I'm getting so many int swords!
moonveil, radahn's, some giant ugs
😔
where faith weapons....
winged scythe is pretty solid
altus
faith usally leans str and int usally leans dex
dang...
a lot of those weapons you wnat high stats in both
also str gets boosted by 1.5 when twohanding
my guess with that one
is the the bulk of the damage is physcial
but the weapon art gets most of its scaling from int
no wait
yeah it says online itsb ased on weapon level
so yeah min stats is fine to use
The ruins greatsword is basically a pure strength weapon that requires a small amount of int
Outside of the base requirement there’s not really any reason to put points into int
ok i will go 16 int to use those 2 swords later
i don't recomend sprading yourelf out just to try weapons
use talismans and tears
talismans boost by 5 god talismans boost a few stats by 3
tears boost stats by 10
one tip is all the trees have tears near them
the mini erdtrees
ooh
got it
wonder how much i can make it do
might have to do buffs + determination for that 60%
then skill
snipe the sniper
Faith weapons will come! there is a ton of them
just need to find dragnbarrow
nvm
the makar dungeon took me here
no dectus needed
Florida+
if its horryifying its prob caelid
Notably that area is scaled for a much higher level than altus plateau
Honestly the whole Dragonbarrow/Caelid still feels... somewhat iunfisnhed to me?
It's suxch a weeeeeerid zone
it does feel like it got ||bio-nuked||
I find dragonbarrow kinda barren and the transition between the two areas level wise baffling, but otherwise it’s fine
oh i haven't been then
yeah theres a title card
I am a mighty warrior
lifesteal on kill + lifesteal on crit
big curved greatsword so I can lay waste to hordes of enemies
😌
😌
ooooh, the troll's golden sword is shiny
it looks nicer than the Grafted Blade gs, but doesn't scale with str as well
altus map!
visions of Tree Sentinel...
all the more Tree Sentinel
dual tree sentinels down
oki I have 11 int so an int talisman will let me use those 2 swords
I do think that a boss rush would've been cool for the Radahn Festival before facing him
😩
maybe i'll put my sign down at radahn
Elden ring endgame stuff (spoiling because danny is playing through the game) ||I just realized, since you fight Godfrey after Gideon there’s a non zero chance that Gideon saw that he had to fight a god, went “a man cannot kill a god”, but then just let Godfrey go through unopposed||
||Just like, “Marika has high hopes for us. That we continue to struggle, unto eterni- holy shit is that Godfrey? Okay you get to go on through, you can definitely kick god’s ass”||
I'm always fascinated by his approach there; ||it almost seems like he's a true Marika supporter out of practicality in those moments, and that his pursuit up until then has just been about pruning the Tarnished in that aim||

Considering picking up Lies of P this sale
anyone got any opinions or takes on it? I watched the Iron Pineapple vreview ands liked what i saw there
It's very good
no luck compared to the misbegotten + crucible knight

I was getting constant summons for those
honestly, now that I upgraded my levels and weapons I might have more luck
at level 69 and +6 unique weapon

