Anyways
I'm tempted to insert Anzenmezzeron into Golarion but I'm unsure how. Maybe an extraplanar city that exists beyond the (commonly known) multiverse?
how is it for balance?
it was written by one of the main guys who developed pf2e itself
everything i saw of it seemed really solid balance-wise
but like, i'd take his word over mine
if anything, it's overpowered in the sense that there are a TON of options
my baseline assumption is that game designers don't know anything about game balance but i have a good opinion of mark
I mean
Mark was the leader of the balance team iirc
So presumably he knows what he's doing
i mean, i kind of think of that when i see some APs, but the main books have been really solid
the sourcebooks i mean
the pf2 core is like 90-95% rock solid and from what i've seen remaster goes some way to addressing the remainder
i'm not super delved with the lore but maybe the world wound? grave lands? might be something there to work out of
everything outside that is a roll of the dice in my view
yeah i think you can just airdrop that into geb or something right?
True
I suppose there is an appeal to it being like, a mythical place where Death is absent, but thinking about it Geb also works well
golarion is kinda designed to not need multiverse stuff to pull off this kind of thing
Yeah the Boneyards works in a weird sense?
the kitchen sinkest setting
It seems like a place that's completely affront to Pharasma yet for one reason or another exists outside her grasp
(The Abhorrers are totally heretic Pharasmans, though)
which ones were the abhorrers again
Or Hallowed Necromancers, forgot that's a thing
Warrior Priests Necromancers who use necromancy to fight necromancy
They're the ones with the Priest aesthetic and katanas
Draconic Ravager is very cool yeah
Player side draconic frenzy đł
Also you can become large at level 8, Huge at level 12, and Gargantaun at level 18
Note this isn't Enlarged. You just become bigger
Seems like what I've always wanted
Which is playing Dragon Eidolon summoner but with no summoner
Without gimping myself mechanically
I do recommend the level 10 Size Shifting feat
So the higher levels become uh, less restrictive
Yeah, though you lose all draconic benefits for obvious reasons
tom just cannot miss with aesthetics i love his work so much but yea abhorrers fit very well as pharasman heretics, except for the color maybe i don't think pharasma is into yellow
(That honestly seems a BIT weird, given all the dragon statblocks say 'hey this doesn't actually change their stats, that old lady whose a magma dragon in disguise WILL haymaker you to death with draconic frenzy still)
Eh, player side balance
Being able to become Large (or bigger) with no downside beyond what comes with the size is already strong
Among other reasons
I personally like the Draconic Diehard class archetype you can attach to any class
It buffs all your "natural" stuff (like natural weapons) bur it means you can't wear armor or use weapons or all that
I enjoy Dragon Diehard Fighter
Partially because the Size makes things fun with Reactive Strike
Among other reasons
theres the sidebar that says "so these dragons don't fly and are medium sized to fit the balance. if you think these things shouldn't be so you can give all your players flying for free if you're ready to face the consequences it will have for gameplay"
Monk is also good for unarmed reasons
Oh huh
Diehard basically makes Ravager your class huh?
I think the wording would Fuck Up thaumaturge pretty bad
With the can't activate permanent held items thing
You can grab perma flight actually, its just a later level thjng
16 I think?
At least with Draconic Ravager
13 actually
As an ancestry feat
Well also that
which tells me a lot of the things that work for players differently than it works for dragon creatures are consciently balance decisions
But you need to get the Level 7 feat as well
ik, but like people will find it weird low level dragons don't fly
While the level 16 version in Ravager has no feat tax
I mean, Automatons need to breath and can get disease
Though
Now that minotaurs are gonna be large by default
I think making your dragon large wouldn't break much
Given young dragons are large
Aren't Minotaurs coming with a "Reach is still limited" stipulation
Or am I misremembering
Having said that yeah, it makes sense
which is also weird
i really wanted some version of playable construct that works like construct, such as imune to both void and vitality, poisons, diseases and can be repaired by crafting
My point is more player side balance trumps lore, per se
like i understand the balance reasons for they going with what they did
Yeah
It has not been said outright yet but I assume they'll just be 2x2 squares with 5 foot reach yeah
oh we're reinforcing the same point
Man, I kind of wish I discovered this earlier lol
Doing season of ghosts, would have loved to play an imperial dragon (if my group was down)
I love my catboy tho, all is good
I'll find some other place to do this
I played a Black Dragon Fighter w/ Draconic Diehard in the Ruleslawyer kingmaker game
It was fun
one of my favorite ancestries is fairies because they allow you to be tiny
Sadly didn't last very long but, yeah
I'm currently building out a Sovereign Dragon Thaum, a Green Dragon Psychic, and am considering a Forest Dragon Draconic Diehard Flurry Ranger
As Draconic frenzy seems,,,
Yeah
coiling frenzy is pretty wild
i guess the damage dice are never going to be spectacular but i don't think there's much improved grab out there on the player side
And itâs still only regular grab, not improved grab.
