ideally I never again want to hear 'oho you fool, you rapscallion, what were you thinking in daring to play this class without taking divine access' or fake out
When playing a flurry ranger, it’s probably best to have only agile weapon right?
It doesn’t particularly matter if both are agile?
Just that you have one?
you only need one, yes
Yah
I'm believing more and more that each of these prophecies has a hint of truth that will be relevant to the war of the immortals
it's possible yeah
at least I doubt there won't be something relevant in all the prophecies
It’s not looking good sarinre bros ☹️
if you use agile weapons, you cap out at -2 MAP
so it's six attacks at -2 instead of whatever you'd be doing otherwise
Like, that beast seems suspicious, wouldn't be surprised if thats relevant. Same with Arazni's supposed god killing abilities
yeah i was on drugs, i didn’t register the bit with “each” somehow
Makes me wonder if the Dark Tapestry is involved somehow
Given they're literal lovecraftian not-gods
You can fly a little!
Do we know only one of the core gods are dying?
My pal?!
Eventually you're gonna get your DT W
Eventually
Jokes aside I like the alliances mentioned
Zon Kuthon and Saranrae, the 3 Ascended Gods
Halfway through, fellas
please rate my k6bd pathfinder homebrew
Something like thar
Yeah that tracks
Also, interesting thing I saw on the PF2e server
Yah continues the theme of gods dying due to sorta tension, in their profolio -> drastically dies as hunter becomes hunted, Cayden dies as God of bravery becomes afraid etc
I didn't notice it but
It makes sense
I didn’t really like this one tbh
Didn’t feel like it had anything really to do with Erastil lol
I guess so yeah? But he’s also the god of like…. Family and farming and stuff like that.
Idk, this one just didn’t interest me very much
I admit I haven't liked almost all of them lol
But yeah this is weird
Its not even really an Erastil thing
'bunch of gods get eaten, uhhhhh Erastil too, he's one'
Yeah that’s my point is that Erastil hardly matters in it
Well they can't all be winners I guess
Erastil divorce
Lmao erastil’s death just causes a chain of mortal divorces
'she took the kids' (an excessive number of goats)
Political situation in shambles
It's not touched upon but I like the idea of a post-god world tbh
Like, conceptually
The sun has dimmed and whatnot, bathing the lands in Dusk, as the world straddles life and death
he is the god of community, and with his death, the cosmic community is shattered
I suppose!
that's the read I got as well, yeah
That's true, I didn't even think about that
So, what could have been in this story that was cut?
The death of one of the members seems like a bad thing to hit, as it gives everything away, so I actually think they might all be safe
Yeah, although I already figured since
That’s way more of a downer than
Paizo likes to hand out
Even in a fucked up setting
The death of a PR member is pretty fucked depressing lol
Jaidi is the only other god mentioned that could join, unless its literally any god
What is Erastil's thoughts on polyamory?
Well I could see them being like
Real talk uhhhh
I do think Sarenrae is probably the most likely one
(I will be pissed if this is true but its what the 'cruel logic' section of my brain is telling me)
“Arazni joins Saranrae, Shelyn, and Desna in attempting to hunt down the beast” or something
That's what my pathfinder homebrew setting has. Was fun to show my players fucked up (like cosmically) stuff and be like "your characters view this as normal because reality is actually very slowly falling apart without god's"
And they just got rid of that line
But how do you hint this in the prophecy?
And more importantly, when the idea is to leave it a mystery, why was hinting this ever considered?
Odd decision
That comment alone makes me think its not them
It’s definitely sarenrae
Also here's how Rovugug can still win
Sarenrae gets eated
I don’t think it’s definitely Saranrae that’s gonna bite it tbh
Jean stealers
The prophecy that people have talked about is way more likely to be about Walkena imo
Who is literally supposed to be an avatar of the sun
You know what, I’m just gonna play a Laughing Shadow Magus anyway and just pray that It pans out and I enjoy it and I can fulfill the character concept I wanted
Desna NOOO PLEASE
I don’t think any member of PR will die
Can't the same be said of Saranrae. If not more?
I thing Gorum is at least somewhat likely.
She's the literal Sun God
Nah, imo
I don't think any of the PR members are gonna be the one to die
They wouldn’t make it so obvious
If she was who was gonna die
They wouldn’t have an AP end with “it’s this one”
Walkena dying makes sense though
I think Shelyn will dye
He kinda has it coming tbh
Especially since he’s focused on in part of SOT as a like…. Kinda build up to something happening with him
TRUE
How so?
Haven't played SoT
Its not definitely Sarenrae nah
But
Iunno
I can find it in my heart to belive that Paizo could wicked fumble a big metaplot thing like this
Walkena is a wacky dude who's sort of tied up narratively so killing him to clear space makes sense
||there’s a part where you go to his country and maybe convince him to be slightly less fucked about it, but there’s a lot of outcomes that seem to set up a rebellion against him||
Aside from vaguely knowing he's an enemy in book... 4?
Put the answer to that in spoilers please
book 4 spoilers ||you can ascend a new sun god to eventually oppose him||
what if Paizo is becoming a co-op, and to announce this they kill Abadar?
