Especially if this is like, the Blasphemy of the Erdtree region
Or I guess more specifically, Blasphemy of the Golden Order
What's the oppersite of Godrick...
Like just 1 hand?
yeah, and Marika was trying to break away from that stuff
Its just one of the chad Godrick Soldiers
Miequella to
like in the tutorial you enter to fight godrick and its just one soldier but all of his stats are cracked
Dragon head on lil guy body
It does Placidusax laser beam but like, the head swings around a ton
So it just goes everywhere
i gotta double check if theres any lore that ties miq and marika together, i know its mostly a lot of miq and radagon
I mean, he's her son right?
YeH
I think the story is all going to be about how whatever Marika's plan in dream land was failed
Maybe because Melenia was stolen, maybe for other reasons
...the lion-puppet
it's the opposite of grafting
Very true
but very similar
It is just multiple people in a costume (probably) rather than 1 guy with lots of limbs
The lion puppet also seems like an early boss
Like it's fancy looking but not like, lore wise significant or a high power level ya know?
Like the beast in DS1
yeah, it definitely feels like the DLC's vibe check
"you must be this tall to fight"
In order to reach the Shadow of the Erdtree,
Miyazaki casually confirmed that you have to not only defeat Mohg, but also Radahn. This has massive lore implications.
In this video, I offer a few theories for why you have to send everyone's favorite horse lover to the glue factory. For instance, Miquella tried to revive Godwyn with the Eclipse, ...
the end had me like Yooo
I never knew that about|| jerran||
You walk into the "fuck the golden order" realm, through the "fuck the golden order" Castle which will give you a vantage point of the land, then down an elevator to the "fuck the golden order" arena where they put on shows (guess what the show is about) and you fight the lion puppet whose part of the show
i would be down with Unfucked Radahn
and/or fate lore
Bros coming back to man handle the stars again
if you pick the ranni ending radahn comes out during the final cutscene and hurls you into the fucking sun
final boss 3 time
IIRC wasn't the point of Radahn stopping the stars that they were going to fortell his defeat? Since we killed him that becomes a bit of a moot point.
It was more about stopping the horrors that were coming to the lands between aliens 👽 no joke
Ah, it's kinda frustrating to be gatekept until you hit... Nokron? for your build to actually exist though, right?
Lightning is also a bit of a fucker for that (finding a suitable ash), but at least Altus is a lot more accessible
I kinda feel like there should be an "all melee armaments" ash of every damage type available within the first like, 30 minutes tbh (even if the skill is awful)
hm
never knew that if you weren't doing the ranni questline, you get a unique locked chest dialogue for the fingerslayer blade
"You are not destined to open this."
wack
Interesting
It's kind of neat
I imagine it has no lock but you just start sweating bullets and hyperventilating as you try and move your arms to open it
Like that one SCP that's a hallway people are psychologically incapable of allowing themselves to reach the end of
whatever his reasons, the effects are pretty clear: Fate was locked away from the stars
The conquest of the stars seems to have happened before the Shattering
I think I probably agree
it would fit with astrologer gear talking about how fate was "fettered by the Golden Order"
and Radahn seems pretty pro-GO as a political entity
idolizing its champions
First playthrough I did ranni's questline I bailed after picking up the Fingerslayer blade because it was a really
thing to want
I was doing it to get the Moonlight Greatsword cause you kinda can't not get the Moonlight Blade in a FromSoft game, ya know
I find it very hard not to take Ranni’s ending. That entire quest is the best and most interesting element of the base game to me.
its definitely a cut above in content
shame we're not getting a new ending in the dlc
I wonder if Miquella will recognize we're boning his step-sister
you might be
I'm boning Goldmask 😎
Hey so
are we supposed to understand her as just hugging us
Or is it like
Idk, more than that and the hug is just the representation of it
(By more I am asking if she sleeps with our character but if it is portrayed as hugging)
I'm inclined to believe it can be any act of physically intimate affection
Pretty sure it's just a hug
Given she's a deathbed companion
And the terminally ill seem like they wouldn't be up for a quickie
Yeah, its an embrace.
Like, "I am holding you and stroking your hair and we are experiencing each others warmth" style intimacy hug
its an embrace but theres some reproductive elements in her quest in the later bits
She definitely has sex with people as part of her job
If she does with you is open to interpretation
But “I lay with them” is clearly meant in a biblical sense
Especially in the later part
it gets funky when the mythic stuff gets involved but I don't think its too important tbh
she lays with godwyn, she has 'her child'
its pretty clear what you're supposed to take it as, regardless of how literal it is
So it is at minimum metaphysical sex during the later part of the story and may or may not be actual physical sex depending on the perspective of the player
Makes about as much sense as the rest of Elden ring! Thanks
I agree
I just gotta like… check with others cause I think it’s pretty easy to misinterpret or miss things in ones playthrough
I think the story answer I’m most excited to get in the dlc is anything more on Empyreans
since we’re going to where Marika ‘became a god’, and following Miquella, we’ll probably get something
Elden Ring: The Eldening
Elden Ring where you fight Elden Ring
My first theories when I played the game years ago were like
“Empyreans are vessels who can channel Outer Gods”
and
“Outer Gods are celestial entities tied to cosmic forces”
But like
The arguements a little too circular for me to out full stock in it now
Made a lot of assumptions, literally ignored Rykards serpent, etc
ooh, what're some good cross-nagi phys ashes?
sword dance is pretty fun
can't work out if I like the dual spear moveset or not
So I'm brainstorming a lil' bit and I could use some outside opinions: After doing a great Bloodborne lore let's play, I'm thinking of doing the same with ER. Thing is, I kind of want to put an identity to underscore the thematics of ER, but I'm not even certain what those themes are. The story isn't pretty complex at the end of the day (a succession crisis with external kingmakers), but I'm not really sure there's something ER wants to talk about the same way BB talked about parenthood and its dehumanization when used as a channel for power. There's the GW and self-deterministic angle, as well as destructive adherence to the status quo, but ER feels a bit more disjointed than BB. Or maybe I'm missing something?
sorry, what's the serpent have to do with that theory?
is it listed as a god itself, somewhere?
yeah lmao
But back when I was operating under “its all just outer gods” I was very much shoving things in
I thought it was only ever referred to as a god-eater, do you know where that's mentioned?
because I believe you, I just uh
do not know Snek Lore lol
the Fell God must be an empyrean because it must be connected to an Outer God because-
The Great Serpent is an odd little loose end in Elden Ring's worldbuilding
oh right yeah, the fell god exists
But I literally couldnt fit the snake in- its not celestial, it doesnt tie to empyreans
is that guy mentioned anywhere other than that one pyromancy?
Its clear that once upon a time there was something like a complex culture on Gelmir surrounding it but its been completely erased by the time of the games
Its not even commemorated as a defeated foe of the Erdtree
Im on phone so its harder to look up item descrips for quotes - I think theres a pagan serpent blade?
Yeah Serpent God's Curved Sword
oh, right!
And some of the volcano sorcs / rykards dialogue?
Like its hard to tell how much of what we know is about the original serpent and how much of it is Rykard's atemporal reconstruction
but I basically was ignoring all mentions of it as a god - the simpliest thing for my theory was that the serpent culture and rykard were just misguided
but like
Thats very convenient for me lol
The fact that Messmer exists only raises more questions
thats why Im leaning away from the neatness of “everything and everyone is an Outer God”
theres really just not enough information
and theres solid implications against
thats why I want more empyrean stuff!
oh yeah its mentioned that when Godfrey fought the giants lord, Marika fought its god
and the reveal in the fire giant fight is that the Fell God was sealed within / its power remains in the giants
oh, that's what the eye is supposed to be?
it makes sense, that did look like a ritual
but I never really thought it was an appeal to god
”Tricksome shield made from white stone depicting a malformed one-eyed god. The barrel of a firearm pokes through the open mouth.
Once worshipped by the giants, this evil deity is believed to have been slain by Queen Marika.”
- One-Eyed Shield
and then the pyromancy says that the “Fell god still lurks within the Fire Giants”
The finale of Elden Ring is so metal
watch a giant sacrifice its flesh to the fell god
then duel against the shadow of DEATH ITSELF, a legendary warrior from an age ago, in an eternal storm of a crumbling ruin
Then oil wrestle horah loux or w/e
fight a slug
I was just lore deranged the whole time
like no dungeon was ever disappointing for me because I would go “ooo new item description!”