Well coiling frenzy still has the pre-remaster Grab wording of 'automatically grappled'
But yeah this fucks
Dragon Eidolon has always greatly appealed to me
Because you get to have a Crumb of player side monster moves
And draconic ravager is All That
ok so
our gm is giving us a free feat as long as it fits what our characters have been up to so far
and it cant directly boost damage
we are level 16
this is pf1
i have looked at defic obedience and have gotten slight headaches
so far my monk has: been thrown several hundred feet in the air by a snake kaiju and failed to land safely, been relentlessly parried and riposted in a single round by a level 12 swashbuckler to near-death
they are also the one in the party that insists on saving the world out of a sense of duty
they feel they aren't strong enough to protect people still
and due to initial arrogance that comes from being level 16 without a worthy challenge for a while is constantly targeted for jabs by our arcanist and gunslinger
cool stuff so far:
did chunky damage to a ancient magma dragon, then got teleported to the feywild (convenient since we were going there anyway) via prismatic spray
kept up with a vampire lord that had its soul fused with an ancient black dragon, still lost but had it on the ropes plus it became a pseudo party member
shadow of the collossus'd the aforementioned snake kaiju and sliced its head up real good
Okay I've decided that if I ever get into a blood lords game I'm gonna seriously pursue playing an Umbral Dragon Spirit Barbarian
Went to Geb cuz thats where the undead are, and is sophisticated enough to realize there's probably enough Nasty Politics there that she can have her favorite food as an assassin/problem solver rather than a serial killer
I'm going to be in one soon! I'm a skeleton kineticist, originally a necromantic experiment to test if the connection to the elemental realm could be sustained after being raised as undead. My original necromancer deemed it a failure because I was mindless at first. I gained my sense of self over time and with it came my Kinetic gate
Kinda figuring things out now, but after some controversy within the carter's guild, I've struck out on my own
I'll find my ambition along the way
Lovely
I love Monster Politics
oooh
.....Fatalis would make pretty good art for an umbral dragon huh
I'm building a spellcaster and it has been a long ass time so I need to check something: When a Cantrip says "Heightened" for increased efficacy that means when you gain access to spell slots of a level greather than 1st equal to the number right? So +1 is 2nd level sots, but +2 is 3rd level slots?
Yes
not spell slots, Cantrips are auto increased to your spell casting level
so when you've got 2nd level slots, your cantrips count as 2nd level for the purpose of heightening
Yeah that's what I thought
Level 8 means 4th level slots meaning only 1 damage increase for Haunting Hymn
So this weeks dead god has a two syllable name, so Desna, Gorum, Gozreh, Nethys, Shelyn, or Torag.
A lot of good picks, Gozreh seems like a good one to give us now, unless they want to go into fan favorites
The rest make a lot of sense to leave to the last 10 to build suspense
I'm gonna guess Desna or Torag
Also I forget. Is Shelyn or Saranrae Zon-Kuthon's sister?
Shelyn
Figured, just wanted to check
Also side comment, but last week's death makes me wonder what the relationship between the 3 ascended gods are
Since in last week's entry they teamed up when gods started dying
There is a theory that Norbenger is the one who dared Calen to do the test of the starstone
Wasn't Norgrober already a god at that point?
I think calen was first, but I donât know my timelines
Well, there goes that theory
Iomadae is a relatively young goddess
Though I'm curious who we'll see ascend next
||Geb maybe? Even if he is unrelated to the Starstone|||
I think a God of Monsters and Outcasts who isn't Lamashtu would be neat
Even if Lamashtu got a little bit better this Remaster
Ascended Gnoll or Fleshwarp God could be neat
Yeah. I uhh... am not a fan of them trying to make Lamashtu less horrid, and specifically "oh, she's the goddess of misunderstood outcasts" is particularly not something I like.
Like, reduce the grimdark nonsense in her lore, sure. Make her into some non-malevolent deity... no.
i think there's no easy way to do lamashtu
nobody would blink an eyelid if she got airdropped into runequest or something
There's maybe an angle of "She exploits vulnerable people to her own ends" that you could do.
... but that does actually make her a viable target for ganking, with Arazni stepping in.
I think also itâs interesting to say that outcasts, and especially those with physical deformities, may turn to Lamashtu for aid and will be welcomed with open arms
That doesnât make her not horrible, she explicitly wants to make her followers Worse, but the answers she offers may be legitimately attractive to some questions
She offers succor, strength, and acceptance
All she asks for is your principles
And what have those ever done for you?
god of gamergate
To the thirsty, she gives the strength to live without water. To the hungry, the cunning to always find a meal. You can ask another god. They might answer.
horrifyingly accurate
Or you can ask Lamashtu for the fangs and claws you need to kill and eat a motherfucker
sometimes you do just need to kill and eat a motherfucker tbh
Are you in pain? Lamashtu can take it from you
everyone would be doing it though
Does your heart ache? She can tell you how to get what you want. What you deserve, because you want it.
Lamashtu is the love that seeks to make you worse, the acceptance that you should question, the counsel that reeks of cruelty.
if nothing else lamashtu aint gonna fuckin victim blame you
But she has love, and acceptance, and counsel.
Like all gods she is right after a fashion. She is deeply wise.
Her truth is real. Itâs also awful, maybe find a better truth.
There are other gods, other answers.
Itâs just ⌠maybe theyâre not what you want.
Maybe theyâre not what you need.
(Or at least think you need.)
This has been: gk pontificates about Lamashtu
Furious finisher seems kinda neat even if falls behind at later levels
do you guys think that
exploit vulnerability
stops regeneration
if they're triggering a weakness to the damage type that disables their regen
No
You're not actually dealing that damage type, just triggering the weakness as if you were
Does it say that the weapon acts as if it's that damage type in general, or just that it applies the extra damage?
Your unarmed and weapon Strikes activate the highest weakness you discovered with Exploit Vulnerability, even though the damage type your weapon deals doesnât change.
Yeah it seems to me like the weakness only changes
Technically speaking regen and weaknesses aren't tied
Its just that practically speaking most monsters with regen and a weakness have their regen shut off by that
fair yeah
Now that said
I def think thaum turning regen off is more FUN
And don't think it breaks the game if you can put down trolls super easy as a thaum
regen is a pretty big ticket item to be fair
it usually costs double the regen value in base hp
Regen is one of those encounter-defining things.
Moreso than even a weakness or resistance.
Thaum is already pretty strong
Having said that
Having "disable regeneration" as a sub option of that one feat that can ignore resistance as opposed to inflict weakness could work
tarrasque btfo
My hot tarrasque take is that if you're gonna have kaiju in the game, the tarrasque should just be one of those
It doesn't have to be an entity you can fight
I know it's tradition
It feels odd
Because kaiju are sort of implemented as like
A complex of hazards, right?
