My heart is full

stone jolt
#

I named it "LemonWasRightBoutU"

#

Hey, I found a picture of For Answer on my phone. The concept was "what if the Ecto 1 stood up?". I also really like the RGB cartoon, SO I did the equipment in blue and yellow like the proton packs in the show.

#

Funny enough, in the Ghostbusters x Transformers crossover comic, the Ecto 1 did stand up and it looked nothing like this.

wooden nimbus
#

Imagine if it did tho

hatsune mechu...

#

i really do need to get back to Gundam Wing

stone jolt
#

Anybody a Star Wars lore guy? I have a few that need explanation, and it would be really cool if someone didn't need it.

stone jolt
#

I have at least begun work on Shenlong, Altron (EW version, aka Nataku), Epyon... They are in various states of recognizability. Honestly I have only added a single search-eye decal to Epyon and I think people would already go "Oh, hey, Epyon".

stone jolt
#

I'm getting antsy. I left my PS5 at a client's house last night and I'm sitting outside of it, waiting for my shift to begin, so I can get some new pics, but honestly, they'll be on a pretty tiny screen.

#

Behold, my portable setup.

polar osprey
#

Lol

stone jolt
# polar osprey Lol

I've got one of those big AC batteries for blackouts. I was thinking about hot-gluing it to the back of this and my controller to the front and starting rumors about SONY's next be handheld system about to drop.

polar osprey
#

heh

radiant birch
stone jolt
#

Alright. I mentioned there were some smallish details one wouldn't be able to see while she quick-boosts around.

#

Those red pips mean 181.
The Aurebesh on the back reads "181st TIE Intercepter Squadron"

The word Intercepter is pretty long in Aurebesh so I separated it into two decals and filled space with a little graphic.

#

This is machine is called There is Only Passion. More Star Wars. This one is loaded down with just about every piece of Sith iconography recognized in star wars. (Minus the bogan mandala and the four-pointed power symbol. Those are coming.). Actually, there are three Sith languages codified in Star Wars. I only used Ur-Kittât and Aurebesh. There really is more to add.

stone jolt
radiant birch
#

i am loving the sith tattoo hello kitty face

stone jolt
stone jolt
#

I've got a good amount more, but at this point I've gotten that feeling that I'm just shouting for attention into the vast emptiness of the internet. Anybody else got creative ACs?

eager vector
#

Fantastic decal work but i think it’s good to exercise a lot of moderation when it comes to fictional fascist iconography

#

I haven’t done much heavy decal work but this is my take on an AC6 Gundam (not a specific one)

stone jolt
#

Giving me more than a good chuckle.

eager vector
#

these are my best looking designs

stone jolt
stone jolt
eager vector
#

I was aiming for a sort of middle ground between Wing Gundam and Gundam Aerial

stone jolt
#

Not familiar with the second. But, like you, the first Gundam I did -in the 6th generation- was just a treaties on Gundam aesthetics more than representative of an actual mobile suit.

stone jolt
#

Made this decal for it, because I felt it looked more like a gunpla than a suit from the show. Never wound up putting it on. Maybe today?

eager vector
#

Is this on PS?

stone jolt
eager vector
#

I’d love to see your decal collection and get some share codes

stone jolt
#

Then I made this, to explain how third-act Gundam upgrades go.

#

Funny thing. See how it's overburdened? The big laser canon can only be fired 8 times before it auto purges. Once it drops it, it falls perfectly into the boosters' optimized "ideal load" range and it moves beautifully.

#

Before that it's kinda clunky, tho.

polar osprey
#

that's pretty sweet

stone jolt
#

I made a Mattel logo and several Barbie logos because I wanted to make a Ken doll

#

I wanted to make an AC titled "SonOfAShepherd" and made up these. It would have switched between pile bunker and chainsaw.

eager vector
#

@stone jolt the ones I’m most interested in are like, greebly decals that make builds look more realistic

stone jolt
#

Oh, I made like a dozen or so of those for the Gundam ones specifically.

#

I have a user profile dedicated to Big flat shapes for color blocking.

#

Hey, need a circle?

polar osprey
#

this is my personal AC, Pale Painter Ruber

#

some of my favourites that i went more detailed on, Nuclear Whiplash, Aperture Momentum and Detonation Derby

stone jolt
#

That's really cool. Damn. I love it.

I haven't gotten to my signature ACs yet. The recognizable ones are just so much more engaging.

#

Stunning.

polar osprey
#

this is the original Pale Painter for reference

#

i did a Ortus thing with it for the final boss and made it into the Ruber

stone jolt
#

Is it thematic to your Pilot name?

polar osprey
#

nah it's moreso thematic with the color scheme

#

though it does somewhat fit me

stone jolt
#

Rubber? I have to look that up, don't I?

polar osprey
#

nah Ruber

#

it means Red

#

latin

#

cause of the coral etched onto the right side

stone jolt
#

Hmm. I am a student of many languages (more than half from Star Wars). Thanks for that.

polar osprey
#

👍

stone jolt
#

So I made an AC called THE BAGEL STRETCHER. It uses double Morleys.

