im just happy to get another detachment
i really dont care if its the last one or whatever
and someone somewhere is gonna say its shit or non viable, but i also dont care about that
Traditionally, the biggest and best Advent gift is the last one.
But also the recency effect.
But also also Space Wolves makes the most thematic sense out of the remaining armies
Counterpoint: If EC happens it would be huge news just for existing
Right but that would be Christmas Day, not Advent.
Slaaneshmas miracle
Slaaneshmas as I finally buy Space Marines. Which I mean pre-order Noise Marines.
I mean I meant even just an index and no new datasheets would be big
They have one. It's two units.
release actual Grimnir-claus detachment
Reject astartes, return to 250 kroothound
Yeah I don’t count it
Space Marine 2????
I meant, like, space marine models, but...

I trust the dark gods that we’ll get EC news soon
Oh I misunderstood the question. i thought you were asking which one are we looking forward to
Fair enough
will never understand complaining about being last ngl
like
if something is being released sequentially
someone is gonna be last
theres no two ways about it
I think within the context of a codex, being the last in the edition often means only getting a few months to maybe a year to play before the new edition comes in and changes a bunch of shit, and makes for a weird fit in the new edition because it's only maybe partially planned for the new set of rules.
right but the inherent undertone of the complaint is 'this sucks, and its bad that its happening to me specifically. it should be happening to other people'
and the stakes for the grotmas shit is even lower
taro always making interesting choices
Bases are just about 1.25" to a side, board hexes just slightly larger. 1 and 3/8 it looks like
Sweeet
So sisters detachment is "spend miracle die to buff"
also they just made it so we have like 2 miracle dice
discarding bad dice is useful though
bastion of faith is fun
i like sacresants
Deserved
Entirely
they still have a bunch of miracle dice generation right
so use what ya got and get more fast?
It's where you put the bad rolls
tau detachment on christmas
which is when Santa comes
Santa is red
farsight enclaves detachment confirmed?!?!
isnt retaliation cadre pretty much farsight detach already?>
They add the 8 🙏
ok, second guess based on how many detachments we got that can take units from another army, Gue'vesa Auxiliaries from IG confirmed?!?!
gonna be a tau tank detachment
or maybe a infantry focused detach
or a stealth detach
detachment that lets you select a tank with an enhancement, turning them into longstrike
just make it a experimental battlesuit enhancement
Sorry, longstrike doesn't exist anymore
thats why we'll get a detach eith the enhance
there's no way they decided his battlesuit was a failure of an experiment
homeboy wracked up those tank kills
Melee battlesuit detachment
vespid detachment
Wait, how many have there been this month? I know the two Knight ones and the GSC one off the top of my head
Oh right Harlequin Deldar
Still, 4 out of 25(?) isn’t a lot, that’s hitting on a 6+
I wonder if they are testing to see if it sells more models >.>
It will
I simply hope somebody else gets stuck with lingo as bad as calling our detachment ‘shat arse’
The drukhari/harlequins one looks tempting

Original video ( for those 3 last people on the internet who don't yet know it):

Okay, ||casting Emps in Skeletor's role|| is inspired
okay this is pretty fantastic
Was talking with a friend about how Cavill's warhammer project was still active last we heard and somehow we got onto the topic of what might be good stories to adapt. I though the Forges of Mars omnibus might lend itself well to an animated adaptation while he thought a live action ciaphas cain series would be good. I like cain and think it would be entertaining to see adapted but I wasn't sure about who he chose to play cain: David Tennet but he didn't have an idea for Jurgen or the others. Honestly think there are much better choices but our lunch break ended before we could continue on.
Most seem to be hoping for that one inquisitor series. That scale of that story would be a good amount for a live action adaption I'd say
Night lord omnibus could be good
I doubt they'd do an intro point that's not Imperial
ghost makers was always the communities first choice back in the day
or gaunts ghosts
how about a series about the adeptus titanicus but the fights with the warmachines are made in suits like in super sentai.
might work better with knights now that I think about it 🤔
Yes but the special effects budget would be a bit high. Sure amazon but hmm
Valerian and aleya could be fun to adapt
And gels with cavill's favourite faction
Okay, hear me out. Cavil play admiral Spire in a battlefleet Gothic adaption?
A story of faith and worship – watch the Adepta Sororitas in action and hear the first official Imperial Hymn sung in High Gothic!

I'm really hoping for something original, but if a book adaptation I'm hoping for Dan Abnett's Gaunt's Ghosts.
I doubt this is going to be it but I really do think an Imperial Navy setting would be great, even if just for a single battle sequence.
Just the wild numbers of cuts you could do for the wild swings in tone over the course of the same engagement.
The command deck with people looking at the tactical display while a string quartet plays and servitors go around with hours d'ourves
cut to repair crews of ratings crawling through the cramped pipes-and-steam tunnels
engineseers talking about how much strain the plasma boilers can take
Top Gun hijinx while the attack craft pilots get fueled and ready on the flight deck
chain gangs hauling the torpedoes into the tubes
scarred and grizzled Breacher NCOs taking orders from a tween midshipman while preparing to repel boarders
SPACE IS NOW BATTLEFIELDS
Don't forget some of the ships are so big they might as well be two cities stacked on top of each other, so you got families living within that might be involved in food production, or just...kinda finding ways to get by deep within the ship.
Yes!
40K ships are cities with broadside batteries. Just so much going on at so many levels every time they engage.
I was thinking Eisenhorn
Yeah, Eisenhorn is probably one of the “easiest” entires to the setting
Also because it’s one of the novels that’s more straight up about how the imperium sucks and is hypocritical
i think eisenhorn shines a light on a less explored side of 40k in the tabletop
and is a real fun dive into like... a spy story kinda vibe
I think Eisenhorn works well if it a show made for existing fans, if they are going for a more entry level show I think there might. Be too much niche lore in those books.
