the wound breakpoint damage reduction talent in the top left feels nice for e.g. snipers, but it feels like gunners eat it up more frequently
bleed for the emperor?
i dont take that but its because i run no wound curios or talents lol
something like this
you could probably stand to lose the second cooldown reduction on the right and the until death branch and put two of those points into getting Enduring Faith and you wouldn't die anyways to proc the lifesave talent.
50% toughness damage reduction is so much survival
the cdr node at the bottom can be used for some nutty stuff
ive spent my second charge and refunded both instantly
i basically use the charge as a form of toughness regen half the time so its already overlapping
also benediction is my fave in that node line anyway
the original point i was trying to make is that the strengths of grenades are balanced by the strength of the talents leading up to them.
your build is your build, i was talking about the tree structure itself
top right has a really niche and tricky to use grenade but it has some of the most impactful talents on the whole tree
compared to stun grenades solving any crisis but having weaker talents leading up to accessing them
its a good skill tree but everything is in context
i think the grenades more than make it for it
stuns are hella cracked
i'll take a small reduction in personal effectiveness in exchange for the potential to save someone from death or even save a run
it is all equivalent exchange
my personal opinion is it doesn't really work out that way
you feel that the branches aren't balanced?
essentially yes - the knives are funny but their ability to turn a situation around compared to the other two nades, especially stuns, is so drastically less, you don't particularly gain anything from them you don't get from a well specced firearm
you can get the lion's share of good right tree talents while still getting stuns anyway
The knives are a completely different utility, you can burn a lot of talents also digging through to get the stuns but if you are deep enough to take the 50% tdr talent it might be a budgetary restraint to route through knives or fire to afford an overall stronger build that prevents or saves team wipes in other, frequent ways
I think they are very well balanced for what they offer.
I mean I think the talents getting to stuns are plenty good enough on their own, and the talents directly under stuns leading to Benediction are significantly better than the ones in the right hand tree
(Compared to the ones leading to Loner)
I think that's a fine build route but I also feel like the three nodes leading up to stuns are noticeably weaker as a price for buying into that utility, and I also feel like the Until Death branch of the Benediction is similarly expensive in terms of what you're giving up to buy its value. I'm not really sure where you disagree that these branches don't have equivalent cost/benefit balances
its not really fair pulling out Loner as the stand-out comparison when crit chant fury is maybe one of the strongest F key presses in the game
I mean I didn't, I mentioned the talents leading up to Loner
thy wrath be swift is very strong value on the right branch compared to putting two points into "occasionally don't die" as well, to give that branch credit
I'm gonna bow out of this since our opinions clearly aren't gonna shift
✌️
<@&1042950387478560878> i wanna do some private game achievements or something
Oh nice we queued with y'all on the maelstrom
2000 kills exactly, that Maelstrom felt like it had more
Oh, did you? Who were you?
the famed Psyker Bertolli, running my Enhanced Psionics Brain Burst / Shriek / Flame Staff build - Letter was running the classic Eviscerator / Mk1 Autogun combo
Oh yeah!
Thanks again for showing me the way to that skull, really appreciate it
Those shields were clutch as hell too
i missed a maelstrom?
Normal maelstrom, was a spontaneous queue
I'm down to give it a whack
jbk kg
joim
i can in a bit
Heck yeah now you have the drip
hell yeah, congrats
It kinda sucked but it was manageable with a lower enemy spawns modifier
Glad I don't have to do that again
Which mission did you do it on?
Can't recall the name, but it's the one where you gotta run through a surprisingly normalish looking city and call in extraction at the end
Only took 14 minutes
oh nice, that's a fun one
And quick too, the only roadblock was lowering that bridge
And a Beast of Nurgle
...god
I feel bad for Beasts of Nurgle
Puppies in the bodies of gigantic disease-spewing monstrosities
Y'all got any advice for getting good curios?
If you get a good version of one you want with one of the perks you want, its easy enough to swap the other two so its not too hard to get it just right
there is a browser extension that turns the fatshark account page into a display of what's currently in your character's store, so you can peek now and then and just turn the game on to grab something you like
@cyan depot do y'all have 4 already?
all good!
Making a meme build, what melee should I use
I'm thinking the knife to try and emulate the Prinny Machete
I know I'm gunning (heh) for that twin barrel, closest thing to a minigun that ogryns can get
Smelter 36
Auric Maelstrom with 3600 kills over 46 minutes
@drowsy vine I'm going to hop off if you want in still
Zamn, I'm looking fresh as fuck
Just need a good chainsword skin now
...those pants were surprisingly easy to get, just let a giant horde down me and started swingin, and bam, cool new pants
@cyan depot good news, seem to have fixed my crashes - darkcache sadly doesn't work anymore and crashes on load in to the mourningstar
Hek ye
That's tough, Darkcache was a solid play
Must have to do with how they changed the shader cacheing
My new go kinda fast build is a Momentum Zealot with a 80% mobility Devil's Claw with a cleave and impact blessing; it doesn't hit as hard as a heavy sword so you need a carapace busting gun like slug shotgun and it's not as zoomies as a knife and it does about 80% of both and has a sick parry
Parrying demon host gaming
The creator apparently quit and abandoned the mod, so looks like it's out to dry for now
I might get the leg braced pants for Psyker and maybe the leather jacket for Zealot.
Some of the weapon skins look nice too 😄
Finally got the drip I've been wanting for ages
Worth the money
Now I just gotta find some pants that go well with it
Ohhh big spender
Got some enormous moneybags
...or did, anyway
I am now destitute in the name of drip
Starting up a melee Psyker build, any recommendations for weapons and skills?
Dueling sword or force sword are probably the go to options
Been using the force swords, I like em so far
Any of the abilities are good but scryers gaze most directly improves melee attacks
Dart is probably the best blitz cause you can chuck a few out and get back to chopping faster
Right, but it does leave me with nothing against bosses
Tried using it against a Beast, it did precisely Fuck and All
That's normal with psyker
Your job is usually to clear adds while the rest of the teamn hurts the monster
...though I AM at the level of "literally everything you own is the most bottom of the barrel shit tier kit possible", so that'd probably explain it
What force sword do y'all recommend?