And Tarrasque is suppppppppooooosssseeddllllyyy about as big as them and has done considerably more property damage on average but is a statblock
It's probably because the Tarrasque us known as basically the ur-monster and people want to fight it
Let me climb down the tarrasque's throat and get in a fight with its heart
and then climb inside its heart and fight its hearts heart
World Revolution intensifies in the background
honestly 'really, really big monster as a whole-ass dungeon' seems like a pretty sick way to close out a campaign
i had the never-dying corpse of the god of earthbound beasts as a dungeon once, they had to fight their way through various parasite-infested organs to get to the king of the mind flayers
Was the king of the mind flayers gonna plug itself into the god brain and puppet it around
eat the god-brain
no, he was just chilling there running a society of demon-summoning mind flayers who ate ethically-sourced brains derived from the eternally bleeding wounds of the slain god
the players decided they were going to resurrect all the gods so that would have had, you know
consequences
strength of thousands book 4 spoiler. ||a dungeon wants me to throw 3 iron golems at the party. should i tweak this? golem antimagic is a pain||
||Depends on what spells they've got. If they've got the right spells to counter it should be fine. Like electric arc will straight up slow 2 of them. And if they've got acid damage, that's gonna tear through the golems pretty quick.||
||actually, good point. The wizards fall-back is electric arc. The pyro bomber can pivot to acid vials, the Magus might be in a bit of trouble though||
||yeah, I'd definetly either straight up tell them the anti-magic stuff or like give very strong "YOU CAN (and should) RECALL KNOWLEDGE" type reminders. Anti-magic isnt perfect but it does make players have to think about fights differently, which I think is good.||
So hereâs a fix that is straight form monster core
Give them spell resistance equal to their physical resistance instead that bypassable by the trait that would harm them in their antimagic
And then throw out antimagic
And it comes highly reccomended by me
Iâve been just applying it to them in my campaigns and itâs so much better oh my god
I'll note that bombs won't interact with antimagic
Since alchemical items are not magical
Hey can anyone attest to the quality of Battlezooâs year of monsters?
Itâs pretty expensive to get with the foundry module
It's good, but expensive
That's my take on it, having bought it
I think you're better off buying what interests you as opposed to everything
Ah, my gm got a copy of it anyway
Do you think/hope starfinder will make Trick Driver more useful?
I guess Iâm playing Frozen Flame
I love the archetype but is so hard to make it work in combat consistently
I think trick driver is always gonna be campaign dependent to an extent
one thing I like the idea of is like
free archetype but you can only take the vehicle archetypes
in addition to regular free archetype even maybe
so when vehicle combats do happen everyone has a role without it requiring investment from their main combat role
oooh that would be awesome
Would make Pirate and Viking Archetype more desirable too
wrong thread?
Still worth an ooooo
oh yeah rip
Man, how do I push players into the next room of a dungeon without like, making something dangerous approach them from behind?
stare at them blankly until they do something
Because we had like, 5 minutes of downtime as they refused to just walk forward because they knew a fight was going to happen if they did but also that fight would not occur if they refused to walk forward and that fight was the only way to achieve their goal
i had my players throwing rocks and shooting cantrips at a tree and ended up constantly repeating 'whatever you do to the tree, it reacts in a way that you would absolutely expect from an ordinary tree, what do you do next' for a solid five minutes
Yah ideally I want to avoid a scenario like that
sometimes they get fixated and they need to come around by themselves
i guess you can always send the boss's goblin herald out to parley with them
I think there is a time and a place for saying in OOC brackets
(Ey yo go forward and do plot)
Especially since I think a lot of strategizing around fights tends to be from the human urge to 'optimally' solve a problem, when the players themselves might just want to Go Do Fight
Time pressure is a good way to give some impetus
Yah itâs like, I want them to experience a cool fight but also I know they want to start that fight on the best way for them but also that best way for them would suck for the actual fight
Like, when people spend 15 minutes going 'okay we'll rig a boulder trap and poison the wine and lure the monsters out one by one and'
A lot of the time I feel thats them going 'okay we have time to strategize, we NEED to use it'
Rather than them not wanting to do the fight
The best way for them is just a boring funnel where nothing happens because only 1 enemy can hit them at a time
And you can just tell them 'its alright if you just go in and have fun smashing beasts'
I guess but also this group will have a worse time if I just tell them âgo fightâ
Like Iâve played with this group for years, we donât really enjoy just being told âgo do this nowâ
i do the same but i do try to keep in character
like "it starts to dawn on you that you've been uselessly poking a harmless door for a few minutes"
or "you then realize that the enemy has no reason to come to your traps, they are on the defensive and if you want to get through them to reach the mcguffin you will need to advance"
generally when players are overthinking stuff and making plans based on that, they're usually terrible plans
I guess youâre just stuck then unless you make every situation have time pressure
Or like
Talk to them outside of the game and say that you really donât enjoy when they just stand there doing nothing
Youâre a player too
An animist would probably fit in pretty well in the Realm of the Mammoth lords, thinking about it
Oh yah it absolutely would
What are trolls like in Golarion?
Hungry
oh yeah I always refer to that whole scenario as 'wizard carpooling'
from a personal incident in which I was losing my god damn mind at the other players in a mage: the awakening game who were very certain that it was important we figure out who was riding in which car on the way to [scene we were investigating]
Big green rhino boar hellbeasts that are yes, hungry
They were created by a demon lord who actively hates them
Because he looks like a troll and has terrible body dysphoria, but every time he tries to maim himself into a different appearance he regens back to normal
He's the demon lord of wildfires because those are one of the few things trolls are afraid of
Ah so theyâre effectively just big dumb hungry monsters that are related to literal demons then
Oh theyâre made by a demon?
