Yeah so Imma swap it for plasma with plasma accelerator
The Necron one has a few bespoke models but they’re not super hard to counts-as
If the enforcer was in a Starscythes with flamers yeah. For the 1 CP reroll when determining total attacks
But farsight is leading the flamers (for the +1 to wound and the reduced stratagem cost/br)
I also decided on two broadsides with missile systems, high yield, and weapon support to ignore modifiers to hit. My reasoning? The lethal + sustained hits stratagem (sure I have hazardous but I also have a 4+ FNP on mortals so fuck it we ball)
If you have indomitus you basically have identical models to the bespoke ones tbf
I don't have 2 plasmacytes but I but a Plasmancer could sub in for apprentek
guys should i try running my paired stormsurge list for the lols?
I'm a fan of the official Gorkanaut & Morkanaut models for Warhammer 40k, but I like my Ork vehicles looking a bit more imposing. These Ork vehicles were inspired by massive Dump Trucks meant for the mining industry, but I think they came out looking a bit more like those giant Garbage robots from Wall-E!
Templates:
Any of the Mancers
Plasmacyte
The other cyte
Aprentek
Any combo of 3 deathmarks or immortals
Despotek
Oh
Yeah u already saw it
Mild complaint as someone getting into 40k seriously for the first time
Man all the proper nouns are really fucking annoying
Have 3 separate destroyer variants that all have different names rather than descriptors sucks
That’s all
Just mildly frustrated by it lol
All proper nouns all the way down
The guard tank variants are what really throws me
Every tank gun type is just a different version of a word for "kills you bigly"
Extremely surprised the HellLord isn’t a thing
They dont even have copyrightability as an excuse for that
Oh I meant for the leman russ I forgot about the baneblade brothers
Probably want to use Hell Lord and Fell Lord for Chaos models
only reason I can think for it
What faction is the most self descriptive
Do imperial guard occupy both ends of the spectrum
Like the baneblade and leman russ stuff is bad but then they have like
Command squad. Infantry squad. Heavy weapon squad
Chaos knights is decent tbh
Chaos knights are relatively okay because they dont have separate names for every loadout yeah
And the names kinda match how they kill you
I feel like the FellLord should probably be a giant vanquisher cannon, an anti-armor kinetic weapon
Which I suppose is slightly redundant with the Shadowsword and Banesword but I feel like it's a conceptual niche
HellLord is just a baneblade chassis basilisk
With an appropriately scaled up cannon
That is exactly what I was going tonuse these for in the table top
This that meant to be ashen claws?
No, it isnt.
This is why you must give them proper "gloria est" or "Solemn Penance" or even "two for flinching" names
I've always been a fan of the halo settings ship name vibes
Pillar of Autumn, In Amber Clad
Two for flinching is a halo ship name for folks that don't know
As is solemn penance but that could easily also be a black templars ship name
But also no this would not help at all lmao
The necron destroyers are actually relatively okay? Like compared to primaris
Lokhust is the copyright name for the classic destroyer(s), cause theyre flying around like bugs and also their body is vaguely beetle shaped
Then skorpekh are the ones with many legs like scorpions have
And then uh, okay to be real I have no idea what the other one is called but thats okay cause its The Other One
Uh and then bonus round the hexmark has six guns and is a deathmark/destroyer combo
Huh I somehow didn't know about Ophydian destroyers
But that one also kinda makes sense cause they're snakey
Oh yeah that would do it
I think they were in the codex wave
Which was like. At the start of the pandemic
Theyre kinda cool though cause theyre like
3e necron wraiths
Before they were canoptek wraiths
yeah for sure
See but now
They don’t even have that
Because they have the cadian, catchan, and krieg versions
Of all 3 of those lol
votann are GREAT at that
Quick lore question about fantasy/ AOS. If death magic is the purple wind, why are all the spirits green?
Im boutta lose my mind chat why is a color scheme so hard
I'm partial to teal and copper.
They are a contrast iirc
Ig theyre just evil colours
Yk what, fuck it we ball
Fuck
it
we
ball
Nighthaunt are blue but their magic is often green anyway
Orange n' Black
Orange is very flashy which is ironic for an army that focuses on stealth
Ah geez what was that SM chapter with the nauseating purple & green scheme
I remember like late 4e early 5e you’d see a paint job on the forums occasionally
High confidence interval that it was from official material; I want to say maybe Soul Drinkers? but I’m picturing the book covers and they are Just Purple
Paint your army Olo
..... joker marines
hard to do cmyk color pickers while still in a digital space lol
Theyre complementary in cmy too
Or like magenta green is
Its just like the primary school ryb is pseudoscientific and Im really mad about it now
oh tell me more?
how so?
it’s based on the behavior of common pigments rather than that of light itself
technically speaking magenta is not real. We can see it because our brains smashbthe colours together. Or am I thinking of violet?
Magenta isnt real because its where the ends of our colour spectrum meet
But thats why magenta can exist in a subtractive colour process, because it blocks green light and causes you to see red and blue light simultaneously, which the brain processes as magenta
But anyway the idea of red yellow and blue being the primary colours is just a like. Guess. That weve known is wrong for a very long time
But its still taught even as it demonstrably does not work
And you just end up with bleh muddy colours
But this is how like, all pigments work. So magenta is as real as anything being any colour is real
So i wanna paint my boys orange and black. Question is does Rust and Black still work for the heavier marines?
I want my lighter units to be orange with hints of black, while the heavier units like terminators replace their orange with literal rust
Oh yeah that sounds dope
It is.
That's a lotta rust
I just realized I have a Sailor Moon nail plate, and the only thing stopping me from making Sailor Scout Marines is buying some Space Marines.
Horrifying concept (buying space marines)
Consider: getting some maid marines printed out.
oh my GOD
i will make you sailor scout marine models if you promise to paint them and do this
i am not joking
this is within my capacity
i made these guys in just the last few days
Does that guy have a shuriken catapult
Neat!
and shuriken catapults were just needle guns back in the day
I also love bowl cut
Ok. DM me and we can work out the details.
Damn my salt is gone I just needed a break from necrons I think
GSC feel good as fuck
Lost 50-63, into deathwatch, lotta burning and back and forth killing. Host of Ascension’s go-turn is nuts
Gsc look like they're fun and dynamic to play
Just have to be ok with generally not high quality units, with some exceptions
You have a lot of timings to hit and then trying to protect or preserve units who die into real fights
But I think a lot of armies would kill to have things like a Primus w/ Chink In Their Armor, Benefictus, or Ridgerunners
i gotta figure out my necron colors/aesthetic
The artist for nekona/ the space maids is making a codex btw
I printed their models that someone made based on the art
Very good sculpts
They are my kill team for AoD and go real hard
Most crucial fight of today’s crusade game and Im not even kidding
If the nurglings survive more than 1 round I deterministically lose on VP
If the scarabs win I deterministically win on VP
fuckin blob fight
its like epic 40k all over again
I have killed: Belakor, 2 Great Unclean Ones, 2 Bloodthirsters
And the fucking nurglings are sealing the game
Scarabs didn’t do it boys 😔
I have a nice amount of heresy infantry bits
What kinda units should i try kitbashing, chat?