I'm thinking Blaze since it has Vanguard heavies
For a melee centric psyker Ilsi imo
Not getting locked into the force sword stick ever means less accidental deaths
Blaze hits really hard
But you can't safely use the empowered attack much
Deimos Mk4 has a turbo deadly single target loop with light into heavy which can flatten crushers and maulers on their butts if you land the thrust heavy on the weak spot and goes good with Shred or Uncanny Strike
Obscurus has a great crowd control thing going on with sweeping vertical lights with good cleave and goes good with Slaughterer
You've identified that the Illisi is super good at crowds and if you get Bloodthirsty (only spawns level 4, 100% crit after special attack kill) then you win (great comboed with Exorcist)
I run a Shred/Blazing Spirit Deimos with a Blazing Spirit/Warp Nexus Trauma Staff and it works pretty decent as a Purgatus alternative
Not sure why it hasn't been brought up yet, Chainsword is an incredibly good all rounder option and by far your best bet against bosses
It's the riskiest out of the ones people have listed but also, imo, the most rewarding if you can exploit boss openings
Oh yeah I love chainsword
I usually play Zealot, I know how much the chainswords kick ass
However, I DO like using the class-exclusive weapons
And the force sword has a certain flair that the chainsword just doesn't
if I understand right the force swords have a ranged force push on block attack that makes pushing bursters easy
Do they?
Yeah they have a good push
I did notice that they had a cool looking shield
Didn't know it did anything special
Laspistol for psyker has a better one because ???
Oh, apparently they can get a perk that lets you block bullets too
That seems
Really fucking good
That seems important, Psykers always feel squishy
Its also my understanding that Zealots have a unique slide property that evades bullets in some way that other classes don't (??)
That one perk that gives Toughness on venting helps, but even then they have a tiny base Toughness pool
I think they do, I've noticed bullets whiz past me when I slide but only sometimes
There’s a perk which helps but they also have less damage while sprinting iirc
I run it on all my force swords I love it
I'm defo gunning for that
Gunners always give me trouble but that would just give them the world's biggest middle finger
God it'd be cool if that was an all-melee perk
Just pull a Ronin and swordblock everything
YES I GOT DEFLECTOR
AHAHAHAHAHAHA FIRST FUCKING TRY
IT'S ONLY LEVEL 1 BUT I'LL TAKE IT
Oh this one's being dismantled for this blessing
<@&1042950387478560878> anyone down to play in about an hour?
Now that the weapon customisation mod fixed scopes I feel like taking them for a spin
I'm down to get that plasteel then for a bit
Anyone else?
Admittedly if we can't get 3+ I'm inclined to start ISAT instead haha - no shade to you Clem, just prefer more people
No worries, I was revisiting old conversation battles from Deus Ex Human Revolution, I'll be all right
Think I'm getting the hang of this melee psyker nonsense
Unsure if my build is the best for it, but I'm at least not immediately dying in Malice
I tried putting a laspistol on my crit zealot build in the meat grinder last night and I think there might be some juice here
I have a 379 accatran but now I want to find a good kantrael laspistol to see which one actually feels better. I suspect all the crits and a dumdum blessing might favor the speed and capacity of the accatran but its harf to go wrong with bigger damage
Infernus ticks benefit from and tick up Dumdum stacks so laspistol keeps winning
I rolled a lv4 toughness heal on crit kill blessing, I got some farming to do but that might make a good holdover until I can get Infernus
I liked the burn on Kantrael shotgun shells
Heal on crit/speedloader is my practical combo because dumdum/infernus is the greedy combo
two of the pinch points I am finding on the shotgun are a: being a bit inefficient at range and b: competing a little bit with the eviscerator, which turns crowds into chants
Yeah I run double DOT shotgun with a heavy sword or knife or thunder hammer
Heavy sword keeps winning in mutant wave maelstroms knockin' em down
dumdum laspistol can gutshot maulers really cleanly
its fun to make a hallway full of fodder disappear with the double dotgun but that doesn't feed the chants so we're trying something else
Holy smokes, it's Saltzpyre
...side note, I'm like 90% sure Maulers are just Chaos Knights but with a different suit of armor, so why the fuck do they feel harder than before?
their secret is their head is carapace but their body is flak!
saw them in half like a tree, not like a loaf of bread
Yeah, Maulers aren't Chaos Knights they're, well, Maulers.
The dudes with unarmored torsos and armored heads.
Crushers are Chaos Knights
The vermintide version makes the armor situation more obvious imo
Also that man has been blessed with levitation by the chaos gods
crushers and maulers both give me anxiety
What do you play?
Zealot! I can dodge their overheads but I always think about "what if I don't?"
I even have enough impact to stagger interrupt the wind ups, sometimes
crusher hitboxes with oceania ping makes me the big sad
but power sword makes the matchup so monstrously one-sided that it's sort of like a pleasant wakeup call nowadays
<@&1042950387478560878> hello, darktide
tide tide
i will be there a bit l8r currently doing arkham horror
Yibbe
we can be on in like 10 but were very high
[Reply to:](#1159883850562932826 message) <@&1042950387478560878> hello, darktide
same lol
weed
Is that the Ripper box mag on the Agripinaa shotty
Joe Dirt would be a Psyker, that explains a lot in that movie
ironically if you have the right setup they die faster with head shots than body shots
but if you don't, and you probably don't, just center mass them
my laspistol arc might have ended abruptly
chkchak
I'm always torn between Scattershot and Man-Cleaver for the shotguns
but I think Kantrael overpen is already pretty strong as-is
the low stability kinda makes it feel more meaty without losing any meaningful accuracy
the scattershot icon stays in your status bar so you can see if its primed for a guaranteed ~18 free Fury stacks
kerchunk
Think I'm getting the hang of this melee psyker nonsense
Kinda
Did surprisingly well last mission on heresy, until I got melted by like three shotgunners that ambushed me
Gonna respec a bit and run that one skill that grants Toughness DR based on Peril
<@&1042950387478560878> drawing my darktides and maybe playing later
Yeah I can tide up in about 30 minutes, krak nades won't throw themselves
"Its gotta be Dark, its gotta be Tide!" (TM)
<@&1042950387478560878> hello
hello this is darktide how can i help you
Can I get uuuuuuuuuuh two number nines, a number nine large, a number 6 with extra dip, a number 7, two number 45's, one with cheese, and a large soda
Thanks dude
...god
It's fucking incredible how ONE talent can make a build viable and fun
One With The Warp has just immediately made my melee psyker build extremely fucking good
It's no Unchained, but damn is it ever tanky as shit for a psyker
Who knew 33% toughness damage reduction for doing the thing Psykers love doing rules
For real lmao
Had to sacrifice that free 5% crit chance bost, but tbh the boost to damage against Elites seems more useful
How does One With The Warp stack?