Yeah the goblin hero gods are minor demon lords
We actually have record of fairly peacable trolls in the same way
There's one training to be a monk in the iconic monks short story, and a whole culture of them in Kaer Maga
And one who was kidnapped by an Absalom crime lord only to replace said crime lord when he disappeared
Yes this is the plot to mass effects shadow broker DLC
Yeah said Crime Lord's biggest goal is to exist openly in Absalom
He currently goes out to operas, salons, etc, but in a human illusion guise
He wants to skip that step and exist as himself
Thatâs pretty sick
Bensi Skule I think his name ie?
He actually rules the biggest gang in Absalom
He's also a talented alchemist iirc
Also reminds me of Mother Jackal, one of the other more interesting people in thr Absalom book
titan wrestler might be my favourite feat
especially when combined with like the wrestler archetype as a whole
champion
that's what I was when I had it
any character who you really want to have crazy feats of strength
owo
Gonna consider that for my Dragon Diehard Fighter
or at least, would, if not for the massive feat tax
Barbarian, especially Animal Barbarian
AKA Hoarah Loux
True, hadn't considered that
yeah
when I was a champion with wrestler
i wanted to suplex the big bad dragon we were going to fight
i think barb has a little bit of redundancy but that just means you can mix and match to get all the best grapple feats
that was the aim
MACHO LIBRE
"i am like all the other wrestlers, but i have +2" is pretty solid
meanwhile gymnast swash is over there with "i am like all the other wrestlers but i roll twice and pick the highest"
gymnast swashbuckler is the swashbuckler I just cant vibe with
yeah it's a bit rough, much easier for everyone else to pop finisher every turn
but like
free hero point every grapple and trip is kinda hard to beat
Hold on wait
Godrey starts out as a champion with an animal companion, then goes Animal Instinct Wrestler Barb for phase 2
So rn my players are investigating into a group of bandits that seem to be hired by a big conspiracy theyâre investigating
But I really want them to find those bandits murdered by a group of extremely violent adventurers
So their real goal is to find the living members, who were their enemies not long ago and protect them in order to get the information out of them
Hmm, what do yâall think would be a good statblock for some animal/monster tamers?
Beastmaster?
Oh I thought you said name for some reason
Well are they like, working along side or are they more of a summoner
working alongside
animal statblock and whatever, probably
From the managed and cultivated forests that support villages to the tree-covered crown lands where only nobles and their servants are permitted to hunt, forests provide. To communities, forests provide fuel, food, medicine, and raw materials, while royally protected forests provide food for the nobles' table and a source of entertainment in the...
Could try some of these
i don't really see a compelling reason to make them command an animal or anything
Maybe give them some abilities to work together
Like help set up each others attacks
Man
Exposure to battlezoo has ruined me
I really want to get into a new game now
Oh Poachers having access to snares is neat
Ill use them
just buff em up a bit
Kinda wish my group had continued frozen flame
We've got a druid(witch) and a psychic(medic) in the party so far
Pondering what to play
Animist is sexy but casting looks covered
To offer my own two cents-
My dream char for Frozen Flame is a Ranged Reprisal dex paladin with a Hornbow
Fun little back rank defender type
Are there any psychic NPCs?
Not seeing anything with Unleash Psyche in the bestiary
Damn
Iâll have to homebrew it then
So long as I make an occult caster with unleash and an amp it should be good though
Oh yah thatâd be a good pull
Thematically yeah
This gigantic, mauve worm has a hooked mouth with multiple circular bands of teeth and four barbed tongues. A wielder of terrible occult powers and a vast alien intellect, the neothelid serves the ageless horrors that dwell in strange dimensions beyond known realityâthe Outer Gods and Great Old Ones of the Elder Mythos. Neothelids pass down thes...
Like this
The things to look for are telepathy, thoughtsense, and occult spellcasting
A vetalarana manipulator is a gifted strategist, empowered by the memories, thoughts, and talents the manipulator has drained from countless victims and honed by centuries of survival. Certain of their own superiority, manipulators twist free-willed individuals for their own ends as easily as they control their comatose puppets.

The Remaster is live! Please check out the front page of our PF2e AoN for more details and enjoy!
Oh hell yes
lets fucking goooo
I have suddenly forgotten every single thing I ever wondered about what has changed in the remaster
yoooo aon is finally updated
God Death Day!
Yaaaaaay
Oh nice theyâre marking the old stuff as legacy content
But itâs still all there
Oh even the old patron themes that were all replaced
Nice
Alright, playing an animist. Any thoughts on what works well for Free Archetype (other than maybe druid)?
Didn't even know they had this, nice
Oh cool
I seem to recall you having a medic but I'd rec that in a vacuum
I forget, does the fighty spirit make you proficient in martial weapons
It does
If so possibly marshal
Although I don't think I want to frontline, really
You can just shoot bow/do Marshal support stuff like cadence call
Oh so other minor gods will die
Dang I appreciate the emotional and work based honesty and insight this post brought đ
I am glad they're shaking things up in Golarion honestly
I hope we get some big setting changes
So gamers, what do yâall think would be a good name for an adventuring party lead by an extremely violent bugbear?

one of the intros of all time
It's beautiful.
oh my god they actually ||coordinated it||
https://paizo.com/community/blog/v5748dyo6siix?The-Godsrain-Prophecies-Part-Six
||im mostly joking but its neat that the nethys article came out the same day as the archive updating||
True
Yet another Alkenstar W
this is one of my favourites
axe-hammer-gunner's quadrant for sighting artillery
Also continuing the theme of "Yah core aspect of God turns back on God and kills them"
see? it's gonna be rovagug
I feel like it's more, Nethys fucks around, finds out
though this time with a side-order of
the god of destruction is, ironically, destroyed
this is why i worship Shjorfthagor, the god of not being undone by your own domain
Also learned of this
Honestly, matter and spirit is just a poltergeist TBH. And mind a life is just a human
five bucks on irori
Still think Saranrae
I'm hoping abadar
I think his death would create so many stories
(and make the game economy much more complicated, but they can probably make it work, it will be fine. Find a new vault keeper, maybe Asmodeus)
As bad as Abadar could be I think giving Asmodeus the domain of capitalism isn't a good idea
In game or out of game?