Scarabs get it near crypteks, nurglings get it near characters iirc - but the sitrep at hand for nachmund gauntlet crusade is an asymmetrical one that just cares about the attacker’s units being in my back zone of deployment
Holy shit what kinda objective is this i wanna try this in my gamestore 👁️
Is it Layered Defense?
Ohhh i see wait
Okay
I get it now
do yall think it is easy to befriend an ogryn?
"Ey, Mate, You want sum of my extra rations"
Johnathan the Ogryn will now Take a mortal blow for you
Funnily enough i'm gunna be building my Bullgryn for my Ratling kill team today
-# Excited to play them and have a chance against any team that has any sort of melee, Instead of keeling over at the first sight of trouble
have fun!
i like to think of more silly situations in 40k cause of how depressing the setting is
if you know what youre doing i think its easy to befriend an ogryn
give me the funny bit where a dark angel falls down some stairs and the other dudes start laughing
it is probably also very easy to get on an ogryns bad side
indeed
but if you make a good first impression, that ogryn friend will prolly think the world of you for the rest of your association
dont some commissars get trained just to know how to deal with them?
yup!
commissars are the ones that talk ogryns into getting into a chimera, effectively talking to em like children
fun to think of a commissar doing that
i know the end objective there is not fun since they are probably going to die in war
but i rather no think about that
I feel like you may be in the wrong game lmfao
Funnily enough, I don't recall any of the famous commissars interacting with ogryn
oh yeah for sure, i like 40k but i got a bit tired of the vibe overtime
i sort of took a break from it as well
its 100% ok to step away frequently from the grimdarkness
I don't normally share kickstarters but the devs for this have a good history
And this game looks like fun Gorkamorka vibes
I have an idea 👁️
stubberin' time!
The ciaphus cain books are good for a different vibe
For people who play Tau. Are Starscythes with flamers being led by farsight a good idea?
I'm running experimental cadre
I was thinking of keeping it but idk. Rn it's my dedicated overwatch unit because farsight reduces Cp cost by 1 when targeting the unit with a stratagem
I think I have enough anti elite but maybe not enough anti infantry
if you have enough anti infantry then its prolly not worth your time. +1 to W flamers are great, but they're not reliably vhicle slaying
Yes
But not for vehicles
You need to up the fusion numbers
These are rookie numbers
I have fusion :3
Two piranha units with two seekers and meltas, sunforgers being led by Coldstar with 4 fusion weapons and fusion blades enhancement
It's not amazing but I do have devilfish with seekers too. Basically my plan is too BR1, zoom to where my opponents vehicles are and just barrage with melta and seekers. Like, right off the bat
It doesn't sound like a lot of anti vehicle but I play with my friend who plays Deathguard and he only has a few vehicles
this is at 2k right?
Yerrr
any railguns on the list? You've got broadsides too right
Seems a bit light for 2k and i just have 2 fusions as dedicated anti tank at that level
Weapon support to ignore modifiers. Missile system and high yield
My reasoning? There's a stratagem that gives sustained hits 1, lethal hits, hazardous. Key word: hazardous. I wanna put that 4+ FNP against mortala to good use
I think the AP bonus off an enforcer is better
Coldstar grants 12" movement iirc and assault
I need to be quick if I go first, take out big armour asap
Whichever one gives AP
Only one. Fireknives, Starscythes, sunforger
Farsightbis better with meltas
its really kinda just depending on what you'll be shooting. farsight is just giving bonus to wound; which is great if you have vehicles to pop with melta; but if you're gameplan is clearing out all the infantry, he can do work on flamers
just really only want to put him on stuff thats gonna get within 9 inches
For legal reasons this is a Heavy Bolter
honestly since they gave primaris stubbers, i want more primaris stubbers
i want stubber marines
if guard are gonna slap heavy bolters on everything to the point of being more common than stubbers, just give guard heavy bolters and marines heavy stubbers
+1 W is good on the meltas because you already want to be in half range and S9 wounds on 5s against most big tanks so going to 4s is really ideal
It is advised to fire in short bursts
Otherwise recoil may cause friendly fire
I kinda wanna name it the Leviathan as a reference to Drake
you know, the firelink turret or whatever its called, it should have a gatling cannon option
Okay this genuinely fucks
That looks cool as hell
Heresy actually has one army that lets Marines take heavy stubbers, just not en masse
But still one in three for just about every unit
It's a Blackshield list option where they have to trade their bolters and bolt pistols for human weapons like auto and las guns, but get to wield them akimbo. Strength and range traded for sheer volume of fire.
A whole squad rocking dual stub carbines can go HARD
i very much vibe with with a stubber per squad
like a tactical squad actually acknowledging the application of suppressive firepower
The baseline lists also have support squads with rotor cannons for that purpose
Is it? I suppose it would be. If I'm wounding on 3s based wounding on 2s would be even better
I was also thinking of just swapping it to an enforcer for more pts and maybe switching around some stuff
I thought the enforcer was an offensive buff, not a defensive one
Im not touching my infantry section because rn it's pretty okay. 3 devilfish, 2 breachers, 1 strike team. Breachers led by fireblades
Meltas are best into vehicles anyways, they're not great at killing elite infantry
It is a defensive, but it's actually really good considering in going against Deathguard
They'll be lowering my toughness and have ap, and most shit doesn't have invuls
DG have low AP outside of their big melee
Most of thier shooting is low AP with lethal hits
Unless it changed with the codex
Yeah but I'd be saving on like 4s possibly. It'd be nicer to save on 3s
IMO assault is still better for the flamer unit because they're so close range
The defensive buff makes more sense on anything with range
Yeah. I think I need a flamer unit as well anyways
The CP to reroll the dice while determining attacks characteristics is just too good to pass up
And if I make the Coldstar lead the Starscythes I might just run an air burst, 3 flamers, and the supernova launcher enhancement (I'm doing this because I really want to use that weapon profile lol)
But I'll prolly run the better flamer enhancement just because it's better I believe
Probably
I need flamers because my friend has poxwalkers and being able to wipe them with an overwatch would be nice
Is Shadowsun a good character to include?? I was thinking of using them because the aura
enforcer's buff is a reduction on incoming ap
Wonky grip but we fuckin' ball
Yeah I think that's pretty good tbh
Especially against Deathguard. I need that survivability
Time for boolet
Are they any good?
Iirc, it's a +1 to wound aura
TO WAHAPEDIA
thats wher i got the info lol
Honestly. That possible cp bonus would be awesome
That is a nice reroll though actually
Maybe I'll keep her around the infantry units
I plan to destroy as many high value targets and slow down my opponent while I score secondaries
Maybe I don't need her because I do have a flamer Starscythes unit which acts as a deterrent to pushing my squishy infantry. But at the same time. She makes my breachers hit more
But it's also like 100pts I could be using for something else....