I know Warp Rider is 2% per 20 peril
All the individual sources of toughness damage reduction are multiplicative so as to avoid the dreaded 100% reduction breakpoint
Should be 10% at 0 Peril and 33% at 100% peril and so that'd be about 5.5% damage reduction per 20 peril yeah
Oh shit, so it's just a free 10% DR even without any peril at all?
That's pretty slick
Yeah it's a great node
That for 33%, Scrier's Gaze for 20%, and a spare 5% node on the tree will get you to effective 49% toughness damage reduction pretty good; anything further is a pretty big sacrifice on nodes
Eh, I'd use Scrier's Gaze, but it just feels
Kinda boring
I'd rather pop a bubble shield, I do have Deflector 3 now but my teammates might not and being able to take cover from gunners and snipers and the like on a whim is nice
nobody will ever complain about bubble on high haz
bubble + taser surge
bubble + taser is just the most supporty support psyker build
I do use that one stave that shoots lightning, so
Full move speed Psyonic The Hedgehog knife psyker is worth trying at least once
Close enough I guess?
that one's bad for CC nowadays but it's high HVT damage
giving crushers and bulwarks the bad tickles
they moved its original crowd stagger functionality over to the surge slot instead so it's now a single target monster instead
Man with the Scavenger nerf the Heavy Autogun feels better than ever on Vet
Having a deep ammo pool matters a lot more now
Such a swiss army knife of a gun
the scavenger nerf is so brutal on high haz
Real
I do like how it's made some weapons more viable by making More Ammo More Better but at this point some stuff needs a balance pass
Ol' Bolty is probably in the dumpster now
the bolter feels sooooo aaaaaaasssssss
you get to dump a couple guys early on and you're all smiles
and then you realise you're only a quarter through the mission and you're already out
Yeaaaaaah
does the plasma really need even more stuff going for it over the bolter
no
55 astartes 55 custodes 55 sisters of battle 155 Valhallan imperial guardsman 55 commissars 155 skitarii
I agree some change to the ammo regen was probably necessary but that's partly also because the other passives kinda booty
"This is an automated message. You are being redirected to: DEPARTMENTO MUNITORUM. Thank you for your patience. Ave Imperator!"
They're! Not good!
One of these days I'll try a 4 Veteran squad where everyone has the move speed aura and knives and see how we can speed run running in circles while static defense objective bars build up
At this point there might? Be something if you run the +5% Damage aura plus Focus Target, Focused Fire and Redirect Fire
I have been playing so much psyker I didn’t notice the nerf haha
Because at that point +17% damage to your team is very much Getting Somewhere
and that stacks with Focus Target on big enemies
Yeah I run that combo on my mid tree vet with Helbore/Vraks Mk7 headhunter action and it's a great team buffer
I guess Helbore might have some kind of function since they're generally more ammo efficient + Shock Trooper is good enough on its own
Have you tried left side tree crit Bolter?
Oh Helbores are wild good I think
I know @mortal crystal runs the Mk1 Helbore and they go sicko mode with it
I built bolter for max ergo
The Mk1 is a grand old time, yeah. Sadly, the vast majority of my time on it was with the old skill system so I don't have much advice for the current version
New Mk1 still rules because it can one shot Reapers on crit without stance
Big thing is getting Onslaught and finding a good rhythm.
I've had a lot of trouble trying to use it without Stance just because it's so hard to acquire targets with how bad the scope is
Interesting...especially now that crits are far easier to guerantee.
The sights are a major learning curve, this is true
Nothing to say there other than just use it long enough
...ugh
Why has every Heresy game I've tried playing my melee Psyker in just immediately gone tits up
It's not even a skill issue on my part, it's always "Oh, hey, here's a fuckshit load of Specials and a boss, also your teammates have all gone down, good luck"
Don't play Heresy
Seriously
Play Damnation
The quality of your team goes WAY up
Heresy is easily the hardest difficulty IME
Damnation you have a hope of being carried
It's weird because I've NEVER had this issue with my Zealot
Heresy you have a minor hope of not being dragged down
But now all of a sudden shit just immediately goes tits up the first chance it gets
At this point I'm not even mad
Just
Baffled
Like, what god did I piss off to earn such a streak of horrid luck???
Good grief
To be fair, Zealot's clutch potential is also a lot easier to achieve than Psyker's
And honestly it does have more
Zealot is afforded a lot of leeway with stuff like sprint DR as opposed to Psyker's sprint damage vuln
A lot Psyker's clutch potential needs teammates to see it happening and then exploit it/facilitate it.
psyker stops things from getting that bad but zealot can salvage more reliably with stuns
Just tested it, looks like the secret sauce is a 25% Unyielding perk and the super mark because with one and not the other it'll be 2500 on weak spot, 3500 on weak spot crit, and with both it's a 4000 damage boop
Zealot is the best clutcher and psyker is the worst
ogryn also up there, situation-dependent*
*gunners
Not the clutching thing, the "why are my teammates going down so fast" one
Gunners? Out-dakka them, silly!
