I've been using the 19% equip load talisman
for bosses
it's in my flex slot
ooooh

that sword is so cool
+0.33 Physical Defense per level from 1 to 30 Strength
+0.5 Physical Defense per level from 31 to 40 Strength
+0.75 Physical Defense per level from 41 to 60 Strength
+0.25 Physical Defense per level from 61 to 99 Strength

oh wait no
I'm using the +2 physical defense talisman
and coping with 50.4 equip load
but honestly it's not bad
What are your other talismans?
golden scarab
(I can probably just switch that on at the end if it really comes down to needing an extra slot)
those two are always equipped
(Yes, that's what i do, honestly)
But leaving it on all the time is fine for general roaming
then 20% more estus heal
and my flex slot, which is currently +2 phys resist (idk if that helps at all in p2)
gosh dang

Irithyll Straight Sword is good
So my math may be slightly off
Well, 13 int is really nice for Discus and Sacred Blade
but it's up to you
i really like having acess to those, perosnally
that leaves me at 11 + 5 int for ruins greatsword/Radahn's swords if i ever want to use them
oh I've never tried those
and I can definitely drop mind back down too
but (0.33x30)+(0.5x10)+(0.75x20)+(0.25x20) should be 34.9 actually
this is the classic first run, level off of vibes build 😭
It's okay!
at least I know a bit more than when I played ds3 for the first time
The stat system in Elden Ring
is well
I'm gonna be honest
it's dumb
and i like the system overall and has a bunch of things i think it does well
I put points into faith so I could use the heal chime 💀 💀
even now my ds3 build has random 28 int, not worth it for MLGS, i'll respec
( @untold tendon is hissing at me)
:3
but the way the stat curves are handled
etc
is nottally not inutive
and and penalzies not having out of game knoweldge
i never thought baout how its probally not puting as much str if your twohanding
😔
even thought i already know that it just slipped my mind
alright time to be responsible and Do Stuff
and it takes until you are past 60 strength for them to start falling off
then later I'll go mess around and smack maliketh
and even then, at high stat levels, any AR you can get is often very worth
esp if your build is focused on 'I HIT WITH BIG STICK"
I guess it's worth to respec I am a huge hoarder and the only reason I respecced in ds3 is because my build was ass, and also it's free
It's nto free! you can only do it 5 times per NG!
for no stated reason!
Elden ring is much more generous, it's something like 20+ times iwth the dlc
if you respec and alt-f4 the game, it'll save the respec without using the tongue or the respec limit
er that is, confirm the respec but do not close rosaria's menu
then force close it
it'll yell at you about closing the game properly, but it saves (I backup just in case anyways
)
That is Very Silly
it is!
Anyway, i hope all my commetnary was bighelpful!
i probably will snag it
i don't think i have any leyndell quests to progress
so I'm gonna go beat up maliketh
then check out the sewers or the consecrated snowfield
mohg can wait
and then I'll head into shadow land
👀
i wonder if it'd be worth it to bump my build up to 60 strength
i stopped at 54 bc i'm two-handing everything
but a little extra physical defense isn't bad
You still get a good chunk of AR
Heavy Night rider glaive is 721 @ 54, and 771 at 80.
50 AR difference
Two handing also has better MVs usually, so that goes even further
So, in summary: I would be going all the way to 80 str myself, but it really depends on your build, and what you're doing, and what you're other stat demands are
I mean, not much? I've been leveling Dex just because I don't really know what else to do
I've already got 60 Vigor, and I'm at something like 25 Mind and 40 Endurance
There's an argument for leveling Faith since I'm maining the Death Knight Longhaft Axe, but the problem is that I like to swap around, and a lot of my other weapons wouldn't benefit
And I'm not really interested in casting beyond basic utility incantations
I would absolutely dump dex in that case. The longhaft axe gets a respectable .54 fth scaling, and a .99 str scaling.
So get 80 strength, because going Heavy all your weapons well benefit.
Additionally if you're using Faith you can press this further by having Electric Weapon as a utility spell, letting you add extra damage to your buffable weapons. Do note that weapon buffs only scale with the faith portion of your incant scaling, so Clawmark is functionally useless.
And there's stuff like Heal From Afar, which is excellent utility.
yeah i dropped clawmark because of that
Clawmark is fine if you're not using buffs, but like, one of the big appeals of Heavy etc infusions is that they are buffable
Shit, I get an extra 211 Lighting damage on my Keen milady right now
it really should just be stright spell edjust and nothing else
If it's a heal or buff, it's faith incant scaling only. If it has a status attached, it scales with your arcane... But only if your seal has arcane scaling attached.
Otherwise it does just work off spelladjust
yeah thats really silly to keep track of
Same rules for sorceries, just replace faith with int
I agree it's silly, though I don't find it hard to track
OMG
GODFREY IS HOARAH LOUX?????
i only knew the names and bits of the fights
well the p2
i had never seen non-piss godfrey in his arena
i could've sworn that was established relatively early
huh
HOrah Loux is broguht up super early
thought the opening cutscene said something about his exile
and it's made clear he's a Big Deal Tarnished
guess it didn't mention godfrey
Yeah, you only know him by Hoarah Loux there.
And one of the mystersys for obersvant players is wait, every other big name tanrished, we meet.
where's Hoarah?
and then WHAM
Have fun, it’s a cool fight
it is really really
fun
i just don't know how to dodge the huge scorched earth aoes
yeah Godfrey is a baller
(I'll figure it out)
luna why am i getting churned
his spd does 75%
it's not fair
😔
then i get mixed and hit with the jinrai overhead
that was such a cool cutscene