So she's not great for aggressive board shoving to own the board
She is great for static shooting positions
You pick shadowsun if you intend to bu8ld a castle and make life hell
For people moving into it
im trying a twin stormsurge list i think tonight
that im using shadowsun for
its prolly gonna lose, but its gonna be funny
Gotta love big brrrt
str 24 dmg 12 gun is just hilarious
and the stormsurge really isnt otherwise very good fro the tau
so why not, right?
Gotta love big brrrt
Double sent weird
I think I gobbled up all the Tau stuff at one of the hobby shops I go to lol
Not all but a solid 60%
So what's going to be your paint scheme?
Purples and pinks
So much free hand
Nah, that's an easy stencil, or you could find one of those nail stampers with a flame pattern.
Im planning on either pure red flames if I go grey, or pure BLACK if I go red
The only flames i'd need to add would be on the chestplate and the pauldrons too
And power fists if there is one
2e BA my beloved.
Hell yeah
I LIKE THIS IDEA
DO IT
PLEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASE
The flames make them faster
RAAAH
"Our storm speeder is broken and we have no weapons. What do we do?!"
"Xiong Xiaoli..."
"..My Lord?"
"XIONG. XIAOLI."
Should I remove the Pathfinders from my list???
Tau btw
They spot twice but honestly, my only use for them rn is to spot for both of my piranha units. Which feels like, not a waste, but a misuse of 90pts
I swapped my coldstar for an enforcer because I want the survivability and I don't necessarily plan to sprint around the map with flamers. They're an objective defender unit so the lower ap is nice
Plus. I can use the pts for a broadside ngl
With rail rifle. Not high yield because I have a two model unit of that
I decided I didn't need it. So I used the extra 100pts for a fireblade and a kroot warshaper to lead my kroot carnivores and now all my infantry have leaders
Are all your big shooters spotted?
I like broadsides with stealth suit spots, everybody else can use pathfinder
i no longer want to use 2 stormsurges, my itch has been scratched, they just didn't do enough damage on their own
Folks, i'm thinking about making an assassin kitbash for my army. The question is do I make an Eversor Assassin, or a Callidus Assassin?
Eversor sounds fun because of Deadly Demise. I could just throw a bunch of grenades on his kitbash
A video about metal bloodletter minis from the 90s
And how I painted mine

I think I’ve figured out a good skintone for my neophytes, now to attempt an entire 2k list of GSC in 6 weeks
Still thinking abt how I wanna do the funny veins
Blue for the veins would compliment the purple and pale tones well.
Welp
This is an Eversor Assassin
Because an infantry with deadly demise is hilarious
I admire your proxy game
Question then
What's your solution to eating a scout charge from an army like world eater?
Die :)
Not going against world eaters but I do worry about Deathguard
90pts to die?
Most of my list is vehicles. And vehicles with fly
I will zoom over top of the enemy
And then die afterwards
But. At least I could fly 😎
90 points to die locking the turn 1 chwrge in the open
My response
Flamer
The heavy...flamer
Overwatch with Starscythes with flamers
And THEN die
Really, if the opponent was able to get into charge and successfully charge. I'm actually fucked. So that's why I'm being as intensely aggressive as possible going for big threats so at least I die knowing I was able to gobble smack Mortarion with 30 billion missiles and 10 more billion missiles
It's all in the name of flavor my child
I don't intend to survive. I intend to bring the opponent with me at the very least
Playing aggressively on early turns is like the worst possible tau strategy
You're a movement tricks army with guns, you want to hide and do secondaries and pick off poorly positioned units
We ball
Aggression is my playstyle. I don't necessarily play to win either. If it's fun YIPPEEEE. :)
with montka you can play pretty aggressively tbh
Kauyon fell out of interest for me because I just ehh. Didn't care about staying still for three rounds
Montka looked interesting
But experimental looks more fun
but aggressive doesn't mean poorly; its not a bad play for montka is really good for board shoving and seizing control of objectives early; the trick is your placement really matters
even more so when you only get montka's benefit in the first 3 rounds, thats when you want to do your biggest hits/take out your most important targets
Yeah that's why I'm thankful to have so many flying dudes. Experimental has ways to say nuhuh to charges and even being shot at iirc
round 4-5 are when you'll be the most depleted and have the fewest come back tools
I don't want to push so aggressive into my opponents face
Because my opponent is Deathguard
The extra 6" range is MMMMM
played experimental last night, its got no anti charge, it does have battlesuit heal and anti high str weapons for battlesuits
18" flamers and 18" meltas 🤤
and it has a "dont target me"
I want a Battlesuit unit that's all air burst weapons or smart missile systems
Off topic but that'd be a sick ass unit
the key to playing extremely aggressively with tau, tbh, is knowing the way your opponent plays intimately, so that you have good understanding of their ranges and you can play just outside of it; Experimental I've found is good for a bit more of a range and trade game
That's my main concern because my friend pushes up the midboard slowly and then deepstrikes my backline
But DG have a new codex coming up...
New toys that I don't understand
not as much need to get as close with your biggest hitters, but less means to go off across the board; instead you want 1, maybe 2 doers that you'll be sinking experimental weaponry or target analyzer (i think its called) onto for major shooting cycles
spot using stealthsuits for your main "do-er" sink a maxed out experimental or target analyzer, blast for the sky from a relatively safe distance
My army rn is pretty good and spread out across its roles I think
Just gotta screen those termies out
im a big fan of potentially running a full plasma fireknife squad and a plasma loaded coldstar or enforcer to just lay into targets with a huge fixed damage potential
I have Fireknives who will stay closer to the back with missile racks and plasma when targetting elite infantry. Cause I now have a 24" plasma weapon and a 36" missile pods
yeah screening is important, ime experimental can crumble if the enemy gets something scary into the backline and you can't answer
happened to me with some einhyr hearthguard just running amok because i didn't QUITE screen well enough
Anti infantry/semi anti elite is ny two broadsides who have a stealth suit following them around for the rerolls
id consider planning around whom your going to be spending cp's on
or intending to use them on anyway
I was thinking of having Shadowsun stick around my three battleline units. Two breachers and a strike team all being led by Fireblades for the added ATK characteristics. All also in their own Devilfish so when they disembark they have a spotting unit for the +1 BS at minimum
Shadow Sun just giving the devilfish weapons +1 to wound is 🤌 also nice
That's why I'm bringing farsight as well. The reduced cp for things like stat buffs or free healing. Farsight leading sunforgers I believe. So they will be a big target
I will be spending some CP on the broadsides for the sustained and lethal hits stratagem. Rerolling hits and wounds of 1 from being guided by the stealthsuits so heck yeah. Starscythes will also see their fair share of CP use because they're my a really good overwatch unit. But they will also be sticking near the infantry to give them support on holding objectivea
if you're bringing farsight you dont have any cp generating tools via ethereals, gonna have to be particular with your uses
Which means they'll be next to shadow Sun so the possible return of CP from that Aura. It's incredibly situational but it'd be nice every now and again to get back a free cp
I'll try this detachment out and if I wanna try Montka I'll do Montka
Montka might work better considering how much firepower. Those lethal hits would be 🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌
try em both tbh, find what suits you
im still trying to get aux cadre to solidify for me
I did just take a look at Retaliation Cadre
THE ARRO’KON PROTOCOL looks funny
Especially with all missile broadsides omfg🤤
I'm not a huge fan of kroot or vespids. Idk why
I just love the robots more
no worries, different flavors appeal to different people
i just really like the combined arms aspect of the tau
They're not robots. Mechs. But still
that includes robots, but i dont want only robots
I played Titanfall 2 to death for a reason
This is why burst cannon Starscythes had me frothing at the mouth
Generally, for robots i find the two crafted detachments for them are Retaliation Cadre and Experimental Weapon Cadre
see i want the hbc riptide to be that
One of these days I wanna say fuck it
Triptide
But alas, apparently that's not a valid strat anymore because apparently it was
So I propose a new fuck it we ball strat
Two'nar Dualpremacy. Two Ta'unar Supremacy models and a dream
triptide is still valid, just not dominant
the ion guns being dmg 4 is solid in a lot of scenarios
My favorite is their anti infantry weapon
Damage 3. Anti infantry 2. 8 attacks. You get three of them🤌
For Ta'unar sorry I'm dumb lol
I wanted to run the burst cannon if I was running Kauyon
Wait till BR3, guide with stealthsuit (equipped with marker drone for marker light keyword). Get that beautiful sustained hits 2, ignore cover, hits on 3, reroll hits and wounds of 1, devastating wounds🤤
This is why I love Tau
You think dark or fluorescent
I'm thinking more icy blue, honestly. Closer to irl veins, thinned down and glazed over.