So am I gonna have to buy this novel to learn which god actually does
*dies
Or do you think they’ll just say in WOI
I'm probably buying the book regardless
But they're definitely says who dies in WoI
They'll probably just say in WOI
Also they're gonna announce it yeah
Probably with some more concrete details on the book
Yeah
Oh I didn’t think they were actually gonna announce it at the end of this but fair enough
Regardless I'm gonna guess the book ends where WoI begins
Is War actually releasing at the end of this or is this just a countdown to the god guillotine announcement
It releases in October
I see
I haven't been paying much mind too it
I've been too focused on Howl lol
I forgor is Nethys safe
No
It'd be sort of weird if they did a Prophecy for all but One core god death and then went "a mystery for who will die"
Nethys dies which is why magic missile is called force barrage now
They’re only doing the prophecy for half of them
There’s gonna be a total of 10 of these articles
And we're on 5
So 5 more weeks of Godsrain, then they announce it the week afterwadds
Wait, if you take the first letters of all the gods they have reviled so far, it spells "Pacue", which is a piece of computing hardware.
And what God is the most like a computer? thats right, Nethys
'hm, it seems to spell'
'R I P B O Z O'
But yeah
I think the book will be the lead up to WoI
And War of Immortals takes place in the chaos after the God dies
My votes are still iomadae or rovagug
Why Iomadae?
I feel like she’d the most impactful god that could die with out blowing up a bunch of ongoing plot lines
I think Norgorber is a good outside pick. He knows enough secrets to start multiple wars
also, he has the most titles on AoN, which I think puts a target on his back
Lastwall is an iomedae thing right
Or would it be on theme to continue making Lastwall The Most Miserable Organization Ever
Two major releases down the line they're just going to be hitting zombies with sticks
Which guess whose becoming core
Ah, but they’ve made it very clear Arazni isn’t inheriting the dead gods stuff
Yeah she was saying that Arazni can still support lastwall even if iomedae bites it
But also idk how much I trust lastwall to stay functioning even with their support
i fucked up and forgot breath weapons recharge WOOPS
its fine i think they'll make it
I think all the sarenrae/PR stuff is hard teasing
and every time it happens I think it's even less likely she'll die
the wizard just naruto'd me
Hmm, duel class ruffian rogue giant barbarian would go kinda hard
any particular synergies peak your interest?
Unrelated but I also want to say draw the lightning is cool
Just thinking in terms of adding as much damage as I can
Because ruffians main weakness is the limit on their damage due to the damage die shenanigans
But giant barb has the best flat damage in the game (minus maybe kineticist vs an enemy with a big weakness)
So it kinda adds a lot with a little effort
it's hard not to pick fighter
this is why the rules recommend not allowing martial/martial dual classing haha
I mean maybe but also if I’m playing with a dual class I kinda expect the game to be a bit super high power
So like, I think it’s fine imo
it does equally recommend just tuning up the enemies tbf yeah
mostly I was responding to Pilcrow's sentiment
And like... double Casters get to just spam higher level spells.
it's the difference between getting to do full power stuff more often and just reaching a whole new level of power that you get doing martial/martial
also rogue magus would be good for a chuckle if you like big numbers
taller vs wider
...does make me wonder how dual class but if you dual class two spellcasters instead of getting all of both spells you like...add them together and get the next rank of spells 2 levels early would go
as in if you would get a level 4 slot from both classes you instead get one level 5 slot
Just got to Chapter 3 of Book 2 of Season of Ghosts
found out ||We're in a timeloop||
i’ve only looked at it from the monster side but for them having oversized spell slots is overwhelming
click button, encounter over kinda stuff
there's also kinda the hidden third tier above caster/caster and below martial/martial that are specifically set up to, like, make a full-power third-action attack after a spell
like at the end of the day dual class just massively raises the amount of difference that optimization makes
and the optimization it rewards is benefiting from more of your class features per action/turn
the best caster/caster combo would probably incorporate something like infinite eye psychic that's good at making use of single actions
grabbing a divine font full of one action heals
etc
there are a lot of worse turns than 3x one action heal/harm
Charged Javelin domain spell combined with primal or arcane lightning spells 🤔
can you zap yourself with chain lightning?
Cause if you were crazy enough to do so, you could proc bottle the storm and immediately redirect as a reaction if it’s 7th level or higher
hmm, you can choose to target yourself, though im not sure its particularly useful
The Dual Class I want to try the most is def Summoner/Martial
A summoner martial seems really interesting
Striding into battle with your STAND
Though realistically it's more like Astral Chain
The idea that keeps turning over in my head is Paladin Champ/Devotion Phantom
If either of you get hit pain is coming
The counter machine
The two phantom eidolons are real cool
that one feels paticularly unsynergistic to me, since you share MAP with you eidolon
even getting tandem strike, that's just lvl6 dual slice
like, doing dual class you definitely can do better
I think it just relies on the right eidolon and class tbh
though you also can definitely do worse, magus summoner is just action economy hell
Like Namoeleon mentioned champion devotion phantom kinda fucks together
Punish the enemy no matter who they hit
Also you can grab something like dragon to get access to a good non attack action eidolon
Monk or rogue archetype with a focus on being extra slippery could be funny, but probably not that strong
the clearest thing i can think of is summoner/rogue for the "be your own flanking buddy" shit but that doesn't seem like a particularly good reward, all things considered
actually mounted summoner/magus could be something
you get a bunch of free movement which boosts magus and you get a bunch of spell slots which boosts summoner
I’ve been wanting to make a monk rogue for a bit now
Oh I was talking about a Summoner with monk or rogue dedication, but monk rogue is cool
the classic ninja multiclass
Ohhh
It’s probably just a meme, but the idea is you just hide or stay out of reach all combat and let your eidolon and any extra summons do all the work
the lazy Summoner
lazy summoner expert Stand user
I mean yah it’s like double slice
One of the best feats in the game
It’s not good but that’s because summoners don’t have good weapon proficiencies
If they did tandem strike would be crazy with their already improved action economy
Metastrikes generally either let you cheat MAP or they save actions
Yah, twin takedown is the save an action dual weapon mega strike
Double slice/tandem strike save on MAP
But yeah Tandem Strike is still held back by the fact Summoner doesn't have good Strikes
Yah otherwise it’d just be twin slice with an eidolon instead of your own weapon
You tend to be better off with something like cantrip+Eidolon Strike (from Act Together)
Which means you could use a great weapon, have a free hand or something like a staff and still use double slice well
Or just doing 2 eidolon attacks+boost eidolon
Having the options with Act Together is already great.
