you really don'y see any normal 1 handed warhammers in 40k at all tbh almost anywhere
everything is a big 2 handed polearm or bust in most places
honestly though, i think csm might be matched with LoV as far as means to field mass amounts of hammer is they want to
or overmatched
thanks to assault termies
and thunderhammers being possible on almost all sergeants
this reminds me im still vaguely dorf nerd annoyed by love having swords lol
but thats like an easy enough thing to not have on my models so its ultimately not a big deal
tbh it doesn't bother me much personally, ties into the vaguely nordic vibes well enough. I do wish they had more pole weaponry but thats just not a commonality on minis in general
im very much the kind of dorf nerd who wants dorfs to like all hammers and axes. with maybe some spears lol
the fact they still sold this guy when the datasheet was removed was so mean
I'd love an updated on of that guy
https://wargamesatlantic.com/products/skeleton-cavalry-and-chariots Oh hey look, Tomb Kings

ngl this fucks
liek i know iron warriors more or less made obliterators
but i like how utilitarian yet chaosy these look
ooo iron warriors kataphrons
ngl discovering Hands can build an army around angry sword-and-board troops made me wish I had the time/energy/money to build another 30k army on top of the one I've barely started lol
love to see traditionally shooty vehicle guys lean into the techno-barbarism
that feel when the least loved legions/chapters are made really cool in the expensive secondary game
huh
Possessed?
Chaos Lord with Jumpack and Lightning Claws.
damn that's neat
as I was telling some friends I have very mixed feelings about that defunct lore
the weirdest part with it i feel is that its only like partially defunct?
also random but ngl im very into artic dino exodites ngl
https://www.reddit.com/r/Warhammer40k/comments/adhb5m/another_member_joins_my_arctic_medical_rescue/
these look really bloody good
im not sure why this thought took me so long to have but admech vs IW is a vibe to me ngl
like its almost mech vs mech but a little different so it doesnt feel like a rehash of the martian civil war lol
Is the general way to manage the nightbringer in the field just to avoid him in game?
Hit it with the biggest AT you have or kite
Cyberdemon rules: Shoot it until it dies
It has a relatively poor save but high toughness - that sounds like "spam me with lethal hits" to me
(the FNP makes it harder, but its still a pretty good thing to exploit)
yeah ngl looking at these side by side and im getting pretty sold on the idea of IW and admech fighting lol
just weirdly clean daemon tech vs gribbly as fuck imperial tech
Of course, AdMech mods are mostly out of devotion, yes they do grand boons, but is mostly for devotion, Arkhan Land always got stink eyes becuase his mods were internal and while heavily modded he looked human.
While IW mods are for efficience and efficience only
Hearing the marketing team of my job trying to come up with something up that is not "Industrial building speed" and ending up with "ULTRA construction" makes me think of Guilliman's sons building a house

The one true retirement plan option for ultramarines: construction
You think old enough ones get stuck with a desk job as an administrator?
Marines rarely get so old that they're not combat-capable.
They either die in combat or are wounded enough to get shoved in a dread.
It'd likely be a military position with political influence like "Warden of Ultima subsector 11.2" or whatever
I suppose there's ones who are injured enough to not be on the field but not so bad they get shoved in a dread who'd probably end up training new recruits tho.
But for ultramarines specifically that seems semi reasonable that some of them are sent to administration
But yeah as Slim says marines are basically in some combat adjacent position until death
Whether it be as an instructor, strategist, regional warden or honor guard position
Custodes are the only transhumans I can think of that retire and that's only when they see their performance go down by a barely discernable amount and even then still serve as spies and agents for other custodes.
Yeah the eyes of the emperor are still some ridiculous combatants, they're just compared to the standard of "fighting an endless daemon invasion" for their retirement metric
Retired custodes being spies is hilarious
It would be cool to see them as an option on the tabletop as a cheap(er) custodes infiltrator unit that was only 25-30pts per model instead of 40+ because they'd only have a misericordia and bolter with a 4+ save instead of armour and guardian weapon
I imagine they function more like assassins and spymasters coordinating things and stepping in when things get hairy rather than do any direct Intel gathering given the only way they'd be able to blend into normal society is somehow bulk up to look like an ogryn
Custodes can be stealthy, Valdor infiltrated a nobles estate in full armour, but they aren't built for blending in and info gathering
Retired Custodes being a thing by itself is amazing
Like, what would make a custodes retire?
When they start to slow down. They can tell when their getting worse
Ok that's fair, yeah
Still surprising they would actually acknowledge that and don't just go:
"NO! I can still do it! Send me to the hardest fight! And I will prove it!" and then die.
Being able to fail is poison for their reputation
I mean yes, but know you need to step down is a whole other thing
ANOTHER POINT TO THE BANANA BOYS LET'S GOOOOo
isn't there a common custodes test to attempt to infiltrate the palace? They can be stealth experts as i understand it
Yeah, after Alpharius almost assassinated the Emperor they kinda needed to step it up
More than that, they also kidnap CSMs, drop them in the Palace, and tell them to try
It was one of the first things Alpharius did after arriving in the palace for the first time
.
ok they are just doing it for fun at that point
And I imagine the CSM just gets mind obliterated and full of regret as they die if they stumble in Big E chambers too
It is basically for fun with that, yeah
I love it
"Let's grab that random World Eater and drop him in the middle of the palace to see how long he lasts before crying himself to sleep"
apparently also, the stuff kept by the custodes wardens is so important that they wont leave their posts even if the palace is under siege or has been breached
so important/so dangerous
There's some bad shit in the vault
Big E's fursuit from the XXI century
And an extremely embarassing photo of Malcador from some old X-mas party
Special unit idea I just had, not sure if it's more silly or cool: a Chapter's Reserve Company Captains acting as a command squad for the Chapter Master
Regarding Horus Heresy and the thousand sons, what does the magus upgrade do for the osirion contemptor dreadnought?