The Eisenhorn books were my intro to the franchise, I went in only knowing broad strokes stuff and thought they were pretty good
Also Eisenhorn is more small scale
It's probably exponentially easier to costume and film guy in longcoat having swordfight with random bad guys than full-scale Space Marine battle sequence
I mean Amazon has the cash to do whatever they want scale wise.
it's smaller scale but it's still like planetary invasion made up of non-euclidean cities
+++999.999 M41.0+++
ABADDON HAS DESPOILED CADIA
ONLY THE IMPERIAL FLEET STAND STANDS BEFORE HIM
+++SPACE IS NOW THE BATTLEFIELD+++
THAT'S THE NAME I WAS TRYING TO THINK OF
This is the plot summary for BFG Armada 2, tbh, haha
Abaddon the Despoiler, he'll turn your cheese back into milk
the thing about eisenhorn is that the set pieces bite into the chunky lore of the setting, but a lot of the meat of it is recognizably plucky dudes doing heists or spy stuff, dressed in warhamme clothes
inquisitorial retinues are effectively just pirate crews or heist teams in terms of composition
It needs to be Eisenhorn so he can get a new model and come back from legends (because his combination of rules was hilarious)
But what about Gaunt's Ghosts? The Tanith First-And-Fething-Only?
gaunts ghosts have all the makings of a classic war story dressed in warhammer clothes
could do formatting not dissimilar to BoB or The Pacific with it
but with a heftier scifi and warhammer overlay
It also helps that those books were inspired by Bernard Cornwell's Sharpe series of novels.
Which did have an adaptation back in the day. (Sean Bean played Sharpe)
BRING 👏 BACK 👏 INQUISITOR 👏 54MM 👏
What about some one.... eisenhorn adjacent?
Bequin or Ravenor?
Someone on the inq28 subreddit has been posting 3d prints of 40k models brought up to 54mm scale and they look absolutely sick
oh wow yeah this rules
I do think it's very funny how the people making =][= were clearly spending a lot of time going "this is great, we can really take advantage of this scale to include all the gribbly gross Blanche details that just don't work in 28mm scale, like check out the arco-flagellant I made"
& then a couple years later James Workshop goes "people love the arco-flagellant, let's scale it down to 28mm"
Lmao yeah
Those inquisitor sculpts are marvelous though, my god
Always forget how good they are until I see em again
absolutely gorgeous
Even more than the rest of the product line from GW this was an art project with a ruleset attached
There was literally an inquisitor that was "totally not" a space marine. They should make a big inquisitor
The was an Inquisitor in power armor, and there was also a Deathwatch marine
there were also rules for Space Marine acid spit, maybe the first time I'd seen that
I could swear there was one that had a sheild that had space marine organs
maaaaaaybe?
Hector rex! That was the guy
ahhhh, nice
..........in theory no

To kinda compare though, A borzoi and a dachshund can interbreed. But should they is the better
Is that because craft worlders wouldnt accept them or is it because they cant use soulstones?

I think Exodites do
I see
They use "the world spirit" iirc
The planet is the soul stone
Harlequins accept drukhari too dont they?
Yes
All you have to do to become a harlequin is serve the laughing God
That is the path of the wanderer so yes
Deldar don't accept Harlequins so much as tolerate the clowns rolling in and making honking noises.
Oh! Other way around
"Ugh they're back and they're juggling out in the street."
my favorite space elves are the corsairs honestly
From the rouge trader game is seems the deldar are also easily annoyed by harlequins because the clowns always know more than you
Imma go bed now
thanks for the info friends
They are also terrifying even among aeldari
Gn!
Best of luck fox
iirc the planet gets used in place of the craftworld infinity circuit, they still need a soulstone to get to that point
Eldar dies, spirit goes in the stone, stone gets hoooked into the bespoke afterlife they made
night Fox
Harlequins go "skill issue, Laughing God's got my back"
DEldar go "skill issue, I will never die"
Imagine if you knew all you all your gods were dead or shattered
Except one
I just seriously love the DEldar, just in how, like
ten thousand years on, every other Eldar faction is completely defined by the Fall, and how they try to cope with it and the mistakes their civilization did
& then the DEldar are hanging around in the universe's basement looking at the ruin of the civilization and the pantheon of the greatest empire in the galaxy's history and going "I'm built different"
So this little talk has reminded me of something that perfectly represents the Dark Eldar.
The Skeksis Emperor and General discuss their fear of death. Season 1, Episode 10
I make no claims to this video clip. I do not own it, am not monetizing it and the content is unaltered from the original broadcast.
The Dark Eldar have not moved on from the Fall. They look at it, and go "The only problem is that so many of us died."
But that's to hide the true terror
The utter torture that waits for them afterwards, that their entire society is scrabbling tooth and nail and blade and splinter to stave off.
"I'm built different" is a comfortable lie.
But the truth is that they're the exact same as the ones who caused the Fall.
"damn a billion billion people died so lines go up and we keep living the high life"
i love cringe harlequins
In other news, I've assigned fursonas to all the legions (originally within the context of "furry supersoldier AU")
ram is fun
Please keep the reasoning for the space wolf blank it's way funnier
I'll change it to "vibes"
Space Wolves being listed as "Vibes" is funnier is we leave "Names and themeing" as the reason for the Raven Guard.
For thousand sons, scarab works but I personally would go for jackal or falcon for the egypt vibes
I still think that Magnus and Horus should have their names swapped
stormsurge knight-style army detachment?
oops
concession end of turn 2 cause we were both pretty tired and there was like 4 pathfinders left
i thinkkk main thing is overextension and a pretty bad map for pathfinders
was layout 2 and I had the sniper nest
aquilons were really fun but damn is playing a new faction in this game so much energy
Complicated or what?
