Aye
I did not know this was a thing, I don't think it appears on potato graphics at all 🤔
I remember hitting arms and not realizing it made me go crazy when I was trying to test some damage thing on the trapper
I think
I may be a Knife Vet convert
Fast as shit, weirdly good at horde clear, and when it isn't?
Just mow down a few poxwalkers with my big iron and go fucking nuts with the melee attack speed buff
Bonus points if you use the bonus damage after sprinting node with run n' gun revolver
I would but I find it feels vaguely too tedious for my tastes
...though maybe I'm just using it wrong
That attack speed buff is SO fucking fun though
It's a better blessing on the braced revolver than the aimed one yeah
Aimed one weapon spec you can take hand cannon and crucian
I do use a Run n Gun braced, I just don't care for the +damage after sprinting node for some reason
I know the braced is objectively worse in every single metric beyond ammo but it's so goddamn stylish
...god the braced revolver needs a buff BAD
Less spread namely
I believe it also has faster reload due to not being rounds-reload
...what is up with Clandestine Gloriana spamming the shit out of specials and elites
Particularly in the "power up the shuttle" sequence, it feels like half the shit that you're fighting is either an elite or a special
genuinely for that event it's because nobody understands how to do it and thus everyone gets overwhelmed fighting in weird places allowing 6 million waves to spawn
as a map as a whole, i genuinely think it's because of the verticality
anywhere you ahve multiple elevation levels more shit spawns
likely because spawn triggers for other levels get hit
Ugh
the intent for that event is you move with the electricity
it marches from left to right
and if you follow it you'll alwayws be on time for the resets
it's still not always easy, esp. since typically only one person will be following it and unable to defend themselves
and you can kinda get screwed by enemies in the way
it goes really fast if it works out though
and it prevents people from endlessly starting the sequence but never progressing
it's visible and starts in the back row
once you do the breaker for the row you can go to the leftmost pillar on the next row
when you succeed in time it'll skip having to wait for it to redo the entire sequence up to that point
and if you don't succeed in time you just restart as normal
I have never succeeded at the fast way in my entire life
One way to make the section easier if you have a team member specialized in deleting gunners is to post them up high due to LOS on the full grid and have 2 others on poxwalker/rager duty in the middle
Surgical Bolter or Vigilant Autogun does huge work
I have a couple times but usually I lose more health that way than if I had taken it slow because I dive the objectives unprotected lmao
and half my attempts I run into an elite pack spawn midway and have to give up and kill them
it could be maulers, ragers, gunners- stuff that will just Kill You if you try to do it in 3+ of their faces
Cool rave lights
<@&1042950387478560878> Who wants to do weekend Tidings
Is the vet 300 toughness
Damn vet can get 300 toughness?
270 is huge and might as well be 300, got a screen of the talent tree?
you bet
I sure hope this is using a gun with Inspiring Barrage blessing too
yeah
about that
I find killing the enemies first is also tankiness
I do have an auttogun with inspiring barrage
but the revolver is just so
This is pretty much my weapon spec Vet to a T except it's Sunder/Thrust on the melee
its a classic
have you tried weapon specialist's toughness regen? it can get really silly for passive upkeep if you swap back and forth after 1 kill every now and then (plus it'll make the revolver much less painful since you can also pick up the one that reloads it)
I have
I just have a deep hate for weapon specialist
understandable
it is very finnicky
Weapons specialist makes me switch weapons in situations where I should not be switching weapons
That's not how my brain works
also with the right weapons any moment is the right moment
bolt pistol is basically ideal
draw speed is instant, firing with the boom boom blessing staggers
My brain is wired to try and maximize the uptime
so you never lose time
Yeah the bolt pistol works really well
Weapon specialist just really doesn't work for me
rather than just swapping
I avoid the orgyn version as well
I have the opposite problem
I'll fidget with my weapons and then bam
no stacks
and running around at not-full while being actually full once you account for the pocket reload feels like an itch
I still run it because I have even greater issues with the targeting system (and being able to reload without actually reloading is really nice on revolver) but it's really annoying
I like middle tree vet for "no thinky only shooty"
Not talked in here for a bit but.. Erm.. How is the Combat Axe vs the Tactical Axe? What's like, the difference?
Combat axes can have better cleave and armor performance whereas tactical axes swing faster and crit more and crit harder - combat axes are good for big swings and tactical axes for many precise swings on weak spots
I see. Which would be a better pair with a shotgun?
Depends if you need a carapace buster or not - Brutal Momentum / Thunderous is a great combat axe combo for crushers and big targets while if you're using kraks or zealot charge or brain burst you can get away with tactical axe vs all other targets besides carapace
Stunstorm and relic.
yeah you'll want a combat axe in that case since shotgun can handle shooters and big big crowds while combat axe is a good generalist
tac axe is very silly and you can just light attack carapace to death if you sacrifice your ears to the clang clang clang
or maybe I was using it wrong when I mained it lmao
but it has a surprisingly good carapace mult on the lights and awful heavies
of course
the dueling sword can also do this, it just has better things to do
yeah light crits do like 340 damage and crit heavies do like 400 so it's much faster to chip it down with lights
Tried the duelling sword.. Just.. Just felt wrong.
which mark? and how were you using it?
No idea which mark, and it was just in testing.
So I was trying all its attacks.
try mark 4
it's the one people actually use
it's heavies are only stabs and it's lights are only swings
it has combat blade speed and is probably one of the best (if not the best) anti-armor melees in the game- and while it has lackluster hordeclear it's still perfectly useable against hordes
like comparing it to the tac axe I used
it's +.2 speed and useable heavies with similar lights
it's not for everyone but it can be used fairly flexibily
lights for hordes and heavies for stronger enemies
or heavies for everything
or mix more freely
Found a wild Mk.IV, gonna try it a second time.
it is definitely very 'stab everyone in the face' though
Perhaps it's because I'm testing it with a 44% damage one, but.. Wait hold on, you don't have to fully charge a heavy to get max damage? Now I feel very stupid.
yeah, charging only matters for thrust and an ogyrn talent iirc
it's mostly just holding it to wait for a better chance to swing
blessings will probably also help- it has access to a LOT of good ones like uncanny strike, and then a bunch of dodge related ones that won't do anything in testing
stat wise you can dump mobility and be faster than a tac axe that took max mobility iirc
Also charge time seems to matter on the Heavy Evicerator?
I don't think it actually makes a damage number difference
Yeah chain weapons are a little weird because you want them to cleave through folks but they'll sticky a little bit on the last folk
I thought unless you have something thay specifies fully charged, it is just the limit on how long you can hold a heavy attack. I've kind of been just releasing heavy Melee the moment it would be a heavy instead of light
Teammate grabs a grim, I type "4 da grimperor," this means there's time for two pox bursters to jump on me which kills me instantly from the extra corruption from the grim.
Peak Darktide!
If someone grabs a grim, I'm also grabbing one
If we're already on a timer we going hard
The whole team panicking while my stupid 75% corruption resistance ass not noticing I've picked up a grim and not a scripture
<@&1042950387478560878> anyone interested in couple games in about 70 minutes?
I’m down
Complications complications I'm on my way
@pine mountain
I'm still not dead, here's another funny to prove it! With some extra help..
I present the legendary Ogryn of the Medicae and its magnificent healing radiance. This spiralled from me starting to replay Darktide, so now you get to enjoy it as much as I.

...that is incredibly cool looking, holy shit
Give that a thrust+ brutal momentum crucis hammer for peak horde reaping vibes
I’m assuming that’s a tunder hammer
I took a break for like six months and come back to find that the recon lasgun is still stupid fun.
That’s all I needed to know.
It rules and all 3 of them rule in different ways, I've been doing sharpshooter stance with a chain axe and gold super marks
I usually carry a chain axe, but I’ve been eying the chainsword.
Big fan of Recon Lasgun mk7 for fun little gunpsyker and veteran builds
I mostly play Veteran. I like being able to mark targets and yell at people to get them on their feet.
