How unlikely is it for a Grey Knight to go renegade
Not fall to Chaos, I'm fairly certain that's nigh impossible, just go his own way separate of the broader Imperium
About as likely to fall to chaos, honestly.
Or just leave the chapter at all really
Makes sense
It hasn't happened yet, as far as we know
I think you're more likely to see them take a stint in Deathwatch than go renegade, and we haven't seen that either.
GK are basically the most Ride or Die for the imperium as any SM chapter can get.
(which is to say, probably the most brainwashed)
Yeah they explicitly get super brainwashed I think
Like as part of their everything better than a normie marine package
Yeah.
Also makes sense
They find the most psychically gifted humans off a Black Ship and then like 1% of those people become grey knights.
...though I did read that they're apparently marginally more cogenial to working with xenos than other marines, by virtue of "I'm here to kill demons, not xenos, if you can help me with that we'll call it even"
Indeed

GK kinda have one job and that job involves them basically not interacting with anything that isn't that job.

Today, Bricky and DK are diving headfirst into the new narrative campaign, "500 Worlds: Titus". The events of Space Marine II are in the rearview mirror, and our boy Demetrian ...
Woe, Titus be upon ye
lmao
great thumbnail
This is the other reason I feel like gk are weird as their own armies
Just fighting whatever
Kind of a shame that sm2 hinted necrons but never delivered, and Titus next war is against necrons
I suspect SM2 was gonna have a necron finale but they didn't have dev time/resources to do a whole new set of enemies
"wait, they already did this in Dawn of War"
And Rogue Trader,
Last Act Necrons seems common
They make a really good finale
I know it's because the universe is big and the timeline isn't advancing that much. But it is funny how people keep getting surprised by the existence of Necrons as an outside observer
Speaking of rogue trader I don’t feel like becoming that thread but
*necroing
||god im thinking about that bit at the end where you face off against the other versions of the rogue trader and it’s so cool||
That's when they turn to you and start saying horus
I really do need to finish that game
I don't think other games have shown the reality warping nature of Necrons to nearly that extent
Well ||C'tan specifically||
Yeah that one was good about it
Containment was failing on it and reality was crumbling
Late to this one but there’s one RG successor that’s entirely redacted and the Inquisition is unable to find a homeworld for, with a high rate of enrolling in deathwatch and psykers and silver armor
Literally just “Knights of the Raven”
May actually be grey knights playing hookie under 5 aliases
But yeah nothin official about grey knights defecting or renegade or falling to chaos or anything
Agreed although I wish we ||fought like an encounter with nids that aren't genestealers or orks||
Oh my god
Imagine an imperial world who hasn’t gotten an update on global news or dogma since before the heresy
Naming their kids Horus and lupercal
Alas, can only make so many models I imagine 😔
Or, rather, each Made Model needs to have enough of a presence in the game to justify it and they didn't want to make a Nid or Ork Dedicated Section
Maybe the dark heresy one......
For repulsors should I go with bolters+gatling, lascannon+las talon, or lascannon+gatling?
Finishing up my reaver squad, less blood angel bits for them, saving them for the Reaver-Captain and to sprinkle among the Legionnares
Dont forget the heavy intercessors
I will absolutely forget the most nothing battleline
Ill admit the heavy intercessors are my favorite space marine battleline option.
i dont hate em, they're not super competetive, but in the casual scene they can be quite stubborn on a backline objective
Theyre cool got beeg boltgun bang bang
they play nice in anvil too
Gravis heavy bolter fucks too
Man suppressors are cool for being such a rare model
Sm have like...
3 units that have autocannons
That i can think of anyway rn
Suppressors, predator destructor, and the astraeus
Dreads used to be able to take them
But I think only existed in model form from forge world
It used to be a weird dark angels only thing
Albeit that was a long time ago and it’s been retconned to just be one they used a lot
Yeah
Oh yeah 4 models, invictor too
The weird firestrike turrets also have autocannons
So they do
My god 5 models
I actually like the firestrike with AC
It's rules bad, but I like it
The firestrike is just a weird unit as is
Does it still have a 3" move?
I think something more artillery-y like the thunderfire cannon its riffing off wouldve been cool
Yeah
Minininigun
Man
Contempors can take ACs but I'm pretty sure they're legends for marines and are custodes only
I hope they manage to find a way to kinda make the billion space marine squads a little more distinct
Yeah theres several heresy/forge world stuffs
Aren't those assault canons and not auto canons?
Theres both
Uh the non relic contemptor that did exist for a bit could only take assault cannon or lascannons tho
Or was it multimelta not lascannons
Idk the one from the horus heresy boxed games
Betrayal at calth I think
Do yall think they’re ever gonna add crucible of champions to waha?
rapiers are so fucking cool
Yeah?
Sometimes just not everything gets adapted basically
is it made by GW?
I think theres probably plenty demand for it though
yeah but its also an end of edition optional rule so
I think it'll get added just because its cool but understandable if not
i mean he has a good track record for it, it just might take some time
depends how big demand is for it compared to how fast end of edition rolls around
Yeah that’s the main thing i think
It's fairly easy to find pictures of the pages online
Basically every big faction discord I'm in has them pinned
The real reason Big E hasn't been seen in millenia
They are very weird
You get 5 snakes and they’re all demons in melee
You have 1.5 real guns
You spend half your time off the map in tunnelspace
You have the stupidest land mine in the universe
You just described MGS
Playing them is hard because they have the same strategy they want to execute but how you do it varies a lot
They’re fun but they’re probably one of the strangest teams
https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/40mm-to-50mm-conversion-trays-for-tow Forgot I made these a while back. Figured some people might want'em for TOW.
Some conversion trays for The Old World to turn 40mm square bases to 50mm squares. A friend needed some for their rat ogres and I made these using OpenSCAD with the Parametric movement tray generator script.
There's two types of bases: one for 3x1 and 3x2, with the option for 10x1mm magnets for each set. These print out with no supports needed, ...
A friend is running a small KT game series that might combo with battlefleet Gothic
And I am thinking of either Primaris, Kroot, or Raveners
Though its meant to be narrative with named guys
So my friend was like "you cant play BUGS"
Maybe another team would be better haha
Though iirc lore wise Hyperadapted Ravs are pretty smart and independent
Yeah but I cant be stopped
From doing what I want
And I have never played tyranids in any meaningful capacity
https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/50x75-to-60x100-conversion-tray-for-tow And also a more specific conversion (plastic giant bases from way back when)
A couple for The Old World to turn 50x75mm bases to 60x100 bases. These are meant for the old plastic WHFB Giant base to adhere to the new base sixe for TOW. Made these using OpenSCAD with the Parametric movement tray generator script.