but yeah my friend was like "this is kinda like zangief"
😭
holy moly
even after slowly catching spoilers after the game being out for so long and being so popular (including seeing the hoarah loux boss fight), I'm amazed that this twist still got me
yeah I've been jumping the aoes
just not the huge fire ones, maybe i jump back and then run
but dw I'll try to figure it out myself first
I like dude fights
okay so like
basically, you gotta roll all the way to his opposite side when he's tryna grab you, and jump the AoEs
in general you always hop over attacks that present as waves or tremors carried along the ground
I am not convinced that this isn't literally you
also sometimes you can jump over regular ass attacks that kinda veer low and try to take out your knees
jumping in Elden Ring is a low crush, proper
you have a surprising number of lower body invuln frames
the brainrot establishes a hivemind
i was gonna ask for streets matches but I'm probably gonna stream the end of the game for my friends instead
Did you beat Hoarah Loux
nah not yet
godrick
rennala
radahn
morgott
rykard
just the first 5 yeah
then 4 more shardbearers
miquella is somewhere idk
i got to mohgwyn palace but didn't do anything
can't kill Ranni but did you find Mohg, Malenia or Miquella yet
ranni no great rune
at consecrated snowfield rn
only got the first grace before i went to fire giant
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zdbqTHtnr4
@sour grail
Sekiro fans will have already gotten accustomed to thinking of the jump as a defensive tool.
Song used: Limgrave - Elden Ring OST
It's wild
yeah jumping is absurdly safe
the anti-streets
you ain't that close to ending the game then
or like
idk
yeye i have those 2
it's all screwy now with the DLC
but i just mean final boss
which I presume you're also intending to do?
otherwise it's just gonna be really easy and kind of an anticlimax
hmm
but aren't I only 2 bosses away anyways
not sure how much of a difference it'll make in my power level
I'll do godfrey then sewers i guess
idk do as thou wilt and all but like
There won’t be much of a difference tbh
yeah
do it in whatever order, I just personally always conceived of the game as, like
the main game and then the secret areas / postgame bosses (Mohg, Malenia) and THEN the DLC
I mean they’re at Godfrey
yeah this is just me revealing my brainrot ig
I think of Elden Ring as done when every demigod is 6ft under
oh yeah when i say ending i just mean elden beast
then maybe I'll hop on gief and smack peeps
but it'll also be like midnight so that might be a bad idea
🥳

oh
there's the voices for the dlc people
i had to look away
😭
thankfully i didn't see too many names
oh shit
they really intend for you to become Elden Lord after the DLC
that's crazy lmao
he got Divine Old Man Disease
noooo
final stats
not a clean 600k cuz i upgraded the MLGS by 2 levels before the screenshot
hmmm
tree
i wonder how i get there
you're directed to it a few times
i see
i haven't actually explored the snowfield much yet
so maybe it's pretty obvious
but that's for another day
😌
gonna go to bed, that was a good ending
godfrey and radagon were great Dude Fights
they are, honestly
very... soulslike ( 🥁 )
something that I was sorely missing during dragon and giant feet poking hours
peak Named Guy That Whips Your Ass bosses tbh
nod
elden beast was also pretty readable and fair
easy to hit with an UGS unlike astel
and I come out to 428 deaths on my counter

not bad
i'm still reeling from that plot twist lmao
which one
godfrey
very funny
even though i didn't know much lore
just that hoarah loux was his p2
also don't know who radagon is 😕
but marika in the opening is in the same position he was in
and I also thought that it was marika hanging from the rune arc thing at the beginning of the cutscene
Radagon annoys me in that i wish he wanst part of a 2 phase fight liek that
because he's such a great fight
and he has so little hp because of two phaseyness
😔
Radagon is Marika.
which is confusing becuase Radagon is also Marika's second husbandoo and Elden Lord
???
It makes slightly more sense now
yeah watching the opening cutscene it switches from marika to radagon bonking the ELDEN RING
This is literally something there's been years of arugment over
but before we knew Certain Things thanks to the DLC, frankly, no one knew
but whattt
😟
okay
Yep, it's literally marika breaking the ring and then Radagon trying to fxi the ring
Radagon is the second Elden Lord
is this dlc stuff
anyways, basically
to settle the war with the Carians he said "okay I'll marry Rennala"
"this is a huge L for me, I'm really falling on my sword marrying an 8ft tall woman who's the best in the entire world at magic"
and the whole thing was wrapped up
they had 3 kids, and then for reasons unclear Marika was like "okay boo that's fun and all but divorce her, come back to Leyndell, you're going to be the second Elden Lord"
and the three children of Radagon and Marika therefore became Demigods by marriage, please ignore the fact that they are also biologically Demigods with the fantastic powers that implies