People kept asking me what the name meant and why I call it that. To illustrate I made a series of decals.

#

Still working on this. Iykyk.

#

Wanted to make Zords, but the ability to do so yet eludes me in Armored Core games. Wound up making decals for Rangers instead. Not satisfied enough to post the actual ACs yet.

#

I have never taken so much time on a pattern Ryan making body hair decals for my tan-lines sporting AC, THE SLAMULATOR.

stone jolt
polar osprey

Yeah

stone jolt

Mm.

polar osprey
#

Play all my games on pc really

#

I have a ps4 controller and a 8bitdo adapter to connect it wirelessly

stone jolt
#

Interesting.

stone jolt
#

Alright. Here are a few custom interpretations of mechs you may know.

#

This is my custom Loader 4.

patent oyster
#

Oh thats dope

stone jolt
#

As you can see, the starboard side is painted up with streak graphics, while the rest of it is minimalist aside from some of those what'd you call 'em? Greebly decals?

stone jolt
#

This one I've been calling "Borrowed Wings". Not super original. Not sure where I'm going with it. As you can see, the port side is inundated with Ravens.

#

These next few are completely original mechs. Do not steal.

#

The Brown Glint Mk II, and 9-Rectangular Prism.

modern whale
#

IGUAZU 2????

#

Or I mean, I guess Punished Dafeng Student Pilot would be a mix of Iguazu (Guy you dunked on insane style) and Raven (Guy who's active/planned callsign you stole)

wooden nimbus
#

All he wanted was a callsign of his own

stone jolt
#

That guy who was probably being called Gun 13 right before you ended his career.

stone jolt
#

This guy. Who I expect was refered to as Gun 13 by the Red Guns as the time of his unfortunate encounter with RB-23 C4-621 "Raven"

halcyon gull
#

I gotta say, there's an entire disk 3 for the soundtrack and man they hit hard.

serene kettle
#

I wasn't that impressed by it tbh. I like the originals more than most of the new mixes and the original compositions didn't leave much of an impression on me

#

C4-621 has a really nice build though

serene kettle
#

I'm struggling to enunciate what bothers me so much about the new mixes. They're technically cool and there are flourishes I like but it just feels like they're missing something. Like, Stain -Final Version- lost all the cool whispered menace of the original and especially A Perfect Day versions. It's trying to do something different and at least for me it's not really landing.

#

(I am biased though because A Perfect Day is one of my favorites. Whispered hatred and muffled screaming, mmmm)

patent oyster
polar osprey
#

I'm warming up to Steel Haze (where truths meet) though i didn't like it originally, but i still don't much like Rough and Decent (Natural Behaviour)

#

I still think both of them kinda go too hard on doing something new that it kinda tramples over the themeing of the original versions of the song, though i like Steel Haze (where truths meet) a lot more after listening to it for a bit

past silo
#

rough and decent original is my firm fave from the OST

polar osprey
#

I'm big on Steel Haze (Rusted Pride) but Rough and Decent and Rough and Decent (Bad Joke) are top tier

serene kettle
#

Yeah I really appreciate the original Rough and Decent, along with Contact with You and C-Weapon as really strong entries. My sleeper choice is Clockwork Hostility, which generally fits into the mold of being a sort of industrial ambience like much of the soundtrack, but I think does something interesting with it in functioning as a leitmotif for an enemy lurking in the shadows. It comes up again and again without the pattern being totally clear until you piece together that ALLMIND's behind everything, and then it leads into the actual ALLMIND final boss theme

#

as a sidenote, it's so fucked up that they squeezed distorted bits of shape memory alloys and 9 into the ALLMIND boss music

patent oyster
boreal frost
#

Just started playing AC6 for the first time over the weekend
Started out playing a tetrapod once I discovered I could fire a charged Curtis without being locked in place
After struggling to fight a boss with low mobility, I built a Schneider reverse-joint speedster
Almost at the end of Chapter 3, they hand me the Schneider tetrapod legs

#

"Wait I can be a speedster and have the recoil control of a tetrapod?"
Guess I'm piloting a Juggernaut now. Strap me into this aluminum coffin.

stone jolt
#

For me, I feel pretty weird without my Kikaku boosters, my SanTai generator, and Basho arms.

boreal frost
#

I got addicted to the speed
Balteus filtered me and I kept trying to go back to the heavy tetrapod build but it never felt as good as the speed demon during arena/boss fights