There's two types: one with a 10x1mm magnet hole, and one without. These print out with no supports needed, but...
Which army does a warhound titan actually mesh well with?
It doesn't really mesh well with anything. Nothing gives it rules and it's more than half your army in points in a normal game.
A cool one
I feel like the warhound is super undergunned
But that's kind of an "of course it is" comment
But it should absolutely have more secondary weapons
Are you the Primaris vehicle design team?
its just like its a massive titan with 2 guns and no point defenses
imo it should at least have chin mounted like twin linked multi laser or stubberso r assault cannons
It should probably have some anti-infantry stuff on various places, yeah
(I think big things like titans and possibly even knights should have subcomponents you could shoot at that degrade performance before outright killing the thing)
We know that Reavers and up have "ardex" guns, which are autonomous heavy weapons stuck all over the things
that would be neat, though doesn't fit into the current way the game works
they get stats in HH, although they still don't have enough of the things
and in HH a Titan is in fact an entire army with submodules that you break individually
"engine kill" is a whole mission type
reason i think multilasers or some kind of laser gun is just less need to think about ammo logistics and how they get there
Oh no way? That's actually super cool i didn't know that
Warhounds are simultaneously under- and over-gunned because those arm turbolasers are just monsters
they will eat entire tank companies but have nothing for a squad of marines right under their noses
although they are very fast so they're only "scouts" in that they march up to the nearest high ground, turn the entire enemy convoy into shrapnel and then report back that there was a regiment there and the location of the enemy titans is yet unknown
recon by fire on a gigantic scale
scouts because they dont sit above most buildings xD
in Titanicus they hunt in packs
you can overlap voids to get a stupidly durable warhound duo/trio and when they're depleted they scatter and go to ground
which lets them pop out in ambush locations and then last long enough in CQC with a line titan to bring it down
the default counter as a Reaver or Warlord captain is to melee the bastards since the voids don't protect from melee attacks
and a melee arm on a Reaver can just pick up a warhound by the neck and scrongle it
voids follow dune shield rules?
slow stuff gets through i mena
not the laser makes nuke thing
Titan voids are kind of extreme compared to the ligher ones you see defending infantry units, but yes
the more dramatic you make that threshold the stronger the shield is
if a jump pack squad dives into a titan void rapidly they'll trip the threshold and it'll just shunt them all into the warp
they have to brake as they drop towards it, which can be dangerous because it exposes you to the gunners and the defending troops
huh i wonder if veteran jump marines know the tricks of the trade to slow down and then mount the titan directly
they do
like sanguinary guard types and vanguard vets n such
Sanguinius once does it full speed but only because his precog bullshit told him the friendly titans would bring down the shield right before he hit it
regular assault guys prolly drill it but lose folks cause they're just a little too fast
his Sanguinary Guard squad are explicitly going "if you say so boss" but are clearly worried that dad is about to faceplant into a void shield and die
speaking of sanguinary guard...do they exist in any of the blood angels successor chapters?
Titanicus is easily my favourite GW ruleset actually, it's very clean and very evocative
they protect like sanguinary priests n stuff and leadership no?
reavers forever
and successors still like... are deep in the cult of The Blood
carrying around sloshy chalices of blood at all times
Ash wastes nomads painting didnt go great. Put the contrast paint on too thick
yeah
always thought their successors looked very similar to the original chapter thats why i asked
i love that!
like yeah its a bit thick and i dont know a thing about painting
but i heard of these ash nomads, and i just think the idea of someone actually surviving in the weird wastelands outside necromunda very coool
So according to poorhammer the newest data slate is probably the last one for this edition
That is the expectation
mhmhm
Wait is that seriously the void shields that every annoying powerscaler talk has been about for the last ten years of my life
“Buh wuh wuh wuh the void shieldddddssss”
Voids take as many hits as the plot needs them to take
sometimes they evaporate when you tap them and sometimes you put up a big one and suddenly it survives the planet being exterminatused
anime swordsmen are admittedly immune to any level of firepower as long as it's delivered by guns, we know this
that incident provided us with myrmidons going man for man with Sanguinary Guard while stripped of all their ranged weapons, which made all the blood angels guys really mad even though Sangy basically soloed an Imperator
the omnissiah creatred titans to be jobbers
they concentrate that fate into them so that regular folk might survive. Problem is the jobber-ness spread to the rest of the mechanicum
I think Khaine accidentally became a jobber because the Aeldari kept concentrating too much fate into them
Oh man a fucking motorcycle ramping off something and passing through the void shield at the apex of its jump
It it was i'm cackling
Yeah?
Tau can have some wild nonsense sometimes
Twin Lance probably ain’t even the issue when tau stand to still get bodied by ctan lmao
One phase armies have to stare down the two stage coinflips between ctan and the totally unnerfed triple landraider and dudespam custodes
I kinda foresee tourneys banning pantheon of woe the same way they banned mor dakka if thats truly all she wrote
a version of them exist in all of them barring maybe the flesh tearers
They nerfed draxus! Dudespam is dead /s
of just shooting their guns in melee
11th is almost certainly going to be revealed at adept adepticon in 3 weeks
Probably a trailer
Then like July release date
Everyone knows it's coming
Then like slow rolled hype teasers until release
And if their normal track record has anything to do with it, massive spoilers leaked 1 month before release
there's already rumors leaked about the contents of the launch box
We’ve seen rumors of a blood angels vs orks armageddon box, but I’ll be real. That art looked like slop
More consequentially at least there’s been some skullcrusher boxes printed with World Eaters as the army instead of chaos daemons??
Thats really about it
man is cult of the final day actually a good soup army
the wounds regen stuff seems like it could rule
Spoiler leaks, or a viral marketing opportunity?
Everything else, literally every other last ounce of it, is absolutely cranked
look GW 'leaks' do not have the potato cam energy
whats the combo with the neophyte hybrid again?
Benefictus w/ Inhuman Integration and a 20-brick, double laser double seismic double webber double grenade launcher and ditching whatever stupid sarge options you have for a 12th lethal-sustain shotgun
The neophyte burger order
jesus christ
Its a positioning game, you can put special and heavy weapons up front or over a wall to fire, keep benny near the icon at the other end of the block to deny tagging. Everybody else can respawn
how do the gsc feel about indirect fire shenanigans?
