#DOTA 2

idk if this has been seen by @delicate jungle yet but I hope it gets into the game
Clockwork
There is also a much sillier techies bunny skin but like easter bunny constume
which is probably not what you want lol
we also had techies mines
i see
any gamers today?
i think so
š
I'll probably be able to hop on for game 2
I'd have to play after sports again tn
I might watch, could jump in if you need a 5th but I'm a bit under the weather :v
neat
polygon creature doing a cool surfer pose
I want to try dp4
<@&877973728997294120> , Iām just finishing a pint at the bar. Anyone free for shenanigans in like⦠15 minutes? :)
shure
Hopefully I can catch game two
I can rumble
@delicate jungle steve game over we are in intermission
43082238
Sorry about a bad last game there!
Definitely understand that it wasnāt how folks wanted to end.
Will be taking a break from DOTA until I feel like Iām a better team player. Thanks!
<@&877973728997294120> anyone around for some dota?
I could in like
Two minutes
If you aren't in queue already
I saw how far Lark git and conceded I won't beat that
perhaps
I did a lot of actual fishing in my childhood and don't need too much repeat of that
I can
For most players, being stuck in a match for anything longer than 40 minutes already gets annoying and exhausting. But imagine what happens when a match reaches one hour, two hours, three hours, or even days.
This is the story of some of the longest games ever played in esports history.
0:00 - Intro
0:18 - CS:GO
2:04 - League of Legends
4:22 -...
3 hours 20 minutes.
jesus fuck.
"we're going to game 3 baybee"
the preceding conversation
You're gonna be visibly
That is excellent
would someone be willing to bring me up to speed regarding DOTA2 stuff? (I'm experienced with playing league but this is like learning to play again (sure some stuff is similar but a lot more is different))
That's a broad question haha
But whatcha wanna know
The biggest departures from League, off the top of my head:
Roles are different, and instead talked about in positions 1-5
1 is your ADC, in the Safe Lane (your side's 'shorter' lane), 2 is your midlaner, in, well, mid, 3 goes in the Offlane, 4 supports the 3 but is also expected to roam a little, and 5 is a hard support for the 1
so there's no concrete jungler. Instead, 4s and 5s are expected to stack camps (by pulling creeps out of the camp just before the minute ticks over) for carries to then farm and cash out on, or to use them to pull lanes or whatever
Dota has a much bigger focus on itemization; you can buy stuff outside of fountain and have your courier bring it to you. You'll also need to buy some things from the 'secret shops' in the map itself to complete your build; use the playermade guides for heroes
As a note the 1 through 5 are specifically meant to represent farm priority.
that explains
it also seems DOTA2's heroes are a lot less-
pigeonholed into specific roles
or I just can't make sense of the classifications / don't yet know which goes where usually
It's more that it's less... obvious
Dota heroes are more like boxes of tools for the team then a bespoke character, if that makes sense
The game puts a lot more emphasis on what you can do for a teamfight than what you can do on your own
sounds lovely considering I mained support in league
Yeah, it's (usually) not the kind of game where you can do really well individually and then just sort of carry it yourself
The balance is also on a much different philosophy than League haha
Where everything is just kind of broken to compensate for everything else being broken
Tuning up rather than down
looking stuff up I can't seem to find any comprehensive list but what I did find led me to "Disruptor" which is rather straight forward naming after having a look over his abilities
Hate that dude
For instance, a staple item to get is Black King's Bar
Which, when used, just. Makes you immune to magic damage and CC for a good bit
Always disrupting me
Anybody can get and use this, and a lot of tanky carries need it to actually use their stuff in a fight
Olaf ult as an item?
