Idk
titus second company captain now
you know what
unfortunately its a way different angle so it makes it hard to tell
What happened the old guy
good to see him
captain titus now actually doing captaining
Everyone “oh great more ultramarines” till the titus namedrops 😏
I mean I'm still not pleased ultramarines get ANOTHER thing
but i guess you where right, this looks pretty equivlant to the size of the new characters
Theyre much bulkier too
i would be more annoyed but im happy that dogshit model from a while back is dead properly
oh god more of them
Their suits are called warmakers
oh fuck
Oh shit
more ultramarines 😭
the auxilia are neat though
shame about these giant guys in front
auxilia thats acutally rad as fuck
I can't see the new guardsmen
Ultramarine marines
Ultramar becoming its own faction really isnt gonna help the imperium secundus allegations
Aww are they just hanging out in one squad
I will be honest, sorry Titus but you are not cool enough to deserve two models in quick succession
they better get their own separate codex and stop powercreeping regular marines istg
also yeah
I have the other titus model purely as a base for a conversion
Okay close enough welcome back primaris lieutenant
Good day to be an ultramarine liker
are there bad ones?
you can rip em apart and make em minotaurs
so they blew up the Guard officer of the fleet and so on and now the fucking Ultras get them?
No
rude
they have to have their equal attention release, can't have other factions getting more than them
lotta squishy in that command squad
I dont think its really an equal attention release when its just a straight up ultramarine wave
hey, I like a command squad that actually looks like a command squad
rather than five shitkickers and boss
my boys with [precision] are BARKIN
Like theres no one else getting more attention for them to need to equal
The only news is that the wave isnt over
yeah that's true
But there’s dozens of extra factions
Pff
2 as in the 2 character kit shown above, or did they get more than the twin lance
clearly we need a lot more titus models because there's only two of him
2 models in a box
so far they can only have three detachments
Ultramar theme for the end of edition thing isnt awful
Titus A, Titus B and Titus A and B
Technically the twin lance is 4 models
Sticker based campaign system…
ashes of faith flashbacks
Oh cool so people who want to game can actually access these rules and not just scalpers
I mean realistically there wont be scalpers for just books
Im just really salty about ashes of faith still
how? i have a rpg game starting in a sec so i cant look at the stream.
They have two drones with twin pulse blasters
(Breacher shotguns)
Necron dinosaurs
I do like that model
Ophidian character basically
shame that they've done nothing with the tyranid theme of this edition since the leviathan box
Wasn’t pariah nexus in 9th
aye
No
with da cowboy
9th was arks of omen
was it end of 8th?
pariah is 10th
end of 8th was awakening
no custodes
Psychic awakening right
huh
reminds me of floaters from xcom eu
So if chaos gets its big thing at the end of 9th and necrons gets its big thing at the end of 10th maybe tyranids will do big things at the end of 11th
idk it's weird
I don't love the constant ultramarine releases when so many factions need refreshes on core units (devilfish/hammerhead mold is straight up becoming unusable very fast)
blame space marine 2 for that one
I think they look better in the long, hanging robes than when they're flared out like the guy on the left
it gives them this cool tallboy outline
they got thigh high boots on
I kind of love the rifles but I hope they're actual armour-piercing
if they're photon or lightning they'll do fine
if they're volkite, less so
it's also weird the skitarii are their own faction with one leader and one infantry unit so far
like why not fold them into taghmata completely??
yeah that might be jank
lorewise it makes sense, ruleswise nah, just make them part of mech
they got snatched waistes
I think theyve made them primaris terminator sized
like weirdly thin hip to waist thing going on
Yeah
they've also done two kits. for the weapon options
rather than the upgrade sprue?? which is so odd
They might do both given thats what theyve done before in heresy
someone has pointed out that if you cover up the helmet they do look like frogs
admittedly this is true of most terminators
but I think I might stick with my Lernaeans
I can give them a boost on a rock if necessary
yeah they're too spindly
The drum bolters on the breachers is very cool
yeah I might steal their guns to arm my banestrike snipers
drum mags for combi-bolters
I honestly think the old cats looked fine with a tiny spacer in their waist next to mk6
But they’re making them the same size as primaris which is way too big for heresy imo
Alas
They might not be quite that big idk
luckily if you don't want to use stock cataphractii in Heresy you have plenty of other options
almost everyone has a unique legion elite terminator
it feels like every time i see a new 30k design im a little less interested somehow
im dreading the mk5 refresh at this point
not a new design
a refreshed one
these are probably my favourite poses from the new Skits actually, kind of extending the line of the body down with the cloak makes them feel more proportionally tall and odd rather than like normal humans on stilts
I'm sure they'll fit in well with Thallax Gang
I don't really like the posing on the big boss, although he looks better with his claw
Claw pose is nicee
wildly flailing stuff everywhere looks bad when you're that long
but the claw is sexy
I think his weapons will end up on a thousand converted magi
Oh they snuck a boarding actions supplement in with the new campaign stuff
I think they'd look great as a melee unit with like. sicarian infiltrator power swords maybe?
and stubcarbines
yeah, I was hoping for a melee altbuild
but we'll see what we get
to be fair 30k mech can actually melee
I kinda feel like these guys arent weird enough for the ppl who want titandeath core but that might again be like the overly sanitised eavy metal style
I agree, infiltrators are cool
and these will look great as skirmishers thrown up between the vehicles or battle automata
which is a job thralls don't do sexily
thralls are good little zombies but they're not pretty
the beige cloaks aren't doing them justice tbh
this is definitely getting me further towards wanting to collect 30k mech
I actually like the tan on them, I just think they need to be more fucked up
get some grime on there
I wanna see them with hoplite gear
and give them glowy barrels
I think that could look pretty cool
I do think they'll look amazing around Mechanicum armour
look at the front cover of the book, they fit so well next to the Triaros
But hoplites already look cool so
looks like they've put down a bunch of alphas
I see a hydra on the front cover
maybe both my 30k armies will be eating good
obviously no models but sometimes tacticia books include stuff you can convert
The fact that they didnt even manage to make vehicles for every core gang and yet are coming out with yet another cops and dorf release is hilarious ngl
Must be really popular cause feels like hive secundus etc got dropped
Tomb king taking over one of the most important hive worlds in the imperium is cool though
this guy looks very funky and also like the paint style absolutely didn't do him justice
I am looking forward to blanchitsu takes on him
also hello again Balthazar Gelt
I’m gonna make the greatest fucking conversions with this baller
Wait is Titus a fucking Captain again?