I don’t think they even have direct fire
There are two indirect weapons in all of GSC, one is a mortar option on ridgerunners
The other is Reductus Saboteur going "yeah I set C4 there an hour ago"
It technically hurts, but chip damage doesn’t really worry GSC since all our shitmen squads reanimate in command phase before battleshocks and scoring occurs, and frankly no indirect weapon left in the game besides basilisks risks damaging the others
And at worst, you lose 70pt squads that respawn for 2pts, versus eldar taking 1 damage and losing 35pt models
The beautiful thing is I run triple reductus and two mortar ridgerunners in Outlander Claw and elf players will actually cry at the table
;-;
I'm so happy to run twin lance into outlander
Makes me so much happier
Hahaahha
Longbois
Omg wait I just realised that modern skitarii are like
Pugs
10,000 years of tech priests making new initiates shorter cause they think its cute
except for that one who's got stilts
he`s cute in a different way
or is that one 30k?
Archeon of fleah
imagine if you could take a squad of the stilt guys lol
They probably would be 1-3 in the past tbh
How fanatical are the Grey Knights
Like on a scale of "Barely care about the Imperium's dogma" to "Black Templars"
theyre not crusader zealots like the bt i dont think
But also I guess quite into the emperor through their own traditions and maybe closer to the actual guy
While black templars are very influenced by the ecclesiarchy
Different flavours of bad dude obv
i think they're very dogmatic, but they're not very dogmatic to the faith built by the ecclesiarchy
they skipped the entirety of the imperial faith's rise to power by being on a moon that was phased out of time for that period
and they don't strongly interface with other imperial pillars of power beyong the inquisition and likely the high lords
Ye ye
Even by Chapter standards, they put in a lot of work to stand apart.
Also spent a lot of time hiding their existence from all but basically the Need To Know people of the Imperium.
they're dogmatic like an isolated monastery out in the middle of nowhere can be rather than mainline orthodoxy
They are there to kill Daemons. Their dogma is largely aimed to assist in that.
"Yes priest, I too am inured to the secrets of the Emperor, my faith is strong for I have read his book. The one titled '101 Ways to Kill a Daemon' and its sequel, 'Man I Hate Daemons'"
I mean they're all monsters in service to a bloating, rotted carcass of an imperialist and fascist nightmare hellscape, but I mean relatively the least shit
least shit is gonna be kind of subjective
They're ultra fascist super soldiers hell bent on carrying out the will of a bureaucratic system headed by a corpse
I guess the Emperor's ability to fuck with daemons was entirely separate from his atheism
ultramarines generaly give the highest population of citizens a more comfortable and purposeful life than pretty much anywhere else in the imperium; so by that vector, ultramarines may be the least shit
salamanders care about human lives specifically, on a personal level. That might qualify them for being less shit
The Marines Malevolent, because they remove you from being in the galaxy the fastest. 😛
I mean not necessarily, they might keep you alive for a bit as bait or something
Also, I've been mulling over some My Dudes backstory for my Blood Angel themed Reavers, was thinking they're led by a Sanguinary Priest who was like "I've figured out how to treat the Black Rage, we don't need to send my brothers to the Death Company" but the chapter was like "uh...no you can't and if you can, that's fucking heresy" so he took some of his buddies and ran off to the Malestrom
theres apparently a chapter called the mentors which mostly train other forces
lamenters might be considered somewhere on the less shit scale as the self sacrificing types
That just makes them like
Cia military contractor types
Kinda shitbags
Sorry to say
Now he's the leader of a warband going "oh when I come back with my cure for the Black Rage you're all going to look so stupid"
That sounds great
oh sorry i wasnt putting forward the mentors as a less shit option ,was just surprised to see they are a thing
Little splinter cult
they're absolutely cia contractor shitbag types
Thanks!
It's partially an excuse to have some of their pauldrons be in the Death Company colour scheme and also do some kit bashing with a Sang Priest model
Yeah that would be fun
I feel like running military training programs, despite being a thing the CIA did, doesn’t automatically make you a CIA shitbag type
Think I'm gonna call them the Black Chalice, shame the Primaris model doesn't seem to have a arm carrying the big cup
I think doing it for space marines as a space marine probably does though
But yeah fair
yeah its less auto and more like space marines are ultrafacists and bad dudes, so in all likely hood, when to do military contractor stuff, they carry on being bad dudes
I do kinda like the take that space marines occasionally are relatively good because they take the knight shit seriously instead of as millenia old propaganda
Which is a little bit what oath of moment explores
And then they get to face “You fight to save an institution that is not worth saving” Chaos guy of the week
ngl im a fan of tha trope for chaos renegades
that are not like full on spiky bits, wears flesh as cloaks for chaos
Same here, gives a bit of variety to the "turbo evil cause lost in the chaos sauce"
Renegades trying to talk about their economic anxieties while steve chaos in the corner is drinking blood out of a baby’s skull and saying hell yeah brother
Lion: Son of the Forest
I really liked Lords of Silence cause the Death Guard in that are just like "well there is one god, Nurgle, and he likes it when we spread plague and corruption, and why would you disobey a god?"
(One of the POV characters is a more normal chaos lord sentenced to the worst office politics in the universe)
Maybe if the Nightlords spent less time drinking blood out of baby skulls they could have some supply lines.
Reformist heretic be like "defund the space marines"
The supplies are in line with my raiding vessel's broadside
"And where would we put more ammunition? In the flensing hall? Be serious"
I thought the Night Lords preferred locally sourced baby skulls when they invade somewhere
The most "normal" a space marine gets is like esoteric knight monks with inscrutable politics
Marauding was a perfectly acceptable supply method for centuries 😌
It’s a supply method but it’s not a supply line!
Hehe true
I am not a slave to chaos - said while seething in chaos
Have you've considered shoving a greater daemon into the supply line to make it better? I got the idea from Peter turbo
Greater daemons are too powerful for the cargo haulers, we mostly use daemonettes
Look the whispered voices in my dreams have promised that subsides for small businesses will finally solve the mass famine in this hive! Every time I close my eyes I see spreadsheets
We tried nurglings but the emissions standards went through the floor
Daemon seller, I need your strongest daemons
Leading the underhive into blood soaked rebellion united behind non-partisan good sense politics
Favorite past time for the underhive, is this good sense politics group a chaos or genestealers cult
https://www.reddit.com/r/TheAstraMilitarum/comments/yw0bk5/scout_sentinel_i_mentioned_i_would_post_this/ Man, news to me but the new sentinel is a fair bit bigger than the old one.