Time to pull up with the bug boys for the greater good
wouldnt have changed anything really
(I do really want to try kill team, I just have to find time for it)
its very fun
I've heard yeah, and the teams look cool
It’s fun yeah
But I'm also a tau player so I have a lot of options which is neat
There’s good TTS support if you’re interested in that
Yeah Tau have 3 teams which is pretty good
Sick
Technically more than space marines do right now haha
Err
The same number I should say
The Tau ones are neat too
Vespid are… weird but have pretty nasty shooting
Astartes are basic anyway
Kroot are a technical sneaky team with some good damage now
I was reading into Vespid rules, they look pretty silly
And very different, I like it
Pathfinders are… a little weird now because they were monsters last edition
Some of their mechanics got hit so now they’re just kind of a team with good guns
very scary guns
Yeah
I can see Volkus being tricky for them since there’s tons of heavy cover to advance under
yeah
recon sweep is still very good though
and their like. 5th strategic ploy 'do a mission action at the start of the firefight phase'
blooded and marksman can be pretty scary throwing out silent shots, with the blooded able to like move markerlight shoot during the art of war turn
I love guns
Pathfinders are a good team for gun likers
Though there’s a good number of good shoots teams
I like a lot of the melee teams though
Penny vs
hehe ye
I hope very much for an Armoured Interdiction Cadre rule
I am hopelessly imagining a strat that gives Hammerheads an anti-Keyword rule so it can bypass invluns.
If I wanted to do a command and conquer proxy army using 40k models, which faction might be best for the different armies? My initial thought was Tau for tibierum wars/Tiberium Sun GDI and genestealers from the Brotherhood of Nod but what do you think?
New blood angels detachment today
Definitely tau though they're a little mech heavy
I mean in tiverium sun the tank equivalent was the titan walker
Gsc is a little ramshackle for nod, maybe a cultist heavy csm list?
Nod literally armor things with wood
Bikes, buggies, and brood brother tanks
Oh true brood brothers
I mostly played c&c3 so I'm picturing some of thier fancier stuff
Falchion for space marines would be perfect for a mammoth tank (and in lore is even called the mammoth tank sometimes) though the rogal dorn might also pass for a workable mammoth now.
Also space marines already have a predator tank
Yeah c&c1 nod was way more low tech
Soviets would definitely be guard
(Best C&C is Tiberian Sun and I will die on this hill)
Though I have no idea what faction would map to TS Nod
GDI is definitely Tau
Nod might actually be Eldar
Lots of deep striking and super-specialized units
For Deep Cut Lore
Forgotten are GSC, CABAL is Necrons
Generals is easiest
GLA - GSC
USA - Space Marines
China - Guard
Nod is GSC lore matching wise. But yeah, GSC doesn't have the high/low tech split
They had stealth tanks and giant lasers in the first game
I mean more the whole low-tech terrorist organization thing wasn't really there
They were always a stateless superpower with a lot of high technology
Hammerhead=predator tank (with railgun upgrade)
Crisis suits=zone troopers
Pathfinders=snipers
Ghostkeel=wolverines
Riptide=titan
Barracuda/tigershark=Orca or some other aircraft
Devilfish=APC
I have...Opinions about C&C 3 and what it did to the lore. >_>
But not the channel for it
TS Nod is like...From Tier 1 you had shit like lasers, cyborgs, and subterranean deployment
If you replacd cyborgs with mutants than gsc might fit some of that.
I was thinking the first game where they did terrorism and also had secret high tech. Fair at the second game them being more high-tech
I meant more TD was less 'mobs of militants' and more 'actually has modern military hardware'
Lore-wise Nod had thoroughly infiltrated the western Military Industrial Complex
Which is why they had Bradleys and Apaches and the like
Maybe CSM with a focus on cultists? Bring in some decimators from legends, knights or war dog karnivores to replicate the avatar units from cnc3 possibly. Not really any light tanks as an option though except the predators.
Awesome
The brass scorpion comes with some free dudes
Good view
They look like the star wars Nimbus commandos
In case you wanna shoot your shot
"My only goal is to progress the ynnari plot"
Real
Resume is blank except for #freeIsha
I hope things get worse
btw
imperial navy usually avoids fucking with a craft world right?
if so i imagine is out of fear
I mean more because the Eldar ships keep it safe than because the Imperial Navy wouldn't try.
Safe distance, hard to detect, bunch of Farseers working out a path that convienently misses conflict where they can.
hard to catch, hard to beat, generally not worth the commitment it takes to focus on one
is a craftworld bigger or smaller than the phalanx?
Bigger.
Given some allowances for 40K being absolute nonsense and wildly inconsistent in terms of scope and scale but Phalanx is "absurdly oversized space craft" and a Craftworld is, well, "we built a planet.'
It is a world that was crafted
holy shit I remember those
Definitely saw the WIP thread on Warseer circa 200 uhhh 8 maybe
damn what’s up with that inexorable march of time huh folks
Freakin sweet
The phallax was built around a moon iirc
Hey, we have a standard-bearer Bloodletter here that tips over at the slightest provocation.
What's the solution? Just weights on/under the base (possibly in the form of a magnet)
That could help. I bought tin fishing weights and smashed them down to fit in a base for my hormagaunts (some people use lead ones but those scare me. Or use pennies but we don't have those in Canada anymore lol).
Use a loonie
What's making your models 1 dollar more expensive fr
So half the players in my crusade are obsessed with a map that actually has a waffle house in the middle of it. This is their latest mad creation that stemmed from their obsession that I have heard about. I reluctantly present the Waffle Throne.
fully 17% more violent than the 21st century Waffle House
Only 17% is surprising for 40k
Half the battles so far in the crusade have been over waffle house because either they like the map that much or are too lazy to find more.
