#dark tidings (Darktide for people in the searchbar)

The new mark is actually really helpful, for a while I was in the position of "this gun is perfect for my exact needs, and that's why I need to find a different gun" and I tried all kinds of substitutes.
I just had that experience trying to make revolver work on arbites lmao
before going 'wait they have bolt pistol'
One use case for my needs is swapping off Relic Blade when it's hot so I can avoid lockout without needing to get the power down animation, so a gun that can also handle people being in sword range is handy.
I tried the double barrel a little bit for this, but I think the scab health buffs hurt its damage thresholds, it felt like it couldn't kill when I needed it to.
The new bolt pistol mark with the bigger blast radius is actually double-perfect for my exact needs, since it both one-shots snipers and also brawls well with a horde
Anoint in Blood, the Zealot gun damage talent, has a big impact on the splash damage
So it plays like a rocket launcher in a crowd, it's exactly what I needed even moreso than the original mark.
I found this out in the lab, look how far apart the horde guys are when they explode
It can proc teammate compliments just shooting into crowds
But it also one-shots snipers.
I'll still run the Laspistol, it's genuinely fun and I adore it.
But just trying all kinds of things helped me refine my build a lot.
I had a similar instance with the Relic Blade, which I was talking about 100000 posts up. I started out with Cranial Grounding / Heat Sink because I wanted maximum uptime, buut then I tried other things to see what else I couuld get, and that's how I found the Heat Sink/Overload combo.
I was a little bummed out to find that, oh, the best uptime is actually "no heat management at all"
But then I circled back around and realized that if you use the new Zealot talent that gives 5s attack speed up on push, then a push > light (x4) combo can set up four stacks of Cranial Grounding before you turn it on really fast, so if you do manage heat and use that push speed talent, you can get even better uptimes on Cranial Grounding / Heatsink, the setup I started with that I didn't really understand how to get the most out of.
It ends up making powered off state a lot more useful
Or still able to get fast kills on headchop with Cranial Grounding finesse stacks cooking.
Have starting thing > try many new things > go back to original thing with a better idea how to use it.
This game is so much fun.
Wtf even is finesse?
If it's a stat on the gun you can mouse over it, if it's just the keyword it relates to weak spot damage and crit damage (it used to be both weak spot and crit damage and that changed because of double dipping)
edit: fixed after more research!
finesse the stat still sometimes affects crit damage, "finesse damage" from talents and blessings is basically improved weak spot damage
wait really? huh
didn't realize they changed it
on melee weapons it's basically always crit damage and weakspot damage yeag, and also attack speed
so does that mean there isn't a difference between weak spot damage and finesse damage now????
Correct, to my knowledge I can't tell a difference
Dang it, that Duelist patch note is the one I'm thinking of about the double dipping, I'll walk back my prior comment
An in-game glossary sure would help moments like this
heheho yeag when you said that I immediately thought you might have gotten it confused
and for sure
nothing is ever defined
oop sorry, ping
It’s almost as bad as MonHun games for not explaining what fucking anything is or does.
I do have no idea if it's a flat +50% damage boost or if it's a +50% on the weakspot/critical damage
The validation for crits including finesse is finesse_boost_amount = finesse_boost_amount + crit_boost_amount in scripts/utilities/attack/damage_calculation.lua
since afaik weapons have the same crit and weakspot bonus so it could just be a +50% on one of them
If you have to get this far into a game’s guts to figure out what a stat does, it’s bad design.
It's similar to when they just didn't explain what the heck Strength is (it was called Power)
edit: corrected the timeline
Also I feel like Darktide just has too many stats. How many things do you need to modify crit damage?
like the '3 different ways to say coherency aura radius' fiasco
D'oh this is what I mean, it's now Strength and it used to be Power
tbh I get the point of finesse
it's when you want something to be good at crits or weakspot hits but not stack insanely if you do both
and that's the only modifier other than plain crit damage I'm p sure
I’m just using it as an example.
also some ingame text is just wrong I think
iirc ingame this says it's up to +8% strength
tho it's token based and doesn't say
Yeah that's one where it's 8% per stack, up to 5 stacks
yeah but if you read the description it doesn't say anything about stacks
it says "up to 8%", not "8% per stack up to 5 stacks" or "up to 40%"
This is why I just ask you guys what to put where usually.
I don’t need an explanation, I just need to know what kills enemies the fastest.
That's why there's so many words about Darktide, there's a tons of ways to all arrive at about the fastest way to kill, it's mostly about picking what your play style is since it's all pretty close in performance on Auric and skewed a bit towards carapace and monsters on Havoc
havoc also completely kills a ton of playstyles with the hitmass changes
and makes ammo tight playstyles unplayable
So I ask you guys because it seems like you actually enjoy the granularity of the game’s systems and all I want to know is “How do I make this ball of Crushers go away?”
what class
Veteran at the moment.
dueling sword or kraks
I mostly yell at them.
or shredders
20 crushers with rotten armor and stims, just gotta keep swinging with a bit of brittleness if you can, chain axe or power weapons do about as good as it gets if you're not using uncanny dueling sword
I’m using a power falchion right now but I might go back to the chain axe once I’ve finished mastering the falchion.
Yeah the power falchion does about 1k damage per swing to carapace which takes a moment when high havoc crushers have 8000+ per crusher, though the power property lets it hit multiple crushers
Auric crushers have 6500 HP each which a krak with the talent busts good and is gonna take a bit of work with just about anything else
also do you have skirmisher
it is probably the most busted damage talent right now
Doesn’t help that they send a gorillion crushers at all times.
adding it to the growing list of "if you have this talent it's like you're playing a different game"
Last night I had one run where there was like four crushers and about a dozen maulers and behind them was I shit you not four snipers all at the same time, it was a nightmare.
Where did the Moebian 6th even find all these Ogryns
We didn’t survive.
There is a build for the Falchion that can one-shot most enemies, if you run Decapitator + Cranial Grounding blessings and take 30% Weakspot damage talent you can become the headsman of Atoma and enjoy enormous damage spikes on headchop.
I miss when they would send like at most two crushers and they were tough as nails and basically a mini boss.
I seem to remember that being a thing.
do you run kraks or shredders?
Krak.
also on a semi related note I think something might be fucked with the director, I'm seeing squads of specials even outside of shock gauntlet (tho rarely)
snipers I can get because their ai makes them stockpile, but it's been bombers, trappers, etc appearing in groups of 4
There's caps on the numbers of disablers that can be active based on the number of alive players, and extra disablers spawn when folks are way out of coherency, so I'm thinking in that case it's possible a strike group got spawned and a lonely trapper got spawned
are strike groups the same 3 specialists? even outside of shock gauntlet?
also, a tangent to the tangent heheho
extra disablers spawn when folks are way out of coherency
I think the bug where that switch can get stuck in the 'on' position after a death/leave is still present
Strike groups will spawn like 5-7 specialists, and each category has individual caps; the one below is for non-Havocs
chaos_beast_of_nurgle = 1,
chaos_hound = 2,
chaos_plague_ogryn = 2,
chaos_poxwalker_bomber = 3,
chaos_spawn = 2,
cultist_flamer = 2,
cultist_grenadier = 2,
cultist_mutant = 4,
flamer = 2,
grenadier = 3,
renegade_flamer = 2,
renegade_grenadier = 2,
renegade_netgunner = 2,
renegade_sniper = 3,```
Most of my knowledge on the subject is fuzzy because I learned about it in this reddit post:
https://www.reddit.com/r/DarkTide/comments/1mf1osk/the_specials_of_darktide_and_their_inner_workings/
and the rest from reading scripts/managers/pacing and the subfolders therein
I was today days old when I learned surges are a thing
everyone I've been playing with just blamed it on being in a bad spot that makes the director go wild
I got surged as a solo yesterday haha
and it makes sense with the rest of it, there weren't many disablers in the neverending stream of specialists guarding the rescue point, because they have their cap
🤔 imagine if surges had a vox broadcast when they triggered
Yeah kinda like the vox yelling at you at the bridge hold halfway through the water cartel mission
I'm glad to see they're putting out a number of cosmetics for Scum right away, including many as penance rewards, but it does make me very curious about the lack of Arbites ones
I wonder why GW is so tight fisted with regards to them specifically
I’m not sure
I think it’s notable that the cosmetics we got are everything in the new arbites kit
Some in red
But it’s weird how there’s not even recolors and it’s only the contents of the kit
I’d dig some early 40K stylings for them and such
If I had to guess
They’re being very conservative because arbites started life as naked judge dredd ripoffs
And they only want stuff which is definitively there’s appearing
Im guessing those are default/earnable ones and all the specific necromunda gangs will be cosmetic shop
More trenches!
