I imagine it's not hard to convince an Ork to be their own Boss lol
The early early lore when orks were fancy cockney one ork basically bartered and ran a weapons factory, then killed the buyers eventually, then the factory
If you arm your opponents then the fight gets better
And you keep the best dakka for yourself
Rarely. It works really well right up until it doesn't, because Orks will get bored.
Or just backstab you in epic fashion
Blood Axes are sneaky gits
(and most orc mercenaries are going to be blood axes)
Also I appreciate that Orkstealers are still canon and still not great at their jobs:
"Some of da boyz from Octarius got their mekz to loot some of da dakka from da tirry-nids. Works pretty well if you keep ’em fed. You can get sum from Ulg Lotsarms and his boyz, just smack ‘im in da gob if he keeps talkin’ about “Gork and Mork but wiv four arms for hittin’ people” and “the patriork” and uvver rubbish."
(also the mental image of Orks feeding their guns is adorable. Probably less adorable if you're a poorly located grot)
amazing
A reminder that while there's plenty of good writing in 40k, there's also... Not
Thank ya! The original comes from the firstborn Space Wolves upgrade kit
also ngl the best part about having a homebrew chapter is I can fuck around with em
like yes im making a unit of slaanesh infused female space marines with dragon heads and you cant stop me. fuck "heresy" this is my army and i choose it raah
Oh god i keep hearing bad things about it
Enlighten me on the new terminus decree 👁️
||it says to put the big E back in the chair if he magically revives||
||Emperor: If i get out of the chair, that isn't me.||
||didn't fucking tell the custodes that tho||
And as far as anyone knows, Kaldor Draigo is the only living soul who knows. And he's somewhat indisposed most of the time
oh yeah that decree
10th edition greyknights codex thought it was in a book so I guess we can talk openly now
like honestly Big E you couldn't have explained to the banana guard you needed to be on the chair
honestly i'd pay to see Grey Knights vs Custodes
I still do not get why people are so adverse to this
grey knights loose handedly they are just corruption resistant psycher space marine
Like 10 harlequins made it to the throne room
it's supposed to be mysterious not everything needs an explanation
that's cuz they are harlequins which are cool and based
"You are to slay the Emperor?!"
"As the decree has stated. Step aside, lest you be cut down for standing before the terminus decree."
"What the fuck is the terminus decree?"
"You wouldn't get it."
I take more chagrin at people powerscaling custodes into being undefeatable than the idea that the Grey knights might have a conflicting order because the emperor was an untrustworthy asshole
I just think dropping a lore bomb as huge as the terminus decree in a single paragraph codex tidbit is a huge L like at least a novel games workshop
Giant lore bombs as off handed statements is the style of the tine
Time
like the big plan™ is bs useless note that just says kill me if i become a god how lol figure it out
"Oh yea uh the grey knights have this big fucking thing. its really important to the lore. anyway time to show some art lmao"
I feel that's very grimderp so I agree
I do understand the outrage but good lord it's just so funny
next they gonna off handedly explain the symbolism of the stone, iron, gold men in a twitter post
no wait I've got a worse one
primarch 2 and 11 reveal in a tik tok
Lore reveals in codex sidebars is nothing new
I'm still against revealing it in the first place no explanation would have made me happy
can't deny the memes are pretty funny
And no one, no one can complain it's the worst bit of Grey Knights lore
worse than knight buggy
the terminus decree was and still is a minor detail at best
Well yeah, it would be pointless
Since the stodes can’t stop him anyway
Yeah they're physically incapable of going against him. To the point even Valdor was only disturbed by the fact that not being able to go against the emperor didn't disturb him
Isn't Valdor ||the King in Yellow|| though?
I’m not sure why that would be relevant though
Since it’s like a genetic thing that they can’t go against the emperor even unwillingly
Well, wouldn't operating a traitor faction that works to destabilize or dismantle the Imperium in various ways and engages with things prohibited by the Imperium qualify as going against him?
Only if hes not actually working under the emperors orders
No cause the emperor would prolly do that too if he was awake
Neoth would not be cool with the legion of backwards lunatics who think he’s a god
Worst Case scenario for the Emperor getting out of the chair is the Dark King.
Yeah the GK don’t really have much time to act if that happens though
Just a loud pop and a storm big enough to make the eye of terror look like the squint of terror
You just need to make sure a protagonist is around when it's happening. Then there will just enough time to stop it
finally, space foxes primaris lieutenant
Don't, Don't let me hope for more furries
I just hope its for a faction i can play lol
could be a fire fox for a salamanders rebranding
So I knew Acheran from space marine 2 was the phobos captain, but apparently he was the gravis captain from dark imperium box too according to lexicanum.
Wolf undead for Gravelords.
A fair few gravelords units have those roots growing on them
Though I would love more Sylvaneth units, I feel like of all the factions that got significant overhauls from their WFB precursors they got handled the best
At least, of the initial wave of new AoS factions
As opposed to the Ossiarchs, Fyreslayers, or even the Ironjawz
I find myself growing fonder of the Grey Knights lately
Demon hunting space wizards in power armor with the COOLEST mf helmets
I don't think I can tolerate the baby carriers until they take it to 11 and have a knight sized unit that baby-carries the baby carrier
If it wasn’t for the dreadknights, I’d probably run them. The full knight vibe is always what I want outta space marines
They soooo need a rescale
Ik black templars are…black templars but I feel like they do the knight thing better
I think the main idea with Grey Knights is a little flawed, though I love their core aesthetic with the armet style helmets and power polearms
Like the baby carriers are pretty bad and come from a pretty dark period of 40k design work, but the whole conceit of Space Marines+ who are more secret than secret, who fight daemons for the Inquisition, and who are potentially from the Emperor's geneseed is just a little much. They feel like they're trying not to be the Custodes too hard in some respects
In an era where Custodes weren't playable and had next to no fluff it made a sort of sense to have GK be the extra special marines.
Well that's sort of what I mean, they just feel like they were always this weird compromise that then got heaps of the Ultra Special Boys sauce on them
While also being just a flavor of space marines rather than something totally independent
I can't quite put my finger on it but something about the GK has always rankled me, even back when I was just getting into Warhammer around their release in 5th
But I have also always loved their whole aesthetic
Prior to their 5th ed book they were part of a component of Imperial forces via the Daemonhunters and Witchhunters codices, and their units were limited to just power armor troops, terminators, and a dread. And as part of a greater selection of troops I think they fit in rather well as a very secretive element of the Imperium that's assigned to deal with Chaos above all else.
It's once you get to the baby-carrier and flying transports and all the other shit they got, on top of the too-cool-for-school lore dump, that things got kinda weird and not good.
Most marines got over the Matt Ward period of insane lore, but GK...hasn't. Not fully, anyway.
Yeah, and the hubbub around the Terminus Decree feels like shudders of that
I also like it because it gives a rare definitive answer to something in the lore AND gives us a bunch of funny-ass memes, while engaging the brain of "well okay how would they even pull this off."