Not to mention he killed a custodes with a basic throwing knife
Primarchs are a level above custodes but yeah that's ludicrous
Like just his throwing power was enough to pierce the armour of a custodes with a knife he probably found in a hab kitchen because he was deep undercover as a dead blue collar worker
I think it was a way too to show how overpowered a Primarch is in level of a common man, even beyond a custodes and Marine
Or just
"Look how stealthy and powerful Alphy is"
Right but I think he could of probably killed the custodes by throwing a rock at him to the same effect
Maybe
Tho a Custodes had killed a Ogryn with a pebble once
Did a "no big centerpiece" speed freekz list
blood games i think
back when Alpharius was still living in Terra, he did a thing to try and show the weaknesses in the emperor's defences, he got to the point where he could have killed the emperor(proving his point that their security was flawed) and they started doing the blood games after that
Didn't a custodes tackled him before he could fire?
Also yeah, custodes before Big E Big Sit even fough against him to train
Gotta make sure the charge can protect themself if the guards go down.
Absolutely
He did but spoilers for the book: ||he had hacked a big mean turret before hand and still had the controller for it, he went beep beep and the turret took aim at the emperor's vessel and the cusotdian was like "maybe you do have a point||
ooooh awesome
the Alpharius book is a fun read
Also i wonder if life on Terra was good at that time
I would say "Depends on your social class" entirely
It definitely took a sharp decline during and after the siege of terra
Of course Land has a monkey
Who wouldn't want a monkey?
I think it was alright with all things considered around the thunder warrior time
A more civilized mad max vibe
Yeah true
knight animation neat
also im trying not to read too hard into the fact they are doing a loremaster on krieg lol
they're a popular regiment, end of the day, with a lot of interest pointed at em
i mean storm what i mean by not reading too much into it is connecting it over much to the various rumors saying were getting more plastic krieg lol
ok these fuck ngl
I’d love to see some new guard get love
ohhh gotcha
i still want new valhallans but im not waiting
new catachans i think is a big want, i forget are we getting those?
ive not heart rumors of it but it would make sense but who knows
like doing krieg makes the most sense in terms of profit and marketing ultimately
thats me with vostroyans. hell i made my napoleonic old guard just to scratch that itch lol
ooo
yeah true, new krieg would prolly sell the best
i was figuring since catachans survived into the dex they might have an update on the timeline
depending on how expansive the krieg are if they happen ill have to make a hard call on which models to base my old guard guard on lol
Thoughts on this horus heresy list?
Legion: death guard
Allegiance: loyalist
Rite of war: armored spearhead
HQ:
master of armour (sicarian tank w/ searchlights and 3x heavy alchem flamers)
Troops:
2x2 predator talons
3x10 tactical Marines w/rhinos
Elites:
1x10 cataphractii Terminators w/ spartan land raider (two terminators have heavy alchem flamers)
1x10 tartaros Terminators w/ spartan land raider (two Terminators have heavy alchem flamers)
Heavy support:
1x10 heavy support squad w/ missile launchers and rhino
1x2 sicarian squadron
3000/3000 points
In short it's an armored list with 3 sicarians, 4 predators, 4 rhinos, 2 land raider spartan, and sixty infantry (30 tactica, 10 cataphractii, 10 tartaros, and 10 heavy support.)
not wallace i have a question. This whole time when you were pitching loyalist versions of chapters, did you mean HH and it just went over my hed?
ok whew lol
truly my eternal conundrum lol
id still use the fur hat heads with krieg to be clear it was just sorta impossible to edit the head onto that krieg impcat pose without it looking janky lol
Theres a pretty good kit from Atlantic that works for Vostryians
thats literally where im getting the head from lol
i dont like the bodies or guns and its easy to source just the heads lol
Hows the scaling?
also im sticking to my funny napoleonic old guard in space cuz ive grown fond of the idea of guard fighting nids while singing the onion song
via eyeballing the heads and newer cadian kits pretty decent
Vostoyan kriegers?
itll probably take some fussing with the models with clipeprs and a knife but still doable considering ive saved refs of people doing it with the new cadians lol
That was my big issue making necromunda kitbashes mainline 40k scale is pretty wonky
Oh those look rad
well its more some models are old and yet to be scaled to the modern scale also necromunda models are somewhat scaled larger than 40k
like as sorta a design conceit choic in the necromunda model range lol
That’s true but I’ve also found necromunda models to be more realistically proportioned in terms of hands and feet
thats in part due the size difference. also how realistic proportions are on 40k varies wildly with how old the kit is
cuz prior to the more modern like computer sculpted stuff it relied super hard on heroic scale proportions for models
Just me or does that Cypher look like they have a femme head swap?
its possible
if it is itd have to be an sob head i think
only range i know of from gw with hooded fem head with bionic eye
becomes a full psyker with a core psychic discipline
Thanks
Yeah it looks the the right shape but I can't think of what kit it would be from. Could just be the angle
i think it might be the cannoness or the sacresants
Oh right they do have some hoods
well you can give the whole squad of sacresants hoods lol
You know I don't care much for most SoB heads on Astartes bodies but hoods in DA is always fitting
(it's just that they have such a distinct look it's hard to not read them as Sororitas rather than a girl Astartes)
tbh for uncovered heads for lady marines the stormcast and lov are the best bet honestly
Stormcast seem solid yeah

I personally am always gonna want the lil earmuff things most Astartes have but there don't seem to be many options for that
statuesque miniatures does a set like that but they're not the same
but still looks good having a bit of underhelmet
I've always liked the look of those
they're great
Even just a little of the piping around the neck is good tbh, and you can do that with greenstuff
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/warhammer40k/images/8/88/UFFSr35.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/1000?cb=20161116031526 what is the source of this pic? I wanted a higher res one
its the cover from one of the HH books
thank ya
yo thank you kindly!
look like this was the specific book
Why do they have random dancers
for dancin
pretty sure its statues in different poses lol
i still find the fact the custodes on the rampart are running torwards it
It could go either way really
like are yall fuckers about to try to jump on it
Yes!
also i think the knight animation has a femc hell yeah
"I can't beat the shit out of you without getting closer."
lady knight pilots kick ass
which anim? 👀
this
niiice thank ya
adeptus titanicus?
to be fair, if they manage to get inside of it, they could deal some damage to the crew
ngl I've never even noticed it was a fight. thought it was a parade or somethin
same
yeah you have to like see that the people on the rampart are panicking and the custodes are like running forward with weapons ready lol
which is like a really small part of the pieces overall image lol
honestly like
whats the plan
when you have a spear with a bolter on it
when the walking gun castle is coming
you gonna shoot it?
with your spear bolter?