I treasure this one
Iirc this is a reference to something that allegedly happened in the Falklands
"Gyr you have a tourney in six weeks just get everybody basecoated"
The sickest fuckin infantry backpacks I've seen on GW models:
Neophytes are hard to paint
they're REALLY good
Neophytes are hard to paint efficiently and also I’m running like 70
They’re such cool detailed models, but oh no they’re such cool detailed models
Yeah GSC has the problem of “horde army + very detailed models”
There’s lots of fiddly bits on them which would be nice if you didn’t have to paint so many of the damn things
That’s just Forge World 30k Mechanicum
“Here are these very detailed, 5pt units that can be fielded by the dozens, that will be $Many”
They’re absolutely sick models, but goddamn are they pricy
Are those the Tech Thralls? Or something else
Yeah those guys should have a leadership of N/A
I would happily accept no ability to improve their saves
But still LD N/A should be a thing for them
Hell, it’d be great if they brought back how you used to have to “program” robots in 40k and they’d just do the last thing you ordered until destroyed or off the board
But that’s probably excessively fiddly
(But I do love historical games that make you give written orders, especially ones that can have your opponent/the referee go “hey, that’s actually super unclear, they might have got the wrong idea”)
Lol write a if then program for them being near techpriests let you ignore the program
Or even have loke 3 pre written flowcharts
I think that last one was how robots used to work in 2e
I thought neophytes were bad at 6pts/model oh god
I picked up like 2500pts for $500 and then I just went in tonight to get two more ridgerunners and two more kelermorphs, and its sinking in what an insane deal I got paying MSRP for those
I don’t remember what the actual dollar to point value is for Tech Thralls, but it’s nuts
Since you can field absolutely huge amounts of them at next to no points, but they’re Forge World models lol
And there’s been a new version of 30k since I last looked
It was actually way wilder
Box of 20 for poke 200 something ringgit
I was thinking old nid synapse
Oh my God it's a terrible idea hut I want the return of the programming mini game
To 40k
That’s simultaneously something I understand why they cut but also super cool
And also something that fits with 40k’s more skirmish-y origins
If it was more central it would be a really neat general mechanic
A central base program mechanic
You bypass with HQ units that can be sniped out
They're overpriced so tempt people to just
Not have them ahhaha
Like synapse units
If the entire game
was "robot warfare but you built logic punch card decks"
That would fucking whip
Could be a real cool skirmish scale game with that
So that you don’t have too many models/logic chains to deal with
There is a reason if we ever do a horde-ish army we’re 3d printing it
especially Krieg because dear god would we have to grab a lot of them
At least they’re plastic now, before then you had people trying to hack up the guys you could buy as a solid row to fit in the huge FW troop transport model to save some money
(It didn’t often go great)
Painting the krieg sounds like hell
High detail and horde 😦
Here's a collage of some of the landscapes I've painted on space marine pauldrons since the first collage I posted a while back. These are a great little mini project that I find adds a lot of interest and unique flavour to a miniature project.
Let me know if you'd like to see the process of these being painted!
Aren’t these like 4mm tall? I’m flabbergasted
I KNOW
AUGH
https://www.ddinstagram.com/p/DJB9KIEswa-/ what six years does to an mfer
Every now and again it's nice to look back at where you started and to try to appreciate the improvements you've made over the years.
I got back into this hobby in October 2019 after 20+ years of largely forgetting miniatures even existed. I started with a D&D boardgame, some cheap craft store paints, and no idea what I was doing, but I was ins...
Way back when I remember a made in game maker game where you programmed bots to duke it out

(from Golden demon 2007 Germany, apparently)
i have a question for any of the three other people who play boarding actions
can Logan Grimnar go in a boarding strike detachment?
i have my answer: no
i was confused as to why wahapedia filtered them out of boarding strikes despite being an infantry character, but i figured it out
they're also a terminator, which is specifically disallowed for characters in the muster rules
Rip my vocal cords for those takes

I so badly wanna make a Tau list but holy moly guacamole
Crisis suits are 100CAD???
I need THREE. And I need one more piranha. I also need two more Fireblades. A kroot warshaper. Farsight....another broadside. Another stealth suit...kroot carnivores...two more devilfish
😭😭
yeah there's a reason I treat warhams as a building and painting hobby first and game to play distant second, rather take my time collecting than rush to spend all that money up front
used to get a lot of mileage out of vassal to get best of both worlds, not sure what's popular for that now
Also never buy MSRP
Lots of discount retailers too.
Even just going to other storefronts saves you 15% to 30% new
AIUI, GW's own Amazon page is like 15% off compared to their website
I’ll buy at the LGS for MSRP because they have a kinda ridiculous rewards program set up, and thats it
Guarantee you can get a full set of crisis suits like, 30-40% of MSRP with ebay and patience
Though that still comes out to like 60 CAD
They're still one of the worst value kits for tau
There's also plenty of 3rd-party sculptors who make their own not-Tau STLs (and the occasional just straight-up scan/recreation).
This is also just in general like, one shouldn’t really start this hobby by planning out a 2000 pt list and then buying everything all at once etc
Yeah.
Like, its way too much investment all in one go and really tough to then deal psychologically with like building and painting everything while its looming over you, and without a decent amount of play experience your list might not actually end up being what you want to play etc
It does not help at all that the number of models you need for 2000pts has ballooned for most factions
you know how imperial fists removed some important organ thingy to make space marines faster during the heresy? did they add that back with primaris?