I think people are making a bigger thing of it than it just being a lore blurb
(I also think GK need a serious model refresh)
I think the answer is “they would still try it even if they all died”
Oh definitely. I think it's not meant to be taken as seriously as it has been by the community. It strikes me as a little ridiculous, like the implication that the GK are just going to bumrush the entire palace themselves and think they can actually accomplish it, it's that Cruelest and Least Efficient Regime imaginable thing going
And it opens interesting questions of why it would have been written and who actually wrote it
But I get why people got a little up in arms, if only because in the context of how the GK were handled in the past it could be taken as being written as somehow serious and plausible
I mean I don’t think it’s totally implausible to try
Based on what we know of who’s dogwalked custodes: they are the guys who could do it
And it’d almost certainly end up being a whole thing that ends up bringing in a bunch of radical inquisitors and other stuff
Last argument of the imperium’s status quo remains sick as hell
The machine will put the figurehead back in the God Damn Box
Basically it’d be a total clusterfuck of an attempt to reimpose the status quo, yeah
Whether they pulled it off or not it’s the idea that this was written that’s the more interesting part
I think everyone is too focused on the “could they do it” and less on the “who wrote this thing and why”
Since if it’s the emperor that’s interesting, if it’s Malcador that’s interesting for other reasons, if it’s someone else that’s even more questions
And just how crazy, fanatical, and irrational it implies even the highest levels of the Imperium can be, for multiple reasons
Oh for sure, and in the edition where almost everyone got new termies, it feels like a definite slight that the faction that's half termies didn't
It's really weird!
Makes me wonder if they've either got them in the pipeline and holding off on releasing new models for some reason, or trying to decide if it's even worth a redo.
Could be some internal sales numbers indicate it's not worth it right now or...something.
I do feel like it takes some serious doing to get GW to refresh a line that's old and not selling well
I mean look how long it's taken to start getting the new Eldar
Eldar have traditionally sold pretty well, but also their older models hold up incredibly well.
Yeah but the idea of an old model line not selling well is just how it works
Like why would you buy the stumpy grey knights as a new player when the other Marines are twice the height
Yeah, I don't get why GW does what it does.
Like the models aren't just old, they look old
I think they look worse than the 3e metals.
Then you have the fire prism which is older but also looks rad still
Looking for sense from James Workshop is a fool's errand.
Like it's a weird thing to be nitpicky about but the hobby rewards that so I'll die on this hill.
Like half the tau range is from like 4th or 5th?
my biggest beef with the gk is that they never once seemed like a full army to me. they seemed like real cool special single squad guys
not so different from like a deathwatch kill team
which is also my beef with the idea of deathwatch armies being a thing
sure gk might occassionally group up for big actions to slay big demons, but thats still like... a notable exception to their usual operation
(that and their whole thing is to slay demons. Specifically. Like not even ambiguosly. But now they're out here fighting infantry land battles against whomever the fuck)
Yeah but the thing about Tau is that the 3e debut Tau still look pretty good today, the updates they got just look a bit better
A lot of 5e era models have these weird over wide stances for their scale
Yeah. And it's when GW started slapping a ton of detail on models, to the point of making them look awkward.
Sanguinary Guard are one of the big offenders there, and the primaris version is a much better rendition.
detail bloat was quite a common trend for 40k minis and thankfully it seems to be on the way out
Yeah. The designers seemed to have come to their senses that having some blank spots on a model is a good thing.
depends on the army tbf. Guard infantry has horrific amounts of detail for the sheer amount you have to paint
im a custodes player so i get the worse of both worlds while yes i want my guard to look sick with details theres also so much and it makes the model look very messy
The real power behind grey knights is you just need to put primer on them and you can say they're done
I think the reason theres been no grey knights update is because they’re indecisive abt keeping them tbh
Or like arent ready to commit to it
Partially because like, space marines are already a whole thing and its taken like 10 years to mostly refresh the range with a twice an edition release cadance
Yeah. They might be waffling on whether to keep them as a whole separate force or just roll them into something else (aka Daemonhunter 2: Electric Boogaloo).
(Which is also something that makes the eldar comparison weird in like, modern times. It took a long time to get to it but eldar got releases like every year for the past few years)
Yeah i mean the range is basically the same size as the harlequin one
And they came down on the side of not really supporting it as its own army anymore
On the other hand the mid-Cold War thing they got going on now is
This might sound kinda weird but I basically rate an army on completeness when it has its own transport (that's not a rhino) Until grey knights and custodes get their own vehicle they will always look kinda empty
And no the grav tank and $500 gunship don't count
That would mean Blood Angels aren't complete, as they don't have a unique transport.
the vehicles (devilfish chassis) are really bad- not because they’re bad sculpts but because the moulds are deteriorating so badly that bent railguns and pitted plastic is like. The norm in those kits now
If you don't count Rhinos and Land Raiders as transports, that excludes literally every Chaos faction
Oh my god you're right
I meannnnnnnnnnnnn
And if Razorbacks and Immolators are also just a subset of Rhino, then not just GK and Custodes but Sisters too
Hey we have the venerable Chaos Rhino, proving that breaking free of the blinders of false faith comes with a cool rocket launcher for 23 years
the havoc launcher fuckin sucks to build but its RAD AS THE WARP
Factions, by non-FW ground transport:
- Space Marines, with almost a dozen different transport options just for UM
- Chaos, GK, Sisters, Custodes, which have Rhino and/or Land Raider
- Xenos, Guard, and Admech, which all have bespoke transports
- Knights, which need no puny transports
Oh right it's a flyer, it goes in the "flyers aren't real" bin
I guess it does get to ignore most of flyers' restrictions though...
Mycetic spores...maybe count? if we count drop pods as a transport.
the tyrannocyte isn't Aircraft, tho
it's a mobile drop pod thing
It has fly and an 8" move speed so it's kind of a gassy helicopter?
I admittedly said "comes close" because I completely missed it having the fly tag at first and thought it just like, schlooped around on the ground after landing
Re: Terminus Decree - i think as a piece of lore, it's pretty great in a very imperium is not the smartest.
As "This is what's in the open in the darkest of darkest hours" box, i really dislike it
Mainly b ecause of the "Everything is going to hell. the nids areh ere. abaddon is here. Ghazkgull is here. Trazyn is here (Someone stop him making off with the loot, again). Let's crack this open...
...wow. this is fucking useless"
Itd be fun if this is a setup for horus heresy 2 where emps waking up has started a civil war between pro status quo vs pro change with new emps
And the "loyalists" to emps are gimped and in total disarray because the power people had in the emps came from him being on the golden throne as an unspeaking god and now the illusion is shattered the only glue holding the imperium's mess of an empire together falls apart
So despite having the emps back, its still even stalemate just like GW likes it
Terra poofing out of existance and the imperium fragmenting - and one has to assume chaos fragemnting too woluld be pretty interesting as a new status quo.
Like, what does Abaddon even do if Terra just goes... whumpf because the emps stood up
Ol' Goldeyes has bene obsseing about Terra and the Astronomcium so long he got gold eyes!
Itd be funny and silly if a purple ork overheard the grey knights plans and they relay to other orks that emps is standing up from the throne and it gets a huge waaagh going from every ork warboss wanting to be the one that fights emps first and the ork psychic reality lube fixed the astronomicon and throne so emps can stand up
Put me back on the throne cause if I get revived by xenos its probably an ork waaagh its not really me coming back but an ork dream of me.
I was trying to think up an easy (and free) way to make a mock of my custom dynasty's scheme so I booted up dark crusade.
that honestly sounds like a hilarious state of things. the imperium can either be stable or be informed, it cannot have both and rarely does it have either
I imagine its so broken it can only be functional broken
Its like if Jesus came back and literally performed undeniably real divine miracles and a lot of people renounced him as like a demon
i mean, that does sound like smth an imperial citizen would do
E: "I come in peace"
GK: Peace? Heresy!