and then they were all gigachad wizards
ranni is the least ostentatious on raw sorcery, but her signature is the highest-int spell in the game, and she's broadly uh
well, ranni
don't fuck with ranni the witch
rykard reinvented an entire branch of sorcery and/or retooled a branch of magic into sorcery
and radahn decided to be the most ridiculous gravity mage the world's ever seen
@sour grail getting into the Haligtree is a little bit of a pain, would you like hint(s)?
But my wife :(
elden ring lore is fucking stupid and i love it
i love the implied sitcom-esque shenanigans from the fact that there was a period of time where Radagon was king-consort in Liurnia while Marika was queen in Leyndell
i'm assuming that this either involved copious use of teleportation magic or a large number of elaborately contrived cover stories
possibly both
Something I do enjoy about the lore is that, pre-Shattering, the demigods did seem to get along as a functional family
that's all thanks to George RR Martin, who wrote all the preshattering lore
one of his favorite characters was rykard
He let a giant snake eat him
(kinky)
idk how he built a castle on top of a damn volcano
not just on top but like around
'well we have to have the enormous modular torture bridge, it fits the space so perfectly'
Pontiff muy dead
Ayy, nice, guy's a jerk
bleghh
yeah i saw that in the intro
so confused
It wasn't giant when he did it
Anri has achieved malewife status

lol
hmm
irithyll straight sword, chaos lothric knight sword, or anri's straight sword...
Aldrich is easily the most annoying boss I have ever seen
its really stupid when it goes into the walls and you just can't hit it
i modded elden ring (not severely just some extra weapons and a couple texture changes) and one of the weapons is a combo sorcery catalyst and colossal sword. i will be doing my best to get it and slay the god-beast guarding lady Ranni's path to becoming Elden Lord with it. wish me luck, folks.
I also beat dancer like 20 minutes ago whoops lol
MOONLIGHT GREATSWORD TIME
My True Mentor
its such a hype reveal when it happens, though
(with the dlc stuff ||I'm real glad we have Trina to underline how Marika / Radagon probably works||. Helps clear up quite a bit.)
||i mean, the shaman thing combined with every other piece of radagon-related information means that doesn't clear anything up||
imo the other big twist isn't just that Radagon's Marika, but also that both literally are the Elden Ring.
Their actions can also be read as trying to shatter / fix themselves
LOOK
||since there are repeated and explicit examples of marika's people physically melding with other people||
fromsoft moment
||and radagon is constantly referred to as having deep and confusing ties to Giants and the Misbegotten||
||i still think radagon was his own person before yeah cause giants||
||so if anything, it's cleared up but not by Saint Trina||
||my take is its honestly less important 'why' Radagon exists than how their relationship looked like - which Saint Trina really helps underline, as a cast off and incomplete part of Miquella who's nevertheless tied to him.||
||and instead by the entirely separate explicit power of Marika and her people||
||id argue why he exists is very important to the whole marika and raddgon combining as it completely changes the context||
||I think I'm on team 'started a fragment of Marika' over his own guy. Just fits the narrative of seeking completion, and his comparisons to Marika, a bit better.||
||what about the various items that point to him having been related to giants which doesnt fit with him being a fragment||
I would be fine with that if it wasn't super unsupported by everything in the game and dlc
||I'm only aware of the Giant's Braid, which I've heard has different connotations in other languages.||
||if he is a fragment he can't be releated to giants, and his kids also can't be related to giants||
super unsupported?
I mean I'd personally say the opposite
but its an area thats definitely not clear
togethaaaaa we can devowaaaaah the very godsssss
||there's too much "Radagon has a traceable lineage" content that makes the dlc information line it up extremely well, yeah||
||raddaans armor also talks about how how has pride in hair unlike raddagon
Radahn inherited the furious, flaming red hair of his father Radagon, and is fond of its heroic implications. ||
i was gonna come in here to say stuff about the magma wyrms but there's a lore argument happening so i'll wait
tell me about the wyrms
ok so magma wyrms are people who were cursed for taking part in dragon communion
because supposedly eating dragon hearts to become a dragon is "blasphemous" and "evil"
but the thing is
magma wyrms and the dragonfuckery is super interesting too, yeah
i feel like the wyrms got the better side of the deal
they still turned into giant firespitting lizards
they may not be able to fly like true dragons but they get a neat sword and are just as fearsome as the real thing imo
last thing from me (its wyrm time) but ||The dlcs treatment of Trina - both said to be the 'other half', both said to have appeared and disappeared from nowhere, both perish on the death of the other - give a much stronger arguement he's fundementally the same thing. I also don't think the dlc gives any further indication of his lineage, and involves you starting to take other theories for granted - like Marika having ever been put in jar to begin with, or Radagon being reborn through some means.||
The real answer is we'll never know though