dont tell anyone but i snuck into the paizo offices and lifted concept art of the thing that ate erastil
:0!
What a cruel and evil looking caterpillar
Ah finally
Religious literature for the new lore
The pf2e discord is good for games
For awakened animals?
Awakened animals are coming in howl not Tian Xia
dang
Lol?
No I just like learning about Golarion
Also Minkai is in the Meiji Restoration era pog
is a champion of irori better represented by a champion class or a monk?
I mean, you could argue both, but probably monk
monk with champ archetype works great
that said almost anything with champ archetype works great
can you play champion as a fuill fugilist?
https://2e.aonprd.com/Archetypes.aspx?ID=209 this archetype helps you be a pugilist with almost any class
Stone brawlers learn to encase themselves in temporary, magical rock that empowers their unarmed strikes and defends their bodies. Their relationship to stone is often transactional, and they call on the resilient material for utilitarian purposes. Most stone brawlers view rock as a tool to be utilized in the heat of battle, much as a fencer val...
I'm excited for Tian Xia too
We're doing Season Of Ghosts and I'm doing Twisting Tree but if the new hybrid study works with a Bo Staff I'm likely to ask my GM pretty please to do that swap
I have so many characters at lv8 just ready for action you have no idea
https://pathbuilder2e.com/launch.html?build=688871 the latest one i did was fun, ghoul melee with position control
Magus+?
A third party book of Magus stuff
The folks behind it are called Team+ because they do tons of books like that
waiting for Gunslinger+
Speaking of classes, I can't wait for the Exemplar final version
Wonder what they're gonna change about it
Oh neat
Magus+ also has a gun focused Hybrid Study AFAIK
And a martial arts one
I wish we had better guns tbh >_>
Or at least more interesting ones
I'm working on some guns from my setting!
they're like air repeaters that get to keep fatal
with the trade off being they all have cobbled/something that works like it
basically just magic revolvers and lever actions that use nitroglycerin instead of gunpowder
might make an archetype for using them that's not centered around reloading shenanigans
since that's basically 90% of current gun stuff
Maybe like an agile warrior fighter kinda deal
Whenever someone says nitroglycerin I hear Vinny from Atlantis in my head
I hear the weird exposition dude from the first episode of the Baki anime
'NEETOROGOLYCERIN'
Oh yeah that’s the point though
Is that the people who made the advanced guns haven’t invented gunpowder
Isn't this the base idea for Outlaws of Alkenstar
So they have to use a semi-unstable magical compound instead
Someone invents Dynamite and completely changes the dynamic of the city
So it looks like Dual Weapon Reload is getting changed
How so?
The wording mentioned during a stream was
"Whenever you would Interact to Reload, you can Reload 2 weapons, one in each hand."
And this does apparently work with special reloads like Slinger reloads
Which if that happens is gonna be big for dual pistol builds
Paired Shots actually usable
WOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Also wait where is this getting changed?
Because gunslinger isn’t being remastered
In PC2 supposedly, with some errata for Guns&Gears
Also they mentioned a new capstone feat for Monks, Grappling focused, called God Breaker
But no specifics on what it does
That’s gonna change so much the math
Oh that sounds sick
Can’t wait to poach it with wrestler
holy moly
that's a massive dual firearm buff
and honestly a great sign of they're willing to do that sort of thing for gunslinger because more than a few ways could use it
Wait how’s that gonna affect drifter though?
Rn my gunslinger player uses it as a means to reload with both hands filled
As long as it keeps the clause about being usable with your hands full, that should work still
But we'll need to see the final wording
I guess he’d just use a normal reload action instead
I mean running still needs a free hand doesn’t it?