Boarding actions
Jump good
They all trained with that jungle man from Samurai Jack
just like 20 custodes hurtling through the air doing long jumps
hoping void shields just set them on fire like wazdakka
If I wanted a very fantasy-flavored Militarum list, what would be a good lore reason for a planet to have ogryns and ratlings?
Nah they are going to dark souls it
Planet got settled by various regiments too destroyed by whatever they fought to be called back or merged, functionally wiped out as far as the administratum was concerned. So they got left to their own devices as the front passed them by
That's a good hook in my book
Void shields are safe to move through slowly generally
They’re sort of like dune shields
well apparently a motorcycle at terminal velocity gets set on fire going through, would a custodes launching themselves at speed? find out off panel
Tbf an ork motorcycle at max speed might be approaching very high speed and might be very very flammable
Ork vehicle probably caught on fire incidentally while traveling through the void shields
Void shields use the Warp right? Pretty amazing it doesn't end up worse for everyone near it
They’re seemingly like the most stable warp tech around
Priming white and working to black is a pain in the ass but the lightning gonna look so good
I do not know why I am surprised that the Lexicanum article has an incredible range of effects and power attributed to void shields lol
iirc in gaunt's ghosts some people get cut in half by a void shield activating while they're in the way
and in that book the shields were solid
the one where they're on not-bespin
Those were static implacement shields I think that's different from the moving ones vehicles use
Which need to have a low speed passthrough so the vehicles can walk or drive or whatever
hihi i got a box of terminators thrown at my head
so now i have. so many terminators to build
Void shields also seem to differ on whether or not you can teleport through them, or if they are bidirectional or not
ooooo
Question
is it more cadian to have many leman russ
or to have baneblade?
tried to make a Cadian themed force is why i ask
i worry maybe i went too much basilisk
but big guns never tire
sorta random but i rewatched the broke lance animations trailer and man what is it recently with so much like secondary warhammer media doing nurgle
Nurgle is very visually striking.
I think all the gods are
yeah like every god is visually striking and honestly in some ways especially in super grimey 3d nurgle pops the least due to just naturally blending in with all the grim surrounding it lol
like idk give weird constantly shifting tzeentch demon stuff or weird slaanesh stuff
or hell vibrant blood splash khorne stuff with lots of fire
like i get that nurgle is the loss of pristiness and "honor tm" or something. but idk seeing some weird slaaneshy knights and a keeper who are like this weird pervesion of the knight virtues or something would do more than stink decay boys yet again.
like ultimately im excited for a cool knight animations. it just feels like sorta bizarre how much stuff recently has been nurgle.
maybe thats just sorta the side effect of me getting into the tides one after another though
on an entirely different note it would be kinda neat for when the do emperors children and fulgrim its also IW with perty
as sorta rehas of perty kicking the shit out of fulgrim
I think its just a Nurgle Era for whatever reason
Like how much was Khorne stuff like a decade ago
I am definitely getting over it though
Esp since I think Tzeentch and Slaanesh have the most unique designs
Tzeentch era soon with Space Marine 2 hopefully
i mean honestly i dont remember there being ever a super big khorne era
other than i guess models?
Its kinda always
like there was mark of chaos
Chaos undivided is indistinguishable from Khorne just about
Dawn of War 1 was big on Khorne.
thats not really accurate at all to me ngl
Most players are gonna look at word bearers and see world eaters
To the point we had a Khornate Sorceror in Dawn of War's story.
Blood For The Blood God is phrases of all time for a reason
okk but they arent eatesrs and thats not the main kind of undivided
i mean its a well known phrase due to dow1 having great unit quips
its not even the only well known line from that game
Yeah that was a pretty notable one
All the aligned units were Khorne except Horrors, khorne sorc in the plot, World Eaters for the WA campaign
i forget if noise marines were a thing in the base game ngl
They were in DoW2
Most of Warhammer has been Khorne Era in general is the thing, it just feels like background radiation
i mean idk if i agree with that still tbh
So now that its Nurgle Era it sticks out
i thnk its also like allot of the nurgle stuff has been almost carbon copies of each other and sorta boring usage of nurgle since its felt like just a way to use zombie models lol
The bad guy of every Dawn of War game was Khorne
Ulkair changed that for one expansion and then it stopped
really? that extra weird considerring i swear there was a thing with a great unclean one in 2
I think the only daemons in that game even
Oh, I guess I just didn't remember
Though it sounds like they weren't in it for long
There's like one elevator segment where you fight themn
i think its also not helped that allot of the nurgle stuff has been in grimey as fuck renditions of stuff
But yeah Ulkair is immediately upstaged by Kyras
so like its like throwing puke on top of a pile of mud lol
i shall say that hammer and bolter and the blacktalon series do nurgle good
like unironically i really liked the weird fruit thing with the blacktalon series
on another note are there any hedonite warbands mentioned by name in aos?
Honestly I thought with agrons resurgence, we were in currently in the khorne era
It looks like a smile
Is that from the 40k gacha game?
Warhammer 40k Battlesecttor
People say is the most accurate representation of the tabletop game in videogame form
models are pretty
I'm thinking about getting the various race expansions
youd have thought lol
but i think vashtorrs gotten more in lore text screen time than him outside of i think angron got a new book?
well he was the focuse of one of the arks of omen books as well
and did his whole murderwave thing
i think that was his big thing so far
I-
I don't play the main tabletop what does that mean?
I only touched kill team 2e once and got too shy to play again
"The machine-spirits in my servo arms have become...snarky, brother."
lol
I love it
That's my favorite mst3k character
I was gonna go with Gypsy at first but there wasn't a good gif of her

Does the lady inquisitor like Cain?
Yes! ||They eventually bang||
What kind of spoiler is that
beeg? Minor?
uhn... mmh...
I would put 'minor'
OH YEAH
Amen
no
Yes

I just realized those twin tails are not hair and have wax seals which is a big "ow that had to hurt and is gonna suck later" lol
this fucks Ngl
Close-topped basilisk?
Good alternative model to the open top basilisk
Yeah it's for solars
Ye. I remember the Kriegers having a close-topped Basilik at one time.