#

My tetrapod just couldn't keep up with dodging Balty's patterns, and the only anti-shield solutions I had were close range

cursive agate
#

It's a very facetanking fight for slower builds

boreal frost
#

You don't need armor if you don't get hit blobrollsafe

#

One hit later [ CAUTION ] [ Possible concussion ] [ Possible blunt trauma ] [ Extreme Damage ]

serene kettle
#

I was addicted to Kikaku Boosters and the pulse blade on my first playthrough. Feels great even when it’s not actually good

boreal frost
#

Still working out my exact light tetrapod build
But my light reverse joint rocked dual Ludlow SMGs, the initial light rocket pod, and the pilebunker for chunking HP on stagger

radiant birch
#

It's wild to think that the game launched without the Lamm legs. They've become so iconic (for good and for ill)

#

I tend to hover around midweight for PVE but with the latest patch I seem to be getting a taste for lightweight PVP builds

#

Maybe the AP buffs must make it feel less like you're made of tissue paper

patent oyster
boreal frost
#

I know nothing of the PVP
I saw light tetrapod
Thought turning my heavier tetrapod design into a speedy lightweight was cool
And then upon purchasing the legs finding out they just transformed into a jet? 10/10

radiant birch
#

It's pretty sick yeah

#

I love the Lamm legs, I remember being kind of disgruntled that there was no mid/lightweight tetrapod option in the base game

#

They granted that wish handily

#

I have run into one or two skybox kites in PVP, but I just kinda take it for granted that there are going to be obnoxious builds in PVP

radiant birch
#

Like nothing will compare to that one "if I ACS break you once you're dead" stunlock build I ran into a while back

boreal frost
#

Red thrusters pretty but I can't get used to the performance of this small coral generator

#

Sit around and do nothing for like 5 seconds before getting power back
Or run your power dry, and feel exposed and in danger for like 3 seconds, then have all your power back

stone jolt
radiant birch
#

Yeah I find coral generators hard to use, which is a shame bc as you say the aesthetics are impeccable

stone jolt
cursive agate
#

the smaller coral generator struggles with the lower capacity factor

#

I tend to take VP-20C instead for comparable post-recharge supply, I guess Yaba could work too with lower EN Load builds.

stone jolt
#

My Sith mech, of course uses it... a few flight experiments...

radiant birch
#

Ayre: "they were using Coral... as fuel..."
621: sweats

stone jolt
#

Haha.

#

That's good.

#

It wasn't until THIS week, that I ever tried the WLT rifle.

boreal frost
#

I'm right near the end of Chapter 3... before Ice Worm

It was funny my first mission with the light tetrapod legs was the one where they introduced the worm

Seemed like there was supposed to be a whole segment of trying to survive the worm attack

#

I just chilled in the sky watching the destruction unfold

stone jolt
#

Attack the old spaceport. I make my friends do speed challenges of that one.

boreal frost
#

"Good thing I'm not down there, that seems dangerous"

stone jolt
#

There's lots of places the owrm just doesn't go on it's pattern. The whole ice shelf you start the mission on? untouched.

#

I like waiting it out on top of the exhaust tower it destroys late in its cycle. If oyu lock to it, it will follow the Worm's head until the tower is destroyed, at which time I just fly away.

radiant birch
#

"damn that's crazy. anyway"

#

Rusty's fighting for his life and you're just there chilling eating chips in your cockpit

boreal frost
#

I think Rusty had already dipped for me

stone jolt
boreal frost
#

He said he was peacing out right before I got the other PCA guy

stone jolt
boreal frost
#

Took a hit or something

#

I wonder if that meant Rusty "died" as far as a plot armor NPC can die

stone jolt
#

Between takeing out the PCA enforcers and the IA-02 bursting out of the ground up close, Rusty doesn't move.

stone jolt
#

You're up in the sky, you'd see a fragment of his core block shoot up next to you and deploy a parachute.

boreal frost
#

Hey buddy, need a lift?

stone jolt
#

It's funny. I mentioned I make my friends do certain missions with certain builds as challenges? No two of us use the same control scheme. Anybody here use the default controls?

boreal frost
#

I haven't bothered changing them, outside additonally binding back weapons to mouse side buttons
To my detriment

#

Helldivers has made "press V" my panic response to damage

#

takes a hit
OH SHIT
Scans

stone jolt
#

Welp, when mouse and keyboard come into the discussion, I cannot follow.

boreal frost
#

Wait not that one
presses C to repair

stone jolt
#

That does give me some insight, tho.

#

SO, I"m on PS5, and I always play high-speed ACs, so I changed my control scheme to be more like ACFA.

boreal frost
#

I tried controller for a bit
Ended up preferring the snappiness of WASD for quick movement changes and the speed and accuracy of mouse aim

stone jolt
#

LT: boost/ascend RT:QB

#

I'm sure.