the fleur-de-lis pattern on one leg and leopard print on the other is a pretty good fit
<@&1042950387478560878> play darktide?
sorry im saving my Darkside Dopamine Sensitivity (DDS) for the hive scum release
I am playing helldivers 2 until hive scum releases then I no life it for some months
plumbing‼️
ooh I love that fucked up tube arm
Giant Inquisition belt buckle.
current auric feels so weird
ime half the games you have to solo carry for at least a few minutes and the other half you could go afk and the remaining 3 wouldn't even care and blow past everything
although I am definitely biased by being part of the every lobby I see, it still feels super swingy
and I can't tell if that's a playerbase change or a change in auric itself, since the floor of auric didn't really change but the ceiling got a lot higher (double hi intensity, crusher changes)
what has everyone been experiencing in quickplay auric?
IME auric and auric maelstrom has always been pretty swingy
Sometimes the enemy director just goes sicko mode
And having teammates who know their team role well makes such a difference for smoothness
yeag, fair
with specialists, elites, or what?
Kind of just a lot of things happening at once?
sometimes the director be on demon time
and orchestrates hte perfect storm
Most auric games im in generally are smooth sailing until the storm hits and enough things go wrong at once that its unrecoverable
like a dude getting exploded off the side of the map coinciding with someone else getting netted into a flamer and a dog getting another, and the last guy getting stealth overheaded by a secret crusher
Or chaos spawn right at the elevator door followed by bursters
Oof that last one is me, I try to do a rez in stealth then a crusher just downs me by accident trying to kill my downed teammate when my until death is off cooldown
Or getting netted in stealth cause the trapper just fired at your teammate and you were vaguely in the direction and caught you instead
this activated a primal memory of all the times I had runs die after the dark communion elevator in havoc with a boss spawn
Ironically the most numerous boss spawns ive seen at an elevator is in auric.
Beast of Nurgle event and elevator started with a pack of crushers practically hugging the door and body blocked us, then just when we killed a few so we can sprint by while the other zealot was chorusing a beast of nurgle spawn and body blocked us again followed by several more when previous died with occasional bursters. I am certain we only didnt lose right there cause it was me and another zealot with prenerfed chorus and a vet with shout and shredders
i think the most incidental funny in the game is the massive rube goldberg death machines
where you like get thrown by an explosion into a charger who throws you into a net and then a flamer and a burster wombo combo your netted self
stuff like that
where you just throw your hands up and laugh
My favorite wombo wombo is netted by trapper into a mutant charging me right after being freed and throw me into another mutant charging at a teammate then that one throwing right against a daemonhost and triggering it
2 of the randos on my team said "wtf lol"
I like the ones where the mutant throws you into the Sniper shot who tags you mid air
MGL sniper right there with the trick shot
I've gotten burster chain-juggled into witches or off ledges so many times lol
I was in a havoc group and we must have had like 9 total games fail over the course of a week just from a boss spawning after the elevator and pulling all the elites on the bridge past the bridge we were on before we even left the elevator area
it happened 90% of games that got to that point in the mission heheho
Its been a while since I havoced but have theyve fixed daemonhost spawning in range of daemonhost rituals
no idea
but the rituals themselves often spawn in dumb spots where my teams only get survive because someone knows where they can spawn from previous games and solo rushes into some obtuse corner when the team leader asks where it is lmao
and they can still get triggered to fast progress at really odd times
A think that really irked me was when a daemonhost spawned within range of a ritual so stopping the ritual means itll trigger the nonritual daemonhost. Or we let the ritual end so we deal with only one
pain
the current havoc modifiers are really dumb
rotten armor, stims, aoe heal, and rituals
AoE heal put me off havoc already since its barely visible in a horde then rotten armor increasing HP made me nope
honestly I can't tell when aoe heal is a thing because I can't tell what's going on outside of "this thing is trying to kill me and I am trying to kill it and it's 6 friends"
and I just assume a friend took it's place instead of it being healed
the endless wall of crushers has a multitude
it does probably ruin all my on death procs tho 🤔
Gameplay from YouTube
https://www.rxddit.com/r/DarkTide/s/tasLGWMutq
Damn that dodge range is wild
The rocket AoE was a lot smaller than I expected
It's like smaller than a shredder
Despite the mushroom cloud
it might be a single target/anti armour variant of the shredder
the gameplay in the preview vid wasn't, uh, particularly impressive in terms of player skill so i wouldn't be surprised if it was just grabbed super quick for a teaser
i like the doomguy helmet
Wdym I fire semi auto guns into walkers all the time
My mind has trouble accepting those pistols as belonging in the 40k universe
They're showing off the weapons, not real gameplay.
it is funny how they just look like colts
did someone call for a webgun??
#mylorecompliance
I'm amazed to learn trappers are canon.
Darktide is such a love letter to the setting
It’s wild to me how many map details are lifted from terrain sets
Or cosmetics from a random model
Or etc
It’s very cool
especially the actually-cool parts of the setting, which is a breath of fresh air after space marine honestly
who buying the new dlc for tide dark
Me am, me very am
yeah same, cant wait for the dual wield stuff in particular
Is there a (rough) release date yet?
December 2nd I believe
I plan on it
Stubguns are real prevelant in 40k just not shown
We got a stub revolver in darktide
Autoguns
Lasguns are often seen as superior for large scale combat but stub weapons have a big benefit of being easy to produce so any backwater planet or underhive group can make a stub weapon in complete secrecy without any external aid from ad mech
Everything in the game uses direct inspiration from the tabletop
As cyan said it very much is a love letter and the design is incredibly lore accurate
Not even direct inspiration mostly every weapon is just straight up copied from the tabletop in design but the stats video gamified
Clearly you haven’t experienced the joy of playing necromunda against a delaque player who has spent all their credits on web guns lol
I'm fine with pistols existing. They just look too normal for 40k lol. Compare the pistol to the shotgun (and other weapons) in those images
only thing im confused by after reading the dev blogs are the stimms
will i be able to heal on the cartel special
Yeah the anachronistically normal colt .45 is honestly really funny for 40K
Unless you go way back to like Rogue Trader and first few editions, a lot of stuff was like, barely legally distinct things
possibly, but i think it would be in a very limited capacity
A lot of normal things do exist in 40k, it just is never shown as it's not interesting to many writers.