How you know if its a false emps
Instant war is more efficient
well, "instant" is not really smth most of the imperium does lmao
Does Wrath & Glory have any rules for playing as Men of Iron perchance
Cause I kinda wanna try to find a W&G game where I can play as a like, old Man of Iron who's disguised himself as a renegade space marine
They're robots, they can be whatever shape they need to be
bulk em up in places, it can get away with being a weird termie or dreadnought maybe
Preemptive war on everyone might be more apt
You might not know me xenos but know we're warring
Okay, gang. Lookin' at the "New army" bug again. I figure it might be nice to have a more elite choice so I don't have to lug 60 minis to and from the game store. Also thinkin' Xenos because, let's be honest, neither Imperium nor Chaos are particularly compelling to me from a narrative angle.
The only thing 100% off the table is Tyranids. Hit me. What are my choices?
Tau could get you under 60 models, maybe votann
If you want elite xenos your options are Votann and Tau if you build them right
Just stay away from kroot if you choose tau
Maybe you can have a little kroot as a treat
Aeldari have elite options but they're still T3 1W elves so they ever get that expensive
Nawwwwwwwwww you should totally field a shitton of kroot hounds
Unfortunately not legal
Lame and cringe
Anyway, I'm with Turtle on this one
Though I do feel I'm somewhat biased as a massive nerd for both factions
Both factions are cool
You could maybe do like wraith spam aledari but that's not exactly great right now
They both have the massive benefit in 40k of rad tech they know how to make more of
Votann have machines but iirc they won't be releasing rules for Ironkin units until... what was it, next monthish I think...?
I mean whenever the codex comes out
Like 2 weeks
Not quite next month but I was close
Votann aren't super elite either but they have a lot of vehicles which kinda makes up for it
They're slightly tougher but lower wounds/accuracy compared to space marines
Me when I say im a tau fan
Personally I say go for t'au, remind your opponent that the "Guh hu, t'au melee bad, updoot to left" memes are only accurate if you manage to get into melee to begin with
Okay but tau melee is objectively horrible
Same as world eaters shooting
(except forgefiends)
Forgefiends is cheating
Dang it. Thanks for the stupid right answer I was hoping wasn't the correct answer. (Because I did imply second army, right? My first Army is T'au. These answers boiil down to "Build more elite T'au lists")
Oh lol didn't know that
I mean by elite what are you after?
Like tanky or just high points per model?
Because Aeldari are offensively elite but still a fast trading army
If you're looking for high points per model the only options are Grey Knights and Custodes. Everyone costs too little in 10th
Because I didn't say it. Intentionally. Because I didn't want to poison the well.
Or you can play tank spam guard
Good luck fighting a t'au in melee, assuming the person fielding them knows how to play
Anyways I'm sure you've heard this before but you should choose your army on vibes first before rules
Real and true
Liking how an army generally plays is still important if you play a lot of the game
I mean Tau can be great in melee when they can just decide to shoot you
The general strategy of an army rarely changes too much over time
Custodes don't stop being elite
That's also true but I think the design team does a decent job of having visual vibes and gameplay line up most of the time
An effective army with a relatively small model count and portability. Da Dream (tm) is to be able to maybe fit a single 2k AoS and 2k 40k army in the same carry case..
Speaking of, I've been considering Grey Knights as a first army, do y'all recommend looking into something else or are they fine?
You're probably looking at like custodes or maybe GK or something unless it's a really big case
Only recently began to gain interest in wargaming 40k
They really need a rescale, and you need to be able to tolerate the baby carriers
Grey Knights kinda have the same problem genestealer cults do where the best time to get into them was a year before their 10th edition codex
Just because the older combat patrol was sooooooooo good
What do these terms mean
But they're not a bad army at all
The 10th codex is fine it's more the fact that they're likely going to get a rescale in the next couple years to make them not the tiny army
The size of their models compared to other space marines is kinda wacky
The models are old and newer space marines got a rescale and are now physically much taller
And the baby carrier is the nemesis dreadknight
It looks silly and is a core part of the army
Oh THAT fucking thing
Dread knights are one 3d print away from being cool though so if you have one of those available there are plenty of upgrade kits people have made online
See personal argument number 1 about how making Primaris Marines a lore thing was a mistake
It's very hard for GK to kill vehicles without it
If only they had their hammers 😞
Anyways yeah Grey Knights actually play really cool though
I'd hope the space wizard astartes would play cool
They don't really do magic this edition lol
They're armored like crazy but they aren't slow because they teleport all over the field
You get psychic weapons and some psychic flavored stuff
And yeah no magic, maybe 11th
But only thousand Sons get flavorful magic rules
If we're lucky we'll get magic back in 11th styled after AoS 4th magic
Where there isn't a dedicated phase they're just kinda like unit specific stratagems
Thousand sons are cool just don't get tricked into buying Tzangors
Instructions Unclear; built a 125 model Tzaangor list.
Honestly Saal Tsons is almost what you want
The only problem is Magnus
He's tall and might be hard to fit in a box with another army
And he's basically required to not make Tsons ritual magic not feel like a wet paper bag
But other than that they're pretty high costed points wise
That's fine. I'm allergic to named characters, anyway.
Your Dudes Supremacy
Look, if this fight is important enough that Magnus Is There, it's a book or a movie or a video game, not a 2000 point dust up on the kitchen table where that bag of dorritos is a ruin
Ah but you see Belisarius Cawl is hanging with my OC forge world because he thinks they're cool
Also Allergic To: canon colour schemes... Because Your Dudes Supermacy
That's honestly a major issue I have with the god legions. They're so focused on the demon primarchs even the codex feels like they have to bend over backwards to write lore with alt color schemes
I thought magnus wasnt as mandatory post-codex?
Is he not? I would have to ask my Tsons friend again
I hope he isn't
If that's the case then yeah check out thousand sons Saal
He does rituals better but its not like pre-codex when you needed him just to get enough cabal points
the big fotm unit for TSons now are Mutalith Vortex Beasts since they give a + to casting in an aura
I mean it's not like TSons have that many units to begin with so as long as it isn't an epic hero I'm fine with there being a must have unit
I have an answer but you’re gonna maybe hate it and hate me
You're about to say Tyranids, aren't you?
Outlander Claw or Biosanctic Broodsurge GSC can do sub-60 and quite frankly be good.
Or at least, about 60 and fit in a case just fine.
I fit my fuckass 150 model list on 2 trays
Lol I never considered that
You have so few vehicles and monsters that you can just fit everything horizontally and not take up much space that way
Wait tau melee isn't objectively bad, it's just objectively limited to like one unit. Rampagers. They're pretty good in melee actually
Kroot moment
Kroot are ok in melee for chaff too I suppose
Kroot merc guardsmen right
Yeah in melee they'll gobble up most other chaff
As long as they're the ones on the attack
Honestly? I don't really hate this answer that much. My problem with mainline 'nids is:
1️⃣ Ugly
2️⃣ Narratively Uninteresting
3️⃣ I don't want to play as a hurricane, I want to play as the guy evacuating from the hurricane
4️⃣ Ugly.
GSC subvert all those points. (Except that they worship the hurricane)
They tend to also fold like a blanket
I shit you not the tallest models in GSC if you don’t stack guys on top of the Goliaths (you should it looks damn good and who doesn’t love Mike & The Boys in the back of the ford super war)
Is the icon guys. The flags
Ouch do you think you could magnetize the flags somehow so you could detach them?
Yeah, they’re just 1-arm connections. Its easy peasy
Your vehicles all hide behind the cargo containers perfectly fine, they’re all rhino sized or smaller
That's cool 😎
So yeah Gyrtop is probably right (and the more compact your 40k army is the cooler your AoS army can be)
They’re not exactly gonna be the easiest army to play, and Outlander Claw has a somewhat higher floor than even the rest of GSC but the moment you figure them out you are not just the guy outrunning the hurricane, you’re the guy who’s gonna trap the hurricane inside a box and ship it to timbuktu
Outlander Claw is the best board control and scoring army in the game, like outright
My current AoS army is 75 skeletons and their houses (two trays)
The second one (still in progress) is a Bunch Of Elves. (Goal spot: About 45-52 models, depending on how you count the endless spells and faction terrain)
Nobody else can sticky every midfield objective at the start of round 1 and then just go and score every secondary every round while doing donuts around the map to moveblock the enemy off objectives
MMMmmm... I do love dumb board control and movement tricks.
