#dark tidings (Darktide for people in the searchbar)
1 messages · Page 8 of 1
if you go midtree it's totally possible to splash a couple of points to grab the additional slide distance
wait there's multiclassing?
well there's a skill tree
or do you mean classes within psyker?
broken into broad left/middle/right sections
Okay maybe I just need to see how much the game's changed lol
Basically
you really should
Going faster on crit hit x3 is a super cool node
You know how VT2 has the subclasses?
Darktide gave each class three careers then collided them together into one skill tree superstructure
all right cool
So you can mix and match freely
And you can kinda mix and match
Not freely
If you go down the left path you cannot go for the right path on the ability after
Depends on the tree
You cannot take Brain Blast and the Crit Aura, for example
Vet can do that
Oh cool
it absolutely can get me killed lol; but it is nice to be baseline fast enough to walk away from things trying to hit me
Vet and Zealot are siloed off by point premiums, Ogryn and Psyker by the pathways just not connecting
my boss killer sticky nade launching gungryn might switch to middle tree, just cause... the ult optionals don't do a lot for the rumbla
more rending on the nade impact is ok i guess
That applies to the detonation, too
I think rumbler gungryn should swing to the middle after getting the ult, though
Since the right hand tree is otherwise stubber focused
oh does it?
i was under the impression it didn't apply to the boom
cause then i like shootnig napalm nades
i do side stroke into bigger boom for the gungryn
Makes sense
Rumbler Gungryn might shoot 100-150 rumbler shots in a round so lucky bullet adds about 8-12 more shots on the board which I'll easily trade for a bazillion toughness damage reduction from Feel No Pain
My Gungryn record is 230 Kickback shots and I gotta get those numbers up to compete with my 1k ripper shots or 6k stubber shots fired
ok
we do love killin
Mmmm, rock
what's this called I finished installing
the Agripinaa Mk XIV Quickdraw Stub Revolver
I got Run and Gun blessing on one recently (shoot while sprinting) and it rules and is completely impractical
thank you!
yeah I don't think you can fanfire while sprinting unfortunately
it's kind of wild to me that fanfire makes the gun more accurate but I guess if it was the other way around, it would never be usable
There were several moments I was sprinting and trying to shoot and was like "why aren't the gun shooting" and turns out gun wasn't loaded from having just sprinted and shot so what I want is a Yosemite Sam variant that gives you two revolvers
So I bought the funny semiauto rifle
oh my god its so good
scraw
?
hawkmoon sound
Oh lol
I'm talking the rifle but that other one does sound fun
Though likely not practical for my current build of 'ew don't get near me'
The headhunter rifles rule because they both have a quick rifle bash and you can charge up the bash for a super bonk
I'm sad you can't rename your ops
cuz I would totally rename my vet into 'Bera of the Bullet'
we are simply out here
Cool coat
It was I think the first premium outfit item for vet lol
and I was and still am
a slut for jackets
Hey wait I have those pants
It's a tuff look.
but yeah my vet look is now complete with the scion helmet
just a simple 'this is my job, no hard feelings'
and their head goes bye-bye
whoever told me about the semi-auto autogun
Thank you for telling me about the vraks headhunter lol
God damn do we shoot bullet
I'm very slowly coming around to the new revolver. Previously I felt like I just couldn't get headshots with the damn thing. Turns out it was just a shit revolver I had
I had that issue too
So I hucked it into Hadrons grinder and stole the blessing off it
It’s relatively lasery with good rolls
It doesn't out perform the lasguns for me range wise but I've seen people take down snipers that I don't believe had even finished rendering in yet.
I am personally satisfied with the autogun funnily enough, despite what I said earlier about my hunter main status
Realized I like playing sniper vet
Tho part of me feels bad taking a lot of gunner or shotgunner kills from the zealot lmao
It feels incredible, counter sniping and all the perks that vet get make guns feel buttery smooth
'oh there's a scab sniper'
I don't, they need to get their hands dirty more efficiently. I say this as a Zealot main.
'Imagine needing a scope you poor, rotting bastard~'
I thought you were gonna say "oh theres a scab sniper-no there isn't"
My vet is a conceited bitch
who when she's drunk asserts she's the best shot on the ship
You get used to it
As zealot
It’s only annoying if you’re running throwing knives
Same vibe with the ogy brick, you whip a brick at a mutant and it's shredded before it connects
i love how you use to be so leery of iom shit and now you are rocking the most goon ass fit you might possible be able too lol
She gets a helmet that means shes important and therefore in charge. My guy keeps misplacing his.
l m a o
smite is hilarious btw
it also helps that most of the community I interact with surrounding 40k is like 'yo the imperium is fucked'
which allows me to sort of revel in it being fucked
my vet is 100% a goon
"man jin-roh looks fuckin weird nowadays"
Trying out the bolter
Also I can't decide if I like the bolter
Great against specials and elites, but god it's slow
drip
Bolter has strong love hate
I think my biggest gripe is the return to zero time while semi auto firing
Leaves me missing a LOT of shots I shouldn't
I think for now I'm gonna remain an autogunner
God darktide is so good now
Fuck me
The Bolter is the only sniper that can also be used to panic-clear a horde
I admittedly
Plasma is good for ripping hordes apart on the approach but once you're surrounded you're pretty fucked
Did use it that way
And the Lucius is just not good for hordes in general
But I prefer to rely on meatshi- I mean zealots and ogryn
While I pick off snipers and shotgunners and etc
You're just salty I barely used my guns at launch
I do still crave dual weapons Ngl
lol
I've thought about that too, dual wielding in terms of mechanics and I feel like it would have to be pretty limited. Ideally not limiting it to an active ability but more like weapons that have bayonets affixed.
Having a psyker be able to use the staff and also have a knife out would be nice. Same for laspistol and knife on vet. That wimpy ass shove they do instead is nothing.