My brain can apparently accept using a perfectly normal crowbar as a weapon in 40k but recoils at a Colt .45 lmao
Needs to have a skull on the slide
Then it fits
Turn the cocking serrations into gothic arches
It looks like a styer hahn and mars automatic and maybe a browning 1901 all mashed together I enjoy
My question is how the reload animation would look like with dual pistols
They tease the start of the reload animation in the video linked above (the clips fall out), but don't show the rest
It'd be funny if they didn't and just grab 2 more loaded pistols
I really want that to be the case too lol
Unload mags, throw away pistols , grab new loaded pistols
"why do you unload the mags?" "Habit"
A ganger would do the mag eject just to cause extra problems for everyone else
Double the littering
New York reload
Honestly I would kill for a weapon where on running out of ammo you just hucked the thing at the enemy
Brain a rager with a 1911 traveling at baseball pitch speed because you're on Hella drugs
I'd want that for a flintock
Single shot that does good damage, thrown gun deals little damage but high stagger
Bully a gunner by throwing guns at its face
If hive scum then of course dual wield
multishot gun and the weapon special is you throwing the gun and if it has any shots left it makes an explosion that scales with the bullets in the gun
i want a shotgun with an underbarrel shotgun
are there even any guns with underbarrels
the closest we have is probably the arbites shotgun's special shells
underbarrels would be great tho 🙏
Shotgun that has an underbarrel but also overbarrel and side barrels
...now i actually want just a regular vet/zealot weapon that's a regular las with an underbarrel shotgun
longlas with a shotgun
Imagine a combi bolter with grenade launcher
hot
standard dual weapon reload is just 'lower the weapons off the screen, and then don't worry about it'
in most games that is
Like bolter, plasma, grenade?
Boltgun with underbarrel grenade launcher is a weapon option for house orlock in necromunda
Its also a weapon in SM2
You can see others reload in darktide right?
Itd be funny if you see a hive scum just lowers their weapon to their side and just bring it back up to reload it
Game should be brave, let an ogryn only have one magazine for the ripper and nade gauntlet, and let them be more serious melee weapons as well
Should be getting early preview gameplay today right?
mayhaps
wasn't expecting modders to provide this but now they have lmao
https://www.nexusmods.com/warhammer40kdarktide/mods/572
holy crap this might be the best mod
I think this is by the same guy who did the version that puts the descriptions in the text
Ah found it embargo ends in a bit less than 2 hours (when the video goes live) https://youtu.be/O16jW6uyXeA?si=UnvxtovNX7pf10O7
This is an early access version and may differ from the final product. Please be aware

Darktide's new class Hive Scum is coming to Darktide December 2...
Ok watched it, this is basically the definitive video on the new class
how does dual wielding work
Are there just specific dualies or can you equip two guns
Seems like it
I have to wait days and coping with the content creators previewing the launch trees
seems like which?
Specific weapons are duallies
The uzis and pistols are the only dual wield weapons
Shivs too
Oh yeah true
Desperado (the gun skill) lasts an insane amount of time, shivs have throwing knives as its alt attack that recharge on melee attack/kill, and a node that adds 5 stacks of toxin to your blitz is very good damage especially comboed with the stun nades
Yooo throwing knife on melee!
The customizable stims are just straight forwards buffs you would expect, good but nothing cool
Im currently watchinig a vid from mister E and it seems interesting its a dodge glass cannon and toughness talents arent easy to get with like say zealot
Oh and the placeable healing crate doesn't heal but removes 40 corruption overtime and then gives the team your stimm buffs
sigh im seated
This is cool sounding
Oh some of the ammo regen talents are pretty interesting, on elite kills you refill to 20% of your ammo if you have less than that
Also admech class totally confirmed lol
Its interesting cause one of the talents at the top is 50% threat reduction on dodge
Also yoooo you can reselect blitz by right clicking without setting trees by default now
You can do that with mods but good for console players and moddless PC players
hope that doesn't break the mod since that mod can do that with a lot more nodes than just blitz nodes heheho
That toxin grenade seems monsterous, basically ground fire but does strong damage but it enemies that die to it explode to do damage and spread the effect
Oh im betting most mods wont work on launch
Real real real
Melee immunity during slide talent seems interesting, im sure I will never mess that up and get killed by a crusher/mauler
Also stamina regen seems wild, its delay seems shorter than psyker
first video of the class from chocoB of all people
the literal opposite of the twitter clip gameplay
perfectly balanced
?
Ooooo damn blessed stims talent clears corruptions up to 50%, not just from current wound up to that 50% mark
i don't watch content creators, why are those two clips opposite?
It looks like Hive Scum is the actual gun class
choco is the ultra nightmare spicy cursed deathwish+++ mod solo runner
Its got insane ammo talents and just could actually use nothing but dual autoshredder spam constantly and be fine on ammo without using a melee weapon if you spec into it
needle pistol? nice didnt see that in any of the dev posts
There were some sneak peaks fatshark posted that was just baffling gameplay
The one where the needle pistol was shown shooting a random poxwalker
Good crowbar gameplay teaser
It was in the dev posts, just briefly mentioned like othe rweapons
needle pistol pierces all armor and poisons
looks like they got the good needler but shitty toxin
which is fair
mustve missed it then
The hive temu needler
nah it's homebrew toxin instead of the insanely deadly neurotoxin that's supposed to be in them
also you are, in fairness, shooting nurglites
sounds awesome tbh, armor piercing is something i could use
who probably have been poisoned the whole time
That is fair
Im surprised poison would work at all on nurgle infested outside of like virus bombs
special hive ganger trick poison
Good modeling for it imo
Oh hey partially on screen double pistol reload
rah i need my hands on those stub pistols
I was interested in going all in for shivs but seeing more of the talents I think I want to go all in on dual autoshredders and just go guns blazing and not touch melee
executioner stance vets (me) crying, gnashing their teeth at desperado
Desperado giving immunity to ranged attacks while the length increasing with short-ranged kills seems pretty wild. I'm surprised that the melee ability has a soft cap and a downside after it is done by comparison
Also it gives makes reloads not cost ammo from the reserves
And no sprint stamina cost
and ill probably take an non-class unique melee
I think it's funny that the Crowbar is explicitly stolen
Thats pretty funny out of every weapon they have
fits the class
Implies other weapons are either homemade or legitably bought on the underhive black market
Stimm supply is surprising to me because I would not have expected them to add that easy/straightforward of a heal
I wasnt able to tell what the saws special was, it's normal is already toxin and the special purple goo didnt seem to have a dot?
allegedly they hotnerfed desperado
Its only corruption heal but still very strong since its corruption immunity too
Brings up some questions about Hadron willing to work on them lol. Maybe she has special dialog
Not even released and already nerfed
the auto shredders look pretty standard made, possibly not homemade question mark
I could buy that it seemed too much in the vid
Oh, not regular healing too? Ok that makes sense
I expected it to last much less time
It doesnt work with base stims so no green stims AoE healing
But it has no wound restriction
Theorhetically with medkit combined itd heal your entire team fully
oh it looks sick
looks like a power drill but i aint complaining
I like how the gauntlets have hazard stripes
I love the what looks like tied up rubber bands on the mag
where the gauntlets at in the video
do you have a timestamp
Also that the "improvised shivs" have marks lmao
12 minutes or so
theres no one way to build a shiv
It's tech-heresy to not improvise your shiv via a known specification
Professionals have standards
The infamously standardized shivs
ok 2 needler marks
Shiv STCs
what the fuck is the stub pistols special
one is secondary fire explodes them and spreeads like fire
just doing tricks with it?
the other is more stagger and damage
looking at it it looks like more damage per shot
so probably for hitting breakpoints to one-shot a specialist or something
i reckon
the books have a steady back and forth between nurgle immunity and increasingly over the top hyperpoisons
welcome back victor saltzpyre with the pistol spin
Random but the attack speed stim lab talents is funny, have youve been so high your automatic gun just shoots much faster
toxins stack up really hard on bosses looks like
thats awesome
It seems to be the glass cannon of the game
all the stimms make you push the trigger harder which in turn causes the gun to shoot faster
it all makes sense
Whoever set Gunpsyker Veteran was right I feel
Spreading toxins seems to do as good of horde clear as flame staff for havoc but its passive as it spreads by itself, strong boss damage
You're huffing heavy gas into the action so it operates faster see
good point good point
also really seems to lack strong immediate kill options
needs to do a bunch of repeated hits
bringing a new meaning to gas operated firearm
Oh that CDR stim is gonna be nerfed, its like 300% CDR and works on stim crate ability and lets yoou spam stim crates every 10 seconds
Cause getting back your stim resets your stim crate ability too
day 1 maybe day 2 nerf
Id expect a prerelease nerf
I was already excited but now moreso, it seems even more glass cannon than psyker but with guns and drugs
i like the vibes
isn't exe stance already crying looking at scrier's gazekers and shout vets
like I think having exe stance but better around will increase the chance exe stance itself gets buffed again via comparison
it's how ogyrn charge got some of the qol zealot charge has always had
Voiced by Tim Bentinck, the voice of Victor Saltzpyre, the Heavy is a loud and aggressive Ogryn with extensive working experience among the cartels as gang muscle. Now he's lending his formidable brawn to Grendyl's warband together with the Hive Scum coming December 2nd.