Yeeeees theroetically
i like the idea that if a space marine doesn't get a weekly check-up with a tech-priest to inject their insulin and do dialysis on their blood and change their ceramite nappies, they keel over dead within the month
When primaris came out that was kinda part of the deal everyone was back to nice good gene seed but then stuff started to fail again with a lot of chapters
Which I dont think happened with imperial fists specifically but that might just be cause they havent been mentioned specifically in a while
They did
Yeah I think IF’s are the one where it worked
Since IIRC their loss of the betchers gland and sus-an membrane was driven by Dorn skipping steps to make more space marines
And then I guess they were too stubborn to ever do it again after he died
That would make sense
Nothing gives me more nightmares than all those posts on the subreddits of people going “hiii just got into the game” and showing like a $3k MSRP purchase all in boxes still
Subsidizing miniswap after they burn out
yeah this is what soured me on physical 40k vis a vis other wargames: the time and money commitment before your first game
it was one of the bigger selling points of warmachine/hordes back before that imploded, your starter box was like $40 and got you playing
You can get proxies via etsy printers for much cheaper I think
neat!
Once you're there for a bit you start to recognize the people who buy and sell 2k armies compulsively every 2 weeks
Yeah even the combat patrol format is like 200 bucks once you factor in paint and supplies
I wish combat patrol was as good as spearhead
At least then you could just buy one and mostly just play that and not feel and immediate need to go past it
Spearhead is good
Mini games are so expensive
I remember checking the full cost of games ive got on steam and the full total is just over 1k for a decade old account. My 40K purchases are probably 2/3-3/4 of that im only 3 years
I mean i am very thankful for young teenage penguin mathing out their Tyranids 3E list, realizing exactulyh how much it would cost, and loosing interest immediately
Would it make sense to proxy pathfinders as breachers or strike team?
I ask because I'm at my LGS and I see pathfinders for 55 and firewarriors for 80. 25 dollars saved and I already have a pathfinder team I could proxy for whatever. That would complete my battleline section too and not force me to buy 240 for three battleline units
They all share the same base size.
Proxying lol
But now I have my battleline, my broadside section, and I'm almost finished my transports
I dont think anyone will care all to much
Just need farsight, two more Fireblades, one more piranha, one stealthsuits, and three crisis suits, kroot carnivores + warshaper. 😭
Might not even need all that just yet because I have a riptide to fill pts
conversation happened at the group today and it got me curious
so 500 points games are generally considered a bad idea because the format massively skews listbuilding towards the toughest possible vehicles
in a way that's observable even at 1000 points but exacerbates even harder at that scale
so for each faction, what would be the most obvious, meta-chasing, sweatiest way to achieve this
Ig rus spam, necron ctans, tau battlesuits, csm cultist spam (20 for 100pts)
Is this usd or cad?
Because a strike squad is like $51usd on amazon
Pathfinders are like 38
You just don't get the turret
Big vehicle spam in anything less than 2k is rough but at 500pts some armies can barely field enough units to take objectives or do secondaries at all
Do 500 point Custodes, it'll be fine.
Necrons
Hypercrypt Legion
Incursion (1000 Points)
CHARACTERS
C’tan Shard of the Nightbringer (305 Points)
Hexmark Destroyer (75 Points)
OTHER DATASHEETS
Lokhust Destroyers (35 Points)
Ophydian Destroyers (80 Points)```
One knight warden with sticky objectives
Dark Apostle 75
20 cultists - 100
20 cultists - 100
20 cultists - 100
20 cultists - 100
The Area 51 rushers
knights particularly exemplify how 500 points breaks down
2x20+4x10 is even harder to chase down
True
Excuse me a sec...
Cadian Castellan - 55
Cadian Castellan - 55
10 Cadian Shock Troops - 65
10 Cadian Shock Troops - 65
10 Death Korps of Krieg - 65
10 Death Korps of Kreig - 65
10 Death Korps of Kreig - 65
10 Death Korps of Kreig - 65
A little less raw bulk (62 instead of 81 models) but you get 4 orders/turn and can bring meltas
(You can prolly make up the bulk diff by picking recon element and now everyone has cover)
Getting heavy weapons and regen probably makes up for it
Alternatively, if you want one unkillable blob instead of having orders:
Commissar - 30
Primaris Psyker - 60
20 Death Korps of Krieg - 130
10 Death Korps of Krieg - 65
10 Death Korps of Kreig - 65
10 Death Korps of Kreig - 65
10 Death Korps of Kreig - 65
The commissar list would be even stronger if bshock wasn't a requirement for summary execution, b/c then you can trigger grim demeanor at the top of round 1
100% massed cultists isn’t that good
They don’t do much
CAD
Fire warriors were 80 bucks so I'm just proxying with Pathfinders because my friend is chill with it
Which is funny. Because same base size, similar shape of the models themselves. Same amount of models too. Different guns sure but it can't be THAT much more different. And yet fire warriors are 25 dollars more.
honestly even same guns if you run em with pulse carbines
But I guess they're battleline and because you can take max 6 and not 3, might as well bring that price up to 80 bucks instead ya know?
Oh you know what actually justifies the price
THE PAULDRONS GOSH HOW COULD I FORGET
Def worth 25 fucking dollars more :)
Wait so literally same weapons but a couple of different options?
striek teams can bring pulse carbines or pulse rifles, trading range and rapid fire for 2 shots and assault
Question
What's stopping me from just using the pulse carbines and putting some pauldrons on them and just saying, "This is a strike team." Who would actually notice the difference??
someone who plays/owns a lot of tau would notice, and really the only ppl who'd care are tourny folk or wysiwyg folk
I am guessing the fire warriors are a newere kit? They usually do pricing that way
What I see, and what I get is as follows: A happy bank account
I'd sooner spend 110 dollars to proxy two pathfinders as a strike team or breach team than 160 for what are almost near identical models
The benefit of being xenos is that it is far less likely that people will notice that you are using the wrong weapons for things. And the people who do notice are other xenos players who are doing the sme thing XD
Also I think people care a lot less about WYSIWYG these days?
Know what
You get two crouching models with pathfinders. Crouching models imo are cooler
Also robes. Robes cooler
I guess painting fire warriors is easier because their arms aren't blocking half their body. You could also just...do subassembly
Just model them all with the same guns (i think pathfinders can do that)
Iirc, drones aren't actually necessary because they're just tokens to indicate wargear options now, not actually models
Is the strike team turret a token?