(This may have been suggested by me playing T'au in the first place)
Every GSC army is 50 dirty tricks in a trenchcoat its the least honest warhammer you can play but it loops back to being cool as fuck
And you get to have a bunch of guys on dirtbikes. Your superstar units are just dirtbike revolutionaries and a toyota hilux with a lascannon in the bed
Chaos Knights vs GSC was so funny
When you play GSC you are embodying the mindset that every model on your side is a Battleifield Bad Company 2 player
"Every problem will be solved by running a truck into it and C4"
GSC players will dogwalk knights once they understand whats going on its very, very funny I just got a rep into imperial knights tonight - cleanse and sabotage were scored by a knight cerastus cuz nothing else was left
I did check the odds, 4 demo charges and the rest of a flamer squad with a primus for hit rerolls, before literally any detachment buffs (like sustained +no cover in host) or strats is 54% odds to kill a big knight
For the cost of 1 whole command point and 200pts. Explode a Knight Paladin. Then when they kill your 10 guardsmen equivalents to take the point back. Cult Ambush recharges One Shot weapons and you do that shit again
The problem they had was I kept eating their guys with scarily cost effective warhounds
This was Crusade
Yeah tons of warhounds is a lot harder to deal with, I think its doable but you need a different list
The more elite you get into GSC the easier day they have, but they fold into fast melee pressure a lot. Some of the biggest nightmares I’ve had are into like… Sisters, Ravenwing Dark Angels, and Emperors Children
My crusade master just gave our losing team the ability to select mission and attacker/defender for the entire phase
Armageddon has a ton of wild asymmetric missions
Why yes, person whose team objective is to end the match with units in my deployment zone, I need you to play the mission where you have to try to evacuate units off the board on the other side from my deployment zone
Trying to convince my store to try armageddon, nachmund burned people out a bit
Our general consensus is that it has a lot of cool ideas that would be 10x better if they had done any playtesting
The daemons are really fast and it makes them just a T1 road block more than something you can run from.
The hellscapes are really fun though, even if some hellscaoe/mission combos have some rules jank
And some of the asymmetric missions are cool concepts that are super tough for one side to actually win just based on the balance of points for certain objectives.
"Break his legs!"
Orks with tears in their eyes at the beauty.
landraider
Also re tau melee
I have won games off charges in tau
warhammer stuff in nottingham over at wplace
Had my game of Fantasy with my bretonnian boy.
We got attacked by beastmen and since I'm a darn fool and an up front fighter I just jumped out of the carriage and yelled "For the Lady!" Before smashing the axe into ones throat and killing them instantly. Very good start.
I like this system cause I feel tanky as someone who built tanky but I still got in trouble a few times, and you can choose to accept an injury or get knocked over or give ground. So when I got surrounded later on I wound up giving ground and being shoved through a door
Yeah there was brayherds in the area
I just imagined something funny in wplace, the lamenters all across the globe getting fucked over or bothered in any sort of way
The elf got shoved upstairs and took a moment to net a fucker so the halfling on the team could stab him to death.
It keeps battles moving, you can choose to recover or charge in, let yourself be vulnerable but keep attacking, it makes tanking a choice situation.
cursed imperial guard idea: armoured train company and an accompanying train yard board.
Guardsmen putting down tracks in front of the train like that scene from Wallace and Gromit
Ah man the stormwolf/storm fang doesn't even have legends rules right now 🙁
Rip da brick
I feel like this is just an illustration for GMing an rpg
In a curated scenario
I think it be neat to see a Khorne Space Marine warband that's more like the Blood Pact, extremely organized and elite rather then just the typical horde of berserkers.
you see some of that in the black legion
Yeah.
Yeah the Hounds of Abaddon are kinda that highly organized and disciplined Khorne warband
They have berserkers and such but their true specialty is naval operations
hounds of abbadon are gone now right, wiped out at cadia?
They’re still around aiui but their old leader is reforming in the warp
Admittedly the hounds of abaddon more or less exist by statute as the warband of Abaddon’s khorne aligned chosen so I wouldn’t be surprised if they took incredible casualties at Cadia
Violent maniacs with standards
Tzeentchian warband that intervenes to briefly aid Imperial forces so their "allies" get accused of heresy and purged/exiled
its a fun system in small campaigns
I'm really suprised there's not a Khorne demon who's a weapon smith - just all about the axes, swords, spears and shit, challenge it and win to get yourself a sweet demon weapon (Everyone who looses gets used as fodder for the next weapon forging, good luck)
Well... khorne weapon forging is hitting things into shape. Take how angron made his sword
There are a bunch of khorne daemons who are weapons
Like the swords bloodletters carry are... another bloodletter in sword form iirc
AoS supremacy here, really
Khornates 🤝 Tyranids
Sentient sword that thinks about stabbing
(Not that Khornates are the only ones using daemon swords tho)
Oh you mean how he beat a slaaneshi demon with a piece of metal until the demon and piece of metal fuse into a sword?
Is it confirmed ferrus had necrodermis or is that like a theory
All but confirmed in totality. He drowned a silvery beast in magma and his hands got covered in a 'living metal.'
There's not really anything else that it could be.
The silvery beast was probably just some necrodermis monster and not a necrons scarab, right?
Because the scarab would reform into itself and not a sick ass arm
Asirnoth was probably not a scarab but was probably a necron thing
As a youth, he discovered an "X" mark on the pod that first brought him to this world and that the chamber was too precise to be a natural formation. Exploring further, he discovered runes and electro-conductive stalagmites all around the chamber. His inspections awakened an imprisoned colossal bio-mechanical worm-like creature, which attacked him and escaped, ignoring his attacks. He followed its path of destruction and swore he would destroy the beast he had unwittingly released.
Asirnoth, the thing Ferrus killed is also called a Great Silver Wyrm. Wyrm is an archaic word for dragon. What else in 40k is silver, made of living metal, called a dragon, and has a connection to technology.
Okay I stand corrected
It's a shame that as of now none of the primarchs have met with necrons directly
I still think it's a bit unfortunate that there were 2 "Forge Primarch" characters, but one was actually the "Dying Primarch"
Its just confirmed he killed the wyrm by drowning it in magma and it fused to arms
Would i be surprised if for some reason its revisted and they say otherwise. Like its just some dark age of technology grey goo
A shame, he seemed like he had a good head on his shoulders
Fulgrims last words to him were "Sorry, can't have two smith primarchs, script says so"
Surely one of the Chaos ones have fought Necrons even if Guilliman and Lion haven't
I find in funny both chaos and loyalists have two definitely dead and never ever coming back primarchs.
if you mean Ferrus Mannus for the loyalists, technically he's already come back multiple times. He just got killed by Fulgrim everytime he did :P
Vulkan: Am I dead to you?
Vulkan and Alpharius are in the "KIA but we're pretty suure they'll be back" zone
Khan comes back and hes alpharius
Ferrus Manus's status is "ressurrection never lasts longer than 5 minutes" like some comics characters are like "death never lasts longer..."
Is ferrus known to ressurect, I thought the head thing was a permadeath
He's beheaded but also has been cloned like 100 timmes
Is the "ferrus ghost leads the legion of the dammed" canon or fanon?