interesting
||it doesn't necessitate either of those||
is this lore in item descriptions
if i was offered the option between "live a normal life" and "be cursed to become a giant magma spewing dragon thing" i'd take the curse in a fucking heartbeat
||Marika didn't need to be jarred, because that's not stated as being a requirement for melding||
you fought him right? Its why Marika and him are all broken - they were shattered.
||there's just that esoteric statement of "shaman flesh melds harmoniously", which gives context to what makes the jar-blobbing feasible||
oaauuoooghhhhh, elden ring
shattered
by someone
or something
ok we're on the same page here
I didn't know if you were putting forward those other ones because tbh they're pretty common
i'm just working off the explicit information we have, yeah
I see
i'll take "being a magma wyrm is a curse" as enough evidence its probs not a fun existence
at the very least you are no longer yourself
and a loss of self always seems scariest to me
aye
actually speaking of + the other thing
||Thoughts on Marika becoming a vessel for the Elden Ring as a shaman-specific thing, rather than a property of the ring?||
||Her shaman flesh melding her with the Elden Beast?||
HMMMMMMMMM
oh wait i should go tackle the sewers
its kinda the theory I was working on right after dlc
good luck friend
||i think that would probably be an Empyrean thing, rather than a shaman thing - but from called them miko for a reason, and it's hard to cut away the connotations of divinity and shrine associations from that||
||i think they would've used a different term for "holy woman" if they didn't want them to be immediately associated with gods||
||so it's an interesting theory||
||and explains why Marika was trapped (can't die or quit without passing Order onto someone else) + why Ranni was so keen to get rid of her flesh and yet still remains Empyrean.||
tyty
there's a lot of stuff still unanswered, yeah
||I guess I'm more just saying 'what if the melding she did isn't how Godhood works on its own, its how Marika handled it due to her ability to merge'||
and though i wish for more information on some of these things (PROCESSION OF STARS), i'm happy that fromsoft has maintained that inscrutability
yeah it's interesting
||iirc pre-dlc it was commonly accepted true Godhood just requires the ring, yet theres Miquella right there||
and imo at the very least plausible
is ranni's ending supposed to be kinda vague? not sure what the new age is supposed to be, although marika has now faded so I guess ranni is the new god?
random enemies show up with jedi powers
unreleated to dungeon
ominously mentions Proper Nouns
refuses to elaborate
Why is it always confusion?
In short Elden Ring, O Elden Ring
my view is its the get rid of all gods ending
ahh
100% intended to be vague
cool beans
its the only ending without a view from the future looking back - fits her motifs
you're going into the cold and dark and unknown - you don't get the surety of how it turns out
shes (probably, most likely) the new god, but refuses to use power of of the Elden Ring
her Order is 'no Order'
her quest and what she done makes me more of think she hates gods in general and wants them gone from the land entirely
depends on what you mean by gods
I dont think any ending lessens magic, or the various divinities in TLB
she did throw away her great rune
she worked with melina who many beleive is the gloam eye queen who used weapons meant to kill gods
but shes against the Marika type god, for sure
yeah her ending is about abstaining from power

its why you travel with her, you're also abstaining from active Lordship
versus settling down to rule
(which, with the dlc, ||sets up her clear counterpart in Miquella - whos willing to actively make the world a better place through being the undeniable center of his own Order, who'll dominate the lands between as a new divinity||)
(||while Ranni won't use godhood at all to impose a way of life on the Lands Between, and instead just hides Order||)
||eh miquella reminds me more of the "ill erase suffering by removing all emotions" kind of person||
I see her ending as metaphorically embracing death
you gotta basically accept your life in the lands between is over, that you wont affect it at all
and you head into the fearful dark, never to return
I mean not wrong either
||but its their use of power that sets them as opposites - Miquella's gold is unalloyed because it all comes from and centers on him, his symbol is the circlet of light because it can stand above and apart from those within. He's intractable from the Age he seeks to make, and is ready to use divine power to bring everyone under his vision - literally all-encompassing.||
she's got one of the better endings overall
definitely a sick cutscene
I have joked before that Rykard needed to go into archteicture
I mean, the volcano is ltierally consuming his town
and his buildings havent melted.
and generallyl seem to be going wel
didn't he also build the snake abductors
maybe he's got a knack for engineering, skilled with a hammer
||probably got it from his dad||
rykard would do wonders for the lands between's architecture and technology if he wasn't obsessed with his pet snake's vore fetish
smh just like the Golden Order to kinkshame....
yeah i recomend fire
Me on a taco bell binge
dung eater is so funny to me
lemme give you an analogy that is spoilered for being a bit extreme but accurate
||calling him "dung eater" is like calling a guy who kills a guy and sexually defiles his corpse on live television and then says that heaven is real and he just made sure that guy isn't getting in "the shoplifter"||
the funny part to me is that his moniker is the least of the problems when you're dealing with him
i thought about doing an inctations or sorcries only run
or just a magic only run in general
LEYNDELL CATACOMBS
AAAAA
i love these kinda things lol
uhh
dang
mohg wasn't here
either
😟
i know some people hate these enemies, but i think you really have to hand it to them
sigh
i will not. i will be showing them the finger as long as i am near them
https://www.twitch.tv/thezombiepenguin
Streamin'
its one of the places in the game i did actully use a shield