Holy sit it has interior details
Ngl I might just use the solar vehicles for my guard
They fit their Napoleonic fancy vibe
Works if you're doing Vostrayan inspired.
Yeeeeee!
also a space marine basilisk that uses a rhino chassis
They kinda are but French
God, there's some cool conversions out there.
while the mars-solar pattern the auxilia use a leman russ chassis
https://gyazo.com/b68c4ec5c5b1606eff13f605b3fd1e06 do the beige caps with the unwinged skulls mean anything?
Probably for tank commanders?
or commanding in general
"6x Cadian Cadet heads, with caps bearing a wingless skull" from item description
The side exhaust there is pretty funny it’s so clustered
TFW you cant give GW your money because marines cant use basilisks :
also only me or did DA just get the most generic of combat patrols?
It is pretty generic yeah
Incredibly generic
it at least comes with 2 upgrade sprues
But hey, at least it's a good army base?
I guess, unless you plan to do a raven/deathwing army
I think they're meant to be the new conscript equivalent
That or to make homebrew regiments
honestly that just seems like a solid start collecting box for ANY chapter
which seems... maybe not the point
though out of curiosity, i see 1 of hte vets with a shield. Can you field mixed units like that with individual bladeguards in a non bladeguard unit?
think the other 2 guys just have the shields on their back? 🤔
yeah honestly its a great box it just doesn't feel like dark angels
Yeah, it's a pretty posable kit in that respect
I think the unit picks are all pretty appropriate for Dangels but it feels odd to not use any of the unique ones they just rolled out. Also a little annoying for the captain not not have any gravis units to attach to in a proper game.
I mean hey it's Dangles
They're pretty cut and dry
"Regular Marines but plasma" 99% of the time
"standard guys, plasma guys, knightly guys, and a big swordy leader" are all pretty fitting for them, yeah
the 9E box for 'em was some intercessors, some inceptors, a dreadnaught and a chaplain, which all also feel appropriate
I like the whole-hog becloaked knights we have available now but a bulk of the chapter is still mostly generic SM with certain tactical proclivities
in general hellblasters are also just excellent generalist pick ups with an army getting off its feet
I wonder if I might prefer it with heavy intercessors for a little more synergy
I do like the idea of the descendants of clone laborers for megacorps unfortunately carrying forward the deep flaws of that hypercapitalistic upbringing into the deep future, keeps with the tragedy/satire themes of 40k.
not @ing on reply because this Is a 4 day old comment.
that new basilisk really makes me want to do a tank company now
i did a cadian themes list earlier, i was unsure if 3 basilisks and a baneblade was too many basilisks
but my logic is that stuff might hide from the bb
and the basilisks will punish them for it
really sad that the medusa dont have 40k rules, really like the short barrel look
they sort of do
they got a carriage battery
Wahapedia: Warhammer 40,000 10th edition, Astra Militarum — Medusa Carriage Battery (unit characteristics, wargear options, wargear profiles, abilities, unit composition, stratagems, enhancements, points cost, led by/leader and keywords).
It's not really capitalist like at all
They're hyper materialist socialists tbh
Like everyone part of a league is freely given the stuff they need more or less
true, sadly not mounted on a tank (and £100 on the store
)
I don't believe in the words "Too many Basilisks"
i figured anything that didn't want to be in the baneblades los could take a bit of damage and have their movement shut down
a fair trade
meanwhile the cadian shock troops push in to take objectives
cool hair
i do still love the idea of a baneblade centerpiece to guard armies
i know they arent competetive like many larger models becaus of difficulty negotiating maps

Huh. don't know what to make of that.
Like they seemingly don't even have currency of any kind
And have weird giant pseudo unions that also exert political presence in the council based governments
Like the lov may unironically be the faction most comparable to the Soviets in some ways
Which is ironic considering the nonsense fans have stapled onto tau
They are capitalist in that their society is built around the accruement and exploitation of people/things for profit at least.
Resources can be profit.
It's never said they want that they literally want the materials
I think the "capitalist" vibe that people get is the economic mode around ceaseless growth, but I think that's not actually the sole domain of capitalism
Yeah people conflate capitalism with exploitation and growth
In this context it's way more materialists than capitalist I feel
That's not equivilent descriptors
It's like if I said "I wouldn't call them socialist, they're more Stoics."
I like to think different Leagues and even Holds probably have different economic models
I mean as I already said for a full label it's hyper materialist socialists imo
Their art has some cyberpunk vibes so it would be a shame to not give them a little capitalism, as a treat
Like literally its in lore stated they give people stuff when they need it and etc
I mean you can do cyberpunk without capitalism. I find the idea of that sorta stuff with more socialist structures fascinating.
profit is theft
votann afaik don't have like
a class who is exploited for the enrichment of another
yeah but they don't pay the people they shoot anything at all
That's more... imperialism isn't it? Or colonialism?
I'm not in any way arguing the votann are good lol
To go to new and exciting places, kill the people there and exploit their natural resources to exhaustion
just that it's accurate that they're not really capitalist
But like, they're much more "good" (for themselves) Anarcho capitalists
The only real government is a council of private corporations and entities
Besides a religion/theocracy based around an AI
Socialist implies they have a unified body that pools all resources together and then distributes them as needed.
Which they don't
tbf none of these words really have singular definitions
I think the hitch here is that Warhammer lore doesn't often dig into the means of production and such
but I don't think I'd call the leagues socialist either yeah
If we're talking about forms of government we do at least have like
examples of what most things these things are called do
Iirc each clan (I forget the name) is largely autonomous right?
Same to be clear on my stance lol
And even come into conflict with each other at times?
Yeah
Exploiting a people to the point of genocide
I mean, the Imperium would also happily do this.
Yes they do. They have a council for that. At like ever level too
Socialist does not imply that
Socialist implies that the workers own their means of production (of which may or may not be managed by the state)
which they dont
who does
Craftworld Eldar
oh shit
The kin literally hold all their resources in common
eldar own all the private property in the leagues??