Out of game itâs a great idea for a variety of adventures
In-Game
My money is still on Zon
Anyways, I don't really get what makes body and mind and matter and spirit so opposite that combining them makes a god explode
Like, almost all sentient beings are a combination of mind and body, and a elemental spirit is a very common idea
Itâs just a gameplay thing really, but they treat these synergistic ideas like polar opposites
I mean, we do have things that can exist as minds and spirits without matter.
Itâs just in terms of magic
Aw, Nethys was one of my hopefuls
Hmm, how would a dual form weapon inventor go with a melee+gun weapon?
Very MAD
Unless you take a finesse melee, one of the finesse twohanders may be good
Yah thatâs what I was thinking
I guess my Q is
What do you see being a hybrid melee ranged character as getting you
Megaton from range without the normal problem of AOOs that ranged builds have
Hybrid weapons are pretty bad at not proccing aoos but fair
Yeah, swapping is an interact action
singlehandedly making combination weapons more or less completely pointless
I mean Iâm referring to dual form weapon the inventor feat
Iâm more referring to a build thatâs primarily for ranged megaton but is just good at melee when it calls for it
two interact actions is pretty expensive
Yes, and it works the same way basically
Taking two manipulate actions to swap
That can be AoO'd
I guess yah if you need to reload the gun
Nethis safe makes sense
Ohhhh I mean
Dual weapon inventor is way better than combo weapons
Grab a elven curved sword as the melee and youâre golden
The swap action exists now though
Warlord
I think I dig it? It feels like it runs the swashbuckler risk of being too 'rotation' focused but that probably improves as you learn more directives.
Oh someone is playing a homebrew Warlord in the Quest for the Frozen Flame game I'm starting in
What is Envoy in SF1E?
face/expert i think
Ah IC
Ahhh
As in a support who supports by going 'yay yay go team fuck em up so bad'
With pom poms in hand
Also it looks like the Operative is gonna be a Rogue-Fighter
good at damage, I mean
the Envoy is the skill monkey
i think last time it was better at roguing than the rogue
operative was like, ultimate skill monkey
From what I've seen of SF1 Operative, they could just choose to be good at practically any set of skills
yeah sf1 operative was 'why bother having anyone else make skill checks' level iirc
whereas presumably new operative is 'The Best at specific skills' and new envoy is just 'has a lot of skills'
Being able to get skill profs early like a fighters attack prof would be neat
extremely silly
Oh just all skill checks
oh yeah it was vice versa, there was no point in being an envoy
lol
I just established that my ayindalar kineticist believes the sky is just the top of a giant cavern that we cant see becuase its to far away
Render distance too low
literally just trying to frame things from the perspective of someone whos only lived in an underground swamp for like decades
That⌠was not a high bar.
And Operativeâs edge is a good but not groundbreaking skill bonus - anyoneâs specialized skills can keep up, it was just that it applied to everything, instead of 1-2 things. (Envoy got a few more). Also, Operatives had 10+int skill points per level.
Like, with maybe the exception of Phantom Thief Rogue, which trades all of sneak attack and thus most combat relevance for skill bonuses and fun toys, being better at skills than the Rogue was an honor shared by⌠basically anything else that was bothering to do skills. Bard, Investigator, Occultist, Mesmerist, some Alchemists, Vigilantes⌠and probably Slayers, since they didnât have the crippling combat weaknesses and could thus invest more in skills.
1e Core Rogue is considered one of the worst PC classes in the game for damn good reasons.
Alrigh so I think I have my next arc for horror game planned out
They want to go to the local wizard to bring them evidence of the weird shit thatâs been happening recently
I think the wizard and his apprentice were developing a ritual to watch someoneâs dreams, but the fucked up eldritch energy made their dreams and nightmares manifest in reality
Just gotta figure out what the boss will be - am thinking a boss that represents a fear of magic spiraling out of control
That exists, but it's a very strong breed of esipil, iirc
Sakhil sorry
Nenchuuj sakhils in specific
Wolf Drag really look amazing
Iâm gonna be playing a Thief Martial Artist soon so Iâll get to test the Wolf Drag/Head Stomp combo in a while
it's pretty great, yeah
Halfling, what irl language you would appoint to?
idk why but Greek?
I'd appoint italian
Irish/Celtic works
Extremely powerful
Minority of a given region
Like if the majority Humans or whatever are fantasy English, then Haflings are probably fantasy Welsh/Irish
cuz food?
hobbits are from worcestershire
Is that why they taste good with steak
food and most people i met with italian descent had large, welcoming families and were mostly short
Just applied for a game set in the Mana Wastes đ
the Mana Wastes are some of my favorite parts of Golarion, so I'm really hoping I get in
Honestly, they are so culturally adapted thatâs itâs probably some sort of creole
theoretically debating if I'd want to go Nexian Fleshwarp who escaped from the Fleshforges into the Wastes, or a Gnoll who is an inhabitant of the wastes already
Got the monster core
I haven't really processed it all but some of the more infamous monsters have been adjusted
Anything stand out?
Bearded Devils (now Infantry Devils don't stop healing with their trident
new art too
they look like they Slay
Oh also Archons look really weird now
These are the same(ish) stats
another
Are all angels now like this?