This was an unexpected surprise. Sorry for the short video, but this was o...
Yooo
Also why is the heavy so articulate
He actually uses full sentences and proper grammar for an Ogryn
He has a degree in Russian literature
Russia still exists in 40k
Its like a ultrahistory degree at that point
Also if they make the gun jokes then this may be one of the most intelligent ogryn in the setting being able to do gun maintenance
anyone playing the uhhhhh stealth vet
BONEead implant working properly
specifically stealth vet? imo most of zealot stealth's tricks (like standing on top of consoles to avoid getting hit by stray attacks) work on vet stealth also and the builds that are good with stealth tend to be the same builds that are good with shout
Overclocked bonehead
i didn't really like stealth vet compared to stealth zealot, but that may be a dysfunction of trying to play them the same way
using stealth liberally as a defense and control tool, and blasting away with a boltgun
i'm just the opposite tbh - i get too tunnel visioned on backstabs as a stealth zealot
while stealth vet just kinda does everything
Still curious what the Arbites/Scum relationship (and lines) are gonna be like
stealth vet got indirectly nerfed by the cooldown changes- with such a big cooldown it benefited more from the % reductions (that psyker was vomitting everywhere) and each 3s reduction (from vet's own talent) was less likely to be wasted (esp. with 2 charges)
imo the biggest problem with stealth vet though, is that 80% of the time you could have shouted and done the exact same thing (or better), only 20% of the time does the stealth achieve more than an area knockdown and toughness restore would have
the talent tree changes do make this hurt less though because you're not paying additional tax if you want to have survivalist with stealth, before shout vet was straight up cheaper than stealth for most builds in addition to being way better
yeah, stealth has a 45s second cooldown (60s if you take the extra charge) so it can't really be used liberally like zealot stealth (30s cooldown with zealot's way better cooldown nodes) and shout (30s cooldown)
Hive Scum's up on the GamesLantern build editor if y'all want to peek the nodes, the overall shape of the tree is pretty similar to arbitrator
https://darktide.gameslantern.com/build-editor
The funny thing if you take Born Leader node on Vet and have like 180 toughness the stealth restores 36 toughness to the team which is just about 75% of a shout, this obviously falls apart fast because it's not gold toughness and also gets crunched by Havoc Toughness penalties, but I still laughed whenever I do it
vet can restore absurd amounts of toughness with born leader with no ability usage
🤔 I do have to ask if it works on toughness over time things like exe stance and confirmed kill
also, wouldn't shout do the same thing on top of the +50 flat gold toughness? since it also restores all of your toughness
You're right, that's 86 to the team, so it's more like 41% of a shout
I don't think the toughness regen on allies is that significant a part of shout anyways though, it's more a cool tech you can do if someone is actively getting hit
I do run born leader just to make sure I don't miss any demo team procs though
Demo team is an unsung hero of a node when there's 200-400 specials and elites at a go
unsung? it's probably the third or second best node in the game at this point heheheho
🤔 I can't believe it's still underrated, I remember a meteoric use rate rise when havoc first launched
does anyone want to play aurics/mid havoc right now?
Nurgle is disease, not poison
poison immunity would make nurglites incapable of getting drunk, which feels profoundly incorrect
It's also decay and his followers use toxins quite a bit
maybe the poison the hive scum use is soap
Nurgle's master of plague created a poison for primarchs
It wasn't even a disease it was straight up poison using Gulliman's blood
Part of death guard's resilience is to toxins and poisons like highly deadly atmospheres and gas weapons.
i have to imagine that nurglites are resistant to some poisons at a baseline, but it's not like poison is a single category of things that work in one way, so some random bullshit probably works
since magical fucked-up immune systems don't protect you against everything when you're like
john bozo perpetually dying of consumption
Its actually concentrated antibiotics
They're pretty resistant but not the most resistant out of the factions to toxins/poisons, that probably has to go to like Tyranids.
They're kind of resistant moreso cause like they're chugging along fine missing half of their body
Half your organs shut down due to a poison? It's like getting drunk all over again
It’s definitely necrons tbf
Also Bob the Random Cultist is probably, all things considered, somewhat less able to function while poisoned and with half his head missing than a typical Plague Marine
There actually used to be a sidebar in 40K explaining “don’t think about it” with regards to poison weapons working on Necrons
You know that's fair, although nurgle did manage to get Necrons once with a plague
“They use acid or something idk”
Also when you think about it
The Flayer Curse and Destroyers are both sort of Necron diseases
I mean that's true for most chaos cultist, most aren't like much more than humans. The daemons though
Nurgle I get though, it's not like a normal plague but it's a warp powered thing and Necrons don't deal with that well
Flayer is like, c'tan not warp but basically magic.
Magitech computer virus
I do like how Tyranids and nurgle get into one up contests
Nurgle has made worlds so rancid that not even hives would bother adapting to eat them
But also gorgon has made toxins that melted death guard to their bones then turned their bones mush
the dual colts look so fucking sick tbh
i was always mildly underwhelmed by the 'regular' guns in this game compared to shit like the plasma gun or the bolter but these have my attention
Desperado makes them not care about ammo
Actual gun class that can be fine only using gun
Cause apparently according to playtesters it easy to keep this going for minutes and that means you dont use ammo at all really
yeah and it looks like activating desperado just straight up generates ammo if you're out from what i've seen
Damn thats wild
.....with all of this shit, i think executioner's stance can afford to get its reload back
I just see if you take the many reload talents you can bullet hose with desperado
I expect nerfs but it seems like hive scum is incredibly fragile, it has several dodge related and damage negation stuff but actually bad at recovering toughness if hit and does real easily. I'd expect some of the stuff to be more glass cannony than other classes since at least according to Mister E its more fragile than psyker
damn this has the extending mechanics that exe stance should have
hope that gets backported
Hope so
I do think that there are vet builds that can be fine using only gun/blitz in auric
they fall off in havoc less from the ammo constraints and more from there being 100 crushers
Thing is Hive Scum could do it in havoc 40 it seems
also if you count staves as guns psyker has a ton of ranged only builds
the only thing i could think of are lasgun builds that functionally have infinite ammo
Well Hive Scum doesnt have to worry about peril
like uh, recon lazgun shock trooper + tons of crit
Just nonstop gunning with most any gun
yes
I made one earlier today heheho
the helbore is kinda niche, but if you could use it it can work. the infantry lasguns all seem kinda underwhelming at high levels from what i've seen?