There was also the Cult of the Gorgon affair
Where a bunch of rogue Iron Hands attached one of Ferrus's hands to a robotic puppet and pretended the primarch was back
Is it fulgrim or ferrus that trazen has a clone of in his musuem
Fulgrim IIRC
Damn did they both get cloned
I think Trazen's Fulgrim is sorta a time clone thing and not a test tube clone thing
So... there's one scene of Master of Mankind that implies it, but from Aaron Dembski-Bowden's comments the implication was accidental
If you go with the implication, it's that the entire Legion started with the fallen of Isstvan
But ADB was like "no that wasn't supposed to be the LotD"
This thread has the Master of Mankind quote and a lot of ADB comments about it
someone has used an Image to stl AI software to churn out the new Votann
truly, the best summation of warhammer lore
Could you delete this please? We have a no AI rule and even that aside, this is also piracy
Looks like absolute dogshit boss, none of it fits together and you can tell just lookin at it. Don’t post ai slop in here when people have rush sculpted the actual model in the same amount of time
I mean don’t post it at all in general but like this is somehow more pathetic
@grim mango deleted that for you and am repeating what briar has said, this goes against server rules a couple different ways, don’t do that
He also returned in The Death and the End via time shenanigans Horus did to fuck with Sanguinius. There was the webway thing, as mentioned, but he also showed up as basically a force ghost on Medusa and claimed he'd return at mankind's time of need.
His status is "dead, mostly" and it's rather doubtful that he'd really return but it's not impossible.
In a very like, "technically this can happen" sense any dead primarch can return because GW set it up that way. Curze is dead but we never see the act of his head getting lobbed off and his assassin never made it back to Terra, so there's just enough plausible deniability for GW to squeeze in a return. Maybe he didn't really die and it was someone else. Maybe they took his head back and slapped it on top and it just took a few thousand years for it to fully attach or something, who knows.
Sanguinius died to Horus, but the Blood Angels have his perfectly preserved corpse on Baal and it's never decayed over 10,000 years. That leaves an angle for his spirit to somehow return into that corpse, either because of that whole "psychic echo living in the BA" angle or something to do with the golden angel, or his spirit just sorta wanders back in there after drifting through the warp.
Might be a fragment, might be its own thing.
bring back ferrus but only as a head.
a head with different machine bodies.
Amazing screw-on ferrus
Ahh apologies! I didn't realize there was a no AI policy or that that would trigger it! I just saw the picture online and wanted to have a discussion on the ethics of it! cause yeah I agree with @sour sequoia it is slop and people could and have done so much better in the same amount of time! its just worrying that this kind of stuff could be seen everywhere now
in regards to sangy his soul is basically trapped on the vengeful spirt
Maybe I’m getting whooshed but is that a new Nightbringer?
they are just throwing fuckin anything in killteam now lmao
wait NEW NIGHTBRINGER?!?
Yeah the teams gonna get fucking killed lol
just drop god on those 5 to 9 random dudes over there thatll sort it out
I can’t believe they made Mountainside Tabletop’s silly “Angron in Kill Team” mode real
I’m so stoked for new raptors and raptors kill team
Ough it’s leak oclock
Both teams look fucking sick
Is this suggesting a 3-faction box? That's surprising
My guess is that the box has Nightbringer as a big NPO centerpiece
Kinda like the big ass statue in the last box
Seems like a very high threat level to face for a kill team lol
I don’t have good enough Spanish to parse the rules fully but I think it’s like a neutral boss hazard?
That would make sense. Or the mission involves being careful not to wake it up
25 wounds and all those rules seem to make it impossible to kill
I think it just respawns if killed
Sadly the light bar messes the Google lens translate thing a bit. But it appears to do that. Which is hilarious because killing it in the first place seems pretty hard
Yeah 25 wounds and a 4+ which ignores piercing 1 is pretty hard
It’s not impossible
It’s only a little harder than a Ravener or Patriarch
But how badly do you want to expose a melta gun vs a guy who just comes back?
It has some activation/deactivation rule going on
oh god please not again
No
I don't want to go back to elites
please
that ruined 2018
He’s an NPO
Either for the box’s PVE campaign or a special “don’t get Nightbringer’d while fighting in KT” mission or both
My biggest fear is the backslide to how 2018 spiraled to its end
Commanders was OK but introduced 20 model teams
count down until nightlords codex starts NOW
and then elites came out and fucking bombed the already irritated ground
Nightlords tying LotD for most chaos kill teams is hella funny
They’ve got 2 now!
Oh yeah, Thats hot. Both these teams are good
Glad we are getting a third flying team
or well
2nd deepstrike team i guess
I think it’s mildly ironic they’re coming out on the new ITD style board
But I like it
From what little I’ve seen of it it looks easier to assemble than the old ITD
Admittedly, this is a very low bar
Its great for the amount of variation possible
and the box ITD came with fits my killteam stuff and the terrain
SO satisfyingly well
but yeah the new terrain just needs to make sure its good enough
At the same time
I REALLY think they better give Volkus some more maps to use because elevation for me in a skirmish is KING
Honestly, given shards can be any size, you could kinda sorta maybe justify a really small nightbringer shard in kill team
I’m not actually that familiar with them beyond them being the Scary CSM and also the Damp Cat CSM
chainglaives are a thing for us yeah
lets us stay farther away so we can run away easier
Chainglaives have been a NL thing for at least like 10 years I'd say
Makes sense
You know all this time I didn't know the BA had Sang's corpse
Would it have been bad if the nids had won and consumed sang?
Probably not a huge deal?
I don’t know if the primarchs are biological enough to be interesting to the Tyranids
Major blow to the BA spiritually ofc
I think it'd be just as much of a blow as losing a Custode to the nids
Not moral levels sorry
i meant biologically interesting
Grey Knights have a stratagem called "Giants of the Battlefield" despite still being smol marines
oh my god they finally update the model and it's in a giant kill team box???
They’ll release it as a solo box in a bit
But yeah initially it’s a kill team box lol
Honestly the most exciting thing to me is I can now fully put the old one on the shelf and make him a display model
Finish painting all the lil stars in his cloak and varnish it up
I certainly hope so
I have concerns because of what they did to the skorpekh lord
What do you mean?
For KT boxes there’s been a fair amount of “40K crossover” teams (wreckas, scouts, inquisition, etc) and they’ve all gotten KT and bighammer boxes
We haven’t gotten a new release NPO before but I imagine it will be similar
Isn't it like, 8 month delay for it or am I overblowing that number
I remember people being really annoyed by how seperate the releases were
It has been but that was Nightmare which was unusually long
Usually it’s like 3 months iirc
Gotcha
well I can probably wait 8 months at the speed I'm painting these crons lmao
it was in indomitus then re-released only as part of the comically expensive (at least here) Royal Court box and now you can only find it on ebay
Usually the crossover units are less complex than their kt selves, but it works out
Ahh, the starter set special
I think something similar happened with Obliterators and the Venomthrope for CSM
AND YOU CANT RUN OBLITERATORS IN 4's!
Starter sets are weird because of how they combine the models on sprues. I don't think they do this for kill team, or even other combo boxes?
obliterators are still considered good right?
Very
They’re solid
That’s admittedly much of the CSM roster we’re a pretty healthy faction for internal balance
I feel like I dont see chosen or warp talons that much but they’re both still good
Finally!
Hell yeah
Wait where is that from I don’t see it on warcom?