or I can help with that duo again, just want to vibe with peeps
a few more rune arcs won't hurt either
it's the best fromsoft style game I've ever played
I loved sekiro and it's better than sekiro
the pnet consensus is that lies of p is wildly good, good to the point some people feel it surpasses the fromsoft catalogue for their own tastes
Interesting! and compelling!
my hesitation is that i can find delayed hits and also parrying mechanics really hard
and it seems to be well
A Lot Of THose
There's like a weird leeway to the parrying in Lies of P that can be helpful and it's that you can be pretty early? But also it seems to have a little startup so you can be late. But preemptive button pushing prevents a ton of damage still, doesn't always have to be Perfect
it's basically a block
I enjoyed watching someone play Lies of P
I think the conceit of that series is really cool and I'm excited to see what they do next
but its not a game for me to play
Interesting! I had a very mixed feeling on Sekiro (I never did finish the final boss), but otherwise had a good time withit, and i got thorugh like 90% of the game.
So i'm like... 95% sure i'll enjoy Lies of P,i'm just waffling (alst time i invested in a big game it was Dragon's Dogma 2 and i ended up bouncing off pretty hard)
though to be fair, my issues iwth DD2 was the pawns Never. Fucking. Shutting. UP
oh my god just be quiet.
I liked sekiro much much more than the rest of the fromsoft lineup, which barely kept my attention for more than like 30 minutes
for me my direction has been like... sekiro -> lies of p -> nine sols
there's a particular style they all nail which is "we have a story and also you parry your way through it"
Mainly that they have very big highs and very big lows.
I appreciate linear storytelling and not being able to weasel around bossfights
coincidentally I think all 3 games started difficulty discourse waves
Ironically, some of the ability to weasel around bossfights in Dark Souls/Elden Ring is an issue i have with the games
(In that i think develoipers leaving the outs of oh you can Cheese X fight in Y way ends up leading the mto create fights that overtuned in other places, because inveitnialypeople resort to the cheese)
i'm really unsold on the core fromsoft 'rpg' layer where you can make your own build and approach any fight as anybody, be an archer! be a mage! etc
sekiro, lies of p, nine sols - they support exactly one mode of play and hard design for it
so it's excellent and focused and the games are telling you to shut up and learn their rhythm
you cannot be a mage in lies of p. you cannot be an archer in lies of p. you can hit hard or hit fast, but you're gonna have some kind of melee weapon and you're gonna have to block this overhead
yess this is awesome
I think im eager for the focused fromsoft playstyle game that does involve magic or a shield, because sekiro was tight as hell i just cant parry
I mean, I'll say my bit again, which is that the From Soft RPGs are extremely descended from Armored Core
Its why im eager for the teaser after lies of p
I'll say this - you doing have to parry in lies of p
It's just one supported playstyle
Cuz that game setup seems perfect for a mage
you can use dodges pretty decently but it can be hard
When @glossy cloak and @gloomy ibex and I played lies of p, we all played very differently
Alex approached it like blood borne with super aggressive dodging
you can build around in a way your normal guard is really strong
i mainly relied on dodges and parrying only the stuff i needed to
There's a guard style in lies of p that does not exist in fromsoft games
and hey i finished the game the fastest 😌
the one thing that Lies of P didn't do for me was bringing that configurability
Heavy guard
i managed to parry probally the hardest to parry attack in the game which was nice Also by parry i mean parry not perfect guard
you cannot tear apart your build and reconfigure very much
Oh a guard style does appeal to me
So, in lies of p, when you guard it becomes fake damage and you can hit enemies to recover that damage
But if you get hit that fake damage all becomes real damage
It's like guilty gear risc
They put bloodborne in lies of p, interesting
It's really more like recoverable health from hyper fighters
also the weapon crafting
tbh
Yeah kinda
any non boss weapon can be split in half handle and blade and moved around
It's a provisional bite out of your health
both handle and blade have a fable art on them
You can tank really hard with a heavy weapon in lies of p and it's a very involved nuanced game
handle picks the moveset
There's a lot of depth to the combat system
I think lies of p easily has the deepest combat system of any of these games I've played
Conversely, there is not a lot of depth to kitting your character
I definitely think Lies of P distilled everything down to a very good combat engine yeah
nioh's combat is pretty indepth buts its just alot so most people just master one weapon
Alex finished lies of p... Thrice?
It drops a lot of other iconic Souls aspects, like branching paths, weird secrets, not having a plot
My cule are fans
Two or three times
See I think Elden Ring is focused it's just not focused on honing your combat skills to perfection
I don't finish most games even once haha
i beat it twice for 100%
Yeah elden ring is more of an ecology game
Nah I think most Soulsborne games are very unfocused and tbh that's fine
Many games gain a lot from being a bit wide and meandering
There's diffuse elements but there's also a very clear vision of what you're supposed to be doing gameloop wise
which is
-finding new stuff to use
-experimenting with it
-running into an enemy that forces you to reconfigure and experiment more
Armored Core is even more focused on this concept and that's why it's GOATed
also
random stupid insight and sidenote that I can now see having played some ffxiv and watched some streamer elden ring recently
lies of p has the best transmog system I've ever seen
beecause it just replaces all the armor bits with like 5 different random internal organ robot parts
so you have a "modulator" slot and a "converter" slot and a "transformer" slot or whatever
and you slot the doohickeys in
the stuff you wear being purely aesthetic was very good yes
and none of them affect your outfit
i thought the armor was kinda disppointing honestly
so you can just pick your duds and your duds do not change as your build changes
it meant I got to do some fashion show stuff during my playthrough, try out all the different stuff
you can regear your armor whenever you want
the actual armor components were boring
yeah
but
and you don't need to look like a naked lady running around in a hat with a big hammer
you get to try out all the swagger you see
i def think there should have been more part varience
Parts ultimately were just "more defense = more weight"
with sidegrades for defending against specific elements
something i constantly complain about is how little of armor in soulslikes have neat effects, and it was one of thing things i praised ds2 about
yeah don't get me wrong - I'm not a fan of fromsoft / lies of p gearing in general
basically only dota has impressed me with equipment effects
but most games can't afford to give you really interesting gear without messing with stuff
I prefer they just remove the gear layer entirely
like sekiro and nine sols
as much as people dislike nioh for its diablo stats, thats one thing i liked having armor actully feel intresting beyond defense
imagine playing elden ring and then popping bkb in the renalla fight
the diablo stats knocked me right off of Nioh 2's NG+
a lot of the sets can be easy to farm than upgrade up
i used for 100% nioh the last great genral set and for nioh 2 on my play though i used the ninja set that one trainer has
like, my issue was not "this is hard" or "this is too much for me to think about", it was "I do not play video games to manage an Excel sheet"
which is fine
Lots of people love excel sheets
its less complicated than people think it is.
im a gear addict i need my fashion souls with stats in ER
er is a step forward compared to 3 or 1 but still a stepback from 2 in terms of armor with unique stats
thats good
didn’t follow up because I suddenly became very busy: I do like the freedom of build stuff in the souls games as well! it’s fun being able to mix and match stuff or completely change up a playstyle
but i’m also looking forward to sekiro and nine sols for that tightly designed experience
sekiro is too tight for my liking
while lies of p and code vien are tighter but have more wiggleroom
you cant say in sekiro as the key to a plan have a 2nd weapon just to use its weapon ablity once for a fight
theres an extremely hard to perfect guard attack against the best boss in the game it only does this attack once maybe twice
Was looking around for some elden ring sliders and hmmmmmmmmm