I am not for I am a baby who would go above 70% encumberance if I did that with my set of
actual armor
dodge and weave!
i was thinking about ds2 and doing an all boss run and im just thinking "what on earth should me build be"
have you guys ever heard of an all hit run?
it's where you purposely don't dodge any attack the boss throws at you and instead tank it and win.
someone did that on the final boss of the elden ring dlc
is guarding allowed
hmm
I didn't know gurranq and maliketh were the same
interesting..
For all hit runs? Nah. You win them but abusing defence stacking, and often stuff like ironjar aromatic + wild strikes great stars or the ilk
I cannot fathom doing that with the DLC bosses, but I'd have said the same about one-shot runs and I know people have managed that, so
The thing about defence in Elden Ring is that it's all multiplicative.
So if you're already at 50% physical resist, and you use something that reduces damage taken by 10%, even though your defence will only show it went up to 51% out whatever, you're still taking 10% less damage than you were
In combo with the fact that at 60 vigor + Crimson Amber 3 + Morgotts great rune you get some very silly HP numbers
And you can effectively multiply that 2.5k HP to be equivalents to actually having 25k or silly
to learn the final dlc boss I stacked holy resist up to about 90, 92%
and it was silly
Yeah at that point a 100 damage holy attack hits you, and it does... 8 damage.
Oh no. Anyway
I get confused about damage numbers when I see the hits summons take
"What do you mean 2.4k. What do you mean."
NAMELESS KING WAS SO NEEDLESSLY STRESSFUL AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
god bless black fire orb, chaos bed vestiges, and chaos astora's sword
All right
I literally only have one boss left lol
no dlc?
tfw you specced fully into fire but the final boss is Lord of Cinder
Well I gotta find a dark gem lmao
Happens early in DS1 too, early boss is just Fully Immune
'Ah. Oh, No.'
my friend doing demon prince on his full pyromancy build 😔
do a helix halberd run
i thought baout that
but its pretty late
i don't want anything post shrine of winter to be a focus
summon me and i'll drop it
ill think about it ive also thought about doing powerstance since i never actully did it in ds2
or twinblade
you will not regret powerstancing colossal weapons
trying to give ds2 another go
i think it just chaffs to much with what i want in a souls
also man i forgot about durability, fuck durability lmaoooo
yeah im mainly not a fan of durablity in 2
in 1 it was what ever it was more of a limit of ablity us
the speed of combat hasnt felt too great, i forgot the estus sucks a lot, and largely the world design feels like its aged worse than i remembered
which is a shame cuz i like the lore
feel free to ask for tips
and one big thing ds2 has over the others is you have a lot more choices on where to go
respectfully tips dont make a game whose designs i hate better, but i do appreciate the offer
this is my 3rd run so i went deprived
unfortunately ds2 is the only game that wants durability to matter
because it wants you to think about the logistics of a no death no bonfire run
i think some weapons it works fine for
and every aspect of attrition thereof
but some feel like what?
ugh dying in ds2 blows too, why is my hp impacted that way (i know why i just dont like it compared to other soulslike)
dragonslayer spear has 30 durablit yand uses 5 durabliuty per heavy
due to its special
guess the durablity of the thorned greatsword
85
oh huh
no wait its 10 durablity per heavy on the dragon slayer spear

and its 10 for the glass knigt greatswrod
that has 85 durablity
which kinda makes some sense in that case
yeah the fp system for special attacks (and/or just free shit like the wing of astel) is just
so much less ball-crushing
i think in ds1 i perfered the durbality system over 3's version
but i do perfer elden ring overall
one thingi will say about the losing health per level thing is the ring for it is pretty early on, and enemies in ds2 rarely do a truckton of damage
even in a sl1 run the only things that could oneshot me was veldstat after buffing and nashasdra
also deprived is aboutely the slowest and most painful start
but i still like depraved
knight and explorere are my recomends for most non magical builds
apparently I just needed to rest at the grace
💀
okii
I'll come back another time!! sorry that I can't stay when I finally catch a stream 😔
I want to play the dlc as blind as possible
That is toally understanble =3
It's okay!

