Its maybe his largest single parallel to Noelle in that route, that they both just completely accept strength (in a 'ability to force people to do things / do violence') way, is the most important thing.

This is a very unorganized 5 am thought but its fascinating like. How frequently toby writes about sexism and misogyny but its often done so tastefully and subtly that you don’t ever really notice it, but it’s still so so there. Like I think people view utdr as a series that doesnt have that kind of bigotry when it _really really_​ does but its just. Written well.

Like. On a surface level, theres characters who are like. A caricature of a misogynist, like Aaron. He’s a buff guy who tells women they’d be cuter if they smiled and objectifies them. He’s meant to be a joke. And meant to make you go “ew fuck this guy” y’know? Then theres things that’re a little less surface level, like a character we can like who has a little more depth but a massive trait of his is objectifying women, like Cap’n. Everyone understands, at first, but then he keeps going, and keeps coming home late, and keep getting in fights. And eventually, it’s to much. He sleeps on the couch one night. He moves into his store the next. 

Fast forward, and you’re in the cyber world. Just like she planned it. You just gotta keep going, yah it sucks with this thing in you, but it’s gonna be worth it. Anything will be worth it. Her sister is here too. And, it’s almost like she doesn’t hate you for what you did. She’s friendly with you. Eventually however, you do gotta join together. You’re away from Susie and Ralsei and it wouldn’t be the worst thing to be with her again, even if it’s under bad circumstances.

We kinda move past it but it’s weird it’s him who’s so far the biggest victim of the weird route right?

And I just realized, if I’m right and the weird route is about returning the world to “how it should be” without Dess’s disappearance, then of course berdly has to go

Honestly, it's vibes but the biggest thing that still snags me about the Knight's identity is musical. They are definitely related to Dess, and definitely related to her disappearance, but they aren't Dess enough to get any of the "Fans associate these with Dess" melodies.

Which could be a thematic "She has lost her way & herself, either literally or subsumed into this role", but there's also just enough set-up about reality vs. appearances, or living representations of characters who are gone (like Gerson), that there's just enough doubt.

Frankly, I don't see a huge difference between 'Raw Shadow formed into a vague Dess-Shape' & 'Dess-the-Girl warped into a fragmented demon creature', but I know some people might.

They're Dess but maybe some Weird Shit is also happening, idk.

There's a neatness to room_gaster & the waterfall 'your friend, with the creepy smile' being the two non-dogchecked unused rooms in Undertale. Or that 'smile.ogg' might not just be flavor, or referring to Gaster but some sort of archetypal smile-in-the-dark.