It doesn't look that great but meh
looks pretty good!
whetblade question: they let you infuse with any element that they grant, instead of the ones that come with the ash?
like the ds3 coals?
Mostly yeah, some ashes are locked to a couple of specific elements though
Every ash can give standard/quality/heavy/keen though
In character lmao
It’s complicated - ashes that have an inherent infusion can only be changed to other infusions from the same “family” or physical, so if a whetblade grants infusions X, Y, and Z, an ash with infusion X can be switched to Y or Z or Heavy/Keen/Quality/Standard, but not to Infusion A from a different whetblade
Ashes that are inherently physical infusions can be changed to any infusion though.
D:
so, even if I have all the whetblades, I can't give a weapon Chilling Mist along with a Fire infusion?
as an example
Which can be a good thing
how so
Freezing an enemy causes burst damage as well as debuffing their physical damage resistance
If you want the physical damage down, you keep them frozen
But if you want to reset and freeze them again, dealing fire damage will let you get back to causing another freeze
firebombs are a good way to do it
blasphemous blade + helens steeple my beloved
I have the insta freezer build on one of my characters that’s rocking Death’s Poker on the right and Helphen’s Steeple on the left
You two-hand the steeple, buff, swap back to power stance and everything dies in one powerstance swing
today may be a divine tower of caelid day...
just need to figure out where it is
also! I learned how the effigies work
that's so cool
you don't have to sit at the spot by your sign and wait

Aye
I can just activate the pools wherever and go adventuring!!
You just send ‘em
problem is, I thought that activating them was enabling invasion in that area
so none of mine are activated
which is good if I just wanna help with bosses I guess

Helpful Danny mode
hehe
fortified manor...
mad tongue alberich
something is up here
i'm lost, idk where morgott would be
got black blade kindred!
eyy
it still hit hecka hard, but after fighting 5 valiant gargs in the past day
kinda downloaded
also just realized this place probably isn't an island
💀
you ee those little things
oh fuck lmao I forgor
those are map spots if you just wannt rust the map
yeah i just haven't gotten around to that area
😭
the only reason I have the sellia tunnel is limgrave chest trolling
there's probably a boss in here
ah nah i did it
You have a lot of cute rat emojis danny

they are super cute
uh ok
this guy came outta nowhere
but went down p fast
no remembrance tho
hmmm
the grace isn't named after him
there's probably another fight
but i got an achievement
weird

guess I'll check that coliseum tmrw

How bosses are in souls games... every time. Or maybe most of the time. Or som...
that's why they're the goats
While that is... not entirely accurate, it is also... mroe accurate than i'd like
and it's hoenstly one of the reaosns i call these games the best worst games
In this essay i will explain why monster hunter is be- is dragged off stage
diablos monster hunter got a lot better after i realized i could block Dig with a shield
what's tackle
move on Greatsword
Greatsword move I thin- yeah
o
you cancel a charge attack into a foward step shoulder barge
😵💫
it has hyper armor with massive dmaage resistance, inherits your charge level
and does impact damage
so it's entirely possible to KO a monster by slamming your shoulder into them
it is Very Funny
also it moves you to the next level of charge attack
a lot of problems I had came from not knowing positioning and the combat flow

