Eye for Numbers still has the dubious honor of being basically a better version of the Approximate cantrip lmao
this is one of those feats that makes you go "wait, I wasn't supposed to know that?"
for the low cost of a skill feat!
the legendary effect is "cool" but it targets basically a single extremely rare spell ('and similar')
big fan of the rule of thumb for niche abilities of 'ask yourself how many times this would have been useful in your last campaign'
Yep! We've been doing it a bunch
I think at this point pretty much everyone whose REALLY looking has gotten some person or other to send them screenshots of cool stuff
did forget eye for numbers tho that might clinch it
Yeah its very strange
It seems to assume that you WILL take beastmaster and even then its a little odd
Is this really a once per DAY thing
I guess they were worried about animal companion bard becoming a one stop shop
Juicing your pal and sendin them in while also being a full caster
why isnt this a focus spell like cackle?
It feels extremely similar
Holy shit I can't wait to cast Advanced Scurvy on someone
Besmara liked this post
this isnt your normaly scurvy
I looked at this and was like, hey that seems pretty good
And then I saw you say its once per day
Wth
oof
awakened possum invinter and gunslinger
I would totally just house rule this to a focus spell
it easily could be
like... Lingering is still right there
I mean cackle is like
a witch exclusive thing
inventor kinda gets something similar but they basically don't get any reactions as a result I think
I hope remaster sorcerer gets something cool
other than just the dragon remasters
all sorcerers should have the ability to shoot blood out of their eyes regardless of heritage or origin
any cool champion styled NPCs?
There's a Tyrant in Stolen Fate that's pretty nice
I also made a custom statblock for a Tyrant Champion Troll King forever ago
Its cool as an NPC side thing, especially for a boss
Yah this guy is for a fight where I’m basically introducing my players to what they’ll be fighting in the future
But who are for now on their side
This is the statblock from Stolen Fate: ||https://2e.aonprd.com/NPCs.aspx?ID=2556||
Just sub it out with spirit damage
Honestly I think Foundry does it automatically
Probably
I’ll test it soon
Also I like the idea of this guy using like, normally evil champion abilities
It works with his theme
Oh yeah now that alignment isn’t a thing can you be a tyrant or antipaladin of a non-evil deity?
Still probably though
So long as the edicts are compatible enough
Like assuming you’re a tyrant champion of, idk Irori, the whole establish hierarchy could be found as establishing a hierarchy of strength
Where the strength of the followers are established to give reason to strive to become stronger then your betters
An anti paladin of Cayden could just be focused on subverting every system of oppression imaginable unbothered by any toes they need to step on
yeah i think they'll need quite some massaging for that
they put out an FAQ to do some mini updates to champion before PC2 comes out
but basically, good causes need a deity that can sanctify to holy, evil causes need a deity that can sanctify to unholy
but who knows what they have cooking for PC2
I mean yah but I’m assuming they’ll become less, completely evil as the remaster comes out
Like I really struggled to imagine even a neutral tyrant
Irori was the best I could do because they’re unbothered by morality
And just focus on self improvement
yeah it's the 'force people to kneel before you' bit
the moustache-twirling villainy is kind of core to the current identity
The best I can imagine for an irori tyrant is “if you don’t want to kneel, become better then me”
a lot of that will have to change if they aren't going to be the last bastion of alignment
But yah tyrants are usually
Comically evil
I mean
Just the name
You’re self described as a tyrant
I see basically no reason for them to de-evil the evil causes honestly
Champ is the class of moral extremes and thats good
Yah that’s fair
It’s also not like “this character is evil” in the no mechanical meaning is gone
I mean it kinda is
Holy and unholy have kinda replaced it but they aren’t really the same
They deal in more cosmic senses
And even the most extreme champions don’t like, get the holy or unholy trait
Unless they literally become a celestial or fiend
I more mean that it’s fine for former evil champ stuff to still carry a heavy flavor of “you are a massive asshole”
I feel holy/unholy might be a bit underutilized now
Ah
Fair enough
it's really niche now
unless you fight fiends or unholy spellcasters, pretty few things actually have the unholy tag AFAIK
I mean, edicts are still gonna be around
Assumedly liberators edicts are still gonna be 'kiss puppies on their cute little foreheads' and antipaladin is still 'suplex all orphans'
I mean yah but presumably more stuff with get it as get deeper into the remaster
Alignment being gone doesn’t mean evil doesn’t exist, it’s just more subjectively defined and you don’t have an “evil” tag on your very soul
Yah, I guess I’m more dealing in a hypothetical character who could follow a good or neutral god and be one of the evil causes
At least the neutral deities
Alright here comes the hardest thing to do for this game
Choose the token for my BBEG
never an easy choice...
big Paizocon bundle with all the Team+ content is up rn for anyone interested
https://www.pathfinderinfinite.com/product/481828/BUNDLE-Paizocon-2024-BUNDLE
Thoughts on bolt ace/gun tank going into sentinel of abadar after level 5?
Haven't played 1e in a while but I think you get most of the good features out of gunslinger by level 5 so you're probably fine.
I've been looking at a homebrew supplement I got and there's a Fables muse bard and that shit is lodged in my wrinkles
Man I’m not gonna lie
I kinda miss 5e warlock
I want it…. To be in pathfinder
I know witch is similar but idk, patreon doesn’t feel meaty enough for me
You mean thematically, mechanically, or both?