So if you just make it clear, you don't even worry about the drones not working
They're not counted as models
It's just wargear
It helps identify who has what but guess what. Shas'ui models can only equip drone stuff as wargear. If you just show in your list what he has. Bang boom done. I actually thought about getting one of those like plastic signs for planting
One'a'these bad boys. And just sticky tacking it to the back of the shas'ui model. Write down whatever drone he has so it's ez for my opponent to know
Granted. In tournaments, you prolly ask the tournament organizer right? Cause the expectation is painted minis and professionalism I imagine
At least for the moment drones are equipment not models so they’re kind of a weird grey area
I ain't gonna build them at the moment
It feels like it'd just be an inconvenience for common situations so I won't bother in casual games
A drone is a model in front of your unit and your opponent is checking charge range? Tsk tsk tsk, you don't measure to its base you measure to this guy's base. Checking for model visibility? Nope, that drone doesn't actually exist, so even tho it's out of cover the unit is still in cover. It'd just be an inconvenience. Not saying it's a waste of time to build drones, they're still models and you should paint and build your growing pile of grey shame
In a game store you're gonna be fine
In a RTT or equivalent you might not need WYSIWYG but proxying entirely different models might not fly
The main reason to build drones is to have visual clarity for your opponent as to which drones the unit has
I will place drones annoyingly because putting them on the battlefield is already a nuisance
ahahah
okay i'll come clean
the hypothetical 500-point meta-chasing isn't actually theoretical at all
despite my protestations, our group is deciding to do 500-point games next week
is it wrong for me to try and optimise under these circumstances?
What do they expect you to run? Garbage? Lmfao, I mean this as a joke
i mean, i'm playing within the boundaries of the ruleset that's been set out for me
Yeah do it. You only have so many pts to work with
If I was in your shoes, I'd just run a single storm surge and two ethereal for the memes
fire warriors cost more cause they have more sprues
there is 50% more plastic in the box
cause they have 10 of three different types of weapon, mainly
Are they optimizing?
Or is it meme lists
i think the primary impetus is that they feel restricted by the arbitrary rules of the boarding actions ruleset
rules like "you can't just spam fifteen melee elites into this map of tight corridors"
This does also mean you have plenty of spare weapons to put on pathfinder bodies if one is so inclined
Looool i just checked and that wouldn't even be 10 models. It's just 2 4-person units of c. Guard and a shield captain
Big models are fun to paint
https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/2pgti3di/prepare-for-the-next-generals-handbook-with-the-scourge-of-ghyran/ seems interesting, units are getting new ghyran variants that you can choose between
Good way to do "seasonal" content and not inflate the the amount of models armies have or make players buy new ones
Shame knights have barely any model rizz
Ooh conversion Beamer
Go back to the 70s hippie
Bell bottom war machine ass
(I honestly find it really funny how bell bottom feet are kind of realistic for walking machines)
It looks like it'd shuffle around like a toddler.
it clicked for me after my first game against the votann, but their biggest strength is adjusting the frequency of crits, meaning they can trigger things like conversion beams far more easily
It looks like it's wearing someone's skin with that tan color
The big knights are so funky looking
the volcano cannon one just being angry sphere on legs
From far away it looked like the left one had a clown nose
until i actually took a look at it that is.
Which faction?
If t'au and you wanna cause some suffering
Too many kroot
necrons
How many points is 20 warriors?
the meta for "proving this was a bad idea from the start and probably causing an argument about gentleman's agreements or whatever" seems to be nightbringer + miscellaneous objective holders
that, or the ol' reliable orikan + reanimator + 20 warriors tarpit
warriors are 90 points for 10, 200 points for 20
Orrikan reanimator is funnier for suffering IMO
Night bringer is beatable with prethought
Orrikan at this scale can't be beat outside of sheer nonsense like 2 breachers+2 fireblades in Kauyon on turn 3
were knights used in 30k?
I'm going to bring a ghost ark too
Yea
In lore, they were always there but not mentioned, out of lore, they started showing up/being mentioned when GW released the faction
ooh i see
the Tarpit takes up 355 points in total
with the models i have, i can fit 3 skorpekh destroyers and a lokhust heavy destroyer into the remaining 145 points exactly
question; does Their Number Is Legion apply to all activations of Reanimation Protocols from any source, including the second D3 from Reanimators?
Orikan the Diviner (80pts): Staff of Tomorrow, Warlord
Chronomancer (65pts): Chronomancer's stave
20x Necron Warriors (200pts)
3x Canoptek Scarab Swarms (40pts)
3x Canoptek Scarab Swarms (40pts)
Canoptek Reanimator (75pts): 2x Atomiser beam, Reanimator's claws
My nonsense brain is screaming all in the tarpiy
Hahahaha
Nah they existed in Epic long before 40k, so they were there just not as focused on.
They also existed in 40k back in the 90s but it was with the old Armorcast model and more a showpiece than, y'know, a unit to put on the field.
https://prometheusrising.net/2020/12/26/warhammer-40k-armorcast-reaver-and-warhound-titans-legio-ignatum-fire-wasps/ I do like the goofiness of the old models.
Was that forge world(usa)?
I know that model and played against it in 30k. A buddy of mine has some
http://www.modernsynthesist.com/2012/02/tyranid-archive-armorcast-tyranids-and.html They did a bunch of imperial and eldar knights, a handful of orks, and these--some tyranid bio-titans.
It does say dice plural. IIRC it works.
I wonder if CK will get to steal it
True, it is getting moved to a box where CK gets none of the variants
They've got a big flamer coming
Add the Cerastus knight to the codex you GW, you cowards
Having two nearly identical kits for the Questoris chasis is a weird choice though
They can't just let you have the sprues to magnetize a model and you have 7 different versions of it. Then you could actually have fun trying out multiple versions of a knight depending on the game rather than buying 7 different knight
GW would starve! They need to to buy all those knights. Won't you think of the poor stock holders
I bet I could find a plasma cannon and conversion Beemer for questorus on an stl site right now
100%. The important bits that make this new knight different from the old ones are 3 bits
Literally these. Not even the back of those guns
I mean I dont think its a bad thing that theyre not making the knight box yet another half an inch thicker and more expensive
Good news is the canis rex wasn't legended
I still bet he's going to get hit with an angron sized nerf-stick
Canis rex is nuts
Maybe a hot take but the questorus box is already packed full so maybe having the option for another loadout in another box is good
Big fan of slapping mustaches on these boys
The questoris box was our combat patrol
YOOO. SICK
Looks like a firefighter
Haircut, moustache
YOU'RE SO RIGHT
Space hulk-amania
Snap into a slim Jim, heretic!
Ngl
It'd be fun to make astartes models doing like normalish jobs
Yellow and red aggressor with flamer working the McDonald's grill
In honor of Grey Knights not actually getting the hammers they're modeled with, I made a "grey knights" list that does get hammers
Brother, after the crusade I thought I'd have the skills to have whatever job I wanted. I didn't think my thousands of years of purging the heretics would only get me an entry level dishwasher position
Adding more mutations to this beastman, cause the fluxbray is not fluxed enough
Get bored
Does khorne just make a galaxy spanning blood farm or is that too weak? Like, he's empowered by war, but if he conquered the whole fucking galaxy, other than small or the occasional big rebellions, what is their to do?
Like that’s basically what happens with end times
Khorne loves infighting
And they kinda just scrunch it into a ball and move on to the next game
They thought they wanted to conquer the world then realized the real reason was the friends they made along the way?