Pretty much!
sounds busted
You'd think, but it works
It used to be a lot stronger
This is a game where like
Everybody is playing rocket tag
The enemy has a super fucked up one-shot kill strategy so you need to go and get the thing that specifically counters that
Because it's not immunity anymore
also the one thing that is screwing me up most as im messing around in the demo is that I can literally deselect my hero
Yes
Well, itās 40%? Magic resist
But yeah otherwise immune to cc
60
Ah, yeah, that's an important thing that takes practice
Dota is built directly off an RTS
Which means it keeps the control scheme and benefits that come with it
There's a lot of heroes that control multiple units
I was also wrong š
I remember most stats in the game for Rubick reasons
I mean I played RTS games, I enjoy them in fact, but I gotta say its jarring coming from league
There is also just an item anyone can buy that lets you mind control a neutral creep
And Morph reasons
Yeah, it's an adjustment thing
But this also ties in to what I mean about the bonkers design philosophy of Dota
There's a hero, Meepo, who is just, uh
4 guys at once
Thereās a few 2 guys at once heroes as well
Like 4 whole ass dudes with the same abilities that can be all over the map at once
Brew⦠does something but I couldnt tell you what
that seems insane
He does split up though
Brewmaster I think splits into 3 different guys for his ult that all do different things
though honestly it reminds me a tiny bit of say Abathur from HoTS
back when I played that instead of league
that game also has some bonkers designs when compared to LoL as a baseline
If one dies they all die but they can also teleport to each other
I've never seen one played
Does league have wards?
Funnily enough the friend I have who mains lone druid also plays Meepo
yeah
It does!
tbf they used to not be free in league
eons past
Oh was turn speed mentioned
Oh yeah Dota also got an update last year that like doubled the map size
40% increase
I eat trees for health?
lol
Sure yeah
do the trees comeback?
They do
Sadly yes
what's an ironwood tree?
There's heroes that interact with trees too
why can I also plant trees what is this
Dota's hero design fascinates me because they really do just kind of... do anything?
In dota there is an item called Branch
iron branch
which is an early game thing that gives you stats
You can consume it to plant an Ironwood Tree
those are the iron trees
It is given a specific name because more things used to let you plant them
yeah the common tact is to buy tangoes and some branches
so when you get attritioned you pop down the branch and then just eat the tree for regen
I usually just save them to get wand faster though
Technically they are the most gold efficient item in the game
50 gold for +1 to everything is hilarious yeah
What else should you probably know... Oh yeah dota has a lot of Stuff going on in the map
There's not only a day-night cycle, but runes and the neutral objectives
We have a timeline list pinned in here actually
ironwood tress are also better to eat
Here
but you don't buy the branches for that
yeah they're just a starting kit and emergency use thing
You can also be really slick and plant a tree to block somone from following you in the trees
haha,nice
I should note not as much a thing anymore as that once was
They should make an item that lets you plant a tree at range
Bounty runes give teamwide gold, wisdoms give teamwide XP, river runes the midlaners usually brawl over but give a variety of things
Itās very āif everyoneās super no one isā
Since the sides of the map aren't just There Be Trees and nothing else
its name is natures prophet and that ability is too good
And somehow comes out mostly well balanced
yeah it's like magic
I want one tree :(
treant moment
Also items are a lot more important and some have very impactful active abilities
You guys made me want to play more dota
Yeah I mentioned items being huge in the black king bar example but they're all like that
Every hero can have 10+ actives with 6 items
I sort of do but them I remember our last dota games
Also thereās only 2 heroes in the game where you have to hit someone x amount of times
theres always next game
Bloodstoooooone
I recently figured out what bloodstone is and it's so funny
Our teams mental did not recover between games, lol
Unlike league which every character has āhit them three timesā (this is hyperbole)
instantly incorporated into my late game techies
(Bloodstone, besides some real good stats and crazy spell lifesteal, also makes all your AOEs Way Bigger)
hey- I remember playing techies ages ago when I tried dota
mostly because I could be hilarious and plant mines around the place
What I mean by this is that thereās a dude in this game whoās ult is ādamage you take heals you insteadā and itās automatically triggered when he gets low
Knowing how to play them is not much different than this
God yeah I remember learning how abbadon worked the hard way
Hilarious thing for a tank to do
Also we have a dota2 role you can add, we're quite active btw
My favorite thing to do as techies is to hit taser, just Blast Off into the enemy team, then signpost and plant as many mines as I can before they kill me
I doubt the lot of u are EU however
and in the process take out like 3 guys
2 of our main players are EU
huh
we're flexible!