Well its not just lasguns
recon lazgun holds up decently
right, i always forget recon cause i don't like that one haha
If you wanted you can use autogun bullethose with Hive Scum in havoc 40
it is very good but it is also "walk forward while hosing at head level" pilled
autoguns then? def not stuff like plasma or bolter
I have seen recon lazgun builds used decently in mid havoc but they start being less and less ranged only
Seeing the havoc 40 early access clips it has strong damage boosts against enemies affected by toxins so the dual shredders have strong rending and kills elites easily
even crushers? that will be insane heheho
Well not really crushers
Maulers, scab ragers, scab shotgunners yes
And theres a talent that makes toxin spread via AoE on death
the toxin damage itself seems relatively efficient against armoured targets like crushers from what i've seen
eh, I think vet can already hose down those things well enough
stuff like the needler and presumably the bonesaw seem like they will be good against them
The TTK seems as fast as plasma gun for vet, it just kills everything else armored much faster
It does guns better than vet it seems
Just a lot more squishy than vet
and vet does melee better than zealot *
it also only gets the infinite ammo at close range, so it is decidedly a spray and pray class
Petition to make vet the melee class
Hive Scum the gun class
Zealot the support class
/s
🤔 you could shoot people out of close range and still get the ammo from the people in close range though, right?
vet is the everything class heheho
zealot fell off hard support wise
tho zealot boss-slaying stocks went up
the other thing with vet is that you can chain executioner's stance with the recharge talent
Those stocks might be taken away by Hive Scum
you can't do that with scum
zealot is the "having 3.5 players and no bosses is definitely worth it" class
wdym
You can extend Hive Scum's desperado though
Its better than Exe stance for duration since its not a refresh but an extend
I don't think exe stance is really needed for infinite ammo vet anyways
though shout can make it annoying to get headshots
exec stance recharge starts as soon as you hit the button, whereas the scum's only starts recharging when it ends
oohhh
you can extend exec stance too? With the anti-gunner node i've kept it going for a minute + at a time
Its not an extend its a refresh of duration
exe stance basically has infinite uptime until your allies killsteal you enough or the fight ends
or you fight a boss
The moment you stop killing for like 5-8seconds it over
ah yeah, i see what you mean
Hive Scum is it extends by 3s, so you can bank duration it seems
the abilities look like they do completely different things anyways
hive scum has a mobility/ranged defense/ammo restore
exe stance has a damage boost, highlight, and toughness gen
the only thing that's the same is that they can't be used on melee weapons and refresh/extend
compared to scrier's gaze which is a damage boost, toughness gen, toughness dr, and also extends
scum does have a highlight too, but it highlights every enemy in range rather than priority ones, so different intention there
Gaze does generate peril so you have to manage it if you want it high but not at 100%
Both stance and desperado have an easier upkeep condition of kill
psyker has a few talents that quell on kill/shooting, though yeag more conditions for it
Yea Psyker you kind of have to invest more for the stronger effect
but ultimately, if we're comparing to vet, there's far more ranged builds than just exe stance
Hive Scum might be top tier support with stim crate
It heals corruption and it doesnt specify current wound
And theres a talent that heals up to 50% HP of corruption and also isnt restricted by wound
it's half right?
These are different talents
ah, hm
The crate can heal your team fully from corruption
apparently as of the new build it doesn't heal past wound limits
but 50% ignoring wound is worse than one wound for non-ogyrns without wound curios
since 50% is one wound in that case after being downed once
Thats fair, fully removing corruption is rather stronk
kind of bones its utility on zealots but w/e
They nerfed desperado so you dont get ranged immunity
yeah that always seemed pretty excessive lol
Not even out and getting nerfs
I wonder if they could do "immune to ranged attacks beyond close range"
well they want to avoid another arbitrator release i suppose
yeah
Thats funny cause theres a stupid silly CDR stim lab stim
although that already kind of happened with vet buffs
i think this would work, or at least major damage resist ro ranged attacks or something
just wondering if it's possible in-engine without tons of code changes
should be? Doesn't the ogryn taunt talent already do something similar?
which talent?
If Gameslantern is more current it seems like they nerfed the CDR stim labs
THe vid I saw for stim labs had 4 25% CDR additive nodes then ends in a 100% CDR multiplicative node
I don't think there's any thing in the game that cares about the distance of the thing attacking you
there's a lot of ranged attack only stuff but nothing with distance afaik
Which when I saw the vid I was like, Fatshark why I thought you wanted less CDR abuse
fatshark cannot do consistency
someone probably just didn't get the memo heheho
'cause it took fatshark 2-3 major updates to remember all the CDR nodes in the game after they declared that all cooldown should be +% for X time
i just want magic guns and i know the fuckass imperial factions aren't the place I'll ever get them 😭
please let us get away with a little bit of tech-heresy
and the language on coherency is still inconsistent despite them changing both of these nodes in the same update
It seems wild they lifted NDA on hive scum like today when early access content creators already played it for a bit to say its broken af, and theyre already nerfing stuff now after the vids have been released
i just want a warp rifle for my psyker
Power & Strength
Of the best mods is better descriptions so you know what things actually do and how it works
Granted they fixed many nodes that just didnt do what the description said like the psyker warp rending one that used to do nothing
I'm pretty sure I got that one fixed heheho
I had a playtester get really really angry at me after I said it did nothing
How so
and then it was fixed the next patch after I proved them wrong heho
Honestly I see it
I'm currently trying to decide if I should go that route again with an audio bug for arbites instead of dealing with Fourms
Fatshark devs does not get anything from the community unless it's from a playtester
Or a bug on the forum and that hinges on Julia to actually bring it up it seems
the bug I think exists and am contemplating digging more into: the arbites voice I use (and maybe others) does the fleshbag callout when there's a poxburster (?)
but I could totally see the devs forgetting fleshbag is a typical chaos spawn callout and re-using it for poxburster on arbites in which case it wouldn't be a bug even though it's really dumb
There have been leaked deleted DMs and such about how Julia and the official community managers don't have any direct contact to the dev team, only a contact with a fatshark employee not on the dev team and they just hope said contact actually brings it up
pain
It's one of the worst managed PR side I've seen in a company
honestly I'd want to have as many layers of insulation from any war-themed community also
There is some precedent, vermintide 2 was awful
Feedback was basically helldivers community and they just had to mute it from the dev team and have community liaisons bring things up
There’s often a bunch of shifting stuff with prerelease builds so it might not be feedback
I’ve always been a little puzzled why
side note, i really like the weird slang the scum have
looking forward to doornailing some perishers
We'll never know with FS
Vaguely wanna try to get into modding just to make a mod that plays Roller Mobster while you're using Hive Scum's Rampage ability
There's a new Ogryn personality in the patch, apparently
Which makes me wonder what new personalities the other classes could get down the line
yeah it sounds like it's going to be a ganger variant of the ogryn, which is fun
lot smarter than the other ones, funnily enough
Yeah, and we thought we already had the true Ogryn geezer in the Brawler but this guy is next level
Yeah, guess there's some survival of the fittest going on there in the underhive
Though I think the Bodyguard is also probably nearly this smart, he's just dealing with Low Gothic being a second language at the same time
I saw it pointed out that the addition of a fourth personality for Ogryn might indicate another gender locked class coming up, which would ship with four to begin with
Since they might have been concerned about a gender locked class with only three personalities being sold for the same price as ones with, effectively, six
i am surprised by how much FS are clearly willing to invest into voice work. my understanding is that it's not cheap
it's one of the two pillars that hold up their games
- insanely good feeling combat
- great and consistently updated voicework
If I had to guess its one of the few things that doesnt need explicit approval from GW
So they can just put a lot into it cause they dont have to wait for a response from someone at GW
the hogger's bridge bit from vermintide is permanently stuck in my head
"Elf?!"