I think what unde meant is like how dual hammers are a melee weapon for bardin in verm
Ooooh
what you're talking about would be cool too tho
I mean ya fuck it why can't the ogryn carry two power mauls
Hit themselves in the head when they try
I wanna see the big man Mike Haggar double lariat
Thats fair
lightnings claws go
Or power fists. Something anything, I'm trying to go ape on some bozos
Or that shredded gauntlet
I'm still hoping for dual and for pistol/ melee options
I'd love to see the shield and Grenade gauntlet as a combo
Crusader sword n board plox
Imagine with the claw you can clamp on to a crusher or a boss and just lock in for an all out slug fest. Knock a whole plague ogryns brain out
And I want to wield a laspistol and chain sword
My single biggest wish atm is still ladygryn
i think my nebulous biggest wish is just a wider arsenal for the ogryn
but ofc they do need to have their own niches, roles, and flavors
please give the ogryn some new guns
im also maybe a bit more niche/bias here, but i do wish the vet could get a proper lmg
could differ from the braces as something that can/has to bipod deploy or something maybe, i dunno
just love the flavor image lol
Dude yes! My support vet needs to lock in for suppression fire but spam clicking isn't doing it for me
I guess you could see it as stepping on ogryn's toes a little bit since their rippers are really good at suppression. So are the stubbers but I just wish that vet had more options to play with that mechanic
Ok heres the plan, we remove braced autoguns
I think one of the weird things Darktide weapons runs into is that it is extremely faithful to tabletop weapon depictions (the tactical axes are right out of Rogue Trader for example) and there’s some gaps
Like… lmgs just kind of aren’t a thing in 40K
Outside of primaris space marine funny cawl bolters
well you got heavy stubbers and such
Those are hmgs, though
The heavy some of them look like mmgs but this is probably a silly distinction
They're pretty specifically the big, mounted machine guns
But yeah heavy stubber models are mostly either the space m2hb or some kind of 40s-50s era .30 cal machine gun
I would like to see some of the weirder weapons in darktide though
Like webbers or something
We have the tabletop giving us the drum fed auto, but yeah ive not seen any real depictions of lmgs; rather things seem to go straight up to mmg and hmgs
maybe inquistorial acolyte heroic class in the future, where you can get digital weapons
the TTRPGs seem to have heavy stubbers that are man portable enough at least
That does look pretty sick
Him being the art for the long range precision tree is hilarious
Hell ya
Also oh my god surge staff and smite are everything I ever wanted as a psyker
full palpatine is fun
surge staff being anti armor/single target
smite being cc
is a fun combo
I mean the ogys run twin stubbers and heavy stubber. There's guard units that can run a standard stubber but usually it's in machine gun crews just like we would in the real world.
so the heavy stubber, usually, for the guard is on a wheeled or otherwise mobile mount rather than carried by an individual
and at least as far as models go, almost always a twin (which i thought was interesting)
except on tanks
But we're special soooo. Gimme that bipod it's just a new makeshift handle.
Idk, i feel like a single barrel stubber could be cumbersome like the bolter but not impossible to wield.
The real question is would you trade lasgun mobility for a Hot Shot power pack
And just. Never. Stop. Shooting.
I really like the renegade militia stubber team
I think that’s because the dkok are really the only imperials who get them
They do like their field guns.
Yes
Easy
Absolutely
didn't they use to be a heavy weapon options for guardsmen? Or was that the multilaser?

I think you have to go back before 3e to Imperial Army days for those
hotshot las would be amazing
Thats all the dakka I need
But I wouldn't mind if we get meltas
Not trying to absolutely trivialize maulers/crushers. But slicing through a mixed horde of flak and carapace baddies would make me feel like a baddie
i do wonder how meltas would get balanced
probably range and ammo count
pocket crusher eliminator 5000 but not a general use weapon
they could presumably also balance around making it so that attacks put like a bajillion rending or brittleness on the target, so the first shot doesn't instagib, but the second shot does
That's their issue on the TT - very poor range
theyd be the single most powerful thing on the table
My gut feeling would be something kind of like the flamers except its just a high damage high ammo consuming piercing beam not a dot
With the attendent long draw and reload times
Ya that's exactly what I pictured
final word on crusher, mauler, and armored enemy killing; but maybe a laundry list of like inconveniences to make it happen
You're definitely not get picks with it. Scab snipers cackling as you try
Overall could just have bad handling. And likely a charge weapon. Could even take a hit to your toughness if you overcharge it
Tbh though my pie in the sky is a squat
Even if it isn't one that gets plasma melee I beg let me have space dorf
And one voice just be a confused as fuck bardin
still faithfully and patiently waiting on the ratling
I picked the shortest option for Vet and maxed speed and stamina for one build. Infi lasgun and a knife, thats the closest I've gotten. I love him, he's so fast and snappy
But squishy like a marshmallow
Having brought it yet but I think this'll round out my sniper Vet's look.
Dang there's some cool cosmetics rn
to the people who say that space marines could make Darktide's story more interesting.
I'm people
tbh im kinda glad they're not present atm, or in the limelight
also helps with as far as like... the somewhat wack power scaling of dt
Big true, though I can really see a detachment of plague marines being deployed in Tertium's case. Especially since the other hive city on Atoma has probably fallen to the Cult of Admonition.
We don't talk about that
If they ever showed up in a game sense, we'd fight at most one guy. And he'd probably be missing an arm.
That better be a full raid boss if we fight a plague marine
PM are REALLY tanky in lore, but at the same time, 4 regular ass guardsmen (Not veterans) took down a CSM in a surprise attack.