Chain sword's super good too yeah
Which erm, makes a good "laser machine gun"?
[Reply to:](#1159883850562932826 message) It rules and all 3 of them rule in different ways, I've been doing sharpshooter stance with a chain …
I forgor because of the mark name change but I think it was the second one
iirc they're... the garden hose, the relatively normal, and the extra ammo consumption for penetrating shots
garden hose is comical with crit builds but the normal is what I'd take for sustained fire without all in crit investment
the penetrating one looks cool but is beaten at its job by the other two just shooting more and harder sadly
For most guns the blue mark shoots faster/weaker shots, the tan one shoots slower/stronger shots and the green one is the middle option. There's one or two exceptions but most are built like this.
Penetration is good for a horde clearing gun opposite a single-target melee weapon, that's the case with the braced autogun marks at least.
Respectfully disagree, the base punch through makes other blessings that add more better, all blessings/talents that add power add a combination of damage and pierce that makes it an excellent horde hose
2.7 cleave jumps up huge with strength bonuses
Psyker and the talent for cleave with warp makes it pretty nice at mixed hordes which makes disrupt destiny easy in a horde if you shoot in the general area of the glow
And high crit for the talent with burn stacks on crit. Fun but struggles against carapace
Praise the Emperor and pass the ammunition.
Maybe I should look up more stuff for darktide, I just learned about the shroudfield double stab
I understand knife for boss damage now
🤔 a lot of stuff seems like it'd be hard to look up (2025 internet moment)
A good amount of sources are before unlocked and unloaded, and then people parrot those posts without ever testing it but they are confident and reinforce the meta so up votes they get
Videos are mostly reliable assuming they're testing a single mechanic and you can literally see and replicate it in psykariun, but darktide content creators bore me that's entirely on me
a lot of the posts are also just wrong in the first place
but I was more talking about how most info is behind closed doors now in chats
lotsa word-of-mouth
Oh yea, trying to find information on darktide that isn't stuff on the top builds of the lantern is a pain
Toughness regen curio one was one I was like, it was so easy to just test it and no one questioned it and just assumed it was good for years
what about it?
trying to learn about darktide mechanics will just put you in a wash cycle of people arguing about tanner
It only applies to toughness granted by coherency really, which in most games you're constantly surrounded so it's turned off most of the time
tanner left after being deaththreated out of the community right?
surely people will pick a new scapegoat eventually
His early videos are really grating to me and I never watched it but a few of them are good sources on how mechanics work in detail
oh yeah [I will now share my hearsay]
it is useful on some ogyrn builds I've heard though
and notably it decreases the time for it to activate
however, last I heard there's still the bug where enemies doing prolonged death animations stall it
I don't play Ogyrn really so I don't know.
(my personal opinion on tanner is that they were usually right about stuff, but had a very distinct direction in mind for how the game should be changed to deal with these problems that most opposed, including me)
But you can get a funny loner build with triple toughness regen and the coherency talent. I wouldnt bring it to havoc 40 but it was fun
The truest game dev wisdom I will ever hear about community feedback. Being good at spotting problems isn't the same as good at solving problems and vice versa
I think it was more
they wanted vermintide 2: two
but everyone else who wants that is just still playing vermintide2, and the bulk of the darktide community has different wants
Yea that's how I hear it was, basically did a gamble and rehauled their early development into what it is now
I think trying to make VT2: 2 would be a disaster from a population (not gameplay) perspective: most of the people who want to play that already gave darktide their shot and went back to VT2, and it would alienate the players that came to darktide for what it offers now
also even if it succeeded, at best it just kills VT2, which is still being supported fully
I like DarkTide gameplay better than Vermintide 2. Vermintide 2 had great voice lines and the enemies were real tight knit designed and gameplay being slow means it benefits you a lot more to know mechanics and be methodical to hordes.
Vermintide also had the advantage of being released and updated for like 10nyears?
darktide is utter chaos and I enjoy that
very gremlin 🙂↕️
it tickles my misaligned brain
Darktide is quicker pace and generally more forgiving imo, you can get to auric maelstrom just based on fast reflexes and learned timing to compensate for not knowing mechanics as well. Which is what I would say before havoc was a thing
I like shooting and stabbing specialists
That's basically all I try to do. I think trappers have ended more runs than any other enemy for me
actually mortis trials makes me have to clarify that elites 'n stuff also have to be present otherwise specialist don't really work lmao
And all the monstrosities
Basically the very big distraction from the elites and specialists
I think I shall mortis now actually
need to grind it for some penances
Also the poxburster through a beast of nurgle or trapper shooting through ogyrns
mortis still doesn't remember difficulty lmao
gonna have to get the mod to fix that eventually ig
Lord this goes hard
Infantry autogun?
Tune in on 22 May at 18:00 CEST.

BOLTER, BAYBEEEEEEE
Genestealers fighting Admonition, maybe?
I doubt that it's a player class, too low to the ground and too fast
Cyber-mastiff perhaps?
Maybe, but that would necessitate a new class, and idk what niche a beastmaster would fill that the others don't
You've got your Shooty McShooterface, you've got your Angry Man With A Big Sword, you've got your Glass Cannon That's Actually Not Glass If You Play Well, and you've got your Big Tank, what role would a beastmaster serve?
I really, really hope it's not an ai companion class
those usually suck because you're at the whims of their ai
and the darktide targeting system would make them impossible to control on top of usually jank
(plus I don't think more classes is a good idea, more subclasses maybe, but more classes to inflate the grind further would be p lame imo)
I hope it's genestealers
somehow you look like this to me lmao
oops sorry ping
I wouldnt mind a new class if it's unique but was mentioned what niche would it fill? Darktide's classes have a lot of "subclass" options that cover the gambit
We still got room for a gunzerker
I think they also need more work to make more of them on par
gunzerker as in duel wielding or what?
Yeah like the Borderlands 2 class
all of the classes can kinda do that
just minus the dual wielding bit
vet'd probably fulfill the gun fantasy more if executioner's stance wasn't so subpar
I could maybe see like, dual shredder autopistols 🤔
but I don't think the game is meant to be goofy to the point of dual wielding rifles
at that point it'd probably be competing with psyker staves for clouds of damage 💀
...I forgot how skinny those base arms are, holy
I've been running stance a lot lately and the ammo efficiency is super noticeable
what are you doing with the guns? like what is the gameplay niche they fill in the executioner's stance build
Medium Recon lasgun one tapping mooks to the head with just enough cleave to get 2 poxwalkers with one shot
Dual bolter, you take shoulder damage
I wouldn't want a class added just to have a 5th. It'd have to be entirely new from current classes and given that darktide skill trees are really in-depth compared to most horde games thats a big ask.
If I had to add anything to classes it'd be extra nodes and talent as a part of revised thing but I don't imagine that'd happen that's a ton of dev to do. Destiny 2 did it with 2.0 and 3.0 classes but Bungo rakes in tons of money for CEO Pete's new car
I could see like partial replacements to the talent tree as interesting
but I don't think the devs have enough mastery over the current trees to remotely pull that off, they're too lopsided
plus it'd be complicated as hell @.@
Darktide's trees are pretty complex already, I don't really expect classes to ever be touched besides adjusting numbers for balance.
What is this teaser even
I hope it's not a pvp mode where one side is cultists and the other moebian 6
The trailer kind of looks like POV of something not human
Probably sefoni mentions a warp null and Tyranids mess with the warp by existing
...I think I might need to get that one mod that makes trappers more noisy
Yeah, that one
Zealot has never been worked the way the other three have and as the game has shaken out there's really just two builds.
crit and no-crit
Hey there's sneaky ninja crit, talk crit, and frontlines crit.
I feel pain when I look at Zealot tree when I've seen psyker and veteran
All they gotta do is swap Loner aura with literally any bonus and that tree will be wild
Veteran just has a lot of really good nodes near the bottom so you can't really grab them all. Psyker it's basically a web middle and down you can just reach any of them no matter where you start
It does have a bonus, If Loner Knife Zealot runs 3 rooms ahead and dies to a specialist then they get replaced with a teammate that sticks together.