Oh
Like if you need something you're given it
I thought you meant "who does" like "who cares" and asking who in general in 40k does
dunno how I got that read tbh
Like that's the whole point of kindreds
But yeah all property is owned by Guilds which are essentially private corporations
They're like large politically unified not clans/families lol
No it isn't
but if the guilds are made up of the workers that work that property
then that's just legal trivia
The guilds just have say in like production standards and reps on the councils
They're like basically very influential labor unions mixed with medieval guilds
Like the main political bodies are the leagues which are made up of multiple kindreds. Which functionally sorta shakes out kinda like the ussr with the various Soviets. Not one to one but it's comparable imo
honestly, Votann are almost feudal in terms of governmental structure
I mean. Ehh? They have no lords
Like their political leaders are like voted for sorta
was thinking more like each concurrent social structure starting at kindreds pledging allegiance to the next step up
That's what the Soviets are in the ussr
like each kindred to a hold, each hold to a league, each league led by a Votann
Like the ussr is composed of multiple Soviets(as in the geographical politically entity) which swear loyalty to the party
Also the votann don't rule the leagues
I love decentralized power structures
And a league can have multiple
Like ultimately votann are like highly respected like advisors lol
a votann is probably closer to property than a person ultimately
not in the way it's treated by the kin
Well it's a full AI
It's an artificial being version of Google lol
powerful? for lack of a better word?
they are definitely people don't get me wrong
but in terms of how the league economy is organised
they're more like The Land in feudalism than The Lord
O Ancestor Core, are acorns bad for dogs
CALCULATING
The answer then takes several centuries
I can kinda see it?
I just think feudalism doesn't fit the leagues well as a comparative ultimately
no not really
Like with the ussr comparative the votann is like the holistic idea of "the party"
Feudalism is over in the Imperium of Man tbh
Seen as core guidance and revered sorta
Absolutely
on an interplanetary basis maybe but there are tons of feudal worlds in the imperium
I think they mean "over there" not "it's all done"
The Imperium is feudal from the ground up
"the Emperor is less a head of state and more infrastructure" is a sentence that appeared in my head earlier today
This is an absolute fact.
i wonder if even votan tech, which probably bears closer resemblence to DAOT sophistication, seems basic to necrons
I mean yes
Yep
Like daot tech was great but still was way below peak eldar and cron tech
i also wonder if there are eldar out there just like "damn we had so much cool shit" or the drukharii just check their vaults every so often and go "look at all this cool shit we just cant use"
We get necrons calling out Ironkin as crude and basic in a story.
"Damn we had so much cool shit" is indeed the basis of basically the entirety of CWE society
noticed now that IG tank squads are gone
in normal 40k? yeah
so I guess tank companies must be less viable now...
i wouldn't necessarily say that, armor is in general reasonably powerful rn
and every kind of leman russ has its own datacard
you can do entire armies of just leman russ
main issue you run into is a lack of OC
and navigating maps efficiently
Don't Lemans gets objective secured or some special rule?
not that i remember
and tank commanders only being able to give a order to a single tank per turn
Lemans were horrifically overpowered in 9th so
It's less "less viable" and closer to "balanced"
well, they got horrifically juiced in 9th as a bandaid to the entire rest of hte roster being bad
but in 10th you can absolutely field full tank armies
and do well
just gotta keep in mind your limitations
inso far as movement, melee, and OC
ill make one now actually
any requests on whats in it?
maybe fit in a malcador infernus ?
That's why you got to take the horse rider man. He gets to give two orders to whoever he wants
Tempted to brainstorm an early WW1 style guard list of just guardsmen, mortars, and massed artillery.
WW1 before tanks came about.
oh my poor infernus, you sure got nerfed from 9 to 10th
i dunno if wyverns were permissable
but itd be to pressure infantry playing the LoS game
and i went with loads of heavy bolters for volume fire
Armor is in general dummy good in this edition, which has pushed everybody to making sure they have dedicated antitank so you’ll run into counters relatively often but yeah tanks work just bring some objective sitters for after
but essentially, the malacdor and demolisher shove up the mid, the normal leman russ pressure enemy objective holders, the vanquisher targets tanks, the executioner vultures, both tank commanders generally target infantry
shock troops back line like hell
I haven’t seen a necron list without 3 LHD and a void dragon this edition lmao
twas a request for da list
I see
Time for trench warfare
Death Krops Marshal, Warlord
Death Korps Marshal
Cadian castellan
2x10 cadian shock troops, grenade launcher on one for each squad
2x10 death korps of krieg, grenade launcher on one for each squad
3x10 infantry squad, grenade launcher on one for each squad
3x Earthshaker carriage battery
2x Medusa carriage battery
2x2 field ordnance battery, bombast field guns
3x3 heavy weapon squads, mortars
3x basilisk
2000/2000
1405 points of artillery and still have 70 infantry to fall back on.
Army will be made of paper thin material but your indirect fire and artillery output will possibly make some opponents hesitate.
maps just gotta reflect the trenches and have a lot of good cover for the infantry and weapon emplacements
remember to pet your necrolith dragon before sleep
Or just go with the classic turtle for a bit until artillery softens up the enemy enough for infantry to surge ahead.
Leman russes are just oc 3 this edition, which is standard for a tank their size
like the same as a pred
so no troop russ
:T
they generally rely on having enough guns to kill things off of stuff rather than contesting the objective with OC
I call this list: The Price of a Mile or Why Wallace can't be allowed to play guards.
Death Krops Marshal, Warlord
2x Cadian castellan
5x10 cadian shock troops, grenade launcher on one for each squad
4x10 death korps of krieg, grenade launcher on one for each squad
6x10 infantry squad, grenade launcher on one for each squad
3x3 heavy weapon squads, mortars
2x3 rapier laser destroyer batteries
3x10 Death rider squadrons
2x scout sentinels with lascannons
2000/2000
I learned nothing from unending swarm nids
i do quite like putting the executioner autocannons on the commanders
gets a lot of shots out when killed
and decently generalist
Don't the executioners also allow the army to have 1 more ap to whatever it shot at?
the whole army? nah
but the executioner leman gets bonuses to hit against half strength enemies
the plasma cannon is a good pick for commanders too
because of the ap
Exterminator has the autocannons:
In your Shooting phase, after this model has shot, select one enemy unit hit by one or more of those attacks made with its exterminator autocannon. Until the end of the phase, each time a friendly Astra Militarum unit makes an attack that targets that enemy unit, improve the Armour Penetration characteristic of that attack by 1. The same enemy unit can only be affected by this ability once per phase.
