like the sob are used as fucking moderators with them
the angle makes it looks like the templar is like
yeah thats the one
smooshing his chest into the ganger
from panel to panel, the marine just keeps getting wider
by the last panel hes like kingpin from spiderman
just a head
his whole body encompassing the panel
He's a professional loomer
but yeah ive recently gotten my brain knot around templars sorted by just making them my focal point for just peak the iom and marines are horrifying
and then pitting them against tau just ot accentuate it even more
that and cuz bt colors against viorla colors looks good
BT would also really accent and put in the front all the things the tau hate about the imperium lol
black red vs white red
except that they'd VERY MUCH enjoy the lack of mind science users
literally opposites
though the mirror codex would not be very useful
tau would just call in the psyker auxiliaries because of templars foolish distaste for them
also random but im salty i got so close to out of hand quoting it right
write off armour of contempt as a statistical error
If it helps i used your phrasing to google this
snrk
that does make me vaguely feel better yes
if memory serves that comic ends with the mc as a dreadnought
like i appreciate how much it doesnt try to sell the marine life as heroic
like mans ends up in the eternal suffering box
Tau were kinda horrified to learn what Dreads actually were lol
I want bike vets and phobos vets. and gravis vets
tau were horrified to learn how most iom tech works
like theres a line somewhere about them realizing what a fucking servitor is
"Oh they must just be mechs right?"
...
"Right?"
“Please, just use a computer chip, I beg you, stop using brains”
yknow how drones are like dogs
its why for a time i pitted admech against tau
just peak iom tech body horror against the tau just going
"Why are you like this"
Honestly I’m sad how far 40k Ad Mech has fallen from the Weird Body Horror of 30km
i like some of the silly stuff but mood
they just got better at covering it up 😉
i loved admech as horrible body horror freaks
I like the kataphrons a LOT
pretty much everything abt 40k admech exists in 30k and vice versa
they're seperate for entirely meta reasons
because they're very representative
Look, I want more weird Thallax or Thanators or those weird tech zombie infantrymen
Big, hulking Servitors turned into combat vehicles
i do like the rangers though
I should more fully write out my chapter being forced to forsake their homeworld
space garands make my brain happy
wow I forgot how many iconic old 40k memes were from damnation crusade
Gimme guys who are literally brains attached to targeting systems who can’t even see in the visible spectrum anymore
yeah its allot of them
cuz the sorcerer king dynasties they installed turned out to be one (1) genestealer cult and like five (5) chaos sorcerer cults
that did not go well damn
To which the ordo hereticus responded 'murder your world or we will murder you'
lmao (bloody)
Because the genestealer cult did their thing and the sorcerer cults then did their thing in response
lmao
I've seen edits of these panels but this is honestly way funnier than them
Just an utter shitshow of a genestealer cult force fighting against guard that are very concerned about their lieutenant getting orders from a Daemon of Khorne
sees war dad killed in front of him
I really wish I had just the clip if the Lion saying
"I'm the first baby, I'm perfect."
"Oh he looks weak"
Music
Oddwin - 19
"BROTHER I AM STILL ALIVE AND YOU ARE A DICKHEAD"
“I thought WE WERE FRIENDS, COME ON MAN”
So did they wind up wiping them out?
I was reading the death and the end 2 earlier and there's a surprising amount of WS stuff in it
They did
Which at least in that book was interesting because it was almost all dismounted stuff
Their options were do that, or die with them
Could start a giant clusterfuck of space marine chapters fighting one another first I suppose
But yeah that's fair
actually it may have been the ordo hereticus and ordo malleus
so they might have brought some gk along
and made all the psykers of my chapter shit massive bricks
If there's a bunch of daemons around the GK could respond without the ordo malleus around as well
gk jumpscare
What happens when a Grey Knight smells H E R E S Y in the air?... whats a Grey Knight??.. do they even exist???.... Huh??,.
Original Comic Dub by GingerSid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0PXG5B7prg
(I MUST say that i made this animation with no intent of making money out of it, this was only made for fun and entertainment.. And also becaus...
gk are very secretive and stealthy tm
I've never seen that before haha
i watched it a while back
and is probably my go to video to tldr gk to somebody
cuz it pretty directly gets the idea across
If the Audiobook "Our Martyred Lady" is Canon then this is also 100% canon
Huh Greyfax might be one of the rare mainline setting characters who'd make a good (hypothetically huge budget) 40k tv series
i was gonna say eisenhorn/ravenor but then i reread mainline
Yeah its way easier with novel only or novel-mostly characters
I forget, did Inquisitor or the books come first?
Inquisitor the “kinda a skirmish game, kinda a rpg”
Relative to which books?
Almost certain both Ravenor and Eisenhorn books predate 40mm Inquisitor The Game ™️
Grognard memory don’t fail me now
I would be sort of surprised
looking it up
hmm
not sure
Eisenhorn is from the same year
The Eisenhorn books
My guess is its sort of like the Dark Heresy books and was a tie in series
“Same year” is much closer than I was expecting tbh
Same
Inquisitor was sort of foundational for a lot of Inquisition Lore
I am really enjoying the death and the end 2
hoping to finish it off before part 3 releases
The naming scheme is funny though
should've called part 1 'the end' and then part 2 'the death' and then when part 2 had to be split called part 2 'the' and part 3 'death'
lol
There’s some neat stuff here
I like how Horus is ||trying to tempt the 4 really important people who teleported aboard the flagship into joining him as servants of the gods||
And it’s a weird split
inquisitor is unironically how I got into tabletop rpgs, it was the transition point from strict wargaming to more narrative things
saw neat giant models and wanted to know what they were for
||the gift of rot for Sanguinius delivered via the wound from Angron. Not sure what’s in it for him? Accepting his death?||
||the gift of change for Valdor to grow beyond his existence as a servant of the emperor||
||blood for Dorn as the unthinking warrior he longs for||
||and excess for the emperor who longs for power||
I think for the first one it's ||staving OFF his death||
Probably yeah
cain is still the best option i feel
like it just be him getting interviewed and having flashbacks
also tbh of the triumvirate grefax has probably aged the worse imo

0:00 - Intro
1:02 - Adam and Eve...