I remember when I first found Elden Stars I went
”ah, thats the final boss then”
I like Elden Ring's ancient history being so obscured, that trying to fit the current standard of things to it crashes into so many contradictions.
Both the Golden Order and time itself scrubbed off the details.
mhm
it was really fun to nudge up against Proper Noun during gameplay and have that feeling the world was huger than you realized before
There's a lot in ER about two halves of a whole / flip sides of a coin and choosing those sides or trying to fit them together, imo; I also think ER has a lot to say about inheriting problems from the people above your station
like wtf is up with that palace ruin in liurnia
The one in the north west?
oh I didnt see this:
To me, a large theme of Elden Ring is the one explicitly spelled out by Margit at the start of the game - of ambition and the desire to change the world.
Yeah which is interesting in that he’s the only demigod who seems to lack that drive
Its notable that of each of the Tarnished in the intro, its Gideon - who thinks the quests impossible, and Godfrey, whos a prior king, who dont give a mending rune
each ending is a different Age, and with the demigods locked in war its the tarnished commited to a cause that have the power to change things.
Tbf he tried to repair the ring, its just radagons seal blocked the way
as a theme it cuts both ways
you need a vision to change the world, but some worlds are probably not desirable
Godwyns (incomplete) death, the shattering itself, the war that followed- a lot of people got hurt in the crossfire
the formation of the Golden Order itself
I think Margit tried a lot
He went from thrown away in the sewer to guardian of the city
He saw the way was blocked, and in doing so guarded it
And yeah he's very loyal to the golden order, or what's left of it
I really love the Omen Twins
And that's even with the same order wanting him shunned or dead
and their contrasts
the different directions they went, the way both of their stories are still about love
I see it as the classic story of something spurred or shunned for simply being who they are
You either reject it and strive out on your own, or you hold onto what pushed you away seeking affection
Well, guardian of an order that glorifies his degradation
Under his rule, omens and misbegotten are still slaves
That's what I said
every age also ends in the game
even when theyre explicitly eternal, or ageless, or timeless, or without death
He was wanted shunned or dead
It's tragic that he still stuck to an order that hated him
But there is a level of ambition and resiliance to do it
Eh, I interpreted it as more him internalizing the abuse he was subjected to
Which I also said
I see it as the classic story of something spurred or shunned for simply being who they are
You either reject it and strive out on your own, or you hold onto what pushed you away seeking affection
Which in the grand scheme of things probably meant he was the child who was least able to live up to his parents’ expectations
Marika seemed distant from most of her children
Yeah but we know from Melina she basically said “be ambitious or be kindling”
she doesnt have descriptions like her other half, of gifts and tutorship
Did they reject their omen children out of genuine hatred or because "it was expected"
and the echo yeah
It's messed up that they did it of course
No ones out here defending killing and enslaving and exiling people because of how they're born
She was the god - the one and only God - of the Golden Order. She was probably not as subject to outside forces.
It just seems odd to me to claim that Margrit lacked ambition
Margit is to me incredibly ambitious
“I don’t care if you commit blasphemy, just shoot for the stars and carve your own way”
Morgott: “instructions unclear, enforcing the status quo”
Tbf, the rest of the demigods fall into the same place as Margit
He rose to be the last, great exemplar of an order that had otherwise rejected and attempted to destroy him
Well, Morgott’s “plan” is to sit in Leyndell and prevent anybody from stopping the end of the world while his army starves to death
amounting only to sacrifices - the tarnished were called back to slay them
To be clear, we are saying Margit and Morgott are the same guy right?
Nah it's all good
yeah its just quicker to type on phone lmao
Just ya know how it is with this lore 😛
Totally
But yeah I think Morgott is incredibly ambitious, his ambitions are just fundamentally conservative and tragic
Hes the one sharbearer you have to kill to reach the ring
(He is also mostly successful in his ambitions - enough that he seems “redeemed” upon death)
Given how much he talks about he hates the flame of ambition, i’m inclined to regard him as either a hypocrite or a cosmic wet blanket
its an understandable position for someone who saw the shattering war
shit is fucked because people were fighting
his position will not fix anything now, but I get it
Yeah but he’s not actually doing anything to stop it other than keeping everybody out of Leyndell
In fact his own forces are slowly depleting and starving to death because they’e stretched so thin with perpetual orders to “hold the line”
The alternative in his eyes though, is for his god/parent and their entire way of life to die
That way of life should be let go so things can improve and change
But I can see his motivation
That whole “last of all kings” line indicates his endgame is to squat in the capital until the world ends
none of the shardbearers are doing too much right now to stop it
Especially given from his point of view, if someone does make it to the tree, the tree just blocks them anyway
Or that he is the last person alive to claim the throne via birthright, a throne that no one else can claim because the tree is shut
the last king of Leyndell, perhaps
Or, he knows the world is going to end and he's the last one who didn't betray the Golden order
Given his whole speech about how every other potential king is a traitor
(from his point of view, the golden order ending would be the same as the end of the world)
thats not even getting into Marika / Radagon and how they tie into ambition and hubris
(partially because its difficult to understand motivation or how split they are)
shearing Destined Death from Elden Ring, burying rites from the time before the Golden Order (including the Land of Shadow!), Radagons quest for ‘perfection’, the shattering + attempted mending of the Ring
they did a lot of bullshit
they made and broke the world
shoutouts to rennala being personally responsible for why raya lucaria and the carian throne didn't get crushed by the golden order
another good example of ambition - the academy locking her in the library lmao