(it's a joke about how fighty non-40K Waffle House already is)
(17% is a funny percentage because it's high enough to seem specific while still being comically low in context)

Look, there's a cross-section of 40k fans who have wanted to see humans and eldar kiss for the entire duration of their awareness of the franchise and now we finally have a lead-in and we're not going to waste it you hear me
cant you kiss an eldar in rogue trader?
someone in another server I'm in posted pictures of an eldar Lynx with this on it
also handsome Gelt
You can have a 100% ace romance with an eldar in Rogue Trader
(It's a very good romance too)
(Yrliet is kind of weirded out by the idea of intimate physical contact with a human and if you can't respect that you can go meditate in the same room as someone else)
i saw some of her dialogue
Oh hey the Tau grotmas detachment is out
honestly i thought she was very mean, i heard even the drukkhari is nicer to you
Look, it's another Kroot detachment!
(||Technically it's for all Auxiliaries. Which is Kroot and Vespid. No, no Gue'vesa||)
It's less about Kroot and more of a Combined Arms detachment
kroot....TWOOOO
My personal opinion after reading it is that it might be good but isn't especially exciting. Combined arms detachments have a history of being fiddly and the strats are pretty run-of-the-mill
its not really that different from hunting pack tbh
like in detail kinda yes but in general kroot + tau is already how hunting pack is played
Yeah that's the other part, it's a similar list-build except now you can use Vespid too
(also personally couldn't care less auxiliaries dont get ftgg??)
I remember it being a fairly common complaint
what's ftgg?
it is
For The Greater Good, the Tau 10e Army Rule
i just dont really think its that big a deal
especially since the auxiliaries have pretty great base profiles
and the two are like. probably related lol
Ye there's obviously adjustment for the lack of an army rule
B/c all the units are still good without it
and also i feel like ppl complain about the restrictions of ftgg all the time so its not even a strict upside
It's not like TSons where everyone is taking as few non-Cabal units as possible
B/c more cabal points -> more stuff you can do
People didn't like it for admech (though there were a lot of issues with that codex). I think people get annoyed by army rules that don't apply to significant parts of the army
I feel like most people play hunting pack as pure kroot in casuals
Target triangulation is a little near I guess
I also like how you can deep strike 60 farstalkers for 15 points
And then drop a suit on them
Along with the stealth field, helps with not having your aux shot off the board kinda
I think it's cool, lets you use more kroot models and Vespid left out of the hunting pack
May not use it as much but cool
if kroot eat enough space marines
would the results be different depending if there was a majority of the geneseed of a specific primarch?
In theory yes
pure kroot is usually not super killy but they can get on and then hold points like a mfer
Despite the frequent use of terms like “gene forged” when describing space marines they aren’t really genetically altered
So there’s not much notable to eat for kroot except maybe the progenoids
Maybe some of the implanted organs could be replicated ?
I think all the implanted organs would be fun and tasty to them
Yeah there’s definitely some stuff there
Geneseed is stored in balls
But not those
Space marines also have a baseline rate of mutation and things going screwy and kroot really avoid anything that might send a group into a weird offshoot from something like that
Also I think space marine organs might not be the most tasty. Like eating a fish you caught in an industrial run off river.
You get a larger-than-normal bonus for eating space marines as a Kroot in Wrath and Glory
I wonder how drukhari taste to kroot
bitter
And probably super saturated in drugs
Kroot love eating things but they have shapers to help figure out if it's useful
There's a couple things they don't eat, like anything warp tainted like chaos or Drukhari, necrons, Nids, but it usually takes at least a generation of eating for big evolutionary steps to go through
It could be faster but usually they avoid it so they don't become like kroot hounds or their mounts, which all used to be kroot who ate themselves into an evolutionary dead end
Who paints all the chaos warriors armour
Is it like some slanessh paint cult/demon or do all the warbands just have “that artistic guy”
khornate paint cult for the world eaters
its just blood (tm)
They paint them at the gym
death guard 100% get nurglings to do it
Death guard just have moldy armor
also very true
Cultists usually
Well we are obviously, unless you don't paint your minis
This will be my excuse if I ever paint Deathguard models and it's really bad
I kind of hate how deathguard have just become a flat green colour, nurgle should be vibrant
Go to the Maggotkin in AoS
There's something really funny to me about the idea of "The Chapter Weight Room"
Where marines just pump iron
isn't that just the entire Fortress Monastery
Astartes call each other "Brother" all the time which is, fundamentally, just a fancy way of calling each other "Bro"
I generally imagine a lot of marine training was task specific rather than muscle training, but an anointed weight room is amusing to me
Headcanoning that they just take the power pack out of a marine’s armour and have them try to fulfill normal tasks as strength training
"Sick gains, Brother."
"My Brother, would you trust me to spot you?"
"In this as in all things, Brother."
chaos marines don't spot each other, very unsafe
Tzeenchian plotting to re-write lower weights on all the plates so the chief sorcerer crushes himself
Kroot Combined Arms seems... interesting. Not sure how it's supposed to work with vehicles?
Like.. do I pair rampagers as a Vanguard for my Hammerhead, or a static Carnivores security force? Does my hammerhead even care is there's Kroot nearby? AP-6 is ridiculously silly.
The strategems seem great, though.
AP-6 means they will need both cover and an AoC rule if they have a 2+. AP-7 means they never get one
Railgun has a AP-5 naturally
And it's ridiculously easy to get [Ignores Cover] on T'au
Oh right. FtGG gives you that right?
If the Observer has [Markerlight] (most do)
My wife, who was standing next to me when I purchased Be'lakor for her for Christmas, was very passionately pleading with me to get her Be'lakor today at the Warhammer store
Despite Be'lakor sitting, unwrapped, on the kitchen table in plain sight for a week.