Like I said, I'd assume it let's those reloads work with full hands
Because it kinda has to
As long as you're holding weapons at least
But we'll need to see
POG
We need more crazy capstones
The Fists of the Ruby Phoenix capstones should be commonplace
Yah fair
interesting for it to be grapple focused since there's like
It probably will specify not needing a free hand
Because otherwise the feat doesn’t work
at least three classes in strong contention for best grappler
Fighter, Barb, Monk?
swash
Oh yah athlete
derring do is bonkers iirc
God I wish you didn’t need dex for swash
Purely numerically, Gymnast is the best I think
and also secretly though I have not yet had the opportunity to play it there's heavy synergy between grappling and evil champ
Derring Do is just really good
to make them actually deal with you and trigger your reaction rather than just kinda ignoring you
I wanna make a gymnast but also I don’t wanna have to do dex+strength
and also use your MAP to generate panache
Though Barb is also close with the one feat that gives a bonus to Athletics in Rage
I mean ideally you force the enemies to acknowledge you by hitting them
If you’re a source of damage you’ll eventually need to be acknowledged
Because otherwise you’ll kill them
I mean
numerically below other martials because your Thing is having legendary defenses and so on instead of a damage feature
so rip if you're protecting an investigator or something
I mean that’s kinda fair
Yah I never thought of that
i thought the point of evil champ reactions was to make them ignore you?
Gymnast is the only one that needs to spend a resource besides actions to generate panache
No you want them to trigger
Which is another slight issue with the evil reactions
I like Cha Swash bc it just fits with the class concept in my head
But I'm not a build guy I just like what seems fun
Enemies aren't really encouraged to attack an evil Champ much
strong same
but then every time I look I just kinda go eh I could play scoundrel instead
I like swash a lot
Wizard+ and Summoner+ are probably my most anticipated ngl
Hoping for the Aberration Eidolon
Hoping for Thesis feats
I would formulate an argument against this but my ancestor roll says I can't do skill checks this round 😔
(I actually love ancestor oracle I hope it gets buffed)
That is insane
Also
G&G errata in PC2??????
I am going to set my expectations low
It's most likely going to get buffed yeah
possibly backdoored in via dual weapon warrior rather than G&G errata proper but who knows
yeah, looking forward to seeing what kinda love oracle and alchemist get in PC2
Champion is also getting love
I think if I were to call my shot on ancestor oracle specifically, independent of whatever class-wide change
I'd probably just guess the failure chance becomes a status penalty or something
and martial prof
maybe nudging some of the benefit numbers
I'm excited for Oracles++
Plague Oracle time
Just a nasty icky guy/gal/nonbinary pal
What are good low level items to give a Wizard and a Thaum
Separate characters to be clear
But the rogue/cleric has been delegated the lions share of the loot and I need to spread the love
tough to say for thaum just because they can build in so many different directions
staves, wands and scrolls are enduringly popular
huh, interesting
I'm honestly not sure of much offhand besides, like, the kinds of things they're already buying anyway or utility items that are good on anyone
do they have their skill items and fundamental runes and stuff?
They’re level 3, they don’t have any fundementals
demon mask is cute on any cha class if they're intimidation-trained
but I guess that's 4 and not 3
they should have +1 potency no?
i think you can give +1 striking now
they should have a couple of +1 striking weapons by the time they hit 4th
They do have potency crystals tho
No yeah u right
Theres a smoking sword in this dungeon
Maybe I’ll throw him a +1 striking thing to take the runes off of
aright
I've added a + 1 striking flail in an optional area, and a +1 spear in a less hidden place
Runed simple weapon
I trust your judgement tho
I guess they can pull it off if there's seriously no one interested
Not sure if this was posted - but this looks nice
yeah i expect them to but the wizard can also use it if they want
it's mostly a spear for flavor
since it's on the body of an ancient soldier
also spears aren't bad
and added a bunch of scrolls to an anti-undead stash for stuff like blazing bolt, burning blade, and sure strike
Realized the breaching pike is kinda neat, it’s the only one handed reach spear and it completes the physical damage trifecta of the the D6 reach one handers
plus you can use it to replicate phase 2 Sword Saint Isshin from Sekiro
What’s the bludgeoning one
Oh right yeah
I was gonna use breaching spear but idk if the hobgoblin part makes sense
The Character Sheet is back with more Fantasy and TTRPG news as we sit down with Paizo's James Case to talk about the amazing new Tian Xia World Guide, bringing back and massively expanded the asian themed setting to Pathfinder 2nd edition! So what has changed...and what new elements like a Kraken ruling a country or a land where Kaiju Wranglers...
Still maybe married to an anonymous 1e pc
Thankfully Breaching Pike seems supremely easy to reflavor
Its Just A Spear
Fair enough
Wait
Is there an AP where a party member getting married is a plot point
Well, it’s a thing that happens if you romance her in the 1e AP where you take her from Sandpoint to Goka
Oh I see I see
one of my players last session mentioned they were crafting a phylactery. i was very confused til i realised that i saw pf has a magic item based on an actual phylactery - as in a tefillin
This tiny box holds a fragment of religious scripture sacred to a particular deity. The box is worn by affixing it to a leather cord and tying it around your head just above your brow. You don’t gain any benefit from the phylactery if you don’t worship the affiliated deity. The phylactery grants you religious wisdom, which manifests as a +2 item...
What reason might a Mana Wastes Fleshwarped come to Absalom?
I know Absalom has some natives from distant locals, like the Crown of the World, but still
Why does anyone move to Absalom
City at the Center of the world!