Archons are
The ex-lawful good war-legions of heaven
Ahhh IC
In alignement terms Archons were LG, Angels NG, and Azata CG
Oh hey monster core is actually out! I can talk about it now
They also did what was expected with golems
They just have spell resistance now
Rather than the antimagic stuff
For the best
How did you get it so early anyway?
I have my ways :3
Thievery
I will say itâs very perfectly legal
I just am not supposed to talk about it lol
Some kind of playtest thing or knowing them or something?
More the latter
that's fair haha
I know somebody who gets them early
I was hoping for a "creatures by area" type of chart but I'll live
It does do by type and level which is nice
Oh thatâs cool
Yeah it was really nice for easy encounter ideation
Tbh I think The Monsters Know What Theyâre Doing would be a good thing to do for 2e as well
Which, for those who donât know, was a 5e blog that took statblocks and broke down how to run them tactically
It's a great series its almost wasted on 5e
đ yeah
Tbh I could attempt to do something like it for 2e
Itâs been a thought Iâve had
That would be cool
It would also let me reveal my biggest power play
There's a few monsters like Marsh Giants which have really obvious tactics loops but its often something I realize like 2-3 rounds into combat
Which is that thereâs nothing stopping really smart monsters and NPCs from Recalling Knowledge
If I hadn't done enough homework
On players
I roll for NPCs knowledge all the time
Which I have historically rarely used as a tactical analysis thing
Like they roll society against the players DC for their level + 5
(Cause the players are unique)
And then they can likeâŚ. Know which pc has the worst will save or something
My thing it really depends on like, the fame of the players
Like naturally as the campaign goes if the players become more famous enemies will naturally know how to fight them better
Because they know what theyâve done in the past
Hmm, what kind of Solo Element Kineticist makes the most sense for a Fleshforged from Nex that was made as basically living artillery?
I wanna say Fire or Metal, but I'm curious what you guys think
Also damn now I wanna see the Monster Manual
I just heard there was an Adamntine Dragon in Numeria who hoards technology
I also heard there was good Kholo art in the book
There is yeah
I can in a bit - searing some fish
Sure, no rush
Yeah that tracks
Oh cool
I only played PF1 once and it wasnât a very good game for reasons which had nothing to do with pathfinder
Well, mono-metal would ventually let you pick up Elemental Artillery via Elemental Overlap
so there's that
though I forget if that's actually any good I know it's one of the ones people argued about because it has weird action economy
Are they a kineticist from the fleshwarping or a fleshwarp who happened to have their gate open?
I'm presuming the former
Biggest plot twist of Golarion's whole metaplot- Norgorber was an orc in life and that's why he hides his identity as a god
If you don't mind me asking, how are the new hags?
I have heard that they, and I quote, "collectively look like they just came off a Gorillaz album"
Also, Kobolds absorb the magic of all powerful beings, not just dragons, but what does that look like mechanically?
Headcanon accepted that rules
Yeah kind of Gorillaz/Other Mother vibes
They look good
pipefoxes are so silly
Not sure if these are new
Ngl this fucking terrifies me lol
Its so uncanny
a couple more before I go
Oh the sweet hag being made out of dough is cool
other mother type beat
Is the annis hag still around, did it get reflavored
I always liked that one
'yeah im a hag'
'i have no dire plot or wicked curse though'
'im just going to disembowel you'
rends
Yeah
Did it get renamed? Or is Annis Hag not an OGL thing
(I assume the other redesigns are, may be wrong)
Itâs just Iron Hags now
Also the night Hag is pretty significantly different now
(Did Iron Hags get new art 𼺠)
Yes

May I see đĽş
Gonna have a fairly mean encounter in this wizard tower
A complex trap that can do stunned 1 or 2
- a choker hiding in the room
The players are a level higher than the choker so Iâm not too worried about it being like
Statistically difficult
But itâll be an exercise in suffocation rules and action Econ
Might be joining a Ruby Phoenix campaign!
Oh kickass!
I've always wanted to play in that
I crave the high level violence
Itâs a cool one! Pretty difficult imo
Considering either playing a construct inventor that pilots my construct (via the Construct shell feat) or going Dragon barbarian
I've always wanted to do an animal barbarian
Take ape and just flavor it as Angry Martial Arts
This kinda shit
I really wanna use that wild child archetype theyâve talked about for Howl
SAMMMMEEEEE
I love the idea of classes that can gank monster abilities
Its why I'm on a Battlezoo Dragons kick
Its getting fucking REND
(wild mimic that is, not dragons)
(Dragons gets draconic frenzy đł )
I now also have the revised monster manual
yeah I'm also v curious how they do the kinda generic lycanthrope archetype
cause I'd just been saying oh hey cool animal barb lets you just play A Werewolf without it being a whole fuckaround
so I'm kinda curious what the alternate approach looks like
especially if it's customizable that there's plausible reason to be, like
something other than an unarmed martial on it
Yah itâs weird, because lycanthropes are one of those things that a lot of people want but are actually mechanically kinda simple?
i should do a writeup as a proof of concept
Like you look at a werewolf statblock and like
Itâs pretty normal
Thereâs not a lot to em
Claws, moon frenzy, curse, maybe pounce or rend if your good
Yah
Alright, I want this wizard tower to have a few scholarly journals - gimme some topics they could be on
this is like
a level 6-8 wizard
Planar politics
devils and einherjar and stuff
(This is my SOT characters field of study)
Imagine the kind of fucked up things devils do to get a promotion, is all I'm saying
And contrast that with the incredibly stuffy electoral process for archons

A functional analysis of reagents for the creation of magic items
This idea fucks
Maybe a text or several outlining different wizarding traditions, i.e. Maagambyan stuff & the Runelords' system
alright
I have a new thing to ask for advice on
I'm making that creature that is born from the fear of magic run wild
so far it has
and the following spells
but I feel like it needs something more
especially as the cap to level 3 and this little arc of the campaign
So this would be kind of a dick move
But maybe the ability to force the Superstition barbarian anathema on someone
Ooo thatâs good
Also
I have brainblasted a very fun character idea
Old, grizzled tengu monk lady
who carries like four different swords and worships hei feng
God damn it wait
I just made the grandma version of my Icon spellblade
Fuck
l m a o
What's a good sword to use tengu weapon familiarity for use with a monk build?