I absolute love this dude's designs
Playing Warhammer Fantasy 4E for the first time tonight.
Imperial Capital of Altdorf: WELCOME TO THE BIG CITY BITCH! -kid runs by and snatches Hamodoc backpack, with her blanket and tinderbox inside. Fails both athletic rolls to catch the thief- (Hamodoc is my Halfling Postilion/Coachman) She/They somehow managed to do impressively well in my first experience with combat
nice
Just thinking about the one mutant who kept getting fucking cutting (not very serious blows though) blows from their whip, and one of those hits coming close to hitting our party's Witch-Hunter. Like Hamodoc was hiding behind a crate so to speak, swung the whip and just imagining it crack over the shoulder of the tall ass Witch Hunter and hitting the mutant in the chest. Like he was not getting away from the Halfling who was essentially flailing her whip most of the time and getting lucky.
I know im 4 hours late to this conversation but ive always felt like the white scars should be more shooty than they currently are. basically a evasive short to midrange gun line.
like, leans into their vibes of being aggressive, but still somewhat deliberate and not obsessed with arbitrary codes of honor like other chapters. Also, the Mongol cavalty they draw inspiration from famously used bows, ya'know, a ranged weapon?
That would also help differentiate them from other high speed space marines like blood angels or ravenwing (who do some shooting but are very space hussars)
That's a good idea for sure
i might be biased, but i do put space mongolian cavalry above space hussar cavalry
Actually as a think about it more, i wonder if it would be cool if kahn wasnt like, the 5th master duelist primarch (fulgrim, lion, sanguinius i think, russ, kahn). And instead was a sharpshooter to end all sharpshooters.
known for shooting the mightiest bow on all of chogoris, then discovers bolters and goes full john wick.
im more confilicted on this one, because the kahn swordfight scenes ive read have been sick.
the endless struggle between 'hey this is samey' and "woah cool swordfighter"
Emp is like "all my sons shall be swordfighters" and not being one is an exception
Angron: "But I like axes" E: "You'll learn the sword and you'll like it." A: [anger noises]
the thing i think id find bothersome is making the khan and the scars different from the others based on them getting the gimmick first rather than any real differentiation establishd in their existing lore
like "oh someone else got good bikes, guess we gotta bend around that now"
"dont wanna step on those toes"
I would very much prefer the Scars remaining as they are
Just give them some units with the lances they're supposed to have
but have you considered sword and bolter?
i beg for a scrap of power sabers and chain sabers
please i just want cool mongol bikers with sabers
custodes spear-bolter combos are sick.
I'd also note that blood angels specialty isn't fast attack, it's assault and deep striking
Fast attack is the white scars thing
The White Scars have a case of the zoomies.
I mean I'm talking about how quickly they get across a table mechanically
Blood Angels have been turn 2 assaulting for like 25 years
i ironically mentioned this earlier
Yeah, though that's not really their thing at all in 10th, their Detachment mostly benefits getting the charge rather than improving charge reliability or any mass adv + charge
They're also fast overland, like really obsessed with it
Giving all their tanks Fast except LRs
(Or at least, they did, they don't get that in 10e, but they also suck in 10e)
Adv+charge is really accessible to any chapter now via a few vectors
Yeah BA don't have any speed boosted modern vehicles, just some holdovers from their old unique stuff
(Ok, suck is too strong, but they have the worst winrate of any space marine ruleset which has the common units)
But Baal-pattern stuff is a pretty established part of their lore
baal predator my beloved
I just don't see them getting any baal pattern gladiator reaper
(DW and GK were lower in November, but people are waking up to GK's strengths now apparently)
calling Morathi a 'dommy mommy' is a good way to get flayed alive
That'd be sick as hell though
I think they should get that now
I don't think there's anything stopping a chargoris pattern gladiator or something though tbh
Or a chargoris pattern stormspeeder
tbh I'm just super not buying the "other chapters should lose things so the WS can get them" thing
The WS just need elaboration on their stuff which isn't HH era
They've got a lot going on there
I'm just of the opinion that other chapters having stuff isn't a reason to bar the ws from elements of their identity
Other chapters had stuff before the unique dexes and models came out for them too
Like the UM existed
But those other chapters got to have entire rosters of unique stuff
Just because they got unique stuff that fit them that also fits the ws doesn't mean that the ws shouldn't get things that fit their identity
Like the ravenwing existing first and being elite bike cav should not be a bar to ws being or having elite bike cav, and if it came down to it to me, i would choose ws to have unique bike cav before I chose dark angels any day
And I certainly don't think the right response to other chapters getting elements of suitable gimmicks to the white scars is to bend and twist and change their identity to not overlap with those other chapters
I think "getting elements" is a weird way to put it - the Ravenwing predate almost all the WS lore by some years aiui
(The modern White Scars are from 2001 aiui)
That said I don't think that the WS shouldn't get some fancy bikes or something
I just think its weird for that to mean "and the ravenwing shouldn't"
This is also a super deep cut but it'd be cool to see Soul-Drinkers back in 40k
Ooh, or "cobra squads"
(Ranged jump pack space marines basically)
oh hell I forgot I read those books
didn't the chapter master? librarian? something like that have enormous spider legs
(I'm looking through the old Book of the Astronomicon for what I think is the oldest published mention of the WS)
For the chapter with the same name yeah
This is what I just found though
I wonder if they ever appeared in HH
They are admittedly, basically modern bladeguard
oh yeah no that's a much deeper cut
I'd love to get some plastic 40k keshig tbh
Those are the jetbike lancers right?