I understand the thematics are different, but Psychic feels kind of similar mechanically
They don't have as many spells but they get more per-encounter powers and juicy unlimited use cantrips
5e Warlock is cool but I prefer the more vague aspect of 2e Witch
It feels more esoteric
Thematically mostly
Mechanically meaty is what I want tho
I want patrons to offer full ass class features
this is a pretty common sentiment with 2e/5e players i feel
and i genuinely think it's because warlock is the most 2e-like class
and if you tried to do a 1:1 conversion their invocations would honestly end up just becoming class feats
so they'd need extra oomph
Bounded spell caster with their patron giving them some weird ass class features and abilities
i think psychics can also be "warlocky" if you reflavour them a lot and lean into the powerful cantrips aspect
remastered witch does have some solid "fucky power" feats
I don't think the 5e warlock would feel that good in PF2 without a lot of changes
Oh for sure
yeah
But I moreso mean like
Though I think you might land on something pretty similar to Psychic with the lot of changes
I think the main thing is that 2e subclasses dont usually change as much as 5e ones
like eldritch blast would just be pretty tame compared to other cantrips i feel
I don’t love witch patrons
I feel like they should really be a huge deal
Your patron should be like… crazy defining
The pactbinder archetype almost feels like the right vibe but is lacking quantity of feats
As it stands they mostly determine spell list which MATTERS but is
Very loosely tied to the patron themselves
Deviant feats feel very warlocky tbh
I might actually make a warlock class sometime
Maybe do the thing I’ve always wanted to do with pacts and have them be really powerful with downsides
Deviant feats do "power at a price" fairly well and pactbinder does "gain a power but get a narrative restriction" well
living vessel can also serve as inspiration i feel
Mhm
But both are mostly limited by only having a few options
The druid AP apperantly has new plant based deviant powers
And some other new class options
Oooh cool
im SO excited for that
Also AON missed the deadline for adding monster cooooore
I hate to keep bitching about it but aggghggjghh
I still want to make an investigator with blasting beams at some point. Its a 1-action 1d6 per 2 levels cantrip-level damage ability, but it uses your attack roll instead of spell attack, so it actually works with investiagor stuff.
The schedule before the remaster was so clean and good……..
It's for a pretty good reason, like if you look at their patreon post about the delay
I think its pretty easy to make a cranked cantrip which you use a lot in principle
I assume Eldritch blast would be more akin to a psychic cantrip rather than a normal one
Like the psychic cantrip system and amps are pretty much how Eldritch Blast for Warlock works. Like they're very similar
Eldritch Electric Arc
That's my feeling as well yeah
I wish this was on their Twitter but yeah that’s fair
Idk I’m just generally frustrated with AON being unreliable post remaster, especially since I’ve been trying to teach some people the game
That's fair! It's annoying when things are late, even if this time they had a good reason
Yeah, it’s just this + the really frustrating initial remaster release that got delayed like 5 times
I just don’t trust when they say they’re gonna do something by a specific date anymore
Yah I definitely feel that
They’re definitely flavored as more, indirect then a warlock patron is
More grand and esoteric then the potentially very personality driven patrons you can have in 5e
dreading the day i gm for a witch and have to fight myself to not rp their familiar as the cat from the ghost stories dub
Consider just doing that
The thing is the 5E patrons are also indirect and impersonal, people just pretend they're actual characters
Not that there's much PREVENTING that but like, all the stories about Patrons showing up and making demands and stuff is kind of "fanon" rather than a precedent set by the books
Hmm. There’s a 4e series about a warlock and IIRC her patron (or at least other devils who were connected) was a pretty regular appearance.
(At least when the patron was regular devils and not “ah fuck, all the Gods are picking favorites and I’m Asmodeus’s pick”
What series?
Erin M. Evans’ Brimstone Angels series, I haven’t actually read much of it - my interest was before I got good at finding books
I have a player currently whose changeling thinks her resentment patron is her hag mother but it's actually going to be an ancient conspirator dragon. She shows up as minor named NPCs all with the same first letters of her first and last name.
I mean I feel there is a difference still in how they’re presented
Witch patrons, both pre and especially post, are more presented as wide archetypes or concepts
Like there is a big difference between a patron being just, a fiend and the patron called the inscribed one
Also the warlock section in the book has a pretty long descriptor of various relationships warlock pacts are often built around
Ahhh okay I thought you meant an Actual Play
You know I may not be giving it enough credit, it's been a minute.
“You command powerful magic, not through study or devotion to any ideal, but as a vessel or agent for a mysterious, otherworldly patron that even you don't entirely understand. This entity might be a covert divinity, a powerful fey, a manifestation of natural energies, an ancient spirit, or any other mighty supernatural being—but its nature is likely as much a mystery to you as it is to anyone else. Through a special familiar, your patron grants you versatile spells and powerful hexes to use as you see fit, though you're never certain if these gifts will end up serving your patron's larger plan.”
Like here’s the opening paragraph to witch
It definitely paints a picture of you not really knowing your patron or the wider implications of your pact with them
"Warlocks are seekers of the knowledge that lies hidden in the fabric of the multiverse. Through pacts made with mysterious beings of supernatural power, warlocks unlock magical effects both subtle and spectacular."
the Warlock flavor also says you might not be very involved with your Patron
you made the pact and that's it mostly
That's about all that's said about the 5e patron, yeah
I coulda sworn the book had more about relationships with patrons
The only difference is that 5e specifies creatures that can be patrons and PF doesn't
Ah
Here it is
Sworn and Beholden
A warlock is defined by a pact with an otherworldly being. Sometimes the relationship between warlock and patron is like that of a cleric and a deity, though the beings that serve as patrons for warlocks are not gods. A warlock might lead a cult dedicated to a demon prince, an archdevil, or an utterly alien entity—beings not typically served by clerics. More often, though, the arrangement is similar to that between a master and an apprentice. The warlock learns and grows in power, at the cost of occasional services performed on the patron’s behalf.