#

I have an idea of how to make a more accurate 9-Ball emblem. gotta give it a go later.

cursive agate
boreal frost
#

Mouse lockon is... annoying
Easy to break the lockon
My mouse is super sensitive (it will wake my PC from "movement" while sitting still)
And the game breaks the lock if the mouse moves

river junco
#

Yeah you might just have to play on controller then

patent oyster
#

Anyways, hope you enjoy the rest of the game! If you need any help, feel free to ask

boreal frost
#

Nah I just don't use hardlock

#

Flick mouse like crazy while doing max speed CQB

#

Only bites me when I lose my own tracking of the target, which hasn't happened too much on the smaller AC bosses yet

serene kettle
#

ngl I didn't know hardlock was a thing until about halfway through chapter 3

#

a couple of the lategame bosses are really tough to track without using it though

patent oyster
#

I beat ||ayre|| without hardlock, never again though

patent oyster
#

Freya, your episode is up this friday btw

#

Just finished re recording

stone jolt
eager vector
#

Check this out

polar osprey
#

the weapon colors is based on Cherenkov radiation

#

to be clear

stone jolt
#

Ah.

polar osprey
#

the blue glow in an underwater nuclear reactor

#

that's the reason all of the glowing parts on the AC are glowing the same blue

stone jolt
#

I've heard about it.

polar osprey
#

and why it's colored in the nuclear hazard sign yellow and black

#

put hazard signs all over it too

stone jolt
polar osprey
#

for an added layer of context

#

the AC is also based on NEXT's from ACFA

#

specifically the fact that they go REALLY fucking fast

#

and are super radioactive

stone jolt
polar osprey
#

Aperture Momentum is the counterpart to Nuclear Whiplash and is focused on the other part of NEXT warfare, overwhelming firepower and armor

stone jolt
#

I remember the two others for sure. Tell me more.

polar osprey
#

basically i like to think about making AC's that are interesting rather than optimal

#

so with Nuclear Whiplash, i made it as fast as physically possible

#

while still having a usable kit

stone jolt
#

I didn't know theree was a way to even do 2 Karasawas.

polar osprey
#

and with Aperture Momentum, i made it as chonky as possible and put the biggest guns i could on it

#

every aspect of it is pretty much entirely maxed out

#

you can't switch anything except the head basically for the body

#

and the FCS i suppose

stone jolt
#

I love suboptimal, fun ACs.

I wish to DEATH AC6 would introduce a multiplayer PAGENT mode.

patent oyster
#

I find that i really enjoy doing fashioncore stuff for other people

polar osprey
#

nice

stone jolt
#

No kidding.

#

It really shows.

boreal frost
eager vector
boreal frost
#

Ah. Those were part of how I cleared that fight my first time

eager vector
#

Zimm is more popular, but they don’t have the right reload speed to match the LCS rhythm

boreal frost
#

That and the handheld pulse guns. Ultra light reverse joint mech with two haldies with two of the pulse gun on my back to swap to for breaking the shield

eager vector
#

Yup that’s exactly how I did it

boreal frost
#

Felt silly packing 4 handheld weapons

serene kettle
boreal frost
#

But it worked.

polar osprey
#

and shields exist

#

ammo was a bit of a premium

serene kettle
#

I've beaten almost every major boss with the chainsaw meme build

#

the one exception is ||Snailteus|| and not for reasons that felt fair, it's just a total crapshoot if the chainsaw hitbox connects or completely whiffs

boreal frost
#

Man whatshisface with the flamethrower and chainsaw
Got so mad when I got the stagger, went to pilebunker, and instead got an uno reverse as I got chainsaw'd from 100 -> 0
Didn't even know he had a chainsaw until that moment

#

Not that I could see much of anything behind the flames

serene kettle
#

lol

#

yeah chainsaw is among the worst weapons in the game but it does do roughly a bajillion damage when it connects vs a staggered target

polar osprey
#

i don't really use melee personally

#

but it can go pretty hard

boreal frost
#

Given I was in my glass cannon of a Rusty knock-off
I don't think I even needed to get staggered for the chainsaw to end me

polar osprey
#

Nuclear Whiplash is funny cause it has no fucking armor and also does absolutely no damage

#

all it has is stagger and the shank

#

absolutely awful setup for actually fighting anything but it's REALLY fucking fast

serene kettle
#

"Take the Uninhabited Floating City" and "Destroy the Drive Block" are the only endgame missions I haven't been able to successfully beat with Lumberjack

#

And I really tried with the latter

boreal frost
#

I just like keeping any melee weapon on my left shoulder because it's so satisfying to melee a broken enemy
And a pilebunker absolutely chunks bosses

serene kettle
#

the former is, uh, probably impossible with that setup though

#

or close to it

#

oh, the bunker is extremely good

#

I don't really love it but it's strong af

boreal frost
#

It's uncharged attack also hits like... a smaller truck

#

Enough for me to be happy using it uncharged for the lunge

serene kettle
#

the real super technique is learning to melee cancel with the pulse blade

#

gets you the lunge but you cancel the actual followthrough attack to avoid putting it on cooldown

#

pure lunge movement tech

boreal frost
#

I'll add that to the list of "things I have learned"
1: Shoot it till it dies
2: Don't get hit
3: Cancel melee lunge for movement tech

polar osprey
#

i'm the ultimate cavewoman when it comes to tech in this game

#

i literally use machine guns so i can hold down the triggers

#

it works tho

boreal frost
#

I just discovered that 1-2 solid hits from a charged Curtis staggers a ton of things