40k powerscaling is whack but if the rejects can take down a chaos spawn a plague marine is within their wheelhouse
I think it's kind of important to put into context just how fucking cracked the Mourningstar Auric Kill Team is
EXACTLY
And 1 Tau killed like a whole detachment of Neophytes plus a battle brother once so it's not impossible but
Railgun moment
I do think it should be a Oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck situation
Little bit of that, a little bit of guerilla warfare
When we analyze the point cost of units in 10th ed. we mind that the Mourningstar Auric Kill Team (Us, just for context.) can reliably kill a 70 point model. (Beast of Nurgle)
Compared to say a squad of PM (90 Points for 5 models)
It's safe to say that our operative are (accounting for lore ratios) on par if not more powerful than a plague marine. Though both are lethal as FUCK for different reasons
Ooh that gives us more budget than, what if it was a Terminator?
The biggest benefit our squad has is that we're HIGHLY adaptable and Psyker capable.
Like, the psyker is openly stated to be as powerful as a Sanctioned Psyker. (Unless you're Savant Psyker, then you're actually a Sanctioned Psyker)
And guess what
And also can't die, they keep capturing us and we keep getting rescued. Foolish of them really.
Oh damn
A Astra Militarum veteran is a specific thing in warhammer too
Like, he's not a vet like your grandad is, Vet is a status symbol for surviving overwhelming odds OVER AND OVER
Too bad I said no to the commissar once and they sent me to jail
The Zealot manifests miracles at a rate Sisters get jealous over
Thats true
The closest tabletop unit is probably the Inq. Henchmen KT which unfortunately can't be used in normal 40k
(There is a henchmen unit for TT but its different)
And don't even get me started on the Ogryn, who IN CANON is a walking miracle
I love my big man
It's why his boneead implant doesn't work. He literally died and came back to life to lift a fallen Valkyrie aircraft off his squad leader.
A FUCKING VALKYRIE
Our team is fucking NUTS
That's actually one of the less impressive Ogryn feats of strength
A valk's only like 10,000 lbs or something
Literally to loyal to die
There's a short story where an Ogryn's CO gets badly wounded and the Ogryn drags the 38 ton chimera APC with a medkit inside over because its too dark to enter
I like the ogryn that got his hands on the Black Sword and used it to smite a Khornate Berserker
Then lied about it. (Not canon)
When I first played DT and saw that Ogryn could stop a plague ogryn I called cap, but not anymore
Ogryn are basically human tyranid warriors who suck at aiming stat wise on the TT
Though the TT rules aren't terribly lore accurate
But they're super beefy
Cries in Custodian player
I remember this one.
I love them too but if they were lore accurate they wouldn't be in a skirmish in the first place
Next special mission, bamf suddenly 3 Death Shroud Terminators are here to rumble and the rejects drew the short straw. We winning?
the main thing about our rejects is that we are grossly overpowered for expendable prisoner resources
Op? Nah we built different
no imperial commander in their right mind would look at a group of 4 normal humans with second rate gear that regularly takes down beasts of nurgle, chaos spawn, and plague ogryns, and regularly slaughters thousands of heretic poxwalkers, traitor guardsmen, and dregs, and go "Those are bottom barrel assets"
because the following question would be "how is this conflict even an issue if our worst, most expendable, least trusted fighters are this scary?"
Drops daemonhosts too. " Met chaos, wasn't impressed"
Yeah the Rejects are just extremely not normal
Darktide could have you play as space marines and it'd make sense with your killcounts
"That scruffy looking madman just headshotted six highly trained traitor guardsman while jumping and blocking incoming blows from threats in melee with 5 shots in their revolver."
"Yes, that's one of our worst marksmen really"
"One of the shots was a twofer. What an amateur"
Honestly I feel like us being 'Rejects' is kinda... bleh. Cause it means that it doesn't make much lore sense for us being able to like, survive fighting any of the cool signature enemies of the setting, or getting any of the cool unique weapons
i personally liked it, narratively really pressed home that we were not the special MC's of a heroic story
lets us get down in the pipes
with the grime
even if mechanically we are like gods of war
I'm fine with the bottom of the barrel weapons. Lore wise all these guns have been through a dozen hands before us. Or more!
"you're not soldiers, you're rejects. Fight like it"
like, narratively we're the kinds of people who don't punch tanks to death, flying dragon kick space marines, or shit in abaddons breakfast cereal while he watched. We're just some folks. Folks who start out even lower than your normal person
the horrors of the universe actually retain some of the horror, so to speak
Who somehow manage to regularly take down odds that would make a Space Marine Tactical Squad go "We might die here"
tbf that's characteristic of the top tier weapons of 40k
lol its true, 40k do be going "oldgood"
We oughta be using fresh-off-the-manufactory junk :p
Tho I do have one hang up. When we get welcomed into the warband at level 30 we are irrefutably soldier. Unless Glendal has different naming conventions
Brothe captain, how old is your power sword?
Old as fuck brother, old as fuck. It can cut through a battleship.
Ya but those are relics
I think at rank 30 we become your bum standard inquisitorial hench
Made with the newest, most degenerated manufacturing techniques because the only guy who knew how to make it right got in a 300 year long political fight and then died without teling any secrets
A old pattern bolter with a dented mag isn't something to glorify from my point of view
the real question is do you need old af bullets with your old af gun to get maximum effect, or can you shoot new bullets out of old guns and have them still do oldgood magic
“This sword was forged under the watchful eyes of the emperor” accidentally drops it
I actually conceptually like the idea of "upgrading" your weapons being their legend growing with use from base origins
40k is generally pretty antithetical to modern views tbf
it cuts through the floor, and the ground beneath, and then it keeps falling until it cuts the core of the planet.
