But I wouldn’t say drukhari are really in a similar boat to daemons
Yeah not at all
Plus the eldar codex already came out
Votann seem to be between salamanders and fists im the coming soon, drukhari are the only faction so far unaccounted for
Someones always gonna be last unfortunately
Really? Interesting.
From an outsiders perspective it feels like Eldar need More TM... But a lot of that More is just "actually show them getting some wins - tragically doomed doesn't mean always getting murked".
Drukhari just seem like they need to lean more into haemoculus and biomancy shenanigans to help really cement an identity, and actually do something with Vect: Dark Muse, instead of him presumably still tposing while announcing he's a Dark Muse
(Also it's just always gonna be hard to get players behind Faction: We are sick sadists. Maybe if you can dial up the vampire and winter fae vibes)
DE just need a range refresh for their HQ
Archon is fine, haemonculi need a line refresh like kroot and vect needs a set piece model
It probably wouldn’t hurt to add more kits or update some stuff but what they really need is like Vect and Lady Malys and the court of the archon to not be OOP
Agree wrt Haemonculi they haven’t aged as well as the rest of the 5e models
Kheradruakh, also known as the Decapitator, is the long-lost monarch of the Mandrakes whose name literally translates to He Who Hunts Heads. A dark legend and patron saint of murder even in the eyes of other Mandrakes,[4a] he rules the shadow-realm of Aelindrach that now spills over into Commoragh.[5]
I want to see this guy too
Four armed named mandrake
I have t heard the drukhari called winter fae before
Oh man I forgot about him
I miss the 5e era of just making up a few fucked up model-less named characters every codex
A lone op character would be fun, especially since he definitely wants a ‘cannot be over watched’ effect and stealth that would make him even more of a pain
I do like the DE think mandrakes are Too Spooky. mandrakes think their king is Way Too Spooky
(and his deeply fucked up skull ritual he actually succeeded at)
A mercenary focused detachment for drukhari would be neat
Scourges, incubi, mandrakes and maybe corsairs
That would be neat yeah
Which are the more stable loyalist geneseeds?
not in great shape before primaris
Albeit less because of stability and more intentional removal
Makes a lot of sense considering how many chapters there are with their geneseed
intentional removal?
They stopped adding the sus-an membrane and betcher's gland shortly before the siege of terra to make more imperial fists faster and then never added them back
Oooooh
Dang
Interesting tho
Thanks for all the info Cyan
Imma go bed now

Gn!
Overrated organs I say
they are definitely less important ones yeah
The sus-an is a useful one in somewhat niche contexts, but I’d say the “spit acid” and “eat brains” ones are the ones I’d say to cut
Honestly the memory consumption is really useful
I guess I’ve never recalled it being used that often
I think the writers kinda... don't use it as often as they should
I think it’s also one where it’s limitations/function aren’t super consistent
Like is it “I have a vague impression of some stuff” or is it “I NOW HAVE THE ENEMY LAUNCH CODES, BROTHERS”
Yeah that's also true
I think the biggest thing I remember it doing was letting some space marines learn how to drive Tau vehicles real fast
Clearly (almost) all space marines should get the "gain a CP on killing a character" ability like Lictors have
I did it folks, skarbrand pulled his weight and holy SHIT do the bloodthirsters just kill shit
I dont think I used many of the stratagems except literally the "fight before you die" one from the khorne rules so I might change my detatchment.
4+ invulns are great and 11 toughness is so satisfying
We both were learning so we forgot some rules but
Keeping bloodletters in Deepstrike seems to be the method
Skullcannons can survive a good deal and also vehicles can shoot while in melee so they are good at just ramming shit and tank shocking units and then being a sticky bastard unit
Dogs did decent. The fact that they can undeploy at the end of the opponents turn is nuts
Thirsters at first felt kinda lame, but then i swung a weapon and also READ MY RULES
8d6 4+mortal wounds after fight phase.
WHEW thats a lot of dead marines
Jesus
I think that the blood legion detachment stratagems and base rules are extremely lacking aside from 1 point to get a 50/50 on a last strike on death, or more useful 1 point to charge through terrain as if it wasnt there.
Like Sheathed in brass is so bad
1 to get a 3+ save against a shooting attack
But like
My saves are almost always 3+ when it would matter and 4++ if its anything thats worth shooting
I'd go the opposite way with the eat brains one
And you know how we see some chapters with overdeveloped 1 specific organ(black dragons skeleton one, souldrinkers the eating one, et al) ? It would be cool for one to the acid one
I pitch one of those and it's loyalist word bearers
The Ruin Speakers
This guy never spat acid in someone's face and it shows.....................
It's a little hard when wearing your regulation helmet
‘Not wearing a helmet is dumb’ ‘space wolves are stupid’ fuck you. Spits acid
iirc its to ensure that the space marine retains a projectile weapon even when all their limbs are gone
and can also be used to melt bonds or restraints
Also works in conjunction with several other implants to let space marines eat weird things like wood
See? Just never get delimbed or captured
Normally, not wearing your helmet doesn't matter. It was really rude when Thousand Sons defied genre conventions and magically guided bullets to headshot spacewolves during the burning of Prospero
pretty much, though also space wolves apparently cultivate reflexes to dodge bullets and in many cases can just eat shots to the face
when its not a bolter round or something
Ah, eating shots to the face is clearly what that acid generating gland is for
Yesss
"BECAUSE IT'S GONNA FUCKING RULE MAL WHY DO YOU NEED TO GET UP MY ASS ABOUT THIS"
Hello I have a meme
The slaanesh bathroom does not have anything for actually evacuating waste, it's just for making yourself look perfect
The nurgle bathroom makes you vomit the moment you enter
Trick question. Neither of these are restrooms
One's for orgies and the other one is for medical waste
One could also be full of bees
That's the Tzeentch door (but only on Tuesdays)
Slaanesh toilet vs Nurgle toilet
If the black dragons get special weapons due to mutation, the acid spitters should too
Nah, both toilets would crave your bodily waste in nurgle vs slaanesh
Just for different reasons
“Oh no, why are all our glorious leaders being killed?”
“I dunno sarge, maybe they all caught shrapnel to the dome from all the artillery flying around, just a thought.”
“…Brother, I respectfully request your silence.”
Oh, iirc they aren't targeting leaders in particular in this case: Space Wolves often don't wear helmets so they can better take advantage of their enhanced senses
So I guess the author of that story decided to get cute and TSons taking advantage of that lol
(barely related, but I kind of like how in one of the DoW cinematics, a Eldar ranger gets a headshot on a space marine and it just pings off the helmet)
i think its a fine enough thing to do, Space wolves are often making that choice because it lends them an advantage. But its always a compromise. Their true nemesis exploiting that is a good metanarrative element
It's mostly funny in juxtaposition with how the setting pointedly ignores it for named characters' helmet choice
iirc one of the old excuses was that characters had some sort of small force field around their heads but I think that might've been fanon.
Clearly the chaos gods are very interested in the melodrama between important people and directly intervene if they would die too easily. This is why so many characters have invulnerable saves
Oh I was making a more general joke about why not wearing helmets is a bad idea lol
i guess iron halos fit into that category? not that everyone's got one
i'm pretty sure htat's what they do
For some, yeah.
