#Fallen London/Cultist Simulator

recently got Book of Hours and I've been enjoying s lot
I'm at a stage where I've unlocked a lot of rooms and i gotta read all the stuff i found and investigate the stuff I've already unlocked
I don't know if it's gauche to rain on a thread like this for a game people might be enjoying, but I think it's worth folks knowing if they were thinking about getting Book of Hours and didn't already know - I got about three hours in (mostly bashing my head off the game's systems) before realising Book of Hours was a game by Alexis Kennedy, who is decidedly not a good person. I'm frustrated that I've given money to that man because I should have known better
oh what did he do? i had no clue
multiple credible accusations of abuse and predatory behaviour, particularly directed at the women he hired
this all came to light about four years ago when other abusers in the industry were being named, it was one of the reasons he's now heading his own studio instead of at Failbetter
(he's also notoriously litigious so it's probably better to go search his name along with appropriate keywords rather than for me to go into specific detail on a public forum)
also I'm sorry for showing up and pissing on your thread 😦
I've honestly not kept up, I know there's ongoing drama (not least drama being actively stirred by Alexis)
geeeez okay thank you
i guess is good be one of the games i don't recommend people to purchase
I'm honestly so mad at myself for not joining the dots, it was only after getting really frustrated by the frankly kind of poor mechanical design of BoH that I went and checked who was behind it
must have forgotten to add the weather factory to my steam blocklist
i do like the "learning how the game works is a core gameplay" thing
not something i wanna do all the time but it's something interesting that doesn't get done often imo
Failbetter is still good
Some of the accusers still work with failbetter
And it is to my understanding the company basically forced him to leave due to an internal review
I should get back into fallen london if that's still maintained
Before the accusations were really made public
kinda wanna restart tbh, it's been so long ago that I forgot what my main storyline even was
I was doing nemesis at around 110? or something
getting one of the masters' name or something

Fallen London/Cultist Simulator
Failbetter is his victims

sorry for the double ping
if you want a hand I've gotten back in over the last couple years and I've got a very developed endgame account
no worries about pings, I'm one of those who like pings in the server
If i get back into it I probably want to start from scratch imo, I'll drag another friend in so I can progress with them
I meant more patronage and stuff
which can pretty drastically accelerate the levelling process
i don't remember how that works, what is patronage?
Persons of Some Importance, i.e. me can teach newer (skills <100) players classes that grant a shitload of skill progression
and since I'm a Paramount Presence I can teach two skills at once
i think i remember reaching that point but didn't know that was a thing i can do
that sounds pretty neat

comprehensive complete table of essentially everything in BoH
TL;DR for the big stuff
Early game: ||element of the soul selection always corresponds to a season, most common is bee silk journal, affects which skills you generate||
Skills: ||all skills apply to two branches, branches always generate the same two souls, e.g. preservation only gives Chor and Health, you can determine the souls they give based on the map, skills always generate the same soul element, e.g. desires and dissolutions always provides ereb or mettle||
do not maximize risk do not maximize risk do not maximize risk do not maximize risk do not maximize risk-AAAAAAAA
cowards! fools!
probably reasonable considering this run actually went pretty badly!
alright now we gotta kill it
who's letting biologists do astronomy
gfdi, I was doing really well, then forgot that adding a passion to Senior Position triggers a minor win
omg I forgot about this thread
Sunless Skies was free on epic recently and it's been pretty cool
Out of curiousity, how do people arrange their table in Cultist Sim?
Jennings.... what do you want from me here