he looks sick, strong candidate for a Lacrymaerta techpriest too
Damn thats cool
Fantastic amounts of Fucked Up Guy
for about 0.1 seconds I thought this guy had a nametag reading OZEMPIC
which would have been funny for the new slimline cataphractii
but no he's just a bitter boy
Ohh they like kept the bow legged pose
Oh my God Titus is a Captain again that's so fucking stupid and funny
Instead of making them wider and have normal legs
Oh my God Acheran fucking died offscreen or something that's amazing
played one of the new games of Zone Mortalis and died in a tragic fall
Wait why are terminators 6-12 now
Wuh
possibly it was because a Spartan Assault Tank carries 24 and they count for 2 each?
Land Raider carries 12. so it's well sized for the available transports
meanwhile the Night Lords can go 5-20
I have yet to see anyone run the 20 termie deepstriking blob
ULTRARELEASE
not even a calgar on bike
no fuckin jump calgar or even a calgar in phobos
I have never despaired more than playing necrons in 10th and yet. They are trying to drag me back in.
Kit bash the Comissar and Soulblight together
Fuck that’s sick
I love how hes just got a normal necron face
in the world of inconsistent scaling, arent custodes terminators supposedly able to facetank shots from a titan
it is mentioned that they can "stride unharmed from the blast of a macrocannon shell" but that's just a generic term for Big Gun
so I'm going to assume that means "being near it" rather than "being hit in the face by four tons of face-hardened steel moving hundreds of feet per second"
just goes for a ride, dusts off and walks back
mechanically of course that's not hard, just make your invuln 4head
has to unearth themselves after being looney toons'd
YEAR OF CHAOS
year of chaos was for sigmar
what with skaven and huge ass lizard mounted demon princess person
Sometimes custodes terminators be like kratos fighting the colossus
thats a great idea
I will say I prefer the 30k custodes termies
partly because they're fucking massive rather than Custodes with squarer shoulders
do they look more like the classic art with the like big poofs of hair and claws n such/
HELLO I AM NOT A DREADNOUGHT
claws are an option, although sadly they are not the coolest design
im a fan of these looks i think
they're definitely closer
All custodes are beautiful
the power talons are sadly boring straight claws, if you want the cool pincer claws you want Mech Ursarax
or Raven Guard
i couldnt find the full version of this art but i always think about these
Aquilons are essentially tied for the title of "heaviest infantry in the entire game" with Word Bearers daemon saturnine and Mechanicum myrmidons, all at roughly 85pts per model and 3-4 wounds
Myrms are a little squishier but have way bigger guns
Ive been thinking of getting a 30k custodes tank and calling it a Dark Angels relic tank
30k custodes are generally more interesting as far as I can tell, partly because their invulns are worse and their durability in other ways is better
so when you hit them they do bleed
lore wise, teh acquillons are tougher than the more modern ones, or because its all auramite, its the same?
no idea, they've never been in the same book at any point so there's no comparison
I believe the Aquilons are more about being a huge weapon platform, whereas the Allarus is just an uparmoured regular custodian
same spear/axe
whereas the Aquilons have giant doomfists and heavy guns
it's the usual weapon pick for them
Custodes aren't the best at handling hordes
and they're good flamers
is there a particular time period that they switched types?
i dont think we're told
no, they just don't acknowledge any of the heresy stuff existed in the 40k books
gameline segregation
Touys logic
there was this brief 2-3 year period after HH7: Inferno where the Custodes list was Forge World's baby, and you can really tell the difference between their view of custard creams and the heavy metal/mainline 40k version
produced all the tanks, the Aquilons, the Custodes-specific dreads and the longbikes
30k dickbikes look a bit silly but the rest are very distinctive
I dont think I've really thought about the dissonance before but yeah
custodes are one of those factions that i feel like shouldnt actually have tanks; but at the same time; they actually ARE a completely independent and autonomous fighting force
there's two different Lord of War custodes gunships and I could not tell you if anyone has ever played one
Air transport makes sense to me
I want one so bad, its so useless
I think they could have stopped at the Caladius and the flyer
fast ground transport, good air transport
but it makes sense that they have cool cars
Forge World gotta go for the big stuff
It literally carried my builds in AoD and 8th
yeah its a thing to me that like, speeder bikes, ways to deliver themselves make sense; but heavy armor? Doesn't fit the vibe for me
Custodes needed a delivery system badly and that was it
their heavy armor should be the supposed like 10 telemon that are supposed to exist
oh yeah and that era also spat out the heavy bolter custodes
Executed for not drinking enough blood!