Obviously the best answer is "they ARE wearing their helmet(s) but I have the same cosmetic setting as some video games where you can see their face anyway"
Translucent helmets
If someone came up with how to do retro-scifi bubble helmets on models without being a PITA that would be cool
Uuuuuh probably just finding hollow plastic spheres and cutting a hole in the bottom?
I was thinking more on the user side than manufacturing
Because they'd have to be glued on post-painting
Ah, well, if both are plastic that shouldn't be too difficult. Plastic glue means no fumes.
I'm guess I'm worried about having glue visible on top of the paint job through a transparent part
Tamiya ultra thin doesn't really leave much of a residue once dry.
But yeah it's one of those things I puzzle over. Cylindrical clear stuff is easier compared to spheres.
i wonder who made these, anyone knows?
Well, if it's a clear bubble you probably want to glue it on after some painting so the head or whatever underneath can be painted.
I think a problem with bubble helmets is that plastic often doesn't look quite right on a model.
I wonder if you can do a cute locking system with modern GW plastic techniques
https://www.reddit.com/r/Warhammer40k/comments/peu0z0/the_collection_of_imperial_pugs_remixed_by_me/ seems like it was a guy on reddit
thank you!

What do folks think of this list
I call it the colour tide
the helmet just needs a peg. on the customer side drill a hole and glue a clear peg to the helmet. then glue the bottom of the peg to the bottom the hole
just has to be deep enough that its in shadow so the glue is unseen
Yeah sounds like it would work
I cannot figure this out at all lol
finally, we've come full circle back to Color A Dinosaur (NES, 1993)
I only wish the color thingie on the left popped up immediately and not make you feel like an idiot for 30 seconds.
this is embarassingly enjoyable
"My spine is a corn on the cob."
Corncron
Oh is that what I was doing wrong lmao
I've recently been looking at Tau and I'm loving it
Broadsides are awesome. Hammerheads are brutal. Sunforgers are just mean
They have great tools for sure
Tau have a bit of a glass cannon problem, but their guns do not usually disappoint
Every space marine chapter is basically how British people see other kinds of white people. Blood Angels are Greeks, Space Wolves are Scandinavians, Ultramarines are Americans, Imperial Fists are Germans, Black Templars are also American, Dark Angels are French, etc.
That feels pretty off the mark imo
Space marine chapters are caricatures, but not all national ones
Another problem with this is a lot of British people dont consider greeks white /hj
It doesn't make sense because blood angels are italian
Ultramarines are pretty roman as well
Also Black Templars have “Teutonic Knight” as there whole thing
It doesn't make sense because they're all italian
There are pre-french arthur stuff but thats not really the type of arthurian da necessarily has going on
Holy moly Tau is funny
Experimental Cadre is bruuutal
Starscythes with enforcer equipped with thermoneutronic projector. 10 18" flamers, with the enforcer giving one of his flamers +2 str +1 ap and +1 dmg
It's beautiful. I want a unit like this in my army. It's some incredibly effective anti infantry with over watches. Especially because Starscythes give their weapons +1 ap against non monsters and vehicles
Experimental Cadre is very straightforwardly solid
The extra range helps a lot of stuff, strats do too
My sister is getting me to play a game of 40k so she can use experimental cadre
I probably won't run it personally. Because I wanna run patient hunter
And just throw a bunch of missiles with sustained hits 2 at my friends
Tau look like so much fun tho ngl
kauyon is my current go-to
it's good fun
It looks effective
It is as long as you can deny scoring for the first two turns
By battleround three and the right gear, your opponent could probably be kinda slowed down or weakened. Then dropping in and dealing the killing blow to secure their deployment zone obj and score secondaries while they're still trynna push into the midzone
Kroot are good at that with scout, pathfinders are good for that, piranhas are good for denial
I was actually thinking of adding vespids. I saw a list using them and apparently they're great for secondaries like scoring things in your opponents zone, long battlefield edge, edge to edge, etc
Cause you can at the end of your opponents turn, put em in strategic reserves
Vespids are very good scoring tech
I can grab the list I used last if you want
It's also 5 for 65. If you want a pts filler
Is it bad I'm not planning on running farsight? I think some ethereals would be nice for extra cp. Like for the photon grenades strat and extra survivability on the mid board. It is by chance sure, but seems worth
Sure

Devilfish (85pts): Accelerator burst cannon, Armoured hull, 2x Seeker missile, 2 Smart missile systems, 2x Smart missile system
Gameplan is to use piranha, kroot, and pathfinders to deny primary along with pushing the ghostkeel aggressively. Broadsides go in strategic reserve to walk on from a board edge turn 2-3, vespids for secondaries.
Hammerheads are good, yeah
Competitive lists swap the crisis and broadsides and a breacherfish out for a hammerhead and another riptide usually iirc. Also another piranha and a lone krootox rider for scouting up and contesting the center
Yeah but how'd the 40k game go :v
I don't know why they changed the name (it used to be servitors iirc). But I feel it is very good for the first player and if anyone gets ahead they can easily run away with it
I managed to win entirely by scoring 40 points on secondaries with no primary points. The other guy went fixed all fronts/behind enemy lines and it kinda bit him once I killed off his fast units.
It was still a fun game but the primary basically didn't exist
If you rush no man's land and have a ton of cheap objective units you can sacrifirce in turns 1-3 then you can score huge points. It's super dependent on the terrain layout for how easy it is to push the objectives around.
Ours was one of the more open GW tourney maps
what's the mission's layout/objectives?
that catually looks fun, what made it so bad?
oh read above I see
what army were you running?
pariah nexus crusade has a fun mission where you can move the objectives, there's two with a diagonal requirement, made it essentially payload rate, a lto of fun
really depends on which arthurian. but yeah, they seem more french arthurian.
Wait,is Cypher Modred or Lancelot?
So word of warning
As a tau player
We are not a shooting army
Our decent shooting is a trick
A scan
Scam a bamboozle
Explain?
Shooting is like the least good ability for winning the game but thats okay. Unless youre more dakka ig
We're a movement bullshit army that uses shooting to make space
Rrrright
Followed by Orks with the new detachment :v
Right, the Dakkatachment
Sometimes a nonsense charge wins you a fight
Tau shooting is generally somewhat average, or a bit better than average, barring like one or two pieces. But we have shenanigans and if we can apply those pieces right, you do work. At least in my experience
Is more trying to say we are better off focusing on our good ability to get places
do orks find energy weapons to be not as fun btw?
i ask cause i imagine they dont make "dakka dakka" when they shoot
They like energy weapons well enough, they're just usually unstable and super powerful when it comes to orks
Zzap canon used to be, well still bad, but might occasionally hit hella hard
And their mega blastas are always hazardous because they don't care about a safe mode
Womp womp
I use shooty anyways
I don't necessarily play to win. I just play to play
My objective is to roll more dice than my opponent, and hang out with my friends. I've never actually played against anyone I didn't know. I do plan on having a gameplan tho. I was thinking of taking a few vespids to abuse their teleport ability and secure secondaries around the map
Tau scores well, kroot/vespids/suits in deep strike
They’re not a slow army by any means
After playing as demons , I totally get why people are asking for them to get nerfed
Those bloodthirsters do bloodthirst
That said, I hope it's just point increases and nothing numerically affecting
I didn't need three skull cannons
I don't know if I mentioned it here, but I definitely think the way that corn demons play the blood legion specific detachment is nowhere near as useful as the undivided generic one
I once thought that Imperium subjects talk about space marine chapters like they're baseball teams. But the only comparison I can think of is the Ultramarines are basically the NY Yankees of Astartes chapters.