so you can charge cancel all the way into True Charged Slash
Combined with the slinger in iceborne, it made Greatsword very very mobile
and opened up a lot of fun
it sounds pretty fun(ny)
Oh, it is hilarious because you can just shoulder check all kinds of bullshit
i tried gs at the very beginning, but it wasn't the best for my first mh weapon
MH in general kinda struggles to teach people How to Hunter, i think is a very fair critique
friends said i should learn positioning first
it does its best, but there's a lot of deep systems
Yeah, GS really wants to get positinoing down
so I ended up using charge blade 💀
yeah i think GS is not a good starter weapon
charge blade is probally in some ways worse
because in theory you can kill end game monsters in like... 10 hits if you do it right.
:O
wow
pick whatever and stumble through as best you can
yeah I've been stumbling
MOnsters have like 20k hp? at endamge in iceborne? it varies
and greatsword can drop hits that do 2k+ easy.
Ha, yes, literally Great Katana has some of longsword's exact moves
which is probably why i hate it.
longsword, sns, hammer, lance, and double are pretty good beginner weapons
I do not like Longsword either.
i did ok with charge blade, switch axe and bow, mostly solo
Dual Blades are my big jam
IIRC when I played world I started out with normal gunlance, then abandoned it for lance after high rank because it was too hard to get off the full burst combo
ive used everythhing except GS at some point
In world i met the very first big monster andn early killed it just using the basic arse dual blades
because well
i been huntering a looooong time
The arse bit of dual blades is you have to learn the monster's elemental resists
and make like 5 different blades
often ten different blades
i tried a bit of lance
becuase the math is COMPLICATED
it's pretty chill
lance is really fun in rise
i want to be good at gunlance but i hate everything about it
on paper i should be totally into it but i can't stand the movement or the moveset
i should honestly make a low/mid tier version of many/every weapon and use it on some smaller hunts, see what's up
It's totally valid!
One of the good things about monster hunter is everything has very distinct in depth movesets
one of the bad things about mosnter hunter is everything ha s very distincti n depth movesets.
Rise made it even more complicated with switch skills and switch moves
😔
like Dual Blades has an entirely different aerial heavy style you can play
which is great, but like again, shit's complicated
...it does look very funny when you do it on the final boss of story mode
and go for a long long ride up their spine spinning all the while
spin spin spin SPIN TO WIN
wheee
hmm
i did get spoiled in #video-game-discussion that there are 4 (or something) more shardbearers gideon doesn't know about
wonder who they are
malenia probably
and maybe some of the other big names I've heard
maliketh, mohg
hrmm

guess I'll find out
:3
Jim from accounting, ofc.
@sour grail I wrote this up for a forum, but you might find it useful.
Defence stacking is hilariously effective in Elden Ring.
It's all multiplicative, which means while you can't get immunity to a damage type, if you cast something like Flame Protect Me?
You're taking 60% less fire damage than you were. You had 50% fire resist before, and you cast it? You'll take 60% less damage than you were at 50%.
A friend was having trouble vs a boss, so I came along to help out, and they were going what the hell as his fire attacks just tickled me - because I had 85% fire resist with everything up.
Just absolutely silly time.
HP makes that go further. Having trouble with a boss? Slap on Dragoncrest Greatshield, Crimson Amber +3, pearldrake +3 and the relevant Elemental resist shield. Put opaline Hardtear In your physick + Deflecting or Winged hard tear
Still having trouble? Equip morgot's great rune a and pop a rune arc. Cast golden vow (there's even a craftablea consumable version now, though it only lasts 45s to the spell versions 80s, and it's a slightly weaker effect. Still!)
Still having trouble even then? Eat a relevant pickled liver, or boiled crab, or cast the relevant greater barrier (these are all mutually exclusive, mind). Grab a medium shield with high resists and slap barricade on it.
This will stratospherally spike your effective hp and let you make so many more mistakes. It is hilarious just how much stuff will go dwoink off you with such a setup.
If you wanna know what buffs stack with what, Fextra has a useful resource here. https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Buffs+and+Debuffs
You can have one of each category, except for Unique buffs - these all stack.