#

... unfortunately the enemies have been learning how to dodge Curtis

#

And thus I've been using Curtis as my right arm weapon on pretty much every tetrapod build of mine

#

Because it can be spammed to keep the ACS strain up

serene kettle
#

maintaining pressure like that is a very real strat, yeah.

boreal frost
#

Or used to inflict a boatload of it when you get a window where they can't easily dodge it

#

I was disappointed learning you can't let two Curtis charges off simultaneously

serene kettle
#

lol yeah I had a similar experience with a lategame funny coral noodle rifle

#

turns you it locks you into two separate very long sustained beam fire animations

boreal frost
#

First mission I attempted to dual-curtis was the stealth mission because I wanted a second shot in case I missed my first one

#

Then, upon fighting the boss I went to unleash both

#

"Wait why did only one go off"

#

Sneak attack ruined

#

...

Instead they got a charged pilebunker the next attempt

serene kettle
#

lol

#

ah yes, the delete button

boreal frost
#

I was surprised walking that close didn't alert them

#

I'd think you'd notice a heavy quadroupedal armored core walking up behind you from the earth shaking

serene kettle
#

Well, you have to keep in mind that it's muffled by the interior of his own ass

boreal frost
#

Or the sudden loss of contact with everyone on the way because I figured out the best stealth meant nobody was left to notice

boreal frost
#

I was unfortunately too locked in to realize surrender was a valid option

polar osprey
#

Fr

radiant birch
#

i get more enjoyment than i should out of accepting his surrender and then murking him anyway

patent oyster
#

This is peak

radiant birch
#

oh hell yeah

stone jolt
#

So is anyone else bothered by the lack of Japanese Kana support in the international release's image generator?

wooden nimbus
#

I didn't even know that was a thing

stone jolt
#

Because, uh...

#

I'm working on it.

wooden nimbus
#

I could see how it would help

#

I do not speak this language so it slip my mind

stone jolt
#

Noticed a number of us have been slumming it and smashing lines and dots together to make home-made Katakana and Hiragana.

wooden nimbus
#

The only other alphabet I use at any given point is also not there though

stone jolt
#

Do tell

#

Because I will definitely be doing Aurebesh if this turns out alright.

wooden nimbus
#

Ah nah I've been learning Russian for my nephew

#

So he has someone other than his grandparents to talk to

stone jolt
#

I gotta say, I don't know how to read anything Cyrillic.

#

Also I don't know any languages from Eastern Europe.

wooden nimbus
#

Русский and all that yeah. Most of the trouble is learning the letters that look like Roman letters but around different

#

Р н в с у those guys etc

stone jolt
#

Right. How many are there?

#

Hiragana and Katakana each have 46 characters with two important accent marks.

#

Aurebesh is a 34 character system with a fair amount of punctuation.

wooden nimbus
#

ЙЦУКЕНГШЩЗХФЫВАПРОЛДЖЭЯЧСМИТЬБЮ there's not a terribly large number to worry about, I could probably hamfist it easily

#

They're pretty simple symbols

stone jolt
#

That doesn't look so hard. And I'm sure there'd be a demand for it for the WW II nuts or someone.

wooden nimbus
#

The image editor for AC6 is pretty robust since you can like

#

It got a lot of layers to play with and transparency stuff

#

It's very nice

#

So if I decide that I need to write БУРА on tempest protocol somewhere it won't be hard at all methinks

stone jolt
#

True. I just realized that these things

#

These pre-generated bits of micro-text used to add detail to your digital Gunpla,

are invisible when set to black text and placed as a transparency on a white AC. Even doubling and offsetting the text did not help. Also the borders of the transparency make them hard to work with.

This isn't a problem with the Alphabet stamps, even when reduced to that size.

#

I also have made my ACs ninja themed since AC2 and since they included parts named after Matsuo Basho in AC6, I wanted to use his poem Kawazu as filler text.

Well, that and The Qotsisajak (Creed of the Sith) and "We have been attempting to contact you in regards to your muscle tracer's limited warranty..."

#

When I realized the amount of Japanese text I'd have to make, I realized I needed a way to just copy and paste it.

patent oyster
#

For some reason, the decals with full words/sentences are lower resolution than the individual letter decals

Did all three of us from this thread submit builds with the Mind Beta legs?

#

I know Ultraviolet has them and I think Tempest Protocol does too

#

Living that midweight RJ life

polar osprey
#

midweight RJ life good

radiant birch
#

I like them because the giant bounding QBs you get with RJs makes it easy to shift between range bands if you want to make a build that does that

wooden nimbus
#

Yoooo

eager vector
#

maybe I should submit a build

wooden nimbus
#

Yes

radiant birch
#

Absolutely

radiant birch
#

Question for the crowd: how do you stress-test your PVE builds?