I'm petty sure tau in 10th are one of the fastest armies
Belakor detach is straight up the better khorne detach, that’s been echoed by basically every chaos player at my LGS
Back in the kill team mines
Idk why it says no one went first round 3. I did
I do wish the matchup felt a bit better tbh
Pathfinders are not doing great and hard to pilot
We’re gonna try the volkus narrative missions next I think
Like I said
Movement army disguised as a shooting army
Oooh
Today i m also killteaming it up
Havent decided which team to use yet
Maybe run back with the clowns now that I am understanding melee with more than 1 operative lol
Aeldari vs tank heavy marines
Skellyfriends this weekend!
I'd have thought aeldari would be good at a mobile objective like that while a more elite army would struggle
Aeldari are bad on primaries because they can't survive out in the open
Objectives on most layouts have some cover but if you're moving the objective you can just kick it out in the wide open spaces
Theyre just amazing at secondaries because fast
Sanity check
What actually gives every marine I’ve ever seen the fall back shoot
I haven’t played into any marines in like 2 years that give a shit about movement rules
I’m so bored of it lmao
Tactical Doctrine I think?
Gladius Detachment effectively has it on demand
Army wide fall back and shoot for a round but with Adaptive Strategy it's basically on demand
Notably it's not on every Detachment, but I think Gladius is the most played and one of the most adaptable
I cannot state enough I have not seen any other detachments since it dropped
gladius is very common yeah
it's also just always a solid pick. It has support for melee, ranged, movement shenanigans (reactive move strat, fall back shoot charge, advance charge, advance shoot,)
Ironstorm is one of the big ones
Currently
And anvil is really strong on casuals and with favorable non competitive terrain
ironstorm is good too yeah
Never seen it lmaoooo
vanguard was a top pick for ultramarines until they changed ventris' deepstrike ability to not affect Centurions (uppy downy dev centurions were the main tech)
Necrons feels real uphill with avg shooting, no fight first, no real speed, no charge buffs
They work best with their big "do things" pieces. The rest are supposed to just kinda eat it imo
Ctan and the silent king are brick shithouses that beat almost anything they fight
The canoptek wraiths are dummy thick for their cost
Its also a quarter of your army to run one of those with 0 kill power
Outside of canoptek court or blowing a strat every round on their melee
Versus like a vindicator and a half on marines which kills whatever you point at
¯_(ツ)_/¯ I honestly may be done with 10e this point if necrons means a 1k point list tax to play well
Terrain is back on the menu boys.
absolutely don't need more plastic but I'm struggling, those are good looking boys
There's always room for skeletons.
what is happening here
ELDAR SWEEP
Who are these sickos winning everything with Realspace Raiders and Chaos Cult?
looks like such a low play count that a couple guys just had a very good day
I've seen Chaos Cult there for a while
Also kinda funny how seriously broken More Dakka is
Funnily enough more dakka didn’t win adepticon
But yeah it’s kinda insane
The 10 sick bastards with enough windriders to run 40+ of them are dedicated to their lunacy
I respect it.
yeah i love bikespam
Reminds me of an 18 piranha list I put together in 8e
I love the detachment but I hate painting bikes
The subassemblies for the riders are rough
Can’t find the lists but it had rowboat gillyman in it for sure
I’m in the warhammer tts server and the competitive chat is screeching about how codex marines are overtuned bc of it, it’s very entertaining
Yeah it's like score one for 40k being decently balanced
Space marines are a bottom 5 army atm statistically
Yeah
One army with one player did well. The top 4 were ynnead, marines, demons, and gsc iirc
Which is a decent spread overall. Eldar player would have won if he didn’t time out
Those really are beautiful
this has the cadence and rhythm of a speech i'm being given by my archrival mech pilot before we have our final emotionally-charged duel
I think we might see some adjustments to ultramarines characters (again, bc GW can’t seem to get primarchs quite right), but I’m not expecting an overall change to codex marines
Yeah I doubt it
They’re not a consistently dominant army
I could see Guilliman get a price increase
Possibly yeah
Or just a rework
ahh, handsome lads
did they get rid of the "bone tail" thing nightmares had back when?
So I gotta actually retract my salt lmfao
Guy turned out to be out and out cheating counting like two detachments and screwing up most of his stratagems, blood angels don’t get +1 to wound on Oath + can’t fall back shoot charge vehicles in Angelic Host, can’t charge out of 6” deep strike and that costs a strat too
Ah. Yeah that’ll do it
Both mixing up two detachments together and also giving +1 oath to blood angels and charging from 6” deepstrike
Good lord
Oh man
Oooof
I’m gonna be real until every unique chapter is either fully rolled into one codex or fully siloed and they stop all this souping stuff I’m still not a fan of Any Power Armor Period but
Thats a far cry from flat out cheating lmao
Def shoulda asked on the deep strikes given I am playing Hypercrypt
The trouble is right after they nerfed the shit out of deep strike strats, the new crusade is all about a special 3” deep strike that can charge out of it—I had assumed it was crusade upgrades and not a strat he also wasn’t paying CP for
I mean angels/swolves used to be silo’d and it just led to weird shit
Like blood angels tacticals just being better
It beats the hell out of whatever this current shit is if you ask me
Though I guess the detachment stuff is new and weird
GW paralyzed to make changes because it now hits like 70% of the playerbase, and continuing to hand out a bajillion marines detachments
Compared to previous editions
Like it used to be just one blood angels
Or I guess ba and flesh tearers idk
And now they have a dozen options
It would probably be good to have marines struggle for some keywords again
I’ve not run into any that have problems fielding world class antitank or fights first or stickies or weapon keywords
You play xenos, hell half the time playing chaos, at least one of those is going into the gutter
Vindicators make hammerheads and DDAs look like jokes
Marines are a bottom 5 army overall, they don’t need any more struggling
Vindicator is outstandingly good though yeah
Tbh I just keep the other players detachment up on waha on my phone when I play them because people constantly forget thier own rules
I think either that’s true or guilliman vindicator ballistus spam didn’t just clap adepticon like you said earlier
Necrons was bad until that one guy slammed LVO and they’re still copping nerfs a year and a half later
Checking global WR for the fundamental introductory first army is always gonna be incorrect, its 60% of the playerbase
One army barely won because of time =/= army needs nerfing
Ballistus and vindi spam + guilliman and calgar is a specific list archetype for a specific subfaction.
Does that mean marines are busted? No. It’s a specific list with specific key parts played by a top 1% player.
Sure, same with necrons—the nerfs they needed were limited to high skill specific player lists, still happened and have kinda guttered the army given nothing’s gotten buffed in exchange
New players aren’t going to tournaments all that often
It is about sheer volume of players, not just brand new - a lotta people are gonna pick their one army and stick with it, so when one army is ever the introduction, it’s inflating numbers
A second army is $$$$$
There’s a lot of weaker lists which win with real good piloting
Like that Colin guy in the UK who’s like personally responsible for 20% of CSM tech
Or the streamer I forget the name of who’s like inspired with Drukhari
Skari? That’s a name I’ve heard thrown around
That sounds likely
Rings the bell for me some
There was also that like cabal of GSC players who fooled the playerbase into thinking that army was strong for like a 3rd of 9E
Drukhari and GSC come to mind as very small playerbases that place quite highly yeah
Just cause it’s low playerbase and well done yeah
Which is the opposite of space marines tbf
Yeah
I don’t think marines are good enough to warrant massive nerfs. Guilliman maybe, calgar maybe. Vindicators probably should get hit too.