"But doctor, I am the Loner Knife Zealot!"
I wished loner gave an aura bonus so your teammates aren't slightly downgraded for the coherency based stuff
Any vet that starts middle will never see the full bonus
It's like an anti aura for everyone else
yeah vet's build diversity is mostly bottom loaded although there's some side paths off the main route
this is basically every serious havoc vet build that isn't trying to meme a lil'
I do think zealot has more diversity here because the paths you can take to crit and no crit are varied
even if you generally want to hit the same broad strokes
fury of the faithful/chorus and beacon support/aura that does something in games that aren't the blight spreads
🤔 I don't think I've seen high level momentum builds, so I'd more define it as crit ability spam/martrydom and fury/chorus as the two main choices
like all of this isn't to say you can't run other things
they just won't accomplish as much and you'll have to try a lot harder
PUT THA KARKIN BOOT IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN
did I share the "delete chaos spawn" build someone showed me here
I respect the hustle
you can't get psykinetic aura with assail, and this makes me sad
🤔 looking at the trees, ogyrn also has some nodes that can't be selected with certain abilities (the two far sides)
I hate that if you take one skill you're locked out of a good 2-3 nodes that are really good
they buffed assail and nerfed psykinetic's aura
but it's still the best node in the game
psyker puts in a ton of work even (well, technically more) when not doing cookie-cutter though, it just loses the sheer support power
if they gave vet the ogyrn blitz treatment and moved demo stockpile (the nade recharge talent above shout that makes pathing to non-shout painful at times) to directly below the blitzes I'm betting build diversity up there would skyrocket, and the best vet builds would take a slight hit having to take a different node to get to voice of command
well. maybe not skyrocket too considerably for high havocs like I've been framing this with
my main issue is that not only is this the meta, you typically pay more tax nodes to play slightly off-meta than full meta
I will say Zealot has a similar dealio with this
Lot of the strong zealot nodes are near top
But always ends with invocation of death
fair
I love Zealot and the talents but the shape of the talent tree could use work
I think it's less problematic than vet tho because you can potentially deviate for less tax nodes
granted this will heavily limit your ability to pull off a crit build which is generally more effective
beacon being so important for blight spreads also forces some diversity
2 zealots with beacon feels bad if youre one of them
like the effective top right is at least on the total opposite side to the until death/duelist grouping
Yea like every other side just has a dense cluster of strong talents
Momentum is like Fury for non-crit builds. I run it on my Relic Blade and it lets me chunk 1/3 health off a monstrosity with dash heavy.
1/3rd health on what difficulty? damnation? mid havoc? high havoc?
Ideally the meta talents would be spread between the 3 paths, cause not many people even touch top left side. It'd be a big shakeup though and I imagine zealot mains would be very vocal about change
I touch top left exclusively to crutch with bleed for the emperor and martrydom 😂
it's definitely not good though
Martyr builds are the exception, triple wounds curios is a thing
I run double because I am awful at stamina management 😔
aurics
🤔 oh and with what ability
I love my push shove attacks, clear space and follow up with heavy. Alt into heavy is stamina free but there's situations you need some space
its stacked relic blade power on, 15 momentum, shroudfield dash heavy on weakspot/backstab finesse bonuses
it is a mini bonk
great on beasts of nurgle, getting both weakspot and backstab on chaos spawn or plague ogryn is trickier but you can still just get the weakspot or backstab finesse boost off shroudfield
and if anyone else in the party has a damage up aura that stacks too
lemme see if I have a video clip
I should cheerleader you with chorus someday lmao
for that sweet +30% damage
the shroudfield finesse boosts stack really nicely with whatever is going on with the dash heavy
thrusting attack/10 for sure
It's my favorite combo, I love to just run in and hit a monstrosity with my big sharp flagpole
My belief is crit builds are all or nothing, and since relic blade doesn't have good blessings to help sustain high crits I built it for no-crits
and that's Momentum
which does this
there's also martrydom
but that's more... demanding of build changes
🤔 kinda all or nothing also I guess
I think by definition is an "almost nothing" capstone
hm?
Does knife still 2 shot monsters on auric
I see videos of it but a lot has changed in 1-2 years
if it works in heresy/damnation respectively it should work in those aurics
and what conditions? (I don't really know, I mostly see thunder hammer/martrydom/stealth vets if they're not running crits)
oh its this guy
I don't know how it works, I didn't watch the full video
you can get double-attacks with shroudfield
there's about a half-second grace period when you activate where the effects will apply without dispelling it, I think to prevent losing cloak on mash
Oh yea I recently learned about the double stab
so you can prep a heavy attack, shroudfield just before it lands in the half-second window, get the finesse bonus, and then go around back to get a second one
🤔 I don't think knife has been nerfed in that time so it probably still works
I tried using knife but I didn't like how the combos worked so I gave up on it 😔
When I saw this I was lïke, it's not all that far off from martyr hammer damage but much less setup
wonder if it works on demonhosts also 🤔
It works on everything that has a weakspot and a back
like, to kill it before it can attack
I'm not trying for havoc 40 but at least auric maelstrom combat knife 6 has better horde clear and has similar breakpoints as 3, the big thing though is for overhead heavy you need to alt punch into heavy which to get a double stab I'm still trying to get
Double stab with knife 3 I've got down, DS has a huge window for double stabs
apparently my thunder hammer friend uses the double attacks 🤔
It's something I'm trying out
Isn't that what martyr is for? Faster swing to get within double stab window otherwise it swings too slow
The timing is on activating cloak, which you can do whenever. You can do it mid-swing or while charging heavy, you just press it before it lands.
wait this is with combat stim I think, can see it in the buff bar
That would explain it
massive rending and damage buff
I didn't realize it was that massive of a damage buff
25% damage AND rending
rending damage boost is always ??? due to depending on so many factors
I feel like... the knife shouldn't be able to so easily outperform the thunderhammer in its own single niche arena
What metric are you thinking because the Thunder Hammer boops monstrosities the best still
yeah the issue is primarily that the knife is better at basically everything else
but the thammer is still your one stop shop for monster beating
technically it's probably the dueling sword
also i kinda like having a drunken fanatic in rags with a knife just jumping poxwalkers
it's funny
I was seeing from that above video that the knife outperforms the thunder hammer at boss killing with just a couple buffs? Or was I misunderstanding something
The quick two shot seemed quite good
Combat stim, shroudfield double stab, and a stationary ogryn does wonders
In practice everything is flailing around and exploding and if you whiff the timing on one swing the hammer is more forgiving of follow ups
...oh mein gott that looks good as hell
Mod or ornament?
It's arguable, I think on paper knife can specialize better than DS. The biggest boon to DS is it's easy to use and pilot without building around it, using knife usually requires positioning or setup with bleed first or something and imo more things you need to do in a chaotic game like darktide means more opportunities to make mistakes. And ime mistakes are what ends runs once you're used to harder content.
it had a ton of buffs tbf
tanner makes a point about how it's not all the buffs
but combat stimm is huge
knife is probably still a lot simpler than some other weapons tho like relic blade
I'd agree with that, a big reason imo that it was considered the best before DS was available
It's basically like LMB spam with occasional heavy attacks from punch or shove and it can kill any enemy well.
Other weapons sans DS either need more setup or easy to use but can't deal with certain enemies well
...among who
us
What if the real heretics was the friends we made along the way? - My Ogryn, Jeen Stee Lur
I read a funny comment about the teaser video. They made Zealot be on all 4s because that's just normal knife zealot gameplay but lower
It's gonna just be a buffed poxhound event isn't it
Modifer where its only hounds
hounds can knock each other off I think???
Really thatd be funny
or at least somewhat interfere with each other while jumping at the same time (?)
but, hunting grounds is already a thing and anything more extreme than that will probably be easier, not harder, due to specialization
Mfw napalm grenade
They said its a "huge update"
so probably a cyber mastiff to match the rogue trader update (thematic 40k push in the background?) or genestealers
So is cyber mastiff like a class in rogue trader or a companion to an NPC?
