||Ch4 is so fucking peak that it made me cry twice after playing through it a second time, first tears of sadness learning more about The Prophecy and the burden it put on Ralsei, then absolute tears of joy getting to fight Gerson "Lord of The Hammer" Boom and how fucking beautifully he puts a spin on things||

||I also love the implication that Gerson was granted the option of more power by The Knight to become like the other secret bosses and then promptly refused to keep doing things his way instead, making him all the more stronger and truely free||

So, the chapter 3 forbidden path

||Its clearly meant to directly analogue the weird route, with you finding an ice mage which allows you to exploit the game and become stronger. It’s also described by Ramb as a game with real choices, real freedom.

This however, is kinda incongruous with the game itself. It’s just as linear as Tennas’s game, it just feels less so because we’re getting stronger. It gives us a false freedom, that with our new strength we could do anything but what the game intends.

Combined with the parts of “using up” Noelle and Kris, I think it’s reinforcing that doing the weird route is reinforcing the prophecy rather then defying it. It’s about making Noelle into the hero she was meant to be, and Kris into the vessel we were denied||