yeah those are pretty sick
I do like that detail
Since Terminators are put through the ringer a lot and can't really participate in the WS way of war
And penitence stuff seems to be real big for them
They have a weird HH detachment which is like a penitent crusade I think
And means you can get VP for having your fellas die
AIUI they're still around but were erased from history
I love recontextualization of units
And confusingly, a primaris Soul Drinkers chapter was raised which didn't know about them
Like how Space Wolves Scouts are actually some of the most veteran of the chapter
I would love to see ranged jump pack squads for the raven guard for some reason, mostly cause I can imagine them on the raptors. We almost kinda have it with suppressors
That IS confusing
I mean I assume the reason would be Raven Guard like flying
I just like the idea of using the jump packs to gain advantage with ranged attacks via elevation
They compete with ba as jump pack chapters
Instead of shock assault
Jump pack guys Phobos also make a good bodyguard for Shrike
Hmm incidentally I wonder if I should feature more suppressors or inceptors on raptor theme lists
Raven Guard are another interesting HH terminators thing
We haven't gotten suppressed bolt carbines yet have we?
Not without some conversions, though I think the norm is the use suppressed bolts not gun mounted suppressors lore wise
Since Corax isn't a Terminator fan they're just... sidelined
And wear red for some reason
Oh huh, someone pointed out that they use inverted Justaerin terminator colors and trained with them pre-Corax
I wanna turn this guy into a librarian
That ought to be pretty straightforward especially if you're not worried about modeling a psychic hood
Which is usually the annoying part of a libby conversion
"I AM AN OLD MAN AND I WILL FUCKING SET YOU ON FIRE"
Oh, this is a minor thing, but does your chapter do codex blue librarians?
codex what now?
like
compliant?
oh is it called codex blue cuz the blue boys' extra special boy wrote it?
If you mean codex compliant...
Mooooooooostly????
There are some in the chapter who still do stuff that isn't explicitly chaos magic
but is probably not a good idea?
Librarians traditionally wear blue, much like tech marines wear red
And apothecaries wear white
Oh nah
They wear the colors of the associated now deceased family of sorcerer-kings they symbolically belong to
Basically the codex says that chapters specialists should use specific armor colors to show their speciality instead of normal chapter colors, blue for librarians (ironic on the Ultramarines, but technically a different shade), white for apothecaries, red for techmarines (but this is also because of their admech heritage and loyalty to mars, and often followed even when others are not), black for Chaplains
mmmm
nope
I honestly don't rly get that
well
I guess I sort of get it
but I feel there are more efficient, less garish ways to do that
Tau be like "their medics all wear the same color"
Sm clap back with "theyre squad leaders all have distinctive helmet colors and carry a fancy knife"
Tau and space marines also often fight pretty clean wars
I mean the librarians in specific do not care about obscuring themselves from getting officer-sniped
Like the Tau often won't shoot apothecaries just doing their thing
It makes sense for Librarians and Techmarines
At least, its happened
Like there is class strata in this fucking chapter lmao
if you don't have psyker abilities
Good fucking luck being promoted to an officer rank above sergeant
Yeah it gets more complicated to decide for a chapter if you have mixed ranks like that
These are a bunch of magically inclined classist cunts XD
The only non-psyker member of rank
Is the chaplain
You should 100% make the psykers obviously different,if only for the safety of your soldiers
Because she is also the Bladeguard Master and kicks so many incontrovertible levels of ass
Dark Heresy taught me that
I imagine specific colored marines helps with field readability from inside power armor, much like fancy banners and helmet decorations with the samurai or the knights and their decorations.
Oh god I'm making space Vints
Fuck
Okay talus
This is a shitpost
To be clear
sees a marine shitting lightning out of their fingers
"Huh I wonder what kind of marine that is"
😛
I imagine even with a space marines enhancements, the view from inside their armor might be somewhat restrictive and in the chaos of battle, it might make sense to use big, unsubtle markings or indications
I know this answer!
It's a Stormcast
and I imagine the Ivory Drakes don't really have many Techmarines honestly
Techmarines are too valuable not to have
Whoop
Maintaining the chapter armory
Missed a vital word
Rather than on the field commonly
lol ur good
Yeah
In the view of chapter command
who are, as previously stated
classist mage assholes
Techmarines are often pretty sidelined in their chapters
Since they're usually not members of the Chapter Cult
They'd rather field the psychic might of the Chapter's Finest ™️ over some greasy engineers
Or at least, they're also a part of the machine faith
They are fully inducted into both I think
Which still makes them weird to their fellows
Yeah
Holy shit
Are they also like the monster hunter blacksmith with palico helpers? Bring them Tyrannofex Acid sack x2, Tyranid Chiton x5, Sharp Claw x3 to make Tyrannofex Greaves 1?
Do I make Techmarine the punishment posting????