The magic bestowed on a warlock ranges from minor but lasting alterations to the warlock’s being (such as the ability to see in darkness or to read any language) to access to powerful spells. Unlike bookish wizards, warlocks supplement their magic with some facility at hand-to-hand combat. They are comfortable in light armor and know how to use simple weapons.
It wasn’t on the wikidot page for warlocks
As you make your warlock character, spend some time thinking about your patron and the obligations that your pact imposes upon you. What led you to make the pact, and how did you make contact with your patron? Were you seduced into summoning a devil, or did you seek out the ritual that would allow you to make contact with an alien elder god? Did you search for your patron, or did your patron find and choose you? Do you chafe under the obligations of your pact or serve joyfully in anticipation of the rewards promised to you?
Work with your DM to determine how big a part your pact will play in your character’s adventuring career. Your patron’s demands might drive you into adventures, or they might consist entirely of small favors you can do between adventures.
What kind of relationship do you have with your patron? Is it friendly, antagonistic, uneasy, or romantic? How important does your patron consider you to be? What part do you play in your patron’s plans? Do you know other servants of your patron?
How does your patron communicate with you? If you have a familiar, it might occasionally speak with your patron’s voice. Some warlocks find messages from their patrons etched on trees, mingled among tea leaves, or adrift in the clouds — messages that only the warlock can see. Other warlocks converse with their patrons in dreams or waking visions, or deal only with intermediaries.
Ok yah there was way more the wikidot page just, didn’t have
is there any part of 5e's design that isn't 'make the dm do more work'
So the difference is that PF2e doesn't use word count on this
That’s a bit unfair
Because otherwise this is exactly what witch patrons are
There is a difference in dynamic of warlock to patron and witch to patron
The really long bestiary
The difference is that PF2e doesn't say any of this directly
i think the clear boundary is that a witch gets their powers and that's it
Well yah but what you do say does change how it’s seen and played
you get wound up and set off in a direction, off you go
Right from "You Might"
Strive to learn more about your patron or familiar, your patron's goals, why they chose to empower you, and how you fit into their plans.
the general 5e assumption of a master-apprentice relationship where your patron can directly demand things of you and presumably therefore fuck you up if you don't do them
It also states the cleric deity relationship
ooo the idea of making a warlock into a bounded caster is a cool one
I've seen a couple of DnD Beyond-esque character builders for Pathfinder like Pathbuilder, but does anyone have a particular favorite?
Foundry has their own character builder?
pathbuilder is the only game in town for me
Right now I'm just tooling around with making new characters if I'm ever in a game.
Always fun
My standby Maybe Someday character is an orc fighter with a barricade buster, or at least plans to purchase one
It's not that original but I'm entranced by the possibilities
Also love the image of a burly orc lass showing up like "I wield the traditional arms of my people" (whips out a Renaissance Era assault rifle)
Yeah that sounds cool
I've got a concept for a Magus/Psychic and I'd love to make Barbarian
From what I understand, Legacy stuff can be implimented into the new Remaster for the most part.
I think the Barricade Buster was canonically made around the Belkzen area as qell
At least iirc
kinda yeah
Yeah it got imported from Alkenstar
As a result of the odd sort of... Inverse diaspora orcs are experiencing
its inventor studied in alkenstar and then went to belkzen so it could be used against the zombies
What's going on with that inverse diaspora?
And yeah that's the lore behind it
Makes me wonder it Tar Baphon is related to the events of the AP at all
Or if it's purely the fallout of the Orc God Corruption and Gorum's death
I'd be surprised if it had no relevance
Basically what you and Penny said
Fair
My Magus/Psychic is an Ancient Elf with the Occult Librarian background, and the Demonbane Warrior feat.
Niiice
Dual Class or Psychic Archetype?
Multiclass... is that right? I'm still working through the rules.
multiclass would be the archetype, yeah
Okay good, thanks.
Dual Class is an optional rule
more similar to what was called Gestalt in 3.5/PF1
Another fun orc idea: Belkzen native who went to Ustalav as a monster hunter, either for kicks or to learn new undead-fighting tricks
Now, a lot of folks there don't care much for orcs, but they might change their tune if one decapitates enough ghoulies
The Matanji can affirm this idea

Is this late stage sf1e?
it's basically final stage sf1e
Hopefully they port/remake these rules in Starfinder 2e also
If they're too slow I'll just make it myself
One of the few times you can't just jump over to Lancer once mechs are involved, since characters can actually fight mechs without being in one
Titanfall gaming
Less titanfall
More MGRR
Also apparently severed at the root (wardens of wildwood 2) has multiple player options in it
Two barbarian instincts, 2 new druid orders, two kinetic impulses, and some feats for the wood based ancestries
Leshy, Conrasu, Ghoran, as well as the wood geniekin
Also there's 4 new deity statblocks for Green Men
Well, 5
Including a basic green man statblock
"the creature makes a melee attack (reflex save)"??????????????????????????????????????
i hate that about them honestly
they should at least mix it up and have some of them on fort saves or something
yeah, two of my casters just cast mirror image against these guys...
and the use of 'melee attack' to describe a save is funky
also i just put all these golden idiots next to each other and the ALCHEMIST IS HERE
Heads up, Howl is ALREADY in Pathbuilder???????????