I have no clue how it would fit as an ally, big if it was a class, maybe it's like a replacement to AI bots?
Cybermastiffs being short means they'll never block LoS really
I'd think it'd be a class if it is that
and if it is I'd expect it to go awfully as the problems with ai and the problems with the targeting system combine to cause as much issues as possible
If its a class i cant wait for all dog lobbies
just realized now you were probably asking about the other game
it's like a uh, subclass I guess?
the class system of the game has tiers and you pick one from each tier (?)
(* I didn't get very far and played before the update with pets)
1st sentence for rogue trader, 2nd for darktide
shouldnt knife be like... generally worse against armor? I guess from like a internal weapon balance perspective? It' feels weird for it to be like the... generalist really good weapon
You'd think one of the generalist weapons would be more decent at all-rounding, like the shovel or something
I think a lot of weapons are well rounded enough
so then the best ones are the ones that are also standout strong on top of well rounded
Darktide has never followed much sense to 40k, chain weapons are kind of just better than bladed ones in lore and power weapons are just objective upgrades as Melee weapons and relic blades are super rare power weapons to the point some space marine chapters and most inquisitors will never have them
To be fair, our power weapons and relic weapons seem kind of like the crappiest versions they have
and all the weapons are hand-me-downs
... maybe atoma is where weapons go to die after they've lived out their service lives lmao
Except the knife, I'd imagine even someone from Catachan would struggle to hurt a plague Ogyrn or carapace armor with one.
Also the knife should be larger
the fact that random mooks (even us as proven inquisitorial conscripts) can even be in the same room as thunder hammers and relic blades is wild
Even a broken broken relic blade would go in a chapter's halls for display
Power sword, ours is not good compared to working lore ones
Vet's one fizzles out after 3 swings, needs new batteries
Although now thinking about it, if we really did have a real catachan knife, it would have to come from a dead catachan
40k's expert wilderness survivalist, probably can live on any deathworld they can breath in, and maybe some they can't.
what if... we get all our weapons from gift stores
😆
"relic blade imitation (good for kids!)"
Imagine if that was true.
Brunt is getting chewed by Grendyl cause they can't be giving real power weapons to rejects, they're fake with lights so they go into a fight an Ogryn thinking they'll win and cheap to replace.
Brunt trying to explain they have no power weapons while Veteran is cutting flak with a light up blade
PC rejects just make it work
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH
The bolter is just funnily shaped slug
Loose cannon vet does think they're actually unkillable
not like, fake with lights, like extreme discount knockoffs
that are horrendously unsafe more than anything
because that's totally what they'd give to kids in 40k lmao
To be fair in 40k they'd give kids a real gun just in case
The exception is probably some agriworlds, cause some are so ladened with thick pesticides, fertilizers, and other chems that they're always in hazmat suits outside and a lasgun would ignite the mystery chemicals in the air and kill everyone in a large radius
yet more weight to the "Cult of the Warrior" theory that we're all indoctrinated into a psyker effect analogous to force battle meditation that juices us up into superhumans as long as we're fully bought into the act
Latent psykers are very real in 40k, it's possible Rejects are latent Psykers, even the Psyker.
I forgot if it was Yarrick or someone that basically because he's so fervant in his belief to conquer his enemies and/or others believd he's invincible so he solos an ork warboss which is a monster
Zealot for sure, holy relics are powerful but only certain people can actually channel it.
I wouldn't name all the rejects as latent psykers. The theory is that Grendel (or someone working for him) is the psyker who cultivates The Warrior identity that everyone gets indoctrinated to, and that somehow translates to the rejects all having Toughness and their miscellaneous feats of martial prowess.
...specials and elites need to be more "expensive" for the AI director to spawn
Tired of it constantly vomiting fifty of everything
Oh i see ive never heard of this theory but it makes sense thats what Sefoni is for and also mortus trials
ESPECIALLY on Hi Intensity Shock Trooper
That's literally the point of HIST, though
If you don't like it, don't play with the modifier
Shock Troop does make it spawn more specialists than normally possible
As for elites thats just hi intensity, if youre during auric all of them have hi intesity
Eh, true
Just feels excessive at times
it feels excessive because it is excessive; but that's part of the fun imo
Just playin with your buds, non stop screaming as the specials just keep coming and you're trying to work with them to keep pushing through
...part of my issue may just be my zealot doesn't have good enough "delete this" buttons
Tried the same mission with the same modifier with my Psyker and it went... marginally better?
Mostly because I was able to lock down the specials with smite and stagger the fuck out of everything with my voidblast staff
Wish voidblast was more effective vs specials and elites, it's mad fun
The zealot with the Revolver is pretty good at dropping specials on demand
If not that, the bolt pistol and laspistols are pretty decent at snap shooting specials
Slug shotty and non braced auto is also half way decent at it if you can work around the longer draw times
Also throwing knives iirc? Great for on demand special slapping, at least the up close ones
Holy shit SER KROOBAH???
Really? Zealot has blades of faith which one shot many specialists and is basically faster than you can draw a revolver, also revolver and bolt pistol are available for something longer.
Chorus just staggers everything, it's a pause button that grants gold toughness that sticks around
It sounds like you prefer cc, cause those aren't delete options they're mostly stun locking unless voidblast can one shot more things than I remember
blades of faith have a sharp drop-off arc and take a bit of aim compensation to hit some faraway targets
It is one of the zealots delete options but not the only one, hence the gun options work fine under 30+ havoc
Issue: Blades of Faith requires good aim
Which I lack
I play on controller too so it's INCREDIBLY hard to aim them
I used to use them alongside a flamthrower but then I realized it just wasn't worth the effort when I could just get a bolt pistol and throw fire nades
Ope that would do it for lack of ranged delete options on zealot
Yeah lmao
I redid my UI and theres so much less clutter
I just got back in and I mostly play on Malice. I haven’t seen a weapon drop that is stronger than what I’ve got already, do I have to play on a higher difficulty or what?
Drops cap at 380, you need to upgrade for 500
Also I wish it’d stop giving me an autogun after every mission. If I wanted to use something that wasn’t a lasgun, I wouldn’t be playing the closest thing we have to Imperial Guard Simulator.
But that’s just a gripe.
I think the strongest thing I have is 490?
ah wherever I’ll figure it out after work tomorrow.
Blessings are probably the most important part unless its real low its costly to upgrade
Malice runs tend to drop blues so those are pretty good for getting mastery levels up
the whole itemization system is completely different in both how it works and what you do with it
Aye, they revamped it for the better
I would just suggest buying something in the shop instead of working with drops
then you can cruise around with it to unlock the mastery to upgrade it a bit
and eventually get a minmaxed version you like opportunitically
you can also spam buy (from the store that always has everything at low quality) stuff for stats but I've never had the need
eventually you will build up a ton of random drops which will be nice when you're trying out new gear, but it's hella biased towards the earlier weapons as far as I can tell
I may be addicted to deleting specialists
I use vigilant autogun which is not the fastest at killing but is fairly accurate at range and staggers basically immediately
that alongside a surprisingly fast fire rate lets me stunlock specials extremely quickly then adjust my aim to finish them off, even in panic scenarios
no idea how it'll go on controller though
also ds4 for melee deletion and blades of faith for mid-range deletion, ammo saving, and when you get caught out mid reload
but the vigilant autogun is good at any range, just annoying to constantly reload after dealing with mid range enemies
the ammo economy can deal and the reloads aren't too long
it's just annoying lmao
I swear this is the least-stable game I've ever played and I've played heavily modded STALKER.
I have done literally nothing different with my computer and Darktide started spitting out an error asking if I could run D3L3Ldld or some shit and then validating the files just seems to have broken it worse, so I've uninstalled it entirely and I'll try again later.
Nope, vanilla.