I do think this build needs some refining
Namely better weapons and curios, as well as Disrupt Destiny and one last +15 Toughness boost
Yeah that’s the only reason I rate zelly higher haha
...really does feel like Fatshark lost their sense of balance design after Vermintide
Like, look how many fucking Crushers swarmed me
That's a "one or two per wave" enemy
Not fucking seven at once hyperfocusing one player
Chrissakes
Nah, there 100% weren't that many chaos knights normally
If you're getting this frustrated with the game I recommend you take a step back
Yeah, probably a good idea
Patrols were also much more common place
Darktide also goes harder because you get real guns
You could always hear them coming though
Yeah, true
I'm just
Frustrated
For reasons I'm sure are somewhat obvious
Dealing with 8 crushers or 12 maulers is just a thing the director throws out sometimes
Apparently
yeah at higher haz you just have to handle it
I should take a break before I rile myself up again
Yeah, no krak grenades in VT2 :p
Near the beginning of Darktide crushers were rarer but also it was pretty easy
Kinda wish we got, like, proper Big Huge Guns in Darktide
I know there's a bolter but I mean, like
Anti-materiel guns, RPGs, stuff like that
...though that would kinda screw up balance since ammo's more plentiful than it was in Vermintide
Still
At least I still get money and XP from failed missions I guess
Crushers are much easier to kill than chaos knights
On higher diffs you pretty much want to have an option for cracking armor on deck
What does each tier of Deflector block, in terms of bullets?
Or do they all block bullets equally?
doesn't it get more efficient?
It does, but I did notice tier 2 seemed more effective at blocking gunner/shotgunner shots than tier 1
Though that might be my imagination
It just makes the cost lower
Guess it was my imagination then
Related, does Kinetic Deflection benefit from block efficiency?
Afaik yes
Oh, good, I was worried I was wasting a perfectly good weapon perk
It also benefits from that “take peril not stamina loss” talent
Kinetic Deflection IS the "take peril not stamina loss" talent you goober lmao
Oh whoops I thought you meant deflector haha
But yeah all that talent does is convert the stamina loss to peril in some ratio
That's on me, I should've been more clear
There’s a lot of similar names in Darktide to which doesn’t help
God, yeah
The blessing without the talent is pretty sad imo
Yeah, I noticed that gunshots were draining stamina
A Lot
Now it's actually useful
It’s good in a pinch but yeah it doesn’t last long
With Kinetic Deflection, the Deflector weapon blessing is
Kinda stupid
I can just give gunners the middle finger as I zigzag towards them
This fucking idiot lmao

<@&1042950387478560878> hello, tidetide
Who up Tidin on they Darks
indeed! i would like to play
Do I need to send you my Steam or nah?
yeah, though I usually only go with 3+ so let's see if anyone else wants to play
Mutants have a 3x melee damage multiplier
Oh, that would explain it
Yeah it's to encourage you to go for the ol death or glory attack
Rather than shooting at them
Makes sense
it's also just heinously inefficient to dump ammo into them generally
there are vet builds that can do it pretty efficiently
a well specced heavy autogun + focus target drops them in about 12-13 rounds sans headshots
not nearly as fun as a polite sidestep into chainaxe
Those are fun
Though I use an eviscerator, not a chainaxe
Or a force sword if I'm playing psyker
or a polite sidestep into knife overhead!
[Reply to:](#1159883850562932826 message) not nearly as fun as a polite sidestep into chainaxe
pulling off weakspot crits on charging mutants is a small joy in our life 😌
Psyker at max level
Now I can finally work on getting not-crappy weapons and curios
...well, my current ones are good, I mean like
Higher level stuff
I love the new Evis for mutant killing
You literally just fucking
Kurasawa single cut them
Further Helbore testing has revealed the following:
- Helbore Mk1 and Mk2 bayonets do like 20% more damage if you hold up the stab instead of spamming it
- Bizarrely enough the 10% rending node on Vet boosts Unyielding damage and Maniac damage contrary to expectations (thought it'd only work vs Flak/Carapace)
- Helbore Mk3 is about 50% more Helbore per shot than Mk1/2 and has a 20% weaker bayonet with better cleave by about double
- The Helbore does such a ridiculous crit weak spot multiplier that crit damage actually has a tangible effect (crit damage and weak spot damage only boost the bonus damage amount to crit/weak spot, not the base damage)
- Not only do Helbore charged shots have the same cleave as a Bolter shot they do about double the damage (3 cleave, which is 3 groaners or 2 poxwalkers/scab/dreg mooks)
My man is out here with the NCR drip
Ough
Melee psyker is stupid fucking fun
Forget Zealot, I think I've found my new main
It's so much more multifaceted and involved
Big horde? Either charge up my force sword or hurl a few shards. Big boss? Hit em with the lightning staff. Mauler? Crank that mf Peril up to 100 and beat his shins.
It's just got so much more to play around with than Zealot
And it's SO fucking good
I get stupid high toughness DR from that one talent and up to 20% extra damage from Warp Rider, so the biggest threat is either a Crusher or me being an idiot and overloading on accident
Im incredibly sad I missed the scion helmet. Hopefully it comes around again soon
Wowie
Every time I think "maybe I'll go for the "don't get downed for a bunch of missions" cheevos" I get launched into oblivion by the Hab Dreyko barrels
Who on Earth just keeps leaving these things laying around haphazardly
What's even IN those barrels anyway???
Based on their launch power, concentrated nerd fury
Promethium probably
Follow up question, who the hell is just leaving barrels of Promethium laying around???
Like, surely you wanna get that stuff to a fuel depot ASAP
I don't think most of the heretics are forklift certified to properly transport barrels
Ah, true
For even in the grim darkness of the 41st Millennium, forklift certification remains of the utmost importance
might be cooking gas
It could be a lot of stuff
In the grim darkness of the 42nd millennium, hazardrous material safety is nonexistent
i have an idea
i really want that cheevo as well
but
easiest way to get it is probably playing safe
some malestroms are easier than others
meelee only are scary as shit tho .w.
Oh, speaking of cheevos, anyone care to squad up and help me with the "bring a monster down to half health with your brain blast on Heresy or above" penance?