oh neat
ostilli dedication is pretty wild
seems like a pretty great third action user on most people
also unusually early access to at-will hidden for your snipers and rogues and so on
Is it up on AoN too?
not that I've seen
it seems very strong, yeah
great filler action for pretty much everyone
hell come to think of it even hide in plain sight at least requires, like, a check
but this is just
hey you want flat footed at range? well,
Howl should be up soon-ish
IIRC they said it got delayed by a week or two
winged warrior also seems cool, cratering dive or w/e it's called might be niche but it's a really cool mental image lol
Clawdancer looks extremely fun
hm
dragon barb winged warrior would be cool as hell thematically
though I feel like all the dragon-ish wings are fairly high level
kobolds can get winglets at like 5...? the barb ones aren't until 12
I'm currently making a Clawdancer Thief Rogue
Going the opposite way from the 'nature' vibes though
Hunter Automaton 👀
Oh does Hunter get a claw attack?
Automaton can take Automaton Armament for a d4 claw
I prefer Hunter cuz it gets the speed boost from free hands (and it fits)
they should let me do clawdancer with the claw weapon
could combine it with the wild mimic to make a weird fella
Yeah sounds great
There's that one surki heritage that can take clawdancer
what's clawdancer?
New archetype in Howl of the Wild
did beastkin get new feats?
No

There's a werecreature archetype
I did hear Beastkin synergizes with Werecreature in some way though
It does
I also heard that
Kinda wanna do like
Maximum forms build
Just grabbing as many possible forms besides my base one
Animal forms, battle forms, pest forms
A master wizard passed by a zoo and decided to give every animal there sapience
As a bit
lol
Beastkin can remove Werecreature's Silver weakness, most notably
would someone mind checking the level and price on Life-Saver Mail (Greater) on page 230 of the GM core?
Is AON wrong?
Greater should be level 20 I think
thanks!
np
It's his time...
Who’s that?
Looks like they're from Armello or something
I meant more like the badgers in thief of tales
They errated the Minotaur reach feat right?
It is a stance now
Yup, Horace from Armello.
Ah ok
That shouldn’t affect my build idea with it though
The only champion stance is everstand but like, that doesn’t work for two handed weapon builds anyway
My brain has cooked up a thing based on the Beginner's Box:
||kinda like Twilight Princess, the first floor of the dungeonnis just a gloomy forest, and possibly more of a point crawl. Shrines in quaint clearings and all. The undead in a hill grave (and possibly more talkative). Second level more like the forest temple, much wood. Maybe a silly fight where players need to get an object from a to b before it dissolves, and while being attacked. 'Throw the chestnut in the hole". And: brain says I gotta do some dumb shit where the kobold dragon mage turns the green dragon wyrmling into a rumoured cryptid, specifically a knockoff of Treerazer. In fact, the first kobold encounter will be against green kobolds who are trying to fell trees. They're abusing the holy forest because they think Treerazer is both a dragon and their progenitor. The wyrmling will be normal once the kobold mage is killed.||
Sounds like the perfect whimsical awakened animal party adventure
True!
So Desna disliked the Dark Tapestry stuff, and her followers hunt down beings from it right?
Or the Black Butterfly rather
I mix up the two
That's OK, Black Butterfly is just Desna's shadow.
Yes to both
Now that my Gatewalkers campaign has died, I'm having all kinds of cool ideas about how to improve the first chapters, lol.
Like what?
The WIP idea is that instead of the Missing Moment happening at the start, ||the PCs are called upon by visions and dreams -- in which they see aiudara and in them, what they desire. Again, the Doctor gathers a bunch of fellow compulsion-sufferers and they check out Sevenarches. The whole Kaneepo stuff would, hope, be more compelling because the PCs really want that key and to walk through a gate. And once they do, the Missing Moment proper, occurs. Afterwards, they find themselves on Castrovel, an alien planet, with their memories missing. I suppose since alien planets tend to keep a different calendar, other signs of time having passed would be necessary, although it could also be a scarier revelation later. I'd also emphasise Sevenarches being relatively mundane for a fantasy world, describing plant and animal life in particular, so that Castrovel will be weirder by contrast. Basically, I want the Sevenarches and Thinlands parts to feel less like a distraction from the PCs goals.||
I'll also apologise for posting about the first few bits of GW a lot. I'd move on if my campaign had. :P
Gatewalkers is definitely worth it for book 3 when it really comes into its own but it’s pretty awkward til then
Change it to 11-20, make the deviant powers worth using
Also like … honestly the toughest part about Gatewalkers is that it’s all kind of loosely strung together
First you fight a druid cult and a fey lord (who is inexplicably someone you can fight at level 2), then you go to another planet and learn about a space whale, then to a ruin in the icy north, and then you … become pirates?
That’s as far as my group got
I hear at the end you don’t even fight the space whale (but in 11-20 you could fix this)
The whole thing lacks connective tissue
I want to emphasize this sounds cooler and more gonzo than it feels
haha
So it needs more connective tissue
It needs the missing moment stuff to be more integrated and more interesting
It needs the deviant powers to be good
Instead of “power attack that has a 20% chance of screwing you over”
And it needs to be higher level
Those are my objections
This Tuesday, I explained to a friend who doesn't play RPGs how there are paranormal pehnomena "which even magic can't explain". He laughed quite a lot. :D
Yeah, all very reasonable.
Does falling unconscious when you're standing simultaneously knock you prone?