It'd be a pretty serious one
Techmarine induction includes a 10 year long internship pilgrimage to Mars
"You're so shit we're making you fuck off for a decade to join a cult and maintain our vehicles and weapons"
You get bonus stats for completing the Tyrannofex set
What if I told you half the artifacts in the Librarium and armory are scrimshaw or other forms of items made from animal parts
There's a psyker staff kept in the Reclusiam that's made of a straightened out zoanthrope spine
Oh I know, you'd mentioned it before, that's I was making the reference xD
I think I'd make it the 'borderline exile' posting
Like a step above getting executed
Oh lol
I think there'd be another sect within the chapter of the craftsmen
oooo I could make that their weird take on a chaplain
Every space marine has to get a meal at the cantina to max their hp and stamina before deployment, so there's a restaurant in the drop pod Bay
lol
That makes sense to me - it is exile for a while
college student better be thank Sigmar he was holding his book tightly. My Halfling was moments away from wanting to borrow it, despite not being capable of reading
I’m sure he would have gotten it back eventually, we are in Altdorf after all. How hard could it be to get the book back to him
lmao
Yeah, poor dude was sitting with a Halfling Postilion on uhh vacay, with a Witch Hunter, and I think a Priest of Morr? (I think???) And was trying to study for an exam, with said priest asking questions and my Halfling peering over the book since he was sitting low enough. Hard to resist the siren call of a very nicely designed manuscript.
Pretty art
MUST BORROW THE PRETTEH BOOK
Does anyone know if someone has cooroborated some or all of the weapon profiles in 40k into some form of spreadsheet
i want to make a plot of strength vs ap for all weapons
to see what weapons have the most disproportionate ratio of strength vs ap, because it seems those numbers are generally linked.
*roughly linked.
I am not aware of one
I suspect that the various tank “melee weapons” might be the most disproportionate ones though
speaking of halfling kleptomaniacs
I bet, by some cosmic twist of fate
the third player in our wfrp game is gonna play a halfling
It just feels like it completes a trifecta with the hedonist slayer and belligerent elf
If I had opted to keep the 50 bonus xp, I would have ended up a human in this campaign which would have made an all human party currently.
me and my partner are being not beholden to the dice gods and picking
but I bet our friend is gonna roll
and end up a halfling anyway
Yeah, admittedly that part of the process threw me for a loop
Dice determining age, species, etc
i am the best at model
Yo, that rules!!
so awesome
Golden Demon material right there
Its even funnier
Your opponents don't get VP for you dying
So like with an all infantry army
You autowin 1/3 of your games
Well you autowin blood feud
War of lies is an insane advantage
?
I don't mind it I just have a slayer oc and the rules have a baked in thing for just choosing if you don't like your rolls
And I'll be damned if the fancy art of my lady slayer doesn't get used lol
Another point to the skavens
Good luck
i love em, but being limited to only 3 makes my options somewhat limited as far as what i pack into em
and no dreadpods anymore is also a bit unfortunate
Oh that’s weird
are drop pods not dedicated transports?
Poor dreads, having to book it to the where the terminator assault is going to be
Looks like no
wild. they're literally the most dedicated a transport can be
I couldn't take more than 3 rhinos either last list I made
Did you only have three battleline units?
Hmm, you should be able to take up to 6 rhinos, so long as you can put a unit in each one
doesn't matter
the bsdata is just wrong is all
you don't even need occupants to have a valid list, it's just a bad idea cause they destroyed
as long as you have a warlord
this is neat
First attempt
Oh but yeah also the drop pod is not a dedicated but just a vehicle
The idea is dropping wolf guard with characters immediately on my enemy, while my backline sets up control zones and or firing lanes
If my Halfling winds up dying at some point, and I roll a human again I’ll probably go for it. And then go for either a Knight, Investigator, Judge, or maybe Warrior Priest of Sigmar
I rolled up a couple characters completely for the lols
my first roll was a warrior priest
really old 40k lore is so weird
How similar but a little different it is
I think its fucking hilarious that the bikes are Vincent Black Shadows though
The Vincent Black Shadow is a British motorcycle designed and built at the Vincent works in Great North Road, Stevenage, Hertfordshire UK. Motorcycles produced by Vincent H·R·D at their factory in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England were renowned for their design innovation, engineering excellence and high performance. Already advertising their ex...
Omygosh original Yriel lore
Here's the Prince Yriel illustration that one references
And people talk about how 40k pivoted towards Grim Darkness later on
(This is all Book of the Astronomicon, which is a 1e sourcebook for... random things the designers like I think)
I can't believe these tourists retconned the White Scars fortress-monastary ship 'Constantius'
refractor field and a displacer field
smh smh smnh smh
his completely imitable brand of justice. so imitable
Apparently they started life as a unique White Scars unit before becoming their own chapter???
That's fucking hilarious
40k is representative of itself in that no one has had new ideas in millenia and just scavenges the old
COMPANY LIEUTENANT SPOTTED
White Scars had Primaris before anyone
I love these old names
And how shitty a lot of these early imperial characters are
I'm 100% serious about the bikes just being space vincent black shadows
Should've kept this
Cobra Squads as a new jump pack Phobos would be lit though

I gotta say, Instagram embeds including everything but the pic is one of the most baffling design choices
That's a really neat kitbash though
I'm stealing this Dreadnought's banner wtf
Absurd paintwork for 1988
They manage to look shockingly menacing despite having those super short legs
It's a good design I think
they look like a battletech
They look like they could roll up into a ball.
Just something with the silhouette inspires joy in me
I like chaos dreads though
killa kans look more like OG dreads than dreads do xD
cause space crusade mostly
and deff dreads
I love how every faction gets banners and logos on the sidebars
MAYHEM is also great
I think this is probably the oldest pic of Marneus Calgar
I love how he's just got a pic of the horrible dessicated emperor body on his wall
I did not realize Snagrod was that old
He's so much more modest in that one with the draped flag and leather skirts
he's got a blue watcher in the dark wtf
Huh I'd never noticed
What I wouldn't give for a modern version of that.