"Forget the miracles of technology etc"
the dents on the bolter mag are probably holy impressions made by the emperor's own butt cheeks
(Though there is something to it in certain cases because stuff like daemons are more vulnerable to a weapon which has been used extensively than a fresh one with no "story" to it)
and thus automatically bless the bolts inside
That was a graze that didn't kill it's last owner
Nah instead they died when the virus bombs dropped
oh coming back to this, yes, mechanically we do that, narratively we are "Prison rejects with enough skill to keep us in the inquisitions good graces, and eventually enough to earn both respect and standing during our servitude to the inquisition"
rather than "literal war gods" from a narrative perspective
we were in jail for being too good at killing heretics, apparently
And I'm just not a big fan of what feels like such a massive glaring contradiction between the narrative and the mechanics
while our toughness would probably easily eat a shot from a gun in the field, if Mr Acolyte chose to blast us as the informant, we would totally have just fallen over dead
Like, the narrative feels almost directly opposed to the actual mechanics of the game there's such a gap
Maybe it's a, "don't let the rejects in on about how ridiculously good they are."
I think it sort of makes sense for 40k's usual protagonist-centered-powerscaling
With some exceptions like a chaos spawn really oughta kill more people than it does
one of hte weirder ones imo is why a sanctioned psyker was imprisoned and being sent to a labor camp to die of work when psykers are considered such massive risks and liabilities
My double think about it is we the player are just that good. Like our guys suck without us. Obviously we're not part of the fiction in any way. But without us the odds are fucked for the rejects
I'd accept "Yeah the Rejects are just straight up blessed by The Emperor to kill heretics good"
That's a fun way to look at it
I chalk that up to your basic Imperial beurecratic incompetency.
My white hot take is that the whole thing with the mourningstar is a tzeentchian op to fuck with nurgle's fellas
i usually look at the mechanics are just for the gameplay, and the narrative is the narrative i guess; I think its a bit appealing to be part of the org instead of having to always be HashTagMrProtagonistFace and actually just be a freak of fate and nature
But I think this is exceedingly unlikely to be true
Feed em to the throne more like
i kinda like the idea that as we advance in the ranks, we're amongst the ranks of the trusted, like the group we see walk past us early on
rather than being so powerful that we could prbably take on the entire crew of the mourningstar
all our senior members included
Ya.
just go supersaiyan, ditch the guns, fly out of the stained glass windows on the deck, fly to the hive, lift the hive and throw it into space
I'm definitely on team "don't let the rejects know they could be running this show" with how back stabby and cagey the inquisition politics are
the guns are just limiters
Exactly
Shit they gave the Vet a shovel with a pick on the back of it and now you can reliably just undo a crusher with a solid swing. Where the fuck is my Black Blade. Point me in the direction of Typhus
grendel telling a space marine captain "yeah basically they killed actual daemons with nothing by shovels and anger. A lot of daemons actually. Also not a shred of lasting corruption; they just get drugs from a medicae and no more heresy. It's great"
"I have no idea why we don't just use krak grenades for everything"
Where is my rotary krak launcher
"Yeah none of them even have a shield also. Your iron halo would be a joke to them"
Next ogy weapon
i want an ogryn multilaser or some other kind of energy weapon
An ogryn Multilas would be cool
the main thing is carving out a niche for it against the stubber without giving the ogryn a sniper rifle
lascannon would be neat too, but would also call for some limiting/mitigating factor to not make it crazy
Ya our big man can totally figure it out
Could be single shot, long reload/charge time
give the ogryn a conversion beamer lol, turns the target of the shot into an explosive munition
I was thinking about this last night while playing. One of our randoms go snagged by a trapper on a floor above and we couldn't get back there to free em. Should there be a free yourself mechanic?
mm, personally i think nah. Theres a real benefit for being grouped up as a team
and if you run off alone and get snagged
thats kind of on you
no but there should be a "go to the emperor" option to avoid softlocking the team for 45 seconds while you corruption out
That's just it we were. It's unfortunately just a fucked spawn
yeah there should be a "i give up" option that lets you just die
Poor guy got yoinked mid-jump
but i think a free yourself is a no from me
It defeats the purpose of the mechanic if there's an option to free yourself
I do like a go to the emperor option. That's one of the things that we were discussing last night. If you could just drop a box of grenades at your feet with all the pins pulled
yeah I think that's a good idea
It takes SO LONG for someone to die of a net too
i remember losing a match, it was the putting false security info one, with the final dash down the stairs to the elevator
it was a hi intensity shock troop
and last run was a wild mad dash
2 ppl went down, 2 made it to the elevator. We couldn't win because the two that went down werent dead yet
then scab bombs and flames filled the elevator
and we lost
with people inside the exit -_-
I know this feeling
What if struggling to free yourself increase the speed of gain corruption but basically brought you down to one wound however didn't kill you
it might be funnier to be able to roll or hop yourself very slowly while in the net or down
just little scootches
Scooches is good to
That at least gets rid of being trapped on a out of bounds part of the map
I wouldn't even mind a catch up teleport for all the 1 ways
Ya would be worth it. It only happens in pubs. When I have a full team we do time the jump so no one is left behind
Jesus the patience required for public games. I feel like I'm always halfway between the guy running and trying to speedrun the entire map and the two guys that are lagging behind because they haven't seen this map yet and are just investigating everything and opening every box
I refuse to trust them not to get trapped or dogged
people skipping boxes because they gotta go fast fast fast
bother me
i want
the goods
Loot!
its how i fuel my crippling "make new weapons" addiction
i need that plasteel
diamantine can kinda kiss my ass atm
I want loot, shit this game is fun take your time. Lol i just don't get it
but plasteel is where its at
Where are you rushing back to, huh? The Morningstar!? That place smells like farts and nobody quips or smiles at you...