that's a lot to take in 😌 I'll try these out sometime
does a Weapon Buff just mean any buff provided by a weapon, or a buff on the weapon?
Uh.
Yes.
Afaik, it's the latter usually
but there is some weridness
where unequipping the weapon can loose you the buff
eg various weapons have a skil lversion of Golden Vow
so it still coutns as an aura buff
and is mutually exsclussive with other auras
but if you remove the weapon, you loose hte buff

like the jellyfish shield buff
buh
I've been using the halberd to buff instead of the standard
guess it does last longer
oh!
oath of vengeance is a Unique Buff
that was what I was worried about here, but it's not a weapon buff
😌
oh.
that's what that hp down symbol in my buff bar has been from
this has been informative
crab is also good
||https://fxtwitter.com/elden_things/status/1810557182980546874|| elden ring dlc spoilers
That’s a dlc enemy!
banish winged to the dungeon, ten thousand years
🙈
But also, ||finally, winter lantern yuri. Or whatever you’d call the relationship between two horrible abominations that’re vaguely femme||
no-one else is actually pinging you about the spoilers you posted
oh!
I just assumed she’d tab back in after a bit ngl
good
one thing i noticed thats wierd about lies of p when i was going though ng+
is the number of souls needed per leveled up just stopped going up that much
i think around level 90
it only required 1 more per level
one thing i do say about lies of P is i don't recomend going the route of advance on a first playthough
or do, it's a very fun and distinct playstyle, just it might be harder to find weapons than for any other damage stat
yeah thats why i saved it for ng+
the other issue with it which is probally easy to fix is the advance crank should give a much larger boost to handles that arent based on advance
I'm leaning technique from what I've heard
i did str wierdly but still played a dodging playstyle
But we'll see! I'll probably stream my misadventures
i used late some sort of kurki like handle
i started with balance cause i didn't know what weapons i would find
you can also respec infinate times after a certain point in the game
which was another reason why
one neat thnig about lies of p is when you stagger an enemy for as crit its 100% time based so its absoutely possible to build to make that time longer os instaed of going for a crit you just wail on them instead
womp womp
me when I see a ping in a thread I haven't been in before
uhh the jump not the loaf
but yes yes
there's a tear for consecutive attacks
and another 2 talismans you can get to buff the attacks before the final one
cool cool
technically, mili's prosthesis is better
OH CRAP
i forgot to go find her in altus last night
but I was short on time anyways
||You also have to do horrible things to get it||
eh
||Which I have done at least twice||
well
maybe if she didn't have a good talisman
i wouldn't need to slap a bitch
cute and likeable characters shouldn't have good items on them
looking at you, alex!
Hold on, let me find the image Jane made for this
Here we go
Err... Jane's friend actually
love seeing alex explode during challenge runs in the first 5 minutes
like obviously he's gonna get hit
10% boost to skill damage
not finishing the quest for 5% raaah
hes one of the better fighters in radanns fight
love how he fucking ocmplains that he didn't do that much
that he cowered
when bro is spinning at him 24/7
what is this for?
him and blaidd are the best in that fight
millicent questline
can't wait for my Cemetery Knight playthrough 🙏
i really wanna know how the soldier ashes can perform

⚔️ 🐇
Nice!
That talisman is a big deal for caster builds as it's +15% damage on charged spells.
Works very well!

Doing more of my chill optimizer run
Castle morn, then on to stormveil!
fire club :O
120k
for black blade kindred
cool strat :D
oops
that's lore spoilers in #video-game-discussion
i will stay in here for now

Ending names: ||Huh, apparently the elden lord ending is less common than the Ranni ending||
people are simps
my first run was a ranni run, I think all of my two big tabletop groups' first runs were all ranni runs
simp nation
she has the cool sword!
idek the other endings
well i guess idk where ranni's ending stands either
i should play the game a lil more blind, I'm kinda torn because souls games are a bit more obscure with quests
but also playing totk completely without looking stuff up was great too

like going back to kale after hearing blaidd was not something i would've thought to do probably
She's also one of the few npcs you can commonly talk to, every other quest is wild
Anyone who gets that far into the game is likely to be a pretty dedicated player and thus find most of the relevant stuff and dig into it
Compared to something like Bloodborne, it's just a much longer game
Also just a much better pitch than the Fingers tbh
I still remember that first time the door opened, I'd uh. Really assumed the Two Fingers was a sort of title in the church
i wish something in the shaman village gave you a new ending
careful bout spoilerstuff
the whole ||grace of gold without the order||
you wont know what the shaman village is until you find it
tru
✌️
same
||Yeah, it's called Age of Order
whole point is that there's no order in the Golden Order||
need a hint?
You gave Cohryn the books?
You poor fool
I didn't give him any because the first i found was Godskin and in DS3 that kinda business made the faith teacher.. have a not very good time
so Mr Order i was like 'hmh'
god i remeber that
and by the next I found turtle and promptly forgot he existed
Dog ahead
My first playthrough I gave Cohryn a bunch of books and he promptly fucked off and I never saw him again