I wonder if that works on maelstroms with weakened monstrosities
I'd imagine it would
...man
I miss when monstrosities dropped loot die back in Vermintide
Made them feel more rewarding to beat
I found the loot die system in Vermintide inscrutable.
Though both did a better job of encouraging you to pick up grimoires
I kinda liked the loot system in vermintide
But then I have like 800hrs on the game so that may just be me having gotten used to it
That's another thing, grimoires in Darktide just don't feel very much worth picking up most of the time
It's a really hefty Corruption buildup for what is most of the time a relative handful of dockets
Free XP and dockets for the grimperor
Every docket is precious
And like I said, the dockets are usually not worth the Corruption
Ogryn gaming hours where they casually still have 340 HP after the double grim
There's actually a tech you can do where you grab a grim and cleanse it immediately to get wounded folks cleansed a bit
I need to level Ogryn more
I've got a memey Heavy TF2 idea planned out
Even made an ogryn that kinda uncannily looks a LOT like Heavy
Like, I made it as a funny "haha guys it's Heavy Tee Eff Too, he's eating sandvich haha" but like
He legit looks like Heavy but high poly
...okay zooming in the resemblance isn't as strong
But like, that still really strongly resembles him
My record so far is 6700 stubber rounds fired in a match and with the lucky bullet buffs I think I can do even better
Nope, you continue to level up the number is just hidden, over time your shop and rewards become better tho
I didn't know the latter part. That's a weird choice I feel like?
it is an odd choice, but explains why someone I know in a different discord has an obscene amount of zealot levels and gets constant godroll rewards
Can you imagine the Mechanics hoops to jump through just to get certified?
Is the Aquila shop cycling this week?
Quad stacked magazines for quad loud audio
...ugh
Rolled a force sword with better stats, including better Warp Resistance
Now it's kinda annoying generating Peril for this build
@gentle flame I summon thee, explain stuff
You might want poor WR for that setup if you want to ramp up peril quickly
<@&1042950387478560878> i want to kill people
Lol when this pops up as you're just casually scrolling
we'll be on in like 10
same!

20 minutes is good
@drowsy tusk join
I made it a personal quest to buy out all the level 1 and 2 blessings from the armory since I have just nearly every 3 and 4 and I have quickly concluded I need to run the +10% ordo dockets on every curio
Oh dear
In a bit maybe
Uuuuuuuuuuuugh
Fun fact, you don’t have to do that when it asks and you can still play the game
This is more amusing to me than it ought to be lmao
Three giant fuckin ogryns and one normal sized person
Oh, so it's like that thing Warframe does where it's like "You wanna improve your performance and trim some shit down?"
and here we see the Field Trip comp. one normal size teacher and a buncha large kids
My psyker is NOT responsible enough to be a teacher lmao
...ugh
Wish Daemonhosts were louder
Tripped over one because I couldn't hear it over the ruckus of a wave
Oh well, shit happens
<@&1042950387478560878> care to join me?
in like a half hour
Who up tidin on they darks
165047127
all good
we'll be on in like,,,, 10? ish
i'm going to get really high too we don't wanna be conscious
The scion helm + armageddon coat?
Aye, the NCR Ranger looking fit
...god I wish I'd started playing when Hallowette had better stuff for sale
At the moment it's all just
Bleh
"Cosplaying as zealot", "Cosplaying as veteran", and "Mad Max wastelander", which tbf is a pretty kickass look
I’m very sad I was taking a break from darktide when the scion and armageddon sets rotated through
It’s such drip
Not Armageddon coat, that is the savlar coat I believe, the Armageddon jacket is shorter and a more yellow color
@marsh gyro hop back on vc?
Just Imperium Things: Even the explosive barrels have skulls on them
At this rate I'm starting to wonder if ol Khorne has more of a foothold in the Imperium than people think
god fucking dang it
even slaneesh for that matter, there's a functional human brain in there
"functional"
Blood for the emperor! Skulls for the golden throne!
Trying out the chainaxes today
The Mk. IV is fun, but I don't really enjoy the Mk. XII as much
Mk. IV really encourages that old Vermintide heavy attack-centric playstyle, which I quite enjoy
Thrust blessing works real good on the Mk4 normal heavies and gets weird on the revved special heavies and sometimes only does 2 stacks and not 3
Trying to use shotguns more, can y'all give me any advice?
Idk why but they always feel just
Weirdly unsatisfying
As a Zealot I'm a big fan of the Kantrael, it is great for blowing through crowds to hit specials and it has enough impact that it can stop them doing their thing
The special shells really help sell each into a niche
Kantrael has an incendiary shell that does good crowd control vs hordes. Lawbringer has a horizontal shot spread shell and the Agripiina loads a slug, iirc
I think the key thing is their ability to control mixed crowds
Their chokes are dynamic and the spread really tightens when ADS
Special rounds cover most crowds and ADS primary covers scab/dreg mooks
That's because the revolver rules
On paper, they have a good leg up of 100 damage over the Stub, but in practice, it feels kinda like I'm just plinking at enemies
Shotguns also rule but it's a more personalized fiefdom
...actually, it could be I'm viewing and using them incorrectly
Viewing them as Big Boy Busters in the same vein as the revolvers
You can load/fire a shotgun in a panic easier than a revolver
Revolvers have perfect accuracy, no falloff, better armour pen values and intense headshot multipliers
So base damage is a thing, then armor penetration is a thing, then finesse scaling on weak spot and crit is a thing, and revolvers have higher finesse and penetration values in exchange for way less ammo
revolvers are baby bolters
You're comparing a sniper rifle to...well, a shotgun, basically
they're high-value AT annihilators
the revolver always has the brass dump part of reload where shotguns can load and fire, and each time they load one shell and send it it counts for reapplying "when ranged is empty" talents
Shotguns have the dual fire modes for versatility
the shotguns are generally intended for working unarmored targets
that too with the duckshot rounds
Important question: are you using shotguns/revolvers on Zealot or Veteran
Zealot
Haven't unlocked them on Veteran
...or literally anything good besides Stub and the Katachan sword
God I hate low level in this game, it feels so awful
Slam firing reloads from empty keeps giving you Emperor's Bullet
Regardless
Veteran uses them extremely differently as a mid range DMR or as a melee supplement while Zealot is all about that close range 25% ranged damage node
If you want a nice magic formula, get a Kantrael and put Flechette on there
Zealot charge can bust armor good in a pinch
i'll show you what Zealot Kantrael shotgun can do
Guessing they're meant to be practically melee range?