I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now....
If airplanes in the night sky
i wonder what the new lord of the fallen is like
Heard good things
But also some complaints about… I want to say level design? From my souls friends who played it
like its worth it if you like the genre and have extra money, but got some jank
Didnt play it myself
Im waiting for a Lies of P sale tbh
theres an interesting angle to how Fate and Will plays into this as well
but Idk if I got it fully figured out myself yet
Theres a lot of vassals and using power for ones own goals
with the largest creative force in the setting, seemingly the Greater Will, just kinda
distant to the lands themselves
sent down Order but let the people there do whatever they want with it besides literally breaking it
Hands as what you use to touch the world, to enforce your ambitions onto it and cause change
the mentions of stars and starlight controlling fate, the puppet magic of linuria
Rannis quest to walk her fated path and bring about an Age of Stars
Marika's seeming ability to lay curses / guidance on people, inspiring them to toil?
Hewg, Fire Giant, her Soreseal, possibly Grace?
I still need to actually figure out the thrust of how I'd put it together
So from what i can tell Marika is essentially the representative/deputy of the Greater Will on earth, and as such is empowered to make statements in its name so long as her cosmic boss doesn’t really disagree
Marika is god’s mouthpiece, what she says goes, as long as god doesn’t say otherwise
And that's how you get Goldmask going 'uh giving this mean lady the authority of god is probably a bad idea'
Giving god the authority of god is also a bad idea
idk, I'm a fan of life, souls and individuality
not sure I like the vassal system though
yeah, thats the point I'm angling about towards will and fate
Marika was free to change the world how she willed - it made the Golden Order
the actual Greater Will seems very distant
would it have prefered Marika over someone like the Gloam-Eyed Queen as a representative? Over Malenia or Miquella, even afflicted as they are?
Even under Marika "The Eternal" Empyreans were still being born / chosen
its even ambigious how much the GW would care about Ranni's ending
sure, it hides the Elden Ring from the lands - so probably not its first choice, given its creation? Given the actions of the Nox?
but it doesnt remove the influence of the ring, just lessens it - Life and souls as still one with 'The Order'
and all Ages seem to end in time
Ask Elden ring lore guy Q&A
Oh so having played it a while back it’s not a bad game just a weak game. Its main issue is that a lot of the late game areas are so filled with enemies it just not good design or a fun time. It’s a better step in the right direction compared to the first game but completely stumbles in some major areas. One positive aspect is that the lore and overall story is pretty good an interesting and depressing setting. As the game keeps going I was impressed by how grim it gets. But it definitely suffers from poor choices in terms of enemy and boss design. Out of the many bosses I think 4 are objectively “good”.
One boss was so bad I gave up for a week it’s bed of chaos 2.0 levels of garbage 🗑️
gave the swordspear a go on account of it having nutty dex scaling
still waiting for the r1 animation to complete
any day now, Im sure
it's so short-ranged too
i fucking love the visual design
but it's a polearm with like
shortsword range
and its r1 is glacial
try the crescent moon greataxe
nah, not on axes rn
:(
Im doing dex
it's a dex greataxe
The cross naginata is a weapon with very similar scaling and weapon type but with a cooler better moveset (imo)
It's nuts
hmm, whats it like with Lightning?
incredible
my last playthrough was power-stanced crescent moon axes
easily my favorite so far
i've also done solo crescent moon runs
with just pure phys keen and dex/int
I keep wanting to try Scythe runs but Burial Blade lingers too powerfully in my soul
That said ER has some of the better off
right, gotta farm some of the ol' runes now that Ive got 2 axes
okay immediate problem is I have no good farming aoe lmao
forgot how "fun" Astel is as melee
i spent an incredibly frustrating 30 minutes on those goddamned valiant gargoyles and finally rushed them down with the power of unbridled spite
then today i remembered that you can, like, change weapons and use spirit ashes and stuff
@potent pewter
pain-peko
preparing my will rn
i fucking love this axe shape
it is my favorite :]