Glad I printed one at 120% because the files looked kinda small.
real nice sentinel
I dunno if I'll print out an armored one.
looking snazzy
quite sure the aquilla is not in the right place on that one 🤔
That's actually where the assembly instructions on the back of the box tells people to place it.
Actually, hm, no yeah it goes on the front. Memory was fuzzy there.
But I bet it didn't fit properly because pewter is just like that sometimes.
woah, I have never seen that skull paintjob before.
Right? It whips ass.
Breaking News: Ork in the Wild https://share.google/Ee1XILKhcqiMyjakW
With more ork on the way?
Looks fucking good
Alt bayonets n shit
Or I guess that a combi rokkit
And the other a kombi skorcha
His grot is cute
got someone asking for 40k book recommendations, they said they wanna avoid trilogies and such for now(if its something like ciaphas cain where you can just read any of the books and be done with it thats also a welcome suggestion)
so they want just standalone novels?
any factions they are particularly interested in ?
they didnt mention it, let me go ask
they said: Sisters of battle and Blood Angels (they also would like to learn more about Sanguinius)
well the obvious is devestation of baal for BA
neat
I like the Celestine book
oh yeah! I forgot about her
and for Sanguinius well you got alot of HH and SoT books
fear to tread being probably the better stand alones even though it is part of the HH series
Thanks Fetus Thanks Penny
imma pass your suggestions up to them
also for some reason blood angels make me think of sour candy...
yay
The infinite and the divine. If it hasn't been already recommended
Twice dead king
What does this friend like theme wise?
im not really sure about their preference
they just wanna get into 40k
i dont know this person all that well
i just felt like helping them out so they have a fun entry point into 40k
will send them those as well
when is the new edition likely to start?
Weird to think about how I was here (and a lot of people) discussing this last time around 😮
Three years
Multilaser-y
https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/gadget/armoured-chicken-walker-jdteixeira-2 this thing doesn't have a multilaser. Or a heavy flamer for that matter, but I found one for that easily enough.
I've been futsing with it for the past couple days to make it more FDM-friendly, like combining the cab into one piece and doing some planar cuts. The legs aren't something I think I can make all that FDM-friendly so I'll just deal with the support trees.
Hmmmm
The caiphus cane books.I think are a good entry into warhammer forty k books
If they like funny little guys (smart ass, "good") or funny little guys (arrogant, evil)
The bellisaurus cawl and fabius bile books are good
Ay if anybody in the warhammer squad in here is around denver I’m goin to the colorado cup next weekend
Got a solid group from montana warhammer cultivation temple comin
Questoris-hime is so short compared to her cousins.
Almost as good as TOM CLANCY’S: Trans Daughter’s Maryland flag theme knights
Re Tom Clancy: I blame the man for breaking so many people's brains with his Bear and Dragon nonsense
Welcome to the knight Cafe type shi
Feels like a space marine tea party is fairly often.
@vital barn thought you might appreciate this description of a Fabricator General from a fanfic I'm reading
Bear and dragon?
Russia and China
The only thing I remember about that book is that a massive war starts because of abortion
In theory, what could a Rogue Trader who's secretly defected to the t'au do for her new allies
Trying to figure out what they'd have set my lass to the task of doing
Provide insight into how the imperium works
Create/fund/influence spies that relay info to Tau directly without you as a liason
Could be as simple as hiring people to find Tau sympatizers or people already doing business with them then sending money to everywhere around them so they do better and get more stuff to the Tau the imperium doesnt want to be shared
Funding areas with fringe groups of potential xenos sympatizers on worlds bordering Tau
Lots of smuggling, lots of sudden diplomatic gains as Rogue Traders are gonna be the ones to know better what’s under pressure and ready to flip
Modern CIA ass shit
Haagag
nice fucking shit
Had the cannon and arm 3d printed the rest of it was from combat force becasue it was cheaper
cool
so what imperium faction is your favorite
mine techpriests
second astra militarum
third sister of battle
and fourth space marines
i just find the sisters of battle interesting
they just have something about them that i prefer over space marines
i mean i like the superhumen men only army of them
but there's something about the adepta sororitas that i prefer
but the techpriests are still above them
Mechanicum is for heresy
mechanicus i meant
I mean that this is for hotuz heresy ahaha
ah i see
Guard
I love the endless hordes of regular people being thrown at the meat grinder until it breaks
brave men and women fighting the imperiums rightous wars
as written in the ttrpg book of warhammer 40k wrath and glory
"what doesn't die to our artillery
we will crush beneath the treads of our tanks
what doesn't break at our firepower
we will drown in the blood of our ranks"
Grey Knights
Big fuckin' demon slaying badasses in the SICKEST fucking power armor with the coolest mf helmets of all the Space Marines and also they're psychic space wizards
Good points
I think i have a few favorites, but my go to is space wolves. Why? On the surface, I enjoy the vibe of space Vikings. I also enjoy how in a galaxy of death, space wolves are a faction of sagas, destiny, and personal heroics. Then another layer down I just enjoy how absolutely absurd they are. Their elite cavalry is like an 8 foot tall super soldier riding an even bigger mega wolf, and they keep it a "secret" from the galaxy at large. And many of them don't wear helmets because they have such keen senses and I guess no one shoots them in the head
I also enjoy the sort of meta story telling element of how astartes already have tall tales told of their exploits, and space wolves fully embrace the idea of telling tall tales
i like how goofy and stupid the Wolves get at times
it's a good mix between "this is the coolest thing ever" and "this is beyond stupid"
They're one of the factions, like orks, where the comedy is still kind of baked in, as much as gw shaves away
mhm
cool
if you think about it grey knights are amongst the rarest space marines
first you need a boy that can get the geneseed
which is rare
then he needs to be a sufficiently powerful psyker
which is even rarer
we know
but still rare
i also have several ideas for a techpriest character in warhammer wrath and glory
perhaps an explorator or tech archeologist
or maybe a geneter
genetor
I will say that a contributing factor to this is just how many chapters decide to recruit from worlds where the quality of life is dogshit.
perhaps
and i heard the gilead system got a lot of them
So is it hard to survive getting all the space marine mods, or are you just expecting malnourished boys to survive multiple surgeries with not a lot of recovery time?
And considering the usual Imperial mindset, it's probably the latter.
Because you don't hear about the Ultramarines having a hard time getting their recruits to survive as much.
it is just be nature a very intesive set of surgerys and trainings
and they do space them out throughout your training/time as a scout
dang space wolves skip that, they load you up and then throw you into power armor with a chainsword and tell you to go sort yourselves out
"Oh good, you survived drinking from the wolf cup."