You always go prone when you become unconscious, with a few exceptions like Sleep
yeah its part of the condition
You’re sleeping, or you’ve been knocked out. You can’t act. You take a –4 status penalty to AC, Perception, and Reflex saves, and you have the blinded and flat-footed conditions. When you gain this condition, you fall prone and drop items you are wielding or holding unless the effect states otherwise or the GM determines you’re in a position in which you wouldn’t.
Is it normal for Paizo to play non Paizo TTRPGs at Paizo con, or is this a hint?
Oh, they are big fans of Cthulu over there
yeah thier big fans of cthulhu
Paizo also, unlike WotC, does not currently benefit from the TTRPG market contracting
More tabletop players means more people will find their way to Pathfinder
They want other games to do well
(Not to unseat them, mind)
(But to keep people engaged with the hobby)
Turns out when you know that you don't have to stick to just one game, more games being out there is good for everyone
And it’s good PR to publicize that
I recall one of the Strange Aeon books opens with basically praise for Call of Cthulhu and how to play Pathfinder characters in CoC
Honestly Paizo is in a great place right now from a PR perspective for reasons that are largely unrelated to anything corporate or the veteran devs have done
The unionization was amazing press too
Also that, yeah
Tian Xia had a ton of good press as well, a lot of it from indie devs who worked on it.
“Paizo let me come in and write cool, culturally accurate stuff to rehabilitate their version of fantasy Asia. Check it out!”
Like we had that happen here
Almost every one of those indie devs with a fanbase or a discord will have given a tangible press boost to Pathfinder
Looking like the biggest good guy in the industry is not a small thing
Is it true? No comment, but it’s easy to believe
Yeah
Paizos in a good place right now. All things considered
They're also probably the biggest company that isn't WotC?
Could be wrong
Almost certainly, I want to say
Chaosium is uhh… not doing as well, White Wolf… idk, and ffg is struggling as well
No idea who the other big names are
(That aren’t just 3pp companies like Kobold Press)
White Wolf is basically a holding company owned by Paradox, who licenses out its properties mostly to Onyx Path Publishing
Which makes its gameline development cycle really slow due to the fact that the OPP writers and devs need to send everything over to Paradox for proofreading
OPP has its own IPs too
Gnoll/Kholo Exemplar is on my mind again
I know they're not properly out yet but the concept is on my mind, and I'm wondering how I'd make it work fluffwise
Ye the demigod class, not the paladin class :v
Gifts from your ancestors
Ate the mummified flesh of heroic ancestors to receive of their power
seems it is confirmed now that Mythic will work like FA
you get a Calling, which is the general type of power you get
and you get mythic feats based on your Calling, which are apparently more powerful than regular ones
and you also get mythic proficiency, so you might actually be able to go above the usual numbers?
Seems like it’s similar to FA but separate
Which is nice
So you can presumably run both at once
Anything else they talked about regarding WoI?
This looks interesting
ACHEKAK?
if it is Achaekek, that adventure featuring the Red Mantis is gonna have to explain some stuff
since Achaekek isn't supposed to kill full gods
Shit must have really hit the fan
HOLY SHIT WHAT
It might also be the new Rovagug spawn
True
that was my first thought
They did mention that
Grandmother spider is like "are you for fucking real rn"
Wait did they mean the Orc God thing as the spawn of Rovugug
Or is there both that and new spawn
if it is Achaekek, either his rule got broken somehow
or Gorum did something that would make him a valid target
What would imply the latter?
Yeah I thought it was an infection or something
Yeah, he got too close
some kind of corruption or parasite would make sense
It looks like this might be some sort of "bunch of very bad things happening in very short order"
That's most definitely the Red Mantis in the image
From what I'm reading
also we watch Gorum die in the red mantis AP so....
The death of Gorum weakens the barriers holding Rovugug back
Oh
Didn't know rhat part
Yeah they said he got fucked up by Rovagug and twisted into a spawn
What if he's been framed?
Wait, Gorum got fucked? Or the Orc god?
Gorums killed by his good twin brother, the purple mantis!
The orc god
Got it, just wanted to clarify
I hope this also happens at the same time the curtain call ap ends
So it all seems nice and dandy, but as your characters exit the theater
It begins to rain.
I’m currently debating with myself on if I should stay true to my previous descriptions and include a balcony on this battle map
Apparently operatives have proficiency in guns, like that is the wording they use
Because on the one hand I already said the place has one and it might make for a more interesting fight
But man running two floors of a map on a VTT is so annoying
They start at expert in simple and martial, and trained in advanced and non guns
also either this is a typo, or you can get expert at level 1
presumably via the operative
I'm still reeling at the WoI bombshell
Wait the books out?
Ohhhh
I still think its Kakehca, the purple mantis
Holy shit gorum tried to become Double God
- Acarchekrk only kills people trying to become gods
- Acaerckrhk killed Gorum
- Gorum was already a god
- Gorum must have been trying to become Double God.
In SF2, there is aparently a spell that can deal "over 9000" damage.
OVER 9000...
There is also a carcinization spell
As God intended
Theres also a cantrip that can't effect newborns
at least in lore. Mechanically it works
From the future!
