to get like 6 dark moon moonstone of the covenant ughhhhh
yeah
going to farm that one shovel guy in the swamp for it since that's the easiest one to do
one million ergo later
oh perfect parry grindstone, you are my favorite answer to chaotic flailing
the noise of it
used my non-renewable upgrade materials on the bow and the final boss weapon and i low-key regret it
but at the same time there was no way for me to know i was getting a bunch of cool shit later either
I did the same but NG+ helping with that at least
Bow's nifty but Simon's Bowblade it is not
yeah
def regret max upgrading it
saw it, went "holy shit ranged weapon" and kinda just sent it
You'll be happy later when there's a pit of four apes you don't have to jump into
( but yeah )
yeah i got decent use out of it already
glad it goes farther than Falcon Eyes if you charge up
That thing detonating 15 feet out always makes me pouty
also something for all the barrels and weird goo-pods that isn't a hundred dollar Throwing Gear
huh
so these enemies can drop Ergo Crystal of the Eternal
wild
got another one
25k a pop
not even remotely particularly useful to me
Oh sweet I learned in ds1 you can throw firebombs at the Capra demon over top of the boss wall
Never fighting that guy again
This Torch Juggling Puppet must have had at least like 70k HP, fucksake, I don't think any of the devs tried the DLC in a NG+ cycle
This took longer than the last boss, like
yeah it's actually crazy how overtuned shit is
just dont die to the dogs immediately after LOL
ok yeah that fucking juggling puppet has absurd hp
jfc
they cannot possibly have playtested this
it's genuinely absurd
i do have saves that are post swamp if yall want them
post swamp files for ng if you want them
I just assume they did playtest it, but with really good players lol
idk
the damage is just obscenely overtuned
one of the first enemies i met in the dlc did ostensibly more damage than the final boss did on most of its attacks
the enemies are harder as well but most of the big enemies like, 2-shot me, and i actually leveled vitality for the dlc specifically to have a more fun time
Spoielrs for lies of p below
this is all the backup saves i have
if you want one for a maybe better dlc expeince just ask
DLC has been a romp so far ('side from the numbers being a bit high) I will say though Area 2 isn't quite as charming as Area 1
Or izzis the third one..
||The Resident Evil Villainy Science Dungeon||
Also reintroduces 'hallways too small to swing your weapon in' the least fun Souls mechanic of all time
yeah
it
it's been shit since base game
it's why i always keep a small poking stick on me
the new arm, Cataclysm, has been a godsend
Damn, New Folder (2)?
The names of bosses really picking up in 2025
Fox btw
What do you think is the worst soulslike game?
mortal shell or lords of the fallen
storywise I've heard its surge 2
but the gameplay in that one is a direct upgrade to the surge 1 and pretty ok overall
mechanically yeah maybe mortal shell for ones people have heard about
id say the story is better in 2
The writers of the Surge 2 were different from the Surge 1 so it was less directly skewering corporate culture and more skewering martial law kinda situations and it was a straightforward enough postapocalypse kinda situation
mortal shell has a mechinc where you need to wait 30 min for health mushrooms to respawn
so if you run out you gotta go afk
and lords of the fallen just feels bad
( mortal shell also feels bad, critically )
that is a ROUGH ONE
the sequel is an earnest surprise
holy fucking shit
dlc weapons are COOKING
just got ||puppet of the Futures welder blade||
jfc
definitely not the light attack I'd expected
also that particular part of the zone is truly an audio nightmare
ugh, died to some big brute enemy cause my weapon refused to block when i press the button, love to see it
damn, mistimed a jump and fell right into the frigid abyss
cool boss
tough as nails tho
o7 for ||Veronique||
had to throw everything i had at her to win the fight
||IT'S ALIDORO, THE REAL ONE||
also holy fuck (lies of p: overture story spoilers)
that sure is something REALLY fucking important innit
not entirely sure what to do with the ||puppet of the future's welder|| handle
trying out the blade with the ||Lorenzini bolt|| handle tho
some absurd shit going on in the weapon crafting scene
it has a truly ridiculous attack range
gods i love the weapon crafting system so much
genuinely never really fw the boss weapons purely based on how much fun it is to just put weapons together
I haven't found a combo that's grabbed me recently
Booster Glaive'd too much to want to Bolt Handle
i've definitely fallen in love with it
also the welder handle is fucking hilarious with the spear of honor blade
I don't have many Stabby Things leveled, I have Swingy Things. Though Rocket Hammer could be kind of hilarious
i've got a few things set up since i'm on ng+