And now we wait
cmon, do something already
theres the early shattering one that got his ass beat by morgott
but it was before he got quite so huge
Was getting the itch to jump back into Elden Ring after watching some lore videos.
Problem: I wanna try out dual Reduvia daggers, but you get only one in a NG cycle. I've already got the one, but I will need the aid of a kind soul to join my world, collect it from me, then drop it for me after I restore my save file.
what do you play ER on? I can eventually assist if its ps4
Ah, that’s a great point. I forgot ER didn’t have crossplay. I am on PC, unfortunately
Idk what TZ but if you're available in an hour I'll be around for an hour or two
Word! That works for me. I'll be at 'The First Step' grace (where you walk out and first talk to Varre). We'll use 'Pilot' as a multiplayer password. Just drop me a ping when you're ready.
Sure, I'm probably a half hour or so from home
I'll probably just grab a Reduvia on a new char
And give that to you
Or look at my chars w/e level doesn't matter with p/w right
That works too! Whatever works best for ya
I've set a summon in front of Varre with the p/w
And I've a Reduvia in inv
Word!
Not seeing your sign. I'll try setting down mine.
I'm a massive dummy and forgot that Furlcalling Remedy was a thing. Thanks for the help. Very wild we got invaded right there
oh hey spot the reason I never play online
twink with dual Cold Cross Nagis and a rot pot
very original
Yeah, when the rot-pots came out I instantly went from 😎 to
I finally played Lies of P. Pretty good, though I would of preferred better weapon variety.

