The Fan Revolver is really cool but I'm struggling to use it over the accurate friend
my knee jerk thought on its role is a fast draw rager blaster
it's good at blasting ragers, it's good at running and gunning
but the normal one also kills Ragers, often with less ammo
but the trade off is ammo for time
i think the dissonance really comes from like... its not a smaller version of the normal revolver
it fills a different role
and I've expressed my feels on that lol
it is, however, very funny and cool to dump a cylinder into a rager
oh also holding fan stance charges up surgical
so you can get some mondo crit setups

Maybe that's it, it takes off a lot harder with perk setups
I don't have a perfect one so it just feels like more bullets for similar results
there's been some posts of using trickshooter+hand cannon+crit talents to just vaporize anything
i think my biggest interests rn is doing some runs with the shovel, and also crafting and making some of the new chainaxes
that new evis is on my radar too
the shovel is extremely good
Shovels feel great, new knife feels great
the vet shovel can also one-shot crushers with the right setup
But the special attack is the stab, and they buffed that this patch
inch resting
So it kind of just feels better
reports are that it's probably better than original stab
since it fixes the horde clear issues and you don't lose that much single target
Also most importantly: fun inspect animation
new chainsword is apparently worse, but I haven't had a chance to try it
something about moveset
same with new chainaxe
hmm, worse like way worse, or worse like "its worse by degrees"
according to the people i play with the moveset is more awkward

I don't think anything is like unviable
but that may also be playstyle bias
probably worth giving a twirl if i can make a good one either way id imagine
the new chainaxe similar to a lot of the other new ones reverses the attacks
so lights for horde clear, heavies for strikedown
no, it's a full reversal

if you want tips on new revolver I have been running it on damnation and fragging
imo you think about it like a bolter with less panic button potential but far more flexibility with quickswaps

Ime it lost almost no single target in practical play and in the meat grinder I can hit the same/similar numbers
I think people are struggling to get the heavies to pop off because the targeting is very slightly different but hitting punch-light spam, it's basically the same numbers
And yes the new knife cleaves real good
My old knife had uncanny 4 mercy 4 and my new one runs uncanny 4 mercy 3, slightly different stat spread
In spite of the blessing tier difference it's like I said, kills single targets good as hell still
sudden rager/mauler hordes, ogryn, and big swamps of ranged dudes where you can overpen and score multikills
if youve ever wanted an aim trainer in darktide
you can do a pretty good kovacs impression
I think trickshooter is probably gonna be the crucian/surgical replacement for the fanning revolver
alongside hand cannon because hand cannon is basically the infernus of revolvers
Trickshooter is the last blessing I need for revolver and it eludes me
but the perk that gives +crit for melee kills isn't half bad either especially since it's online for the full fan

Last night my friend messaged me about getting mercy 4 on the first level 30 knife bcuz they knew I spent like 50 blues to get it
and swapping from power sword swish swish to last-wording a crusher feels soooo gooood
reposting because this is the kind of shit you can do on a 6/10 roll
mine has a poor crit modifier but with HC4 and an Exec Stance/Marksman's Focus build it one or two shots pretty much everything, it's fun
maybe that's my problem
i don't have hand cannon so it doesn't twoshot fuckin anything
every video i see of this thing is so unlike how it feels in practice
that reload speed is a huge plus tbh
it is real rough to play either revolver without hand cannon especially post- the nerf to its inherent AP
not being able to aim for head on ragers and maulers is an oof
the nerf i feel was entirely called for tbh, it was hella over performing

I think without hand cannon you're just better off with the regular revolver, and leaning into its use as a ranged enemy destroyer moreso than the pocket bolter
yeah i was thinking like without specialist set up its still a great tool for droppin specialists and elites
it still reliably pops anything short of a mauler
just stops being the one stop shop for crushers and maulers
the extra versatility from being able to take a gunner's skull instantly is excellent
and the new melee weapons add lots of great options for removing maulers and crushers from your life
I think another part of my reasoning is like
extremely rapidly
People love carrying stuff to deal with maulers and crushers
and the regular revolver just lets you do that from further out
But rarely is everyone on top of Gunnerx100
i think they have a new rager-pack or something in this update
they have been up in droves
ragers are a lil easier to kill now
though i havent actualyl noticed
but they do have less hp
tbf to the change ive been running shield bleed ogryn
so everything dies at roughly the same rate
i just keep stacking more bleed
my most recent build is pretty good at dealing with maulers
so i havent had a lot of trouble with em, but boi my lasgun doesnt like them
mostly because I play weapons with really chunky ttk unaffected by a 200 hp change, or ones where I'm not counting bullets anyway like the columnus
I just run at them really fast but when I gave this advice on the forums people thought I was trolling