...I should do a build in elden ring that actually uses a shield at some point
:O
sevens mentioned she did a shield poking build
lance monster hunter....
how many (main ish) bosses can be parried?
Not many I don't think? I know you can parry morgott/margit and malenia, but I'm not sure who else
loretta,godskin, elmer,
mlikith sorta
one of my favorite extremely insane things ive done
is beat veldstat at sl1 relying entirely on parries
well not entirly i just parried the stuff i felt safe about and dodged the rest
and i did to do it with hand parries

got and upgraded godfrey's axe, it might be a bit lower damage than my current sword but it's cool
and has a different moveset
ended up playing fighting games for most of the night tho, but I'll be back
tmrw...
now I'm just down to mohg (sewers) and then mohg (real) and malenia, I believe
where's millicent
last saw her before castle sol, telling me about the medallion
She’s in the haligtree iirc
how did she get there without the medallion 🤔
ty rose
I'll trek through the snowfield sometime
What’s the earliest greatshield you can get (other than the one the grafted scion drops)?
94 phys block is good enough tbh
first 100 block i can think of is the godrick knight greatshield
the gilded greatshield
but those guys can be dickheads to farm without a strat
the one in the ruins you can use summons to help
The what
you can also swing over to liurnia for the jellyfish shield
with 100 block, reasonably low weight, and 20 str req
I was gonna use that one until I could get a better one yeah
Or just do the sensible thing of just using the vagabond shield until later so I don’t have to farm
yeah i think medium shield is going to be fine until you have a greatshield and the stats to use it
you can also grab the Manor Towershield in Stormveil pretty easily if you know where it is
There's a merchant who sells a great 100% block shield in limgrave
Near Kenneth's fort
iirc the Brass Shield that soldiers drop is the best of the medium shields, at least in terms of guard boost
however it is also somewhat heavy
Heavy, rare drop, 16 strength requirement.
But the best medium shield for guard boost and general resistances, except for lighting.
Blue-Gold Kite shield is lighter, better lighting resist and otherwise good elemental resists, lower strength requirement, but about ten less guard boost.
Messmer Solider Shield is 1 point of guard boost behind Brass shield, easy str requirement (it's ten?), ways five rather than seven, but it only has 42% elemental resists. And ofc, dlc locked
I use Messmer's because I'm not really trying to block elemental often, and if I am there's Shield grease or just parrying with Carian Retaliation. And 40% block already defangs elemental really well
There's also Banished Knights Shield which has same guard boost as Messmer's, better elemental except for lighting, 1 more weight, 14 strvs 10
I don't usually factor Str requirements on account of favoring bonk builds 😛 but yeah
Tbh I think Messmer's and Banished Knight win for fashion, too, though it depends on the look you're going for
The new crest shields look great
i felt a lot of the base game medium shields were kinda ugly
Oh hey, this is finally out

i didn't know this was being worked on but its a good video
ooh
i did get surpised by the discharge one
more sewers today…
This video has reaffirmed my belief that Andy is the most unhinged challenge runner out there, ||doing the entire run away from his computer at 300 ping and 15fps and still getting all possible points is insane||
||Honestly I kinda want to know what on earth plateau was doing to do that much damage, I wonder how far he could get with just the dragon claws and greatsword||

Also I 1000% look like Eileen the crow rn
Ds2 progress: rotten and sinner dead, mace is +7 now
ive never done the mace route
i also usally skip freja on most playthoughts
out of the 4 lord souls its probally the one i like to fight the least
I just bought a mace cuz i always used swords before
Its nice
Ruin Sentinels kinda died immediately to it
I like the area quite a bit
don't really know why tbh, its not like the enemies are super fun
i just mainly advoid bosses with friends
I want souls so i like to fight bosses
Bosses are never my problem its usually some of the jank enemies
Like the "dogs" in the gutter
What is up with that hurtbox
yeah idk i just advoid the dogs
i just have memorized at this point a path i like
for the gutter take it and leave
The white knights at the tower of flame also have very "interesting" hurtboxes
i can't stand the heide knights
ive gotten a lot better at dealing with them just over time
i can parry most of them pretty easily
its less hitboxes more their attacks are voer 0-100 speed
wait a second...
I never helped alexander out of his hole near jarburg
but he still met me at mt gelmir and in farum azula
maybe someone else helped him out 😌