That's pretty odd, I don't think I've run into issues with the vanilla game
what are your graphics settings on?
some people have constant issues
console in particular used to consistently crash like, every other game
Ah I don't play console at all
it's not limited to just console
I do have issues but I trace it back to my many mods
It's always a mod, except for network and latency but that doesn't crash games but just makes hit boxes wonky
my game basically never crashes outside of certain circumstances (usually involving going on certain screens without loading the mourningstar) that are 100% reliable crashes
but also I have potato'd it to hell and back 💀
I do have a very beefy computer
I definitely wouldn't run into crashes from maxing out performance
not familiar with D3L3Ldld but some tests on your computer might help
I will say darktide is hard on many PCs
Lot of enemies and poor memory garbage collection issues leading to run out of memory unless you got much vram and ram
It resets all the graphics settings every coupla patches so I was gonna say maybe check if DLSS or AMD frame generation got turned on for some reason but install and try later is a pretty solid play too
also: when are the errors occuring? on boot? on initial load? on continued play?
Random fact but for a while darktide's FSR 3 setting was actually only fsr 2, they changed it to 3 while working on fsr 3 but were using 2 behind the scenes
And now it has real fsr 3 but behind the scenes it's labeled as 2
It messes with me when I sift through configs
It would fire up the launcher, then crash when I hit play.
hm, if a total reinstall like you're planning doesn't fix it, I'd check if steam cloud saved some bricked settings somehow, and then check to see if there's any known problems with your hardware and darktide
and also do some memory/hardware tests if the problems persist
Maybe corrupted user configs. I'd check %AppData%/Fatshark/DarkTide and look for a user_settings.config. Create a copy of it as a backup, then delete it and run the game again to see if it makes a good configs
Looks like I just needed to update my GPU drivers. I didn’t notice there was an update.
Is it just me or is +3 stamina curios real common
I buy the max stats curios from brunt for the fun of it and I only have one 17% toughness curio, 4 21% HP curios, and 10 +3 Stamina Curios
yes
there's some oddness where if it displays +3 it might not be (at 400 and lower)
🤔 unsure how much this happens to the others
I would guess for the proportions that maybe there's more range of +3 because that's only 3 buckets while 21% is a lot more, but honestly don't know
I do think I have more 17% toughnesses than 21% healths but I pay more attention to the toughnesses
which could also be, it's way easier to see a +3 and go 'oh hey maxed curio' at a glance
(and to anyone else reading this wondering how we get so many maxed ones, imo it's mostly a matter of having mods to check faster ie being able to do so from the main menu without loading the mourningstar 4 times)
I forgot that was a mod, I'm so used to it
Dang rng hates me then
basically all qol features are mods
except the psykinarium in a more central location which was only done for the mortis update because the shooting range was so painful to get to that they had to do something about it
They want people to see the meticulously modeled ogryn sized psy beds
What are recommendations for a recon lasgun blessing, etc.?
i konw its early...but anyone wanna play?
Crit chances and the blessing that applies burning on crit
Gotcha.
Fast recon lasgun likes the crit / burn blessings
Medium recon lasgun goes good with defensive stuff like hit and run and stripped down, or can spec offensively with Dumdum / Deathspitter.
Heavy lasgun actually goes kinda hard with the sustained fire / weak spot burst options but also does pretty good with the dumdum/deathspitter combo too
The recon is my favorite because I tend to prefer a bullet hose.
I like it with my faux kasrkin set up because it's the closest to me to how I imagine hotshot lasguns to feel, more so than the helbore. The Recon has a spec ops vibe
Yeah the one that gives toughness on crit goes good with the turbo crits of the recon las
Gunker is pretty fun
I wish I could swap out the attachments. I want a bayonet.
Have you persnips taken a look at Extended Weapon Customization
No?
Should definitely give it a spin, I'm not sure if it'll let you stick a bayonet on the gun you're thinking of though
Where’s that?
It’s a mod, it won’t add the ability to stab but it does look cool
I’m good.
mods can't add mechanics, even the flashlights it adds are essentially just an extra local light (and thus don't trigger demonhosts)
The main thing I've ever wanted out of that mod is better sights on the helbore. But I've never wanted that enough to install it
yeah I hate darktide sights
I think they’re perfectly adequate.
ehhh
most of the guns I use basically don't have sights and you cover what you want to shoot with the entire gun and hope it hits
some of the lazguns have actual sights but I'd still say they're not up to shooter-game standards
the game being as tight as it is but hellbore STILL having a bare rail because they never got around to scope customization is peak fatshark
honestly I don't consider darktide a shooter I consider it a horde shooter where fine aiming usually falls by the wayside
'imperium quality sights'
hmm
taking it to the vr I guess the revolver's sight is usable for sharpshooting
but it's not clear enough for snap shooting which is the vast majority of my shots
which guns' sights do you like? or at least tolerate?
which guns are those?
If you have trouble aiming irons you can ping your target and see their outline through the gun
putting your crosshairs on your target and then entering ADS helps, as well as raising the sights up from below or diagonally below
I’ve never used anything but a lasgun except for trying out a bolt pistol a couple of times because why the hell would I use an autogun in the closest thing I’m ever going to get to Imperial Guard Simulator?
All of the lasgun sights have been perfectly adequate.
I actually really like the holo sight on the infantry lasguns because it looks like a little chapel. It’s cool.
and you aim it by putting a bell in it
huh guess I've been doing that subconsciously
I realllly like pinging before I shoot
and, vigilant autogun and revolver mostly
The lasguns and laspistol are basically the only things that use reflex sights, everything else uses irons or some amount of squinting
yeah the laz weapons are the few weapons with holographic sights, purposefully an exception to how the bulk of other weapons act
Praise the Emperor and pass the ammunition.
I mostly use a recon lasgun that has iron sights and they’re also perfectly adequate. Not great, but good enough.
so if the weapons explicitly designed with different sights are 'adequate' I don't think that bodes well for the rest of the game
the helbore irons are very helpful and easy to aim witj if you start to see the FedEx Arrow in them: you know that big slab of gutter that makes up the rear sight? It forms a big triangle that points where its gonna shoot
I’ll give an autogun a chance and tell you what I think.
you can use whatever you want
there's a whole genre of guns that hipfire instead of ADS
pack a plasma gun or a braced auto and don't even worry about sights
then you get a crosshair
which is as good as it gets for sights imo
iron sights genuinely work fine but if you don't know how to use them they might not make as much sense
okay vigilant autogun doesn't have as bad sights as I remember, and that's probably because it's still not clear enough to use at the speed of the game
so I just do the ping and cover with gun thing
I actively avoid overcharging the plasma
I am open to learn
tangentally, the way the rumbler sights work is you put the line that matches the width of the shoulders on the guy you want to shoot on their shoulders and your arc will hit them
I think that's standard, only charging to cleave through walls
iron sights require you to focus your eyes on the front blade of the sight and put that where you want to shoot. The front post is your crosshair.
it'll shoot right where you're pointing it
I'm not really following how else it would work? which makes me worry I'm misinterpreting that
I'm not sure how else it would work that wouldn't work
Except for maneuvering the gun frame covering your target
If you can see what you want to shoot and put the front post on their head and click then they die, and it being an open sight instead of a closed scope allows for better peripheral awareness to move between targets
The front post is w i d e
I have been spoiled by games that have scope innards and no frame to obscure stuff with ig lmao
its as wide as a human head at range
cover the head, or put it just under their chin and see how that works
if you ping you can see the outline through the sights, which can help you acclimate to how to aim where you can shoot the green off a sniper peeking from a high platform without pinging
...god could you imagine if the thing in the trailer wasn't a pox hound, wasn't a cyber mastiff, wasn't even a jean stealer
But was instead a squig
No genestealer cults, no new classes, no halfassed pox hound event, DA GREENEST GITS IN ALLA DA GALAXY IZ COMIN ROUN FER A GOOD KRUMPIN
yes please orks please
4v4v4 gorkamorka video game would go hard
I'd kill to fight me some orks
I don't want any goblins teleported inside me
Yeah it's probably either genestealer cultists or some halfassed pox hound event that you get an alright portrait frame from
Given the trailer looks pre-rendered, I'm assuming it's gonna be a bigger update
Here's hoping
re: the iron sights talk earlier, I took some replays of aiming to try and see after the fact what I'm actually doing. I guess the trick is its actually the very tippy top of the front sight, not the whole post itself.