But codex marines don’t have the presence in tournament placings that you’d expect if they were dragged down by a bad playerbase and were actually overtuned. I had a look at the adepticon rankings. Only ultramarine list in the top 10 is the winning list, there are three chaos daemons and three orks lists in the top 10 alone.
Yeah the standings look more like a well designed and well piloted list overcoming the meta than tournament SM being quietly cracked
I think there was some dreadmob
I can’t see not logged into bestcoastpairings but I’d imagine at least some were.
Dakka is going to get hit with a rebalance I imagine
Probably will go down to sustained 1
Dakka is definitely the most clearly fucked army atm
Ynnari and daemons are also cracked though
I mean, I think I have complained enough for one day but god I hope an entire melee faction doesn’t suddenly shoot like my tesla immortals
In terms of like number of attacks orks are balanced around 5+ hit rolls too
Yeah orks can be a volume of fire shooting list but
So its effectively doubling the output of the entire army
That’s extra good with sustained hits since you’re rolling so many attacks base
stathammer on em has 100pt loota units picking up entire marine squads in cover
zero further investment
Got myself to sit down and do more work on Ser Xiao Long today.
Some of the cleanest yellow I’ve seen recently, good shit
Thanks. I base in Zandri Dust and just build up by brush from there.
Used to play Fists as my 3rd marine army lol.
ultramarines calgar stuff needs a nerf, marines really dont i dont think. Ironstorm might as well, or vindicators possible
Also as a note, I think Oath of moment DOES give +1 so long as your entire army shares a faction, which means a full blood angels army, they get +1 to wound from it still
Other have mentioned, but shooting as orks has been a thing for forever. They're only a "melee faction" because of their current detachment/rules options; but I really see no reason to pidgeon hole them like that
any "melee" or "shooting" faction can do the other thing
or should be able to
More dakka should have been rapid fire instead of sustained IMO. Sustained giving extra auto-hits doesn't feel as orky as just more attempted shots.
or probably just not sus hits 2. It's sus hits 2 right?
Yup
They changed it to only be codex marine detachments and models. Nothing with Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves, Deathwatch, or Black Templars chapter keywords can benefit
Can anyone give me some perspective on why folks are upset at the thousand sons chaos androids? I thought they looked pretty cool, even if I'm not the biggest fan of the side mounted gun
But folks seem rather steamed about it
I can only guess, I haven't seen the sentiment or seen it expanded upon
My knee jerk thought though is that it's 40k fans being 40k fans
Never seen the sentiment
Ah, it turned up in a couple of places on Reddit etc. Always hard to tell what's memimg or not
Thanks folks! Appreciated
(and yes, they do!)
I think some people were hoping for something bigger like the HH version
Some people also don't like the look of them but that might be in part a matter of how GW painted them
And a few complaints about how that style of gun-arm is very stiff to pose
The gun arm is like the one thing I dislike, I'd have given them more stormfiend Esque gun arms myself
a lot of stuff looks better not in the gw scheme
like the EC stuff looked so much better with like a couple % more saturated colours on them compared to box art, this might be a similar thing (but also tzeentch-corrupted castellax-achea would have been sick af)
i think part of the reasonable issue is that aside from death guard the cult legions have pretty small ranges and the stuff they got hasnt really helped a huge amount
though at least thousand sons didnt get character number 3000
Yeah like I think if the slaughterbound was one of multiple things WE got then people would love him, it's a great model
But as is WE and GK players are like "this is it?"
Played against triple dorns
With 30 pinks and 30 blues
Could not kill me fast enough
Just remembered as daemons you even have a 4++ in there too, not just the horror chain
YES
it's what made me annoyingly impossible to punch through
Took 2 dorns worth of shooting to fully remove 10 blue horrots
I killed his scoring and then just
Danced on objectives
horrors have such good dances too
PURGATUS PARABELLUM
Ngl
I'm glad I'm building Tau
This seems like an army thats actually fun
This is coming from someone who played space marines. So playing an army that isn't Imperium is nice
Total war 3 talk
They gave kislev so many fun cool toys
Like the garrison assault, And new race mechanic
But the start of this fucking campaign is cbt
I can't fucking mentally handle how many threats I have to contend with at the start of the campaign.
Azag Drycha Throt Nugle dude Azaziel FUCKING ARBALD! arbald will show up at like turn 15~20!
Jesus christ I know I'm supposed to be living the kieslev life of hard fought war for people and country but CAN YOU JUST LET ME BREATH ON ONE FRONT FOR A SECOND?!
Its just TOO many spinning plates in addition to being locked out of most devotion stuff until like Turn30 because there is no way to hit 50 devotion anytime when you need it
Shooty rail gun tank go boom. Guide it
I just tried out the Kislev rework as well. Had good luck taking the plus 2 orthodoxy favor event and then getting the +5 recruit rank for kossars. You're able to support two armies fairly early and have one holding off drycha while Katarina kill Azhag then circle down south with both armies to get rid of drycha
My only fear is if I do that I lose kris kringle over in erengrad to the rats and the devil
And losing him means its harder to get that good good bonus to the race

I'll give the campaign a 3rd restart
The race mechanic with supporters is gone though isn't it? Replaced with the favors and balancing the two now
Yeah but now you get a bonus for favor for fighting what orthodoxy does
So keeping him alive is worth it now
I mean it sounds like you just have too many fronts going on, might need to just let him die. Or just use recruit defeated legendary lords lol
I havent yet played total war but this sounds about same as my buddy playing Chaos Dwarves
“Every day I wake up and There Are Ogres”
Depends on taste and tactical preference, but i enjoy em. You generally feel pretty active on the board, barring the fight phase usually
A friend asked me a curious question about an hour ago: would Only War be a good system to run a valkyria chronicles campaign with?
I think you could like
do something similar
I think Chariots of Steel for Flying Circus is probably the best option out there though.
I thought there might be a better system but she thought it could at least be a good starting point.
I think generally you need to do a lot of work to make the 40k-specific RPGs work for not-40k? Like you can strip it down to the core mechanics but then there isn't a whole lot there?
I think only war could be good for like
doing gaunt's ghosts but instead of sharpe's rifles it's valkyria chronicles
Ultimately if you’re gonna strip it down a lot you can use Basic Role Play pretty well as a base
I want to have another go at TW3 with Kislev now the rework is out, I never did finish the campaign
On the RPG, I really want to play a warham rpg with folks who have a good understanding of the setting, every time i've played it, most of the group isn't that familair
It was fun when the wargame let you do that via narrative campaigns and an experience system for units. Though that was mostly 3rd edition.
There are Crusade rules in the current edition for that
Fair. I honestly haven't given the rules a look since midway through 7th, which is when I just finally bowed out under the quite frankly relentless pace of releases.
Yeah that’s fair enough
All the crusade rules are on wahapedia, I believe they’re currently working to get the latest crusade book up
That’s certainly a paint scheme of all time
It's wonderful honestly
It’s very old ‘nids. It’s so loud it’s somehow charming
I love the juxtaposition with the far more grounded (har) base
old nids remind me of the really jank 3d demons they used for the spawn movies
Very scrungy.