oh thats to the leman russ not the weapon iirc
so the commander with it doesn't get that
the commander gets the shoot on death instead
the exterminator is a worthy addition though, for the extra AP
so this isn the warcom article today about total war...
who knows
maybe the team just eventually got murdered by new execs coming in or something
and people were probalby reassigned to work on plus i bet
mm
I mean, makes sense to me - a fair majority of people are gonna want the old factions focused on and updated first
i mean it makes way less sense when the first announced the project cathay and kislev would be a focus
and we were shown concept art
hell theres a map of cathay for old world that just exists for no apparent reason now lol
Sounds like TW3 being pushed back against made em kinda gun shy
ill be real that still sucks and just looks bad imo
Because that announcement was 100% them riding on the game being a big success, but the controversies CA's gone through haven't filled them with confidence
That's business!
i mean most of business sucks and looks bad
That's exactly what I'm saying Unde
like ngl im not sure the point youre making cuz saying something like this like that just engenders even more skepticism in old world
fair enough i guess?
I'm giving a reason for why they would say what they said
Its really that simple
It's believable yet baffling
I mean its kinda like how everyone is confused by the lack of epic over legions imperialis
but the truth is probably just that the heresy team are the ones that wanted to make a 6/8mm wargame
as opposed to any conspiracy to hate xenos
idk
internal company politics filtered through incredibly opaque PR is just always mystifying I think
I started listening to the infinite and the divine, this is hilarious
I love it
Spy v spy stuff
Or Tom and Jerry
Its sublime, I love it
of course im seeing you around
I think it's just someone with similar fashion sense
anyone with kharadron fashion sense always has great fashion sense lol
ayoo waddup
high priest "on foot"
Sup , started reading Lancer now i joined the other 3 Lancer players from my entire country
Damn these skeletons are cool
awesome! welcome
Can you play as teh Skaven OR the Lizardman?
Lizards yes I believe but I don't think skaven have rules yet
Damn
Ah well Lizard shall do, how is the system gameplay wise?
also
The webway. Mankind is ascending, Ra. Humanity is taking a great developmental step, evolving into a psychic race
Then treat your psykers better, big E
I mean, I still 100% understand being afraid of psykers. Not even for purposes of Daemons. Enslavers are a thing.
oh yeah but , like
Don't torture them and make them pass by agonizing stuff ?
There was that time big E ouright outlawed the use of Psychic stuff """As a test""" right?
Well it was more to deny magic existed lol
Cuz the imperial "truth" maintained magic wasn't real
I'm beginning to think that Big E was actually kind of an idiot
I mean yes
Due to a variety of preestablished things causing issues with the HH books he's been written to be sorta unintentionally hilariously incompetent
Like when I in the past said sigmar was smarter and savvier than him it wasn't much of a joke
Like in terms of in text events it's just kinda accurate imo lol
Like its this thing of you have to write how the iom came to be while being founded by a hyper intelligent super being
Big E's problem is that he thinks he can enforce everything.
"Sure this could be bad, but I'm here to guide things along in the proper way"
He never, for a moment, thinks that his plans are falliable.
Which is a terrible mistake when one of your enemies is Tzeentch.
Also the worst communication skills probably ever lol
Also that, for sure.
Absolutely, he should talk more with his sons and less with his Custodes
And he should had killed Angron
Like
Why the hell would you give a huge army for someone you know very fucking well it's mentally unstable and a murderous rage filled person?
While he was directly with them and with the custodes having them on a leash
Because yes
Also, comes down to a fact that even Big E can't stop from being relevant.
Best choice
Space is big
With how much education he gives to the Custodes they would be better leading the World Eaters than Angron
And I do love Angron (from how tragic he is)
If he was willing to slow down his expansion plans, sure, install someone else.
But he still has kids to find.
Or at least not treat said person like dogshit to such provocational degrees lol
Like angron is capable of leading and being good even with the nails
Because he does do good and lead well for a while.
Not so much when you reduce everything he loved to ash
But also Big E did a thing that Angron will never let go.
Yup
And that good part of Angron is why he will never let that go.
Like ah yes side with your sons slavers and kill his friends
Surely this shall have no consequences
Big E forgets to act like the immortal god he is sometimes.
Ultimately he's a petty warlord and acts it imo
Yuuuup
Yeeeeeah
He's falling back on old habits.
he did really bad with Angron
And Angron, even if he lived the least of all the primarch, was a great way for Big E to show any care and love for the Primarchs
But no
Just throw him under the bus and act surprised when he betrays you
Then there's Petty Perty.
I'm not sure Big E actualy doing things there would have helped Pert.
Petty Perty would need a lot of positive encouragements and allow him to do side projects
Like build that bath house he always wanted
Indeed.
Perty does great in war, but he would have loved peacetime.
But instead, it's Dorn who gets taken from the front.
Like
Big E could used 100 years to make sure his sons are all well with him and THEN go back to the webway and not just
"Ok everyone is here, Horus, don't fuck this up, PEACE"
But that would require slowing down his expansion.
Yeeeeah and he wanted that expansion done for yesterday
He was already behind schedule, yeah.
Now he's 11k years more behind schedule
Again, masterful play by the Gods of Chaos to make sure he doesn't just reincarnate again.
And with 1 less Malcador
Agreed, Chaos won that one for sure
The entire Horus Heresy was done just to get that.
Everything else that happens is just a nice side benefit.
Yeah, they never wanted Horus to win, they just wanted to cripple Big E enough and they did that perfectly
Couldn't have gone better for them.
I think the biggest L they ever got in 40k was Nurgle garden being burned, aside from that
Chaos is winning a lot
Yuuuup
And now they just need the Traitor Legion to never actually get their full win of killing the Big E
Which, in all honestly, they are already set for that, since the CMS do so MUCH in-fighting it would make a Skaven blush
I think their biggest treat at the moment is Perturabo and his new best """friend"""
Yeeeeaaaaah
The CSM are largely there to enforce a baseline shittiness across the galaxy.
Pretty much
And I say we won't be seeing anything about Perty evolution in... the next5 years or so
Which in all honestly, as a corrupted Primarch? Good for him
Because all of the corrupted Primarch atm at non characters or one note
Perty gets to be a fascinating character still.