I can't really make out the sniper but I think that's due to unavoidable video compression
The irons on the bolt pistol fucking suck, yeah
Doesn't help that after each shot your barrel goes straight up
In other games I think iron sights are fine, darktide though the times you need to shoot something like a sniper most is during a horde and there's dozens of enemies between you and the sniper.
I use bolt pistol mostly has it has the most generous hitbox
If you point a bolt pistol within like 20 pixels of a sniper it'll probably be a hit or at least stagger it and the next one will be
Stub revolver seems to be less forgiving with accuracy you do have to have it square within the ironsights to hit.
I also use bolter for snipers similarly if not doing havoc, i get kill shots on snipers I definitely shouldn't have it's very forgiving for what's considered a hit at long distances
The mastery skin has better sights
my problem with irons is the ones that DO ask you to cover up the target with the post, I don't remember which guns had them but I remember the frustration
I tested out the autogun and combat shotgun and found their iron sights to be fine and not significantly different from the iron sights on the recon lasgun.
something i find amazing is how brunt seems to have found or applied a holo sight to every lasgun he finds
but not to the recon or helbore guns
presumably cause he isn't finding em like that
some of it is just pure aesthetics
the helbores are krieger pref
and those weirdos wanna be as ww1 as possible
hellbores have irons in game files
they're just, not equipped
so you get a bare rail
there's not even the tiniest nub on the end
hm, maybe an issue with my graphics, because I've complained before that the sights in this game are all fuzzy and wrong
like beyond what I think the average player sees
but yes the helbore sights, while extant, are complete garbage
which mostly doesn't matter because most of the time you're at knifefight distance, even when shooting
Consider the battles kriegsman go into being usually trenches or deadly atmospheres not surprising they don't use holos or anything delicate, hard to break iron sights. Even if they would they probably wouldnt as like a self imposed punishment, why spend anything extra for the kriegsman when they're dead folks walking or something
Until a sniper on the long bridge before elevator pops up
Or final area of forge where a sniper on the other side is like 10 pixels hipfire
I do use a mod to add holosight to every gun, I dislike how much space iron sights take up.
Zealot does prove 50m can be a knife fight
Cause the gun needs to be raised higher than a holosight on rails
My one question mark on the sights in Darktide is most of them shoot at the tippy tip of the front post but the front post doesn't align at all with the dots on the rear posts
I am not good enough at arcs to do a 50m knives throw
theres an easy shortcut
snipers are generally not a problem for me because i just run weapons that bodyshot them
the more annoying is a fucking reaper or something at far distance that is just spraying the area
if you ping a guy the red skull appears over their head. the arc compensation at max range is aiming to put the dot right on the top of the red skull
you can try this in the psykarium
I'm surprised you'd have trouble hitting a reaper if you don't for sniper
Even their heads are large
if they're shooting at you suppression makes it hard to ADS
Suppression takes a few seconds to be a problem. If has been shooting at me for like 3 seconds I have other issues if I weren't a zealot sliding around
tbh reaper heads have like, jiggle physics
and you're usually not killing them in one
I have like a 10% weak spot hit accuracy rate over time so most the time I hope for the best really
I go for heads when using the revolver
or the precise shotgun
I'm not good at aiming in general unless it's a knife, doesn't seem to care about suppression
If I can body shot sniper that's enough
Even still I prefer holos sights to iron sights
hoenstly i find the most annoying thing at long ranges these days are traitor gunners; beaming with perfect accuracy at a bajillion shots per second
Those boys are WELL TRAINED
and if you're caught out by a crowd or some other circumstance and they can just open up? Poof
ive watched them just drill teammates in the head, every shot hitting perfectly
Dreg gunners too, with that update a while back they be lasering
ranged enemies seem to operate on dice roll logic some days
either I casually walk up to an entire platoon of stormtroopers
or there's this one guy who takes half my health with his AK when I show my ass for 3 frames
I do feel like that sometimes, I'm basically untouched by 2 gunner packs looking at me and not a care in the world sliding around.
Then I feel safe from ranged attacks after dealing with them and I get my toughness shredded by 3 gunners on a perch on the other side of the map
Chorus is sometimes too goated for keeping everyone safe, I get out of situationss I definitely wouldn't with most any other classes
chorus is definitely overpowered but I don't feel as bad for using it as with shout because I'm not doing anything else while channeling
so it's letting my team have their cool moments
which mod? just weapon customization? 👀
Yea for holo sights and a gun model scaling mod to shift the gun model down to line up sights with center
sometimes they just don't shoot
I think there is actually random wake up animations
more noticeable on single normal shooters when you have time to take in them trying to unjam/unsafety/whatever their gun
they have been adding increasing amounts of suppression immunity to havoc active modifiers also
I'm not particularly mad about havoc balance because it's the purely optional CBT mode
I don't think most players use chorus effectively either
but it's disappointing how it's going to be gold health and "just kill faster" for the foreseeable future
When does full suppression immunity happen?
ie spreading the suppression around, using the stagger on crushers and the like, looting while your hands are tied, getting into position to kill immediately on exiting it
cranial corruption and some of the new ones
they really need to change how the toughness penalty works
Huh i didnt realize it does cranial did that
because rn it's heavily dependent on A how many flat nodes you get and B how many flat buffs (gold toughness) you get for what % it works out to being
few things give me such a feeling of supremacy as pushing aggressively with chorus shortly after watching teammates use it
I notice the hit mass though, i usually take wrath otherwise most swings get caught
it kinda makes everything squisher so it's not as noticeable
crushers with infested head and gunners exploding each other when one is shot 💀
also the thrusting animation actually feels better when you're moving so I think that's an intentional design
how do we feel about abducting a dog into a corner to kill at the end of chorus for blades of faith refill
They'd have to do a big balanace rework cause mostly the biggest options to challenge players now is nerfing players
there's plenty of things they could do that would nerf the meta strats and buff everything else
mostly in terms of making some overperforming talent nodes in the main path instead of near other meta abilities, and making havoc modifiers apply to special abilities and be much lower
-85% ammo pickups but survivalist has 100% of normal = survivalist now mandatory if more than one person actually wants ammo
<@&1042950387478560878> we wanna kill people 🥺
Yeag
😌
like how they nerfed chorus for havoc by nerfing the number directly instead of making the havoc penalty apply
(not that it didn't need nerfed in general)
ok gonna get a drink but we'll be on in a sec
can I join but not in vc?
absolutely!
what's your steam friend code?
[Reply to:](#1159883850562932826 message) can I join but not in vc?
sent in dms!
the fuck is a maelstrom mission
Its auric with more modifiers
The center mission on auric mission menu is the maelstrom
So even harder Auric.
Regular maelstroms can be easier than aurics because aurics are guaranteed high intensity and regular maelstoms can just be like hunting grounds + vent purge + extra barrels
Auric maelstroms were peak fiesta before Havoc and now there's 2 different kinds of peak fiesta (Havoc 26-40 and Auric Maelstrom)
I think I'll pass. Thanks for explaining it, though.
maels can notable have player buffs also like more blitz charges, faster ability cooldowns
some of the modifiers can be significantly harder than the others (monstrous specialists, extra poxbursters, waves of specialists)
also! perfect time for my chart to discuss auric!
all auric missions (aside from auric maelstorm) can spawn on the normal mission board, and they're usually much harder than the auric variant because noone is expecting it and some party members may still be leveling up
I get mauled on Heresy pretty regularly, I don’t think I’m made for Auric.