, hey i didnt know golden demon let 3d prints in
granted the painter is also the sculpter but still thats cool!
no doubt a case by case thing
I think the rules are you have to design the parts yourself
it's allowed as long as everything you print is your own stuff yeah
Arbaal has been the babe of me trying to finish a norsca legendary run. Norsca as a faction has been so power crept by their neighbors that by the time you deal with Kislev, rival norscans and Malakai, Arbaal will have unbreakable doomstacks charging down your throat
Might try a new run of just rushing him down
I am very impressed at the assembly: https://youtu.be/drWDrn4YQL0?si=H1ILamZFe6_8aK8D

In this video Jay take...
Chaos dwarves def dont have the easiest time with grimgore on their doorstep.
But they do get some bombass units early on.
Nah nah nah, i just think they should just give Kislev (city) more starting control TBH just so katarina can swing by and grab that army buff before throwing her at your first front just to have a little bit easier start to your problems
I am turn 30 and only Just got to use the devotion stuff. Granted thankfully its ready for vlad who's on his way to kill my underbelly
Magnetizing and basing half my clanrats in one day, thing that will surely not cause hobby burnout
Decent results, considering, but also dang 3 hours
From Soosmain on tumblr
Wait, Primarchs have demons for souls?
Its part of why the daemon primarchs happened, they’re all like 80% warpjuice by volume
Their creation to some degree involved bargains with the Warp
I don't think they're 80% warp juice, but they definitely have warp juice of some amount
Well, that seems like it was a silly plan
Also maybe don't let certain parts of the inquisition or grey knights know >.>
Eyuck "glad" to see the furry hate people still have in 40k revealed when people talk about space wolves
Furry hate is out zaun barber hate is in
The arguement "more vikings less dog ears".
Uh huh tell me what you think of vikings then partner whats their coolest features?
(I kid of course, I love space wolf xcom haircuts)
Also bummed out
Did they keep it for the refresh though?
Rumor mill killing off thunderwolf calvery to the Legends profile
Like
Ugggg
I cant play cyberwolves, frensian wolves are wet paper towels on legs
Yes they still have appropriately foolish haircuts
I think the only real casualty is that one 3e blood claws supremely fucked up shit
Contrary to popular belief there are wolves on fenris they just must be barbers
-# Going to start being aggressively queer at the 40k scene over this now btw.
I dont really trust any rumor mills at this point, seems like people are saying a lot of stuff for shock value
The Space Wolves state that Fenrisian Wolves did not exist until the arrival of Human colonizers. Confusingly, they also state that they are in fact no wolves of Fenris. Thus what exactly Fenrisian Wolves are remains unclear.
What
See the real secret truth is that a fenrisian wolf is actually an overgrown space raccoon
Return to monkey wolf
-# it would explain the 6+ saves
Riding the decedents of failed gene-seed implantations would be pretty rude
Also, huh. Gene seed refers to both the organ itself and the collection of organs that get put into a space marine?
It’s kinda convoluted how it works exactly I think I’ve basically headcanoned it by mistake
But yeah the rest of the implants can be cultured from progenoids
And gene-seed refers to either the progenoids specifically or all the organs generally
This is why there are no wolves on fenris, they’re all just extremely mutated and misidentified raccoons
Wolves proper probably did go extinct tens of thousands of years ago
but also the implication is that all the 'wolves' are just very very fucked up modified humans from the past who modified themselves to survive fenris better
or something
You gotta assert your dominance
Look they can't un-squat a faction every year for April fools
Oh, life size
Ok that's pretty funny
Meta analysis of last week is out- dakka orks, ynnari still dominant. Tau are at a 35% competitive winrate, codex marines are sitting at 49%.
Interesting to see how things fluctuate based on player numbers and how various factions have put out decent showings
Trying to remember if Tau ate notable nerfs
Nope! Just continuing to struggle in the current meta (too slow to dance around eldar or more dakka, too fragile to tank damage, not as shooty as guard or dakka, no melee)
Depends on the lists, tau probably have the advantage based on what I know
Mmm, and unlike Votann or SM, IDK if there's really room to kick up their army rule
Also a lil disheartening to see Sisters still unplayed after walking back the army rule nerf
They need a fullon rework almost
Tbh
Having to jump through hoops to get to the same ballistic skill as a basic marine sucks (esp with splitfire penalty- the ignores cover is really nice tho)
Also a lot of our mid-strength weapons being S7-8 hurts (a riptide’s big gun overcharging is the same strength as a plasma pistol overcharging)
The wolves on fenris are genemodded to the extreme humans. The people of fenris have a little bit of the genemodding and that's why the helix sometimes makes new fenrisian wolves
Might be it’s too early (and/or they’re still very mono-list and thus feel boring to play?)
As I imagine it
That’s where my mind goes yea
Adhumans! The lot of em. And if GW were not cowards. There with be fenrisian beastmen
That’s just wulfen
sickass flamer either way
yep
To like counterpart ironclad dread kinda
Could also be a new like. Defiler
a man can dream
Feels like player skill issue or just slamming into lists 😦
I dunno
I've found I struggle a lot against thr current field
Read some comments, a lot of the other nerfs they got weren't reverted so there's stil a sore spot
can you run dreadnoughts as hellbrutes in your chaos armies?
i imagine they dont have the same kinds of weapons....so you would probably need a lil bit of kitbashing if the answer is yes?
Yeah there's a venn diagram of weapons and also no not at all if you're EC (RIP Sonic Dread)

making dreads =/= helbrutes would be fucking great
Its an easy greenstuff at least if you really wanna use a dread
Good news it looks like they don't have a stormsurge!(?)
Who needs a stormsturge when you have enough rail rifles
Hopefully you remembered you can kool-aid man the big knight
Bottom round 1
Picked up a stealth suit squad, pathfinders, put 6 on the riptide
I didnt realise Im forced to discard storm hostile so no points for me :(
Opp got teleport homers
Made our side covers too big oops
Fixed it which will probably kill my helverin but oh well
The mega breacher strike is happening
To the gallant
Forgot breachers aren’t d2 this edition haha
19 wounds on the gallant for 7 remaining (started with +4 wounds)
Taking a break after my round 2 movement phase cause we’re sooo tireeed
yeah breachers be all about volume rather than damage per shot def
still very respectable
almost dropping a knight
It was uh
are they gonna get a second shot?
Missileside, 2x devilfish (w/ seekers) nova bursttide, fireblade breacher squad, pathfinders and stealth suits I think
Some of them probably
Gallant probably gonna take out riptide unless he gets got by overwatch, warglaive is going for the broadside
I think if it had been a ion tide though itd be dead
you forgot about the AI assisted Kroot
Yeah the lethal hits kroot
the reason it was the kroot not the Breachers, even thought the breachers have more shots with a Fireblade, the Kroot got their Strat for free from a war shaper
whats the cooler custodes pick for herohammer. Auric champs or lions?
lions
Could a space marine function without war? Or depends on the geneseed?
I think mostly depends on how they're raised TBH
Broadly? No I dont think so. They're so radically changed and programmed and indoctrinated to exist only for war and to bring death.