Admittedly the idea of a commissar failing to notice his ig squad is a bunch of brainless skeletons is very funny
which I do think are kind of cute in a digimon-evolving-space-marine kind of way
the other heavy armor should be their big flier yeah, that makes sense to me
man with gun, sister of battle, space marine, custodian with large dakka
sagittarum
I like the red and black
"rattle head, you are guilty in the eyes of the emperor!" Blam
"Now get back in formation."
whats the deal with the sagitarrum btw?
banana with gun
are they just members of the companions who like guns real good
yeah that
and not their guardians spears
the underbarrels are some kind of super-mega-DAOT disintegrator gun for killing big boys
but otherwise they just have a deluxe heavy bolter and the power knife
yeah the custodes get special laser weapons that only they get (tht arent that good tbh)
oh so lore wise they're meant to just pop bigger problems
lorewise they're just the ones that like to rooty tooty point and shooty
but they do get Adrathics
ahh ok
I remember them always being in a weird spot as far as shooting
Big Tactical Marine
the most tacticalist marine
yeah they've always been odd units but I like their drip
Custodes always got high damage big shooty stuff, but never in enough volumes to matter
I really like this scheme on them, too
breaks up the pile of gold a bit and makes them look nice and snappy
Like these guys on full auto are just 3 heavy bolters, which is kind of not much unless youre mopping up guard, but getting in a shooting match with them as custodes is a losing battle
Yeah I always thought the gold rattlecan treatment was kind of dull
i mean, lore wise, a heavy bolter is a very effective weapon against like 90% of the targets you'll encounter
I distantly remember the 1e era of Custodes when their faction identity was just "busted" and they had instant death lascannons on everything that wasn't a guardian spear
its just that mechanically that's not the case
but since then their shooting has been very much secondary
sagitarum gaurd has been good
there are more of both than there are GSC players in my state I am so tired of them
sometimes
these days in HH their adrathics are the anti-terminator guns, they've got decent strength and fire rate, AP2 D2 plus what's basically Lethal Hits
occassionally
cause like, a hb will answer soft and medium targets readily, and a custodes can just jump on something heavier and rip its access hatches off their hinges
My experience of playing them was mostly like "haha 4+ invuln unless you drown me in dice none of this matters"
more often than not i would then be drowned in dice
Yeah I have not even looked at the new custodes rules, if there are any
2-3 shot S6 AP4 D2, underbarrel is 2 shot S5 AP2 D2 autowounds on 6+ to hit
and you can fire the adrathic on the charge
current custodes are decent statwise but limited by the fact their placeholder rules borked their scoring
most sagittarums also have a misericordia right?
the butterknives have ap -2 in 40k and its very funny to smack people iwth em
they're all Vanguard so none of them cap worth a damn
all
is that just free kit yet
which is effectively a whole ass sword in a normal mans hands
they're very well equipped
good
let me find it
i wonder how much a misericordia would go for if you could even find a buyer
its a power sword
that they hand craft and all that bullshit
and theyre gene locked and all that bullshit
the custodes novels got into this a little
the Misericordia is only half a weapon, it lets you do this when an enemy unit retreats or runs from you instead of consolidating
"he insulted the Emperor's drip, get his ass"
lol historically accurate
oh which ones? I read the one called like shadow throne or something
its traditionally a weapon for killing downed knights
twelve custodes dogpile one guy and gigastab him
a knife only for jumping mfers
watchers of the throne
if you have eight Custard Creams and you manage to rout a Primarch guard, you have a 1/6 chance of oneshotting him
their misericordia is pretty much a bollard knife or rondel dagger; its just comparatively massive
on the front of the book he's reasonably handsome with a silly haircut, but his model makes him look a bit frankenstein
Yeah i remember he handed his to aleya cause she needed a weapon, but he was also tracking her with it
Its meant to mercy kill a guy with two feet of bone and muscle to punch through
main downside is that you can't actually use the misericordia as a normal weapon, so Sagis punch at flat
i might have a spare fw bare head I could swap
Custodes are getting a real book at some point next year
so current rules are just a placeholder
these guys are cool but sooo fiddly
i do think my favorite guys are the pistol shield guys
their dreads are really fucking good now too
because the Custodes army rule is a) never run, even if you fail morale and b) Eternal Warrior 1
so your dreads reduce all damage they take to 1 min 1, which is great, and they're all 4++ with WS5
in-world the telemon is like... the most rare and scary dread there is
best dreads in the game besides the Mhara Gal
and maybe the Saturnine dread in the artillery role
it has comparable guns and cost to the Telemon
there's like... less than 100 prolly
"less than a handful"
the telemon is so cool
I have probably killed more Telemons personally than actually exist
xD
one of the codexes estimates that the Custodes had 100 dreads total going into the Heresy
across all chassis
i want someone to make an animation of one chest-blocking a Knight like in Gurren Lagann
Btw a telemon gets spanked by a knight every time dont try it
hard to get mortally wounded but not dead custodes cause they cant be hurt obv
they actually run out of dreads in the first Val/Aleria book because too many guys get bloodthirstered
Valerian notes that they put his bro in a dread ahead of the queue and presumed this was a political favour
im guessing in reality as far as lore, a telemon can prolly lay some hurt on a knight given the right scenario; but couldn't go toe to toe with a knight houses lance straight up
30k telemon is going to fuck up a knight
way better save, comparable weapons, vastly superior weapon skill
he'll be lucky if he lands one good hit
i just remember in 40k it was a losing argument both at range and in cc
30k knights are more gun platforms now
also hoping those get a proper book later because they are a little jank
my general thought is anything short of a titan, a telemon can probably give it a run for its money, lore wise
the winning armies from the 3.0 transition were Marines, Mechanicum, Solar Aux, Militia and half of Daemons, the losing armies were Talons, Knights and the other half of Daemons
and given the right conditions, a titan is probably not able to ignore one either
Talons are due a real book soon, Knights might just be a little sad in melee
they have good guns but they do not want to be reaper chainswording anything
unless it's a vehicle
so their melee is mostly fists/siege claws that you run at land raiders and such
the main downside to the otherwise amazing Telemon is that it's Heavy-typed, so it kind of waddles
it's Grandpa Fuck
can't Run, 7" move
the most bang for my buck i ever got from one
was deep striking one and then making an 11" charge on an Exorcist
Goodbye Horrible 8e Sisters Doomstack
one of two reasons Custodes are sad this HH edition is that they can't deep strike
which is just... what are you doing there, writers
only the transport can
can't deep strike, can't cap objective good
if those get fixed in their proper book they'll actually be pretty scary
its too bad the sisters are like, kind of pointless
I'm honestly pretty okay with Custards being on the sidelines for now
1e/2e Custodes were literally game breaking
ostensibly they should be shoring up the custodes problems but i remember them just kind of being overcosted for their niche psychic shit, and being like Bad Marines mostly
Absolutely stupid army
valdoooor here to burninate the thunder warriors
Krole is actually fucking huge
she's 125pts and she's a very solid sidegrade to Sigismund in a duel
I know someone who had their entire sisters of silence army rendered unplayable in the new edition
definitely hoping they get something with the surely upcoming Talons book
best value duelist in the game end of discussion, there are no competitors
and their dune worm transport is cheap and effective
unfortunately basic sisters just kind of don't do anything
Krole is terrifying, she costs as much as a basic legion praetor and she will put that guy in the ground in one round without even trying that hard
Sigismund has maybe a 40% shot at beating her and he's twice her points exactly
unfortunately regular Sisters are more expensive tac marines with lightning claws or flamers and that really doesn't back up a duelist of that magnitude
even when they do have a highly effective 120pt assault transport that any other army would kill for
sounds about right
yeah so they need some fun new rules or something
idk what the deal is in hh now
Can she pump to WS7?