(why is there no search bar for heroes)
Forum thread moment
though we usually queue USEAST for best ping for everyone reasons
On the hero screen? Just type
Also please for the love of god donāt use the default valve guides
nah only community guides
Other heroes I've taken a liking to include Lich/Ancient Apparition (who are the same spooky ice support dude but not quite), Rubick, whose gimmick is that his ult just lets him easily steal other people's spells and then use them better
Bounty Hunter, who goes invisible and then mugs people for their wallet
Visage blasts things to death with the help of two little gargoyles (still learning the micro there)
Tidehunter is just Chunk Slabman Supreme with big funny ult button
Generally, the torte de lini guides will give you a specific core build to follow in order, so you donāt have to think too hard about what to buy if youāre new to a hero, but thus tend to be slightly inflexible. The immortalfaith guides are a bit more freeform and are more of a āhereās whatās good so you donāt have to go sifting through the shopā once you know what to buy in what situations. Both have similar structures
Oh yeah vision is really important in this game
Not only due to how big the map is but also because there's a bunch of heroes who can easily spend the majority of the game invisible with no issue
Torte also gives better ability descriptions imo
what does this mean
Yeah torte guides are a bit more written out
ive heard people say that immortalfaiths skill builds are better but ĀÆ_(ć)_/ĀÆ
Yeah, I just wanna note the importance of spectator wards and dust of appearance
If you're fighting a Nyx or Bounty or Riki or something and nobody else on your team is using those, you will probably need to pick up that slack or suffer
Also donāt get into the habit of just upgrading what spells the build tells you to upgrade by default, some times you need a skill online earlier
Also, of course, anybody can just buy an item that can make them invisible, Glimmer Cape, so you have to watch for that too
i'd agree
Also, a good tip is to wait to level your first skill till the lv 1 teamfight and level what you need right then
But yes Dota is good but it is a Lot to adjust to
I enjoy it and have put like 70 hours into this game and am still figuring it out
Dota is good largely because it has Rubick in the game
I've been learning him, he's very fun and I see the appeal
Something magic about somebody ulting in a teamfight, going 'oh, cool!' and then just immediately stealing it and doing it yourself but better
I also learned that the increased cast range applies to everything, including shit like Axe's ult or Marci's toss
is there a way to increase the mini map size? (I might be missing the setting)
Not sure
did you queue "new player mode" ?
ah ok
GL those bots don't mess around
though, playing a support hero in a bot game byyourself is hard
Yeah, itās hard to do support things with bots
Ive found bot games mostly useful for practicing last hitting/ability combos in slightly more real conditions
they also punish you for being out of position really hard
Disruptor really do be disruptive
he really does
silencing items when you get the scepter seems extremely busted in teamfights
it is
its not super common sadly
the most annoying thing ever
The best thing ever
Someday I want to tp in as Weaver, get Glimpsed home, then Time Lapse back
heheheh
the guide mentioned you could do that
It's such a mean thing to do
Nothing worse than watching a Disruptor walk out of fog as you're teleporting
And just knowing "welp, guess I'm walking now"
Speaking of mean things, has anyone mentioned denies yet? They're a pretty significant difference between League and Dota
You can issue an attack order on friendly creeps that are below half health to attack them, if you kill them (denying them to your enemy) they get reduced xp, and no gold since they didn't get the last hit
This means laning into someone with significantly more attack damage can be very difficult, since they can just deny every creep
Ah yeah, wave management has a Lot more going on in dota
and is fuckin hard, I hate last hitting
Pulling is also a thing, you hit a neutral camp to make it angry and drag the neutrals to your creeps
So your wave goes off to fight and die to neutrals and their wave moves closer to your tower so you can CS in safety
the classic buyback timelapse in
is a good one too
Is it still possible to buyback during a Toss and instantly be there?
This why you buy refresher as disruptor to counter this
no, it happened in a pro game and got patched out
How did that work
when you're being tossed, your corpse is still moving
so if you buyback, you respawn at your corpse
Incredible
see it here at 1 minute
Tiny tosses Medusa
and I think this may have been the inciting incident for the change
It happened in a surprising number of pro games but yeah I think that was the big one
There are three sources of offensive Mute in the game as far as I remember, it has a very unique role in just turning people off if you get it
It's so funny when people get hit by it since it's countered by just. Sitting in the trees for 4 seconds
Unless Disrupter has placed a very cheeky ward
disruptor aghs, silencer 25, doom 25?