Specifically? Maybe, but I dont think so. The Ultramrines and Robby G did make it part of his chapter's training to prepare to be statesmen and logisticians alongside warriors, which would be an argument in favor of the idea that they can; because he foresaw an eventual end to the Great Crusade. Against that though, is that it never did end.
Ultramarines are your best bet the others are freaks
Before Robusto back the only real distinction ultramarines ever had was being Reasonablemarines who could keep a planet stable and safe
I could see a few chapters making it out of the eternal struggle
I thought the real distinction was they were "THE CODEX ASTARTES DOES NOT APPROVE OF THIS ACTION"
But spacewolves and Space sharks? No way
Robby G was one of the few primarchs capable of imagining a world after the war. He wanted his marines to be ready to be leaders of men rather than just angels of death. His dream died long ago though.
I imagine none of the chaos marines could survive without war
Since well
The strings that bind and the history
Iron Hands & word bearers are too freaky, Imperial Fists/Iron Warriors are too fashy, Salamanders and BTs are crusaders, etc
I… guess… White Scars? But their entire thing is just doing mongol warlord thing 24/7 which does mean raiding and pillaging for shits and giggles
I meant more in teh 30k 'still loyal' sense
Space wolves could to be honest; they need to accrue deeds for their sagas not specifically fight in war. But they're one of the few space marine chapters/legions that have their marines engage in recreational activities for their own enjoyment
CURRENT chaos marines, hell no
but space wolves wouldn't i think
but they actually have some verve and joy for existence that many marines don't care for
If the war in the galaxy ended then several chapters of space marines would ship off for the great dark between the stars in search of the tyranids
No end to it
Chat i dont like this still
Heh
The flail is real tho
oh we're getting a baby carrier flail? I dont hate that
i just wish it wasnt a baby carrier
Yeah
One of those update where side by side you can see its actually an update but otherwise its kinda samey
kind of a shame, in some ways, that rather than a new third war for armageddon, we kinda went back to the 1st war redux
It’s an upgrade kit aiui not a full upgrade
No its a new kit
Is it??
I think on stream they even said upgrade sprue
Also remember with details the paint job might be different
Tanuki Marines. Lukas isn't a Loki reference, he's just T A N U K I
Night lords are just employed in scare rooms & on the local equivalent of Halloween. This won't cause any issues!
very late but i genuinely think you'd end up with AM from i have no mouth and i must scream. Creatures robbed of all sensation enterally trapped in an unfeeling, twisted carcass honed to a single end that would be denied to them and would ultimately drive them mad no matter what the founding
but i also believe the astartes project would have been swept away like the thunder warriors before them
Naught but gnashing beasts, cloaked in silks
Salamanders are pretty compassionate to the average human and mingle with the populace so I could see them turning to more peacetime activities.
Hell they're downright diplomatic.
space wolves are up there with grey knights for "parts of 40k that give me the creeps"
for exactly this reason
Yeah
ill be honest, i dont know how they're any worse than the laundry list of other options
like valid, dislike what you dislike, we all have things we especially dislike, but like... I guess in my head I compare sw to like... black templars or flesh tearers or dark angels, and I don't see anything more creepy
I want to see the white scar and space wolf buddy cop book
spacewolves should be sacking france more
surprised there isnt a spacewolf thing for Flyting
Its really funny how mad the wolf stuff makes some people even when they’re fans. Incapable of acknowledging that they picked the funny wolf marines and thats what theyve literally always been
These sold me back in the day
that and murderfang
and the big shield and axe dread
Shield and axe dread fuckkkks
Murderfang is hilarious, I remember when he was released
i believe he was refered to as a "dreadnaught shaped creature"
It wouldve been really cool if they could have done new dreads for ba and sw
I guess even da could have had a more mortis like dread rather than the missile launcher, too
I wish Grey Knights focused on the fucking
fact they're all psykers more
It’s the super mad wulfan face sticking out that does it, it’s just so dumb
instead of having weird ass robot baby bjorns
Nods nods
like wtf
I wish they went in the direction the initial lore led me to think about them
I feel like they don't want to intrude on the TS identity of 'oops all psykers' but like
having a loyalist counterpart to that would be sick af
Weird secretive psychic knights of overwhelming warp power
I mean theyve had distinct identities while both being the all psykers faction before
I want more bullshit like Castellan Crowe believe it or not
Even though I think his particular flavor of bullshit strays into what else I dislike about the knights
which is just
authors constantly wanking them off
Just remembered the new mission pack is attempting to balance 1000 pt games better I hope that works out
Honestly I love how the Wolf Wolves led by a captain named Herald Deathwolf rides a Thunderwolf and has his wolfguard, and probably utilizes his Wolf scouts. Sometimes he might use a Stormwolf to deliver his forces. He has a Wolf Priest to administer to his forces spiritually and medically. Sometimes he has a Lone Wolf from a depleted pack in his great company. He answers to the Great Wolf.
Some space wolf fans are blind if they don't see how silly they get
Thunderwolves are kind of the epitome of maximum silly/cool of space wolves
On the topic of grey knights, I really don't mind them being super strong, I think it's weird that they a full playable army despite being a small unit force that handles incredible odds. Like they have strike cruisers dedicated to one squad level of elite.
I also don't mind them not actually going crazy with being psykers; I always characterized them as directing the lions share of their abilities inwards, powering their Aegis, powering their force weapons, girding their mind against intrusion, proofing their body against corruption, and enhancing their hands, weapons, or eyes to better fight.
I think them being like... a smite spam army was a mistake back in earlier editions
A lot of the hatred is back to warddex babyrage
I won’t lie I’m still not a fan of them to this day
I confess I end up a little chuffed that the original Extra Special Deluxe Marines have just the stupidest walker I’ve ever seen in my life. Price to pay for being the Grey Knights with an entire army of psykers and terminator armor that nobody knows about, somehow.
100% the initial grey knight psychic identity was force weapons and hammerhand
That is to say they had psychic powers which made them melee monsters
They were custodes before the custodes
Just also with whole army deep strike as kind of an imperium twin to daemons
GKs had Hammerhand on pretty much every squad and it let them strike at like
Was it S6? I think it was +2S in melee if it went off
TBH normal marines also have some goofy-ass vehicles
hmmm
been messing around with 1k
hehhe
Changecaster (70pts): Arcane Fireball, Herald combat weapon, Warlord, Inescapable Eye
10x Blue Horrors (125pts)
10x Blue Horrors (125pts)
10x Pink Horrors (140pts)
10x Pink Horrors (140pts)
10x Pink Horrors (140pts)
3x Flamers (65pts)
Burning Chariot (115pts): Fires of Tzeentch, Flamer mouths, Screamer bites
3x Screamers (80pts)
my question is
is this too much?
should I drop a unit of pinks or something?
I think so yeah it made them S6 monstrous creatures iirc
It's just one of those things where my mental conception of grey knights isn't them shooting a lot of lighting or hurling fire, it's a warrior with a Halberd that slices through demons like butter and who's armor has sorcery roll off of unmarred
With purifiers, there's a little of that hurling fire, but that's a deviation rather than the norm
Yeah my mental image is very much that. Just incredibly incredibly psychically souped-up doomguys
Also a picture from the 5e Core rulebook (or maybe it was the starter set rules book) with a bunch of grey knights fighting daemons on a spacestation (and some witty caption about unhelmeted heroes)
Huh, okay. Retinue I assume?