"EEEEEEEEEEEEELF!!!!!!!!"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJLcgEZZjR8 (for reference)
-I cant deny that you know how to kill, elf
+Oh, this is nothing. You should have seen me at Hoggar's Bridge. Dozens, I claimed
_Hoggar's Bridge. Wait a minute...two Nuln regiments vanished without trace at Hoggar's Bridge.Elf? Elf?!
more generally i think the Tide games understand something that stuff like space marine doesn't, which is that a key part of Warhammer is the Brit Vibes
Saber is way to cautious with their writing in terms of personality
At least for the astartes, that one guard guy I can hear in my head
i imagine that might be GW? Space marine is supposed to be the big tentpole 40k game in a way that darktide isn't, so they might have to be more conservative generally
Darktide is one of those games
Its heavily curated by GW
I just think its Saber mostly
World War Z had incredibly forgettable dialogue
Evil Dead was ok but much lower par than the original show
Tbh, Fatshark is an exception more than Saber being bad.
darktide literally has matt ward writing for it too
also yeah fatshark is just, really good at picking and writing dialogue
Fatshark's writers and Voice Directors are fucking amazing
I mean, Saber is like x10 the size im sure they can afford a good writer like that if Darktide could
(as are the VAs mind, but VAs are only part of the equation)
for darktide a bunch of the lines were recorded with the VAs running on treadmills carrying fake lasguns
to "get the right tone"
which is hilarious
I think Fatshark is just good at what they do but they are held bunch a back by GW
At least they finally managed to get a topless cosmetic in
Only for one class, but it's something
Their dev time is quite fast if they are allowed to do something, Hive Scum came out like 6 months ago
Vermintide 2 took a while to get there but its design is pretty great
And a lot of that half the company was working on darktide
that's not necessarily a good thing, tbh
he's doing character writing, which is the thing everyone likes him doing, instead of codex writing, the thing everyone hates him doing
I will say getting Matt Ward to write but not having any space marines is peak troll
fair
If Matt Ward is allowed to write with space marines hes gonna make ultramarines the best guys and somehow involve Gulliman as a not so subtle mary sue
in a game without space marines in any way ever, matt ward isn't a cursed name
If Matt Ward was writing SM2 I'd have concerns
But yeah, here writing hive gangers running around with shitty pistols and prison shivs jumped up on 4 types of drugs he's fine
If only his favorite faction was Custodes, them being mary sues would be lore accurate
But yea FS chose Matt Ward in the one 40k setting he'd be great at, at story without any space marines
I dont think theres even any mentioned in passing
...i want a fatshark necron game
Imagine
sharktide but necrons or tomb kings
Id want Fatshark necromunda
Or Rogue Trader OG, theyd probably pull out some real obscure stuff out of the lore
I'm here for Orktide
WAAAAAAAAAAAGHTIDE
Why does mom let you have two FPS games?
The greater good
One of the Hive Scum's feminine personalities sounding like some of the traitors is going up confuse me for awhile
yeah specifically stealth vet because i wanna know if anyone else plays them
i've used stealth vet in aurics before, it's definitely more of a utility skill imo
i mostly use it for revives or to push objectives
i want to combine it with the shredder blessing that improves damage when you shoot someone in the back, but the problem with that is that you need to use the shredder autopistol
there's a talent that does that also but that's probably the only talent stealth works with that shout doesn't (tho idk, maybe the knockdown could be used to do that)
and you aren't going to be getting to use stealth that often to proc it anyways
I have a friend who played stealth vet a lot because they hated shout but apparently the cooldown changes kind of killed their builds
I myself played it a good while recently when I was grinding the related penance
the problem with stealth at optimal levels of play is that right now it's good at solving a problem that isn't really a problem and bad at solving the actual core things that plague you
it's good for doing mission stuff, picking up people who aren't otherwise being shit on by area denial, and repositioning to kill ranged units
unfortunately none of those things are necessary compared to killing all this karking armor that just showed up
i still think it has a niche but the game is not balanced toward showing that niche right now
30% extra damage for 5 seconds isn't much when there's 20 crushers in a row and they take 10% damage from your ranged from the mods
I think it also has some of the problems of revive shout where to having it to save other people you're putting yourself at risk of going down- sure you do have an extra charge, but it's not gonna come back that combat after you use one to Not Die yourself
I'm also not too sure on the "repositioning to kill ranged units" part because your options on where to reposition where you won't get gunned down/draw elites who can't see anyone else so the threat doesn't matter is often limited and if that's not the case you can slide up to them and shout 80% of the time to do the same thing
to add insult to injury, I think ignoring suppression is a more common havoc modifier side effect than ignoring other cc- though I still can't tell if stealth has suppression that matters in the first place
I'm partial to "Sah, yess Sah!" Orgyn myself. Just wants friends, rations, and to do good work for Em'prah.
thinking bout how hive scum can probably turn the yeehawvolver into a heavy machine gun with the ammo back to clip perk
one shotting elites should be trivial with it so that one bullet just keeps going
i just realized fem savant reminds me of the detective in Tusk
Idk if I’m gonna go bounty hunter or anarchist
I get the feeling ninety percent of scum are going to be anarchist
i feel like fem anarchist is gonna be the winner here, all that hooting and hollering in her ability lines really sells the personality
i'm probably gonna go male outlaw since i love being a contrarian
I am set on fem anarchist cause of the dev post that said it sounds terrifying
i might play fem outlaw, depends on the samples in the character creation menu
I looked them up
Yeah, I need to hear them in the menu
I love the fem bounty hunter voice
But the anarchist just sounds like she’s having the time of her life
Yeah, she's our front runner too
We love utterly unhinged characters and she sounds perfect
Is there a way to skip unlocking Aurics on a fresh toon or is it only the campaign that can be skipped
I think it’s just campaign
Maybe I'll try to get the "don't go down for 10 missions on Malice or higher" penance then while leveling
So far I’ve got (all female except Ogryn)
Oh that'll be a challenge
Legit
Because holy fuck is this class going to be made of paper
Loose cannon vet
Agitator zealot
Loner psyker
Fatalist arbitrator
Brawler ogryn
also having 3 other glass cannons in every lobby might reduce winrate a bit
also doing aurics without any talents is pain, esp. if you're using gear you can't speed along with mastery
It was about 18 missions for the campaign and another 8 or so to unlock Aurics if I remember right so in a different scenario I would gladly pay Fatshark for a level boost to save 15 hours of time, it's probably for the better for the playerbase that ain't a thing
tbh, the paid characters starting at like level 10-20 wouldn't be so bad (since the player probably already has a level 20+)
esp. arbites where it would have made more sense lore wise
I wish we got more guns, am starwing here
I do think the average player has trickled back up to aurics even if 4 copies of them don't really have a good chance to beat a damnation- they only need to win once in a while over a long period
if you have a friend they can pull you straight into aurics, but that friend's character better be able to make up for one player not having any abilities or you'll get mad pubs lel
Usually the power leveling on the other toons was on Damnation for a much chiller time yeah
Reginald did 4 hive scum havoc 40 and his conclusion was he's never going to do that again
Cause 4 glass cannons while amazing damage goes bad real quick
Yeah, you can pump damage but you die to a wet fart.
I'm going to be part of problem as one of the 4 hive scum in random parties
3 hive scum, one vet feeding them ammo and toughness
we call this the foreign consultant squad
i don't think they even need a vet for ammo lol
tbh i feel like the most useful fourth class would be a taunt ogryn? or maybe an arbitrator. just someone that can lock down a chokepoint
i also think the new ogryn class is probably gonna be the designated shithead one, just cause he's actually intelligent enough to actually be malicious, unlike the bully
you tell him off and he pulls out an IQ curve meme
Oh is everyone getting a new class?
just the ogryn, looks like
https://youtu.be/TTZojeJg8u4?si=IQb0rrx33kEQPkD-
Voiced by Tim Bentinck, the voice of Victor Saltzpyre, the Heavy is a loud and aggressive Ogryn with extensive working experience among the cartels as gang muscle. Now he's lending his formidable brawn to Grendyl's warband together with the Hive Scum coming December 2nd.
This was an unexpected surprise. Sorry for the short video, but this was o...
When the Hive Scum debuts, I wonder if they'll do a sale for Abarties on Steam?
considering that theres already a sale for the arbites that ends on Dec 11, yeah
and theres a -75% sale for the base game as well
Do we know what non-exclusive weapons Scum is gonna have?
I see they have combat axe
I think gameslantern has the full list already
I think I'm gonna do dual stub pistols and the heavy sword
Its also funny how all of the hive scum weapons only have 1 mark except for Needler and Shiv
2 marks on the shiv is so fucking funny
The bonesaw though looks interest it applies toxin on hit and you can use special to switch between chem and brittleness
Im definitely doing shivs though, you can throw them and it recharges on elite/special/backstabs and has all the knife blessings?