IIRC it's the biggest city in Golarion and has a lot of stuff going on there
Maybe to get away from the impossible lands which are all terrible places to live, especially as a fleshwarp
Like Alkansters mega racist against mutants, Geb is Geb, in Nex a Wizard will try to do something to you
Take a boat to Absalom where it is diverse enough that you won't neccicerally stick out as much
making a Champion of Shelyn
they're gonna be a dex champion who uses the aldori dueling sword
paladin is kind of cracked actually
Was gonna make them a liberator
Paladin is really cool but it comes at the cost having to play someone with Cop tendancies
yeah
how can I make up for the lack of damage?
no strength, so I'm not going to have good damage
unless I drop my constitution for strength
Hmmm. Not that much that can help with that, sadly. Archetype wise, you’ve got Thaum, Barbarian, Swash, and Rogue to help add damage
Later on, getting some extra damage runes on your weapon will help too
Ah, right
Well, uhhh… buy potency crystals then, that’s the only thing I can think of for low level content
oh it's like level 10 but I want like all the aldori duelist feats 😭
I can take ancient elf to get swash done with earlier
Try and get one of the elemental damage runes like Frost or Flaming then. They’re level 9, bit expensive, but the extra dice go a long way
Hope he goes beyond "Custom magic items" that i felt on the playtest.
Such a knowledgeable fellow
your adventurer would make some amazing video essays
I think I'm leaning away from the champion-ness of the character idea
LMFAO
The best Aldoli Swordlord you've NEVER heard of
You're a special personality... and you know it. You're not merely comfortable in the spotlight, you crave it. While the traditional celebrity is a musician or another type of performer, you could be known for any occupation.
hmmm
im taking ancient elf and gonna do swashbuckler instead of champion I think
champion is cool but swashbuckler just fits the best
that is probably the play
swash with champ dedication is a way better dex champ than a dex champ
Does Swash have the rogue/investigator skill progression?
nope, they alternate skill feat/skill increase
(and then a limited skill feat selection but fewer then investigator)
swash don't get any extra skill increases no
it's one of the annoying things about them
they should really be like inventor and get at least one progressing skill
or like thaumaturge and esoteric lore
I think they're the only class with a hard skill requirement that doesn't get any help towards improving that skill
They should get at minimum auto Acrobatics progression IMO
And probably their Style skill too
Are there any magic items that add like, extra damage to unarmed attacks?
Elemental damage I mean
Besides the burning and electric dunes
axiomatic rune :^)
maybe there's some talismans you could look into
Also yah talismans are probably the way to go
Lawful Damage isnt very good because it only effects Chaotic beings, it also doesnt exist anymore
It's definetly more of a flavour thing
For like "I love killing Daemons" type characters
Yah
Also now that it probably just does spirit damage it’s probably a lot better
Spirit is actually a decent damage type
I assume all the alignment things are gonna be like condensed into a like Spirit rune
Probably
Unless there's like Infernal damage? For Hell and stuff
I think it’s just spirit damage
spirit, with holy/unholy as modifiers iirc
there's some damage type ones you can use depending on stance I think
like wounding if you get a piercing or slashing stance
Ah right
I’m going wolf so I could
or better yet
serrating
so you can have...chainsaw fingers???
A serrating weapon’s bladed edge separates into jagged, swirling shards that spin along the blade. When dealing slashing damage, the weapon deals an additional 1d4 damage.Activate [one-action] Interact ; Effect You brandish the weapon and focus its power, causing the serrated shards to buzz as they spin at a dizzying speed. On your next hit wi...
it's a while before you really get to the damage property runes though
Also ngl, with monk I do kinda feel like wounding is better then serrating
Just because unless I’m making a one inch punch build I’m attacking a bit to much for the extra serrating action to be worth it
And by then I’d just prefer one of the elemental damage runes
Could be fun for the Armored Lizardfolk Inventor
Oh yah this seems like
Tailor made for a heavy weapon inventor
Flavor and mechanics wise
You already have megaton
Outlaws of Alkenstar! (colourised)
(that's just a little joke cause they're painted now)
yupp
That’s rad
Oh I assumed it was an automaton player
too lorge
Oh yah true
Oh they’re a gun inventor
Oh yah they’re a construct inventor
they got it when they were a baby for dorf reasons
Oh neat
If you punch a robot with lightning it dies
Nice
Playing unnarmed really gives you so much money to spend
especially compared to a trigger brand who has to spend like upwards of 80% of their starting gold on their weapon
our gunslinger is flat broke just buying armour gun and lockpicks lol
literally 100% of their starting money
Oh you’re an unarmed dragon barb?
That’s fun
Are you grabbing a martial artist stance?
No, sticking with Gnoll bite
ye!
Although I have taken Monk stance and am using Ki spells because my Gm is very nice
Ant Gnoll, very good for crime campaign
Neat
They get a bonus to convincing people they're innocent of stuff
Pull the “I’m just a little guy!” Card
Mostly playing them though because I wanted to play someone very small and angry, and love Gnolls
Gnolls are pretty cool
I actually don't think draig has played a non gnoll character in pf2e
apart from premades
cause she ran every other time we've played
Don't need to
(I did play a human cleric in the thing with simplified character creation)
oh right beginner box
I should probably start designing some baddies my players are gonna find soon
...why he has those hips, dawg
Why not
Cyborg Chicken has to have thighs, obviously
Answer is good
Now to roll that charisma...
ROLL diplomacy to ask it for a cup of coffee!