Yeah
They join priests (or anything else that can join sister units, but they’re a dedicated priest unit, really.)
Dont have the voidsmen/agents rule of not counting as a retinue once joined though
The WE killteam has infiltrate which makes one of them basically an auto take probably
I’m in the 40k tts discord and there’s a pro teams player who mains WE and she’s already ordered one of em
Bc having even one infiltrator is just so good (same reason most votann lists have yaegirs)
AIUI it's in part just b/c you get to block both Scouts units and protect your own Scouts from enemy infiltrators
Which honestly is probably not the ideal interaction of these two tags
Its a little strange to me how many stubbers are spread into primaris
Like the imperium is starting to run short of materials for bolt shells and has to cut back
someone in poppenang is going through the old alfa legion game and I can't get over this screenshot
it's just so fucking funny
Classic Inquisitorial justice system
Also making a 40k game in RPG Maker is very funny
Let's gooooo
Hoenstly, if more inquistors operated on "You are just an awful person. Like seriously, teh worst' the imperium would probably get a lot better, a lot fast
...probably
(Depends on the inqustiors in question)
This is fundamentally how the inquisition operates already haha
No due process no judicial review just vibes and firearms
Okay, that's fair.
It'd be funnier if they're just applying year 2025 morality though. "Man you just suck. I'd say stop with the slavery, but" bolter. Repeat!
I'm sure there are some doing that but the problem is a dozen other Inquisitors with "I ❤️ NECESSARY EVIL" shirts will then try and shoot them in the head
Look, the M2 Just Works
(Especially now that it’s been modified to fix the headspacing issues)
Modifying the headspacing was actually determined to be techno-iconoclastic in M37 after plans for the originals were uncovered in the vaults of mars
Ryza and Gryphonne IV rejected this doctrine and it’s currently being fought through the courts and dark alleys of forge worlds
Look, Techno-Saint JMB would have done it if he’d thought of it
He didn’t though - are you saying JMB was stupid‽
(I love Mechanicus politics)
Yeah it’s very funny
I sometimes get the sense this is how inquisitors start before they go on that long winding path
A tech adept has definitely been shanked in an alley over a disagreement of stubber headspacing
“Hey, new guy. Do you measure caliber from the lands or the grooves?
“Uh, the lands I guess?”
“Die techno-heretic scum!”
The lesser known mechanicus civil war over imperial or metric
Honestly I’m surprised that isn’t canon already
Oh yeah, that is true
I think that was more meant to show a degradation from 30k to 40k, but there has to have been a point where they argued over which to use
Lemme know when there's 1" bases instead of 25mm
The cog is just willing to kill each other and imperials at the drop of a hat
I did wish they played up the “the mechanicus was a separate empire that was unable to be subjugated by force and was integrated” thing more
Like, most people don’t realize that the imperium is technically an Austria-Hungary situation
(And that they have a similar symbol for that reason)
yeah, I approve for that, and because they really show the foundational hypocrasy at the heart of the IoM
"SUFFER NOT THE HERETIC; this whole religion that blatantly doesn't respect the Imperial Church or Creed don't count as heretics, we decided"
"this is because in some abstract way their concept of perfect knowledge is the same thing as the dude who is our spiritual and temporal absolute authority and not because if we decided otherwise we'd be out everything more complicated than an EZbake oven"
Could tech-saint kalishnakov beat tech-saint JMB in a fight bare manipulatilators?
unless there's some mormon martial art I'm unaware of I think the big Russian wins
Def the more optimistic ones
I have ideas for there hsoudl be a mechanium novel with a tech heretic (or on the edge of it, akin to Cawl) Magos Biologos who's herseys are basically "Actually, i like to ensure my workers are fed well, and have reelaxtion time etc, because this maintins the sacred human machine in optimum conditon"
Add the waffle house and you're all set for LI.
Every time I see Legions I think "man that's cool I just wish it wasn't HH."
I get why they don't want to make full minis ranges for like 15 factions for a nieche game though.
I mean yeah, same, but still.
NetEA exists and there are plenty of 3d printables for the other factions.
Trying to decide what kind of list I wanna make tonight
Emperor's Children list with the demon detachment.

5 Years after the original "Every Faction Explained" video came out, we reembark into the grimdark world of Warhamme...
Bricky decided to do a revision
I learned recently that jocat has gotten into 40K
Yeah, IIRC with Guard
Don't need to remember details if you can get them killed fast enough
We finished that game
It was pretty fun tbf
Remnants at end of game
So a lot of tau died but they boxed me in so quick
And couldnt advance because they were threatening a melta crisis bomb in my castle
Would take a callidus assassin for objectives next time probly. Or go fixed
You could spread out a lot more whilst still screening me
As there's a like, 20 inch gap you can have between units because of the size of the coldstar squad whilst still stopping me dropping in
Yeah
Idk if its enough to leave buildings is the thing
But thats oky
Thronegheist fury on the crusader’s avenger gatling was sooooo good
And unlike overwatch you can use it more than one phase a turn
Helverin also very good into suits, it took return fire down to 1 and then ended the game at full health by retreating before scoring points in the endgame and killing the crisis blob
Playin into the thomas guan GT skaven list today

Try to actually fight in the center near the mawpot, flank with a stonehorn to obliterate vizzik/grey seer/deathmaster. if those go quickly clanrats really can’t do much.
The ships
They do have cool ships this is true.
big disconnect in modern times is thinking of vikings as a culture rather than a profession
...now I want to make my SW army renegades who raid Grey knight monasteries
The Lidis Wolves
As far as I know Scandanavia hasn't done anything but raid Ireland for over 1200 years.
(I gain all my knowledge from tabletop RPGs)
Sometimes they raid other countries
I do like Nice this time of year
Horus: You know, I never even thought of that
"Dad isn't what you'd call a talker."
Or work as mercenaries
"He will tell you about lemons though"
Game ended 36-20, was able to charge his buffed brick of rats and clean house then pile into vizzik. Stonehorn took a flank on its own, ironblaster mostly whiffed but pressured units well enough he didn’t ever get aggro with the deathmaster. Got a lucky covering fire off and killed a grey seer on the turn he tried to skitterleap for Take Their Land.
Clanrat spam list actually a little bit hard to pilot looks like, especially into armies who can just pick up rats drop of a hat

I wanna say gun because I'm running Kauyon, so having sustained hits 1 (or 2 if guided) on all guns is good
The gun drone shooting is pretty bad but I'm also not a tau player so idk
Marker drone does make it easier to use them as an observer unit tho. And because it's a commander, unless you have precision, I don't lose marker light key word even when the squad he's leading dies
That feels very him yeah
The Everyman surrounded by horror
I think marker light. It gives the unit more versatility
Because they can advance and shoot, but also can advance and be an observer. The unit is a mop up crew, meant to drop in late game and devastate elite infantry trying to take objectives. So marker light being able to give a unit they observed sustained hits 2 and ignore cover is kinda dope (on top of the +1 Ballistic Skill)
Fuck I love Tau...