That's totally valid, it takes a while to feel good on Heresy
I'm still trying to get a 500 melee weapon, but I did just master recon lasgun and assault chainsword at least.
heresy missions on the normal board can spawn missions with the same modifiers and general difficulty level as auric
auric has a heresy difficulty level and a damnation difficulty level, just like the main board
the only difference is that the hi intensity modifier is guaranteed instead of being randomly present
I had a mission where we basically had a conga line of mutants and one of them grabbed our Psyker and yeeted him directly into a daemonhost.
yeah that happens, and it could have been a hi intensity shock gauntlet (or just bad luck)
the game itself is really inconsistent about how it signposts and labels things which is why I feel the need to explain so in-depth
I just went to bed after that.
like havoc says it enables "auric intensity" at a certain point
but auric calls itself out as "hi intensity", not "auric intensity"
so it's referencing another mechanic which is referencing another mechanic
... havoc also has a million hidden modifiers on top but that's unrelated to auric
Oh hey that happened to me
We saw the daemonhost and like did a wide circle, I got trappered, got picked up, grabbed by mutant from behind and thrown a bit closer, and the moment I land I got grabbed by another mutant then thrown directly at the daemonhost and bumped directly into it
A teammaye saw it cause they immediately typed "no way" then I saw vc from them and the other 2 said "lol"
This was only damnation too I was just trying to warm up
This is achieved by reaching mastery 18 or 19, going to Hadron with about 30,000 gold doubloons and holding the button down until the number hits 500
as opposed to waiting for a Drop
you can also buy rank 500 gear from Melk, the sassy dude in red in the middle lane
also that mutant toss reminds me, I met a Genius Mutant once
smart mutants are top level threats
Or bombers that immediately throw on a down teammate
You just starting reviving? Surprise green
extra barrels?? easier??? /j
I completely forgot about the Empower function.
You can see what the max power stats will be before spending the money, that's what the right-hand number on each stat is
Why is Cadia a place you can be from
Like, is it even anywhere near the Atoman system
No but warp travel is a thing
And Cadians are very very numerous
And very vocal
True
If you pick Cadia almost all nonclass dialogue is about cadia
And the non cadian characters will mock them
Basically "reminds me of Cadia but Cadia was worse you wouldnt know"
Followed by "How'd that go for you and Cadia"
Why dont you cadia some bitches
I want an ogryn voiceline for the Rock that's like
"Look, sah! Ah found a chunk o Cay Dee Er!"
If nothing else than to watch a Cutthroat go APOPLECTIC
I dont ever recall Ogyrn cadia lines
Veteran has a ton considering one personality is locked behind Cadia
Cheeky vid before Grim protocol comes out...aha it's not out yet right?
Enjoy :D
For real though this is the longest video on Darktide I've done and due to a big ol' update coming out (It's out already), I couldnt bang out the editing I usually do. Hopefully it's still interesting to you folks~
cadia moment
I didnt realize how much chainweapons just shred shields
I dont see many evis or chainswords on havoc and my hubris says i can make it work
the eviscerator lights are hard-coded to only deal damage to a maximum of four things, even if they cleave many more
its tuned to an older vision of the game
Well mk3's first heavy doesnt have that 4 target limit for damage
Yeah it's just the lights with the target limit for damage
You do need to do either a push attack or a light to route back into another heavy 1
I used to use shroudfield rev heavy 1 to apply bleed from a guaranteed crit to as much of a horde as I can and then do the horde clear patterns into that
But even then half your sweeps will only kill a max of four guys
It's a detail I hope they revisit whenever they are ready to do a larger weapon revision.
In practice it's not too bad because of damage step downs on most weapons targets past the 4th were only taking 20-25% damage anyways and only if you had enough cleave; it's possible to build an Eviscerator to one shot 4 pox walkers in one swing through the step downs but it's easier to build 3.5 pox walker swings
It's more annoying than anything else tbh
ive found the eviscerator still works pretty great
in a general sense
my cadence is usually heavy-light-heavy-light for crowd clearing
Im mostly seeing options for havoc besides DS, knife, relic blade for variety. The big thing so far is the modifiers makes hitmass matter more, enemies staggered less, and DR could change some breakpoints
yeah, there's a big reason why hitmass penetration: yes weapons are so prominent
I don't think dr is adjusted outside of the active modifier for it (which goes down as hp goes up??), but hp increases a fair bit
oh and the other dr modifier (raging?) and the hp one probably impact things a lot 🤔
I found that bleed is unaffected by quite a bit of modifiers which makes me consider bleed knife
I read the funniest comment,
"Until Death is key for Zealot at higher level play so you can run ahead and die twice before quitting the game."
No one shits on zealots more than other zealots.
until death really is key for havoc though
so many situations where you just get a second chance to bail out in time
Yea thats the joke
high havoc is just too chock full of "turn the corner and get instantly obliterated" scenarios
Some people dont bring it on havoc under the pretense of git gud, like youre constantly surrounded by rager packs, maulers, and crushers every minute of havoc 40 youre in a death blender youre going to go down at least once
yep
and every time you go down that's a potential crisis that can cascade into the team wiping
so the more ways you have to duck that fate, the better
The meta on havoc 40 is like the same build on each class but I will say pub games hit different when everyone is a support build, people actually stick together cause that's how support builds work
I do more just aurics for variety and my beloved shroudfield but at times it like wrangling cats when teammates just stay in one place for no reason
one that people forget is that you can't go down while being chanted
rare thing to think about
Usually at that point in havoc people at that point realize chant is free time to act stupid to deal max damage or bring someone up
Usually, happens a lot less but i cant say i havent seen it happen
Does the bolt pistol have some weirdness going on that throttles its damage?
It and the bolter ostensibly have the same damage profile but the bolt pistol feels like it doesn't hit as hard
Which does make sense tbf
Bolter can get strength bonuses from things like Pinning Fire and Bolt Pistol can get Deadly Accurate so both can hit like a truck
Yeah bolt pistol is still mad potent, it just feels like it doesn't actually do the damage listed somehow
I'm not sure what it is
Both are at 80, I run Surgical on the Bolter, Run n Gun on the pistol, and the bleed blessing on both
is the surgical one just critting more?
Naw, cause the hipfire feels like it hits harder, and not just in the "You are firing like fifteen baseball sized bullets into them at once"
Like
The individual rounds feel like they're hitting harder
i mean we're working with feels like here. Are you testing in the psykanium?
is it actually doing less damage?
It doesn't seem like it?
Guess it's just Surgical + more rounds hitting due to full auto warping my perception
Yeah the bolt pistol and bolter do exactly the same projectile and cleave these days
Are you testing both with the same class and talents too? Different trees have different ranged bonuses
Tested em both on my Zealot, same skill tree for both
Odd i have no idea then, if should theorhetically do the same damage numbers in psykh, forget if seeing damage numbers in psych is a mod or vanilla
If you're hitting limbs without hitting torsos behind it you do less damage. That used to be a problem with limbs flailing and getting in the way of clean bolter shots but they changed it a year or so ago.
New hotfix today, they're listening:

Hey Everyone, Hotfix #67 (1.7.5) is currently rolling out across our platforms. In the meantime, you can read the notes below. wooo
now I can uninstall the mod I have for that that doesn't quite work lmao
also like this
Cant believe were being silenced
1984
If you talk about ratling you delevel /s
...oh joy, the hotfix broke every single one of my mods
And now the game refuses to launch
Yea that's every patch, the darktide modding discord usually has day 1 patches
<@&1042950387478560878> tideing?