Best of luck
I am questioning the choice of colossal weapon and
no armor
nize
Don't question @sour grail they're hardcore, theyll fight you
MASSIVE, PHENOMENAL, GOD-SLAYING WEAPON
-# teeny, tiny little pants
yeah you do end up trading a bit with colossals
MAY CHAOS! TAKE! THE WORLD!
🥺
Visions of slug,
so to speak its like a dream...
The Doll’s love may be unconditional, but this is really pushing it
The Doll needs a raise
That implies she gets paid
She better she's important
she gets paid in blood echoes
tru
hmm
debating whether to upgrade cleric candlestick or golden ritual spear for my xanthous spellsword set
spear
moonlight greatsword actually looks really good with the xanthous fit I came up with
But I am a pyro build
So its damage is doodoo
invaded, killed 2 cooperators then got knowledge checked by host martial arts
mohging
Oh no
Did you see my silly host nuke the other day?
That AoW is such pranks
hmmm, i suppose I could yeah
got to the haligtree as well
maybe I'll grab it tmrw
need to find some better settings for the game on my laptop in case I play on it... hmm
I'll stress test it some other time
mohg was a banger fight tho, I liked it
pretty fair (even though he had crazy reach)
and the p2 music slapped
Oh? 👀
Update: Here's a better guide for this strategy: https://youtu.be/FvIPt-WPB-U?si=Q3UBXGAcqGso9PyU&t=1810
The old Mohg cheese, where you fall through the map, has been patched. But this strategy works in patch 1.12 DLC. It completely stunlocks Mohg and kills him before 2nd phase "Nihil". Make sure to follow the actions and setup shown.
Note 1: ...
iron pineapple did this at sl1
What if you started Elden Ring's DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, at level 1 with an empty inventory? That's what this video is about.