Sssssorta close?
I built one using the armiger
It's similar in spirit anyway, but not in execution.
man has marneus always been the chapter master is the old marneus just like a captain or something
Isn't that one an eldar dreadnought?
sick
design also used in epic apparently
"Calgar Pooping" -Anonymous Artist
duke nukem shitting dot wav
We shit for Macragge
The lines kinda remind me of the Forgefiend but its obviously not really doing the same thing
are those necromunda models?
or hh models?
no the ff
the wortcov posts
they looks cool
but also look like armigers with 2x firepower
right is a FW leviathan dreadnought, the left is a armiger turned into a old chaos dread
that's a sick conversion
quad auto on a mech is kinda sick
the old leviathen dread had a quad auto right?
stormcannon or something?
terminator calgar is actually pretty sick
i know it wasn't meta, but 8 auto leviathan slaps
Ok is "bullock" a motorcycle company? I'm so suspicious after the Vincent Black Shadow information
Also fractional points 😵💫
"Balls" Jet cycles
bicycle company apparently
I feel like Calgar in general is a pretty intimidating dude, but doesn't get as much spotlighting for personal martial prowess
Bullock is another term for "steer" so it could just be some wordplay.
i do think calgar is one of hte most heavily armed chapter masters tho
terminator armor, twin power fists, and twin hb right?
(basically shortened the legs, used leg armour for a longer neck, IG autocannons for the gun, castelan gun hands and deredeo heavy flamers for the back guns)
Significance to less than half a percent of the total value seems unnecessary lol
comparatively, logan has a sexy power axe and a storm bolter and dante has a... sexy power axe and a pistol
hmmm
IIRC its basically a super storm bolter but yeah
power axes are popular amongst chapter masters
Not enough named SM characters have weird-ass weapon combos. Mostly melee and pistol combo.
as bad as the minotaurs are, their chapter master rocking and rolling aiwth a shield and spear was sick imo
4e
In the 5e book they were assault 4 iirc
tyberos having lightning chainfist claws was also cool
tyberos is dope
I like Tor Garadon's setup
do really wish that logan had a helfrost pistol instead of a storm bolter
Or Tyberos with his lightning claw/chainfist double combo.
Also yeah tor garadon having a grav gun is cool
also his power fist actully looks pretty cool
a bit chunkier in a pleasing way
The raised brass knuckle thingies give it a nice touch
feirros having a heavy bolter miu was cool for 5 seconds and then it turned out that's just how primaris techmarines rolll
feiros also has an axe and tentacles right?
he has an axe and a crane and a plasma cutter thing
Hot take
The Minotaurs aren't any more "bad" than any other Chapter
Marines just don't like being the ones being bullied for once
Honestly “any other chapter” covers so much ground
oh i enjoy arjacs riff on the thunder hammer/shield combo; even if he's a Thor stand in. I also like how he, of the various character in the space wolves, is hte chief duelist and champion
marneus calgar is pure of heart and strong of ass
its cause he poops
shoutout also to lukas teh trickster, for the single claw/plasma pistol set up
And I am painting ALL OF THEM with that brush
Coincidentally Wolves are one of the chapters which is probably better than the Minotaurs morally
Though everyone is on a low and precarious bar
shrikes got custom short lightning claws right? And a special pistol?
Shrike has basically all weird unique stuff yeah
(im still on the "cool loadout" on sm thing, trying to remember what else we got that is slightly or totally departed from "cool weapon and pistol")
oh master crafted rending lightning claws made by corax himself. shrike has
Raven's Talons
njalls a bit of a cheat but he only has a force staff and a bird
and I guess the blades themselves have been retrofitted onto primaris gauntlets or something
now
but raven guard armourers like making cool pistols yeah
their named moritat is kinda crazy w/ it
oh oh, i forget does astorath have only the giant fucking axe or does he also have a pistol?
If you count CSM - wait I don’t need to!
Space Wolves: Have killed innocent civilians
Minotaurs: Have canonically only killed Space Marines
checkmate athiests
can't believe the minotaurs killed child soldiers
Lightning claw thing and heavy flamer
Space wolves have also gotten into the ring with the inquisition in defense of civilian and allied troops, which is a point in their favor generally
oh yeah
huron's also got a neat chaos loadout right?
special lightning claw/flamer combo
every meme about it is with the cropped audio
I made it from scratch (now in a glorious 1080p video)
ohhh haarkon worldclaimer is kinda sick af cause he's literally just got a spear
ye
Yeah axe and weird claw
and a naked mole rat?
i think thats at least acceptably a non- cool power weapon and pistol combo
Hu-Ron Stoppable and his pet Rufus
Haarkon is cool but I’ve always felt a little weird that he’s Black Legion
kinda wish there were more leader or named sm characters who were just like "Man i fucking love carrying around a whole ass plasma gun and not a combi weapon"
It’s “The Hamadraya” and gives him psychic powers iirc
or combat knife loving sm characters
My boys Chapter Master uses dual-chainfists c:
Combat knife daemon weapon
Sometimes looks like a gross little dino and makes it so you get canceled a lot
I want a thunder quarterstaff
Occasional slurs? So less racist than the rest of the 40k galaxy
"On a 6, it drops a hard Slur and deals 200 mortal wounds to your actual player opponent"
You then lose the game but get a bunch of airtime on conservative media
Does Fabius Bile count as not using a melee weapon and pistol?