Rolls
I GOT A TWO
What do you think would be a good name for a lizardfolk gunslinger?
Rango
do it
Gonna name him Rocio “Ringo” Aguilar
Nice!
G O O D
Dawnsbury Days is a 2D turn-based tactics game with CRPG elements that's based on the rules of PF2E, the second edition of a powerful tabletop OGL ruleset. You play as the Dawnsbury Four, a group of four young heroes from a small town. You choose their class, feats, spells and other abilities as you lead them through 4 character levels and 20 com...
$4.49
We have a PF2 video game
ITS OUT???????????????
I’m impressed kinetisist is base game lol
there's also, uh
They did a ton of patreon feature polls during dev iirc
Yeah, I played that! Its wicked fun, and the reason I'm excited for DD
oh nice
I should actually check this one out
Candelabrum was a bit too short for me from what I heard
This is also only like 4 hours per attempt
likee in the sense that it is officially paizo licensed? i believe it isnt
it's licensed through OGL
so no golarion
actually it could be OGL, because PF2 was released under that and Paizo can't revoke it
what if instead of OGL it was called the CGL for Closed Game License
that would be wacky
What if instead of the OGL it was callled the ORK
iirc it's OGL because it's been under development for a long time
i mean wotc did try to turn it from Open Game License to Our Game License
the dual weapon reload thing was a misspeak
FUCK
the point was actually just that it stacks with all other reloads now because it's a buff to reloading itself
and not its own action
but combination weapons might get a change to reflect the fact that swapping weapons is now one action for everyone
and new ones are likely to be more like the recent ones in that at least one half will be a decent martial weapon
kinda expected this
I am excited to see combo weapon changes
still a good and necessary change though
given pathfinder society banned a feat that let you do it and required a skill check yeah
yuuup
... wtf. Stunned 1 on a success, stunned 2 on a fail?
it's fine, it has incapacitation so you can't use it on just everyone
oh wait, it doesn't have incapacitation so you can use it on just everyone
God, PFS balancing is a joke.
This looks very fun
The "Your First Adventure" bit is fun
It's basically a quick way to simulate your first 3 levels cos you start at level 4
wait what?
how is Acknowledge Fan like the one feat from Firebrands they didn't restrict
did they hit the 'tumble to double your speed' thing or whatever it was
yeah, that went
honestly acknowledge fan not receiving actual errata nerfs at this point is wacky
uhhh yes
A mask helps you use the Impersonate action to pass yourself off as someone you aren't.
Plague masks there it is
This simple, mass-produced gaiter mask is standard issue for miners working in deep, dangerous mines. While wearing the mask, you gain a +1 item bonus to Fortitude saving throws against inhaled poisons. An everair mask makes use of magical runes related to the Plane of Air to create breathable air.Activate [two-actions] envision, Interact Freq...
It is kinda funny how it basically says if you only want a plague mask for the aesthetic it’s cheaper to just buy a fine mask without the filters
Wait a mouth covering mask is called a gaiter mask?
Huh
Honestly kinda weird to me that there’s no simple axes
When axes always seemed like a very classic like, random people with no training uses them as weapon’s because they’ve just got them lying around kinda weapon
Yah mechanically it’s definitely strong enough to warrant martial
But it really feels like a simple weapon
It’s just a hatchet
yeah
I own one and I don’t think of it as a weapon
It’s just a potentially dangerous tool
yeah the weapon categories dont really work
I’m still annoyed that a meteor hammer is martial and there still exist advanced swords
Like, the meteor hammer is famously one of the most difficult weapons to use
I don’t care how weird your sword is it’s easier to use
i think that actually doing someone in with an axe, especially someone armed who is trying to do you in first, is probably a lot harder than with a sword
i’ve split a lot of wood and owned a few axes and i bet i’d be a lot shittier in a fight with one than with an arming sword or something even though i’ve barely held one
I guess that’s fair but also there is the idea of like, axes people use as tools and the axes used as weapons
Which are definitely a lot better as weapons then the tools
And probably easier to use as weapons too
How would y’all say is a good way to describe a nonlethal attack with a firearm?