no, but they have the same stats in every other respect except she's faster and can lock down Finishing Blow
at which point her sword kills him in two hits and he kills her in four
because they're both EW
he hits on 3+, she hits on 5+, both crit half the time, fight's a coinflip except Krole probably goes first and can use her gambit to guarantee she does if it's a nailbiter
honestly if their swords weren't literally 10pt lightning claws they'd immediately be fine
but yeah, wait for new book, hope they get a real melee squad
This is all assuming she makes the Challenge
one decent melee unit immediately catapults all their units to B+ or A tier
its been so long since theres been a new custodes unit at all
because the assault transport and the god tier characters are both dependent on having good squads to run with
and the last one was a stupid character
yeah, in practice it's probably going to whoever charges
god challenges
some people really hate 3e challenges for some reason, I quite like them
they're not hugely deep but it's fun to have moves beyond "now we sit down and autoattack for a few rounds" in the big duels
and it lets you write stuff like Perty's "fuck it, shoot him, I can't be bothered" order or the Night Lords gimmick where they just grab a random tactical marine and shove him in front of Sigismund because they know where the wind's blowing
Nostroman Courage is the funniest gambit in the game
"congratulations, you're the new Praetor, it's only a brief appointment"
And maybe one of the best
NL can just opt the fuck out of challenges with barely any penalty
Which is very in character
yeah, the way the challenge rules work actively encourage you to find the weediest shitmarine possible to sacrifice there
because the reward for winning a challenge is proportional to the number of wounds your opponent had
ive been trying to hunt down a particular line from the night lords trilogy and its killing me
so Siggy hitting an endless sequence of tactical marines does next to nothing and Sevatar cleaving his way through Templar Brethren is doing a lot
talos or somebody is saying like "yeah my brothers are going to run like cowards at the first sign of trouble but that's just how we do things"

'Oh,' Xarl chucked through his voxspeaker. 'You must be very proud.' He tossed something round and heavy onto the decking between them both. It rolled to knock gently against Tolemion's boot. A helm. A Genesis Space Marine's helm - the eye lenses put out, the faceplate smeared with blood. 'You'll scream just as he did,' Xarl said with a smile.
The champion showed no reaction. He didn't even move. 'I knew that warrior,' he said with solemn care. 'He was Caleus, born of Newfound, and I know he died as he lived: With courage, honour, and knowing no fear.'
Xarl swept his chainsword across the scene, gesturing at the prone forms of First Claw. 'I know all these warriors. They are first Claw, and I know they'll die as they lived: Trying to run away.'
lmao
they're such a bunch of little shits, it's great
as my a friend of mine says, we love a guy who sucks
the fun part of doing that move in the actual game is that Sevatar has Fear (2) so if he kills a whole two models then it's very likely that the enemy Primarch or whoever is going to finish challenging Night Lord Redshirticus and then immediately find his entire squad running the hell away around him
at which point he has to follow
same for normal Night Lords characters except they're slightly less spooky
I mean theres defijitely monsterfuckers working at GW right
NL are sleeper one of the better legions imo
they have a lot of character
They have really nice special rules and respectable units
yes
Terror Squads are kind of eh but everything else they have can throw down
Iron Hands get like thirty pages in the latest Drop Site Massacre book, which I feel was kind of mean
instead we follow Fabius Bile, he of way too much goddamn screentime, for about a third of the entire thing
I am starting to get annoyed with Fabius the spotlight hog
fucking chaos soaking up screentime in every setting
Angron and Kharn also get a bunch despite not doing very much
good book, really odd prioritisation
iron hands would be cool if they leaned more into the whole
because both Bile and Angron have already had their entire arcs fleshed out very well
we're unfeeling machines so we're going to play god with crazy technology and not give a fuck
they hinted at that with their hel keys terminator zombies or whatever but it could go farther
there is now a blackshields option for that
huge pile of robozombies
hilariously you can cast Mechanicum buffs on them but they tend to explode quite badly when you do due to tactical marines being a lot squishier than Castellax
termies only
gotta love black shields running around with autoguns and shit
ripping the copper out of the walls and stealing the treads off the tanks
blackshields are great
theres a good deathwatch campaign in there somewhere
wasnt there a horus heresy deathwatch fan conversion or did i imagine it
Hmm, yall think alpha legion would be rocking full on armor or be relying on small arms and cultists chaff mostly?