#

My benchmark for "is this build viable" is generally beating Freud with it in the arena, and maybe Michigan if I want to see how it does against a heavier, more stable opponent

#

But I feel like for a PVE builds I want to try it in a variety of situations to make sure it can handle them all at least somewhat

#

Multiple opponents, long missions with no resupply, etc

#

PVP building is fun but you're basically always optimizing for dueling

serene kettle
#

I see if I can beat Defend the Dam without using a Repair Kit with it.

#

this admittedly doesn't test for long missions but honestly I'm not sure the game has many endurance runs that outdo three back to back high-end AC fights

cursive agate
#

I sorta throw builds at whatever, mostly arena battles, sometimes NG++ boss if it's especially strong/pushing the limits.

radiant birch
#

Hmmm.

#

Thinking of it, I wonder if Attack The Watchpoint might not be a good baseline test

#

It's not the hardest mission in the game, but it's got a spread of combat situations--multiple weaker opponents, static emplacements, an AC duel, and a boss fight

serene kettle
#

it's not a terrible one. Sulla and Balteus demand somewhat different approaches so you get decent variety

#

and while the early part of the mission is pretty simple no matter what you're packing, it does at least test your ability to clean up trash mobs and not get pwned by the cannons

# radiant birch Question for the crowd: how do you stress-test your PVE builds?

I agree with the Defend The Dam Complex mission.

King and Chartreuse||, and C4-617|| are a good medley of challenges. I play that mission frequently. It assures me that no AC can stand in my way.

If I am testing an AC (usually one I made for ACvsAC dueling) for mission viability, I usually do this trio of missions in order.

Intercept the Red Guns (ammo, ad-kill power, tactical defense)
Locate the Coral Convergence (Non-AC Boss Efficiency)
Infiltrate Grid 186 (everything from tetrapods, to Invincible AC pilots, to non AC boss mechs in one well-spaced marathon)

I also usually skip resupplies during Infiltrate Grid 086.

No, there is emphatically no textual connection there.

#

||I don't even really buy it; Raven seems to have something of a history, while 617 really doesn't and most likely dies onscreen in the story trailer. It's technically possible, but there's really no support for it beyond both using modified RaD ACs.||

#

||Also, while it's technically possible that Raven dies outright after losing in Defend the Dam Complex or Defend the Old Spaceport, if they don't die (and I don't think they do, they seem to say something to their operator that the player can't hear post-defeat) we have a pretty short list of surviving Coral Release Candidates in Act 4. C4-617 is not among them, and three of the four are accounted for. It's hypothetically possible that Raven could be C3-291, but it's quite a bit more likely that they're later-gen or even unaugmented.||

#

||that said the most plausible candidate for being C3-291 is probably Rokumonsen - hazy background, notably strange behavior, drawn to sympathize with the Rubiconians despite being nominally an independent mercenary, and curiously the only character with no known affiliation with ALLMIND equipped with ALLMIND parts.||

wooden nimbus
#

All I know for sure is I wanna see the long term results of the third ending

stone jolt
#

Not convinced? Lemme see what I can do.

||So the Cinematic Story trailer.
Let's start with the Combat OS. Thing is pretty specific on the condition of each of the Hounds.
[0:57] "619: Vital signs lost"
[1:41] "620: Signal Lost"
[2:39] "617: Down"

Notice the damage taken by 617's AC. The left arm was blown away in the Cataphract tussle. The last time we see its head module is right before it makes its suicidal Assault Armor charge.||

Before we move on, from this video, I would like to add on a personal note that the final shot of 617's motionless AC seems to be punctuated with a question mark. We've seen these guys do mournful shots of broken machines before. This wasn't the same.

So, it's pretty forgotten now, but does anyone remember the Reveal trailer? The evidence in it is circumstantial, but powerful. It is only TOO in-character for From Soft to be telling us the story though it in this way.

Well, the concept of the trailer is a fast-forward through the lore leading up to Walter's return. It shows the fires, and the closure, and the slow rebuild...

THEN THERE IS AN UNKNOWN LOADER TYPE AC WITH A MISSING LEFT ARM, DISCOVERING AND SALVAGING A MATCHING PART. The status of its head unknown. It's never seen. It looks up to see an explosion, signaling the arrival of the Corporations (exactly who 617 and the other hounds were trying to lure).

||Just for anyone who hasn't picked up on why I keep mentioning the head module yet, We only know of one custom part on the Nightfall.||

Then (IMHO) the forward skipping is back on, showing what looks like the Liger Tail with a different weapons loadout (definitely a Balam AC. Possibly a Gun 13 at the wheel) fighting RLF MTs and the Nightfall entering the fray and pile-bunkering the Balam AC right through the abdominal section.

#

I admit, in a different game's cinematic, the transition from the explosion to the battle would mean simultaneous occurrence, but this is a From Software game.