Because I can’t do the classic leg shot because that doesn’t really knock people out
It just immobilizes them
🤔 close range pistol whip? Long range character goes into medical shock
I would honestly say arm or leg still
And 'unconcious' is just them going 'aiieeeee argh owchhh' on the ground for the remainder of the fight
yeah like at a certain point you just
Making dying from poison damage noises
turn towards your players and go 'hey among the priorities for these mechanics was not the most specific possible simulation of medical science'
so
my pc told another pc off for blindly following acachek's orders and not taking responsiblity for their actions
and I made this
after
God I forgot about that image
mmm pathfinder yummy
Alchemist food eating build
Isn’t giving Alchemist martial class weapon proficiency scaling (Expert at 5, specialization at 7, master at 13, greater specialization at 15) a fairly common houserule
i have not heard of it
Nah they just need to mutagen up like geraldo witcher
Giving them regular proficiency would be something, but wouldn't ultimately help Alchi that much
They need more fundamental changes IMO
Oh yeah, It’s been a while since I really checked them out
Don’t they particularly struggle with quick alchemy action econ jank and having a bunch of feats reliant on using QA to make lower level items
quick alchemy isn't really any more jank than drawing items in general
and the qa feats are more for progressing items in between different levels
like alchemists fire doesn't change itself between level 3 and level 11
a lot of people do find drawing items jank to be clear; but I don't agree that it's an alchemist problem
it's mostly the features that let you make multiple items at once that are awkard
since you need to use them all the same round
what features
I mean
the hand economy and using all of them in time can get awkward, so it's not really that useful of a thing mostly
but that one is not that big a deal
you kinda just need to take enduring alchemy if you want to use those better yeah
a bigger issue for Alchi is the tension between Quick Alchemy and Advanced Alchemy
especially since Powerful Alchemy only applies to stuff you make with Quick Alchemy
so you have to choose between actually getting more uses out of your item, or having scaling DC
but like once you're on double brew you have perpetual potency
they should also get some form of Perpetual or other at-will option earlier IMO
I think the main problem is that like
the skill gap on alchemist is wild
and it's balanced around optimal play where it's easily one of the best classes in the game
and then the problem is that like the options are so unbalanced
like poisoner needs powerful alchemy just to do stuff. bomber needs to spend way more reagents. and then mutagenist has neither problem and just laughs to the bank
so if you give them all better reagent economy suddenly mutagenist is too good
I don't know whether I'd say one of the best, but yeah the class is fine if played correctly
I just think it's too much effort to get there currently
it just has so much jank to deal with and requires too much system mastery to function properly
and also needs your allies to cooperate with you and actually use your stuff
The quick alchemy to make 2 items that you need to use immediately is pretty jank
for sure < @ alaen
it's just bittersweet cause alchemist probably isn't gonna be interesting to it's current fans if it gets completely reworked
even if that's ultimately better for the game
and then like there isn't any other class that does it so
that is also valid yeah
but conversely I just don't know if the class currently gives the play experience most people are looking for when they pick it
but in any case I think a lot of the thing commonly believed about alchemist just aren't true
and that's really my point here lol
like yeah double brew is a problem you gotta solve. other classes don't have to solve it because they straight up can't do anything like it
so I don't really agree that's jank
excepting quick draw thrower stuff but yeah
(conveniently ignoring alchemical alacrity cause that is niche lol but its still just more options)
I mostly think Alchi could use more QoL
let Powerful Alchemy and Additives work on stuff you made with Advanced Alchemy
give them more feats to make unique changes to alchemical items
make it a little easier to draw and/or apply their items to allies
I think tbh drawing items can probably just be a free thing if you use the item
and then balance quick alchemy to be like once per turn free action
more fundamentally I think tying a whole class to consumables you can also just acquire otherwise was a mistake, but that's unlikely to change now
in line with that
also I do think they either need better weapon options, or some kind of cantrip equivalent
almost like simple/martial is obselete as a game mechanic yeah sfjgdjsfhj
cause yeah I used ancestral weaponry to get around that
I'd rather they just get access to some kind of bomb perpetual early, to give them something thematic to do
it's kinda funny
cause in 1e alchemist was basically just the simple caster in a way
like you basically had an attack spell (bombs) and a big buff spell (mutagen) pre budgeted
1e Alchi was a self buff machine
throw bombs, or go Vivisectionist and shred people
I think the other thing is that like. that skill ceiling is why alchemist can actually be good while a lot of other classes that are considered like janky
are just putting a lot of effort in to still be kinda worse
not to a problematic level overall
but yeah
so the worry is that alchemist gets reworked and while it's a lot harder to fuck up even if you play it well you still may as well be playing a bard or a fighter
not that a class being harder to play necessarily means it deserves to be more powerful
but it's just a big tension the game has atm
I'm sad that Alchemist got robbed of its 2e hat of weakness exploiting machine (thank you bombs)
I find weaknesses still too niche to really be a full consideration
There just aren't really that many creatures with weaknesses still
I mean, Thaum, though they also make weaknesses if there isn't already one
Yeah that's why Thaum has Personal Antithesis
i think ability to exploit weaknesses seems strong because a lot of the things with notable weaknesses also have decent resistances
hm
the difference between a battleaxe and a firebomb is 7 damage on a level 1 amoeba swarm
scatter gun thaumaturge
clearly there just needs to be an allergen bomb that triggers a minor weakness on all monsters
Alchemist is neat I like bombs
Oh god shooting my entire lined up level 3 party with a lightning bolt was a bad fucking idea
TPK or just big hurt?
If just big hurt, it's simply a important lesson in spacing
If TPK, a even more important lesson in spacing
2 were immediately knocked down and the rest heavily injured
Was it at least a trap and not an enemy that can now do cleanup
I've done the 'narrow hallway line ambush' before but
A: It was heaviy foreshadowed and somewhat avoidable
B: It was with a line that caused a condition, not damage lmao
It wasn’t really a trap
Just unfortunate map design
i have done this with like an ogre mage and i just had the survivors stabilise the fallen and carry them to their new and exciting positions in the living larder
with a weakness and resistance like this do you apply both?
so a crit would deal an extra 3 damage total
yup
is this a legal cone placement
Probably not but let’s go
I think you could just do like
a cone from the top left
and hit all three
unless skele pirate is your friend
I think it is yah
skele pirate is friend
not a valid cone I think
it's a bit cheeky
i was thinking of how to make defeat easier to deal with in pf2e
like instead of tpk everybody dies
there's only so many times you can "you guys wake up hours later as prisioners" untill it feels weird
i'm thinking of just going "okay this encounter is going horribly do you guys want to retreat"
and like abstract retreat with at most like a couple skill rolls, or something
so they just did the farm for blood lords
did the cow kill anyone
they
almost tpks
tpk'd
they fought the ENTIRE map at once
because of gunslinger
I should have signposted it more that it would be unmanagable if they shot the gun
I think you should in the future not aggro more than the current encounter if the gunslinger shoots the gun
That’s just gonna make all dungeons impossible
WAit what
Yeah thats nuts
Please do not have 'enemies in other areas come in response to the gunshot' your gunslinger will NOT survive
Great way to start future encounters though
“And just as you beat up those guys some other guys come crashing into the room because of the sounds of violence.”