He at least looks pretty unique while doing it
Is he holding a pistol? Or does he have to stab people with it?
is the cane a melee weapon?
yep
lmao that name
adrax agatone's thunder hammer is really cool
I got his sprues in a ebay job lot and I'm excited to put it on something one day
might remake my chapter master
This is what they called me in College
he'stan himself is relatively cool too
oo yeah
palm flamer and a spear
flamer/spear good combo
spears are underrated in 40k
Idk the Custodes kinda go super hard into them
id like to see lightning claws that look like katars too
custodes are dope because they go hard into them
and that one deathwatch mini
secutarii hoplites are really cool too
watch master
I think spears are mostly sort of rare because they're tricky to pose for models
i also think we don't get enough power knives
power knives are cool
I rolled inheritance when I played IM so I decided to get a archeotech heirloom (broken) teleporting power knife
the power knife bit worked
the teleporting bit I had a personal quest to fix
My Dark Heresy tech-assassin had raptor-feet with the big claw being power knives
power knife but like in the "THIS is a knife" sense
catachan should get power bowie knives
That would be like a more devastating version of thors hammer
Oh wait teleporting
Am I the stupid
but less boomerang-y yes

Here's a BA drop pod list idea
"Magnus can't be that much of a nerd in canon, can he?"
“The ancient knights’ quest for the grail, the alchemist’s search for the
Stone of the Philosophers, all were part of the Great Work and are therefore
endless. Success only opens up new avenues of brilliant possibility. Such a
task is eternal and its joys without bounds; for the whole universe, and all
its wonders… what is it but the infinite playground of the Crowned and
Conquering Child, of the insatiable, the innocent, the ever-rejoicing heirs of
the galaxy and eternity, whose name is Mankind?”
— The Book of Magnus
FUcking hell Magnus
Eonir Wood Elf Scout time
I notice normal death company seems better than Intercessor death company
lmao
What's the second one?
Cawl has a bunch of AI templated off of himself
lol yeah
random but this photo form the deathwing article is so funny to me
idk why but it just sorta is
somethign with how its all framed
"Watcher, you will have to eat all of that."
"..." (That means "Fuck." in Watcherese)
I'm starting to lose faith in the theory that adding a 0 to 40k numbers makes it make more sense
(Since this is the meme du jour right now)
It's just humans getting taller over forty thousand years
If we inappropriately extrapolate the post-industrial revolution average yearly increase (which didn't level off until the 60s), we get that the average human height becomes 25m
Faith restored
Corpse starch full of protein I suppose
in the 410th millenium
Explains scout Baneblades, and Titans tbh.
hurricane bolters are a linked set of 60 bolters
Was messing around in the army builder for aos for a potential army/buy list. Not included is the dice bucket needed for the fusiliers 30*2 attacks
Maybe getting whooshed here but you generally should roll huge shooting attacks in lots of 10-15 anyway
Unless you have really big hands
It's a lot funnier to roll with a bucket though
Or tiny dice.
Those are hard to read ime
Usually yeah.
I played Orks in the past so I had a lot of 40-70 shot attacks haha
Gotta get ones with good contrast.
There's a lot of that in a good krump, or if you'ze gots dakka.
Being a Chaos Dwarf collector, I was thrilled when I had the chance to speak with both Rick Priestley and Alan Perry on the 4th edition Big Hats! Both cover the origins of the project, and Alan's section also includes some of his original concept sketches that I don't believe have been seen before! Lastly then, just a nod to the community with a...
Burn. Burn! BUUUUURRRRNNNN!!!!!
read that like Robin was saying it
"Holy Promethium, Batman!"
this is the true reason anyone runs ork dakka lists
the mountains of dice
bad moons themed detachment better give every orky ranged weapon sustained hits
like sustained hits 2 or somethin
the roof, the roof
i guess true sauce might be giving orky dakka lethal hits or something
i really do hope the dakka orky detachment isnt ass
No*
yeah dont think he was
Fucking
* it’s complicated to say this with primarchs, but not traditionally
Also Horus Ascendant was much more powerful than pretty any psyker
But was strictly speaking a Sorcerer in 40K terms
Took Big E for a reason
less space wizard and more garden hose
Primarchs are kinda just big bags of warp fuckery anyway
unsure how genuinely physical their forms actually are
granted i dont believe anything related to the heresy or the primarchs actually happened
I think Horus wasn't really even a Sorcerer, honestly
He was more just...a vessel for the Chaos Gods' whims
A supremely powerful conduit that had a fraction of control over the power in him
wait how is a sorcerer distinct from a psyker?
Psykers have innate talent - Sorcerers mimic psychic abilities through blasphemous items and rituals
It takes a lot of effort and realistically they'll never be as strong as someone born with the ability, but they can do it
Namely, one of the advanced career paths in Black Crusade is a sorcerer-heretek
It’s also fairly common for (riskier) psykers to use sorcery to augment themselves
Yeah, though double dipping like that is usually bad news
Chat is teaching me all about the emperor and the bugs and stuff and I'm learning a lot

Like how the Lion just has teleport powers now
is the enuncia from the abnettverse 40k canon?
And is vaguely implied to exude a psychic aura during the crusades that causes people to respect him lol
yes
i vaguely remembering something similar in hh for word bearers stuff too
It's only very barely referenced outside of Abnett's works but its canon either way
And beats a psychic xeno in a brain duel by thinking better tm
Or how Corax, who wasn't a traditional psyker could turn invisible and teleport
Ironically the khan probably had the least of that sorta thing
He was just mysterious tm
Ferrus and Guilliman also seem pretty mundane but yeah
I don't remember Khan doing anything "unnatural" like that
Beyond the normal superhuman speed and strength
Isn't khan like supernaturally fast even for a primarch?