I hate that place
If I'm not killin heretics I'm havin a bad time
it is sometimes funny
you can tell who's just blasting music
and trying to be in a sprint flow state
cause they don't notice shit
special cues, horde sounds, boss sounds, none of it
Admittedly me when lvl 15 Zealot
Before Heresy missions
Muting my Spotify is the equivalent of leaning forward because now I'm serious
though i still gripe about the sneaky stealth bursters
i swear they've been silently running up to people
or only start ticking when they're about 3 meters away
I had one that spawned in the middle of a 25+ group of poxwalkers. I even got the shove off when I managed to pick it out but it rebounded off the fucker behind it and blew up and sent both me and my ogryn over a rail and straight to hell.
I. Haaaaaate them. They've been so bad lately.
Yeah that's why I have Spidey Sense installed
does it give a visual indicator?
Mhm, it adds a visual warning to your HUD
im tired of surprise bursters
You can customise distance, types of enemies that show up, the lot
down with the tyranny of surprise bursters
I personally just do bursters and trappers
This is incredible news
Trappers too because the spawns sometimes are just abysmal sometimes. Turn a corner no audio queue or anything. Just net and sadness
Shock Gauntlets always get me because nobody expects a third trapper
The worst is when there's literally multiple trappers lining up in a row so while you're shooting through one the one behind them nets you
In the special mission in the trap room that fills with gas that one door that spits out like 4 trappers. I just always have my zealot fire bomb that general area and lay into them with my autogun.
on the astartes thing tho
i would enjoy fighting a plague marine as an event boss( for the love of god only a single one
)
but i couldn't see that happening anytime soon
U run plasma with a horde mulcher like a chainsword
Treat plasma like a big revolver and it'll treat you good
the maelstrom rn is super fun
I am being very cautious what would be ideal blessings for this. I got it on my Vet.
I thiiink you want something other than Decapitator but Decimator is BIS
righteous I'll look at the other options, thank you
its a good look
What is it?
it was a high intensity blackout with chance for boss to spawn instead of specials. We got stun locked in the first area and ran it a handful of times.
ooh
How embarassing. Someone's going to have to go and change.
But what if Cadian Twins instead
I mean that's what we did in voice chat lol
Cadia stands and shit
i wanna do a 4 man scion helmet squad
Man, that one Guardsmen must be getting a lot of dirty looks on the Morningstar for cracking wise at Cadia.
I have not encountered this guardsman
He's around. Probably looking behind his back these days.
If Cadia was so good the planet would still exist
This post was fact checked by Real Legion Patriots
✅ TRUE
if it wasnt that good abbadon wouldnt have had to try 13 times
Lol that just popped up as the gif name for a second and was very confused
agripinna mk XIV is the hammer fanning revolver right?
ye
christ lmao
i just noticed who those are
Jus like me fr
I know I've been a bit on about this for a few days
But holy fuck it's so much better now
revolver vet go bang
Hell YA it does. Feels incredible now, idk what changed. I need to fiddle with the build tho. I'm trying to get a good shouty vet build put together.
okay
combat blade and revolver is fucking goated oh my god
@cloud hazel the hunter main lives
Combat Blade needs really specific blessings to work at maximum efficiency, but it is really good with them
Extra dodge with your revolver is good in general
I like sword on my revolver cause pin point precision plus some sweep for the chaffe
okay
I wasn't even using the fan revolver yet
but I got one with a really good roll
Oh my god?
Yeah
the fan revolver is good with good stats
Its a very funny gun
Fan Fire x4
'oh this thing has to lose accuracy when fanning right?'
it's more accurate
my perks and blessing are ranged damage on elites, ranged crit chance, and speedloader
It's more accurate if you specifically tap fire
If you dump the cylinder you do get a lot of bloom
Speedloader is nice for it for sure
I felt the tap fire accuracy
I took a tox flamer's head off at like
50 paces
and audibly went 'I'm sorry, what the fuck?'
but yeah um
oh my god vet eats good lol
Mk6 knife eats hordes
Walk slow and crouch and it can still basically snipe
It's a little tricky to get 70m sniper headshots and it doesn't pierce like the slow revolver
I don't rly need pierce
this build just walks up behind people in stealth and blasts them away anyways
you will really miss pierce on higher haz
yep
also if you ever get matched with an ogryn
poxwalkers and your ogryn teammates diving in front of shots
pub players have the weirdest ability to stand in front of you at literally every possible opportunity
stealth starts having narrower windows of utility in dauric too
ah well
I play on the more normal difficulty levels anyways
and just
give ogryn a wide berth, as is necessary
if I play dauric it'll likely be my sharpshooter build that has executioner's stance
you definitely dont need to play dauric
i just do damnation and its good enough for me a lot of the time
Meanwhile I'm on Malice still
What level are you?
24 on vet, 18 on psyker
That's fine
You want to move up the difficulties eventually since your resource gain gets exponentially higher
especially at 5, where good runs can net you 600-700 plasteel
which is your real progress gate later on
but you can wait till you're 30 with dece gear to do that
Cool
For now I am simply enjoying playing Jacket from Hotline Miami reincarnated as a Cadian
btw
speaking of difficult levels
would I be able to handle a malice level maelstrom?