If we want the narrative impact, I'd probably like uhhhh
Have enemies that are normally just bumming around when you find them now on high alert
Because they heard guns going off
Yah
Also like, in terms of actual security (assuming these are sentient beings anyway) “everyone run where the loud noise is” tends to be a kinda bad idea
Like obviously you’d want to send some people but an entire dungeons worth?
There’s gotta be people watching the rear
Yeah
If you’re committed to this then you gotta give your gunslinger access to a permanent silencer
The silencer text also seems to be the only thing that even specifies anything unusual about gun sounds compared to other weapons that I can find, and rather than specifying any particular range, it just notes that it can be heard “through doors and thin walls”
And a person in the fight could easily just shout loud enough to be heard through the same conditions
I imagine it's not quieter than the shouting that makes up verbal components.
Damn, Silencer only lasts for one shot and doesn’t work with scatter guns.
tf is alkenstar making these out of?
Honestly making silencers for flintlocks is kinda impressive already
Like, the explosion is kinda mostly outside the barrel
Morshu Alchemist
Ok but the book LITERALLY says that is perfectly acceptable
And to do it (if you think your players will enjoy the challenge of managing a zombie horde)
And they did
If a gunshot would make everyone come to you, why wouldnt a spell do the same
I am considering that
Gunshots are way louder than most spells
Depends on the spell, I feel like there's plenty of attacking spells which are loud enough to be heard through walls or further
For sure
Wondering how to justify a Gnoll in a theoretical Iron Gods 2e game
Gnoll who came from Alkenstar to explore the secrets of Numeria after hearing rumors about its technology
Gnolls live everywhere
Although they're not very common in Avistan
They're pretty numerous in the river kingdoms, which are lik right next to Numeria
If you look at dungeons in official APs you can absolutely tell that paizo expects you to omit loud noises alerting the horde. Like some of these things would be instant death pits if you tried to apply realistic ideas of volume to them.
The typical excuse is that most monster bands tend to be self-interested and not eager to throw themselves at whatever's killing their neighbors, but it does get trickier to justify when things are more unified
paizo maps are generally not amazing tbh
Dragon barb unnamed is fun because you bite and you punch
Hell yeah
Shame you can’t use greater blightburn bombs with the alchemist mega bomb capstone feat
I think there is or was a spell that was a nuclear bomb pretty much
Isn’t that how the mana wastes came to be?
The Mana Wastes was more it was a magical battlefield between two of the strongest Wizards ever, and over time it literally broke the weave of magic in the area
As opposed to any single event
I believe part of the Mana Waste's problem is too much wishcrafting.
Yeah, magical wishes aren’t something you fuck around with
Oh shit you can make alchemical foods?
That’s rad as hell
A party needing a healer is actually a myth
You just need a fixable robot to take damage for you
Eyyy, someone learning how rad Construct Inventor is.
Repairing also gets real quick with the feat.
Once you get near endgame, you can Repair as a single action, which makes ridable Construct kinda nuts.
yo wtf
I need to get that
how did I miss it
that would reduce the 50 minutes it took me to repair 20 health down to 5 sfjghf
I rolled really bad
we completed the second map without dying
in outlaws
we got like 4 elixirs of life from a goblin though
cause they were grateful we didn't take all of their junk
The only health point that matters is your last one
the only health point that matters is ALL OF THEM because I LOVE being at FULL HEALTH RAAAAAAAAGHHHH!!!
Every hit point is your last hit point if you only have 1 hit point
shedinja mindset
I'm not finding overdrive very interesting though
it's really good like especially comparing it to gunslinger's non crit damage n such
but its also like
Inventor?
Its Weird Barb Rage yeah
let alone crit fail
I wonder what the Assurance Math is on overdrive
I doubt you can manage it
Is that a thing that can work
i expect it's one of those 'this works at three levels' things
assurance never beats an on level dc afaik
it is
level 2 if you get early expert works
level 7?
Any class work well with Dragon Ancestry from Battlezoo?
7+6
so it works at level 8 too
I remember hearing something about Paizo making something like the OGL
(for pathfinder and such)
ah the ORC license
ic ic
Hmmmm
Battlezoo dragons is on path builder for free.....
It's actually pretty cool
Thinking about Sovereign Dragon thaum or something
Regalia implement of course
I'm sad that there like
Twenty trillion heritage feats for BZD but 0 of them are for sovereign dragons
All of them belong to shit like 'harlequin dragons' or 'indigo dragons'
Oh and black dragons to talk to lizards
And later all animals