Exactly, while , like
What is Magnus status atm?
Sulking on his throne, iirc
Fulgrin?
Who knows
Mortarion is gleefully cackling about gifts like some corpse-bloated Santa with a scythe.
Yeah, perty is doing pretty good all things considered
Lorgar also gets his own personal hell thanks to the Imperial Creed
PPPFFF That's hilarious
The Imperial Creed is a hilarious punishment for Lorgar, and the Gods of Chaos are probably laughing their asses off about it.
Imagine every time you go to battle, you get to hear people quote shit you said at you as they try to beat you.
And it's all the edgy teen shit you wrote that you hate.
That gets to be Lorgar's life now.
That, and running from Corvus.
For being the first Primarch to turn, the Gods of Chaos have gone "LOL, LMAO" to Lorgar.
Lorgar's hinted at having finally left his tower after Corvus beat his ass, but that hasn't translated into a new model or stories.
Good for him
Though, all the chaos gods seem to screw with the primarchs sworn to them
Which does point to him being the next traitor primarch to get a model, or at least the most likely. But GW might go "nah lol we're bringing in Fulgrim for the fuck of it"
They screw with all the traitor primarchs tbh
Good ol' Chaos
Wish there were more non-astartes champions of chaos
Like some rogue trader falling to Slannesh and deciding to make their life the greatest buccaneering story ever told
So, non-astartes, non-demon?
Yeah the majority of chaos worshippers are normal humans
I mean ehhh
It's more we just are never shown non marine chaos in 40k
Like fantasy and aos are filled to the brim with that stuff lol
tangential, but listening to more infinite and divine, and something i kinda like is that despite orks being an opponent that loses by not being the protagonists; the novel depicts them as being taken seriously by beings as egotistical as necrons. Which I appreciate
more or less, we do have Darktide and some Kill Teams now

You think if Khorne had a cat
Would he give his cat a tiny throne made out of skulls?
Absolutely
cat skulls
In HH can an HQ with a retinue squad still join another squad as well? For example if I have a cataphractii centurion with cataphractii retinue can he still join a 10 man squad of cataphractii?
i too do not get it
It's Cadia
a planet that used to be the first line of defense against chaos incursions out of the eye of terror c:
primaris psyker
nope
until his retinue dies anyway
Thanks for clarifying for me.
ah ive never seen that before
the effect is lost on me, but thanks for the explanation
anyone got a 40k army theme to throw at me?
MadMax list, perfect
I don't think this is a good post for this server, and flies pretty close to the sun so to speak with regards to the no war crimes jokes rule.
Okey doke, sorry
👍
Honestly I feel like the orky list could work as far as threat overload strategies
Only thing is I think it has trouble with heavy armor
But I think the army could effectively quarantine armor on their table side while keeping objectives
The main vector for AT are the killsaw nobs, but they're comparatively fragile
Working on a "thematic" list for HH imperial fists but I can't help but feel like I don't have enough of something and I can't place my finger on what I am missing that might make this better.
What have you got?
You're telling me the Nurgle logo has been a dick and balls this entire time?

Always has been
which app is this?
What's wrong with Gerard
ty
Just the closet is safer IRL
how was the game? decent opponent despite the score differential?
Yeah he just messed up turn 2
Dropped his load in a corner deepstrike
Allowed me to herd the ball of threat and
And pick his army apart
He also fell for the ghostkeel bair
Which is fair like I never know whether its worth it to go for one or not
2905/3000 points
HQ
Cataphractii Praetor, teleport strike, and storm shield
Elites
10x cataphractii with shields, teleport strike, and 2 have illiastrus assault cannons
2x5 tartaros with shields and one assault cannon each
Troops
2x10 breachers with a augury scanner
2x10 phalanx wardens with rhinos
2x20 tactical Marines with bayonets and augury scanner
Heavy Support
10x heavy support squad with missile launchers
2x vindicators
defensive shield wall with guns and durability was the idea bug something doesn't feel right and can't find a good way to fill the remaining points
I have one elite slot open so I can get one. If I got two with the same slot do both attach to thr same squad or can I split them?
all the apothecaries go to different squads
I don't see the sangyr mazyn as an option for IF
Making sure so that is two
I think I'll add them to the warders
Also I forgot to say I gave the praetor a shield and powerfist which is now that solarite gauntlet to make the list an even 3000
Trying to toy with a few list ideas among multiple legions to see which I like best: thousand sons, Alpha Legion, Iron Warriors, Imperial Fists
Apothecaries make big tactical blobs even harder to get off of points
I might replace the scanners with vexes tho
Besides the suzerain and fulmentartus, what are some good units to take with Alpha Legion's rewards of treachery?
Oh?
Unless you're real concerned about intercepting, Tacticals don't benefit much from scanners, but they do appreciate defenses against getting chased off points
I'm not an expert tho
bolters don't do an awful lot against the things that trigger interceptor generally
I see
Also they don't benefit from the night fighting effect
Thinking about HH, is the main appeal of Heavy Support Squads their cheapness? I got some more squads to build and wonder if it'd be worth doing a HSS with missile launchers
But could just as well fill up my existing squads with More Tactical Guys
they are wildly cheap
and they can be upgraded with stuff like Master of Signals
and they can return fire/overwatch/interceptor with their heavy weapons
Word
I have like a whole other age of darkness box unbuilt so I'm just dreaming what I could use all those marines for
Gotta finish painting up my Deldar though
I have a launcher squad for their versatility and aesthetics, but they're close to a "jack of all trades master of none" situation. Big lascannon squads are widely considered overpowered
I am kinda warming to Iron Havocs autocannons a little but in general missiles being jack of all trades is my general preference.
Autocannons are also flexible but it comes down to taste
Weren't Iron Havocs made into legends units? Or are they still usable, they just won't get dedicated models?
Here's the best part
In Horus Heresy, all Legends units are legal in any context
It's just a model thing
Also like how HH DG can be clean looking and not gross like in 40k. That's my opinion at least.