"you're a space marine now"
yeah the wolves kinda do in inverse where vets become scouts not neophytes
But yeah, Space Marine chapters seem to recruit from places where the population is going to have secondary health issues by virtue of being feudal or feral.
well stuff like that gets pruned out most of time prior to beginning accension
Ehhh, malnutrition at that age is going to have effects anyways.
Much less things like Baal's constant radiation.
i feel as though non feral world populations arent actually doing a lot better but generally have a lot less combat experience
also isn't there one chapter who keep their planet in a war to get better soldiers?
Even relatively sensible chapters like the Imperial Fists are recruiting from the Underhive.
like your normal person on a hive is malnourished and under sunned and over labored
so you might as well target the ones that are physically stronger/combat experienced
if your recruiting pool is like... uniformally not doing too hot
Or you do what Guilliman did, and just custom orient a society so you have that good recruiting pool.
its definitely the better way to do it
But most people are also not Guilliman.
And it still beats out the Chaos/Renegade approach.
a death corpse of krieg guardsmen would also be cool to play no?
"OK, time to steal geneseed and just make use of any proper malcontents we find on our attacks."
carcharadons are kind of inefficient, they go out and like raid an imperial world, kidnap loads of people, and just like
test those people
red tithe and all that
rebreather flak armor and special lasgun with luscious pattern thingie
and krak grenades
kinda depends on what you mean by cool to play
cause like... youre gonna be siege warfaring it up, which are horrific conditions
but they have neat gear
crusading chapters are kinda hamstrung by the lack of solid recruiting pool
Kriegers are kind of one-note.
idk
It is frankly amazing the Black Templars have so many.
i feel its what you make of it
and entrenchment tool aswell maybe
i think individual kreigers dont have like... much characterization
individually i mean
Idk if you've read it but the siege of vraks books does a great job at it
we know they're hyper dogmatic and have that imperial guilt upbringing, and see death in service to the emperor as like as good as it gets
Tbf the blood angels have a totally unique method for making space marines
That they certainly do.
Kriegers are kinda one-note but I think that note makes them very fun to put in Situations (normal human socialization)
and the horus stuff
You just put aspirants in the archeotech casket for a year and 20% of them die and the rest turn into bishi supermen
my boys got a bit of a problem
Honestly the 20% failure rate is the rad part tbh.
Impressively low considering the base material in this case.
oh i actually didn't know that thats how BA do that
Blood Angels get better success rate and cooler guys in return for them going insane at some point or going full vampire
Blood Angels are also kinda unique since their geneseed is like highly aggressive and works on anyone
Look, you commit to the bit.
Back before Sanguinius they’d straight up pressgang mutants and abhumans since they all come out the same
i appreciate it, as a space wolves enjoyer, i really enjoy the BA vampire stuff
cause its very silly
Indeed!
(They still did that after Sanguinius tbf)
Look, if it works.
that's pretty cool honestly
Throw that ratling into the coffin.
man i love Blood Angels
I wonder what the Iron Hand success rate is like....
Because in addition to the several invasive surgeries, they add on more.
They wait on those iirc
Makes sense.
Since there’s a ceremonial hand amputation at the end of the process for aspirants iirc
Which is the first step on the path of cyborging them up
throw ratling in the coffin, they come out handsome squidward and superstrong
Medusa is also just a hell hole which makes aspirants fairly survivable
I don't remember what the Dark Angel recruitment process is like.
they just go to planets and go "I'll take the big one at the back"
Don't even have the steady pool of a Fenris or Baal or what have you.
they try and go for feudal worlds that were kinda like Caliban
It’s pretty standard
They have a bunch of recruiting worlds the rock tours
And a lot of the gaslighting happens later
At least spreading it across multiple worlds is better.
my favourite Dark Angels activity is feeding Techmarines to The Rock
good enrichment for the whole family
do they still need to do that after vashtor yoinked it's core?
as i recall it was sort of important to The Rock functioning
so i assume so
The Master of the Rock is a variation of the Master of the Forge used by the Dark Angels. Ominously different from standard Masters of the Forge, upon ascending to this honoured position the Master of the Rock follows his predecessors by being permanently wired into the control system of the machine banks of The Rock. It is an important duty meant to placate the most important Machine Spirits, direct the maintenance engines and Warp Drives, and preserve the asteroids force fields. The previous Masters, whose bodies have completely withered, are left in place, their mechanical upgrades still working. Eventually they will be collected for display in the Alcoves of Honour of The Rock.
yeah genuinely unless they abandon The Rock entirely, which is fucking unlikely, i don't see how they could avoid having to feed tech marines to it even if whatever core Vashtorr took is gone now
great space marine enrichment activity
The previous Masters, whose bodies have completely withered, are left in place, their mechanical upgrades still working.
this is a funny line
Legs a'running
Sarlacc pit type shit
"just leave em there bro"
"Dude, that one's tap-dancing. We can't just stop the little guy while he's having that much fun."
i think i generally don't love the Dark Angels but the Watchers in the Dark genuinely elevates them several tiers higher than they would be without them
im contractually obligated to dislike DA as a SW player, but otherwise i think they're moderately neat
The less space marine they are, the cooler space marines become
say what you will about the dark angels but they at least gave us the fallen
I only care for one thing of the Dark Angles
Inner Circle Companions
my favourite Chapter is the Lamenters so i just hate Ultramarines
love me greatswordes
Slaughterhouse 3 never forget
i like the lamenters aswell
because of how they act
but also the imperial fists
my unmoving golden boys
Dorns boys are quite good
my first dreadnought i build was a brutalis pattern one
with power fists
meltas and the anti air gun
so what renegade of heretic legions are your favorite?
personally emperors children
and the night lords (those that actually are decent and still retain some of their sense of duty)
Alpha Legion, Word Bearers, World Eaters, Sons of Malice, Red Corsairs
I was a big fan of the soul drinkers for a while
cool
Thousand Sons
also cool
Alpha Legion, or is it? I like renegade factions that aren't associated with chaos really they just really disagreed with the imperium and their reasons weren't all that influenced by the warp relatively their heresy is 99.91% human
2nd place I'd say Iron Warriors, they're not loyal to chaos they just like messing with chaos and putting them in explosives and stuff
really hard to choose but I think death guard is my favourite, love to sculpt all those sores and buboes
iron warriors is probably close second.
you know, I think its a split with emperors children, bit sad they didnt give them as many options as in older editions with their new codex.