i remember giving him that one, called it a heretical piece of work and still taught me it
he then promptly fucked off to altus where i killed him so i don't have to go through "they're nibbling at me" 2: Corhyn boogaloo
not subjecting him to a fate worse than death
Liurnia
not yet (i hope)
i see...
in a place one might expect a pope even
Pope in the Pope building
(joke)

yeah i didn't explore much
s'a big place
not the southwest or the northeast
and has a distracting Dracula Castle
my friend found a tunnel to the northwest plateau
that's gelmir
lucaria has hogwarts but none of the bigotry
they beat you regardless
i didn't want to reference the cursed books
also it has those like spires that stick out from the side for no reason
'we want this less structurally sound, but gods will it look cool'
>:|a I thought it had some portions with pointlessly elevated towers but i might be misremembering
theres a portal in the hallway right before you fight that carian knight in front of renalla
look who it is
Cory in the Altus
THAT'S GOLDMASK??
THE EVER BRILLIANT
i guess it makes sense
Has the goldest mask ingame
buy what you can from corin and for now on give all books to turtle pope
you can do varre's questline for a farm spot
( in addition to ||filling your eyes with blood|| )
Incredibly boring strat, but if it works... XD
I. Hate. Elphael.
Okay i mostly hate the putrid avatars but also the gank squad chokepoints
time for fire
Putrid avatars are absolutely dumb fights, just because of the way their rot slam works
Where are the gank squads that are giving you grief?
Eh mostly the cleanrot knight chokepoints
the ones in the tree are in rough locations
i kept throwing myself at the early caelid one first playthrough so now i can do it eyes closed
I got around them by taking the low road but it still sucks for exploring
There’s also the crystalians and me not having many high level strike weapons
It's their slam that drops rot everywhere that can be an issue. Since you can have trouble seeing it and it does a bunch of damage
Hmm. For cleanrots, anything like giant hunt, stomp: upwards (I forget it's actual name), lion claw, crucible: horn can wreck them
Oh, I know, it's just still an obnoxious mechanic

I went from godfrey's grace into the city.
I explored the sewers and everything and helped 4 people beat him.
no dice on the next location
then a friend told me to go right instead of left at the grace

to climb the branches

woe, parkour in a fromsoft upon yee
i perfer the rot slam over the laser light show
i just saw the finger crones praying
went "cool"
then left
😭
crying
morgott cutscene was peak tho
did you find the big boss of the sewer
Fromsoft games do occasionally lock progression behind going to areas that in other games would have you go “oh hey the physics engine lets me do this, nice”
nah
i've heard that mohg was down there, i saw no entrances tho idk
whatevs
morgott first

got him to 35% ish
He’s pretty well hidden tbh
Doesn’t help that the sewers are a bit of a maze
yeah
a bit?
did you find the poopy man
no
i think the sewesrs is the worst area in the game
biggun
there are two paths from the start, each leading to different relatively important side quests and one of them also leading to progress
buhhh
and lobsters
A bit!? You understate

honestly i just recomend looking it up online
It's weird because it's got some pretty direct routes if you know where you're going
problem is it lacks landmarks
one of the few times prism stones are good for exploring other than ledges
I was playing with my friend, we've been doing ER hangouts since we got the game
and today he ran into a catacomb that I already cleared, so I had the idea for him to summon me
:3
it was really fun
and we did the black blade kindred in his world too!
close one
and apparently cooperators cannot fight enraged guaranq