Khorne I suppose would just have infighting so he's fine. Probably just a tiny bit bored but whatever
I don't think that they goal is explicitly to conquer anything so much as just being hungry amorphous warpy gods
Slaanesh. If you have all the excess of whatever you want in the galaxy, is it really excess if there's no one to tell you it's excessive? Like I feel a reason for excess is because it's taboo. It can't be taboo if there's no one trynna make rules
They don't want to rule they just want to have everyone doing their thing to empower them
I think there's sort of a absolute measurement reference for excess that slannesh definitely hits
Not really relying on a cultural definition
Civil wars
I suppose it has the best reference to go off of
Its own birth is probably the best reference to go off of considering the sheer amount of excess and emotion and pleasure and everything, considering it, ya know...birthed a fucking chaos God
Tzeentch would just be kinda funny if they ruled the galaxy
Because they'd probably say they don't actually rule the galaxy and then tell others they could rule the galaxy because there's an open seat. Then just sit back and watch everyone stab eachother in the backs
The chaos gods I think don’t really have much of a consistent interest in the galaxy
Yeah but it's kind of a hypothetical
We can infer some stuff from the destiny in 30k
What if, they did
Which is total unyielding universal oblivion in a perfect moment of absolute destruction
What do the chaos gods even want? Is it just worship and das bout it?
They wanna fuck over the other 3
That's funny
Does that at all feed into tzeentch??
They wanna fuck each other over, but the god of fucking people over is the guy you wanna fuck over
Don't they all somewhat feed off each other in some way?
Well actually, some of them feed off each other in some way but some just straight up don't. Like Nurgle and Tzeentch
Slaanesh and Khorne on the other hand. Khorne doesn't care how much blood flows so long as it flows. At what point does the relishing in the spilling of blood and hate and rage become excessive
I thought it was genuinely said that if zeech won the great game he'd do a reset to loose and start again
You know what? That makes sense for him. It's kinda all a game to him I suppose so why not just reset
Tzeentch is the mega-planner doing schemes within schemes within schemes but it doesn't seem like there's any end result he's aiming for. Bird man is doing it for the love of the game, not for any real end goal.
On that end, is it weird I wanna see mixes of daemons? Like a Keeper of Secrets mixed with a Bloodthirster
Chances are. It's literally impossible
He did but the other gods broke his staff and created magic
But just like, model wise. A kitbash of a keeper of secrets and a Bloodthirster would be kinda awesome
I feel like "what would the chaos gods do if they ruled" would be "look at the warp, that's a place where they rule"
Bloodthirster with feathered wings would be sick
Get em blood stained
Oh wait it changed
Also blood thirster in a traditionally tzeentch color scheme, adorned with multiple accessories and such, would be a cool twist on the keeper
Oh a great unclean one as a keeper of secrets
The horned rat
It was the hrud the whole time would be a great joke
I have kicking around in my head the idea of a Noise marine warband who worship Tzeentch-Slaneesh, Perfection in change
And so have a Keeper of Change & Lord of Secrets as patron demons
It's a battle of the retcons in this rat race of a universe! Heheh. See, the Hrud used to be rat people, which is why that's funny. hehehehe. Sometimes I amuse even myself.
BUT ENOUGH OF THAT! See their conflict unfold in this latesta and greatest entry in the Warhammer 40k meme dub cinematic universe. Space Skaven vs Shadow Monster Men.
Imper...
I just realized we do have a tzeech influenced bloodthirster
Skarbrand
if he's our like... barrier to entry, i feel like every entity ever is a tzeentch influenced entity
you never know when you're involved in tzeentch's schemes
And thats how he gets you
Could becoming a conspiracy loon be a form of tzeench worship?
Yeah definitely
There's a weird 40k science fantasy book that's mostly written from the viewpoint of Tzeench cultists on a fringe eye of terror world.
Pawns of Chaos is a Warhammer 40,000 Novel by Brian Craig. It concerns the efforts of a primitive rebel group on an Imperium controlled medieval world, isolated by a warp-storm, to summon a Daemon of Chaos to overthrow the "Imperium" on their world. It was first published in 2001 and is currently out of print.
Buddy, guess what. A look is already a bird so
And birds with conspiracy theories are already tzeech daemons
loons also have an appropriately haunting cry
The Wail is one of the four calls used by the Common Loon (Gavia Immer). See my article at http://www.thousandislandslife.com/BackIssues/Archive/tabid/393/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/1612/Songs-in-the-Night.aspx
I gotta check this out
Ideas ideas
Its getting real Monster Hunter up in here
I have made a Gunlance
Sword and Shield, Gunlance, Longsword, Power Claw (literally)
Good conversions i'd say :)
The trading continues
GSC progress so far. We’re in it now lads
finally, penny loafer primaris Lieutenant
First scourge of ghyran update dropped
New sheets for screaming bell and brood terror, 2 battle formations, 3 heroic traits
All bonus options for the next year of matched play
Skaven got more in this drop than they got in their battletome lol
and apparently they're fairly solid options
Double screaming bell + clanrats or rat ogre bricks is gonna hit like a fucking freight train
“Here is my tide of abysmal dogshit. You get -1 to hit -1 to wound and I’ll receive: 5+ ward, +1 to wound, up to +3 to charge and they’re all move 8”
everything healing everything restoring lost models
Skaven’s pretty close to being in a great spot but its all been coming from the damn points erratas and making the silly 100 and under heroes proper bonus heroes, rather than the tome
They were comically overcosted at codex release, like ratling guns could probably stand to be 190 and every other sheet could stand to be 10-20 cheaper
ratling guns are 170 WTF!?
I had to spend an entire turn off Morathi just to kill a reinforced unit of the fuckers
(Skaven player bopped them into my backline so I brought around a block of spear snakes to deal with them. They were saving a CP for the covering fire, however, so I had to move Morathi an inch closer than the spears just to soak it. If I didn't have to do that I could have gotten another turn out of her)
Working on creating a narrative battle for some friends in a pseudo-crusade of sorts I am organizing for them. The idea was have 2 of the players team up with 1k lists each against some traitor guardsmen that they outnumber in points starting off. At the start of round 2 however, the leader of the traitors pray to the gods requesting helping with the prayers being answered in the form of a pair of greater brass scorpions and some venomcrawlers coming out of deepstrike (or strategic reserves) to lend the traitors aid. Would this be too much for a pair of 1k lists to handle? If I was to change it up to give the traitors more initial forces, should I trade out the venomcrawlers for more cultists (totally not cannon fodder) and traitor heavy weapon squads? What do you think?
skaven finally learning to lend a hand to those in need
Congrats, they specifically said you are to be made into a servitor
Me when Monster Hunter
I wanna run two Fireknives and one sunforger unit
But I need Starscythes for flamers😭
And it is good to have versatility I suppose...but...but missiles😔
Pissed at myself
My first ever game with Tau was against knights on table top sim
315 POINTS. I COULD HAVE RUN THEM IN THE LIST. I COULDA OBLITERATED THOSE KNIGHTS
Ong, all I would need for a 2k game is x1 Ta'unar Supremacy Armour, x2 AX Tiger sharks, and if I have the pts a storm surge and some stealth suits and infantry for spotting
If you got some fine jewelry chain, that might look good to make it look like the tyranid head was fashioned to the shield that way.