Ahhh
Oh wow this leaked early huh
Makes sense
The box before it (necrons vs deathwatch) hasn’t even launched
I'm a huge fan of this actually. Using kill team to update models that would have to wait for new editions is really cool actually
Yeah the back door model update pipeline is cool
And the KTs we’ve gotten out of it kick ass
I also like this because every time there's an Imperial KillTeam update there's the chance Imperial Agents get an interesting new tool that won't solve their problems but will be fun.
The prior updates from kill team were always just going to be units of dudes but the NPO stuff means that we can get bigger models tol
Necrons still had a few finecast stuff and it sucked
Sucks also
Trayzn is still finecast
You know it's funny, this is a mild Tangent, but i feel like the tau aren't really strong right now but they are well balanced internally for the most part
They're just not playing well into the broad competitive meta
Tau are very well internally balanced
Almost everything has a place, I think the exceptions right now are strike teams and the aircraft? But they’re still usable, arguably, just not great
God a box of these things is like a full hobby day
Two different multipart sets of fingies per terminator.
Saturnine Terminators outta the new horus heresy box
There’s also a Saturnine Dreadnought who sits on a goddamn 100mm
Dread the size of a Keeper of Secrets
Brother we're sorry about your near death but you will continue to serve in this house sized mega robot
Throwin myself into harms way over and over for a chance to drunk drive this mf
You died tragically in a drunk driving accident but your service is not over yet
ill be honest, the big pauldrons feel like a distillation of power armor on a comedic level
like bigger and bigger shoulders
That's why it's peak 🥺
I’d be tempted by the saturnine box if there wasn’t also forty mk2 marines in there
I’ve got twenty mk6 marines on foot already
It's so weird to make a starter box for Horus Heresy
Especially when there is only one mega death robot
It's kind of hard to split the box with someone else that way
You vs the shard the king says not to worry about
I wonder if this means they're gonna make a new model for bananaman too ? 🤔
One would hope.
The worst news a white scar could hear, "you gotta be in a slow terminator"
gawd damn
Wait is this actually the new model coming or is that fan custom?
kill team leaks in Spanish
entire FLGS pings me to translate for them
My Spanish isn't this good, fam.
its from a leaked kill team box of all things
its an NPO in the Sisters of Battle v Nightlords box thats coming out next after tomb world (probably)
which is imo one of the most random places they could have dropped it lol
It's like Spelunky. Get in the Necron tomb, blow stuff up and loot the place before the big scary ghost shows up
oh wait apparently GW has responded to this by officially confirming it
or at least the Nightbringer
Yeah, they posted the Nightie on Insta. Haven't confirmed the witchhunters or the havocs yet
it shouldn't be a point in GW's favor that they respond to leaks by confirming stuff rather than hiring the Pinkertons
and yet
Not hiring the Pinkertons is neutral I think
But immediately confirming leaks instead of stringing things out for a few weeks is notable
And I assume they were able to push a Nightbringer vid out the door but the Celestines and Raptors reveal is just not ready
No one gets bonus points for not hiring Pinkertons, that's normal
That's the starting line
Yeah
Oh wait, just not dropping it all in literally one day, legit
And tomorrow, we’ll be looking at two new Kill Teams, which will be arriving around the same time as the Nightbringer.
Iirc the telemon is also on a 100mm
Pretty excited for celestian team
Though a little sad at lack of gun nuns
I like shield nun and crossbow pistol is pretty cool
Also power claymore is pretty awesome
You can also kinda think that in universe that the telemon is a greater refinement of the Saturnine tech
if they suspect the leak to be internal they will track it down, they are pretty standard in just firing anyone who leaks w/e it is
"around the same time" is an interesting phrasing as it very slightly implies it isn't boxed with the kill teams as has been speculated
i'm movin different
dracula flow is from plummcorp records dont delete my video!!!
warhammer 40k is from games workshop ya jit
How are people feeling about the new Grey Knights?
NL players been eating good in KT
OHHH I didn't realize
Its dual later play
Hmm
-# Do I get 2 Tunnels for Raveners?
AHHH thats right though
We gotta wait past the new Deathwatch and Necrons +whatever is inbetween before we get the shadowhunt
Huh that’ll be strange yeah
The box they came with did have 2 sets of tunnel markers 0~4
So MAYBE?
That'd make them SUPER strong on that map if thats the case.
But, These are probably not going to be a serious form of play either so like, big strong (at kitchen table games)
stumbled across a little someone in one of my local game stores
huh, I did not know he had a model
oh nice
he was released with rhan
who despite get produced in batches of 1000 is perma out of stock
Oh, the raptor/warp talon kill team is not Nightlords
I'm also curious as to how the sprues work as it looks like there is a single warp talon operative and also a chaos lord
Yeah surprised me haha
A chaos lord seems a bit big for a kill team?
They just use NL base paint
My guess is it’s an update to the older Raptors/WT box
Oh, nvm the curse claw is not the warp talon
5 guys with options for either (and specialists?) and Señor Del Caos to round out to 6
What is the difference between a raptor and warp talon?
Is it just "one uses power claws"?
Yeah
From the era when GW made as many build 2 ways kits as possible
They also have different heads and jump pack greebles
As for size he’ll probably be like the space marine captain or close to it
Prolly -1 wound and +something movement
My guess is 6” move but team rule is a special Boost action which lets them fly their speed on top of the normal reposition and dash
Are captains and chaos lords about the same level in-universe wise?
(Which would be fucked up if true - 20” melee threat range)
Yeah
Kind of weird they are on a kill team. I guess it's Star Trek away team rules
Gotta have the gachapon captain
Ok I’m probably wrong
But this sounds better anyway
I wonder if you could make this 2v2 with 2 full sized boards…
I will be honest I become 300% more grognard whenever I see GW naming new 40k units
what happened to "Raptor Chaos Lord" or similar
Chaos space marines get a pass I need my Coldsteels
I am comfortably ensconced in 30k where if I need a centurion who is a terminator he's called a terminator centurion, honestly
my coldsteel the hedgehogs are in the Militia and Cults allied det, who are huge tryhards
3e militia rules should be this month
I do think it’s funny how they’re a Murderwing with a bunch of nonsense operative names (Depredator lmao) “held in check” by a Chaos Lord
Who’s just a Rebox of the “chaos lord with jump pack” kit
What sorts of names do they get?
the 3e rules for them are due in the next couple of weeks, so no official ones yet, but currently they're using Solar Auxilia rules to run their many lasgun chumps, and they have one grandiose name per SM legion
Leonardo Depredator
it's more "roman statue avatar" than "coldsteel the hedgehog" but still
Sparatoi Vindicta are the AL auxiliaries and they have a fun button that lets you make the enemy waste their AT shots on your infantry chumps, so I'm mostly going for those and screening my mechanicum beep books
alas they cannot cover my Sons of Horus because they can only work with their own Space Marine legions, although you can tape them to any non-legion army
Archite Palatines are EC aligned right?
yeah
their thing is that they get to shuffle everyone within 12" around when they pass leadership checks
so your entire army of infantry can run up the board as long as nobody starts shooting phosphex at them to make them almost auto-rout
Apparently this is from the new codex? Maybe divisive lore but I like the GK so much
I wonder if they also have dumb, wasteful initiation rituals and this wouldn't be a problem if they just stopped doing those
almost definitely
They probably do since they have a whole complex about purity
saw this on a 40k server, thought this might interest a few of you tts gamers
it generates a html reference page with all your abilities and stratagems divided by phase
so that you can have it open on the side or somethign
I mean, in questionable fairness, these are the guys with the most reason to be constantly hung up about impurity
but yeah I dig this, I always support lore that gives Imperials reasons to kill each other
The Grey knights have been stealing all of the black Templars psycher recruits! Jk jk
The GKs have also was been victims of rough writing
That’s… actually super plausible haha
Since the IFs do largely centralized recruiting it’d be a great spot for a pipeline
every so often they let a grey knight show up anonymously to the feast of blades
1 this is pretty cool, but 2. man I thought you were saying that they were giving Shadowsun a rules refresh that included like a 2 layer kill zone and I let myself get excited about it before rereading
remember kids if youre in a fair fight your tactics suck
Doesn’t look like enough of a wet rat, incorrect
personally i think curze is more a turbo depressed black metal fan rather than emo
WAIT
BEHOLD THE GLORIOUS PRIMARCH
The funny thing is Curze probably would hate night lords fans
White Scars equivalent: If youre having issues, have you considered going faster?