...wow this codex is even worse then I thought, noise marines aren't even battleline
also a big sons of malice fan, tried painting my army like them back in the days.
i don't care much for chaos
I think world eaters would be my favourite if they where lore accurate.
i think if i HAD to pick one, Alpha Legion or Iron Warriors
Alpha Legion's cool
Iron Within, Iron Without
i find the idea of following chaos to just be like, inherently ridiculous so i just can't be interested in most of the chaos legions
yeah i agree
Get in the daemon engine Shinji
Black Legion is a catch-all so in my head they're kinda just genericus
yeah
btw are Thousand Sons sorcerers like Ahriman in the sense that they believe themselves not in Tzeench's service?
They're traitors for nonchaos reasons
i'd be interested in the Red Corsairs
however
they fucked over my boys big time
so i want Huron Blackhearts head on a pike
i think it probably varies
but i imagine so yeah
i think they inherited a bit of the idiot ball from Magnus, plus Tzeentch would pick the guys who are self important enough to think they can outwit a god
again Ahriman did a spell and it turned all his brothers into fucking dust
and to try to solve it he cast the spell again
and it turned them even further into dust
so i don't have exactly a uh, high estimation of the Thousand Sons personally
Look, I read Storm of Iron and it was really fun.
i think its interesting tho, to see a Chaos Character who's actually seeking some kind of redemption in saving his brothers
big ups to the Rubric of Ahriman
makes his character feel a bit more deep than say
turns people into dust with great effect
So First place goes to the Iron Warriors, second goes to World Eaters.
"ah yes i just kill people a lot now"
i think character wise i find Fabius Bile kind of interesting
oh yeah, i agree on that as well
i sometimes see some bits of books he appears in and its often fun
Bills great, I’m still mad there’s no Gene Hound models or rules
They’d make a great kill team!
the god emperors strongest atheist
i find most chaos legions interesting almost entirely in the context of their primarch tbh
also in contrast, i dont find Kharn to be that much interesting compared to Ahriman and Bile
he was interesting in Horus Heresy at least
He has some moments, but yeah he’s pretty one note most of the time by 40k
same with his primarch i feel
I am annoyed with Fabius just because he gets so much screentime
he's got like three books of his own, he's in Cawl's book, he's in 5000 horus heresy novels and he never really does anything of great note in any of them except eat up page space
that's fair
"Bile is on Istvaan doing mad science" - yeah, we knew that, we didn't need to spend a quarter of Dropsite Massacre on it
his deal has been solidly established already and doesn't change, same as Kharn and Angron
both of whom have finished their arcs already
mhm
I want to be clear that they made Noise Marines good enough that they can’t be given battleline without breaking the game and I am fine with that.
I remember back in the good old days when even terminators could have sonic weapons 👴 /j
Don't get me wrong, I would love to see Noise Terminators and Noise Hellbrutes or something added to the faction.
I would even take a noise cultist at this point
Just a box of 28mm plastic metal groupies.
I personally think all EC need is unique termies instead of generic ones, and a few more of the universal chaos options (eg. Helbrute, Predator, Vindicator)
and WE need a tank commander
And if GW is insistent on keeping them melee focus, EC Multilator datasheet
(trying to figure out how to represent "fly" on a tank so I can use a bloodthirster rules for a tank commander 🤔 )
Re-added, technically, I remember them from back when
so 2 bloodthirsters + 6 predators (3 of each type) + blood forged armour enchantment is 1500 pts
and would cost me $640 unless I can get some second hand predators...
hovertank
ah yes, the grav-rhino, not sure how I could have forgotten about that one
They are apparently getting the new Defiler as an option
Well that's one more
Or find a place that prints FDM versions.
(or I guess check your local library, many have 3D printers now)
doubt libraries got them, also not sure how worth it is to even build a world eater tank company as a joke
I love how silly they get with the Rhino
Rhino, an armored transport, with the variant that just is filled with stuff for weapons and cannot transport anything is peak 40k silliness to me
I also forget the assault carrier that basically does the same thing and basically just becomes a full on gunship
Oh boy, you should look into all the M113 variants out there then
Shame we just don't have possessed vehicles Anymore
so teh generic mutilators, think WE will get access to that data sheet?
EC is one of the strongest codexes in the game tbh if you put yer noggin on, it got every tool it needs
90% of players quit just before they realize tech beyond “triple winged daemon prince”
theyre a very technical melee/speed/control army
i think maybe an issue with it is you don't get much build variety; but that same could be said for WE
DG i feel like you can actually play a variety of ways a lil
DG has a comically bloated codex, piss n shit flavor is GW’s favorite every time lmao
EC has a lot of good stuff though, they were deep enough into 10th they did things like give Actual Rules to units instead of stock index horseshit
I think votann is an example of a fairly limited dex that still enables a decent variety of ways to play
Votann, EC, GSC are all phenomenal ranges for how tight they are
You can use every part almost everywhere except a few very select stinkers, as long as you’re not hyperfixated on a What It Should Be
i actually bounce off of ec just cause i dont want to be that technical with them
i think they're real cool to think about
but i dont want to play em
the speed does appeal
i think they kinda lack, from a modeling perpective, nice, fancy centerpeices beyond fulgrim
i know fulgrim isn't like... considered a super strong primarch
but i think he's neat
Really depends what you mean by centerpiece tbh
I think the Lord Exultant is one of the best character models in 40k
But I’m also the freak who’s putting 60+ hours into a 32mm Primus
usually i mean like some attention catching, big base, large surface models
where a lot of EC models are more subtle in their differences and largely mounted on a regular power armored chassis
i like the standard chaos lord is up there in terms of generic characters
heavy metal perfection
Lmfao this is killing me
LMAO
Goremongers are among the most lucid and reliable of Khorne’s troops
I somehow don't believe this
Oh I absolutely believe it have you met world eaters players
What's the difference between Wyrmblade and Brood Brothers?
Isnt wyrmblade like actual gsc guys
Look i'm like the lampreys person but for crisis spam
Yeah because they're non-marine cultists they don't get the nails
It's just really funny that their leader is a guy who cut his legs off and stapled metal into his head
Wyrmblade is getting retired and relies more on having a few super survivable movie star agents and then chaff shitters sometimes with Funny Gun, brood brothers is a bunch of utility shitters that either synergizes off itself or backs up a Magus or Patriarch
Wyrmblade fully normal models—essentially a neophyte squad + locus, sanctus pair and kelermorph, while Brood Brothers is exclusively usable in killteam except for the broodcoven box character set

Anyone know a good stl for a Primaris apothecary backpack? I'd like to print one rather than buy a full kit for one
https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/chonky-gravity-biologist-with-a-pot-to-carry-for-sea-monster-box-keefpepper21-2 This should do.