it makes them stop
they telegraph their salvos, I hit dodge slide and get into melee range before they get a second chance
i go invisible and brrrr them in the back

when they decide to drop guns and start shovelling is beyond me
Oh shotgunners are nothing
sometimes they'll react to me swinging and other times I just get ganglanded by a gatling gun
They have like. Centuries between shots
Entire civilizations are born and die between shots
gunners never drop their guns
they just kick you and run off
only regular shooters will swap
They'll stab you with the bayonet sometimes
Snipers will attempt their shot at such close ranges, gotta hand it to 'em
But you can get a pack of gunners into stunlock p easy if you close distance
sniper you have to be practically on top of before they'll do the sniper kick
Snipers have a kick too lol
regular shooters I'm mostly okay with
having to run the zealot ferry with the magic I to get people across a full civil war reenactment I am much less so
part of why I basically always have frags on nowadays are for those exact situations
And now all builds can actually get regenerating nades again, lol

stun grenades are basically the "everyone is dead" button

if the ogryn frag were any bigger, it'd start deleting texture maps off of objects too

i have noticed a friend of mine, the zealot and I, will sometimes think the sme thing, they throw a flame nade and i throw a ogryn frag
and im just like "sry i just thought we needed the space"

There's a little steel skull at the top of the handle
if there are not enough skulls on your shovel, the purpose of the special is to put one on there

Combos I'm finding:
- heavy > light > heavy > light as the base horde clear, standard, but!
- light1 > heavy is two vertical shots combo for single target, so you can
- heavy > light > (loop) > light light light > heavy to convert from horde clear into single target, which will flow from heavy > light sweep into one sweep, two light vertical headshots and then the heavy vertical
- rev > light1 > heavy is the new evis heavy spam but a bit faster and you can flow from this into a loop into itself or
- rev > light1 > heavy > light light light > heavy to lay on a fast string of overheads, on a single target it juices up Shred blessings from a standstill to feed crits
like the new evis is fun but I'm capital-u Understanding the old evis now and it rules
like these modules all flow into each other
yeah combo stuff like that is how you get Maximum Fun out of some of the weapons
the ogryn bonk sticks for example all have an optimal combo flow for crowds and a different one for single targets
I got the new evis and was like oh this is cool, but what did one person mean by "simplifed?" and now I'm like, oooooooooh.
mk1 bully club is light-heavy-light for crowds, and Heavy-Light-light-Heavy for single targets
while mk3 is light light light for crowds and push attack light for single targets
Yeah I'm a big Executioner Sword fan
And the new Evis is just a slightly tweaked Exe Sword

One thing I really enjoy about Darktide maps is that they’re careful to use a lot of obscure old modeled terrain parts from 40K which gives it a very authentic feeling

I had a very bizarre bug yesterday: I had chosen a particular loadout, but my ranged weapon (a braced autogun) was swapped with a plasma gun. Everything else was the same
it did make me wonder if I was an idiot and took krak grenades with a plasma loadout lol
One of my greatest joys, and it really shouldn't be, but my greatest joy is just getting a stim and injecting it into my party members in quick match. Just "oh look a horde" and then I jam a combat stim into the zealot.
I must admit I do that with every stim that isn't Med Stim, the objective best Stim

I do it with med stims sometime
but that's only if it can actually be used

i haven't found a specific trigger but it seems to swap your build but fail to swap your weapons
I'm seeing a slight error when I use plasma. Sometimes there's no muzzle flash or projectile but the enemy will go down like it hit.