Fuck it, let's try
Good luck with da violence
malice maels are easy except for the scab melee only
scab-melee maels are pugcrushers at all levels
because most people dont have a solid way to deal with crushers without burning ammo
Scab melee is the fun
Krak head vet build good shit
Revolver, mk3 shoe
Shovel
Wish I could give ‘em the mk3 shoe
Get stompin
I run big shout, ammo regen, upgraded ammo and med kits, Shredder, nade regen, double nade, upgraded spot
One man team support batter
No revive shout, just shout more
As far as weapons I flip flop around, often it's chain axe, chain sword, or folding shovel + graia auto, Plasma, heavy laspistol, lawbringer, bolter
But big support build can kinda run anything so long as you ensure you bring solutions to problems
I've somewhat fallen in love with OG chain axe
For light shredders letting me spam in big melees against armored enemies with abandon
I deal with armored specials by stealthing and hitting em with a melee heavy headshot
new Vet shovel has a lovely can opener mode
I love playing Cadian Jacket
Mk3 shovel is an excellent all purpose solution and standard issue shovel is a great horde clear up to rager bonker
I in fact do eat scabs

Highly recommend a slug shotgun on Veteran with left bottom tree 15 stack focus, when stacked up the slug can one shot Reapers and do 2400 damage to Carapace and the buck shot primary does 2000 to most targets and 3000 Unyielding on weak spot
yee also slug stumbles anything sort of bosses
On the topic of shottys did they change the infinite cleaver of the fire shotgun? That was a really fun way to light up a horde and apply a dot
The cleave is still pretty much infinite for crowds, it just doesn't shoot through walls like it used to
Fire shells are much more efficient for poxwalkers than single blasting, especially past 10 meters
That's what I'd been using it for when I initially came back but stopped running it in favor of learning the revolver. Maybe my los was off. Either way I may be switching out to the combat shotty for the improved single target damage. My psyker handles horde clear like a champ anyway.
I'm a big fan of all 3 shotguns on Veteran because they work good with all 3 trees
Zealot still likes them for good ranged poke for a melee centric build
It's true, I run one on my crusher build.
Dash face first in start swinging get some knock downs, realize I've over extended because my team is fighting the flanking wave, huck a fire nade at my feet, start blastin. Repeat dashing from target to target.
I love this game ™️
my overextend class is stealth vet
which I both get into and out of trouble with stealth xD
Do you run the two charges?
Woops sorry for the ping
I love infiltrator it's my second favorite ability in the game
I have not tried any of the shotguns for veteran sharpshooter
Build
Usually run lawbringer to get the duck bill crowd swiper
The slugs of the shotguns are nasty, not to mention the irons are decent so you can take some unbelievable shots sometimes
I don't even feel the extra time it takes for it to recharge honestly. I feel like I always have it when I needed
Plus if you need to fix a data interrogator you have enough time to do that + activate it again and get out of dodge. That's the bulk of my play style. I also run the (forgive me I can't remember the name) "if you are running towards a downed ally you are faster and stronger and cooler" ability
Everyone makes it back no one gets left behind
man just tryied making a 510 hellbore mk2 with surgical and onslaught 3 and it just doesn't pack enough of a punch to pick it over the lasgun mk1a for my sharpshooter
maybe on my squad leader?
Is the mk2 the optimal variation?
The reason I ask is I have a gray with perfect stats and I've been putting off level.
I don't want to waste my time, since my first experience with the hellbore was just wretched
Mk2 is generally seen as the better one
I've never fallen in love with the helbore though
I keep trying
But it doesn't go the distance for me
The Mk2 is actually the weakest one overall
The Lucius Marks are 2 -> 1 -> 3 for Light -> Medium -> Heavy
Medium strikes the best balance between damage, charge rate and ammo consumption
Mk2 Helbore has the weakest base damage and really wants left side tree support
Surgical and Onslaught kind of work opposite each other a bit because if you're slamming out rapid fire shots it's not a lot of time for Surgical to build up and that's still okay
I want to like all of these interactions but from what I'm understanding they're more crutches for something that is underperforming. So disappointing I really want to like that gun.
I think you can get a Mk2 to fire faster than a Kantrael Mk12 with Onslaught 4 blessing
Well thats definitely something
I use a Mk2 on my shouty hybrid melee vet with a power sword and it feels great, the bayonet got buffed real good to stab specials and the gun's good enough to do precision shots
bzzt
The Hellbore slaps but it's a love it or hate it kinda gun. It 100% doesn't underperform
One of the players here, Micky, they're completely cracked with it
I think the biggest buff they could give the helbore is a scope that isn't complete dogshit
From what I've experienced the bayonet is my absolute favorite part of the gun
Biggest reason to install the Weapon Customisation mod imo
I know we talked about this previously the irons are such crap
Imma make it work. I kept trying with the revolver and I totally get it now. I'll do the same with the hellbore
Part of the Helbore jiujitsu is hip firing when you don't have time to aim on the move because they're actually decently accurate
That makes a lot of sense
Staying mobile means I get to stab more dingdongs with the pokey bit
You also sprint faster while charging up the bayonet stab yeah
What's up?
Where could I get it?
It's on the Darktide Nexus now
Oh sweet
https://www.nexusmods.com/warhammer40kdarktide/mods/277
I think this one's the one
Thank you
They did mention crashes as a possibility on the Nexus page so huh
Wait hang on
I'm using a MKIII Helbore and like, the sights on this are actually pretty good?
Like, they're just fine, I like them
Mk3 has the tiny post in the bracket which is good for precision blasting
give them the crusher mace
oof, yeah just made a mk1 now
and i still did awful, i think its lack of familiarity with it but i did so bad with it
compared to my usual fare
i think ill never build a good relationship with hte helbore
More big two-handed weapons in general, imo
What trees were you using it with?
almost entirely left side, with krak nades
havent run it on my shouty squad leader guy
Kraks are real good yeah, I do better with middle tree super tagging for the Mk1
<@&1042950387478560878> Who wants to get that plasteel in 15 minutes (at half past the hour)?
I can run a few
set and ready
Nice, booting up
going to chomp down on some nutty bars
They should add Nurglings as a boss monster
You can kill it easily, but another will immediately take its place
That don't do a lot of damage, but do really irritating things like unloading your gun or stealing your grenades
If they steal a grenade, they will gleefully cheer and run towards your nearest ally
There will be a grenade proximity indicator, and it is coming closer
"Uh, it took the frag bomb."
"It took the frag bomb."
"Oh my god it took the fucking frag bomb."