Yeah
Mute is silence + items? Or just silence items
Technically it's just items but there aren't any effects that don't apply both
I see
There are self mutes that apply only to items, since as Blink Dagger or Legion Commander duel
Semirelated, does bristle autocast quills while silenced?
Interesting
If wraith king is silenced when he dies with his ult up, does he die for real?
Nothing stops reincarnate
No, and unlike with Abaddon you can't break it either
Except him being out of mana
I would say league broadly tuned everything down except damage, and gave everyone a lot more short range mobility
and aimed for a more constrained and less weird design everywhere
streamlined
<@&877973728997294120> anyone for a game or two?
Perhaps
mayb
possibly
I could do a game, let me finish up this floor in Hades II
i was just using a synomn for maybe since everyone else was doing it
I can play and happily will
yea sure
Sorry my parents wanted to look at the northern lights hopefully
And so Iād rather not destroy my eyes while the lights are off by staring at my bright monitor
So I guess game 2
you can play monkey king 4?
@delicate jungle you there?
any hero can be played in any role. there is some very specific advanced and abstract bullshit pros have done as mk4 but doing it in a pub will almost always tilt at least one teammate and probably ruin the game
I think some heroes can't be 1
but most heroes can be most roles, but its not really a good idea
I used to just mash all random queue
You learn very quick how to support as any hero
<@&877973728997294120> anyone for some defence?
sure!
I'm in the middle of a Hades, should be good to hop in for game two though
i could
you can pause the hades and pick up where you left off
I generally prefer not to since it throws off my rhythm, but not sure this run is going anywhere, so I can boot up Dota
Give me like 5 mins
thats fair
@light urchin
huh what
why was I pinged lmao
another game happenign?
ye but were full
biggest fish I've seen yet
warlock is very fun
Tomzero and the five other hero
that is not tom, unfortunately
it is instead a dk who fed walking down this lane with my golems, which was unfortunate
i now have a % next to my badge which means i'm really a4 and actually could become a5 soon
although I think my current actual skill level is right around my current mmr. i could probably improve enough if I actually watched my own replays and focused on avoiding the mistakes I commonly make
im catchin up
Hell ya
pog
interesting interaction
if silencer casts last word on abaddon...
- when abaddon ult is triggered by the passive it will dispel last word before activiating
- when abaddon manually casts ult it will deal damage and potentially kill abaddon before the spell activates
did u find that out by accidentally killing urself
The int difference would have to be pretty big to cause a burst like that if he is not at the automatic threshold of activation but still kill him.
Though that is just a result of how "casting" a spell in dota works. If a spell happens "automatically" it is not counted as casting it, like bristleback
Even if last word was undispellable in this case it likely wouldn't damage abaddon for the auto ult activation, for instance
no i found it out when an abaddon with ult up and last word i applied to him died
i pick silencer
or he might have been trying to cast a different spell
if abaddon manually casts any spell while over the threshold it will cause last word to kill them
silve edge silencer is your abaddon counter ;p
dang, I gotta get to Ancient 4 to stay in the middle of the ranks
I should play ranked
<@&877973728997294120> gaming soon (im going to forage for breakfast and it'll be 10 minutes max till we hit queue)
I am the slbep, gl with game!
(relevant to convo in voice)
:(
Iād trust yatoro on ls support
It's sad that everyone I see that names themselves Yatoro is the most toxic p1 player
Behaviour reinforced
thanks for the carry, yatoro
after we picked up runes they typed "OMG i thought i was playing carry"
so we just had a pos 5 lifestealer instead of a griefer
Funky
<@&877973728997294120> bit later than usual, but anyone up for some Dota?
just started an ad D:
hmm, now who to bring my spectator's curse upon
I'm playing Definitely Enchantress
I have finally done it
Amazing
Man every ranked game I play is just the worst
nothing but crying
Never in the lane im in ofc that goes well but the other lane almost always breaks like 2mins in
i'm currently witnessing that happen to the enemy team
enemy Kunkka X-Marked their pudge who was running away from our mid DP, and in his last sliver of health pudge hooks the kunkka into our team
Feels like the key to any ranked game is just to have the stronger mental fortitude early
We even had a great comeback mostly but the damage was already done from huge map control losses while trying to tell our undying 3 that they didn't need to jungle
and that tombstone was more than enough to win our fights
Maybe I need to party queue with you tom in ranked
fine by me
I do think I need to be ranked to be able to do that though?
we're close enough mmr i think
Cause I know it sometimes lets us and sometimes doesn't?