found another weapon, ||La Vendetta||
going to see what imma do with it at the hotel
ok so ||La Vendetta spins the blade when you use the heavy, so combining it with the maniacs pinwheel blade which spins also leads to some insane things happening||
putting the ||La Vendetta|| blade on the booster glaive handle tho
1.6k damage per charged heavy is
exceptionally nice
does kinda need the fable power up
but that's not too big of a downside
bow earned its rep
just cheesed a miniboss with it
great success
yeah holy shit these bosses are so tanky
love getting killed in one hit at almost max hp with 50 vit
watching folks play on regular NG cycle and considering Awakened Puppet to see if it balances out lmao
It's like Hell or Hell mode in DMC3, it's such a jump
is it flat out not letting you pop the cracked eye? I never rly fucked w the invasion system but I think that if there's no one in your like. Soul Range then you get a dud
made a new funny knife
call this one the bee rocket
(Lies of P: Overture weapon part spoilers)
enter hidden path
walk
ground breaks beneath me
time for fight
die instantly to the fall damage of falling after the ground broke
great success
I'm getting the vibe that the dlc is harder than reasonable
i survived the second time i jumped down because you're not supposed to die from the fall
but that was just
bruh
actually just bruh
i genuinely cannot fucking believe they made ||the worst boss in base game EVEN MORE annoying in the dlc||
it genuinely BOGGLES the mind
literally nobody liked that why did you make it worse
ok i've created the actual mythological mjolnir with this weapon combo damn
the dlc really did hit the spot with sick ass weapons
oh i see
I wouldn't go that far, by the damage is definitely tuned poorly.
It's basically created a do perfectly or else situation
ds2 sotfs
an invader gave me a royal soldier ring+2 and a lightning broken straight sword+10
Probably saw me keep trying to smack em with my slow af zwei and went like "go use something pvp compatible dammit"
Sometimes invaders are just chill
I was co-oping with my partner a while back in ER and we got an invader who just chilled with us for a while and then dropped an albinauric mask and left
Lies of P Overture: ||Mining Machine miniboss. Lol. Lmao, Truly. The main boss designers and the rest of the team feel like they're on different planets||
The fact they brought back ||the green swamp monster|| is an all timer decision
||DS2 Smelter Demon and Blue Smelter Demon, rearing their horrible heads||
Yeah lmao
I'm genuinely really impressed with the weapons tho
They're like, my favourite part so far
The weapon system prolly is my favourite feature of Lies of P it's so peak
They added a lot of really unique craftable weapons with the dlc which was such a good choice
The miniboss has a weakness that's pretty obivous if you think about it
makes the fight much easier
||Get behidnd it and break it's fuel tank||
Now, the miniboss in act 4 of the dlc? ||Lummachio|| I had to fucking turn down the diffuclty for that. it was just not fun
that doesn't make it exciting or fun, ||The Wall AC6 already done did this with more functionality||
Okay? I didnt argue it made it exicting or fun, and i havent played AC6
I just siad hey, there's this weakness
Going to play more when i get home
Going to try using the new combos i nade with the ||Arche sword||
rrgggh
i gotta beat the game on standard difficulty before I'll allow myself to go easier
wait the dlc is pre uhh
oh nvm
Chapter 9
DLC is post chapter 9
Yeah
I'm on my ng+ file since i have like 20 different weapons upgraded and a bunch of p-organ shit sorted but yeah you just need to get post chap 9 for access
don't play yhe dlc on ng+ from what ive seen so far
i was wondering about it until i realized
i dont have it
I'm just glad i decided to upgrade vitality for the dlc
I did the whole basegame including all of ng+ without upgrading it once and ngl i think the first enemy in the DLC would have one-shot me
`There's def some frustration where at 30 vit it feels a bit pointelss to upgrade itm ore, vs geting more damage ot make fights shorter. given just how high the damage is
(from enemies)
Mhm
meanwhile in the dlc: SUDDENLY ||ZAMTRIOS?!||
Lies of P dlc beaten
||wow fuck that last boss both for gameplay and in general||
was on NG+
Ran through most of it with ||La Vendetta|| tried ||gunblade|| for a bit but kind of didn't felt it
Interesting
I've enjoyed every major boss so far but haven't gotten to ol'lasty
Do enjoy this aesthetic more than ||Wet Dungeon and Wet Cave|| but the opener remains fave for that
okay if I'm doing a second run
what stats should you build to have a good time with DLC weapons
with free respecs it doenst really matter
With NG+ i had both motivity and technique past the cap so that was nice
Though there are some advance weapons as well
Same
Electric weapons get mega rep in the dlc ngl
Are you on ng?