The fail condition lasts as long as you continue to be frightened
kinda tempted to make it a single action actually
since it requires someone to be frightened
also made a feature where if it would make you fleeing it instead paralyzes you which
Is mostly because I donât wanna deal with fleeing in this wizard tower lol
Temple sword is the obvious choice
Peafowl stance is pretty strong
Note that Ancestral Weaponry as-worded won't snag you the monk tag on a sword you got with Tengu Weapon
Unless your GM is giving you the OK
I mean peafowl stance works with any sword you can one hand
I mean yes but ancestral weaponry does exist
As it needs to be a weapon you unlocked with an ancestry familiarity feat that has your ancestry tag
The tag part feels so fuckin unnecessary lol
If they give the okay, the dueling sword maybe? d8 dex onehander is nice
Falcatta if you still want to do a str monk
I think I may give one of my players some advice for a build, mostly because he just hasnât been enjoying PF2E and I donât think his build is helping him
So I've actually played a monk with a dueling sword for a bit lol
Heâs a level 3 fighter and his fighter feats are blade break and exacting strike when heâs using a great weapon
dueling sword I don't think can be gotten with tengu weaponry
it has to be a common martial sword or the katana, temple sword, or wakizashi
Oh right
In addition to the dueling sword being uncommon monks are not trained in all martial weapons
So uhhhhhhhhhhh
Yeah I'd say temple sword, doesn't cost an extra feat
You could do rapier?
I feel like if a gm said no to the nine ring sword the gm just isnât fun lol
So heres something I've noticed, the Aeon stones from RoE (the first ORC book) use the old naming scheme of (adjective) (rock), while the ones in the GM core have the naming scheme of (verb), like sprouting, or preserving.
I wonder why that changed, but didn't change for RoE
Paizo has avoided being sued by WotC via DND, and have walked into being sued by WotC via MtG https://2e.aonprd.com/Equipment.aspx?ID=2893
Black lotus extract causes severe internal bleeding. Saving Throw DC 42 Fortitude; Onset 1 minute; Maximum Duration 6 rounds; Stage 1 13d6 poison damage and drained 1 (1 round); Stage 2 15d6 poison damage and drained 1 (1 round); Stage 3 17d6 poison damage and drained 2 (1 round)
Lmao
It's impressive, bards have 4 focused items, twice as many as any other class, and they are all kinda bad
In grand tradition
Like, I want none of them for anything other than the extra focus spell
Actually, if the phantom piano wasn't sentient and a piano, it would be very good.
But its sentient and a piano
Why the fuck is it a piano lmao
thematics or an attempt at balancing
Like, it can shrink, but you can't use it shrunk, so in combat you need to sit down and play a piano
The correct way to use a piano if you're an adventurer
isnt to shrink it down like a coward, it's to put it on wheel and go everwhere riding it like a horse
or a land Gondala
But accompaniment cloak, a mid control spell with additional limiting placement. harmonic hauberk, static counteract modifiers. entertainers cincture, it makes a drawing
Other classes have better stuff. accolade robe has an extradimensional space and a at will draw+RK. Bloodline robe, 1 action to be quickened on your next turn, allowing you to cast 2 2 action spells in the same turn. cloister robe, armor runes and some free resistance. I'm not cherry picking, these are the first three in alphabetical order
italian it is
I've got a question about wood kineticist: they've only got light armor prof, and the hardwood armor impulse provides you with a wooden armor that is "medium but uses your highest proficiency".
Does it mean it becomes light and you're proficient with it? Or is a wood kineticist not proficient with wooden armor?
"This hardwood armor is medium armor but uses your highest armor proficiency."
it is medium armor, but when calculating your AC, instead of acting like it is medium armor for the calculation, it just makes you use whatever armor proficiency of yours would be highest, which is probably light/unarmored.
Nice, that's what I thought but I wasn't sure. Thanks
Man spellhearts are cool
Thinking about it now, the weapon attachment effects for the basic elemental ones are pretty much what I was hoping for Arcane Cascade to be
Whatâre spellhearts?
durable talismans that let you cast a cantrip
they also give some other passive and active benefits
Basically permanent talismans that give you a cantrip, limited castings of other spells, and mild buffs whenever you cast them
Banned from two handing it though
Ye, true
Wandering ronin character being made as we speak
fucking lmao
I also just realized you could make a town guard character with Ruffian
Just get a baton
I was thinking longspear actually
Isnât that 2 hands?
Make a tengu so you can get katana and wakizashi proficiency
handedness doesn't matter afaik
It's just die size
Breaching pike ruffian rogue paladin multiclass
but yeah Ruffian tengu with a katana and wakizashi is totally possible
someone say wandering ronin?
what new thing makes this possible?