Pre-circumcize them
the mystery of zon shelyn has been solved by a reveal of a spread from the adventure where aucturn hatches
You've heard of precrime, this summer are you ready for-
that is unclear if it was supposed to be player facing info
as much of this segment has been
Multiarm rules for SF2 (for now, these are one of the things they most want player feedback on): swap arms from the field test, but without any traits what so ever
So it can never trigger any reaction unless it triggers off of literally any action or calls out swap arms explicitly
👀
Give It To Me
(If you can, I know you sometimes drop Hints but cannot reasonably elaborate on them due to how you sourced them)
oh no this isn't one of those this is from paizocon
i mean the Red Mantis always did play fast and loose with their allegedly sacred strictures
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
AEIRGIOWGNIERINBTEDPKBGTRPINEPFIQNDIQ3PIFBURGSBNRWVV R
HOOTING AND HOLLERING
Its everything I wanted out of that funky-ass name
since the Red Mantis helped Queen Ileosa orchstrate her husband's death, even if they didn't do the deed themselves
oh call of the wild is in foundry
In Starfinder yea
Its in the second paragraph or so of the bigass spread above
oh wait this is in Starfinder
i thought it had something to do with the gods war in PF
CULT OF THE DAWNFLOWER MENTIONED
All the loreheads are eating good today
Incredible tech difficulties today
i need to play this so fucking bad
Well I just woke up time to watch paizo con
Is there a higher res version of this?
Nope. The stream is not very high quality
Yeah whatcha see is what ya get unfortunately
WAIT SHIT
That isn't a planet
That's the thing from Aucturn that hatched
Is it benevolent (insofar as an outer god can be benevolent)?
It is a literal newborn. I’m not sure it has the capability to be anything other than amoral
I think that’s unclear
It’s an eldritch thing so it might have spawned with like
A fully formed consciousness
Or something equally alien
At the very least, Shelyn saw it as worth protecting
I’m sorry, I love Shelyn, but I’m not sure I trust her “should be protected” standards
From what I can parse from the image it's a Newborn Outer God
Fucking same
Ooo new class formatting
Actually I’m wondering if they’re gonna like
Reprint the common PF2E ancestries
Because if the games are compatible content wise they kinda don’t have to remake them
But like I assume they’d want to anyway because launching a game for a setting where “human” is a pretty common species and not have human as a selectable ancestry would be weird
reprints coming up
Even if it was technically selectable becomes of how it works
Oh what book?
Ahhh neat
dragonblood is new tho
remaster for kobolds aswell I think
Because dragon sorcs already cover people with draconic heritage I feel
im hoping sorcerer gets a make over
Well the ones who’s heritages give them power anyway
In what way?
Fair enough
Why do the iconics look superimposed there?
Okay then remove duskwalker too bc there's a psychopomp bloodline
i kinda find it funny that barathu are core now
And the fiendish/celestial bloodlines cover that, so no need for aasimar or tieflings
now you can just be a fuckin gas jellyfish
To be fair I forgot that was a thing
ok, but not everyone is a sorcerer
and some people want to do dragon shit
some people jsut wanna be dragon dudes.
Also yah I’m seeing the benefits now
plus nephalim exist in player core 1
this is just the rest of the versitiles so far
Though I am still wondering why it specifies arcane
If there’s no primal, occult or divine
Though I guess those may come later
becuase thats just example art
Oh I thought it was listing the heritages
theres obviously primal , occult and divine dragon blood
most likely you choose based on waht feat you have
for at the start
oh also new gods
Emeton looks like he’d call someone a fine chap
yeah ive not seen that part of the stream, but they look cool
@frank crystal ok thing they said about the dragonblooded
you can customize them alot, depending on what kind of dragon you want to have stuff from , you can mix and match
you can chosoe a breath weapon, or you can choose to fly and various stuff like that
Ah neat
appearently its flexible
player core 2 classes
every class got changes, but the champion, alchemist and the oracle changed the most
I’m really curious to hear the alchemist changes
Apparently swash got changed too
But I heard that through the grapevine in another server a while ago
I have no concrete evidence
swash no longer needs panache to activate some abilities
i think
SO FUCKING COOL
COSMIC WHALE COSMIC WHALE
That's the second one in PF2e
Shout out to this art
wiat those arent part of the hat !?
archfiend and apocalypse rider
mythic endings
Nice
She's a Nephilim iirc
What are those?
Neat
😄 familiar sage is like megumi from jjk
except the summoned familiar wont kill you
uhhh the art is of " Seal of the Golden dragon" which wrapps your familiar around you to share defense and resistance
" lightening rings " whereyour familiar transfomrs into lightening rings and gives you electricity damage and shit like that
and Blazing Conflagaration where you fuse with your familiar to become a phoenix
to name a few
Apparently the only class archetypes in WotI are battle harbinger and Palatine detective
Please note, blood rager is in WotI
pretty sure there was more ?
Apparently it’s a regular archetype
Blood rager wizards are apparently a thing
Oh shit I might actually be able to play my fuse eidolon character then
Just not as a summoner
Full quote
Bloodrager is in War of Immortals though, all 5 of those are class archetypes iirc
Although I believe Luis Loza is on the list omens team not the rulebook team, so they may be mistaken. That “I believe” bit is throwing me off
Bloodrager as general feels weird to me
It was just a class in 1e right?
Yes
lol nahoa , the exemplar was fighting a " demon bird in the sky " when gorum died and was hit by god stuff.
turning him into a nephelim AND exemplar
Si
so
Calling.
Callings are going to work similar to the free archetype rule.
every character gets one
early on in a story , a character comes into contact with something that imbues them with mythic power and a calling
like the ones above I thin kwere like ...