I was listening to psychedelic bullet hell breakcore whilst doing an auric run with friends yesterday
It was fun
I think I've come up with a really potent Gun Psyker that balances Damage and Toughness regen with an emphasis on dodging. Feels like it hits the right spot of moving fast, hard hitting Crit laden Assail, with just enough Toughness as a screw up buffer.

I feel that the combat stim stops too quickly for the size of the hordes you get
Psyker’s Brain Burst and Psyker Staves. The speed of which the Psyker’s Smite propagates between enemies. Speed of which the Psyker can throw Shards using Assail. Speed of which the Psyker Quells their Peril.

red is also good for psyker (perils generation reduction)

I think yellow is only good for psyker if you're crazy aggro and using venting shriek
a 354 grey version is pretty much straight outperforming my godrolled MkII

It's pushing for toughness regens that emphasize attacking rather then quelling, and then leaning more on the gun part.

You can lock the John Bloodbourne into doing kicks instead of shooting the plasma gun by staying close and circle strafing

on what level should i be ready for heresy missions?
10's good enough for malice comfortably, and I'd say 20-25 can do Heresy if you know what you're doing on high intensity Malice
I think doing it before 30 is dicey but if you have a capstone you should be good
I don't know shit about how it is now but I used to feel ok on Heresy between 15 and 20

I could see someone with augments working pretty well with some sort of fluff
And one tree could totally have a buddy/minion. Servo skull that scans rooms, restarts interrogators for you, if you look long enough at an area it could ping specials over there for you. Especially if they're behind half cover and you'd ping "go there" like 8 times trying to get a punk sniper.
I do think mechanically the missing archetype is a minionmancer of some type

I feel like it makes sense they'd try to send us in as clean up detail for an oopsy. The rejects probably wouldn't even know what they're looking at when they find it.

3 phase boss fight Twins, Twins and Wolfer once the twins die just Wolfer who bails at low health or "dies" but small cut scene plays showing him twitch and begins to daemonize. That's my guess.
So then maybe a O&S style fight when one of the twins drops the other becomes way more hellish?

New Weapon Takes:
- Chainaxe: Hilarious that the Light Attack Flak modifier is so high, might be better than the old one? Definitely better single target
- Chainsword: Weird lil guy, haven't used it but the attack patterns are very odd
- Ogryn Shovels: Might be new meta, Ogryn getting a true anti-armour melee weapon is huge (can one-shot Crushers with the correct setup)
- Veteran Shovels: I respect anyone who uses these, and the anti-armour capability is great, but the range is so rough
- Eviscerator: It's literally the VT2 Executioner Sword and that fucks actually
- Revolver: I'm not sure it's better than the old Revolver in any particular aspect but it's really fun to use and I'm here for it
My take on the chainaxe is that the equivalent Eviscerator is just better, but the attack patterns are good
I mean Vet can take it too
Might have a place there then, as something that can chunk armour for an autogun build
Yeah I think it's got a distinct place on a Weapon Specialist build
My new weapon takes:
Shovel zealot is the best class
The new assault chain axe is kind of great to have as a vet, to be able to easily melee crushers
Without krak
Costs you a lot of crowd management though
If you aren't taking kraks you could just have your crowd management be an infinite supply of frag grenades
you can actually one shot a crusher with vet chainaxe, even without right side tree
just need the bleed stacks blessing
and possibly anti carapace
its a dirty one shjot
Thunderous (brittleness on hit) and Thrust (big heavies) is what I use as general purpose on the new chainaxe
Trying to evaluate which of these new chainswords is better on base stats for upgrading, anyone have any suggestions? I'm leaning towards the blue one but maxed cleave is giving me pause
If you get one big cleave blessing, either will have more than enough cleave for most purposes

I might be entirely wrong, but I feel like if I NEED something armoured to die I just hit the rev button. Pen seems like the least bad dump stat here

This is a real solid base, for 300 plasteel more you can replace the Stamina with Flak damage or weak spot damage and can put any rank 4 blessing over the rank 2 and it'll carry you a long time

ogryn can absolutely carry one, but apparently its either too complex of a weapon or too valuable of a weapon to hand them to ogryns militarily
i think ogryns working for wealthy benefactors independently may have access if they wanted
or if provided
good thing our rejects fit the bill
there's a lot of potential for cool ogryn weapons