That's still kind of "normal" imo
Like minor spoilers people fucking caught on fire looking at Sanguinius during the assault on the Vengeful Spirit
But honestly, sanguinius having wings, flying, having presience, and superlative might would all probably qualify
And that yeah
Konrad Kurze had that future sight
I think he did some weird darkness stuff as well but yeah his "thing" was the visions
Both sang and curze had forms of presience, I think curze might even comment on it
yeah
Perterabo was theorized to be able to see the weaknesses and flaws in everything
Which is why he could always see the eye of terror no matter what and was a weird pessimistic dickhead
honestly that makes sense to me
Good superpower for someone who put the logistics of the Traitor Legions squarely on his back
yeah
Angron could supposedly amplify or channel emotions or something
But thanks to the nails mostly just made people berserk
It's funny and tragic at the same time that angrons super hero ability was effectively mega empathy
And the butchers nails drowned it in blood
I'm sorry what?
He can just
Fucking teleport?
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
So after he woke up he was in a forest
I WONDER WHO HE MIGHT HAVE LEARNED IT FROM
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
And iirc it kind of taps into a pocket dimension or something
And its a forest which travels between worlds or something which he learned how to enter
I think it functions similarly to a web way yeah
Oh its probably the webway, but he didn't learn it from someone else
Bro is the fucking green knight
But less devices
He has spent a lot of time just like... showing up to slaughter traitors and bouncing after
Caliban is as it turns out, a derelict webway tunneler machine from the Old Ones which a planet grew over
??????????????????????
So if he did learn it from someone it was probably an echo of the old one directly imo
But everything to do with the forest is EXTREMELY arthurian myth
So its hard to say
Oh is that confirmed? I thought calibans true nature was still mysterious and would remain as much since it left with arkifane
But was clearly like the important thing
It's pretty explicit in AoO The Lion
Ahh kk
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fisher_King
He pretty much runs into this story directly while in the Forest as well
The Fisher King is a figure in Arthurian legend, the last in a long line of British kings tasked with guarding the Holy Grail. The Fisher King is both the protector and physical embodiment of his lands, but a wound renders him impotent and his kingdom barren. Unable to walk or ride a horse, he is sometimes depicted as spending his time fishing w...
Which is another hmmm
Found it!
Wonder what it keeps locked up
gooood question
Abaddon doing the
cracks me up though
we gotta get these back to the LoV
Does this look enough like a Wood Elf for a somewhat Imperialized Wood Elf?
For Old World/WFRP
I think so yeah
I do find it funny the scout is a peasant career
cuz I think its like the one peasant career with melee (basic) as a skill
I have a Rogue Trader I want to write that uses one of these
Power board and Super Cool Grenades
Don't the Skitari literally have Rad grenades?
They should invest in demon core grenades , smh
rad grenades are a thing yeah
altho skitarii vanguard are more like living rad grenades
I've more or less told you that before lol
Let's not bring those van saar models into this
Dread, genuine dread when I see those fuckers
Every one of the bastards has a hand flamer to
As always
Ork iz bezt
Red Gobbo is a classic but may get you kicked in the nuts
how about a meka-dread centered one
I wish rebel grots was a faction Ngl
At this point in time in the tabletop I would be happy if the Orks remain unique enough and not receive the Ad-Mech treatment
Or worst
The DeathGuard treatment
that would require GW to have a political faction
and make Da Gobbo not a joke character
I think grot tanks would be enough honestly
Just so you can run a grot-centric list
not a specifically festive joke character i mean
That's half the appeal of gobos/grots
Since atm I think they just have grots and gunz batteries
Fair
You fool
every faction is political if you squint hard enough
or say is a political satire
I guess they’re still around but legends+barely in print
while entirely true Da Gobbo is directly i political satire and GW has done its damnedest to put that shit under the rug
their nice facists dont you know
god i love all the grot vehicles
the megatank is something i want to see on a table one day
Literally a trashcan
I love it
a
Grot tanks are delightful
Seem like a fun kitbash project
BIG and STOMPY
i wonder if it could work as a massive, deadly bludgeon
biggest issue is that the army is generally quite slow
but its also very tough
and decently both fighty and shooty
Interesting to think there's a separate list for Goblins in Warhammer Fantasy and Age of Sigmar, but nothing in 40k
Well, I suppose the Warhammer Fantasy Goblin list is mostly "Night Goblin Fanatic delivery system"
The best tanks. No, the greatest tanks in the galaxy
has this been posted yet
Goblins are generally more independent than grots. You get more examples of them doing their own thing.
Plus they're more likely to backstab orks that kick them one too many times.
definitely
grot faction would be so awesome but I think it's even less likely than exodites

Weird question
Just out of curiosity since I discovered them while making my wfrp character; did the Eonir wood elves have any unique wood elf units, or were they treated mechanically as a high elf faction?
i dont recall them having anything specific
hell their just slightly less turbo-asshole woodwlves no?
"wood elves but less so"
A Grot HQ and maybe some light infantry Grots would be pretty nice for 40k.
isnt that gretchen?
I'm not up to date with my terminology.