Me, a Psyker Player: Grenade?
damn this guys drip 😢 jelous
that poor innocent revolver
tacticruel
<@&1042950387478560878> 👀
In like an hour I get off work
yeehaw
sweet
What did you get?
Weapon Customization might not be helping
Ah. Should I drop it, then?
Maybe turn it off and see how perfomance goes then
Also, turn off the auto-randomization features in the settings
That may help
You have the Mod Framework and all that, right?
Ye
Yeah I'd turn off the Randomization and check then
Oh nevermind I found the issue
For some reason it set all my graphics settings on High
And I thought I set them in the launcher to Low
So I like, didn't check
Yippee a stable over 20 framerate!

What's the differences between the Ogryn Ripper Guns?
Uhh, I forget off the top of my head
the differences are basically how many rounds they shoot unbraced, and fire type braced
Eh, think I'll stick with the Kickback/Rumbler, until I get the Stubbers unlocked
and broadly accuracy/damage
This is fair
The Stubbers are like, the primary reason I'm interested in playing Ogryn in the first place tbh
Maybe Slab Shield, it sounds kinda neat
Grenadier Gauntlet's cool
I just want the Dakka
ok
on da way
The slab shield is pretty nuts just for the impact honestly. You can spam heavies, even without trying to do block resets for heavy 1, and stunlock whole groups of maulers and crushers
Slab shield my beloved
Shield's great to Crunch them all
cronch
<@&1042950387478560878> anyone up for a few games?
I'm down to run a few
me
I might be later
hi
sweats tucked into boots goes off sorry
i was forged in the fires of alternative music scenes. you would nary last a minute in the mosh pits i've circled
omw to sortie w/ the reject strike team
im very okay with that
<@&1042950387478560878> who wants that blood
👋
Finally completed my line up by getting my vet to 30, I gotta admit I've really warmed up to the class
Also drip posting
Shovel gang
Do I want to start a Zealot...
this was a good decision
the eventual drip
I must not spend on anything
for 80k more dockets
Like fuck me look at that chestpiece
I haven't been building weapons for so long I've stocked like a million and a half
23k plasteel aka one levelled and blessed weapon
Candle pauldron gang
Are y'all still playing?
@twilit cradle we're about to have a slot open if you wanted to join :0
no we're gonna play boats
<@&1042950387478560878> tide tide berhaps
give us 10 to get something to eat but we'll be on
I will be busy sorry, Lancer time all day
If I'm planning on playing a stealth melee zealot with throwing knives, what ranged weapon would be best?
Which melee weapon?
@thick rivet
The main concern, depending, is probably horde clearing and surviability
So flamer, shotgun, or an autogun probably
eh horde is fine with knife, assuming you're doing knife
if you're doing knife i'd bring a snipey ranged for dealing with people out of reach
Boltgun :3
also I've actually changed my plans
I'm being big stupid and going fully right tree except
for my ability
gonna do the augmented charge
I run a boltgun with heavy sword personally
I want something which cracks armor
i may hop on later but take that w a grain of salt
had some plans cancelled on me last minute which sux But if i get over myself i may dark my tide
The zarona carbine is very cursed I kinda love it
if you do ping us we wanna play with you you're so cool
[Reply to:](#1159883850562932826 message) had some plans cancelled on me last minute which sux But if i get over myself i may dark my tide
I’d also be down
only 15k dockets from achieving my drip...
i forget which shotgun has the slugs?
It's the Agripinaa shotgun
Kantrael has the fire shells, Lawbringer has the duckbill shot
<@&1042950387478560878> tide tide?
I can tide in a couple minutes if y’all still have room
I have achieved the drip, finally
lol
Might consider fitting in the undying talents if you're going charge
Since you no longer have stealth as an "oh fuck" button
where're those located?
Left side, I forget where
Near the charge ult tho I think
Charge is for front lining so being able to shrug off crusher hits helps a lot
Incredibly powerful
@olive tusk cmoooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
I love Ogryns so much
oh you mean until death and holy revenant
is there a fix for mouse sensitivity randomly increasing btw?
SHIT
@twilit cradle i did not realise i have a 9am class tomorrow
i may not be able to hop on i am very sorry,,
I have made my zealot look like a child of atom
The eviscerator turns on my monkey brain
us tbh
It really do scratch the squishy parts of the brain
I love playing a peasant who hears voices in her head sawing gunners in half with a chainsword taller than she is
i do love the eviscerator, though sometimes i feel like i struggle with the big armored bois en mass
where with the ironhelm
i can sort of manage them
with knockdown and swing through
armored bois in crowds too, can be an annoyance for my evis
This is why I have a revolver for those armored specials
or a friendly vet
or a throwing knife
Yeah the Eviscerator is a little slow vs a 6 crusher or Mauler pack so a armor punching gun is real useful
I may need to pick up a bolter again but I'd need to adjust my playstyle appropriately
I can't just whip it out on a crusher
If running Charge then a revved up Eviscerator wins 1v1s handily
I need to see the crusher first
Kill crushers
oh I run charge
Charge into hipfire bolter as you run is peak 40k
I mean yeah
The problem is a bolter is
a bolter
aka an automatic rocket launcher
which takes forever to get out of your pocket lmao
I wish we had the smaller caliber bolt pistol that like
commissars and shit use
Sounds like you're not dodging or face tanking hits enough lol
Simply scream angrily while whipping that shit out on their face and get the juicy proximity ranged damage buff talent

And watch cringe armor boys disappear under automatic bolter fire
Or conversely run hammer bonk and flamer
And just bonk cringe armor bois
I may try that club but idk if I wanna use the actual hammer
The club is like the place between evis and bonk imo
I suppose
It's not gold or whatever, it's a military drab colored powered bonking stick x3
My inner warpriest simp always likes a good hammer priest
That's drab not grungy
Also man you are determined to look like a fallout character huh lol
pfffff
But also I'm the one that calls emp boring for not using a hammer
I can agree with that tbh
Imagine not using a hammer as the big important person in a setting called warhammer smh
Also it's funny to uber bonk stuff tbh
Just no horny meme the ogryn
I do like the maul though
Just baseline its sorta visually dull to me
Great for bullying berserks though lol
oh right does anyone know if bosses have a hard limit on how much damage they can take or how much bonus damage can be accrued?