Callings seem to be like 1e, sort of general things
the archefiend calling and the Apocalypse rider calling
literally become an archfiend or one of the 4 horsemen
each calling pushes into different feats, for mythic stuff
also Mythic proficency
beyond legendary
ok, nvm , mythic destenies
apocalypse rider and archfiend are destinies
uhh Prophesized monarch is also another one
which doesnt have to be like a ruler
it could easilly just be a fuckin luffy XD
ok mythic sounds pretty cool actualy
mythic monster: The Immortal Trickster
a mythic creature associated with foxes, coyotes and ravens and other stuff.
one of its abilities is that when it would die, it just swaps places with another fox , coyote or raven within 100 miles
Wheres all this starfinder content coming from?
paizocon
So twitch?
ye
Gotcha
im watching an 8 hour stream of the first day and screen capping
Also I think they already told us the starting ancestries
In the QnA
But good to have it reconfirmed
well I am only 3 hours in lol
also you can see it on the side of the page
I meant the QnA a month ago
Ancestries: android, barathu, human, kasatha, lashunta, pahtra, shirren, skittermander, vesk, ysoki
And for vesatile ancestries: borai, prismeni```
Ye
my notes from another server
so alot of people speculated that the Avenger would be the new inquisitor
nah its Sadim, the Slayer from 1e
The Avenger, is a divine archetype of the rogue
" For many years , I killed without hesitation at the behest of a cult that claimed to server the dawnflower. My people are good. My Goddess is good. surely any action I take on thier behalf, matter how grim, must also be good. no?" " Such was my thinking till I met Kira and she revealed the hypocrisy in my thoughts and the actions of those who trained me and pointed me at my targets " " I see now that the shadow I walked in was not cast by my goddess, but by her flawed mortal servants. I will be a blade for a goddess, but I will not kill for the whims of men." What then am I to do? What life is there for a man trained since birth bring death who's heart belongs to a goddess that demands that we offer redemption?" -Sadim , the Avenger.
( also sorry for my horrible sentence structure, I was doing my best )
duuuuuuudddeee
Prey for Death, during that adventure we are here for the killing blow on gorum
like we are THERE
Ye it's nuts
They said the players will witness it happen
I guess half the AP will be surviving the aftermath
pantheons getting religious symbols
Covenants. which are like ... powers that come from a concept Or like a hting as a whole
for example Breath of the endless skie is divine power from air elementals, the plane of air and a ton of other air shit all together
good neighbors is the power of community
( gods can grant covenants too
or like house hold spirits
Pathfinder hot fuzz where all the villagers gain divine power from fucked up version of Good Neighbors
also mortal herald is both a archetype and a divine destiny
yeah ?
They just smushed the name together
thiers not the same XD
I wonder if that's intentional
i think its just a cultural similar spelling convention for names
Probably
Isn’t Azaersi a title that technically means “unkillable”?
Like she wasn’t born with that name, she took it after she survived the Goblinblood Wars
Sadim getting even more Divine power is absolutely hilarious tbh
Oh hey
||treerazer AP||
Also apparently we will see Dead God's Hand at some point
not in 2024
Dead Gods Hand?
According to someone on another server
||Elf adventure path, there is some conference about increased activity from Tar Baphon. Treerazer decides this is the time to kill all the elves and begins an offensive. You act as an offensive vanguard taking the fight to him. levels 11-20. Not created with mythic rules but might be included later on.||
Love a good 11-20
may i offer a truly incomprehensible meme from my session
👀
I don't get it 😌
for some context, they needed to crit succeed to find a rabbit
and every time they didn't crit the party sent them back to the woods to try again
oh i love absolutely incomprehensible memes from campaigns
I got to bust out the dracula flow during our kingmaker game last night
Apparently this guy was supposed to go invisible and run away 😭
lmao
might i share one of my personal favourites from my own game
And Kalt instantly went into 'hide the body' mode once it was revealed ||this guy was a fellow stag lord hunter||
oh wait I only just clocked the name lmaoooo
Mhm
We were all like
'oh'
'well alright'
I mean I've played a fair amount of the CRPG but uhhh
Also us coming out of the cave afterwards looking for a place to bury the body:
My first assumption was someone used https://2e.aonprd.com/Spells.aspx?ID=689
You channel disruptive energies through the bond between you and your minion, causing it to violently explode. The target is immediately slain, and the explosion deals 6d6 fire damage to creatures within 20 feet of it (basic Reflex save). If the target has the cold or water trait, the spell instead deals cold damage and gains the cold trait in p...
idle thought: I wonder what a focus spell version of this would do for the viability of 'summoning' builds ||or make it 1-action||
It’s really funny that I’m thinking about that Monster Tactics blog idea
And my current concept for goblins is “their tactics are to be impulsive as fuck and fix the problems they create after the fact”
So oracles and swashbucklers are getting quite the glow up
Oracle focus spells don’t increase your curse anymore, instead they get unique abilities like a free action widen spell to increase them. Each mystery also gets twice the domains and a dedicated bonus spells list like sorcerers
Swashbucklers are getting a new thievery based style, a whole new page of content, and much easier ways of getting panache.
Also, synesthesia is coming back
the 'gaining panache' thing is what I'm really curious about because imo their biggest flaw was tempting people into loop-based gameplay
my pitch was just, like, they should get it on all skill actions
Also, npc core is coming
Champs are looking to be real good
doing a whole npc book?
these all sound pretty good so far
thank god finally
Starfinder ancestries are looking promising
'cleaning up the wording of pursue a lead' is one of those things that could be a fairly major or minor change
skill Stratagem is... interesting
wonder if it's getting nerfed
though I hope not
dedicated bonus spells list like sorcerers
thank god, they really needed it
This is good, I made an oracle recently and they really are lacking something
Can someone provide said write up
is there any word on scaling acrobatic for swashbuckler
probably not
lame
I don’t think they need it THAT bad personally
Like it’d be nice but if they’re getting reworked fully they might not need it anymore
If there’s multiple new ways
To get panache
luis "there's no precedent for scaling skills in classes" loza
yeah that's why I don't expect it
(there is precedent)
It is definitely weird that he keeps saying that
sounds like Alchemists might actually become more like focus casters?
unless I'm misreading that
yeah that's
difficult to assess without the actual deets really
sounds like a pretty fundamental overhaul of their resource economy at the very least
… this is reminding me how much I’ve soured on PF 2e’s skill system
And the surrounding interaction with classes
what specifically, just the number of skill increases you get?