with the katana n stuff
Ruffian works with martial now
Ye
Ruffian works with martials up to 1d6 damage dice
katana is 1d6 one handed
oh shit it also works on advanced weapons
tricky pick ruffian kobold lmao
damn there's a lotta stuff this works with
The problem is that fatal makes it stop working
so you will actually do less damage on a crit at higher levels
tru
oh tengu weapon familiarity is way better than I thought it was
If you're proficient with all martial weapons you can pick advanced swords
holy shit
buuuuut they're all uncommon save the falcata
or the nodachi I guess
as a GM id probably give you access since you're already burning a feat on it
I would too, but it sucks that raw, if you're a tengu with weapon familiarity and a class with all martial weapons
you get the falcata and nodachi
breh xD
In terms of organised play I think all you'd have to do is pick the right nation in your background to get access
fair
'I'm a tengu swashbuckler from the broken lands with this feat, lemme have my dueling sword please'
yeah uncommon access is kinda whatever
Id only really give it a second look if it was a spell/magic item, or a feat from a specific organisation like the magaambaya or pathfinder society
I personally ignore uncommon for the most part
and most rare stuff is also fine, but that one might actually need some checking
man the dueling sword has a lot of varying depictions lol
i kinda hate that the falcata isn't uncommon, cause i can't get it through unconventional weaponry
i think tengu is the only way to treat falcata as a martial weapon
Itâs so dumb
omg that's amazing
does anyone know any good discord servers for pathfinder?
a friend of mine is gonna learn and run it, and i think it would be helpful for him and i
There's a very large one that is an offshoot of the PF2 Discord
How is the main one anyway?
Huh, really? I'm only on the main PF2 discord
Which is this, by the by
And is good for finding games
Oh perhaps genome meant an offshot of the pf2 reddit
Because TECHNICALLY this is the discord for r/pathfinder2e
But its more active than the reddit is afaik
Oh yeah that was my bad, I misspoke
looking at pathfinder items and found the colourful coating
These coatings come in different colors, each with a different special effect. A bottle of colorful coating contains enough to slather over one 5-foot square within your reach or space and is made with a special dispenser that enables you to coat the surface using only one hand. It's possible to use the coating on any surface that can be painted...
the yellow coating MAKES WALLS EASIER TO CLIMB
with the yellow paint video game discourse going around
it's hilarious
This game is terrible
is there a good list of starfinder factions and stuff
Speaking of dragons
BackerKit is the premier crowdfunding platform to discover new projects, the creators behind them, and the passionate backer community that fuels their success.

Uhhh yeah I believe so
Thereâs a whole list of ship manufacturers
And stuff like that
From Seifter on the PF2e Discord
The series includes fairy dragons, with connections to nymphs, gremlins, unicorns, and fairy courts; misfit dragons, with unusual magical mishaps and interactions; leshy dragons, attuned to nature spirits, plants, and fungi; and battle dragons, who make their home amid the field of battle. There's more info on the launch page I think!
100% Every new dragon has everything you need. It's got the player rules for ancestry, ravager, and mage (plus a little base stuff so you don't need to own the first book). It's got lore. And of course creature stats.
Re; Battle Dragons
One just goes into an all-out berserk frenzy. One wants a one-on-one duel, a fair fight. One hunts and stalks the most dangerous game. One is a mercenary who will fight for whoever pays right. And the last is a warlord who leads others into battle.
Any kind of organization you wanna know about before I nap?
Off the top of my head therrreesss
polities
mostly
theres the pactworlds
Veskarium
veskarium
Uhhh thhhe azlanti star empire
Dominion of the Black, aka weird Eldritch weirdos from the space between the stars
Veskarium is the fascist Vesk space empire
Azlanti Star Empire, who developed from Azlanti from Golarion who got stranded on another planet. Basically the Empire from Star Wars + Human Supremacy
Those are the "major" polities that come to mind
Uhhh non nation powers areee like
Hellknights, knights of golarion, the stewards, xenowardens, aspis consortium, sky fire legion.
Uhhhh and more
Yeah, they have giant hellships
And thier facist as fuck
they always were
Lemme get some pics
They have a ship with a downward facing orbital gun
To sit over colonies that refuse to give up criminalsâŚ.
Here are some Hellknight ships
Ye
Knights of golarion/ imodae ship
Itâs like 40k , but good
As in the alignment
Church ship
starfinder is so peak
Xenowarden are space druids
Iâve been invited to a starfinder podcast in July
With friends
But yeah all the xenobwarden ships are fuckin trees
Possibly
Also yes , xenowardens have a Hyperion tree bubble ship
I'm already thinking of what I want to run for sf2e
and it wont come up until like
idk
You also have ships like this
I'd say Ranginori and the 'good' elemental lords, plus metal and wood appearing, would be the first big shakeup of the metaplot
I forget if the lastwall/gravelands situation is 1e or 2e, think its 1e
next year?
I think Fall, actually
thats the playtest no?
Oh yeah Eoxian bone ships are cool
Maybe, I could be forgetting
2-3 months sooner than I thought
Hellknight character/campaign?
Oh hell yeah
but like actual pirates with all the pirate ship politics that comes with it
Space Pirates qre rad
Playtest book says July tho
profit sharing and voting on the captain and the all powerful quartermaster
There's a Space Pirate faction actually
ooooo
Idk why, blog says august
Itâs an old blog
The Free Captains
Ye the free captains
They have a large port in the Asteroid Belt of the Pact Worlds
That acts as their HQ
so cool...
On another note in pf2e I want to play a lawful good hellknight
How do you plan to do that?
well theres no alignment anymore
But yeah a Space Pirate game sounds rad
but very much "being good does not mean being nice"
Core
Yeah
I think a friend has it so I am going to pester them
ic so
starfinders world is very centered in the pactworlds
which feels weird
Yeah
Also off topic but I hope Cheliax continues to take Ls
In the Metaplot
For reference, Cheliax tried to invade the Shackles with 47 warships. all of them were either destroyed or captured.
Don't forget the successful rebellion as well!
Ch-L-iax
How do you even manage that?
So not only did their inside man get killed, every single pirate lord united their own fleets against them.
And that's a lot more than 47 ships.
yep
for PF2e or Starfinder 2e?
also regardless, Cheliax's navy isn't as good as it was in 1e anymore lol
after such an L
goddamn they suck
Admittedly, more ships have been sunk at once in real life naval battles
pf2e