UPDATE 6/17/24: Version 4! V4 is CURRENT VERSION
adjusted right leg and turned right foot outward slightly
enlarged gun holster
For now I have added the updated body as a part, and as a full model with base.
UPDATE 7/7/23: Version 3! V3 is OUTDATED
upgraded tools on backpack
straightened right arm
updated the pot that is carried
corrected cables...
Parts are separate too.
That's grand
I don't imagine most ladders could even support their weight
i know there's a bit in one of the novels where a dark angel goes straight through a set of stairs and gets stuck in a basement
a space marine therefore could not complete the Virtuous mission
and they have to get a techmarine to get him out while all his battle-brothers are losing their shit
Darktide Rejects W
a space marine could NEVER achieve the rank of Big Boss
If space marines were more common people would probably counter them with like pit trap over thin walkways that could hold a dozen people but collapse under an astarte's weight with a proximity melta or krak grenade at the bottom
And also very carefully none of them say he “fell”
i think this is done in remnant blade?
more or less
I would not be surprised if that happened in a Dan abbot book, the Emperor's strongest guard glazer and I'm all for it
It’s also really funny because it’s a Deathwing training op and they’re all super careful to avoid saying falling
Brother I attempt covert operations but the auditory emaninations of my substantial posterior signals my position to the enemy patrols.
mkoll does kill a dreadnought with exploding plants
Considering the wildlife in 40k that's not very surprising to me
Not sure what to do with this leg piece, its needed to fill out the model, but I don't want the Red Corsair mark 🤔 guess I could file it down, but worried about making the rest of the leg look crappy
Could maybe use some green stuff to fill the missing section instead...
Also the chaos termies are a bit too...chaosy for the vibe I'm going for. Maybe I should grab some of the new termies and use those instead...
Recommend chopping it and then using small amounts of milliput over greenstuff, it’ll respond better to further carving/filing/sanding once cured
finally playing Space marine 2 and my only real gripe so far is sprinting isnt terrifying
astartes is just my gold standard for a marine just fucking booking it
Like chopping the Corsair bit off or chopping it into pieces?
Choppin the corsair bit off.
The shape’s pretty easy to cut with an xacto and sand down, it’ll look fine even with a lil irregularity
Roger!
Pretty happy how it's looking though! Ishim, former Sanguinary Guard, late of Death Company, first to drink from the Black Chalice. I'm sure he still wears his helmet-mask for normal reasons :)
Also a legionnare, this old Sanguinary guard box is full of good bits
So. Unsurprisingly my tau nar crusade army got trounced
But it was to a very advanced death guard army
Who had their plague ability last 2 turns
have no idea what im doing but looking at an imperial knights army and just
souping in some exaction squads for some cheap infantry lmao
Imperial Knights is a chronic case of souping in agent squads
Honestly less than you'd expect
Yeah usually just one or two if they do
IIRC when knights is at its best they go less on the allies since you dont get the borderline Best In Slot of beasts of nurgle + nurglings or flesh hounds but also like
You sticky home objective on knights or you lose so ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Yeah you're taking like 1-2 squads of 60pt inquisitorial agents
Because they are as cheap as possible and not much else
For chaos nurglings + BoN is amazing and actually worth the points which is why you would see like 3x nurglings 3x BoN
Good ol 3x gatling despoiler, 3x karnivore, 3x nurgling, 3x beast of nurgle
I did fight a guy who ran three castellans and max battle sisters once
lmaooo
I'm a monster 1k points 1 knight defender and 4 armigers
How did that go?
Mostly for the 4 dreadnoughts with -1 damage
If you play knights at 1k you deserve prison
The only time I've lost at 1k with knights was against rogal dorn spam
I was playing battlesuit spam in reraliation vs CK wardog spam
ret [Tau Empire] - (1840 points)
Detachment: Retaliation Cadre
Commander Farsight (85 points)
Commander In Coldstar Battlesuit (95 points)
Commander In Coldstar Battlesuit (95 points)
Commander In Enforcer Battlesuit (100 points)
Commander In Enforcer Battlesuit (80 points)

Kroot Carnivores (65 points)
Pathfinder Team (90 points)
Pathfinder Team (90 points)
Riptide Battlesuit (200 points)
Stealth Battlesuits (100 points)
Stealth Battlesuits (100 points)
I tbibk this is the list for twi s
Oh wardog spam is a bit of a different threat than big knights
Imagine 4 armigers with -1 damage
hahaha
Are there any depictions of what it's like falling to the Black Rage, either first person or as observed by someone else?
Roger roger
I was thinking of writing a little vignette of my OC warband leader trying to treat someone with the Black Rage
Is mephiston still the only person to have pulled themselves back from the black rage on their own?
Actually, are there stories that show what it's like dealing with someone in the Black Rage, like the Death Company when they're locked in the tower? I know the BA Chaplains minister to them
I think so, that's part of his specialness
I know Astorath's job is to kill those afflicted when they're too far gone right?
Yeah, that's his job
Afaik yes
Astorath has fallen to the Rage but is able to control himself enough to lead Death Companies
Twin barrel lets gooo demolisher
theres a short story in the Armageddon omnibus that depicts a flesh tearer who has fallen to the black rage and his squad mate chasing him down. Gives you both POV's great story
Nice, I found an excerpt from it, interestingly the Black Rage'd Tearer starts speaking in High Gothic and the language of Baal, something he shouldn't know how to speak
10ft of range lmao, welcome back Deathstrike missile
good thing its not on a rotating turret
The tank is the turret!! Spin those treads and find another target!
The flesh tearers are a unique case where they kind of are constantly always a little bit angry. And that lets them sort of slipin and out of the black rage.
flesh "fuck it we baal we baal we baal" tearers
this is a pretty silly thing to give space marines I feel like
i do love Nassir in that sanguinus was like "yeah this guys a dick and i love him for it"
i keep this screaming maniac around for the vibe
I thought this was a copper meme before I noticed the extra s
GW decides Admech players deserce to auffer for rhe new models they just revealed
Technixally theres a charachter
Hahaahahha
it's wild
deff dread???
mega armour warboss maybe
no idea what this would be tho
Grot bike.