Uncanny Fleshtearer my beloved
Maybe I'm missing something, they kinda seem like they're gonna have a tough time with carapace since the only rending bonuses I see are on the top right chem stim and the melee active blitz, the shivs do have a pretty good carapace multiplier so maybe that's the secret sauce
I'm just a little scarred from this Havoc season of stimmed up rotten armor is all
Yea they seem great against bosses and hordes but bad at crushers and maulers
The rocket doesnt even one shot a crusher, you need to wait for the DoT very brief and it has a shorter AoE than kraks it seems
(vs maulers) if the chem dots work like other dots it'll count as hitting the flak chest which might be pretty good
it's a nerfed version of uncanny right? but even then it's going to be more rending than most builds get (+40% instead of +120%)
Yea it's 8% with 5 stacks
which is still really good imo
just not gamebreaking
Which I'm tin foil hatting that uncanny might be be nerfed to 40% across the board
Yea 40% is real good, it'll probably still be like a meta pick because crushers are tankier now
it got buffed since the first reveal
Damn
Lot of adjustments in a few days
I like all the early access content creators build videos for a class most people can't even use yet
marketing moment
have to have the hype before the launch so it comes out swinging
idk if gameslantern lists this anywhere, but i imagine the crowbar alt mode would be pretty effective against carapace too
uh, the needler also seems very effective at chewing through armour. actually, i wonder how a chem-gunslinger hybrid that used the needler would be?
Yeah Can Opener on the crowbar (distinct from Ogryn Ripper Can-Opener) for the brittleness looks like a good team play
Yeah, he seems to be basically a Warhammer Fantasy Ogre Tyrant, which is pretty fun
As much as I want to rocket launcher cause cool the gas nade seems nutty with the talent that let's it spread
Im eyeing the stun nades with the talent that gives them toxin stacks for a hybrid brawler/chem support
The Stub pistol special where the ganger spins the gun around increases accuracy lol
for real?
Lmao hell yeah
Peak
Yeah, it's special is a spin trick that gives perfect accuracy for a split second
Man, this is gonna be funny as an Arbites main.
I bet fatalist will either really get along with anarchist or really hate them
I want all the arbites interactions
New map though I bet would go hard with Hive Scum and gunning down trenches
I almost want to bet that Fatalist and Bounty Hunter have some interaction about having worked together in the past
They seem like the 2 arbites/scum that'd get along the best but if fatshark subverted that expectation and fatalist hates them for being exactly what wrong with the imperium but in the underhives instead of high terra.
Lmao that is a fair point actually, it would be the thing that Fatalist can point to and say "yeah I'm bad but I have to be here precisely because this guy exists"
Moreso like "people like you are why the imperium is so laughably rotten, high lords and cronies corrupted's laws and youre no different being gangers outside the law so its rotten in every corner of the imperium"
Especially towards the more noble hive scum personality
Fatalist thinking nothing they do can change the imperium in a meaningful way but theyre not making it worse than it already is kind of bitter mindset
On the other hand I want one of the other 2 begin to agree too much with Hive Scum and begin to show inklings of doubt about the Lex
The Fatalist is doing the best they think they can.
Which seems to also involve caving in a heretic’s skull with a shock maul a lot.
The Fatalist does kind of veer between "Doing their best in a hard world making hard choices" and "I joined the cops just to kill people"
The male one, at least, seems happy to enjoy the bloodthirsty part of the job
everyone in the lex is there to kill people tbh
if they weren't they'd be part of uh. any legal body other than the lex, which is there to collect tithes and kill people stopping them from collecting tithes
What's that one Fatalist kill streak line? "Slaughter should be efficient!"
yeah fatalist is a cynical asshole, for admittedly understandable reasons
and so is one of the hive scum personalities, by the looks of it
Darktide's new class Hive Scum is coming to Darktide December 2, 2025!
The Hive Scum comes screaming from the depths of the hive, leaving destruction and mayhem as they decimate their enemies with dual-wielding pistols & explosives from afar. Up close they are equally lethal, fighting dirty and tearing through enemies with makeshift saws, crow...
hell yea
Holy krak revolver gun Pysker is fun
scrier revolver innit
Dragon is correct
ooh
my reasoning was that assail covers up a lot of the weaknesses a revolver primary build would have (mostly ammo econ and reloading)
revolver, bolt pistol, and heavy laspistol (is there another? 🤔 ) are great imo if you can work with their weaknesses
oh wait no i have tried the bolt pistol
i thought it was just a bad version of the boltgun
in return for having a more generous draw
which was not a trade i cared for
worse damage, worse ammo, worse splash, worse fire rate, slightly worse accuracy
it has identical damage and arguably better accuracy since it sways less
the accuracy does get kind of ruined by the sway tweening bug imo
but it's also tac axe speed
sway was never an issue for me on the spearhead, i just prefer its superior ads accuracy
I vote bolt pistol the specialist gun ever
The laspistol is fun but like the lighter lasguns you want an autofire mod to save your index finger
my b on the damage though
there's also the fact the bolt pistol has assault speed sprint
ammo econ is fine if it takes 2 shots to kill, but it can certainly do 1 shot if you have time for surgical
which is a massive advantage
that's fair
laspistol has knife/dueling sword sprint speed so I usually pick that if it's an option tho
but arbites doesn't have it
what sprint speed does the spearhead have again? 'cause thammer is as slow as flamer so it's extraordinary painful
dogshit rate-wise, but i've never had much trouble managing it
not sure what this works out to in game
but it's positive tm
oh it's the arbites shotgun speed
so like +.27
hmm doesn't look like gameslantern has the sprint speed stats of weapons that don't have a variable sprint speed 😔
and also -.45 to .45 is just wrong because weapons don't cap at 100%
the curve can also be changed per weapon iirc if fatshark wills
realistically the stat spread should show 0% (unupgraded worse case), 60% (upgraded worst case), and 80% (upgraded best case)
I have three builds on all my characters and it's just picking a line in the tree and going down it. With some useful stuff from other parts of the trees too, like I have all the soulblaze stuff on all my psyker builds.
soulblaze is my least favorite part of psyker building tbh
"oh what if I make this cool build. oh wait I need to put on perilous combustion because that's way better- oh wait now I'm just shoving <original build idea> into a soulblaze build"
tho I haven't tried it as much with the new tree, I definitely should mess around with new assail pathing
Soulblaze is all or nothing yeah haha
🤔 to me it's more, "I could make the build better by swapping out X for Y" and then ending up swapping out the entire thing- and each step of the way I was making it better, even when I was just adding a sprinkle of soulblaze
tho ig after a certain point it stops being better at what I wanted it to be good at and just turns into staffslop tm
i don't think I've ever used a force staff once
i acknowledge that they're cracked
and have seen psykers do gnarly shit with em
but
I'm here to shoot warp lightning with one hand while spraying lead with the other
Yeah gun psyker rules hard
the ADS on the pistol is dead accurate.
The sights on the straight box magazine skins are better than the sights on the curved magazine skins.
I run mine with 60% stability and it reliably shoots the green off a scab's goggles across the map.
Put Run & Gun on it and its an incredible counter-sniper weapon.
oh god dammit really?
The curved sights you can get used to but the box sights are unbelievably sharp and clear by contrast.
Throw the mastery skin on and have a look at your sight picture.
Its like aftermarket tritium paint
This is why I like Extended Weapon Customization
Lets me put actually good sights on my guns
I usually ping whatever I'm trying to shoot at then shoot at it through my gun
which speaks to how bad sights are in this game, yeah
It's not 40k if you can see what you're shooting
one day, they'll get permission to add the weapon customization system
I had the strangest flashbang the other day when I realized my gun had a flashlight during a lights out mission
wish I could give all my guns flashlights,,,
gun mounted flashlight 3 times brighter than the body carried one that could use an arbitrarily large battery, curious
clearly a synergistic relationship between the machine spirits
the gun light gets excited to make someone get shot
(just tried it and I also agree)
left curved (mastery, second mark), right box (first mark, commissary skins)
sights in this game are, in general, oddly hazy
at least I can't get my graphics to display them them sharply
bring back gun sights as a .png
also whoever decided the reflex sights will have a reticule in the same shade of piss as enemies and the ground was a saboteur
Here's a screenshot of the mastery mark sight picture.