Seriously seeing you post is very enjoyable about this
I'm glad my advice and streams seem to have been helpful too!
I died at the end of the kindred fight, but he finished it off with a stagger and visceral
still got my goofy goober rewards
4 playthroughs and all ||ranni|| endings

still don't have regular achievement
2 more things from last night
my friend got teleporter trapped from weeping to leyndell 💀
we got invaded during the black blade kindred, but the invader instantly got 1 shot by the big red wave attack (i thought invaders were immune to enemy attacks)
From what I understand, invaders aren't immune to attacks, but rather enemies don't target invaders
RIP justin
On that note, doing some more Elden Ring streaming.
Cant sleep? Stream elden ring!
Contiuining Undead Penguin adventures!
streemin
I might pop by on my break later
I'm thinking of turning the music up a bit, I don't really remember much of the boss music so far
it's either this or that invaders are immune to smaller attacks but some of the big AOE attacks will still hit them
i'm not quite sure which
watch rusty's ER trivia video at lunch
question 1 is already a lore spoiler 😭 my bad chatters
I will hold off until I beat the game
"damn this is easy, it's A
"
shock ensues
kinda funny
but yeah i'll chill out on the content consuming
whoops
I'm just a little silly :3
spoilers are a minefield
mhm!
i've had it hard enough with the DLC, i'm sure the base game is even harder
which is what brought up my whole line of thought yesterday with the wiki
cuz i got burned a lil with that
looking at the legendary weapons
bolt of gransax has a *
*Missable once Leyndell is covered in ash after beating Maliketh (or something along those lines)
oops :3
oops 😅
so yeah i am going to rely on people rather than the wiki for now
which is fine! y'all are very pleasant to talk to

yeah, it's fair because the dlc is out and the base game has been out for a while
but experiencing games is still very fulfilling for me, even after being spoiled
because the moment-to-moment is something you experience, and that's not really captured in spoilers (unless it's a big plot point, but even then the buildup and foreshadowing contribute a lot to the reveal)
Oh god
no no, there's a very simple explanation, you see--
Tres
Duo
Unus
NIHIL
NIHIL
NIIIIIIHIIIIIIIL
I'm still thinking about Morgott's intro cutscene

so cool
just the setting and his delivery
AND THE SWORD
if I don't get that sword I will riot
alright mf here i come
:O
interesting
😌
i might be a bit overleveled tbh
91
i played badly but won
dont worry
the mountains overleveled for you
its either fire or swamps with miyazaki
danny did you ever find the anti-rune loss tear
yems
just do damage tears AND NEVER LOSE
3 INT
whathe
😕
faith
if you need more fp for spells or weapon arts
you canput pots in mind
thjere is also a talisman that lowers costs
for both
two diffrent talismans
the weapon art one is gotten way ealrier
caelid colosseun runback kinda cringe
dont die
danny numero uno
and you no longer need vigor
didn't expect fell twins...
one thing to note is wait with lighting the forge
its a trigger for a lot of quest failure states
oh
ok
i'll continue ranni's quest
hmm
i guess i can ask peeps for pointers instead of da wiki
too easy to scroll 1 line too far
i did see that i can talk to iji for a hint
speaking of, blaidd mentioned a big blacksmith
i thought that would be iji
it is
oop
did you help blaidd with the evergoal?
blaidd did give me an area
on wait yeah oyu did doit
but i never really went out of my way to look
ye
if you talke ot ijji he sells a tialisman for reduced fp costs on weapon skills
are those for +10?
or i guess +25
i forget where she was going
i didn't end up giving her the potion
which is good
it was probably not gonna end well
@sour grail you're fine too explore the mountains and do stuff, even beat the boss, just don't do the thing after the big boss
It's a pretty obvious big trigger
No worries! It'll be a very "Are you sure you wanna do this" type thing.
More chill elden ring streaming!

||errands for the wifey||
what is this for
answer: ||ranni||
It’s for slaying fingers
wonder how you make one of those >:|a
✌️ or a Fingerslayer Blade
Blade and just being vague about weird storystuff
God I'd love to learn more about Nokron ooogh
You DO gotta wonder how you come across one of those, huh?
Especially considering the Nox and their, uh, relationship with the Greater Will
what's Nox precious?
(don't answer that if it's a spoiler or cool lore thing that I'll figure out)
(maybe it's those big skelly guys)
Nox what?
🤷♂️
ok I was asking what the Nox were
in nokstella?
what's a nokstella 😨
youll knwo when you find it
Nokstella is a location in Elden Ring (spoilers for it) ||it's a kinda underground necropolis thingy. Very cool, imo||
If you want into it: ||Follow Ranni's questline. She'll get you there eventually||

i've only been to the night's sacred grounds so far
in deeproot depths now
lost
:(
no longer lost :)
dang, fia just killed D

but i remembered the naked guy in siofra aqueduct, maybe he's the new D, haven't checked
I have still never fucking found that guy in Siofra.
he is the amazing un-findable NPC
No, i just walk poast him all the time
and I'm piecing together that godwyn was the demigod to lose his soul to the death thing
he's legendarily missable
and now fia is doing some goofy shit to revive him?
people just cannot fuckin find him
so i'm ready to beat her ass