I got a buddy running stealth big bonk crucis hammer
combo'd with veteran bonus spot, ogryn bonus to heavy melee, and a number of other satellite bonuses
and it almost always seems to leave a boss at around 1/5 or 1/6th hp on heresy and damnation
seems to be able to one shot a boss on malice or lower though
I don’t think there are hard limits but because of limits on how much damage can be dealt and shields going up really fast with burst there’s soft limits
I think it used to be possible to 1 shot captains on damnation with the funny stealth hammer trick but that got hit pretty hard
I crave more balance, the funny big boy bonk build is very cool. Buuuuut, I crave more bulwark and crusher removal.
I've been playing with this idea the last few days and haven't found the right gun to test it with. Is the Shredder any good? I never see them used. And the only time I used one was when I first started playing zealot and I was horribly unimpressed. I can see it being an incredible horde clear weapon on weapons specialist. Especially if the draw speed is like the revolver.
The brain worms are telling me to try it again
the autopistol? Generally you have people either loving them or considering them bottom tier trash
I think they're, personally, workable but not very good on account of really low effective range
they are decent for hosing things down if you got good blessings/talents that synergize
Shredder is funny with charge and solid for vet but it’s such a short ranged weapon it’s hard to justify using that often imo
Thats what I figured. Especially with how much removal you get from just blastin with the revolver
Thats too bad, I really think it could be a solid bullet hose if it had more punch through
i kinda wish it had the burn blessing lol
The braced autoguns are basically that if you want a shredder with more punch through
you can stack stupid amounts of brittleness iirc, on the right side vet tree
but yeah shredder is a bit of an underperformer imo
Hopefully it gets a tweak, I don't really even know why I'm complaining the lasguns and autoguns don't come out that slow.
I guess I just think it's neat.
I think it’s perfectly serviceable but I don’t like carrying a ranged weapon which isn’t terribly long ranged most of the time
I've been running into this issue with the Agripinaa revolver, at distance it makes me sad. But melting every special other than snipers makes up for it.
yeah i think my gripe is mostly the inability to use the autopistol efficiently at mid range very much
i think its fine to like faste draw speed, its one of hte niche's for pistols tbh
getting em out faster
Which feels incredible on weapons specialist, I love that whole tree honestly.
Even smoke grenades (even tho someone in here said they should be able to put out fires and now I can't stop thinking about that and it makes me angry they don't)
But swapping weapons lately has been my jam, I've been really focusing on expanding my melee weapons collection past ✨ shovel ✨
The thing that trips be up the most on weapon specialist is swapping not at need, and blowing the stacks on nothing
I know what you mean, I've felt that have a ranged option with a deep mag helps with that a lot. So when you do have to swap to melee it's because the horde is on top of you
Honestly I've found it the other way around, weapon specialist being served as primarily melee
Particularly since you only need 1 ranged kill for the full melee buff, but 10 for the ranged one
It encourages hotswapping to a strong melee, and having a ranged with a quick pullout to maximise how long you have the buff
Huh, that makes sense. I've been using it with an infantry las and shovel for super easy wave clear and ice picking crushers or maulers when they show up
Trying zealot bolter again
It always saddens me that the bolter has limited synergy because of its immense draw time
Meanwhile plasma works great
Cause it loads the plasma, and the plasma comes out real quick
So I always have a buffed full charge heavy melee attack when I need it, and then wave clear a little then create some distance for myself, and spam click until everything is dead
okay still kinda hate it
Plasma works okay with weapon specialist but I personally go with a laspistol
You truly are cowgirl brained
Out here like "I can't quick draw this is problematic"
my usual go to is the revolver on wep specialist cause getting a shot loaded frequently rocks
makes snap shots a bit easier
Laspistol feels incredible on weapons specialist, I'm just holding out for one of quality outside of malice runs.
what i lke about the plasma is that it loads it, considering plasma's incredible reload speed thats a plus; and plasma is effectively perfectly accurate on every shot, even hip
and it draws quick
Yes it's almost like a weapon I can't draw quickly is a problem when what I need for that slot is a quick weapon!
X3
But revolver makes too much sense I agree.
i tried running the mk1 helbore again recently, just couldnt get on board with it lol
the toggle on draw is a huge pain in my ass
Ya that handling whiplash swapping from a autogun/lasgun/pistol/revolver to a boltgun is hellish
Weapon mod fixed my big issue! Buuut I'm still trying to wrap my head around the charge shot.
So I haven't left malice with it yet
In what sense?
Reddot
Finally, I can see
Or the charge mechanic? I dunno lasgun brain rot has me spam clicking. So now holding to charge shots feels weird. And I feel like I'm not getting kills as efficiently.
That minuet delay is messing with me
i find often time being able to shoot twice is more valuable to me than shooting a shot thats more powerful
when im fishing for headshots n stuff
I like the charge up because I can adjust aim in that split second
There's a lot of value in shooting more for sure
Simply unga swap in front of big thing and juice it smh
One of the Lucius secrets is that you don't need to charge for anything smaller than an elite or special
Just volley headshots into shooters
for me one major plus for the helbore is the punch through on charged shots
letting you lance through dense crowds or when you are firing at the bottom of an poxwalker waterfall
Maybe I’m just built different but those are my 2 fav human ranged weapons I go back and forth between all the time
Now that fatshork gave buffed the bayonet attacks for ranger weapons with melee attacks next we need melee weapons with a ranged attack