Enemies
Debt Collectors
Bad Thoughts if your quick
He really would. Cruze/nighthaunter tries to be a "noble" monster. The worst of the worst to have you do better
Maybe... punisher cranked to 20
Batman but turbo evil
Ish
Punisher would be more apt
Punisher if he killed so much the entire planet was scared straight
He also believes you gain order through fear, and having someone adore you means they're not afraid of you enough
He was pretty much right in the end, imperium runs on like 40% fear, 40% numerous guardsmen, and 40% tec
There are nightlords that believe in the "scared straight" tactics but many many more are in it for the love of the game
Didnt Curze hate them for that
Yeah he ended up despising the night lords
Basically as an extension of hating himself and for similar reasons
OG nightlords shared his beliefs, later ones just wanted to be terrible
Yeah the Terran born NLs understood his reasoning. The later recruits where the very criminal nostramans he oppressed with fear
Lorgar and Curze in the end got what they wanted
He 100% would
he would be like "why would you like them? These guys suck!" He hated his own legion after all lmao
yeah basically within a generation or two of kurze leaving nostramo it revered back to being a crime ridden place
:D
The early nostromo-ans got his reasoning
The painted count resented him for it though
Musings inspired by the 40k lore subreddit and someone asking why there aren't more imperial saints (ala Celestine)
Emps is becoming a order God, not a chaos god. This is why "none may match my will". But as a result, he's not splitting himself in the same way chaos gods are with their daemons - he's a high pressure water cutter to their horizon filling fires
Saints are more empowered mortal champions ala chaos champions under this theory, and it's why there's less of them - emps can't split his focus or power in the same way. (This would also in theory fit with the fact that emps cut chunks of his personality off in the end and the death to avoid going all The Dark King)
Itd make sense
Cawl mentions with fabius bile that no one chooses to become a god, they either were one or others make that choice for him
As for why Fabius would never usurp the Emperor, you cant make yourself a god you will always fail once you get close. And also implies emps is a god literal even though he had negative intent of doing sg
Imperium at this point has so much psychic juice for one entity
And with more psykers popping up means more people more strongly powering the emps
I'm still entirely baffled by Celestine compared to all the other saints
Why so
my friends... next i think i will look for a beastflayer or goremayne
I think while theres obviously a lot less imperial saints than daemons the whole trademarked, modelled character bias hides how many there are
Like even if celestine is unique to some extent for her range or whatever her primary purpose is to be an example of the type of character that exists in the world
Unlike ephrael stern where her deal is to be unique celestine is just like hey this is one of the imperial saints, go make your own
And even in 2e it was a different lady
In spear of faith there's multiple saints
They even get jobbed out
In fairness the antagonist is named "The Death of Saints"
shes not a psychotic for one, like people say that shes just got some serious faith powers going on but the whole religion is about turbomurder
Fabius genuinely doesn't want his mutant spawn to worship him and he's uncomfortable with it
I think the point is cawl was pointing out how long hes lived and how many people hes seen want to be like emps but theyre so much lesser than the emps in both power and plan
Or believe they can do better than his original plan which cawl knows
I have long found sisters of battle cute. I'm glad people are catching up

Is Ahriman all deformed under that armor?
Asking cause the other champions seem to be somewhat mutaded
Except maybe Kharn?
No he’s Totally Normal
No what I’m saying is that Ahriman believed himself unchanged but his actual appearance is mutable and shifting and no one knows what he really looks like
It’s been described as a “screaming void” for a face by Khayon but this is apparently a subjective or illusory appearance
And there is no solid truth at all of Ahriman’s present true form
Dudes been fucked since thr heresy
It’s funny how he and Fabius are kinda the biggest “I’m not owned! I’m not owned!” guys of the CSM
“Nah bro I’m totally independent and in control of my own destiny, no greater powers have any hold on me”
That XKCD train comic with Abaddon, Perturabo, Fabius, Alpha Legion, Ahriman
Kinda shocked the Chaos Lord in termie armor is from 4th, looks good for it's age.
Its a great kit
Unless a sister of silence saw him i suppose. Likely it would be a tired looking husk of a shape of a man
I honestly bet that if fabius bile had any sense of humor Cegorach probably would have sponsored him by now
I’m paraphrasing the writers there actually - the truth of Ahriman’s form is apparently just an explicit unknown kinda like the lost legions
On the word of ariman, can there be new thousand sons?
Yes yes I already know about the blood ravens thing
I mean knowingly implanting thousand son gene seed into a psyker child
I think they can do that yeah
I think you can actually make new Rubricae by making non-psyker space marines with their geneseed and they just like, spontaneously turn to ash or smth
Tzeech would laugh and warp the armor to be like the other rubricae
Yeah probably
It is also absolutely something ariman would have tried
Apparently they can make a new Rubric Marines from long dead Thousand Sons.
Yeah IIRC this canonically happened when they tried making new non-Rubrics
And Tzeentch went "hah, nope"
Y'all, I sent Opp's Land Raider to the junkyard turn 1 today.
I think I have become chronically unable to take Land Raiders seriously.
It's funny cause you fight Thousand Sons in SM2 and mowing through like 200 during the campaign
So much glitter everywhere
And like a couple dozen sorcerers
Those guys don't come back
I thought they did.
the sorcerers? I don't think so, can't just sweep up the dust and pour them back into a new suit
Oh, the sorcerers I know, don't come back. I was thinking that the rubriquet, just sort of clang back together eventually
What’d you hit it with lmao
One (1) Sky Ray and One (1) Hammerhead
The Sky Ray did most of the work.
IE: Got it down to seven wounds so that the d6+6 damage roll from the Hammerhead did not matter.
Ooooh that’ll do it, I’m just shocked somebody let you line that up
Looking at this and realizing anything above minimum damage gibs every vehicle in GSC lmaoooooo
“Yeah you could say I’m pretty tough”
scout sentinel on a bloodthirster base
Yea I meant only the sorcerers
"Let" is a strong word.
GAH! Horus Heresy has so many cool legion specific Praetors and units it makes me want to list build them all.

I like Cawl
sorry cawl but you cant facts and logic your way out of 10000 years of dogma
He sort of did
Also because like 80% of the magos were in cawl's pocket one way or another so they sided with him iirc
I think that makes him hilarious
Cawl can have a little technoheresy, as a treat.
Only bordering but not officially
terraining it
oh sick
Loved that terrain kit and it's a shame GW doesn't produce it anymore.
Aeldari armor is pretty cool
Btw, are Drukhari okay with you going out to be a corsair? I heard corsairs often go to the drukhari city for contracts
Relatively okay with it
Two GTs on back to back weekends lets boogie
Gonna fry my brain like bacon playing six rounds of chessclock swarm GSC
So for someone who doesnt know the wargame at all, whats the most of any single minis could you field
You can field a max of 3 chaff units
so stuff like Gnoblars, Hormagaunts, stuff like that
I think it'd be something with easy resurrection
like Hormagaunts or Guardsmen
Kriegsmen are battleline and you can get like 60 of them.