Yes
Aaand, Andreus dead
(Lies of P: Overture spoilers)||Nah bruh they gotta make me fight anothe ergo-god experiment 😭 ||
guess i'm going to be stuck here for a while fighting the ||Anguished Guardian of the ruins||
ok might have a good weapon situation going actually
this boss has so much hp holy
gotta get back to the Hotel IIRC
yeah
You actually have to enter act 10, go down the elevator and everything too trigger it
your gonna speedthoug it faster in a replay
i think ive beaten darksouls 1 in 6 hours
Final DLC boss down
That was much,. much easier than some of the miniobosses,
thogu hithink respecing and cleaning up my build has helped a lot
Time to see how the last act of the main game holds up XD
I suspect i am going to murk the hsit out of it
i hit fume knight a good bit and he kind of just fell over
is there something that im missing that people were complaining about him for?
like he is just a third smelter demon basically, but that's really my only issue
He's easy to fuck up if you dont disarm the shit around his arena
oh yeah the fire things
a real;ly funny trick is that there's ap iece of equipment htatm akes him autoenter his second phase
so you can skip the first and just have to deal with one, arguably easier moveset
here's my biiiiiiiiig sword and im gonna swing it realllllllllyyyyy slowllllyyyyy
watch outttttt
It's always ufnny what people find hard
Like everoyne HATES green swamp monster in Lies of P
... ithink it's a really iun fight
conversly, Scrapped watchman kicks my teeth in
||'the' big Ice Tiger||
I'm always a little surprised to hear this
there's like three mist walls
I didnt know it was a semi-common experience with that boss
it really does put difficulty into perspective
It's his timing! I dunno why, his timing fucks with me
i had like no trouble with watchman, but i also was not perfect blocking
||Romeo|| and the ||1st BRB fight|| took me a while
It's why, even though i'm a fiend for hard stuff - like i am infamous in the hElldivers thread, i hate playing on anything that isnt d10 because it's boring to me.
But anyway - I'm a big advocate for diffuclt options, accesibltiy options etc
but like. fuoco was like irritatingly slow
and I also ||never made it to Laxasia or past that||, but everything else was a bit easier
Oh, man, lemme show you the recording i have of the 2nd ||BRB fight|| I get a hilarious kill using puppet string + Proof of humanity
ahh i never got into the second helldivers
probably for a pc i don't have
also that reminds me
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2246342393
This isnt like super clean or anything
but
i really should get back into frontier defense when i have the time
what a good mode
Fucking Battle Maniac just running in and getting destoryed always sends me
"Ah, yes, the puppet is launching into the air of my sister, PERFECT TIME TO GET STUCK-" dies
I dont think i want to subject myself to Kirin Hell buckaroo
but its the coolest place to be
(Overture) Still wild to me we don't get ||Veronique's|| weapon but I guess there's enough.. related-ish stuff
Hoenstly,. the weapons-from-ergo def has a few misses even in the base game
it's olne of the thingsi 'd call out as a genral flaw
Like, my wishlist for Lies of Oz would be:
- Fable drains out of combat, but builds up much faster in combat, so there's actually a push-pull rythm to using it.
- Offensive consumables (Grindstones, shotputs, etc, anything that isnt the throwing cogs but does damage) are harder to find, but once you have them, they're permanent -carry X amount with you, they refill at stargazers. Just because items are so good to use in this game, and it sucks you have to grind for them. (I keep being tempted to use a trainer just to give me unlimited amounts so i don't have to grind, which is... blegh)
- Boss weapons should actually.... be bosses's weapons! Lots of cool boss special weapons we get, but most of the time they have little to do with the boss - or the movesets are incomplete.