so radhann isnt actully required for the dlc?
holy crap
Wait what
he doesnt mention raddhan at all
so thats my assumption
maybe idk
good chance im just wrong
nvm i am wrong
theres a speedrun that does fight raddahn
🐴 🤏
yeah it is requried
that makes me sad
i do hope someone makes a mod that lets you just skip to the dlc
it has to be possible right
or something that force unlocks the grace in the starting zone of it
hmmm
i wonder if i'll level out of the pvp bracket, the non-gank invasions were fun
but no shade for people who team up, especially if they're just exploring and i've just popped in
i think my next soulslike run will be powerstanced ds2 run
powerstanced crypt blackswords my beloved
i thought baout is katanas the best or worst idea
because my thought is maybe ill only use up half the durablity
split betwene the two katanas
i forgot how odd the explorer starting equpiment is
a spell resist ring, some bolts, magic resin, prisom stones, russted coin, repair powerd, and a lockstone
Everything an explorer needs*!
*other than a good weapon
im chosing it purely because it starts with a dagger
and itsnt the sorcere
so i can poerstance daggers
also is this not a goofy stat
I sitll get good invasions at level 200
and they tend to be pretty silly
Shard of alex, divine beast head, divine beast talisman = BIG NUMBY
hey everyone, did you know that the LGS poise damage buff in the latest patch is PVP only? on a related note, ow.
It's in pve too! It didnt used to hitstun most enemies
it now ntoably does on heavy attacks etc
and lighter enemies on the lgiht attacks
stuff like the running 1hnad heavyi s now a great opener
the patch notes say PVP only? and when i was doing my ||fire knight|| farming run earlier tonight they were poising through multiple hits
Fire knights abosloteuy get flinched if you're hitting them with the heavy
General balance adjustments
Increased damage animation of the Light Greatsword charge attacks against enemies (other than players).
i was definitely not experiencing that
and i don't think "damage animation" means poise damage
since they specifically say "poise damage" elsewhere in the patch notes
All i can say as someonef who's maining the Milady, and generally demolsihing Fire Knights when i'm not arsing around
my expreince is different
I am gonna go check now thoguh
yeah i dunno, maybe i was doing something wrong, or catching them when they had hyperarmor
because my playstyle does focus on rushing and stunlocking opponents
and it was distinctly not working with the Milady when it was with my other weapons
Oh huh
You're quite right, tehy seem to be very difficutl to make fliunch with Milady
i think it's mostly hyper armolr
because if you hit htem wehn tehy're not attackign the d agger knights will abosloteuy flinch
But the colossal knights are very hard if not impossible to make flinch
that said, Wing stance R1 and R2 will flinch them no matter what i belive
And milady's recovery is so fast you can often go poke into parry
So my apologies for being wrong here @noble plover I dunno why i had it in my head they'd flinch
I think ti is you have to hit htem in entural stance and htey'll flinch, and only on some attacks of milady, and they're so aggressive that neutral stance hits are actually very rare
lol i went and checked too to make sure i wasn't losing my mind
yeah, hard to catch them when they're not in motion
i think the heavy Wing Stance attack does flinch them, provided you don't get knocked out of the air first
ah, yeah, you said that
i think it's just a rough adjustment for me given that i usually run stuff like greataxes and greathammers
Sincere apologies again! I hate endingu p giving misinformation like that, nd making someone doubt themselves 😦
no worries! it's a lot of information to keep straight
Okay, charged heavies can avbsoloteuy poise break dagger knights
so that might be what i was remebering
WIngstance R1 into R2 will stagger them for every hit and do a ton of damage (About 2/3rds oif their health bar ucrrnetly for me)
Heavy charged attacks also flinch them
i find they're very vulnerable to parries
this is sounding a lot like caring about timing rather than just swinging a blunt instrument into their face 😛
i jest but i do wanna figure out Milady at some point
it just drips with style
@noble plover If you can, cathc my stream someitme as i'm playing Milady almost excelsuviely currently
I find milday's strong points are: It's got a really powerful 1 hand moveset, so it pairs vey well with a casting focus or shield. Fast recovery on most of it's animations, making it very good for the poke n parry approach
Wing Stance is devasting, esp the R2 as that's a Pierce attack, so it gets the counter damage, shard buffs it, you can even get headshots with it.
actually, hang on, here
MIld dlc spoilers for Castle Ennis boss: ||https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2210356453||
This is me demolsiihg her with wing stance in a bout a minute and half
and it's nto even a clean fight
oh very nice
i'm on Str/Fai so maybe i can do heavy infusion with clawmark in the offhand
slowly but surely building a repertoire of alt builds here
Do rember that Clawmark is terrible for infusions
Er, wepaon buffs*
but otehr than that, you sure can
This is a level 200 build
yeah, i was thinking more like, lightning spear/KLS
Oh, KLS fucks absoltoeuy run that
and Milady does well two-handed and lets you use the two-hander talisman
Keen Milady is better for 1-handing, Heavy Milady is better for two-handing
yeah, Chase was saying something about Heavy only being 9 AR behind Keen one-handed and something like 30 AR ahead two-handed
Mhmm.
(Dex milady is also nice if you want to maintain copies for Bleed and Frostbite, as it turns into a dex weapon with those)
I'm a Dex/Faith build so i'm also double-dipping on the Dex to let me combat cast really well
as you probably saw with the cheeky heal in there
In my c ase, my stats are... 60 vig, 35 Mind, 25 End, 12 Str, 80 dex (70 + Curseblade Mask and MIlicent's Prothesis), 7 int, 60 faith, 10 arcane
With a prophet start
heavy also increases the stamina cost of attacks, yeah?
iirc it's like
a 20% increase in sta drain on both attack and block
No? It just increases strength scaling
huh, are you sure?
Yeah no, infusion has no affect on stuff like that
i don't usually call r2s heavy attacks
All affinities do is change scaling and add damage types/status build up
I think two handing has more expensive stamina costs, to attack with h and block with , but yeah i dotn think infusion does anyhting
and if it does i would be So Mad.
good to hear
Though soemtiems the frequency is off. I did manage to 3v1 today thoguh, so that was nice!
(That is, i was the one, and i killed everyone else)
o7
150 and 200 are kind of the meta PVP levels
I think 150's a bit more popular, but some people do swear by 200
loses too many of the trade-offs that make builds fun imo
I like it when you gotta sacrifice to hit the numbers you want
i think part of it is 150 is the average levle to beart the game
thats why other games were 120 usally
i see..
so its what I do for most characters
i could optimize a bit for pvp i guess
I'm about 160 now because I'm mostly a pve person, and I'll keep leveling
but it might be worth it to make some pvp characters in the future
yeah nothing wrong with that
i got to about 200 by the end of the dlc
my pve character for the dlc I took to about 170
and once I started looping ng+ I added 5 levels here and there
the fun part of not levelling is being able to run around with this
🤑
kinda scary if you're invading
you also dont really lose anything when you die though
like I could buy a couple hundred smithing stones but ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I already got enough
i bought a lot of crab and smithing stones for the dlc yeah
oh, I thought you dropped your runes
I have half of my physick dedicated to the twiggy cracked tear, not sure how much of a difference that makes
oh I mean even if I lose this stuff it doesn't matter, because I'm not levelling
I see
like its just a number

Yeah, now that I'm approaching my level target I'm having to decondition myself from the "grab the runes" reflex
Like I'm just inching up my faith to get a little bit more damage out of my DK axe. I just level once or twice when I beat a boss and it's fine
oh no
I have a theory that I'm going to check
I may have forgotten to remove my multiplayer password after playing with my friend
and that's why i've gotten no co-op summons
Rip in pieces
urgh i'm still kinda cheesed about this 😭 but yeah maybe people are looking for help for more of the later bosses
I like cooping so much
ooh
that could be fun too
looking at the list, i can be summoned by 135 +19/+8 somber, so probably fire giant onwards
excited...

I want to go home...
man
i forgot how obnoxious the bridge hellkite in ds1 was
really is just necessary to cheese it
because it just spams that Worst Fire Breath attack
I'm gonna be honest I never figured out how to get past it
besides going the long way
oh