I feel like a helbrute is not in their MO
full armor with a wave of cultists ahead of them
chuck helbrutes in as distractions/like you would use an eversor
Oh true
their most famous unit that isn't some kind of stealth squad is a pile of giant fuckoff cataphractii terminators with death rays
Predator or a concealed vindicator might be a thing
the sledgehammer is an important element of a good AL force
funny how its the same with the other sneaky boys the nightlords
big fuck off termie lads
They have insertion tools and need to be iron tough to deliver decapitation strikes
I imagine in the 41st millennium you almost never see an AL terminator, and everyone who does is probably dead
at the end of the day space marines are space marines yk
sometimes the stealthy thing is just killing everyone before they realize theyre dead
They seem like kind of similar to the raptors where you'll likely only have one squad in a place and they're coordinating cultist militaries and doing surgical strikes themselves
in Harrowmaster they still have units called Headhunters and Lernaeans
whether those are tactically analogous to their predecessors is anyone's guess
i imagine 40k chaos marine culture involves a lot of "sure, whatever"
it's been long enough even if calling your random tac squad the Lernaean Death Murder Cadre wasn't pretty classic misdirection
like whoever rolls up like "yeah im the last surviving member of the iron tyrants" or something who would even care to check
i think about the one guy, the black legion terminator cant remember his name
he was possessed
but a character with the same name/position got killed in a HH book later
which just makes the earlier appearance in Black Legion so much funnier because Abaddon doesnt bat an eye at this thing calling itself by the name of a guy he watched die
lotta dudes swapping colors when convient

THE MADMAN IS DOING IT
HE'S FUCKING DOING IT
OH MY GOD
god centurions
we put power armor on your power armor
somehow this was the best idea gw had all through 7th
terminators. . . two!
the thing abt centurions is they are actually one of the strongest units in the codex I feel like people just forget they exist. Because the space marines codex is the way it is
the secret sauce of James Walsh best dark angels player in North America is 9 fucking centurion devastators
its all in the grav gun im sure
Titus got his old job back
https://youtu.be/-hrulR3PhGY?si=FI1GMrrJvI2yttoV
Demetrian Titus: officer, leader, strategist. Once again Captain of the Ultramarines Second Company, Titus faces a new mission with impossible odds – but he's not alone!
See all the reveals at Warhammer Community: https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/kc6piaf3/world-championships-warhammer-preview-live-2025-see-all-of-the-reveals...
for now
It’d be hilarious if Titus ends up getting demoted again like a Perma-E4
Just up and then back down again for some infraction, then up again, then down again etc etc
I'm so happy they opted to make it canon that he's Captain of the 2nd Company, given the mix up the first game caused.
But also...damn what a fucking titanic task Guilliman gave him for the promotion.
"Yeah, you can have a whole company instead of just three now... But now you must reclaim all of Ultramar."
Like I said, dude is getting demoted agin fr fr
Grav guns + missiles or lascannons + missiles are absolutely ripping, I know John Lennon was fucking shit up at a tournament with a lascannon centurion unit in the raven guard detach.
letting the centurions uppy downy for free and using your oath target on whatever tank/monster they need to kill usually means They Just Kill It
Do it GW, it’ll be funny
Don't you dare.
Head canon that he specifically requested thr company without malum caedo
Gotta stay away from that guy
Wonder if he'll make rank for a model one day
Technically he and Sidonus got a head in the Sternguard box back in the day
Titus seems to feel like he being set up for failure lol. So yeah, seems likely
500 is a weird number choice. Feels awkward vs 1000 or even 100
Do did Acheron get demoted or step down?
klingon demotion
E4 mafia?
Sorta related, but not exactly
As a note, judging by the plague wars novels, Titus is not expected to take back the 500 worlds with 1 company. Bobby G pretty much made it the Ultramarines' and its successor chapters ' main goal
Making the destroyer curse a specific guy is A Lot I’m a little surprised they didn’t drop that in a book first
Nekrosor Ammentar is thought by many to be the genesis of the Destroyer curse, and by others to be entirely mythological – a parable of guilt and betrayal that hearkens back to the shattering of the C’tan. Strangely, all memories of its origin appear to have been forcibly removed from the collective Necron psyche, though only the Silent King has the authority to make such sweeping modifications, and he’s not the most talkative of people…
Ammentar is very real, however, and labours with surprising lucidity on its crusade to eradicate all life from the galaxy.** It harbours an extreme affinity for the C’tan known as the Nightbringer, and aims to reunite its scattered shards to one day revive the ancient star god in full. This is widely considered to be a bad idea, especially by the Necrons themselves.**
The very presence of the Nekrosor is enough to corrupt the minds of Necrons – from the humblest Warrior to the noblest Overlord – and it commands vast hordes of enthralled soldiers.
Emphasis mine

The Twin Lance: We miss our wife.
silly question but are ultras really that popular
i tihnk in all my years ive seen one single ultramarines army
Yeah, and have been pretty consistently the mascot since 2e.
3rd had a weird blip there where there wasn't really any focus on them but 4th and onwards has cemented them as the poster boys.
I do not actually see them often painted
I’m considering making an ultramarines army though
I have seen many Ultramarines armies but admittedly a majority of them were owned by 12 year olds
the ultras i have seen seem to also be owned by younger players
the exception is Horus Heresy ultras, which tend to be lovingly painted and decorated and also include seven zillion Suzerains for extra Rome vibes because those guys are all 50-something shed dads
The thing about the Ultramarines
Is I cannot find the idea of them compelling
Where every captain has a name and a model
And every dude is a known named character
The least "your dudes" army ever
on the subject of Your Dudes: i'm formenting a new low-stakes conspiracy theory where Ammentar was a generic Ophydian Lord model made into a name character at the last second
they seem to be very big on named characters these days
Votann are a very new faction and they already have several (although they have more generic HQs than I expected, too)
the design and studio paint scheme have absolutely no distinctive dynastic imagery, and his lore goes as far as "they're the King of the Destroyer Cults that Titus needs to stab to defeat them all"
Admech is admittedly an odd case here because they have exactly one unique character who absorbs 100% of the attention and is also incredibly strong
but no others
once again GSC sweep because the nature of the faction means that they're all generics
and they have many cool HQs
Oh!