Chaos Gods bless this woman's terrible memory
clearly she was ensorcelled by Tzeentch (games workshop) to buy more plastic
have you considered that maybe 2 bel'akor is better than one?
Be'lakor kissin' the homies (another Be'lakor) 4k.
I@m constantly surprised
how durable 20 carnivores is
ALSO rampagers sometimes hit like heckin trucks
Time to get her a Chaos Primarch
She was also eyeing Angron. (Or, more accurately, his sword)

Time to get the Angron mini.
Still not sure which I like better, Mortarion or Angron.
This woman is astoundingly Khorne-pilled for someone that refuses to learn the lore for reasons unknown.
The posture of a millenial
hmm
feels like a chaplain thing would've been more interesting than just start of round
i went back to it, and honestly, i really like the tau combined arms detach
i dont think it'll be big competetive
Is it combined arms because you are combining so many different species' limbs?
but bonus AP in general is pretty strong
naaah
its combined arms because it has benefits for bringing both mainline tau and auxiliary units
meaning kroot and vespid
Yeah, so you have a lot of different species' limbs involved 😛
i dont think railguns need the bonus AP, but high yield missile pods would probably love it, ion cannons would like it a bit
Also regular guns
and yeah all the regular guns in your arsenal
like pulse carbines and rifles, burst cannons, smart missiles etc
1 extra AP can make a huge difference
It's just funny to have such an absurd AP for a rail gun
"if you dont have an invuln, GEEEETTTOUTTA HERE"
HH admech rules?
itd be cool if special rules for squads rested on the squad leader
and that precision let you target sergeants
but i feel like its not balanced for that atm
just think sergeants being more significant would be cool
Custodes got theirs pretty early on. It's space wolves on the 24th
Yeah they got a vehicle detachment of all things, but if you like their dreads it probably fucks
space wolves on the 24th?
wowie
I'm also looking at the T'au aux detachment. It looks like there's a fun army in there.
I'm imagining Skyrays and Sunforges with a Krootox vanguard...
Space Vikings with their Space Santa Claus chapter master on Christmas eve? It does seem suspect, I know.
Bringing gifts to all well behaved wolf cubs
(The gift is a chain axe)
Completely forgot that
Me when I drop 60 farstalkers and 4 crisis suits in your backlinen
Turns out there’s a warhammer shop half an hour from us that hosts game
We may finally get to play 🍀
Sometimes I wonder if I might get more into Necromunda than the other 40k wargames
If I did, I'm horribly torn between the Malstrain Genestealer Cults, Ironhead Squats, or Corpse-Grinder Cult
Munda is sick as hell but CGC's are just about the worst gang to start with
They got a whole thing going on thats basically leaning into playing like a jackass
Not always in a bad way but you can't get a good understanding of the core with them
You are rewarded for Basically be lining out into the oignoring any and all cover obstacles or tactical adv and simply pounding things
Falsehoods means that your few shooting units can advance up the board without being able to be shot at for 2 turns
And the butchers masks make actually shootin melee threats a leadership gamble u less you stack nades and flamers
In short very strong gimmick very strong models but ultimately still just a single gimmick and a game that is very multifaceted And a single gimmick is just going to teach you how to play poorly in 90% of other circumstances
Patrick Wagesreither ... drawing stuff and visiting cafes
dumping loads of sketchbook pages here all day long
Weaters out, woofs confirmed last
Pick a couple guys each round, they (and their unit) get a bonus blessing for free
started building some farstalkers and the alt/generic warrior builds are so cool
just lots of nice poses
reloading guy, grenade guy, etc
the stalker model is also really nice. crouching sneaky guy
made the kill broker with a carbine
oh! another thing; alt build for the kroot with the bow gun has a chainsword on their back instead of the quiver
ok this detachment is what i needed tbh
reminds me of 9th edition rules which i actually like
yes
Yeah it looks both fun and really solid
Especially because people were using blessings to do specific combos with specific units… now you can just target 3 units with one blessing guaranteed
Especially if it was like a 3 blessing jackpot combo, only needing to roll 2 out of 3 because you can just pick the third? Adds a lot of reliability
oh!!!! new kill teams are on the app
gw is wild
kill team having freely available team rules even as they release new stuff is awesome! and yet for the core rules you only get the quickstart lmao
which is a reference at best
oh huh, just realised wrecka points are basically rending
just you get to bank the crit if needed, etc
ooh extra armour equip is neat. team wide plus 1 wound but minus 1" move
Yeah it’s so strange
dog
ratling operative selection is a little confusing
aiui theyre effectively a 14 model kill team, with the bonus for being models short
ogryns cost two models
but then the weird thing is
you cant actually take 14 models
so if you dont take ogryns you have to take the free strats instead
Oh that is weird
holy shit
finger reader
thats really cool
not super into the skull masks on the frateris
but I think thats partially the paintjob tbh
not sure metal skulls work
this is quite nice
Something about them is goofy in a good way to me, like they do look silly but for these models that feels on tone
fair!
Yooooooo. Who is this?
Follow up with that detachment. Iirc, there's only one mounted world eaters model. And the WE sticky objective is so-so. I always read it that you kill a model on it, you have it. Unless it's you have it until they out OC the unit that you captured it
It's the same as all sticky objectives: it's yours until your opponent out-OCs you (so if you leave the objective, they only need OC 1 to take it back)
It's not as good as normal sticky but it's pretty thematic
That's not a new strategy then
I think Khorne demons got the same thing. But otherwise the specifics are new to grotmas?
