Very likely, it seems that following the Shelter incident Kris did a total 180 in personality. I imagine that could have been why, or at least a significant contributing factor
It does make me wonder how much of what Kris does to the soul/us is out of personal spite and how much is just a venting of their personal frustrations towards themselves. If they were smacking the soul around even before we got there, I could see it.