The patch today was a big one like 7GB
And thinking about the patch note mentioning ratlings and the POV of the teaser trailer being short, is it really possible a 5th class could be a thing
Ratlings would be small and fast
Ratlings would be pretty fun
aside from long las what other exclusive weapons could a ratling have
tankstopper rifle
Twin plasma pistols
the current ratling kit comes with a tank stopper, which is effectively a ratling PTRS-41

I could also see a bolt action stub rifle
the marksman stubber from the vet for a crossover weapon, along with lasguns and las pistols and stub revolvers

alas, poor ogryn, ma boi doesnt get a lot of weapons since crossover weapons wouldnt make a lot of sense
I think shatfark have stated that bardin caused enough issues in Vermonter that they weren’t gonna do short characters in the future but rattling would be fun
Lol
Regular bolter as a pistol
Still holding out for an autocannon
The fact they haven’t added the smaller shield as a separate mark to the slab shield baffles me ngl
Really? Seems like they made it work in Vermintide 2
🙏
Imo, since we are in a hive city
A Merc or a dog handler seem plausible
They got him to work but it was apparently difficult
Necromunda: hired gun protag
Dog, grappling hook and double jumps all on one character certainly wouldn’t break darktide, nothing could go wrong
I do sometimes wish fatshark fans who frequent their forums and discord could have a healthier relationship with the company. But that's a wish I have in a lot of places
Last time I lurked, it was just constant abuse and complaining
Strong "can do no right" vibes
Attack pug
3 ratlings in a trench coat or ratling of unusual size
I would like a beast master tech adept class I think that would be cool
Very much true but sometimes you find gems in the dirt.
Like a not so serious comment that the new skull is a reveal of a new carapace pox hound
Jesus Christ. Carapace pox hound wave in the Mortis trials
Imagine if there was a modifier that added carapace to random enemies
hears & shoots poxburster hidden in horde
Wait why do I hear boss music bullet pinging off armor
It's always a tough run on knifey zealot, oops all scabs
Truuuueee
Armor isn't real, Uncanny Strike is there for you
I think so far out of everything the community speculates, my lowest expectation for what the teaser is about is like a pox hound event or maybe new pox hound enemy
A new event would explain a 7gb hot fix and specifically it breaking some mods by affecting one aspect of the allys' UI. Probably added in a fix needed for a new overlay over ally's section of the hud for something
The optimistic part of me says ratling riding cybermastiff
Also funny clip, the director had a vendetta against this one player
Really put 2 poxbursters, another trapper, and a sniper on the downed player just to make sure
The way the specials be spawning in sometimes is ridiculous
Ever double take a dog bark? Looking down empty hallway, turn away from it, hear dog bark directly behind you, suddenly dog in previously empty hallway. Perish
Mutant grabs you and throws you at a daemonhost
Mortis trials 12 trapper wave is something... special! 😃
power knife
is this good?
Yeah real good
anyone know what mods are still broken from the last hotfix?
poxburster with carapace would be a player buff tbh
no more accidentally exploding them in people's faces or bots doing it, pushing still causes them to explode harmlessly
I was about to ask if you can shove carapace but i remember you can stagger crushers with DS special attack
it's just an armor type
scab ragers and maulers have it, reapers have it, iirc bulwarks also have it
🤔 although it would be silly if push didn't have enough armor pen or something
but you can push crushers iirc
it just doesn't do much
DS staggers crushers quite a bit, not knocked over heavy stagger but like one level before that
Impact ratings have a power level affected by weak spots, crits, and armor type, and a push applies a certain amount of impact in a cone which is compared to melee stagger thresholds to see if they fall over or not
DS has a 1000x multiplier to impact on finesse (weak spot) special pokes (damage_templates.light_combatsword_p3_stab) and staggers like an uppercut so it only ever does light and medium stagger
1000x sounds like a lot but i dont know how the math behind impact works at all
that's not a push though, which is what would matter for carapace poxbursters
does give me the idea if you can knock them over with weapon special actions?
Yeah if you get a weak spot hit with the light it'll stop the charge on crit for reasons I haven't quite figured out
Is it only with a crit headshot? It feels more reliable than that, might just be I run it on a crit heavy weapon spec build tho
Yeah weapon spec is 33% additive crit per melee kill so if you swap often it's not hard for every shot to be a crit
Yea I run that plus crit on heat blessing

NO WAY
Summer of shotgun gaming I see
I AM THE LAAAAAW
YEEEEEEEEA FIFTH CLASS
I always believe, I believed every other update but this time it happened
GUH????????
OUGGY CLASS REAL
I'm here just to say that when I ask for a beast master class I get what I want
Happy to be half right
They have assault shields, basically riot shields
And pupppy
Ye ye
I can't wait to judge dredd all over the place
WE'RE SO BACK
The weapons seems to be in line with Arbites lore, which is close quarters and stun devices. If I had to guess it's like tank/cc
Can't wait to run 4 cyber puppies at once
Games will have 8 heretic slayers in one mission
Oops all dogs
Do you think they'll give us another operative slot?
I hope so. But if not I'll kill my psyker in a heartbeat
potentailly
Isn't the default 5 slots?
Unless you have a dupe of another class
If you have 2 psykers you have to pick favorites
Yeah a lot of folks have a dupe for playing with either another friend group or just for more loadout slots
I've got Zangief the Ogryn and Floofy the Ogryn
I thought it was 4
Nope the 5th slot has long been used as evidence of other classes being added in forum arguments
It's 5, I have zealot 2 for friends that dropped the game a while back, only I persisted
I have an extra ogryn named big billy bone breaker
Or actually: bigBillybonebreakr to stay in the character limit
I have a vet alt I was doing a permadeath challenge with
but I also have the extra loadout slots mod so I can probably kick that permadeath vet alt down a slot
How could I know there are 5 slots I've only played 400 hours of this game 🤷♂️
True permadeath via new class
And they were RIGHT
I was also right. Because beast master classes beat ass and are very rad
I'm gonna ride this high for a minute I think. Months, years, I've been saying it would whip ass if we got a uppy wrangler
I'm really curious tbh
I hope someone stuff leaks to other classes
Specifically the ogryn
I want shield and gun damnit
I'm mostly wondering 1. How the intro will go and how an Arbites will be explained to be a Reject, and 2. How they'll interact with the ex-Enforcer psyker
Sedition is an one easy
They killed a criminal that "should" have been captured because they had friends in high places
doggos coming up in game
Or they didn't capture/kill a criminal cause of sympathies
Look at me i have the pox hounds now
Or did justice on someone that did a crime but they were told should not be punished
(also more shotgun)
Or they're just there supervising operations
Or a classic someone accused them of heresy and they didn't do anything wrong but still went to reject jail
Literally judge dredd
But 40k
Every Arbites has a Rico Dredd they don't know about yet
If judge dredd also could deal with demons and xenos
I'm gonna name my guy Karl I think
Genestealers and cultists are around in many hive cities
FOR KARL
For Karl 😌
I can't wait for lobbies to look like 4 judge dredd cosplays
The voice lines are gonna go hard
I wonder what the lines will be like, cause the OG 4 were all made around the same time so they had like direct responds to each other
And I'm wondering if like they recorded new lines or mixed up existing lines then added in arbite's lines
The biggest thing I'll think about is what funny name I'll use
A good amount of them are pretty flexible. Any class chides the zealot for taking ammo "put it to good use then!"
The Italian Stallion
The Arbites Class is coming to Darktide on June 23!

Since no one else posted it yet
[Blessedly satisfying gun cocking sound]
I’m very very curious if they gave the class different personalities voice actors and what those could be one is clearly a hard line dread type lol
I hope its the best shotgun in the game
Darktide shottys are not to be slept on. They're kinda great
lips to microphone "I am the law"
Aside from the puppy, and also the hypothetical riot shield they might get, what do you think their abilities and skill will look like?
And how do you think they'll try to avoid borrowing from the vet tree
Because I immediately thought this class could act as a short of shot caller
But vet already has that ability
Shout would have been apt for an arbites
I haven't written it off yet
Im curious how dog would be used
They'll absolutely get a shout yeah
Maybe it's their Blitz?
Or other critters
Thats what I'm hoping for but have some doubts about
Servo skull swarm, puppy, some other third horrible thing
Laser falcon that highlights targets
If they outfit the arbiters with gas nades having a highlight ability would be sick
It also fits with the riot control aesthetic
Executioner's stance 2