HH DG fans can be very vocal about their distaste for tentacles and belly-mouths lol
The bone white and desaturated green is a great combo
I like it a lot more honestly, the white is a great canvas for the decay to begin creeping onto
trying to decide if i was doin spirit host themed list for aeldari if a wrathknight is warranted
cause thas a lot of points
that could be more wraithlords or wraithguard
de nurgled plague marines all look amazing too
Oh those are neat
Ngl I'm fine with the gribble but something about these somewhat cleaner ones is a vibe
I think it's because they scratch my chaos warrior itch
In that like the chaos isn't hyper overt
Cuz that's one of my issues sometimes with some chaos models
A big part of the appeal for me is how mismatched the armor is, like look at those backpacks
While tidier than even vanilla chaos Astartes, their base designs are still more varied
I do like how varied they are
The sculpts also look pretty good in hh era DG colors
i feel like you could do some pretty nice scrungly normal space marines using clean nurgle marines
just with changing up the colors
The flat green just looks too clean to me idk
Ngl I'm sorta neuron activated by this
Like 40king up chaos warrior would be peak for me Ngl
I wonder if anyone have done the opposite
Reading through the HH legends again, I just realised that the Excindio Battle Automata's Kill-switch can specifically only be taken by Dark Angels, so if it's selected as Reward for the Alpha Legion, they'd have no way to kill it remotely if it goes haywire
Honestly that would be so goddamn funny to take, fuck it take the three that the AL Rite of War gives you, let chaos reign as you unleash tech-horrors you have no way of subduing
That's a great narrative angle lol
Not an option at least in battlescribe
With rewards of treachery should those units be painted as AL or whatever their original legions were?
people started doing this like 20ish years ago to make truescale marines and it whipped then as much as it still does
it genuinely took so little effort to turn those chaos warrior bodies into believable space marines that were actually closer to how big they should be next to guardsmen
don't get me wrong still a solid amount of work but not as bad as like, cutting and adding material to space marine bits to make arms and legs longer
just to me it looks so much better but im also a chaos warrior stan
like this looks like a space reaver of chaos
here to burn and pillage in the name of the dark gods
like i unironicaly kinda wish csm looked more like this
instead of like just spikier loyalists
hell id probalby bue pretty into just butting chaos warriors heads on csm bodies too
I don’t get it
Forever sad that you can't put Iron Priests on Wolves
Just lets them be a much bigger present on the board
Personally I'm planning to paint my Angels Tears in the AL scheme, I even replaced the heads with AL helmets. The way I see it, they've stolen the unique equipment for their purposes
Aw nuts, you're right, they're not available because they don't have the Legion trait :(
These damned Abominable Intelligences just aren't team players
took me two days to build them in my free time
finally got rogue trader
a bit anoyed though that they send it in a box about 2/3rds too big...
Me needing a blood transfusion everytime i build berzerkers
My friend even made a sticker on whatsapp for me using that one pic of yamcha dead
haha
RIP Ice Bears and Terracotta Golems
wonder if they decided to delay kislev because of the war or if they basically had just done the sketches when they showed them off way back in march/may 2020 🤔
Could also be the overall response to Total War 3, which has been not as stellar as people hoped.
But also, GW is juggling a lot of games right now and there's supply issues. It might've been a practical choice of "we can't produce two whole new armies for a game revival we don't know how well it'll even do."
that is true
pondering for my chaos LoV to make one of each character dedicated to each chaos god, so now I just have to figure out which of iron-master and kâhl should be nurgle/slaanesh 🤔
Slaanesh one is obsessed with making the perfect beer.
Has the wild idea of distilling an entire world's worth of people into a single bottle of beer.

I've toyed with an on-again/off-again project of doing a Speed Freak force of "greaser" orks, aka 50's dragsters with leather jackets and pompadours.

#Warhammer3 #ImmortalEmpires #Bretonnia #Tzeentch #TheEMpi...
hmmm, tzeench bretonnia using pegasus knights as tzaangor guys on disks
now I cant stop thinking about putting marines on bretonnia horses and use them as thunderwolf cavalry
That's me with the new seraphon Ngl
Like if I wasn't weary of it being weird and of the work needed to do it I'd love aztec dino marines
instead I'm just considering doing space chaos warriors as a kill team or something lol
Cuz I sorta just adore this look
That was a semi-popular choice for CSM back in the late 00s/early 10s.
Yeah this is from 2010
And Idk it just hits my brain right
It's like this just right mix of the warriors look I like and marine
It's sorta what I wish csm looked like
ork stationary freaks
space marine boarding force
Speaking of!
oooooh
Yeah like it looks more like a space marine that is raiding and reaving to me is I think what it is
Instead of spikey loyalist marine lol
"some of the men are on edge, sir. I think burning a few forests would help calm them down."
⬆️➡️⬇️⬇️⬇️ for morale purposes
Technically not what recon by fire is, but also approve of the “Fuck them grid squares” method of killing the Scary Bug
"Recon by fire" (bomb it flat and sift through the rubble to see what you hit)
Recon by fire is another, only slightly less silly thing: if you are unsure where enemy emplacements and troop positions are, attack them and either win or find out for next time
while it sounds silly there are worse ideas
("fuck it we ball")
"actually spot where the enemy is" is vastly preferable but if you can't then well
[guy in a trench hearing gunfire] "that's bait"
I feel like it's less "recon" and more like how a rocket engine might have a "rapid unscheduled disassembly"
Oh I know, sometimes you do really just gotta go and figure out what’s what, but it is still a somewhat “wait what” idea when you first explain it
If you do it right it’s basically probing attacks in areas to figure out what is where generally for the Big One, but if done wrong it’s “that time a dumbass colonel got his battalion killed”
there's a fairly recent US army manual covering what to do if you get attacked by aircraft and it basically says that while shooting at a plane with small arms won't do anything to the plane it will make your troops feel better
hold on I can track it down
I guess the third option that the guard takes is "well we know what it is now because it's all ashes"
Yeah true
Wasn't there something like that with the USSR during WWII?
Like, something about how there's not much in the reports because when you open up with as much artillery as they were using the infantry really has nothing to write about?
Recon by fire as a term was originally an american thing in WW2
Which basically meant sustaining an assault by driving a lot of armor forward very fast and shooting everything which looked vaguely like a german position
The idea being to pre-emptively suppress anti tank teams and such while keeping up speed and pursuing a retreat
I each to make more boarding actions