Yeah that looks like a grot on a bike
If it's a token for a bigger unit or just a grot biker squad I guess we have to wait and see
This better cost $60 lmao
Pls gw just give us a box with more than 500 pts in it
wow, that's fucking awful
?
It's a decent discount if it's like $170usd like a combat patrol, it's terrible if it's $215+ like some of the larger boxes
mostly I just feel like the gun and the claw are from the same unit so it would be weird for the grot to be something else I guess
is he on a hook?
looks a bit like side saddle too
could be meganobz
Would really amuse me to also see it come with combat patrol rules
Yeah and every so often you see grot gunners on another not-grot-driven vehicle
GW: Admech players hqvent been tormented in a while
Also, pretty each of those three models individually costs more than 60 bucks right now
Mechanicum stay winning
This new Admech box honestly would've been better if it was just 3 iron striders. Assuming the discount is nice
Legitimately if its a normal fucking combat patrol bundle its good pricing
I’d probably buy it so I’m not cursed with the thousand dollar vehicle pile
I just keep on looking at that lone ironstrider and thinking about how ridiculous the price to points value it is
Dude is probably dropping the value of the box by just being there
it's kinda gotta be combat patrol priced
cause comparing it to two tanks and two dreads and an upgrade sprue (sure, one of the dreads is monopose)
If it is it's probably fine but otherwise
it's not even funny
Like if it's $160-180 that's like a 30% discount from buying them separately but the pricing on things has been so ugugifnrhig that I'm expecting a $200 price tag
You know I just realized I like the dread with an onslaught more than I like the plasma just like i like the riptide with a gatling gun more
probably because more dakka
really curious about the sneak peek of the new ork gatling gun because it seems to have parts of a skull with teeth attached to it 🤔
Besst snagga deff dread…
snagganaut
also feels like the thing the grot is holding is a crank, maybe for a rotating gun turret 🤔
that could totally be it
Squig powered deff dread
like a giant skaven doomwheel but with squigs
I wonder if there is any mad dok out there that have figured out that space marines contains extra squishy bits on the inside and have tried to see what happens if you put them in a ork 🤔
Oh yeah I just now noticed both his hands were on the crank
I might be wrong, on a second look is it unclear if the grot is sitting sideways or standing on a uneven surface 🤔
or return of cyboars, cranking that hog
Theres a cyboar for the nob rider pretty sure
Slowly getting more confident in this. Still a lot of kitbashing but easier to make shapes out of nothing.
nice
The new Tau Heroes look sick damn.
They're pretty cool too with the melee stuff.
I'm glad fusion blades are back in some form.
Shooting as melee 😌
They're unbelievably cool. Also at 160 points I'm expecting them to be in literally every list for the rest of 10th ed
the pricing on Nekrosor, the Twin Lance and the ultramar auxilia does faintly remind me of the end of 7th where they brought out a bunch of new characters with random, incredibly cracked point costs on them because the rules would all be obsolete in a few months anyway
Cawl, 7e Guilliman etc.
How independent are the Votanns' Ironkin?
From my understanding they're about as independent as anyone else
Theyre just guys but they are like
One of several specific types of guy I think
Which is also true of meatkin
They're basically proper people, while the COG units are variably independent AI
They're independent enough to make their own choices and decisions in where they wanna go in life, I assume?
But theres nothing stopping them doing anything they get good at
Yeah theyre as much people as the meatkin
The new warrior prime didn't get the memo
Right
...moderately stupider question, is it possible for Kastelans to somehow gain sentience?
they run off punch cards iirc
so probably not
they don't have anything close to a semblance of thought
you code an order into it, then when it's done you need to take it out and put in a new one
Right
`The robots have a number of battle protocols that they follow, and every Kastelan must be carefully programmed for each new task, lest it simply continue ad infinitum with its existing orders.
It is not unknown for a maniple of Kastelans to stride purposefully into a lake of lava, or slaughter its way through a city even after destroying the techno-insurrectionists it was sent to eliminate.`
there isn't anything in there that could be gaining sentience, not even the most rudimentary computer or even just a brain of some kind
I assume "sentient" ones would have some outside intelligence using them as a body, as opposed to becoming their own beings
it would be a different story for other kinds of automata who have some kind of "brain" so to speak, the possiblity would exist in my mind at least
but Kastelans straight up just work on punch cards
Yeah like ur-025
...on the topic of the Men of Iron, what is it that makes them so strong, anyway?
They were just straight scifi ai
Golden Age tech as their foundation, and being smart as hell
also the tech level they come from was uh
Necron level
i wanna remember
when they were made Humanity was moving in hitherto unknown ways tech wise
Yeah golden/dark age tech is the black hole gun level of ridiculousness
both being just straight up unbound AI and also having obscenely advanced weapons and bodies
made them quite scary
I see
There's that one story everyone loves talking about where some Admech discover a golden age ship lost in the warp and the ai onboard was straight up magical with the crap it was pulling
The one that just fucking hates humanity after her crew got tortured to death by the Inquisition?
Unbound self replicating AI
Could work/fight/create 24/7 with no biological concerns or weaknesses and we're as smart if not smarter than humans.
Hrm
Are the Ironkin of the Votann made of the same tech?
Or is it not nearly as sophisticated?
Unknown
Shotguns are a melee weapon when you think about it.
But most likely ironkin are literally men of iron but men of iron kinda just refers to all cybernetic life
Kastelans can sometimes develop their own weird intellect
All of which was proscribed regardless
Ah, I see
really?
that is actually shocking
how the hell does that work
yeah, they're smarter than they look
In addition to robots that belong to certain Forge Worlds, there are also "itinerant" Kastelan Robots that are older than the Imperium and some call no single forge world home. Bands of these machines may appear in battle and join to congregations of the Cult Mechanicus to help them. This phenomenon is taken as a sign of great favour from the Omnissiah. Itinerant robots allow themselves to be directed by local Tech-Priests and fight on until the battle is won. After that they dissapear as mysteriously as they previously arrived, perhaps for centuries at a time.
Ranged weapons that shoot in melee would be a nice thing to be like
A keyword
Would be nice to have stuff for close ranged combat other than assault
Thats kinda more like pre kastelan
I mean I guess there’s melta but that’s way more of a specialist thing
that is exceedingly strange to hear about the punch card powered robots
there's one in a short story that eventually becomes smart enough to autonomously defend its injured datasmith and drag him away from all the bad stuff without punchcard orders
Though I think even modern robots can kinda eke out some sentience
Cawl and his definitely not AI
i guess you could go "muh machine spirits" and all that