Essentially anything but the gun drone is the way to go because markerlights are dummy good and more survivability on your crisis suits is fantastic
Dope
If I could use like a missile drone that'd be nice
I just don't think that my coldstar dying right away is much to be concerned about, so the extra wound just isn't a solid choice over some extra boolets
Cause you can choose 2 drones. But weirdly, the box only comes with 1 but the clear plastic piece for two
for commanders you probably want two shield drones as wargear at the moment
because you mostly put them with crisis suits who use 3x gun drone 2x shield drone 1x marker drone (the marker instead of third shield is so they give up less points for Bring it Down secondary)
I don't hate gun drones, every shot it a chance at a wound.
But on commanders I usually do 2 shield drones
As a note, don't worry about what you can build out of the box, the drones are ultimately war gear
And I haven't met anyone that expects you to wysiwyg your drones on the field
But yeah, extra bullets are a fine choice imo
my seraphon lost their first game and i started crying until my friend sat me down and explained that your models don’t actually die and you can use them in a brand new game like the first one never happened. i had to dig them out of a makeshift grave in the parking lot
genestealer cult players screaming and crying at having to paint 90 models after every game
They have really long turns because they have to paint new models for cult ambush
Decided to do a throwback list
Oh I didn't bring a rhino
Tried to do a callback to dawn of War 1
How can it be DoW if you don't have METAL BAWXES
Can't bring 4 heavy bolters or 4 missile launchers on the legionaries
Got another one
These armies kind of work to be honest
Building with only dawn of War options
you could add 30 to 50 more kroot hounds in there
I guess it's not an elite meta now
I think it's kinda neat how virtually every archetype is in this top placers section
They're a pretty good vanilla KT who can also pocket pick the single hardest melee killer in the game when needed aiui
Good at scoring and firepower and the Broodlord gives them really unprecedented pocket picks compared with some similar teams
Damn, neat
It's easy to forget how dangerous a brood lord is in the context of the setting compared to 40k. Not that they're weak, but they seem so much more threatening at the small scale
I figure there aren't many entities in the setting who'd have an easy time toe to toe with a broodlord
WYSIWYG??? 😭 Huh
Oh what you see is what you get?
Damn I'm dumb ASF. That took me a second to figure it out😭😭😭
Yeah sorry, was not with my phone, but you got it
If they do expect that
just place them in the most obnoxious position possible
😛
there's so much frustration and confusion you can cause with obnoxiously placed tokens
if your opponent insists on it
I may be a bit of a brat meeting unreasonableness with Unreasonableness
Lol warranted
I usually don't bring marker drones on my crisis tbh, it's usually shield+gun and 2 shields on the commander, though occasionally 2 gun.
I'm also an enforcer lover, I've had that guy weather storms he never should have survived thanks to that special rule
taking all shields on the crisis makes them give up an extra point for Bring it Down
or, 2 points I think
which has helped me in the past
Enforcer is good in ret cadre with the starflare enhancement where you don't need as much movement anyways
I mean, it's not like Emps listens to people
I once did a small like 500 points game - this was back in 3rd editon or 4th editon>? I think third?
I was nids, my oppent was tau, hey had like 3 battlesuits, i had a broodlord and some genestealers.
Broodlord got into melee range of the suits
(least i think that's how it went. It may have been necrons? I am def mixing things up in my head it has been twenty+ years)
I'm pretty sure i did some kind of ":Well, the broodlord got into melee range, so there goes that game for the oppents" shenangins at osme point
it be like that sometimes
a good round for a genestealer squad and broodlord even now can collapse a flank
Is this the boltgun marine?
Can’t be the same guy, not enough boiling rage visible on his face
you know, i know i shouldnt feel sorry for guilliman since he's responsible for a lot of bad things
But at the same time a lot of his fate was chosen for him
so well its a bit sad, he's still bad for sure tho
I think thats fine, its a grimdark universe, theres a lot of tragedy in it
Pretty much everybody’s been fucked from the start ever since the Necrons forged a deal with the star gods, thats the fun part!
i still have no idea how their mega ultra super cancer even worked that not a bit of their super science could solve for it
though i thought i heard that it was being made unsolvable by the deceiver, not sure if thats a fan theory
Implication is it was literally ctan the whole time, Nightbringer was eating the star
ohhh the nightbringer
That or the Burning One?? I’m still unclear on it, but it’d be good animus as to why Szarekh personally tore him to shreds and shoved him in the popemobile for eternity
But yeah they were getting screwed by ctan the whole time
also wasnt the decievers name pre deception something like "the coolest guy we've ever met" or something
Watching x men apocalypse and I think the climax influenced the psychic aliens from astartes
Would love to but my fellow heretics are men. Good thing chaos doesn't discriminate

"It'll replace your hormones with something you can't deny that."
“Replace your dysphoria with a whole new, much stranger kind of dysphoria with Chaos Spawn!”
Also, I just remembered how all chaos character models used to have the chart you rolled on after they killed another character, with chaos spawn being the double 1 result and Demon Prince being the double 6
That was very dumb, mostly didn’t come up, but was occasionally very funny
Eye of Chaos table iirc
Abaddon kills a Sargent model and has a 1 in 36 chance of going Spawn
This shit ripped
"this Chaos Spawn remains your Warlord" ahaha that rules
I always enjoy 1d6chan's chaos spawn gag
Especially the dedicated chaos spawn article who has an Inquisitor counting all the spawn he's had to blam in the course of the article so far
Yeah that shit rocked
Loved this kind of stuff
Is it high level tournament strats? No.
Is it funny as hell when something cool or dumb happens? Hell yeah
Also, I did once have a random CSM Sargent turn into a spawn after killing a character, which was honestly just a straight upgrade
Orc mek fires himself out of his own shock atk gun
Or the skaven bell that instant wins? Or whatever it was, the game.... If you roll 13 on a 2d6/1d12
The Warpstone Bell in WHF
Also, god I love Skaven
They’re just goofy lil guys
(Goofiness, littleness, and guy-ness may vary)
Thanquol paced. The plan was not going well. Surely, thought Thanquol, he was the most potent of mage-rats, the most exalted of the Council's agents. Why, then, did the Lords of Decay keep sending him inferiors to work with? Warlord Skrich of Clan Krik had jeopardised the task of destroying Citadelle La Bouef. True, Thanquol had promised the drawbridges would be down, but that had been the fault of those worthless Gutter Runners. Yes, the poison Thanquol had bought for them turned out to be so watered down as to be safely drinkable, but he had saved many warptokens. Thanquol gnawed his pale, rubbery tail, recalling how the Duke had counter-attacked, sending the Clanrats fleeing. The fool Assassin should have already slain that manling! Of course, Thanquol had reassigned the Assassin to kill several upstart Skaven in his own ranks, a mission from which the Clan Eshin agent had never returned. Such failures could only be devious sabotage! But who, thought Thanquol, would dare match wits with so mighty a personage as himself? The hidden foe must be dangerous indeed.
Thanquol is doing his best
He's so good a Slann helped him get home!
(because it forsaw that than alive is such a disaster for the skaven)
Look, he can’t help it, it’s just how he is
Frends – be warned! Evil ratmen of the trecherus skaven klan Skryre – may they be poxed forever, espeshully that wicked feend Heskit Wan Eye – plan to attak the Colledge of Ingineering this nite during the dark of the moon. They wish to steel your secrets for their own nefare-i-us porpoises. You must stop them or they will be wan step closer to conquering the surface world,
Yoor frend.
Nefeareius porpoises do sound pretty dangerous though, he's probably right they shouldn't be armed