I've linked to the timestamp, but I'm not going to embed the player for this.
Reveal Trailer

||I am convinced that AH C4-617 is the pilot of the Nightfall and not Karl Urban. You can see it how you want to, but 617 definitely survived and had motive to join up with Branch. You can say, "well there's nothing hard linking 617 to Raven," but as for me and Grandpa, we believe. ||

wooden nimbus
#

That's more evidence than I expected honestly.

stone jolt

PainJane is right saying that it isn't technically "textual". But we all know what game we're playing. We know what the guys who make it are like. They will ALLUDE instead of STATE whenever they can get away with it.

Yeah, but only. Only what they needed. I always thought if they could have made the White Glint thing less obvious while keeping the rest intact, they would have. But things like connecting Serene Haze to ||Kasumi Sumika|| was a delightful exercise in external reading and reading between lines.

One theory I could never quite understand was the theory that the MotA protagonist was Leos Kline. It may have just been a wild guess from a time where AC story telling was less established in its ways.

serene kettle
#

There's a straightforward answer to that one: Leos Klein is stated in AC2 to be the first Ninebreaker.

So that's what you meant before about Allmind's involvement. I get it now.

I think your very skepticism is the beauty of the theory. There is no hard answer and we can only guess.

But I very much could see ||617 taking after 621 or Thumb. Hearing Seria's urges and saying "I choose my own path" and choosing Branch. I wouldn't be shocked if it were Father Dolmayan who christened that hound 'Raven' in the first place.||

I've ran into x2 Zimmerman/x2 Handguns, or missile kits much more than melee canceling setups

Yeah,I'm I guess that's what you'd call my strat.

I mean, there wasn't really number crunching involved. I just felt it out, but yeah.

Thanks. I just knew I wanted melee stats. Melee is the thing I like best in mech stuff.

#

Hey, does anyone have any use for plasma in PVP? I feel like the damage output is so low, but it's really useful for finishing off Terminal Armored opponents in 3v3.

cursive agate

I've heard of charged FASAN getting used for high velocity + massive blast radius, though not much of regular plasma because damage is from getting stuck in the cloud.

Don't tell me. I can figure this out.

Hmm. That doesn't sound very meta.

Maeterlinck has pulse weapons and a shield....

Pulse weapons have bad impact outside of pulse armor/shoulder shields, but have more damage compared to similar Kinetic options, and EN Firearm scaling. Low ammo is the main reason I don't use them more.

Yeah ammo is their fundamental issue

They have all around good performance but run out quick

Vvc plasma rifle is getting more popular due to the buffs

#

Nebula has always been off meta but has played second fiddle to the coral version in terms of raw damage

#

Vpm used to be popular, but is apparently making a comback

#

3pm has consistently stayed as a good ranged poke

#

6pm is largely ignored due to the slower firing speed and the fact that overlapping plasma fields from multiple missiles (fired from the same launcher) don't actually stack damage, so there's almost no benefit running 6pm over 3pm

serene kettle
#

3pm is a banger 😌

If you’re ever struggling with the ng++ ||stop coral transport||, the 3pms destroy it

glad sierra
#

so, while i did manage to beat him (after roughly 17 attempts) i'm curious. any advice for improving against Balteus? cuz that victory was more down to the wire than i'd have liked

cursive agate
#
  • The bazooka (quickdraw shot), and Gatling array are more dangerous than the missiles if you're in a decently fast AC.
  • Weapon Impact matters more than damage output against the shield part (Pulse Armor-like), and stagger/burst damage matters a lot when the shield is down.
  • Flamethrower is sorta easier to dodge up close than far away if moving parallel to the attacks.
serene kettle
#

My balty strat is always open the fight assault boosting to get directly underneath it. This is the most consistent safespot for the Missiles, and most of balty’s attacks in general (phase 2 flamer aside)

#

And yeah, that bazooka is probably its deadliest attack in practice

wooden nimbus
#

AB into the target is honestly just a safe anti missile strategy in general, I don't know why but anything that doesn't fire them directly at you has no idea how to correct for it

serene kettle
#

Well, yes, but my point was underneath rather than going directly for the kick is more consistent

#

The kick can be a good strat too, it can also just backfire

wooden nimbus
#

Nah you right, I was just remarking on how making a beeline for your target seems to fuck up the missile targeting

polar osprey
#

i wish i could give advice but honestly i had a pretty easy time getting used to his fighting style

#

did a quick run of it and the tips i can give based on that are:

  • try to stay close to it, if you're close it becomes harder for Balteus to use its arsenal
  • try to stay behind it or to one side if you can, if you're close and out of its effective forward attack range you can keep decent control of the encounter
  • keep an eye out for flamethrower attacks, those are going to be your biggest worry when you are really close to it
  • dodge into the missile barrage, and keep dodging while the missiles try to track you, if you dodge into it, it becomes harder for them to get you and if you keep dodging around Balteus while the missiles are flying around you'll likely avoid most of the barrage
  • keep an eye out for it reupping its shield, the shield is the big sticking point aside from the flamethrower if you stick close, so keep an eye out and get out of dodge as soon as it starts getting it up
eager vector
#