higher weapon variety than... lies of p?
the like ten thousand weapon soulslike
it's ||29 handles x 29 blades + 11 uniques||
Played or completed? Could just be from the beginning slice?
Yeah the weapons branch out as you go on
And you can get the objectively best one after the halfway point
Finally playing through bloodborne again and I'm trying to figure out what build to do
I'm thinking either str/arc so I can use the moonlight sword or pure arcane because it's utterly absurd
Main issue with pure arcane is it involves a lot of chalice dungeon grinding to get the right gems, but it also lets you do fire stake driver+oil urns
clearly the answer is just running a saw cleaver again
And doubling the damage of the most powerful attack in the game sounds fun until I actually have to do it
tfw the best weapon in the game is also a starter weapon and goes hard as fuck
but yeah holy moonlight sword run slaps
do that
I didn’t realize how powerful the saw cleaver was until like today
it's so busted it's unreal
i am a hunter axe stan though
it's like, an objectively inferior weapon by most every metric, but trick weapon designs fuck unbelievably hard
and i love all of them as my children
Going from a skill build to a build that used the saw cleaver was eye opening
It does have like double the rally at least
it's got good range and great rally!
and an excellent shift attack
and like
it's a good weapon
solid stats, solid speed, solid range
it's just that sawcleaver.mov is looming over everything
Yeh, though it's not very good if you're putting a lot into arcane
Most str/arc or pure arcane weapons can't use buff items 😔
nah, but it carries you to the good arcane weapons
how much gamer skill are you willing to put on
cause you have to do alot of damage while taking very little
I've already got a +6 saw cleaver/stake driver with full fire gems so it can't be too ba- immediately gets murdered by the horse
the charge can one shot on level builds
I’ve never gotten the hang of phase 1 tbh
Phase 2 I have a much easier time with, but I usually struggle a lot with non human bosses so that’s not too surprising
Okay so:
- an oil urn boosted stake driver charged r2 deals about 1500 damage to the first phase
- landing a charged r2 without whiffing is extremely difficult
- if I whiff a charged r2 I immediately die because it takes 150 stamina so I literally cannot dodge after using it
So that probably won't work
So saw cleaver deals ~200 damage, which translates to roughly 80 hits before he dies
I can probably deal with this, I’ll just die a lot before I do
Well I’m able to get to his second phase, and god I forgot just how cool it is
A whole new moveset that's very flashy but well telegraphed, the music completely changes and almost seems to be perfectly in sync with his attack patterns, and the cutscene is just great
Last time I played Bloodborne was also the only time I beat it and I remember ending up with a Str/Arc build on accident cause I wanted to boost the Amygdala Arm and ended up using it for mobbing and the Whirligig for big targets with that phantom larvae shell thing for a damage boost on the latter
Actually, that reminds me of something I really hope the DLC casts some light on. That being whether Radagon was his own being prior to becoming Elden Lord, or if he has always been Marikas doppelganger.
Whatever it is, it's certainly not as simple as shapeshifting, since I remember reading about them being seen at the same time.
The alchemical themes of the game would imply Marika absorbed Radagon to perfect herself and become a rebis, but those themes have been quietly dropped IIRC?
Dropped? In what way?
Like, it's mostly background vibes and passing references
Could be a magic god clone thing
Like an avatar, yeah
I feel that the themes permeate thoroughly through the game, from the albinaurics being homonculi, to the transformative nature of quicksilver. Gold representing perfection and so on. It feels very present.
True, but there's very little coming out of it by the endgame. It's hard to articulate.
Dark Souls is heavy on the cycles, the sacrifices required and culminates with its core theme: Link, or not? If not, what else?
Bloodborne the same, with the transformative effects of blood and lineage being everywhere, and ending with either severing or integrating the umbilical cord to sever or integrate your bond
Elden Ring feels similar to DS: there's cycles and sacrifices, but then the alchemy doesn't feel like it factors into it?
elden ring's themes and details are far more obscured, though
doesn't mean they're not important to the cosmology, just that they've been obfuscated and muddled
I would argue that the things important to the setting aren't overall important to the plot, which is more "fix the broken world" without intentionally diving into how and why
you have to look for that more
P much
Elden Rings main theme, in my analysis, is the idea of "Order"
What it means and how it affects the world. It is also the main point of the endings, the establishment of a new order, a new mode of being for the entire world.
Even in the ending where we more or less change nothing, death is reintroduced to the world after we freed the Rune of Death, which again is a fundamental shift from the ever boundless fertility that the Golden Order otherwise represented.
In that way, alchemy comes to represent the transformative forces that brings about this new order.
In this analysis, the Marika/Radagon rebis was supposed to be the perfection of the golden order, but because the two could not find harmony it failed. For whatever reason, Marika came to wish for an end to the Golden Order, whereas Radagon was firmly in favor of keeping it going-
(btw this is highly interesting to me since I'm still mulling what kind of character I would use for my lore LP, and the idea of a PC undergoing their own inner Great Work and ending with an union with [???] to form a new approach to the perfect rebis has been making noise in the back of my head for a bit)
theres a strongish 'living things' theme
life as something that wants to change the world?
gods, stars, law, crystals - all of them are alive in the Lands Between
Ended up beating him last night but I summoned two npc summons because while I probably could have beat him without them, it would’ve taken a lot longer
Managed to get him down to his second phase a few times solo though
I've been playing ER recently again
The build I'm doing is so funny
Quality Highland Axe (boosts roars)
Roar Medallion (boosts roars)
Alexander Shard (boosts skills, including roars)
Beast's Roar on axe
Spamming 'AUEGHHHH' until my enemies drop dead
Haha! I love that!
Would be a fun gimmick invader
Currently fighting my way back into the groove with Elden Ring.
Feels like every time I step away from a given FromSoft game long enough, I completely forget how to play it
Oh god I'm doing that thing again where I get halfway through a souls game and go "I kinda want to try a different build now"
~~Why does bloodborne have so many cool builds and why can't I do all of them 😭 ~~
so many cool weapons right at the middle/end of the game too
Yeah, the build I just switched to is a bloodtinge build
Which means I’m stuck with the repeating pistol until I can kill Logarius
On an unrelated note, who decided to make motion activated gestures a thing and why can’t I turn them off
First tried Logarius, he's easier than I remembered. Or the repeating pistol with bone marrow ash is absurdly broken. Probably the latter tbh
Bone Marrow absolutely does not play around, and wonder if it applies the damage amp to both shots :|a
i didn't think there were two shots, i thought it just consumed two ammo
Fun fact, there’s exactly enough bloodstone chunks available that you can get a +9 weapon before Rom
Though six of them are from the dlc 🤷♀️
Logarius is very parryable and that destroys his entire game plan then and there. Of course BMA helps a ton :3
On a related note, I am confused about when the game wants you to do the nightmare frontier
That places has shards, twin shards, and chunks and the boss drops a depth four chalice
With its size, it really feels like it's meant to do in two chunks, with the first shortcut being a nice stopping point.
Probably yeah, it’s just not very clear they want you to do it that way
my problem is he wont stop hexxing my ass
this isnt news but i love it still
https://fxtwitter.com/ZullieTheWitch/status/1772249137473339576?s=20
Sekiro really felt like a step up for FromSoftware's animation choreography, which is saying something, because it was already excellent even in earlier games. Giving similar animations to Emma/Isshin and Wolf/Owl is both narratively satisfying and such a clever use of assets.
@untold tendon we think
I knew this for Emma and ishin but never realized it for Owl, wow
clever use of assets imo
he hits you with ALL of your tricks
I forgot the biggest problem with bone marrow ash: it doesn’t automatically restock so you have to go back to the hunter’s dream to do it manually
also it’s expensive af but mostly the restock thing
time for hell
The rules are simple
No summoning
No spell weapon buffs
All damage has to come from the broken straight sword
Defeat all bosses.
I am allowing item buffs because they are static number
Spell buffs both ignore AR and use the spellbuff stat,so I could get 60 int and a +10 casting stick and use crystal magic weapon or something like that and just ignore the shit damage of the broken straight sword
fair
good luck
My Arcane build run started to really come online around rl50, running dual reduvias.
Took down Mohg, Lord of Blood at rl64. Now I’m practically flying through the game on the back of that trident.