no no no
you can work midrange with them
Here is what incendiary shells with bleed blessings and a crit build can do to a crowd
Zealot's only ranged damage buffs are the 25% close range damage node at middle top and momentum stacks from bottom right which is why they're closer (15m and under) on Zealot
Video won't play for me
All of the pellets individually critting count towards activating Fury
Veteran can stack left side finesse damage and long range damage to make very potent midrange groups
Indirect Zealot ranged buff is crit build because crits rule
When its not using the incendiary shell this shotgun can punch through hordes to stop Trappers from netting teammates and it can knock Ragers on their ass
It's good special management through a horde
Right, right
Oh yeah its called Deck Hand Shotgun, I copped it a while ago thinking, one day I might be a shotgun liker, and I'm gonna wish I had this skin
and lo and behold, foresight
Man
I wish I had been playing this game sooner
Now I gotta wait around for the good cosmetics to show up again
I'll give Kantrael another shot, you've sold me on it
It's my favorite of the three
But that's sort of like, the Use Case for its specialty shell
standard shells punch very hard and don't get stopped on fodder enemies
Kantrael's primary fire is real nice because it can one shot gunners on a good weak spot hit and two shot ragers
so you can do crowd management from anywhere
I have felt like the blurn damage sort of competes with my eviscerator, which turns a crowd into Chants rather than sawdust, but it's a really reliable gun
Great against big guys too
like beasts and plague ogryn
The blurn principle also works great as gunlugger Ogryn
Also in that video, pay attention to this icon
one shot preps a ~50% crit rate increase thanks to blessings, and then the second shot with the crit boost makes this number Go Up Very Quickly
Do y'all know how dodging works exactly
Getting real fucking tired of trying to dodge only to budge an inch for Reasons
Each weapon has a separate dodge distance modifier and also a dodge count. The dodge count is how many dodges you can use before their effectiveness decreases immensely.
Dodge distance is generally better with lighter weapons and always better with melee over ranged
Weapons have dodge limits you can view when inspecting the weapon and usually you need at least 50% mobility to hit full dodge allowance
once dodge count is used up it doesn't restore til a few seconds have passed
Mobility and Defence stats both affect dodge counts iirc
Some ranged weapons (revolver, laspistol) have decent dodges too
Help I've been playing shield Ogryn so long I no longer know how to use any other weapon
I feel like I just get shot to pieces and can't stagger anything
you only need one second
[Reply to:](#1159883850562932826 message) once dodge count is used up it doesn't restore til a few seconds have passed
Notably that's double what it takes in Vermintide
Oops, All Psykers
Went pretty decently too surprisingly
...until we got poxbursters spammed at us
God I hate poxbursters
Have you tried the bully clubs combined with a ripper gun
Can opener ripper and the club that looks partially made of steel cable, charge, boxes and fnp for skills is my go to currently for big O
seconding can opener ripper and mk3 club, that setup rules
absolutely melts monsters
Hate to ask, but later on could someone help me out with running some higher level missions so I can level my Veteran faster?
we'll be on in a few hours, sure
Yeah a couple of maelstroms should help the XP printer machine
Thanks, appreciate it
I have been using Kantreal
I am slowly falling in love with it
Especially because I'm actually using it like a shotgun and not like a revolver
I just wish it didn't sound so
Flimsy
Like it's made of plastic
Side note, how do I mod the game? Wanna use Extended Weapon Customization.
Make myself the perfect Big Iron
The instructions are pinned because they're helpful!
#1159883850562932826 message
Thanks Clem
we're around now if you two are @regal pendant @marsh gyro
Having some internet issues, will hop on shortly

@marsh gyro sorryh, our,,, like, everything crashed all at the same time
It's okay I think my Darktide doesn't want me to play
😔
I'll try the ol' turn the router off and on again trick
we'll still be around to play, but some other friends asked us to vc, so we might not be around for voice
just ping us whenever
help
Shit, sorry, was playing Vermintide
...god I wish I had access to the chainaxe right now
None of Veteran's other melees really gel with me for some reason
I know the Catachan swords are REALLY good, but I just... kinda don't enjoy them
Do you have access to a folding shovel
Not yet, I'm only level 8
I only have access to the basic shovel
Which is fine enough, but it feels kinda piddly
Standard-issue shovel does everything but carapace so goes good with krak nades
Don't get me wrong, the visual of beating the shit out of legions of Nurgle cultists with naught but a simple shovel delights me endlessly, but it feels Not Great
...though maybe my issue was the shovel had dogshit level 1 stats...
Yeah a lot of weapons feel bad with low stats
Chainsword at level 10 should set you good for a good while
Yup
...yeah it 100% was a case of bad stats giving me a terrible first impression
This rules
shovel is an excellent crowd control bonkstick
not a massive killing machine, but it does the job and staggers like nobody's business
genuinely my favourite veteran melee weapon
Plus it's funny
Which is an automatic W in my book
Keep your lousy chainswords and warp blades, keep your crummy chainaxes and eviscerators
Me and my shovel here will do just fine
The only weapon that you can also dig a small hole with.