It's funny that Epic Heros can't be vessels of wrath in this detachment. This one is only for nameless characters
Again so funny it calls out a mounted we models when there is only one
Future proofing
It would be really funny if they releases the WE on juggernaut unit before codex
You can make the not lord innvocatus mounted Berzerker
I have not seen anyone run them
Hey wait a second fellas
or not just not letting you use the stratagem with them cause theyre not infantry
What is that acronym supposed to be?
What the hell is that acronym
Accept Any Challenge No Matter The Odds
oh blood surge isnt new
It was the Vow Black Templar players used 99% of the time in 3e
World Eaters need a strategem, Carnifexen and endless horde gaunts do it naturally
This one right here was NEEDED
Might have been a BT army rule it’s been a while
It’s the one where they “fell forward” on passed LD checks but had to check on every casualty
They got rid of multiple surge moves. No more zipping hilariously far up the board when your opponent shoots you
This mostly worked in combination with ATSKNF right?
berserkers always get it
Why are we these acronyms
True
strat lets you do it with anything
That helped but high LD characters helped more
Because "and they shall know no fear" is really long. Though that was space marine wide and more common
This was space marines for like 10 years haha
know no fear means they regroup after they fall back forwards
That’s why all the old 40K forums have highlighted definitions for common acronyms
I'm surprised it isn't a rule somewhere in 10th
Do loyalist marines have slightly higher ld on average than CSM?
It’s kinda canonical yeah
Primaris were originally relatively green/inexperienced space marines using untested (but good) weapons with ancient docrines
And “modern” space marines while often decayed or degenerated in terms of gene-seed are held to a comically high and wasteful standard
Got to see if your new recruits will survive a pointless surgery done with rusty tools and without antibiotics
Yeah
Back in the heresy days you’d use proper sterile techniques and get slightly less deranged and hardcore astartes
But also not kill like 500 little boys in the process
How did it get there. Was it the chapter number cap?
I think that was a factor but it’s I think more the ascendancy of chapter cults and the replacement of rationality with superstition and ritual
Making space marines as strong as possible is an ritualistic end unto itself now
But also if you only get 1000 fellas there is an incentive for the 1000 fellas to be as dangerous as possible for sure
So we can divide space marines into 3 times. Legion, Chapter and Primaris chapter
I think the moral of chaper and primaris is higher than legion marines
Legio Chapter Primus Sanctioned Chapter Primaris Legiones
imagine that as an astartes chapter lol
Also you ever think about the fact that with the aspirant process taking a decade, you have to plan your replacements a while out?
Primaris legions was a thing with gman and the unnumbered sons
If you're the black templars you're always recruiting
It sounds like it would be very easy to overshoot that 1000 limit just by the chapter getting involved in less battles than expected or too many aspirants surviving in a given class
The codex allows for that - the scout company is permitted to the overstrength
But also I think the expectation is that you juice the reserve companies and enter a crusade if you want up overstrength
Idk if it would be demoralizing to learn that the Red Consuls just started supporting you because they were over strength from an actuarial issue and needed to go to war now lol
Or if you're the space wolves you just don't tell anyone and if someone comes around asking, they disappear into the cold wilderness.
Homebrew chapter where the scout company is twenty thousand plus mostly-cooked supersoldiers waiting for promotions as slots open up
They keep sending them on minor crusades but they keep abusing Lanchester’s laws when you apply 20000 soldiers to a 1000 soldier problem and not enough are dying
That is basically the brothhood of a thousand
There is ALWAYS 1000 marines with them
I think those guys might be cooking their books
BROTHER WE HAVE NOT SUSTAINED ENOUGH CASUALTIES WE MUST CRUSADE HEADLONG INTO BOLTERFIRE
Peak
Perfection
i wanna know where the vashtor story will go
To the forge of souls and perty
Peter turbo
I would bet peter is basically a daemon prince of vashtorr
Rather than undivided
A daemon prince of "chaos undivided" empowered by vashtorr rather than the 4
If he's just lead engineer at the forge of souls, designing and making daemon engines, I think Pert might be living his best life
I think the current direction the lore is going in is that Perturabo rolled his own daemonic ascension
But it’s all pretty vague
Making a contract with vashtorr would be a way to do it or maybe even funnier, Vashtorr was a weak thing and peter pumped him up
while he might be better off now than back in the heresy
i think it's hard for him to find happiness
as he really did not want to make war .3.
back when he was a lad that is
Ah but I have to bring up a point from this book. "When given the materials, you could have made anything, what you chose to make was a sword"
I might be paraphrasing the exact words.. It was either his sister or dad
I'd bet sister
eeeeeeeeh it's complicated
Calliope did care about him but hated his ego. Perty, like Cruze, knew what he was always
And the emperor in his hubris, thought Perty was be exactly what he designed him to be and treated him as such. But perty was 95% exactly what he was designed to be
I'm in the Peter did everything right camp

He had info built in
Was he the one who constantly felt the Eye of Terror looking at him?
Or was that someone else
Everytime he closed his eyes he would see the eye of terror i think
That was Pete, yeah
Given both morty and conrad had the whole "death to tyrants" thing going its interesting one went the way they did
Wife has asked me several times why there aren't any cool demon models with cool bows and I don't know how to tell her that space game people think bows are dumb (they're wrong)
"But if he 'cares not from where the blood flows', then why can't it flow from 100 yards that way?" style questions.
hehe yeah
"I want to stab that man, but I don't want to walk. Khorne should love bows!"
sybarites has really nice bows but they're mortals :( some of them are riding slaanesh beasts
Real shit
They're also Slaaneshi.
tbf khorne is pretty into guns
Realer
skull cannon etc
Is that a comically large plasma cannon?
just space marines have gotten bigger since
Right right. Those are guns. Yup. She's talking specifically about bows (Because bows are cool)
Had to make bigger space marines to fit the plasma cannons they made
no I get that haha
I do think it’s weird that there’s no daemons with bows
i just mean for khorne specifically I dont think theyd have bows because they already have guns
but kinda an underappreciated aspect of khorne lately. same with world eaters
I was relating the new Khorne detacment to her and she did a mad grin at "Oh! Your guys have grenades now. Except they're exploding skulls that are on fire because they're a heavy metal album cover"
oh weird skyfires arent listed on the webstore
but the enlightened are. its the same box
little baby screamers on one of them 🥺
Those guys are kinda cool, I'll admit.