Having just gone and found him, he's not moving at all, he blends in colorwise, he doenst make any noise untilk you talk to him
he stealthed
hmm
i see
he stood out a bit to me when i was running to the boss
maybe it was his reflection in a nearby puddle or something
but yeah easily missable
i got mind to uhhh
some amount
131 fp?
or 137
so 23 mind

better than 85
You can officially summon my favorite DLC helper! (My favorite Base Game Summon is still Lhutel the Headless. She's so tanky and can quickly take aggro, let me fire off a few spells before fading and letting me take aggro again for a bit, then we switch :))
Hi I'm here to respond 5 days later - if it's depth of combat in a soulslike that you're into, give Nioh 2 a shot. I've described it as a fighting game pretending to be a soulslike before because it truly is all about the combat. There are 11? Weapons each with distinct play styles ranging from "go nuts and be hyper aggressive, comboing bosses full to zero" to "stand still and charge your very heavy attacks, accepting that you'll eat some hits" to "positioning, mobility, and engage/disengage" and of the weapons I've tried, very few have felt bad. The game is also linear missions (for better or for worse) but it also means there's no boss skip cheese except just... Not playing side missions
I'm at the end of NG+3 at the moment and the biggest thing Ng+ has offered is demanding you truly master the combat, but I saw someone else comment that the massive hp pools scare people off and that's kinda true, if you don't really understand how to deal damage with your weapon the fights take forever
The issue with Nioh 2 here is that Ashley hates the absurd stat systems of most Soulslikes, barely tolerating LoP's, and Nioh 2 has the most absurd stat system of any Soulslike
The combat system is definitely fun but it comes attached to a lot of other cruft that I'm pretty sure she'd hate
pain
Nioh has a lot of stats yeah but at the same time most of it is ignorable and the game does an awful job of explaining anything
But like a new game player can just level Skill and Heart, even if it doesn't scale their weapon, and have a great time
It's a shame because the game is so opaque to a new player and so convoluted but behind that is truly one of the best and most rewarding combat systems I've ever played
The equipment stats are absolutely ignorable until like ng+3 it's just pick the highest number that keeps your armor set in your desired weight class
I refuse to play another game that requires me to have two plus additional windows open anytime I level up
Nioh throws a lot of skill points around so levelling up isn't that hard
The weapon and equipment stats look daunting but are very much for show until higher levels of play
That feels like.... bad design? Or maybe I just don't like the idea of mechanics that can just be ignored, ig
They get more and more relevant the higher your level of play
it's more that "they can be ignored until you're more comfortable with the game and stat system"
But at the ng+0 level, mastering the fundamentals of combat is going to go further than any minor buffs from your equipment
because they're not relevant until you've gotten far enough and gained enough experience that it's less daunting
numbers still help
Mystic Dyad can't even show up on gear until ng+2 and that's the most fundamentally game changing stat to see on an equipment
Mystic Dyad kusarigama 😍
This is not the selling point you may think it is haha
"oh it's so bad you can just kinda ignore it" makes it sound even worse
Alex is right lies of p is like on the edge of losing me with its stat system
And it's the simplest most straightforward one
:O
i might give her a spin if i find her ashes
Liurnia Divine Tower was cool

Yeah that's not a selling point it's a concession of the games flaws :)
There are a lot of things I dislike about Nioh but I keep playing because the combat feels so good to master
Fair enough!
Code vie ndoesnt have you level up any stats
you just level up in general
your stats are based on the class you have equipde which can be changed at any time
Nioh would be 200% a better game if they threw the itemization down a well
I can't fathom what they thought introducing Borderlands Looter Shooter weapon drops into this genre would do other than set up a bunch of pointless confusion and not being able to keep a weapon you find/like because Stat Stick Not Good
the game explains every stat pretty well, and the other tutorials explain everything, you can also easily craft most sets once you get their recipe, and anything not from a boss just gets unlocked over time.
But what does this add to the mix, what new fun thing does this inspire
it also has level matching
also doesn't the level matching cost more money than god
I'm just saying it'd be a better experience for me if the weapon types were just.. the weapon types
there's enough there to work with
level matching as in bringing a lower-level weapon up to your level?
to a level of a diffrent weapon
ah
i was literally able to afford it like twice, it's buckwild for no reason

its not really worth it a lot of the time unless you got something silly
this was what i had by the time i 100% nioh 1
forgot about familiarity
