getting back into the game in his late forties is half midlife crisis half fairly rational calculation that risking it all for the high life is a stupid thing to do at age sixteen and a lot smarter when you've already had a life

he's slower than he used to be, though, and after the other 4th Corpo War veteran on the team got flatlined right in front of him on mission one he's decided to get chromed up to keep up with the young guns

if he lives long enough he might end up in an FBC designed to look slightly younger than he actually is, so he can stay in his prime forever

but once I can save up a few thousand and get my +2 rifle of ultimate destiny I should rack up the aimed shots and autofire kills rather faster

I was the only player in my group who put points into it for a long time to the point of the GM being honestly far too kind to me and letting my Medtech find an exotic (approximated as "tech" since pre-2077 mission kit timeframe) select-fire Heavy Pistol

that could go on cooldown for like 1-2 rounds of combat in turn for a chance at 5x multiplier autofire (on-hit)

Since I don't actually have Handguns 6, I'm actually pretty useless with any aspect of my holdout SMG other than autofire

There's a beautiful Autofire 4 ablation 4 luxury SMG in one of the DLCs but since autofiring that gun once burns 500eb in AP ammunition I will not be picking it up anytime soon

the various luxury ARs are all fired with the Heavy Weapons skill so I can't work up to railgunning people, just have to build a really nice regular assault rifle

Fixer Autofire problems - the bar is now being busted out by a bunch of Bozos and I left my assault rifle in the car because I didn't want to draw attention

at some point I will be able to engage in a fight that involves more than throwing smoke and booking it but today is not that day

how is Heavy Weapons for the discerning non-solo? I kind of want to try "what if Gehrman had a railgun" but without a giant pile of money it's either grenade or rocket launcher, and I'm not sure what the tradeoff is there vs just chucking grenades

also, rules question: if I have Surgery trained, do I need First Aid or Paramedic to fix the less severe critical injuries as well, or does Surgery work on everything other than stabilisation?

However, the BAD coincidence is that this is the night there was a security leak about the target Corp's AGI project and the Corp puts 2 and 3 together to get 4 and begins escalating things to an extreme as a cover up

Assuming the leak lead to the raid

in the CPRED borg rules, you gain the benefits of whatever linear frame your borg body uses, so your BODY is at least 12, but everything else stays the same unless you have one of the three pieces of FBC cyberware that change your other physical stats (dex, ref, move) to 4, 6 or 8 respectively for increasingly massive price tags

being an FBC does a bunch of other stuff but that's all more obviously enumerated

I am very tempted to run a character who starts out with body, dex, ref and move absolutely crushed and see if I can live to Ascend To Chrome, because theoretically you can get an FBC character who is literally maxxed - 8 or above in everything - but you have to survive to become very wealthy from a character creation base of "severely disabled by edgerunner standards, basically cannot fight except by fueling poor base stats with 8 luck points"

would be one of those charop nonsense runs that you'd need to clear with GM and party, but might be interesting

get yourself a cyber-wheelchair with a railgun on it

And because it interacts with so many things in your daily life there is no way it represents a huge privacy risk, nor a risk of weird parasocial fixations if you further customize your agent to sound and act more human-like!

Another common type of AI is Demons, a special type of Black ICE that can use the Net Arch it's installed into. For example, if you want a Turret that is more discerning than "Anything that moves", chances are you need a Demon.

Most complex/conscious AI in the time of the Red lives on the Old Net, either having evolved from the DataKrash's R.A.B.I.D.S., being literally forgotten, or a product of other shady practices (i.e. Artificial Consciousnesses created from Soulkiller)

The closest we get to exotic body sculpts is some of the moxes getting the one that makes them look like dolls but that’s one of the less extreme ones and there’s just no poser gangs

EFNY is a fantastic scenario to steal, I did it once and my players got a lot of mileage out of just impressing upon people that any bullets and medicine their enemies spent on the party would be gone afterwards. It was REALLY tense, I've never run a proper sesh like that before or since