These guys are such assholes in Space Marine 2 haha
Yeah
I was hoping to get something like em for Weaters
I don’t need servos and muscle fibers, I just need THESE GUNS
Wait they added in Tzangors on discs?
They always have been a metal album

Yeah and they have some wild moves haha
Huh, I need to play it some more
Was this in the PVE stuff or threw em into the campaign?
The PvE stuff is quite fun
Probably an issue of tone not translating well through text.
I am well aware.
Pve idk if they’re in the campaign spawns
Have they added any more missions after the Bio-Titan one?
Reading the Absolvers supplement for Wrath & Glory. Guess we can add another Blood Angels successor chapter to the list of successors with shit luck with their gene-seed flaws
The co-op pve stuff, yeah
had my second game of kill team today
hierotek circle (me) vs. tempestus aquilons (them)
we didn't even add up the vp because it was a complete necron sweep in all three ops
but we went to round four before collectively recognising the complete stomp, which was better than last time where it happened after two
there were funny moments
like how the despotek was one of the only units on my side to take any damage, and stayed stubbornly alive for the entire game through resurrections and canoptek repairs whilst camping the middle objective
or when a precursor had a fist fight with a deathmark (with methodical elimination and tesla weave active) and came out of it with 1hp from almost full health
Hell yeah.
almost! done!
The boys in blue.
Did you paint the heraldry(?) on?
they're transfers, though i freehanded the chequerboard
space marines
As God Intended
question for kill team big-brains:
as tempestus aquilons, how do you defeat hierotek circle?
my opponent is gradually getting less curb-stomped each game and i want to eventually bring about the day where i can lose a match and have a "the student has become the master" moment
It’s rough rn ngl
Heirotek is extremely S-tier and Aquilons, like a lot of teams, struggle to kill them
The default advice applies of bring as much firepower as you can and play carefully - your goal as Aquilons is to use your superior numbers and mobility to score your secondary hard while limiting engagements to favorable shootouts/melee
But you’re up against a team which is insanely hard to kill and has strong firepower so it’ll be hard to stop them from enforcing their own game plan
Also Plant Beacon is probably your best tacop for Aquilons
Vertical distance counts for beacon distance!
It’s kind of free to drop troops onto high vantages for beacons
wait does it
Yeah it’s just 6” period
i think you only ever measure vertical if a model is involved
So teams like Aquilons and Vespid and such can exploit easy access to heights for beacons
I… think that’s how it works anyway
I’m kinda parroting someone who plays Aquilons more
fair fair
Yeah it’s not a bad way to fight them
Knives seem like good equipment against them
Could be worse could be Warpcoven haha
Lol yeah
And it’s not impossible to beat them they’re just very good rn
Honestly Space Marine 2 kinda woke me up to em
I might get some as mix ins for my CSM
Eventually
I like the vibes but I dislike how thier current mechanics force you to spam characters for max cabal points
I imagine it would have been more fun in an edition with more customization and a psychic phase
this doesn't line up with my experience
mainly for the strategic ploy that gives all hierotek melee weapons accurate 1, or accurate 2 if they're defending/moved less than 3" before attacking
obviously not standing up to dedicated groups of melee attackers, but give very reliable counterplay to being fought
especially with tesla weave
Yeah they're like better than dedicated ranged units of other teams but don't stand up to real melee units
Yeah it’s more “fold to dedicate melee” than “very bad”
But Aquilons have 1.5 melee models
Yeah it doesn't help for that matchup
My first team and one I still love is Legionaries but Aquilons just don’t have access to those kinds of melee freaks
he also seemed very underwhelmed by the capstone team gimmick of the drop deployment
he flat-out thinks it's a worse idea than just deploying the whole team on the ground
Then aquilions is probably not a good choice of team lmao
which wasn't helped by the persistent confusion over how it actually works
Yeah it’s pretty good but it sounds like that team might not be his speed
Though I think there are situations where oops all grounded is good
this compounded on persistent confusion over line of sight and cover rules through both matches from both of us
which is a universal kill team experience i think
Yeah super common unless you’re melee v melee

Dammit. The more I think about the new T'au aux detachment, the more I find myself lovingly looking at some Krootox Riders...
Do you think the might lords and drukhari forever chase the torturous power of Rogal Dorn's pocket book of jokes, and forever fall short?
Less than 100 pages in, so far enjoying Elemental Council
Enjoying the occasional humour.
Water Caste Guy is my favorite right now
What was the last big event in the timeline?
I think it was the Cicitrix Malidictum and the return of Guilliman?
Nah it was the arks of Omen and the blood crusade I think
So effectively the return of the Lion and the sacking of the Rock
Arks of Omen is the most recent "big plot thing"
Actually the Pariah Nexus stuff is newer I think
But not as "big" of a deal for the setting
It feels like it hints at a possible big thing but didn't have a big thing of its own
I do think any development around the silent king is probably significant
I know Gulliman and The Silent King are going to meet in the next book
Or something of that nature
Since Guillman is going to investigate the Pariah Nexus stuff
Wasn't one of the big developments that there's a big civil war brewing for the Necrons?
Idk if it's civil war brewing but a lot of dynasties were upset that the Silent King authorized the use of the instant death weapons despite them being "dishonorable"
Well we got the other big Necron figure who's presenting himself as a rival from what I recall. Imotekh the Stormlord.