(incredily strong not always applicable)
10th as a whole is very anti-your dudes tbh
I joined the fandom in 10th, tho only read the rules not played, and as soon as someone posted in here playing a 7th ed game where you can make a Captain into a custom Chapter Master with point expenditure my mind fuckin exploded
Yes but I think you can't get less Your Dudes than with the Ulties
Oh, for sure
I feel like "specific instead of general dudes" has had an uptick in general (see hero shooters). I think the logic is that you can get people more attached to your IP by having characters they can get, err, attached to
I can understand that honestly
I wish that, for a game with origins that lie in 'your dudes'ing it, that they preserved that
Yeah, I prefer generic characters
I think a great middle-ground would be "generic profile, but it is perfect to represent <specific hero>"
generic chapter master unit entry has been a staple of Space Marines for so goddamn long that I was downright offended to see they got rid of it
back when Cawl first came out I remember people were very excited for our new generic archmagos model before it was revealed that he was just Some Guy
Ultramarines have also been very popular in competitive (because Guilliman and Calgar and Ventris have had very strong rules)
also in horus heresy you can put different stuff on your guys, which helps
Mechanicum remain the best at that because you have seven different flavours of Magos and a bunch of support gear that changes their statline around
but Marines still have a lot of HQ variety
Horus Heresy does kinda need that since every guy only deviates from the baseline Space Marine guy by like 15% in a specific direction
yeah, but some of them are cool
Master of Descent and Master of Signal are personal standouts, as actual space marine support HQs
MoS is just a guy in power armour with a bolt pistol, unlike damn near every other space marine HQ and their mandatory 2+ 4++ and relic power sword
meanwhile the Mechanicum get to choose between light magos/heavy magos, light archmagos/heavy archmagos, tech-assassin or chump tech-adept, then pick one of seven specialisations, then pick from this gear list
(and also you can make them darkmech warptech guys if you like, no extra cost beyond being too creepy to join non-warpy squads)
throw in Paragon of Battle and Combat Veterans as options to make one of them cooler and you end up with quite a diverse set of lads
helps that the specialty you select for your Archmagos unlocks a special detachment for buffed dudes, so they tend to come themed
Damn
Does Horus Heresy have a Tabletop Simulator mod
you can use the normal 40k one, I believe, the models are usually locatable but it's possible they're missing some of the newer units
I need to have a look
all the Space Marines, Daemons and Custodes are definitely accessible, not sure about Solar Aux and Mech
theres something thats definetly been lost from generic capt's with a lot of wargear options
I don't really like taking named heroes
which sucks because the generic guys generally... don't get much
thats why you gotta kitbash the named boys into your own guys
is it technically abbadon? sure
Yeah, you can totally reuse the rules and say it's some other guy. It's annoying in terms of what it makes the default... fiction? I'm having a hard time describing this
Also you can't rename a Raven Guard guy and a Ultramarine guy and put them in the same army
As far as I'm concerned, all astartes are Alpharius.
If they think they're not, that's just hypno-programming at work.
Everyone is playing alpha legion and they don't even know it yet
Something Im suprised by especially with like half the animation being a chaplain is that there hasnt been an update for Cassius
But then there hasnt been one for the other vaguer ultra characters either
And he joined deathwatch
I'm not inherently opposed to that. There could be good reasons to not let two types of rules not be in the same army. Not that GW is doing it that way though
I like em
This will be fixed in 11th where declaring ultramarines as your main faction and putting Chapter Master Titus lets you take any marines in warhammer
I do really love the design of these funky lads
Knights who say Ni! lookin ass dudes
Yeah it’s extra weird because there’s some chaos lords which just came out with decent variety in… weapons anyway
The new Tyranid Prime having a single weapon set is sad
Its weird
So its gonna be a real unit again but not be able to use any of the weapon options that already exist
In a kit that isnt getting retired
It's kind of weird it's not a ranged one. Since they already have a melee one
The writing is probably on the wall for the existing kit tbh
I mean
A new warrior kit would be cool
But I dont think its coming out anytime soon
Like eventually, yeah
Yeah, though they will probably get rid of the Xenomorph inspired hoods, which makes me sad
I guess there has been a kit refresh since I first played back in 3rd edition 🤔
Like realistically shrikes shouldve come out right after the winged prime its not like you can really expect logic from gw
But yeah the fact that the winged prime already joins warriors fine does make another melee one weird
Without even bone swords or rending claws either just the same talons
Winged prime should be able to join other gaunts imo. It's in such a weird space
There was a 5th edition refresh of warriors but it was one of those weird ones where half the kit didnt really change
They had around then
I think people primarily take it to give melee warriors vanguard in the vanguard detachment?
They changed the bodies slightly in that they made the legs slot in a fixed orientation instead of being either ball sockets or pegs iirc
The new tau are so cool
Im still really undecided about the new stealth suits though
Their new drones are so good
I'm wondering if those new battlesuits that the twins have will see any wider rep or if that's just a them thing
I also wonder if they'll be an individual team or join to make fat units of crisis
I think theyll be on their own
I also think theyre like ghostkeel sized tbh
Idk
Could be wrong
Oh i did think they actually look kinda similar to broadside
Hmm
No they feel bigger
You can see em next to drones, I don't think they're ghostkeel sized
They look more like chunky crisis
I think their drones are bigger than normal drones is the thing
Hmm I'm like 85% sure they are not ghostkeel size
Trying to figure it out
They have pistols Im pretty sure which is kinda funky
In their shield hand
Theyre on the next size base down from ghostkeel though I think yeah
Like the 90 mm base
Or something
Ugh
Idk I just want them to fit coherently in a mass class haha
And they look too bulky to be like the broadside or commander suits
It could also be the 75mm base
But I dont think its the 60mm one
But like these guys feel like theyre bigger than far sight right
Hes on a 60 round
So I think these are 75mm oval which is smaller than I was thinking
Anyway when these guys show up farsight should be like “oh hey look who it is, widow and widower 😏” “for real though sorry for your loss”
Wanna play dark crusade now
I think they're like... a step up from enforcer, or maybe an evolution from it
I hope they can be fielded with farsight
that would be very funny
the twin lance (and farsight's here too)
I do hope these are the template for the new crisis suits (or plastic hazard suits)
bc I do really like the suit design
I mean thats kinda my thing where if these were new crisis that just scale creeps commanders and broadsides
So idk
I do think some of the new design language stuff they're using is likely to appear in any new release regardless though
crisis are definitely due to be scaled up anyway
they're barely larger than a terminator which feels wrong
oh I agree
I like the commander scale a lot
which is why I want the crisis suits to be exactly that big and no bigger
so they match
idk how commonly known this is but the gw release schedule makes more "sense" when you learn that it's controlled entirely at the whims of their design studio
they get pointed in a general direction/schedule (we need a character for this faction a new unit here, new range refresh here) but beyond that the what and how is pretty much totally at their discretion
if some sculptor wanted to make a tyranid with a whip, that's what you're getting
I mean in the case of shrikes I dont think that explains much haha
Its also a case of the design studio might decide what models exist but they dont decide when those models come out
Like the necron teleport lord was made at the same time as the necrons from the 9e launch
But that doesnt mean it comes out then
But yeah rules ppl have like zero influence
thats why necromunda is the coolest kat
Gelt "WELCOME TO THE HIVE GENTLEMEN" jokes aside
what an incredible bit of work
hes got robotic doublet and hose!