The posts are tall and dark, and they have bright white marks on them without any texture surrounding them.
The curved sights are also perfectly serviceable but htey are a bit noisier.
huh that's different from mine? 🤔
I didn't want to be rude but yours looks like a LOD model.
very potato'd, yes
But yeah, the posts being all black with those bright white markings make the box magazine skins very clear to aim with.
very strange how this one skin in particular is overly effected by worse models
oh I just noticed it gets way worse when not aiming down sights 💀
concerning!!
Don't let Hadron see the state of your weapon.
I pulled this shot from another clip I had on hand of a curved magazine sight picture for comparison
The posts being shorter and the bulk of the gun sitting higher make it a bit less clear, but the dots and the front post is still there.
But you can see what I mean by "the other sights are better"
I'm a long-time advocate for the iron sights in this game. They're intuitive and they're a fun bit of texture to learn how to use.
The infantry autogun had a pretty unique front post and I learned that it works great if you put the post over center mass and let the muzzle lift raise a burst of fire right up into headshot height.
I was a big fan of the old Helbore sights and it was a bit sad to see them take the interesting character out of them.
Might be because Fatshark didn't commission new designs for the Arbites? From what I heard a third party does all those purchasable cosmetics for them.
The Helbore sights genuinely hurt my eyes to use and created a massive accessibility issue with the weapon
Glad they're gone
theres no reason why Fatshark wouldnt do that, its GW that shuts down that stuff because of how anal they are with cosmetics
I think most if not all cosmetics is from the codexes or inspired by novels
I hope fatshark breaks from GW prison eventually
I love warhammer, FS makes great warhammer games, and they must be getting mad dosh for it
but I want to see what they'd do unconstrained
I wonder what IP theyd make if they made their own so no warhammer

what do you mean, this nurglite's pocket sandwich didn't break the 5 second rule
huh
how long does it usually take for the weapon customization mod to get updated in your experience?
i've been toying around with my vet bolter build again but i would strongly prefer choosing the sights on it
oh hey, aquilas for an event, that's nice
Leeets goooo
yippie
also a lot of unexpected qol in this update! like showing more info about the strike team's blitz/ammo resources
Event also gives aquillas
#1079236212239384597 message looks like there's already a temp fix for it made?
also for the modloader itself
also in that channel there's a pinned message with the known broken mods (the devs warned the modders early)
It’s usually like a day but sometimes they’re faster ime
When can I give shat fark my money
8 minutes from this message
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Oop
Can confirm. It goes so well with Assail.
Porchaced, at appointment rn but soon as I get back tide time
its out babeyy
lol his name is raximillian dragor
Hell yea
anyone playing at this exact time i need a party
what were they thinking
dude
Dude.
not even zealot got 15 sprint angle they got 5 and then they removed it
move fast, dont' get shot
Just press buttons good for 25-35 minutes straight and you’re invincible
Perfect class really
note: actually attacking may require you to press different buttons than the not dying buttons
I think I’m gonna stick with Arbitrator.
Run and Gun is on by default on the Dual Autopistols
So
Not really
Note there are like 5 toughness nodes on the entire tree, most of which are buried
You get the OP dodging nodes because if you get hit you go splat
reviving holy revenant discourse voice this seems OP
No wasted dots
Less holy revenant more the psyker dodge when you crit
I don't think it's a surprise to anyone that the Dual SMGs are very good at turning hordes into chum.
A ganger's best friend is someone who's dead
<@&1042950387478560878> JOIJ MEEE
it is time
eh they have some decent looking ones to start
I need to make a rule to give "Quick Game," a long break.
precision violence in particular is like the ogyrn/arbites "I hit stuff and don't even have to kill it" talents
It's becoming the "Have a bad time," button for me. 😓
imo only do quick play if you think you can solo for several minutes on that difficulty
or have a friend in your strike team you trust
For real. Otherwise, it leaves me feeling very frusterated over the whole game.
How's Hive Scum feel to play as
squishy but fast
I unfortunately can't give it a shot because my fucking OS is garbage and doesn't work with Nvidia drivers
Given how it just came out, people might not have much direct experience yet (since level 1 and 30 can be pretty different)
😔
yeah but literally just talking baselien stats
really low toughness, average hp, great stamina and stamina regen
though u need a fairly high level to get the big bonuses anyways
psyker with slightly more crit chance, speed, and double stamina regen
This class was made for me huh
Psyker is my current favorite
But I don’t love how slow they are
a lot of upgrades over psyker, only downgrade is (melee?) toughness damage taken while dodging
Psyker pays a lot of prices for infinite bullets
yes
tho hive scum is probably also paying some of that price with their talents and ability
(also, you can usually attack while sliding even without something like that)
Any suggestions on having an easier, less stressful time when it comes to playing Darktide? Would turing down the difficulty be better. Or would it be ideal to play with friends?
playing with someone you trust to have your back is the most reliably way imo
turning down the difficulty/making really resilient builds/avoiding quickplay and picking missions with no modifiers also help
An actual semi-organized group makes things a lot less stressful
All of those are great suggestions, thanks.
A quickplay is a bad place to test out your more sniper Vet build.
Yeah quickplay is kind of a grinder
You want generalist stuff since you don’t know what you’ll be with
Aye
Why I like my electrokinetic psyker, she's good for most any situation with only a few nominal weaknesses
Most notably being dealing with random snipers on the other end of the map
But even then I run bubble shield so
Lightning staff lmb is also at least credible for snipers
i'm comfortable playing quickplay but I play havoc 40 so it's like, quickplay whatever is not gonna phase me
Sometimes the stagger makes the follow up shots miss but otherwise it’s a pixel accurate gun
come along guy who keeps dying to chaff, I'll drag your carcass along if I have to
...god I wanna play Darktide
Too many times lately I've quick played only to almost immediately tpk
I've died before I even gained control at least twice (physics impulses bypass immunity I think)
though both of those times other people joining at the same time clutched lel
pat pat
I wonder what your time spent actually vulnerable would be with the dodge talents and agile on a tac axe
anyone want to grind the new mission? probably starting in a lower difficulty and moving to auric
you don't need dodge talents to agile dodge spam, but it'd probably be better yeag
plus hive scum can probably juice the axe pretty well even with one blessing spent on agile
iirc the main problem with agile spam is getting stuck in enemies
Yeah only so much room around a crusher ball
I guess you need the trust that high so that the Inquisition is willing to let you setup a stimm lab on the Mourningstae
Playing with friends is also good because you have someone to commiserate/make jokes with even if you don't actually succeed any more
I hate myself and always do quick play when by myself. But also I take great joy when people rage quit when they die but the team manages to squeak out a win anyways
Bot clutch never gets old
tru
i tried ogryn rp once and got no responses :(
some of the team said they were "directionally challenged" after struggling to navigate an area
so i said "dont worry, ogryn loves directions. got some from melk"
I often quickplay with another friend and we coined the term ablative teammates for this game and others
people who ragequit and get replaced by a fresh body
lmao
Rannick said no drug lab until you kill some more guys
IF THIS MF GETS 15 ZEALOT DESERVES ITS 5 BACK
Tbf hive scum has a lot less get out of jail free cards
They hardly have any TDR, getting hit is pretty bad
Unless you go middle tree and spec into melee it kind of gets tough but moreso like new psyker tough
So how is the Hive Scum so far
glass cannon that goes fast to not die
i feel like basically every talent inbetween the blitz and the aura is near-mandatory, the shit it does for your dodge looks crazy, taken together
desperado makes your reloads regenerate ammo and you unlock the double barrel shotgun almost imediately
Stim crate if you want to be support