They're called out as being less bound to forest spirits and more culturally Asur-ish
And it's more they're a mix of xenophobic turbo-asshole and politicky turbo-asshole
I see they have an ork commander handler in the squad.
can they go independent?
the Runtherd is technically independent as a character
maybe one could make a themed army of gretchin and killer kans.
runtherds aren't seperate in tenth I don't think
reversed the atomisation that happened in 8th edition

grot gretchin and runt are all interchangable broadly speaking
to a lesser extent git as well but it can also be a pejorative toward an ork, as in flash gitz
in aos there's also saddlegit or gnoblar, for grots that live in maw tribes
another one is snotling for the smallest grots
but grot and gretchin especially is interchangable imo. gretchin units and mek guns and killa kans and grot tanks are all the same tiny green guys
Snotlings are I think sort of a different thing, but taxonorkmy is an inexact science
yeah exactly
but it does make me think of grot infighting
like
"I drew myself as the gretchin and you as the grot, it's over"
The definition of snotling could well be “grot too stupid or short legged to run away from the shokk attack gun intake”
Snotlings are tiny and want to show off to orks, which is pretty different
Snotlings are small enough that they came in swarms rather than units
This says a lot about society
wonder where zog off comes from
It comes from a time when people were more shy about using real cuss words in things like SFF properties, so you had to invent all these goofy pretend swears especially if you want to make things sound gritty.
"Frak." "Drokk." "Slot." "Berk."
Honestly it's a bit silly but it's also a real unique kind of charm to those kinds of properties.
It adds a certain kind of texture to things too.
It’s the ork’s way of expressing dismay at the plight of of mid 20th century Albania
"Berk" is, I was making a joke about how Planescape cheated by just using cockney rhyming slang for their not-swears and also that England is pretend. It might have missed the mark as a jape
When Zog I was exiled
drek
yeah
there's a lot of it in 2000ad stuff
wonder if it's comic censors related
But yeah, it's a bit of a thing where the pretend slang gives a setting some unique texture and the feel of a future and attendant culture distant from us where the even the language is as strange and exclusionary as our subcultures are to our grandparents
But also it's very silly when you have a gritty setting where every drug and cuss has been replaced by a goofy pretend techno-drug or nonsense word so the authors don't get in trouble with their parents
And it's also funny where they just aren't even a little bit hiding what they're doing, like how the BSG reboot took "frak" from a nonsense epithet in the 70s version to just a blatant find and replace for "fuck"
I want to read Infinite and the Divine partly because I saw an excerpt of two necrons doing rude hand gestures at each other
It can't all be epic duels and world shaking conflicts, give me characters having petty disagreements
Infinite and the Divine is honestly peak
One of the best 40k novels
It blends comedy, drama, tragedy and sometimes horror in such a seamless and entertaining way
Hell yeah
The two Twice-Dead King books are a great followup and companion piece
frakkin’ BSG reboot trivia: there’s a scene in one of the first couple episodes where I think Boomer calls the Chief a ‘motherfrakker’. Allegedly, it was an ad-lib and the actors immediately bursting out laughing is genuine. But it plays well, so they kept it in.
5 am preview 😭
rip
LIFE RING IS REVOLVING....INERTIAL DAMPNERS DEPLOYED.....CHICKEN FINALISED...I HOPE IT GOES WELL.....FIRE!
I keep thinking about how I could have a 1k Imperial Guard army with two Combat Patrols and a Rogal Dorn
it all comes to 990 total, you can round it out with a character upgrade
Took a bit of fiddling and research into the PS2 game, and some abuse playing VR modes I shouldn't be able to. But I managed to get all the weapons working.
In memory, it's a 2 byte value. The list of weapons goes as follows:
0 GRAB
1 GEYSER
2 COMET
3 GAUNTLET
4 DECOY
5 V CANNON
6 H.MISSILE
7 WISP
8 F.MINE
9 0 SHIFT
10 PHALANX
11 HALBERD
12 M...
tau should lean into this energy more direcrly even more tbh
And they kept it going! Characters would get frakked, have a quick frakk, just literally use the word "frakk" where you'd otherwise say "fuck" and it airs just fine on basic cable.
Based move tbh, love that show
Still an all-timer, honestly.
It just... really needed to actually figure out what all the suggestive clues were suggesting and what the ominous portents were portending.
orcs are so dang huge
THE ORK HAS A PIP BOY
orks can indeed get very big
don't they just never stop growing or am I mixing it up with something else
indeed
well their growing is linked to their amount of violence done as well
including the violence done to them right?
yeah like The Beast of Beasts was over 30 feet tall
ye
i dont think thast ever addressed
cuz its so rare that its even mentioned someone tried to harm one
the watchers are neat yeah
its one of the things that always appealed to me with DA
just these weird lil hooded lads
there's a kinds of xenos that are classified as familiars right? are they classified as such? or does the inquisition not even know about them?
Watchers in the dark are aiui nearly impossible to damage
they are also cute
I wonder if they’ll ever expand factions like iron hands and white scars the way that space wolves and dark angels have unique toys
I mean, probably there's like 1 billion hh books
IH are I think easier to expand on, but this is mostly just because they have more lore
And are less codex-compliant than the WS, but this is hardly a reason for the WS to not get stuff because the IH are also less codex compliant than the Blood Angels or Dark Angels
also tbh imo the scars are only as compliant as they are due to the sheer lack of lore they have in the 40k period
cuz like they dont even have a traditional librarius in theory
and instead do something similar to runepriests
albeit they dont deny they are psykers
cuz in a variety of ways scars are similar to wolves just without denying the realities of various things in their chapter lol
Giving each founding legion+succesors unique units (save maybe um and if who have normal as part of identity m) would be cool, much better than needless and endless bloat for the marine range
yehp
tbh thats imo where allot of the marine fatigue and complaints come from these days
They are noted as largely following the codex though, though there’s some departures
its just so much constant uneending generic marine releases
Which is pretty similar compared with the IH being super divergent