12%, I'm a real Ancient 3 again
Divine
Sometimes I get the urge to calibrate my rank
This is reminding me why I don't
Thank you for your sacrifice
The strongest skill in ranked is muting everyone else
it kinda looks like divine
if you squint
I think I gained like 100 mmr in 2 games at least
I have to say this experience doesn't make me want to grind up higher especially playing support
Its so hard to get people to make good plays
It just takes so long to do ranked grind
I say this while having played 65 hours of V Rising in the past week
But that is less mental stress
Yeah ngl doing my ranked grind when uncalibrated really speeds it up lol
with io this problem is a lot worse than almost any other suppor
I've turly shot my self in the foot with my hero specs
you are kinda just like 2 extra item slots for a core
If you have a good game, you can make fights so easy though
Relo core in for easy kills
Bring core to rosh
This is such a sad way to look at io
oh true
okay four free item slots and sometimes a kinda worse but also kinda better tp scrolls is pretty sweet
Also you can share with other heros
i dont think io is very good in soloq ranked right now though.
the current social meta is supports have to blindpick first and IO needs like at least one person to stick to
Io is pretty good at winning lanes with lane winners
and a lot of the time you just don't get that
it's not reasonable to expect your teammates to effectively utilize their later picks
if i first pick lion 5 my carry picks spectre and ofc lane will be hard
Luckily my ranked games are hard beacuse of poor mental 95% of the time
:(
Usually easy pz when no one on the team gives up 3 mins in
when i won like 6 in a row to climb to a5 i had a couple games where we were behind
one i was sil with a cent and sky
and i said "its ok, cent will get blink and we can smoke with stomp sky ult"
and then we did that like 4 times in a row without anyone feeding and suddenly people stopped crying
in another the razor kinda just lost mid and was super weak but we didnt flame and eventually he became a real boy
Yeah for sure
i think finding an out that can be easily articulated is probably key in those situations
I'm a pro babysitter I promise
ya
It is why I have a positve solo game winrate
but sometimes it's hard to conceptualize something for the teammates focus on that they can focus on more easily than the defeat they have already created in their own minds
it seems to me that mental has even more wright in dota2 than lol, since these days lol games seem to just end by 20-25 minutes if one side gets a good lead and actually pushes their advantage
dota games seem to have a lot more comeback opportunities
I think part of it is the lack of surrender
In league if you roll a bad game you can gg out at 15
You kind of have to keep trying in Dota cause there isn't really another recourse, and there isn't a permanent buff you might lose out on like Dragon in league. You can always do something
Also a low amount of infinite scalers that can get a pretty hard stat advantage over the enemy, and even the ones that do have it most barely matter
I don't think the worse mental is mechanical
Apparently league is also really toxic
I think it might be a society thing, the population of people who play these games are less happy
League's toxicity suuucks and Dota is only mildly better by being heavier-handed on bad behavior
MOBAs are just, generally, the kind of game it gets easy to be angry about
A 40+ minute time commitment that can be won or lost often out of your control
I don't think it was this bad 5 years ago
That might be the nostalgia goggles honestly
honestly
I played dota 1
and dota 1 was heaps heaps more toxic than I have ever seen in dota 2
like incomparably so
I'm not talking about then, I mean pre covid
The racism in old dota alone really sucked
It kinda felt like the community split along ethnic gang lines
Everyone hated the Russians and the Brazilians and the Pinoys or whatever
god, that shit randomly popped up in the Dominions server once
and no-one in the mod team had any idea what the very ESL Dota player was trying to say, it seemed vaguely racist, but we actually had to go ask someone what half the words meant
i had a void on enemy team moment but he was on my team
im venge 5 i warded top rosh portal and its about to move over and enemy team wants to rosh because we have 2 dead
once first two enemies go through portal i shard stun them
then our void with aghs refresher kills three enemies who comes through the portal
and we get the rosh
glorious
next game mag3 buys midas and so does spec1 and we have no t2 towers at 18 minutes
yeah I'd stop playing dota after that too
ok that is pretty sick
<@&877973728997294120> anyone up for some Dota?