More Rose playing bloodborne thoughts: why are two giant sharks at the bottom of a well harder than Maria
Rakuyo obtained (after like 20 minutes)
Truly one of the meanest little zones in Soulsborne
It would be a lot easier if the sharks weren't so hard to parry
I always mistime the parry and immediately die 😔
Which is probably why it took me like 10 attempts to kill the sharks, even with the shaman bone blade
Maria, on the other hand, is really easy to parry and took me like 2 attempts
God I wish Bloodborne was on PC. My console died years ago.
Honestly, the Rakuyo is probably the only remaining purpose for the Ritual daggers
It’s that and the shadows of yharnam basically
Heh, I feel the shades are too squichy to warrant it
(although it's fun playing bowling porcine, I'll give you that)
Bowling porcine?
Using the pigs in the last stretch after Micolash to charge into the Shadows and cause a three-way fight (or just to watch them wail on each other)
Ah, okay 👍
In other news, almost done with one of my bloodborne playthrough. Still have to kill Gherman then the orphan of kos and the moon presence but it's basically done
I forgot how fun this game was, my only real issues with it are that it's a bit shorter than the other soulsborne games (which isn't even that much of an issue tbh) and that some of the most fun weapons are only found really late into the game I'm looking at you bloodletter and rakuyo
I also forgot how much of a theme motherhood was in bloodborne, the final bosses include a Great One's stillborn baby's wet nurse, said baby's mortal mother, and another Great One baby. And the Moon Presence where you have to eat umbilical cords to fight, which is certainly a thing. And according to the item descriptions of said cords "every Great One loses its child, and then yearns for a surrogate", which is also certainly a thing.
Bloodborne is definitely trying to say something about motherhood but damned if I know what that is
Personal theory is that "Turning parenthood into a self-aggrandizing exercise is a horrible, horrible thing, for mother and child."
It certainly doesn’t end well for any of the great ones, their children, or the parents of their children
Unrelated, apparently 50 skill deals a lot of visceral damage
Didn’t even get to see Gherman’s third phase
i think about this video a lot