Well, you can dig holes with just about anything given enough time
It's just the shovel makes it easier than, say, a lasgun
What manner of warp trickery is this
without my glasses that looks like a spoky mean monster
It won’t load and the results are amusing to me
Nope
dang
At work, connections kinda shit
Finally unlocked the power sword
This feels so fucking good
It's nice having a weapon I actually enjoy using
the previous owner was not ready to let go of their armor yet
I have obtained Cool Coat and Cool Pants
what's that coat from? 👀
Penance
Really easy one too, it's just "restore 7500 toughness with the shout ability"
Which I mean, 7500 is a pretty decent amount, but I literally just let myself get shot at, shouted, waited for it to recharge, rinse and repeat
Shit was mad easy
Damn you got the same hair face and tatts as my zealot
Holy smokes, it's Sienna Fuegonasis, from the hit horde shooter game Vermintide 2
Question regarding Kantrael, is +damage to unarmored and +damage to flak armored my best bet for bonuses?
are you doing the blurn thing?
with flechette?
unarmored and infested gets you both kinds of horde
Not yet, haven't gotten Flechette yet
<@&1042950387478560878> wanna tide??
Who up tidin on they darks
flak lets you gut shot maulers and scab ragers
we could tide
And scab gunners, right?
Aye
It's nice having an option to just send them flat on their asses
...god I wish so fucking badly we could use their giant chainsaw axes
They'd go so hard on zealot
I want the 2h chainaxe so bad
more big 2 handed stuff in general would be great
no 1 wishlist item is powerfist tho
Oh yeah, more Big Boy Melees would be nice
Hammer and eviscerator are all we have at the moment, I yearn for more huge weaponry
and the croncher but yea
Let me use the ogryn's melees on the other classes
I want to beat the everloving shit out of my foes with a comically large shovel as a veteran
@regal pendant you wanna join me
darktide's servers are exploding
keep trying that mission
maybe we'll get to accept in the five seconds we get in the mourning star
fear
rip servers
brb need to check laundry
Sorry, was already playing with another friend :[
And I'm taking a break for now
All good
Yeah I run that kit with my helbores
I do quite like that long coat but everyone and their mother is wearing it, and there's just something nice about a regular leather jacket anyway
Oh this poor drop ship lmao
...I just did what is possibly the smoothest brain shit I have ever done in this game
Trapper trapped a teammate, I rush over to get em up and pass the trapper and figure "I have time, she'll run off and circle back"
She did not, in fact, run off and circle back
the smoothest brain shit you have ever done in this game so far
we all have smoothbrain moments
lmao
What's the optimal range to use a Kantrael shotgun at?
The pellet spread makes it feel really swingy in terms of damage at range
Which one is the kantrael shotgun?
The highest damage one with Dragon's Breath alt fire
It's meant to be a close range option IIRC
It can knock enemies on their ass at range if you ADS, but it's not going to be as good as killing them as the slug
It does out to pretty decent middle range on ADS
But yeah I’d say 10-30 meters maybe?
And you can@spam down trappers and snipers and the like if you’re willing to fire a whole tube into the void
Right
If it's too far to line up a good ADS weak spot hit, load a fire shell and ADS because the fire ticks will do more than the shell will outside 15m
pulled off my first clutch in 400hrs just now
very pleased with myself for not panicking too much
I did do a bunch of clutches back when I played vermintide
but clutching in darktide is a very different experience
bc you can't dodge dance most things
Were there Sniper or gunner pack equivalents in Vermintide?
Ratling gun
No sniper equivalent, but there were three disablers where dt has two that permanently disable (mutant just damages really)
But generally less ranged enemies and being able to dodge dance everything made it easier ish
Ratlings only ever spawned one at a time usually, though, unless you got STUPENDOUSLY unlucky
But even if more than one spawned you could just duck behind cover, wait for them to get bored, and then pop em
gunner swarms are maybe the most dangerous thing in this game
Unless you're a bubble psyker with Absorber 4 on yer force sword
when the director decides, you know what, I'm in a gunny mood
gunner swarms before they patched out knockback were somehow enviro hazards as well as just straight up 'kill you dead'
FUCK your dumbass bullets, I'M the one in control here
my dream, my rules
Exactly
It is stupidly satisfying just giving gunners the middle finger as you absorb their rounds and dodge into cover
...anyone else though, yeah, gunner swarms are fucking awful
Or snipers
I love suppression immunity for that reason on vet
Just in general
just, fuck you gunners
Same, that shit is so nice to have
snipers you can at least react to the zhooup before they fire
snipers you can actively dodge yeah
gunners you just sort of have to not exist in sight of
whenever I hear the trapper sound, no matter what I'm doing, I always dodge on reflex
I mean, I know we have guns and shit to help deal with them, but like
The amount of gunners alone feels egregious sometimes
i don't know what else they would do given naked hordes are non-factors
the servers would probably flop over and die to one million poxwalkers in a single wave before a single zealot would
True
It's probably me being a Vermintide boomer and grumbling about back in MY day, specials were really special, they weren't spammed at you, you got your ratlings and your packmasters and your assassins sure but they were a big occasion, you newfangled special waves grumble grumble grumble
more powerful enemies allow for more powerful player characters
Also true
...though they do feel more frail than Vermintide's somehow
Then again that's probably me playing wrong
i mean specials being more fragile seems like you playing more right if anything
lmao
No the player characters lmao
play with me sometime I will make you immortal
Like, it feels like I get hit with one bullet while my Toughness is down, whoop, quarter of your health gone
oh
...which has only really been an issue on my Veteran, still getting used to this melee/guns build
yeah Veteran is made of tissue paper
I'm goddamn near invincible with Psyker thanks to all the Toughness DR I can get, and Zealot
Well
it's primarily a class thing, Zealot is extremely chonky
Is Zealot
...god it's fucking stupid how tanky my melee psyker is, I love it
I genuinely thought I'd be struggling to make this work above malice but no, I'm tearing shit apart and it's my new favorite build
the build I like to run has a lot of teammate support talents
the other half of it is a Crit Machine that generates +100 Toughness overheal and the 30% TDR every ~12 seconds with access to a large horde
it makes the team very hard to kill
Veteran needs to put a lot of points into saving itself with stuff like Iron Will but Shout alone makes your team borderline unkillable
Shout also stacks with Chorus iirc so