I'd love to try
Woah early morning dota
timezones damn
is this a "you're going to come play Early Morning Dota"? or just a comment on the time
ah, okay
To be fair I should be out of bed by now but itās quite comfy and I have nothing I need to be up for
Ahh rip :(
At least the skill balance was good
Their team has worse behavior which means they're more likely to tilt and throw the game
Play the odds
<@&877973728997294120> gamers?
After hockey game
I could dotes in like 5
I could Dote
Prrrrobably, I know Theyflower and Derpg were calling it, and I'm feeling somewhat tired myself
I'd join if we can get a 5-stack going but probably don't have the energy otherwise
Well if I play thats 3
Sadly Tom's friends got him elden ring and now he has to play that with them
How impolite of them
Right
Tom's not allowed to have fun, that's why he should come play Dota
I could maybe attempt the 2 stack with tron
I agree
We could also re-ping
oh dang this treasurte is work like $16
Any fancy effects?
Apparently yes
Oh thats cool
Tron, Were you looking to attempt a game or?
Seems like tron is maybe offline now
I very much fell asleep sorry
Really this is Tomās fault still
so true
;_;
Do you have anything more to say for yourself?
Lark is wrong in two ways here:
- I am actually allowed to have fun but also
- I have fun when I play Dota
at least it wasn't league

I think it can be hard to find the fun in losses for a lot of people
That's why I play rubick
I at least have a fun activity to do while the base is being destroyed
Some losses feel rough but like, I dunno
DotA is a lot more exciting for me than a lot of games, thereās a ton to think about, and do, all the time
I totally agree, its hard to have a bad time playing IO at least in my opinion. Similarly I've had some pretty crushing games but they usually don't stem from specifically the fact that I'm losing and more so related to some other external factors
yeah, that's part of the reason I love pango
all your buttons really do things even if you're having a bad game
Yeah I try to play characters I just like, enjoy the act of playing
Rubick and Techies are consistently really funny whether we're winning or not
I do enjoy Dota with a group, I find it can be a lot less pleasant in soloqueue
But that's why I only soloqueue AD
Fine, let me correct myself:
Tom is allowed to have fun, that's why he should have come and played Dota
<@&877973728997294120> my friend is in low priority queue who wants to play some single draft
ooh I'd be down
I can lend assistance in a bit
id love to join in a bit
we would be playing single draft, not all pick
so it might not be super noob friendly if you have a very small pool of heroes you can comfortably play
Single draft, for reference, gives you a random couple of heroes to pick from
Oooh low prio queuing, I might could join for game 2
@glossy stratus @olive moon we have concluded game 1
Wait you don't get crownfall tokens from single draft games even if you're not in low prio D:
It doesn't even get Snake Charmer tokens D::

That's not the one I'm thinking of either lol
Lol congrats
Blink timber is fun. Rough sometimes with how many other items you want on him
being able to have a way out after going in is pretty nice
Yeah, and I've seen a few clips of like
Charge up your aghs explosion, hook to a tree, blink on someone and pop your explosion and Q at the same time.
Just removing some poor drow ranger from existence
so that's what it feels like when I play alone and it matches me against relative newbies sort of
played treeant, did okay I think, but their lifestealer kept splitting bot and doing nothing else, in retrospect I should've just countered him but the issue was that without me present teamfights just get lost because of how everything else was going.
damned if I do damned if I dont
I have discovered what an actual smurf looks like
I do not think the 16-0 enigma was playing their first game
what did you think of solo queuing?