Versatile Vials sound very focus spells like
mostly the bit about being able to regain them in Exploration makes me think focus like
I think it's good though
Alchi really needed a class based way to contribute reliably in fights IMO
It seems also like maybe Vials aren’t gonna be something you can like
Give out
Which Alchemist also needed
Imo
Like I hope YOU have to be the one to use your vials
Mhm
I do hope alchemist winds up less medicine-cabinet-y
What, were cantrip like bombs at level 7 not good enough
*cantrip like bombs only one subclass got, and everyone else needed to spend a feat to even get up to that level
Do y’all think weakness to critical hits is a good way to represent a troop of zombies being especially shitty and decayed?
also unrelated, but Champions apparently have an aura now
which is interesting
I assume the reaction will also key off the aura now
do they already have the usual zombie weaknesses?
Oh yeah lol
Oracles getting a buff is so exciting
Also, apparently the SF2 soldier can be used in PF2 without any changes
That seems hard when half the class seems to be based on heavy machine guns
cyth-v'sug's failson
Is that from Wardens of Wildwood?
nope, upcoming Elf AP
sdee here
Treerazer is such a hater
Spore war
is that what the AP is called?
Ues
Nice
Here's the official tweet
watching the starfinderi n transition stream
Keep us updated on.... updates
so alot of freelancers and work they had at the time during the OGL....
uhhh they payed for it and thier still gonna use it, just gotta port it to sf2e
such as this which would have been a cover for a faction guide they were gonna come out with
that would have been a big archetype book
other book that never got assigned to frelancers before the OGL bullshit , wassssssssss " The Extraplanar archive "
never got past version 0
and it was gonna have the planes of wood and metal.
uhh a ton of new outsiders.
uhhh they also wanted to do like a heavy armored combat caster.
that would have drawn on the power of planes and stuff
and then ogl happened right as they finished the outline
we also lost a mech book
and a big adventure path that thurston describes as " adaucious that he needed to talk to james jacobs about .... "
if it was cool for him to even do it
uhhhh, but thurston also said " im nott gonna name it , but we still plan to do it "
also artist credit
oooooo
" Keeping the Cantina open " talking about the difference in like how to keep starfinder big on the aliens ancestries nad stuff
Thurston(paraphrased on my part): usually in in sf1e, we had a paragraph most of the time for a race and then throw in a stat block and say good luck. but for starfinder 2e, we bring in the expectation of heritages and feats and thats really exciting"
Dustin Knight: All the feats and options add so much depth to an ancestry, be it mechanics and lore. like for example, Kitsune fox fire, its not in the ancestry description but it exists in mechanics. it adds alot more characterization than just having a side bar with your stat adjustments and some race abilities. Im really excited to do these 4-6 page ancestries.
lol thurston paraphrasing the early discussion on ancestries in starfinder 2e
" yo dog, I heard some of these ancestries can fly!"
classic barathu
now a core ancestry
new barathu art, that sadly didnt make it into the playtest book
Barathu just fly at first level lol
Barathu as a core ancestory is uhh... a good sign.
I demand the cocktail squid!
I still wish that starfinder wasn't restricted by being fully pf2e compatible - Pf2e isn't great with mobile ranged fighters, and the tradition-based spell lists are annoying.
shirren can get wings now
they have said its fully compatable, the meta is jsut different
so barathu can borrow the genectics of other ancestries
by touch
and mimic different abillities
android art
Class spell lists are far more annoying imho
Especially in a game with as many classes as pathfinder
This was in the first playtest doc iirc
So a versatile android ancestry? Neat
im guessing what thier referencing isssssss Xenometric android
classic alien archive pahtra
heritages added to the pahtra mentioned:
The Sandcat pahtra
they be smoll
thurston : " alot of people have been saying the Catina is dead now, and sure we arent having as many tiny stat blocks that give you a +4 to intelegence that you pick always becuase it gives you a +4 "
but as you can see, these pahtra are radically different , and what we are intending to do is make this the case for ALL ancestries.
would love to see waht they do for grey
As in Greys?
ye
The "generic" alien?
yea, with the remaster is a +2 now
I feel like they probably won't be an ancestry
yes
Thought it was just NPCs
My main interest in SF2e Ancestries is uhhh
SRO
Though iirc they said they'd come in a later book
also they had stuff like the Gray Bounder.
Wouldn't be surprised if they come in the inevitable "tech book"
Also every non comic book will likely have an ancestry
Like what Secrets of Magic did for pf2e
As in like, every module?
—From the personal journal of Steward Reyard Maldun```
Or every expansion
Everything.
Oh nice
*other than comic books
Still, that's a lot
all APs are now in comic form
That's about what it was for 1e, so I'm glad.
yeah the Gray for the most part are like .... a part of the unseen
which is a pseudo faction that was like many conspiracy aliens
Mhm
(Less actually, but the 1e rate was insane.)
like uhhh the now non existant reptoids
of ocurse the grays and the reptoids were at war lol