I agree with this
Idk much about monster hunter and it's aesthetic. But if you're mixing it with 40k. Might I recommend like a bandolier with Tyranid teeth or claws
If the chain doesn't look right/doesn't suit your aesthetics, some fake bolts in the carapace can also work. I personally use sewing pins (aka dressmaker pins) with a flat top for that.
What would be kinda cool is a knife sheathed on the back of the shield like a back up weapon
Bone knife or something
This would be sick too. Makes more sense then chained because that's something that could be caught and grabbed by a claw
Brutal as hell, having a tyranid head chained to your shield tho
I think it really depends on the chapter. BT would absolutely chain that shit, same with Ultras. IF and IH would probably use bolts.
BT FOR SURE
I'd love a BT monster hunter detachment wait wtf
Like imagine a group of elite BT monster hunters- wait that's fucking awesome. Hold up wait wait wait wait
I need this now
I need to kitbash this for no reason other than it sounds cool
I've been thinking of how to include some tyranid stuff in my retro Blood Angels army.
Friend of mine is redoing their tyranids and we both agreed to have matching bases cuz honestly we'd probably just be playing against each other most of the time, so we're both gonna paint up some downed marines/dead 'nids to add to our bases.
so who's the pre-emininent nid specialist, the Ultras or the Blood Angels these days?
The Deathwatch, but like Ultra's are the tyrannic war veteran squads.
Also that reminds me that I have a pile of Tyrannic War Veteran transfer sheets.
i know both chapters faced annihilation by the nids, and the BA were only saved by the intervention of Khorne
but BA never got tyrannic war vets, ultimatly
Yeah they're kinda the "specialists" more feels like Ultra's adapted and made some battle changes to deal with Tyranids, and BA just said yeah we'll fight them too.
Ultras have tigurius
Ultras were the first to deliver a defeat to the 'nids and have a lot of vets as a result. But also they're the "logistics" chapter thanks to Robby G, so they take a lot of their studying of the enemy and combat data very seriously.
Me. I am
(sorry ping
Theres my lad!
I love that man!!!
continuing my theory crafting on how to optimally ruin a game night to prove a point:
what sounds more agonizing to face in a 500 points cap match: shard of the nightbringer, or 20 warriors + reanimator + orikan tarpit
Probably nightbringer since the warriors are slow
Orikan and Nightbringer serve the same purpose, dunking elites - but nightbringer does it every round on the table
There is simply not enough shooting power in 500pts to kill a ctan, and you scare Angron/Lion/supertanks
I'm not expecting to see many other superheavies
the group (minus me and my persistent protestations) decided that the restrictions of boarding actions and combat patrols were too stifling, and yearned for total freedom of listbuilding
Boarding actions is great!! Augh
I am in agreement combat patrol is. Quite bad actually. They need to go into it all at once like Spearhead
i place more personal value in a balanced ruleset to play under, and intend to demonstrate that maybe there's a reason those lists are restricted at such small points values
Ctan Shard and primarchs is like, quite literally the reason why
300pt units that are purpose built to trade up / become gods strongest distraction carnifex getting rapid ingressed onto you or marched up the center
Literally last week nightbringer soloed two bloodthirsters and nearly killed a great unclean one that came in after
I saw ctan shard
Is it viable to still do three ctan shards?
I remember that being a meme that was actually pretty good. Or I'm going crazy and imagine things :3
It was teleporting around the map in the opponents deployment zone and making it near impossible to leave iirc
Hypercrypt is still great, but I think ctan shards have basically been relegated to noobstomping bin besides a nightbringer for elite trading or a transcendant in canoptek court / starshatter for a hypermobile scoring unit
Taking more than 1 is investing too hard into a particular kind of statcheck when you can be bringing vehicles or skorps or troops
Consider having nightbringer and void dragon vs a guard player
I wish the experimental cadre had more like wacky goofy stuff
The sustained or lethal and weapon buffs are nice but like
A stratagem to give like blast or torrent to a weapon profile or something
Broken? Yes. But lethal or sustained and weapon buffs doesn't feel experimental. I want ork level of bullshittery
sadly prototype weapon systems in Ret is already lethal/sustained
hahaha
Like fusion blades that are just…better fusion blasters rather than the unique item that captured ppls imagination
Or stratagems for specific units
I know :((((
you can't do that kind of thing with only 6 strats
haahah
Unless it's a detachment with a very narrow foxus
focus
You could do specific weapon profiles maybe
Choose models with X weapon profile
Something. I just want more experimental. It doesn't feel experimental
I wanna do homebrew detachments with my friends ngl
That'd be fun and broken
hello is this also an age of sigmar chat
Yep
I'm cackling
at the dwarvern charge counter of rolling more than 3 on a d6 retreat with a boat
ahahhaha
anyone here got the new soulblight gravelords tome? i just need to know what size the cursed sepulchres are but i don't have the tome myself
Extra cursed, but only medium spooky. (I have no idea, sorry)
gonna try out unending swarm tomorrow
Unending Swarm got ripped off by that global change to spawn stratagems and can only use them once
Unending Swarm >ends
oh shoot was unaware of that, thats a bit lame, but im still gonna give em a go
just feel the itch to have a massive zerg army
hmm, is there anywhere i can find that in general rules?
It’s in the errata/balance dataslate
It’s still good the first time I think but Nids isn’t who was abusing respawn strats
I think 2 cp to get a 20 man squad back is still pretty good at least
honestly, invasion fleet and hungybugs detachment both can support gant swarms pretty good, given what it turns tervigons into
Beautiful shitpost
ya know

they would probably hate each other but this is cute
they shmoovin
I'd but that for a dollar
T-1000 ass
I want to take a bite out of that thing
But I feel like I'd be picking paint gunk out of my gums which isn't ideal
Otherwise
What I have here is a chunk of indium, and I think it's pretty cool. It's extremely soft and non-toxic, so I should be able to bite through it.
#shorts
Hmm
I have a broadside with a rail rifle
I'm stuck between plasma and seeker or missiles and weapon system
Actually that's a no brainer just realized. They're not going against infantry, missiles ain't necessary
Split fire also is just bad with Tau
I had a dumb idea for a Tau
x3, three model Broadside units with missile system and weapon system and missile drones.
x3 all missile Fireknives
Shadowsun
x3 stealth suits
Whatever else you can fit in
Mmmissiles🤤
I need to learn how to do Table Top Sim 40k so I can do stupid shit
Bring skyrays!
The stormsurge is also like 60% missile haha
Idk how well that fits
I wish it wasn't expensive lol. 400pts. It's decent but eh. It's anti titan/towering mostly
But for more pts and anti infantry bullshit...
Ta'unar Supremacy Armour
The amount of attacks is fucking insanity
Mmm. Three pulse ordnace drivers with 8 attacks, 4+BS, 5str, -1ap, 3dmg and anti infantry 2+
I need a Tau crisis suit unit that is loaded with airburst weapons. I need that so bad
Calm down there 9e Codex T'au
😛
What book is that in?
Emperors children I'd reckon
Wasn't airburst spam a contributer to big indirect nerfs way back when?
Tau seem to be involvd in a lot of like rule nerfs over time