its not that different from LoL
except for the fact that it feels like LoL blindpick in that there's no "role" to queue into, you just gotta hope someone else doesn't have the same plan once you get into the lobby (to play P5 or P4 in my case)
I think ranked has role queue? I've never tried it though
It does yea
Role queue is the main appeal of ranked since yeah people will be either very petty or just indecisive on roles in normals
i think everyone should try ranked
its really not different to unranked except you maybe have fewer goofballs picking offlane TA
rolled TB arcana in the candyworks, had a cool gem to put in it
maybe I'll try some terrorblade
I dunno, mmr sounds like stress
it's kind of hidden, you can just never look for it
hmmmmm
it's a good talent but i think that win rate might be a lil high
i think the trends page might be broken
You know, just a talent so good it wins you this and the next 11.8 games, seems normal enough
It's been broken for a long while
I think if I remember from my looking it seemed to be accurate on numbers for Herald and then for whatever reason the lines stayed the same for every bracket while the numbers got more and more jank
I have that arcana in the candyworks too, I've just been sitting on it because I've only played tb a few times
imagine candyworks giving something other than 2013 bounty hunter sets
I got the tidehunter and kunkka announcer
Also 10 crownfall coins
I cannot complain about my luck
<@&877973728997294120>
was the @ necessary
Yes :v
Very
This was what was blocking progress to next section
yup
lol, that's a funny idea to gate progress
Oh huh
Can you actually go down the hole now?
Patch is perfectly timed to come out on my weekend
<@&877973728997294120> would anyone like to play some final games of the patch with Emily and I in about 10 minutes?
yes
But I am currently watching a basketball game with like 15 seconds remaining I might be a while
what's the basketball-to-real-seconds conversion?
i still have a min
im r
we were Marci+Io+Tidehunter
Who was laning with who?
me+emily as marci+io in the safelane, theyflower on tide with invoker offlane
I kinda figured
Though I wonder if io tide would be good
Always be anchor smashing
Probably would win lane but have trouble actually killing anything, but if you're tide you are probably playing for the team fight anyways
I might just overvalue bullying the carry out of lane
Itās not awful as yeah youāre very unkillable
You dive the carry repeatedly or cut
Makes sense
It functions a lot like axe io in lane I think but I think axe takes advantage better
axe has no built in mobility yes?
I reiterate that I wish I could not only have io in all my games but there was also second io who was exactly identical so both lanes could have one
Then you have no stuns
Thanks for figuring out the solution to the problem tron
Yeah he usually goes phase boots and also blink
I said this and immediately blanked on more than two cores with stuns
Nah you should still build boots
Like obviously itās way more but
And blink is improtant to
Relocate is good, but if youāre really good you relocate into trees and blink out into them
So they donāt see you
Is there ever a time you donāt build boots
And then ioās tether while it does give some bonus move speed itās not enough to skip boots
Io doesnāt build boots š
Because tether sets your move speed to the speed of the hero youāre tethered to
Unless itās over max speed
This is why heroes like wind ranger and weaver are pretty good with io
Yeah I dunno even on my greediest blink timing sk builds I still always get at least boots of speed
And slardar
Other heroes with amazing mobility will skip boots
Such a as weaver
Lycan also skips them since he runs fast in ult
whats the longest range "artillery" hero in dota?
Sniper surely
What do you mean by artillery
AA and snapfire both have artillery-like ults
squishy, lots of range, low mobility relatively high damage
like xerath if you know
Heās a lil guy and kinda chubby, but he has a big gun
any "mages" that do a similar thing?
Winter wyvern and AA can do similar things but need an aganims scepter to do it
i see
Skywrath
Yeah thatās all right clicking
For long range spell casting skywrath does that
And then thereās rubik
The closest that just casts damaging spells from afar would be skywrath, yeah. The next ones would be Zeus and Rubick
I wish I could have his passive on other heroes

Yeah his passive increases his cast range but quite a lot
Ability Draft time~
With an aether lens you can usually cast off screen
Also Keeper of the Light for long range casting
does sniper build aether lens?
Sniper is a right clicker
Dragon lance
So no
Sniper is mostly autoattacks, so he builds dragon lance
You could if you wanted a funny assassinate build
His spells are very long cast range baseline
im gonna assume thats the (what do you call basic/auto attacks in dota?) range item
Yep
Yes
(And it's just called attack range)
Auto attacks
ah its the same okay
If youāre looking for some other long distance squishys
Hoodwink is also kind of artillery-y
how many ranger characters are there in dota
(uses a ranged weapon, has a foresty/rangery theme)
so far I think I counted 3?
Around as many as there are ES
ES?