Well I'm almost done with bloodborne, I should finish up the last few bosses and then do some chalice dungeons or somet- ROSE NO
Why do I keep doing this to myself
transcend the hunt
i still really want "multiplayer chalice dungeons" one day
You know me talking about bloodborne would probably be better if I actually uploaded screenshots, but I both don't know how to do that from the ps4 and it is literally incapable of connecting to the internet so that unfortunately can't happen
yeah, for ps4 screenshots i usually have to put em on twitter first, im sure theres a much easier way but who knows
the real question is: whats your bloodborne drip
Maria's set usually
But before that, usually the black church set with gascoigne's hat and pants
gascan's hat is good stuff
i usually do immediately buy the gascoigne set i like the way it schmooves
Something about the drapery of Gas' outfit calls to me. It's so layered and heavy and unique compared to the Yharnamite looks
...oh right I was supposed to be playing bloodborne
Anyway, doing a strength/bloodtinge run focusing on the cannon, the most practical weapon in the game
At the point in the game I'm at right now, firing it with bone marrow ash costs a minimum of 4040 blood echoes 🙂
(5640 if I don't use blood bullets)
Also do not use the cannon if you don't want to kill npcs, the best set up for it without doing the chalice dungeons involves killing the chapel dweller and also sending Gascoigne's kid to be experimented on
I wasn't being serious when I called it practical 😅
Also killing imposter Iosefka before the bloodmoon and Adella if you want to use Oedon writhe to get free quicksilver bullets, which also means you have to kill Arianna if you want to fight the moon presence
The good news is that by doing this and using formless Oedon 1, 3, and 4 you get to fire the cannon four times before running out of bullets
...oh god post-Rom it costs 6400 blood echoes
shoulda taken roms assets not her echoes
6400
i haven't touched bloodborne in a few weeks >.>
i will finish it before i start elden ring
Woa is there anyone in here?
If so: what should i go for after i hit 40 vig and 40 end on my first ds3 playthrough?
more damage
80 in offensive stat
In ds3?
oh right, ds3 is 40/60, isn't it?
uh, whichever supports the weapon you want to use
if you just want flatly optimal, just go quality and pick up the sellsword twinblades
what weapon are you using
I should be checking this chat more often 😂 i'm using the astora greatsword mostly!
A mix of one and two handed
I was using the lothric knight sword before that, but frankly the extra range on the greatsword, particularly its r2 stab, is simply too good to give up
Uh, vs typical enemies that is. It makes a lot of encounters that were just ridiculously hard with the short range sword become a lot more manageable with the combo of high range poke and ultra wide AOE
Also i just found Rosaria's Bedchamber and holy crap cathedral of the deep might be one of my favorite souls areas
The weapon should note which stat it most benefits from in the info screen
S grade is highest, A and further letters are lesser
Yeah 😄 for context! i've played a bunch of the other souls games, i'm just finally getting around to this one
Wasn't sure since you were asking which stat
But the thing is astora GS looks like it gets A-S scaling with a ton of different infusions and stuff
Totally legit! Didn't want to seem like i was WeLL AcHSuALLy-ing you
Sorry, I just like being informative
But it's like...... the weapon feels so flexible idk what i want to use with it
I am going to give you a noogie until you stop apologizing for being helpful
Well I suppose the first question becomes do you use any magics or miracles?
Not so far, but i've seen a lot of annoying stuff where having a ranged option would be sick
Ranged options can also include bows and such
So if you have no interest in magic save for range it may be best to focus on Str or Dex so you can wield a couple useful options
Or find a ranged weapon with Str focus like a longbow
TBH I have not played DS3 but I have played Elden RIng and Bloodborne and Sekiro and beaten them all (Bloodeborne with a lot of co-op help since it was my first one) so I'm just going off of shared concepts I've noticed
The astora greatsword is one of the few weapons that works with basically everything yeah
There are worse things than having extra options, so at least it gives room for flexibility
Plus however you specialize can be used to inform build changes later
i.e. Getting the Darkmoon Greatsword and respeccing your whole build around it
Which is what I did
Which is better for utility in killing annoying encounters like dragons?
Magic
Bow
Pyromancy
Bows have pretty low damage but have a longer effective range than sorceries ime
Pyromancies are pretty short ranged so probably not those
Man the "multiple knights + deceptively thicc healer" combo in lothric castle is pretty tough
my solution is either run past everything, or blitz the healer
Yeah xD
I hate how close they always start the encounter though
It's smart design
Ok time to see what's past this fog gate!
Should i give the firekeeper the firekeeper soul?
Oh fun! Well first try dragon's layer armor
Looked like ornstein's set, but with an axe. Wouldn't put it past him to become a dragonfucker considering how lothric treats them.
65k souls for that pathetic showing? Jeez
yee
his difficulty ranges wildly
cause he can just turtle behind the shield the entire fight
WOW jeez the irythil knights are never fun to run into
get jumped
I opened a secret door in grand archives and got killed
dammit now you got me making a new ds3 run
im suprised it took that long
Bruh what is this fight
I don't have the stamina speed
Hm
Let's backpack grass crest
Urghhhhh
This thing has now killed me more times than any boss
Killed it!
No wonder it's the one that gives the outrider set haha
Yay and sage is dead
I looted as i went though
Okay i have cleared the grand archives..... i think?
I am out on the roof having murdered a couple gargs
But like....... where do i go?
Does this connect to anywhere else?
Aha
Found a triple npc gank and killed em
Once you get to the big bridge turn around and go to the tippity top of the archives
Oh! I will
I must have missed a bonfire
Went straight to lothric and lorian???
I found the shortcut at least
Walking into a boss on 198,000 souls and 2 estus like: homeward bone
Awww i thought i found a titanite slab
Alas
Are there any Luck weapons?
Only anri’s straight sword afaik
Anri? Damn i thought i was meeting all the NPCs
XD
Ohhhhhhh looked em up, guess i ought to go back to the road of snackrifice
man ds3 has alot of hit this specific spot to do any actual damage bosses
yeah XD
i took a break after dying twice to lothric and lorian, i got them down to about 25% on the lothric and 45% on lorian, i was anticipating bursting down lorian before he could resummon lothric but then i got wombo combo'd haha
sheesh
hmm i might respec for magic for ng+2
you can do it
breaks are good
I learned how to consistently make the spear silver knight on the anor londo stairs teleport
Turn your back to it when it winds up the high speed lunge stab, like if your camera isn't facing it
Often it will warp to directly behind you
Good for farming it and its friend quickly
Also what the fuck is going on lorewise in lothric castle with the angels and the winged knights
And what's up with rosaria's bedchamber and the grub people
Something to do with eternal life I'd guess going by the theme of the games
tdil that you can use tears of denial for cliff diving
Hell yeah
it has good infusions
5 tries total, hopped back on today and whooped the twin princes! It just took not getting wombo comboed by the little one's magic into death by sword and kablam
Phase 2 is interesting because i like the longer and more teleport-interspersed combos, but the magic just isn't super fun to dodge
I do love the followup soul spear thingy to the sword slam
ffs i just tried to ER jump
yep
noted
SL1, DS1, melee only: death counter is still only at 1 (died to rats in the depths due to hitbox jank)
Bosses killed so far, in approximate order that I fought them in:
Asylum Demon
Taurus Demon
Moonlight Butterfly
Belfry Gargoyles
Capra Demon
Gaping Dragon
Chaos Witch Quelaag
Ceaseless Discharge
Currently on the hunt for maximized knightly drip while retaining a fast roll. I need to go kill the Darkroot Basin Hydra so I can get the regular knight chest. Then I can make a knockoff banished knight looking set with the Wanderer Hood, Knight Armor, Tattered Manchettes, and Wanderer Boots. That shouuuuuld be under the 22.95 light roll limit with the heater shield and a 4 weight melee weapon.
Okay what are the mechanics of the boulder turning selector in sen's fortress lmfao
I walked up to it and rotated it to break the wall to free logan of course, then rotated it harmlessly to the rear. After that I looted some other stuff (shotel) and talked to siegmeyer
And then as i'm walking back up to it again it actuates and one shots me on the ramp leading out of the room with the manserpent that you follow downwards to find the mimic???
I thought once the player operates the selector the AI no longer moves it
Wewewew, well thanks lol
Well that's 4 kings done, i think i'll do bed of chaos next for the red chunks in lost izalith
I've been pretty low on humanity since i fed it all to quelaag's sister to do solaire's quest
Right now i'm rocking a +5 lightning battleaxe, next up is a +5 chaos morning star. I know the reinforced club is the best sl1 weapon but fuck it is SO ugly
Demon firesage has killed me twice now, more than nito or 4 kings
The combination of terrain that seems to prevent movement at random and the very fast staff swing with huge AOE magic blast is ass cancer
Lmao hitless on the 3rd run
sometimes a midboss just brutalizes you for no good reason
or a torch hollow for that matter
o7
maybe it's friede day
didn't realize how short ashes of ariandel is (unless the catacombs are longer than i remember)
nah its p short
it only got 2 bosses
of course theres 5health bars between them tho
this looks very rad
unfortunately i can't find any ETA on it being more than a demo
yee i just meant size wise, but i guess that's every area if you just sprint through to the boss lol
but there's lots of side stuff
i guess ashes just feels smaller since i just spent this playthrough combing every area for all the rings and spells and 100% stuff
but nothing in the dlc is needed so i'm just nyooming
friede has 3 phases and the graveyard dude has his wolf
even if it seems like screaming into the void you should update us on your progression
i'm gonna read it at the very least so selfishly i want you to do it XD
sure, just snagging some upgrade stuff
done fort faroth and just getting the stone bearing 1
once Ive done that Ill do fort haight and then go for the stone bearing 2
are you gonna use serpent hunter?
wasn't planning on it rn
sick, what weapon are you thinking?
i did my rl1 elden ring melee run with serpent hunter lol
or whatever that giant spear is
just the most basic shit
DK Halberd maybe?
i don't think there's a dark knight halberd equivalent in elden ring?
banished knight has a halberd right
dragonknight halberd
ahhhh
oh, just dragon apparently
dropped by the dragonknight
I do have the nightrider glaive, too
right, Margit time
so Im really bad at margit
right, stormveil done
XD how many tries
No comment.
Right, picked up Sword Dance for the glaive
just gonna do the first couple of bloody finger bits
up to +15, gonna do Raya Lucaria now
so that was a lie - I went and got stuff for +18 instead
I hate those wolf fights
They're quite easy
However
The moveset is sometimes just derpy and you take the most random hits
well I can 4 shot him
done
entering renalla room
ate the kamehameha
second time is the charm
even got a dragon summon
right, two shardbearers down, good stopping place for now
Turns out legacy dungeons absolutely fly by when you just point at the boss and press "sprint"
well i just got souls camera'd
i held up my shield
pressed lock on
and then immediately did a 180 to the enemy away from the big wolf
and died
alright, i finally got Elden Ring on pc since my ps4 is on its last legs. What are some fun builds to do to prep for the dlc...
If you want to speedrun ng+6, dual Staff of Loss with magic boosting items and Night Comet will let you easily massacre everything
night comet is very silly
funny enough ive never done a ng+ cycle ever, i usually beat the game and then make a new dude if i want more
Crucible knight is pretty fun
They have some killer weapon arts
And it seems important in the next dlc
And it's not like your lacking in str fth weapons
i do wanna do a faith/x build
i just wish all the cool faith weapons werent so late into a run
farm yoself a halo scythe
tree sentinel halberd if youre gamer
the twin swords the first grafted scion drops if youre REAL gamer
the confessor is good at the sentinel too
winged scythe in the peninsula
sacred blade is right there
scythes dont agree with me
sacred crescent axe 💪
the crescent moon axe?
thats... a drop right? iirc
yeah, from the big axe Exiles in Stormveil
i can spend an afternoon farming those guys, sounds like a plan
then ill just need to eventually get flame/sacred on it
both have super easy ash pickups
ye just gotta figure out which ashes i wanna bother with
you can have sacred within like 5mins of getting torrent
its one of the limgrave areas for the early sacred right? or am i misremembering
its been a year since ive done any runs
there are two!
golden vow and sacred blade
sacred blade makes a mockery of anything Death related
and deathbirds
hey the crescent moon axe rules
@potent pewter it spreads
this you?????????????????????????????
no those are the things it threw at me
got to friede, just gotta beat her
i can feel how rusty i am with souls, and how I'm getting used to monster hunter
😭

