a lot of the weird routes time is spent making it feel 'wrong', 'unintended', and underlining that it is breaking the game / story in some fundemental way

theres a few ways you could resolve it, but weird route locking in the prophecy and normal breaking out seems like it would waste a lot of what weird route has set up

there are two broad ways that people engage with the narrative of Deltarune (no clue what the other game is. Fate? Touhou?)

1. Engaging with the story as it presents itself, and exploring the narrative and the characters by immersing yourself in the game. Basically taking the game at face value, and letting the story speak on its own terms.

2. Tear the story apart, reach into every crack you can find to search for every piece of information that exists - find out how each and every cog in the machine works. The goal of the experience is learning as much about it as humanly possible, even if that means ripping out everything inside.

yeah I watched this and while I do agree with most of this video's metatextual analysis, I think that the contents of the mystery man's dialogue isn't a solely metatextual device for Tricky Anthony to speak to the player as an easter egg. specifically the chapter 4 easter egg points towards there being a lot more happening with Kris as a character than has previously been let on

Something I noticed is works about Dess’ disappearance usually just show Kris and Dess, but I wonder if Asriel was there as well? For as much as we know about him, we also don’t really know a lot about him. Would be interesting if he’s got some greater connection or at least awareness. He’s noticeably like the only person who seems to have ever left Hometown. He’s kind of the town golden boy and could have easily coasted, seemed to excel at a lot of stuff there. Going to college sure, but I wonder if part of that was just being unable to handle living there still and needing an escape (even if he didn’t witness whatever happened to Dess)