I wonder if other parts of the imperium ever get space marine tanks. I mean Rhinos are common enough and it’s not like regular humans can’t operate them.
they seem pretty specific in them being issued to chapters
rhinos get modified into other kinds of tanks but marine patterns seem sacred
The lion coming back isn't big?
Right but if sisters, arbites, etc get rhinos and a predator is a rhino with sponsons and a turret it feels like it would just be a little bit more effort to give them the 4 lascannon special
Yeah but they're not space marines
I think it's probably ideological not practical
I'd say it's big, but not as big as the end result of the Vashtorr's plans.
god says you cant put a predator turret on the rhino unless your his kids
Shoot just putting lascannons on it was like 500 years of turmoil
imagine the panic in the halls of temples when the repressor had its stormbolter put in a turret mounting
Yeah when it doubt it's because someone relatively important proclaimed "I'll fucking kill you if you do that"
Hey killteam players. I bought the Krieg death korps box, whats the best configuration of troops to build since things like Sniper and Sapper share the same sprew.
(@me if you reply)
Are you comfortable magnetizing?
Ohhh hrmmmm
Thats a good idea
I've only done that on crisis suits
Weapons for those super easy
IIRC there's relatively few overlaps and while it's kinda annoying to not be able to bring both options at once it's nice to not need to choose
in universe even the marines getting that was controversial
but predators-equivs more broadly are around
castigators
and you can probably find citations for random imperial factions
the heresy army also had their own version
the main armoured force just uses like, actual tanks instead of apcs converted into tanks
but if we didnt turn apcs into tanks we would not have the razorback Rikarius 👀
Always been a thinned black paint fan personally
space wolfs: "Ours charge phase"
So you can 3" heroic intervention for free. I always forget, is the fighting after you charge in the charge phase or after charges then it's the fight phase and it's like the units that charges have fights first?
Cool detachment naming, we have Champions of Russ and Champions of Fenris
After the charge phase is the fight phase and charging normally gives fights first (though not on heroic interventions)
I feel like mass counter charging could be really good, especially if you bring fights first models or fights on death models
Also since you treat it like your charge phase, you can use impact mortals like from the brutalis
If it's like heroic intervention you don't get charge bonuses
it's so weird how they keyworded charge bonus and then didn't use the system with anything other than the default fight first
And what is the ordering, is it the opponent fights first, then you who did the charge, then your unit that was charged, OR is it you because you charged their charge so you fight then the opponent then your unit
The charge bonus is fighting first in the fight phase
Unit special rules, as far as I can tell, still trigger
So impact mortals, extra attacks, etc still trigger
It says any charge bonus. So I assume that includes anything that triggers on a charge
The only thing you get by default for charging is fighting first in the fight phase
You alternate fights first units, starting with the defender. Then you alternate normal units, also starting with the defender
Why did they say "any" instead of "the" then lmao
Everything else is unit special rules that trigger based on charging
because it's weird!
The fact that it also specifies that it counts as charging in your charge phase is key
To how it uses unit special rules
could an eldar pass as a human if deep within a hive city that's already full of mutants?
Most people don't know what Eldar look like. So they could probably pass as a human mutant in most places
Humanity and mutant plus pretty is rare
More fun/unnerving question, could you make an eldar into a servitor?
You know from the infinite and the divine, the necrons make a servitor kinda of that one prediction race
Eldar are also like a full foot taller than most humans
More slender
Personally I don't think Eldar could pass for human
Mutant yeah, or obviously Xenos if not eldar
Deathwatch did
i kind of consider mutants humans so i'll take that as a yes
Everything can be servitorized
Could an eldar pass as human is a bit like can a navigator
It's tech heresy. Why would you waste a holy machine on a Xenos?
Sometimes a magos biologis get’s tempted by how strong and plentiful orks are
Lot of biomass there
It’s only heresy if someone finds out
No, it's heresy, but you only get in trouble if someone finds out, and your name isn't Bellisarius Cawl.
There are some sects that are cool with it
In Rogue Trader, there's an Eldar that's introduced to you as a planetary governor's pet mutant. Most people believe it without hesitation and it takes you a Lore (Xenos) test to catch the lie.
Psychic gun
You don't need servitor parts for that, you just consecrate it with the appropriate rituals and slap a purity seal on the side.
That is also the planetary governor saying that. That is a sort of
Psychic scanner?
Then ths ruler of the planet says that. And few are the people that can supercede what a planetary governor
They've returned our heroic intervention on everything to us
Should be pretty good with grey hunters
There is a whole mission that let's you heroic intervention for free
What’s the universal heroic intervention strat range?
It's notable that the Eldar also never spent any time in close proximity with humans than was strictly necessary, and had the word of the governor backing them up
I hope the alpha legion wins
Who’s thinking we might get emperors children reveal tomorrow?
my hopes are HH admech rules but probably more likely for EC
They did tease something for Christmas
resolve that if I ever get into 40k properly to avoid Space Marines
Have an idea for a chaos space marine warband
btw, do iron warrior chaos warbands stay at the eye of terror?
Some do
That is where most of the dark mechanicus are and supply lines are hard without them
Most of the old Legion Warbands operate out of the Eye of Terror
it's a perfect base of operations for Chaos, because it's functionally impossible for the Imperium to operate in
Also it provides the Iron Warriors specifically the chance to do cool tech stuff in a place where things like "laws of physics" are more vague suggestions
Also time works way different in there so there are plenty of “long war” veterans who were at the Horus heresy
makes sense
It’s also why they have kept so much archeotech
Warbands might be all over the place but Iron Warriors HQ is in Medrengard in the eye of terror
The night lords specifically stay out of the eye of terror tho
There's also a lot of recruits who think their veterans of terra due to the wibbly eye of terror