this one is SO PEAK
its fucking stupid that hes a playable model BUT i aint gonna complain to hard
also the bit of flesh sticking out the sides
perfect
I think the alt head and torso look better if anything
great model
bit odd to have the lord of all necromunda in the gang war but fuck it, they've got jetbikes and STCs
what happens on Necromunda stays on Necromunda apparently
wild shot in the dark
Venerable redemptor kit
BUT it'll be covered in fuckin horseshoes and itll be another 5 years before a generic ven dread kit
The nobles love going down to stomp on the Common Folk with their supertech, it’s a Spierer Thing
Does being turned into a dreadnought count as a demotion or a job change to a pararellel track?
And how with it the guy is/stays
Usually a demotion
If he takes it bad, he’s more of a “okay scary grandpa, let’s kill the guys and go back to bed” vs “instruct us, wise leader”
space marines don't really do rank independent of responsibility so probably demotion
upside you get to be a venerated relic downside you don't do command work any more
though space marines also don't really get paid so the increase in honor stemming from being a venerated relic might outweigh the decrease in honor from not doing command stuff anymore
Can't press the buttons on the holotable
I think you get into the issue of what exactly a demotion means
it's certainly a reduction in responsibilties since your job gets reduced to "kill everything you're presented with" and "don't die" which isn't really command material but you do get to be a venerated relic
Though also in some chapters you can absolutely still be a commander
Maybe not Ultramarines. Unless they just straight up killed the guy lol
Or at least a very respected advisor in others
I guess the mental stability issues with long term dreadnoughting probably don't help
No, it doesn’t
I find the idea of freshly minted "venerable" dreadnoughts quite funny
in the Horus Heresy that's probably most dreadnoughts by 40k standards, and we do see one
in the form of Telemechrus, a guy who got dreadnoughted one sleep before Calth and wakes up falling out of orbit
you do have Rylanor who gets dreadnoughted like 30 years before the Heresy
he rises to the occasion admirably for someone who is younger than most of the people he ends up bossing about
and he only goes nuts after 10k years of isolation
oh apparently there was a dreadnought chapter master
Hell of a intro to your new body
Carab culln wasnt like
Really a chapter master after internment
Like he kept the title but it significantly diminished his capability for like actual command
Iron hands dreadnoughts regularly occupy leadership roles though
The only thing stopping one becoming the chapter master is votes
when you give a Levithan twin assault cannons they can be whatever they want
Tbf thats kinda funny actually
Or that Grav thing that crushes tanks like tin cans
Like double assault cannons sound fun until you realise the standard loadout for a leviathan is 4 autocannons
And this is where someone tells me they nerfed it
I guess on contemptors its also 2 vs 1 for assault cannons
I think
Idk that doesnt feel right now that I think about it
Technically double autocannons would be 8 autocannons
Since they’re quaded up
in fairness to the Crab he could also smash you and then cook you
then explode you
just a ball-o-murder
Whats in his missile box
juice
Oh, lame, that’s what you meant by assault cannons, nah bro 25mm or bust
Cause in heresy thats phosphex but I dont think he has that on account of it being gone
Hk missiles apparently
accuracy by volume
Get them autocannons going, rip up infantry and vehicles
assault cannons can fuck up light tanks iirc
Four autocannons in a unit is plenty of volume! And will have hi-ex!
I love the quad autocannon
Put a fuckin’ anti-aircraft piece on a dreadnaught and use it direct-fire, fuck yeah
i love the dorito dread dearly
I remember in 1E the Bombard crumpled tanks like nobody’s buisness
but an AA dread is INSANE in an order of battle
Classic 40k
Yeah but consider that you’re gonna be pointing that shit at infantry anyhow
Does anybody have any good inspo links for Commissar kitbashes?
Pintrest isn't helping much
Truely, the dreadnaught is the technical of 40k: slapping anti-armor weapons on a mobile unit to use in a direct fire capacity against infantry
they even put a goddamn shield generator on it
No I will not explain how this fully makes sense, you know the vibes are true
Cant tell if dagan died in the devastation of baal or if baal just gets destroyed all the time
in every way, the Bradley and Castaferrum dreadnaught are identical /s
the castaferrum tragically never had troop transportation abilities
witch i might add is a fuckin shame
pfft
increadible fuck uea
Hm
I'm really enjoying Twice Dead King
more than IATD, even
someone get this guy to write an Admech book
I did honestly think this was AoS Gelt at first glance lol
He looks better in the alt build, I think
Incredibly scrungly in the best way
I'm strongly considering kitbashing him into a Magos
He’d probably make a good one
Go kinda wild with the greenstuff cables and you're almost there already
Even though it's ridiculous to have the planetary governor fighting gangs with a power sword it is a rad as hell model
Elaborate
horse skulls for the head
Even Skitarii have more dignity than those droids
paint scheme as droids
honestly i love the droids. imagine a legion of skitarii with synthasized new york accents
they have personality
I don't like the 30k Skitarii honestly. The legs are rad but the coats, arms, and heads are such a downgrade from 40k Skitarii . They're different vibes completely though so I guess it's fine
this will look rad as hell
The heads aren't great, I really like the rest of them
heads are an easy swap at least
the draped cloaks give them a really nice outline
it would be nice if the coats were a seperate set of pieces tho
they would be slick af defrocked
I wish the coats weren't so tattered
the ones with the usual flared out coats look worse, so I'm down for the drapes
...thinking about modelig them as fancy lads with frock coats and lace
The Loyalist Skitarii on mars are basically Tin Man Mujahadeen during the Heresy, so it's plausible that they're a little messed up
but perhaps they are slightly too much so
Is he the planetary governor?