- Cube needs to be a sacred tear style thing, that you can build into. None of this having to buy consumables for it.
- Take another look at the quartz system, make it more distinct with builds. Stuff like "When discharged" could use a ramping system so it's less of an on/off switch. Give players more control over the number of Pulse Cells (half the reason it gets done in as a build is you... keep getting extra pulse cells force on you, which sucks!). Maybe expose the numbers of stuff like "Enchances stagger" etc, so it's a bit more understanble how much bonus you're getting
- lean into weapon destruction more. Both for enemies AND players. Make it more of a choice to build around and go for. Things like being able to swtich blades on the same handle mid combat, or the ilk, there's a lot of ways they could play off this.
Still, such a good game
eh the drain out of combat was annoying in the surge
the surge 2 remedies this a bit by making it where you can precharge stuff
but in the first game this just meant the expensive ablties were not wort husing
and even in the 2nd this was partly the case
That sounds more like a tuning issue, imho.
i just don't think it was enjoyable in either one even after being tuned a bit bietter in 2
theres also the issue of it renders it near useless in anything not a boss fight
Hmm. Maybe. At the very least, it should just refill wehn you rest at a stargazer then. Or always start at em,pty. right now is the worst of both worlds imho
if you get the p organ upgrade that lets you get fable on pulse cell you can charge it beofre any boss to full
by resting using all your cells and resting again
you also can retrive your fable energy if you die
its dropped but not lost on death
you need to beat the tiger
it is possible but not fun to kill the tiger while its still invisable
yeah thinking about it you can just kill the tiger while its invisable then go strigaht to ivory king
if your good its the shortest dlc
thats actully what the all bosse speedrun does
kills invisable alva then does the main boss
I know dude, i've cleard the game multiple times. I still find it's execution to be frustrating even with those work arounds
beat the tiger
hopefully it stops snowing soon
though i will say this is much more bearable than elden ring's take on snow biomes
for now
I just killed a boss in Lies of P in the tradtional manner
shotput to the head from across the room
go talk to the lady further ahead
ah
btw
have you been invaded by Holy Knight Aurheim yet
hes fucking hilarious
yes, i was waiting for him but never got to fight him so i left lmao
want a spoiler
*do
sure
||"holy" knight Aurheim is disguised as a barrel and will backstab you when you try to open one of the chests upstairs||
LMAO that's hilarious
i really do think ds2 npc invaders are truly the most inspired use of its system and it's a damn shame I don't see it anywhere else
Maldron for example
since im playing the dlcs out of order my first encounter with him is in eleu loyce
and what a bastard (affectionate) he is there
Great success
Are you doing all bosses in ds2
Cause the snow DLC has one i'd rec just skipping if not
uhh
I'm not doing all bosses per se but i am trying to see as much as i missed since i played ds2 a bunch before i gained sentience
and this is also my first time playing with controller controls instead of mouse and keyboard
Ok well then you can skip the one in Frigid outskirts
Once you find Frigid outskirts you can turn back and leave
I mean you don't have to but i can't rec doing it
Something like that
ah
You get nothing of value
i may test my hand a few times. strength builds are stupid strong
And it has the worst runback in any souls game that i've seen
The boss isn't that hard
Getting there is just fucking obnoxious
It's just generally not worth it imo
ah
runback as in boss run and not as in rematch
i might skip it then
or come back and fight enemies when i need souls
Woe, cranial damage be upon thee
Yes
Like, the boss is objectively easy
were you on ng or ng+?
But getting to the boss is hellish
i do really like the idea of permanent consumables and am thankful whenever they're implemented. i understand why they may have them be drops/shop items with larger & generally static carry capacity but it's just tedious, to me at least
boss difficulty ain't even the boss lmao
Yup
I did it cause i want to beat every boss but it omega sucked
Unless you are going for personal objective boss completion i would never recommend trying it
got it 👍 frigid outskirts, dip
maybe it's the slower pace of combat but I'm pretty content with the difficulty ramp up of the dlc in ds2 compared to other titles
i might change opinions with a different build since this one pancakes any enemies that isn't build like the gulch giants
Ng. And happily used the summon. 2 shot it
Compared to like an hour+ be that snail fucker
Umbrella idiot. The miniboss who's got asteriom's va. ||Lumachio||
I've been getting stomped
WAIT HE DOES