having 200 bonus regenerating overshield is pretttttyyyyy good
it rules, you can't die
I'm too aggressive to play a Veteran
the best way to handle a clutch recovery situation is to simply never let it happen
I like killing people with hammers
Veteran's biggest weakness is something the game never tells you
shitty stamina regen
the combo of shout and chorus also gives you massive uptime on 'oops we made a fuck up but I pressed F'
'so we win'
Which is +50% damage vuln while sprinting
...whar
Never sprint in combat as vet or you explode
all the characters have hidden damage mods based on state
yep
Psyker also takes more but it's a less drastic modifier
ogryn and pskyer I don't remember exactly but it's more of a mixed bag
Psyker is iirc about the same as veteran
Or at least functionally similar since you’re somewhat squishier
Wait but if Vet is so frail why does it have so many melee boosting talents
even on vet your melee is your primary
Including an entire capstone centered around switching between melee and ranged
but I think even just at a baseline veteran has lower health but somewhat higher toughness than a zelly or psyker
maybe about equal of both with psyker
ogryn isn't worth comparing for obvious reasons
You just don’t sprint in melee with them
Means you’re more “stuck” in combat
Yeah, vet can just dodge an it's fine
While zelly can just be like “fuck this” and sprint away from some people
Zealot also only has like, three ranged-centric talents
in my onion my play on most classes improved when I stopped sprinting mid-combat anyway
tbh
blocking and pushing is really good
so sprinting is a lot more important to a zealot than a gun liker
Yeah I play mostly psyker so I just don’t sprint much in a fight
The basic idea is that Zealot can pick and choose their fights better
Where Veteran picks their fights by shooting everything in the head
Virtually all of my unexpected deaths come from ignoring that
the fail-block animation is usually followed by me getting chunked for one trillion hp
so I'm a bit more wary about what I spend my stam on these days
The fun part about melee veteran is they can't shoot you if you sprint at them at mach 1 with a catachan knife at 80% mobility because they're swapping to melee (||except gunner gunners, they'll just shoot you||)
I need to be more careful with stamina usage tbh
and/or run the 'dodging ranged fire gives back stamina' talent more
also ultimately you have to get used to fihgting in melee with all classes
nobody gets to just shoot forever
Man
fundamentally everyone has to be capable of fighting off things with melee
I ought to run knife sometime
It's surprisingly powerful!
It seems fun
because no matter how you play at some point you will get stuck in melee with Stuff
and not understanding how to manage that will kill you
it is
I've been not using it bc I've been getting penances for the other two capstones
but I need to use it more
It really picks up good if you synergize the talents
What's the absolute fastest you can get in this game anyway?
Like, the most breakneck speed possible?
Cause I'm kinda tempted to run a sprint speed build just because I think it would be funny
It's speed on crit Disrupt Destiny Scrier's Gaze Psyker with a knife by far for burst speed, I call it Psyonic the Hedgehog
Lmao
ADMIN HE DOING IT SIDEWAYS
Huh - today I learned, dueling swords have same run speed as the knife
duelling swords also have the very funny scream run trikc
where you just run around charging heavy attack and sprinting to boost your speed
knives do that too
but thhe knife lunge is significantly longer
so it's faster overall
yeah fair
Yeah the Mk4 dueling sword is all forward thrusts on heavy for peak mutant stabbing
otoh sword itself is obviously longer
sword is better than knife onn psyker as a whole
i like knife just fine personally but i do like psyker getting their own elaborate fancy shchmancy swashbuckler thing
so i use it just for that
there's an implication at least some of the psykers are former nobility
so they know how to use the stupid dueling weapons
Dueling Sword gets Shred and more crits always rule
loner psyker in particular has a lot of lines that imply that they used to be fairly high up in class prior to the manifestation of their powers
kim katsuragi psyker also just seems like he would be trained in stupid duelling swords because that's just what you learn at cop school
That makes me wonder how Dreamer psyker knows
Did the Emperor just beam the knowledge into their head
but presumably they must have been someone fairly important
or someone would have murdered them long before now
they're the only person who exists so every weapon they can see can be operated
instruction via solipsism
No no, clearly it's because everything is just their dream
They can't die, you can't kill someone that's dreaming you
yeah they're the protagonist of reality
liars
Or is this like an MMO dream
They go to sleep and spend the night playing Darktide
Side note, it's so weird that all the other characters are so mundane and then there's just "Oh yeah they have a private telephone line to the goddamn Emperor of Mankind himself"
Or... something, anyway
It's gotta be more than just a delusion, Dreamer psykers talk about Necrontyr sometimes
Which absolutely nobody but a select few would know about
100% the emperor is talking to some of the psyker voices
no way their beloved is anything else
he's probably doing it for the laughs
cuz at the end of your zoomies you can open up a can of soup
I have been tinkering with a stealth momentum rev it up chainaxe zealot
and its very funny to just annihilate a crusher
Someone mentioned that the personality seems in line with TTS Emperor once based off the responses from the psyker, and tbh I gotta agree with them
I don't like not healing my team though, it feels better to know someone is healing so its hard not to bring the usual build
the corruption cleanse passive?
I only run the corruption passive because its how the things I want route
both for protecting myself but also keeping my team constantly topped-off with that +100
but with the new gas grenade guys it has a lot more utiltiy
oh that's extremely true actually
you take a lot more chip corruption than you used to
before it was like, healing dogs and grimoires
and you can dodge dogs easy
the left side aura is a lot better but all the chants with the +30% TDR make up for that
I'll show my whole build so you can see what I mean
it was very funny watching the grimoire corruption bounce up and down infinitely
I value the few ranged traits so I don't have the budget to swing sideways a lot
so I just take the corruption aura for efficiency
but green gas makes it a lot more useful
I want to pick up Thy Wrath Be Swift but I don't know what I'd give up to take it
I love vet shout
but I have a soft spot for kill stance based on how funny it used to be (fire a bolter down a hallway, have your ult back instantly)
I really don't get what I'd run kill stance for nowadays
invis rez and shout's... everything are just so strong I don't even know where I'd say 'yes, this gun wants kill stance'
That one fan the hammer revolver
that one I also run shout on