sort of
Isn't he? I assume if you're Lord of the planet you're the governor
Also gotta remember that whenever you say gang in necromunda you gotta fill in ‘one of 6 competing paramilitary forces”
the old dead previous hive ruler
But I suppose someone else can hold that title while you still rule the planet
They dont do street crimes
On the upside the slightly less rigid robes are probably easy to greenstuff patch
Hems will be a little ragged but that's more acceptable
turns out unclear amounts of dead but moving around doesnt mean not dead in 40k so who knows
he should
Ooh that is a good point it wouldn't be hard to fill in the joles
But also my confusion is mainly because like
When this guy was in charge of necromunda before that was before the imperium existed
planetery governer moving like dracula flow
But also it does kinda make sense that if he’s still paying taxes the imperium isnt gonna give a shit
"flipped a brick into an empire i rule this shit. im him."
For as much crap as we give the imperium for their management abilities at least they're smart enough to reduce workload
Man I love the Necron subminds in this overlord
Is the imperium just cargo culting the one guy with a reason to servitorise a baby
the scientist persona is a plucky engineer from Victorian London
Because its not actually a baby but an alien species that looks like a human baby
"want the projected casualty stats, milord?"
Man, necrons are so much more fun when they're emphasizing the glitchy parts
Omnipotent Robot (arguing with four of his subselves over whether to kill you)
Oh no
He is not planetary governor and he is not paying taxes
House helmawr has 100 days to regain control of necromunda or the imperium is coming
Which. I imagine thats just whats gonna happen. Lady Helmawr is gonna power spear him
But still it’ll be fun while that lasts
I'm sorry who?
The new necromunda guy
He has a name Im sure
Ozostium Aranthus
Love how this shock pistol is just a taser
Wait is this actually new gelt?
Hes also not even gelt hes a tomb king
I was like whoa what
He’s just taking part in the aristocratic culture of Necromunda of going into the lower hive and absolutely stomping some poor gangers
This isn’t a joke, that’s a thing they do for fun
I mean the actual answer is that hes working with some of those gangs to fight the other gangs to take control of necromunda
And i think is in charge of at least some amount of the palatine people who are also essentially just another gang
And the fact this is a universe where 'five star' generals ride around on horses to stab people personally
The lady who's trying to stop him is that kind of aristocrat though and went and fetched an even cooler set of power armour to do so
Some of the 30k blackshields oaths of moment are so incredibly funny
Two dozen centurions who get stat boosts and cool rules? Hell yeah. Scavenging blackshields who loot stuff and carry autoguns? Hell yeah. Robot blackshields who are all elite choices? Hell yeah, you can do that
They're great, aren't they
Makes the first couple that are things like "you get +1 to wound but you have to charge" look a bit tawdry
although the other very simple one that lets you score VP for killing units is very good, especially with allies
Shattered Legions have always been less popular since they're rather more narratively restrictive and their rules were incredibly overcomplicated last edition, but they're also neat now
SoH and Emperor's Children both give everyone some variety of "I don't care that my weapon skill sucks, I hit on 4+", which makes cheap melee squads and dreadnoughts a lot more attractive. Possibly despoilers and dual melee dreads should have had that by default.
how tf
Someone did that for Angron like 3 days after the promo shots were shown off.
I wonder if he's got a halo Device
the armour, rocks, chainsword, boltgun, ultramarines accoutremont etc would all be existing models
at most theyd need to sculpt what, head, ropes, fur trim?
pink as new?
a second titus
or pink and green
so the mkx has a rigged model iirc
nodnodnod
Every different colour is just a different object
admech question: serberys raiders or sulphur hounds
I’m leaning toward sulphur hounds but I know in my heart I’m basing this entirely on “flamethrower for a head”
Its a good reason
Raiders are action monkeys so if you're ok without that do the flamethrower heads
finished up the Castellan Shield-Lord
Pair of twins is a funny way to say husband and wife
One flesh
Twins on the streets, married in the sheets
They're just roommates
And then, he thought, with perhaps a tinge of relief, I will be annihilated.
Oltyx was steeling himself to take the first step across the threshold, when his xenology submind relayed the important news that it had seen an invertebrate.
This book is great
rad as hell
damn just saw Titus with his new fur cloak, kinda dripped out
Mhm
He's a certified chainsword lover
I respect him for it
I've said it before, but chainsword often gets treated like the basic bitch default, but every so often someone remembers to respect it
They're still mourning their wife
Husband and wife (formerly husband and wife and wife)
waiting for a new Seth sculpt to have the the mother of all Eviscerators
whats his sword called again
oh yeah BLOOD REAVER
god I love the flesh tearers
crisis suit throuple actually a sinfully underserved idiom imho
introducing our new and improved miniatures company, Social Justice Workshop
polyhammery
how did i miss that pun
Average necron when presented with a bug:
The woke 40k with Whore's Heresy, Ferrus Womanus, Roberte Girlyman, Fulgrim, Jaghertai Khan, Leman Suss, Betapharius
and Konrad Curze but their nonbinary now
Konrad is binary but the binary is not criminal or dead.
Why did you replace only half of alpha with beta? Shouldn't it be Betarius?