it is pretty rough
mfw when two werewolves

mergo's loft
why did miyazaki put a big spider jumpscare i screamed

that aside, i have
- 27 hp
- 21 endurance
- 26 str
- 25 dex
didn't level bloodtinge and arcane, so idk what to level now
i did grab the dlc
Probably more hp imo, dlc enemies deal a ton of damage
I think there’s a guy in the dlc you can kill for 5 blood vials per run
is it early on? i was planning to do dlc after base game
but i'm not even sure how close i am to the end lol
this is the last gravestone in the teleports, so i would guess close
You’re pretty close to end game yeah
^_^
There's about two more mandatory fights and two "true" final bosses after that
oki
He's pretty early on yeah, right outside of the first boss fight
ooh dang
I'll see if I can find an exact location in video or something
well if i'm this close i'll finish up base, unless i really need vials and cba to do the brick guy route
i think i got spoiled for the "true" ones, i don't have the reqs for one of them but i guess i could just go and grab em
Here we go

ty!!
well i know what they are, luckily didn't see the fights or cutscenes if applicable
Gherman doesn't have any requirements other than not letting him kill you thankfully
😩
o7
these metal guys are freaking me out a little, i don't think i've seen any passive npcs in a long time
Will note, bloodborne immediately puts you into ng+ after you beat gherman (if you haven't used 3 umbilical cords) or moon presence (if you have)
please don't jumpscare and gank me
aww wha
dang
ok i'll do whatever the normal final boss is then hop in the dlc
ty for telling me lmao that would be been a whole thing
It should be the boss at the very top of the area you're in right now, after you kill it you should see "nightmare slain" pop up
o7
ooooook
do not attack the metal axe robot or the mini ones will come
i thought so
devious
RAHHH i LOVE souls level design
just got 2 shot by micolash 💀
Micolash sucks tbh
ahh kos,
maaaaan
that aoe

90%

i didn't even pick up my last souls

should've done that first i guess
what
what am i supposed to do
ngl I've cheesed him every playthrough and have not regreted doing it once
i just put on some bolt paper and r1 spammed
he was trying to mash out of the corner
😌
y doll so eepy
Being a doll is hard work

get called beyond
did you just find it
good ol' "[CENSORED] face"
back to mergo's loft
i'll clean up the side areas before ng+
i don't even know many of em
except the names
have you found nightmare frontier
I love all the aesthetics they jammed into Bloodborne, still recall the first trip through upper ward
first floor of the lecture hall place
idk how to get down there
hatch right of the exit door
now hit the second pig
i think thats another game but yeah
RAHH
i'm killing pigs to raise my arcane to buff my weapons
instead of using the papers
honestly it's decent blood vials too
this thing?
we bear these mistakes for the next generation to not repeat
at least its not wasted on mlgs
oh does it have arcane scaling

oh i need 14
for mlgs

i should've put those 3 levels into arcane then
rip
well at least i have 48 hp now
That’s a lot of hp
yeah 😭 i didn't want to do str/dex past softcaps but now hp is only 15-18 per level
but with blood vials being %hp I think it'll be worth it
o7
may have gone overboard with the hp 💀
i'll add some more damage after 14 arcane
that was a fun boss
the most challenging and soulslike in recent memory methinks; mergo's wet nurse, micolash, one reborn, and rom were all sorta there instead of being a back and forth
finished eileen's questlije
somehow i ran out of boolet
i had 100+ once and was like yeah I'll never run out
time to run brick guys again
cuz wheelchair guy drops 4