Guard can put a lot of really fragile guy with a gun on the table if they really set themselves to it.
Gaunts can also flood pretty well.
Pox Walkers in Death Guard you can get a fair number of too.
Chaos cultists are peak chaff IMO
25 models with an HQ of just goobers with a 5++ that might spike some lucky lethals
Anything that's battleline with 20 man squads is going to get you the big silly numbers
If you take "most of any single mini" literally the answer is hands-down Guard
Because you can passably use the same mini in battleline squads and command squads and other infantry squads
Even if you need to keep like the Sgts and LTs and heavy weapon guys distinct
120 gargoyle might take the cake for most miserable swarm list possible
They're probably the largest models for how cheap they are because of their wings
This list is also over 200 models
swarmswarmswarmswarmswarm
I think it might be GSC
- Neophyte Hybrids 20x6 (120)
- Neophyte Hybrids with autopistols (6x10) (60)
- Neophyte Hybrids with hand flamers: (6x10) (60)
240 of the same models
Since they come with 3 datasheets
Yeah I think that has to be the winner
As yes, the good ole "Please kill some of these for me"
This is genestealer cults neophytes are a renewable resource
The gargoyles is a suffering maximizing list
Because you get surge moves from your detachment, then have a move shoot move ability, so you just spend all game moving this top heavy models in groups of 20
Augh
I think I'd rather the cult then
It is such a silly detachment ability for a horde army (I think it should have gone on the monster one >.>)
The ideal I really like painting one guy army
Yeah
Technically the latter two units are Acolyte Hybrids and the GW models do look genestealer-ier than Neophytes
oh, huh
So I think it's similar to if you had eg. a Krieg army list and used some Krieg models for Cadian Shock Troops, which I still think is legit if you give em proper gear and paint them distinctive
I was looking at blood angels Heresy stuff and wow the dawnbreakers heads are perfect for the "Blood Angels but Knights" my custom chapter has going on.
HH has some great helm upgrades
Ogors are hongry lads
Sadly they don't sell the second set anymore.
UHhhhhh super sentai eldar aspect warrior show BOOM
You could even have a green ranger (incubi) become a white ranger (aspect warrior)
Red Ranger: Warp Spider. Blue: Dire Avenger. Black: Dark Reaper Green: Striking Scorpion. White: Howling Banshee. Dark Ranger: Incubi -> Shadow Ranger: Shadow Spectre.
Orange: Fire Dragon. SIlver: Shining Spear. Aqua: Swooping Hawk.
Super sentai aeldari is just the phoenix lords
Dawn of war 4 promotional art just leaked with blood Ravens, admech and necrons
And orks I think
finally, the emperors Hellgrammites primaris Lieutenant
From Reddit:
The good news is they still got 39,997 attempts at a Dawn of War game to get it right
Oh sick, AdMech
necrons
orks
admech
blood ravens
ITS ALL THIEVES
Warhammer 40,000 - Dawn of Yoink
in the grim darkness of the far future, there are only heists
Honestly should be the tag line for the Black Library, given that every time it shows up in the fiction someone new has snuck in and stolen something from it.
I love this meme list: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65VRdFC8RiA&t=253s
On this week’s episode, Brad and Eric are finally back together to discuss one of the greatest points of contention of the century. No matter your background, your country, your religion, beliefs, this topic affects all of us and is present in every action we take in modern society: memes.

Tl;dw ||it is a Knight detachment with no Knights||
||Are we counting the lil guys as knights or no?||
Yes ||absolutely no knight codex units||
Oh my god
||Yes the Knightless Knight is good, but what about the Uma Musume list?||
I'm still watching the episode 😅
It's fine. I only spoiled the one I did because I think they did a great job with the setup to the punchline
lmao, this is a wild set of associations being made here
Brainrot takes us to the strangest of places
tbf, they do show their hand in the thumbnail
Which archetye do they run you think?
How to play Knights after the points nerf.
Also probably one of the few lists that is legal in multiple factions.
Got me really tempted to put all the phoenix lords as basing gore on that new nightbringer
I guess two is more than usual, ha
Brood brothers could (and maybe still can) do a no genestealer gsc list
Huh, how do they pull that off?
Please be good this time
1 and 2 were good in their own ways. I know some people liked 3 but also agree it was pretty far away from what people were wanting or expecting
If they bring Last Stand mode back 10/10 no notes
Take guard, up to cap, your army contains only imperium units so you can ally agents and knights
New one?
Huh, I didn't realize it was worded that way. That's funny
Dawn of War 4 confirmed at Games com
Steam page exists: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2272360/Warhammer_40000_Dawn_of_War_IV/
Take charge of four unique Warhammer 40,000 factions: the Space Marines, Orks, Necrons, and the Adeptus Mechanicus in their Dawn of War debut. Each faction grants you total control of a unique collection of Commanders, units, buildings and gameplay mechanics that dramatically alter the feel and flow of Warhammer 40,000’s endless, brutal warfare…
Coming soon
Ok, the Blood Ravens are there for revenge, the Necrons presumably were napping there, and the Ad Mech are presumably there to loot from and annoy the Necrons. And then there are the orcs. Who I assume are just there for a good time.
...plus a return of Dawn of War 2's beloved Last Stand mode - effectively a horde-based survival challenge where you hold out against waves of enemies.
y'all I'm all in
No, it's all thieving factions. 😛
Blood Ravens are there for revenge: getting back the item they rightfully stole first
Last Stand was pretty fun even if I was rubbish at it. I hope the progression is more generous though
Amongst all this there's also one new, genuinely interesting addition, in something KING Art calls the "combat director". This is essentially an animation system that's been created by the studio, whereby every single unit will lock onto an enemy unit when in melee, for properly synched-up fighting animations - so rather than units swinging at the air as is the norm for an RTS, instead each one is directly fighting with another in a properly choreographed way.
That's a neat bit of tech to put into an RTS
Used to be in total war
"used to be"? Did they take it out?
Yeah
Huh, weird. Was it for performance reasons or something?
I love that they took the iStock watermarked version to animate
It adds character

You used to but now they say your warlord must be a GSC unit, and bringing one GSC unit means no knights/agents
while I was never that into Dawn of War, I do appreciate the one second shot in there of a tech-priest axing a guy and then crushing the one behind him with his servo-arm
very stylish
It was funny to me that the main admech shot had them doing so well in melee lol
they are not devoid of choppy
there's a great bit in a HH book where a Myrmidon suplexes an Emperor's Child
It does make me a little sad watching Necrons job continuously but otherwise I am very excited
Ooops all looters
The first looter looter
The main badge of rank for the Mechanicus, besides the red robes, is the axe afterall
One of them did get to stab an important dude fatally. But it was funny that the Orks were doing better at killing space marines
Orks is made for fighting and winning
I guess they had to repent for the Dark Crusade intro where they wipe out a bunch of Blood Ravens
You re either a winner or dead
Nearly every ork alive has won every battle*
If they didnt win, the battle still going on at a later time
Oh what's fun there is I think between DoW: Dark Crusade and now, Necrons stopped being mindless, unfathomable robots and turned into a faction where the leaders have personalities?
It did yeah
There were some intelligent lords back then but that was like it
I think the DC necron campaign was like the Lord, a Pariah, and a narrator?
Yeah, I think in Soulstorm the Deceiver Shard also got some speaking lines
Oh, yeah I think it did

Sorry i just kneejerk replied i shoulda scrolled