Earth spirit ember spirit earth shaker
huh
There are also 5 spirits and a spirit breaker(unrelated)
Also 1 of the spirits isnāt a spirit like the other
Sheās just vengeful
I don't think any of those are ranged
Nor are they rangers
I forget, are the brewlings technically spirits?
I donāt know anymore
o/
Damn have you finally found another pos1 main :v
ivoker p4?
Invoker canāt be a support, he doesnāt even have a stun
I am joking, but I also actually didnāt know that
If anything stunned I figured it was sunstrike
Not that you need a stun to be a support anyways but it is funny to say that
Sunstrike is just a nuke
Maybe itās linaās thing Im thinking of
yeah, Light Strike Array is the other delayed fireblast from the sky
I know why all of linaās abilities are named like that but it is still very funny to me
Dang they really did hint that this would be a patch note thing
tomorrow, forever
(i assume it's today)
Surely
Patch when
Itll be interesting, Im pretty sure if a real patch does happen itll be the first major patch Ill have actually played through
honestly, if you're around when it drops, I'd love to hear your reactions to a big dota patch
Im unfortunately not at my computer till the weekend but I might be able to chat about it anyhow if itās a reasonable hour
Bit weird to drop it so late but theyāve done it before
im sure they are trying to bring us the patch today
Full faith in that. Patch days have gotta be stressful as hell, especially when theyāre the big sweeping changes like the theorized āpassives for allā would be
https://www.dota2.com/patches/7.36 <@&877973728997294120>
Oh there we are
oooooh
The facets are interesting too
Feels like the Underlords take on different versions of the same base hero
reading the patch now
Yeah I just read that
Facets seem cool
Don't like that you choose before the game starts though
I'm always alt-tabbed during the strategy phase lmao
Strategy time is extended by 15/10/5 seconds for the 1/2/3 weeks immediately after a numbered patch
LOL
Well this is kinda cool I guess
@gaunt pivot
I feel like the heroes that just get 5 levels of a passive now got kinda screwed, not balancewise but in terms of getting new exciting stuff out of the patch
still, patch looks sweet
ARCANE ACCUMULATION
SPELL STEAL
Every time Rubick casts a spell, he gains +25 AoE Spell Radius Amplification for 20s. Multiple instances of this buff stack independently
YO
Mana Bars are always visible for enemies

Roshan's Banner
Item Reworked. Now grants invulnerability to all allied lane creeps in radius

Certified Dota Moment ā¢ļø
Also saw a beeg serpent ward
Whoa the bristle changes
This is like
Very cool
Im glad my guy did not get nerfed into oblivion
New Dota Labs Feature: "Persistent Range Indicators" -- If you hold Alt while right-clicking on either your experience indicator, attack range indicator (the stats part of portrait), or an ability/item, the game will draw a persistent range indicator in the world for it. You can only have at most one active at any given time, but it updates automatically when your attack/cast/AoE range changes
Level 1 warpath is fucking fascinating
Oh this is awesome
support riki real again?
clockwerk looks cool

return of cast speed stat
Hm, I wonder if that alters Earthshaker's combo potential
Can you sneak an enchant totem hit in without giving them an opportunity to pop BKB?
We can see the enemy mana bars now? Fuck it getting back into dota
yesssss
I remember that annoying me back when Legion Commander was a daringly new hero
do you think this is just a text error and the top line is the new ability, or did they just forget to describe the new ability?
also
š
How does this work?
items that give you stats are distributed evenly
like think of apex
nah 1 1 1
or it adds then averages it all again?
for something like 3 3 3 see the dark seer passive
dark seer passive does just floor int to their other stats
4 levels?
oh my god. support faceless void is now a thing. @manic nimbus
1st level active at game start, the remaining 3 each time you level track, is how I read the ones like this
Ah ok yeah that makes sense
@manic nimbus you can warp to people now
new relo strats
Assuming talents apply to Time Zone as though it's Chrono, I feel like offlane Void will be very solid, he gets 245 bonus attack speed without any items at 20
Pudge Io Centaur, the Return of the Fountain Hooks
yes
@manic nimbus lmao
@manic nimbus mars has a vision unlink
muerta can set her spawn point
I Am Going To Suck/Beat You To Death