Verticality really helps with the flamethrower. If you’re over or under it’ll generally miss

polar osprey
#

yeah when he uses the flamethrower you can just jump over it

#

or go under

patent oyster
#

My balty strat is just to dodge

#

I know that sounds like useless advice, but his attacks are pretty easy to read and can be dodged with one or two QBs, its just about learning how to QB and dodge them

Or you can use assault boost to tank the impact (from the shotgun blasts and gatling bursts)

glad sierra
#

By all means

patent oyster
#

For lightweight builds, id recommend using alula boosters

#

328 boost speed on a lightweight is rather suboptimal since your speed and agility is meant to compensate for your lack of defense stats

#

Generally the recommended minimum speed for lightweights is 350, since anything above 340 boost speed can dodge missiles passively without quickboosting

patent oyster
#

P04 is a pretty good "jack of all trades" type booster, but i wouldnt necessarily say they work on lightweights all the time

#

For the weapons, i unfortunately cant recommend the VTC vertical missiles. They have objectively worse tracking than any other missile in the game (in the game code, the point at which they stop tracking their target is much earlier than other missiles)

#

The VPM vertical plasma missiles are essentially the only viable vertical missiles due to their AoE

#

That being said, just because balteus' hitbox is so big, VTC works for him

#

Im still going to try this version of the build for funsies, i love messing around with other people's builds to see the game from different perspectives

glad sierra
#

Much obliged for the feedback. Won’t lie, i initially didn’t use the Alula boosters cuz they added more weight, and I’m kinda always toeing the line on that one. I don’t really have anything for the Left shoulder unit (save for some shields that i never actually use)

#

Out of curiosity, is it unheard of to double up on the VPM? Cuz that could also be a bit of an issue due to the aforementioned load problem

stone jolt
#

sounds great for PVE.

#

Just, doesn't have the raw single-target damage of similar weighted options.

radiant birch
#

i've done double VPM before yeah

#

i don't know if it has the same issue as the 6-cell plasma missiles (overlapping plasma AOEs don't stack damage) but it's not bad area saturation for slippery targets or crowds of mobs

The ACV/VD mechs are still 5m tall, between RJ jump height actually meaning something and overboost you can stay in the air pretty long if you make an effort to do it, and honestly a lot of V/VD just gets a bad rap because of the influx of players from 4/fA who expected more gundam. I honestly feel like 5th gen isn't significantly slower than the other gens and people are overreacting. The only thing I really didn't like about V/VD directly was scan mode, which I think VI's scan pulse did better overall.

Oh, yeah, sure. I hate my wording for it because I think it sounds meaner than I mean but I really don't know another way to put it, so take it with that in mind.

If I wanted to play a flying machine that rarely if ever touches the ground and can zip around at hundreds of kilometers per hour, I would be playing Ace Combat where the fantasy of being a fighter jet is already a thing. I want to be a big mechanical dude with big guns and being able to zip around at lightning speed with hairpin turns doesn't convey that fantasy to me at all. If I am controlling a 5-10m tall multi-ton war machine I want it to feel like it has weight and mass and the boosters are there because I couldn't move this thing quickly without them. I want my machine to be mobile in a bitter, spiteful attack on physics and not simply forgetting Newton's laws exist. I don't like how slow things like, say, Mechwarrior are but AC really hit the sweet spot for me and 4 (and to a lesser degree, 6) really leave that behind in a way that bothers me.

I wanted to talk about how Relloids got introduced to society, spread out how long Cain's research took, talk about Dr. Light on his deathbed.

#

Albert visits Thomas oh his death bed in peace, both knowing that death is only the beginning of their battle.

So far I've written a few snippets. Such as rewriting the note Cain finds with X's capsule.

#

Oh and talka bout the true nature of Zero's creation. Answer a bunch of the unanswered questions. Such as why he is called Zero.

that sounds really neat

I want to talk about the context in which Thomas built the upgrade capsule system. And how in his pre-wipe alphas, Rock called X little bro (despite Rock being modeled after a middle schooler and X being modeled after a high schooler.)

Oh, oh OH, what the deal with Animal-bodied Relloids and jokes about how they always go maverick.

"Chill Penguin? You betrayed the Hunters! How could you?!"
Penguin: "You're actually surprised? Look at me!"

That said, after Cain subjects Zero to a year of testing, I wanted to talk about Zero entering the hunters and Training under Sigma alongside Magma Dragoon.

There's gotta be a better place for this.

according to google (for what that's worth), there's no PS4/PS5 crossplay, so i would guess no

#

whoa, really? No crossplay between ps4 and ps5? That seems unlikely

#

Ok confirmed, ps4 and ps5 can play together and use the same share codes

#

there’s just no cross platform play
